Basically, in UNDERTALE 2: RotR, there are 6 failed Toriel clones. They were created by Marisa (yes the one from Touhou) who lost her arms in a woodchipper, is a superfan of UNDERTALE, and got approached by the angel Seriph who worked with her to make UT real by graphically turning her friends into stupid versions of UT characters. Shou Toramaru (from Touhou ) was the 1st Toriel clone attempt, but since she was hyperfixating on Die Hard (the movie) that's now all she can think of.

random ut2 facts that were confirmed yesterday:

patchmare was in charge of making the disguises for the other mares! marelass (who wasn't first, for some reason or another) got impatient waiting and squished another mare onto her head. his name was napemare and he is dead.

mainstream mare culture is incredibly iconoclastic and destructive. there are several different subcultures that do their own thing, however. the ones we encounter are, for the most part, pretty run of the mill culture wise, with patchmare and jamanda being exceptions.

nazrin's crush on sans is one sided as he "doesn't care about romance." (epic aroace win)

everyone throws bricks at grindy except savio (savio loves everyone and everyone loves savio)

jamanda and frogueslick are cousins! or at least a close equivalent for their kind.

eclaire is not a monster native to the underground, but had instead fallen in from somewhere else. flowey didn't talk to her at all, apparently.

jamanda apparently refused to help marisa with undertale 2. who knows how they survived. (maybe they're just That chill)

anything past the Archives is janky and poorly made, making it too difficult to navigate for a Frisk. had cai not gone off the path, it's likely that seriph would have just given up and left marisa to struggle by herself regardless. he "gives up when cai's run ends."

Hey uh i just got to the bloodheaven (weird website place) area and I’m a little confused about the story so far. Could you care to offer a little recap?

dont worry, i was super lost the first time i played too HAHA i only know it so well now cause i've played more than once and i've had a lot of time to actually chew on the lore a little bit. if you get sick of the weird confusing lore... uh, don't worry, cai's sick of it too. lol

tldr, Cai Digamma is a human that fell into Mt. Itoi and was altered in order to play the role of Frisk for Marisa Kirisame's "very own undertale." This so-called sequel to the original game was created thanks to the powers of Seriph, a seraphim angel.

Roughly 20 years before the events of the story, Marisa Kirisame works together with Seriph to create "her own Undertale." They (with the help of some others, such as Nitori) create a new underground and primarily populate it with robots, some seemingly made from scratch and some who were once people and were "Upgraded" into them. Marisa becomes more and more merciless overtime, having no qualms at all about killing/ruining the lives of her friends for the sake of her project.

At some point after "Undertale 2" was complete and ready to begin, The Lullaby Knight climbs into Mt. Itoi in search of a mythical monster called the Wishbeast. In doing so, he unknowingly is assigned the role of "Frisk." He encounters Die Hard II (Toriel), but assumes she is the Wishbeast, attacking and breaking her. Marisa becomes enraged and kills him for not complying with the game. In the present day, you encounter the broken Die Hard II in the Relaxation Hall and finally put her to rest.

Four other humans (One before LK, three after) fall in and ultimately fail to complete Marisa's game. Each Die Hard corresponds with a Frisk to play the role of "Toriel," and they're discarded after each failure as well.

Back to present day, you play as Cai Digamma, the sixth human overall, who had sailed to Mt. Itoi for the very same reason as the Lullaby Knight--to slay the Wishbeast and gain the Wishgem. He fell into the mountain, and had his body and memories altered in order to resemble Frisk. Most characters you encounter are in on the game in some way.

However, Cai eventually goes off course, learning of his true identity and getting into Marisa's playroom. Seriph fantasizes about Marisa and Team Frisk having a giant robot battle but being interrupted by her getting sued by Toby Fox because he wants the game to end. He (sort of) reveals that he only extended his hand to the project because it was "profitable" to him in the form of Clione, and no longer wants to continue as it is no longer beneficial to him. He kills Marisa and brings Team Frisk into his website because... i dont know. he's toying with you i guess. thinks its funny maybe.

as for what Clione is, the game describes it as "entropy in its most arctic form." take that as you will. i personally think of it as like. just atoms with zero discord/entropy. i dont know. kind of a vague concept. seraphims seem to be all about the stuff though!
