13 reasons Why- S3 E12 : One sequence :

So, even if I'm used to draw an adaptation of an episode of Degrassi, I was really willing to draw this sequence from 13 reasons Why. It really thrives me in, mostly after everything the character of Tyler went through. I really love the message behind this scene, about how rebuilding yourself could be a long process, one where you will probably not recognize yourself at the end, thing who can be scary, to be fair. Here, Tyler took the time to capture every step of his own journey through pictures. I read before that in all these pictures, there is only in the last one where he is smiling. But after redrawing all the shot, we can see it's not true. For some moments, Tyler is back to smile and sometimes, you feel how bad was his day through his face on the picture. And it's means a lot about going through depression or a trauma. Somedays are better than others, someday, you feel like everything will be better now, and some others, you feel like you will never make it. But that's the thing, even in the bad is always there, sometimes, waiting to come back, the good also is waiting, and will be back. On how you see it, it can only give you hope of a brighter future.

I also very love the friendship built between Alex and Tyler. Where Tyler would be a kinda dark version of Clay (notably in season 1 and 2), Alex is more of a character who shares the same sensibility than Tyler, and kinda completed each other. This incredible moment and sentence "Are you okay ?", only by looking at the face of his friend also prove how Tyler learn to use his empathy to help people around him. Because he's been through hard stuff, he learn himself to recognize the signs. Like he said to Jessica : "May be it's different with guys." May be it's why he is able to see that Alex is suffering right now, only by a look on his face.

There is so much to say about this sequence. My relathinship with Season 3 is complicated. I feel like the direction taken, with the murder mostly, was going too far for being really realistic for a teen-show (but hey, it's a drama, and sometimes, it needs a strong red line, I was still curious to know who was the killer). But this season is probably the one with the most poignant scene. For me, it really revealed how Devin Druid was a skilled actor, notably in emotional scene.

And I'm stopping here, because there is so much to say. And I love tumblr for that. Instead of Instagram, we can really write and write and write about our favorite subject here.

I hope you enjoy this tiny hommage. I really love doing it, even if it took me so long to do it (one year). Still, I'm willing to do more scene, from other serie. I already have some ideas. 13 reasons why.

Una serie che tratta argomenti di bullismo,problemi adolescenziali,suicidio e omicidio in maniera molto diretta.

Nelle 4 stagioni tutto è incentrato sul suicidio di Hanna Baker(che avviene nella prima stagione) che prima di togliersi la vita lascia,via posta,un pacco con 13 cassette dove in ognuna di loro c'è descritto un motivo e una persona per cui lei ha deciso di suicidarsi.Il pacco con le cassette gira tra il gruppo di amici che Hanna accusa della sua morte senza che però loro si dicano nulla.Ognuno di loro è un tassello rilevante nella storia della studentessa del Liberty High il college che frequentava prima di morire.

Tra i 13 ragazzi c'è anche Clay,che è uno dei pochi amici di Hanna a cui si era legata sinceramente.Lui a differenza di tutti gli altri ragazzi cerca in ogni stagione il vero motivo per cui Hanna abbia deciso di morire e cercare di capire cosa centrano tutti gli altri.

Nelle 4 stagioni tutti e 13 ragazzi affrontano diverse situazioni complicate per le loro vite e alcuni di loro muoiono in circostanze gravi.Ma ognuno di loro è legato in modo sia positivo che negativo a Hanna.

Questa serie è una delle poche che ha ricevuto la mia attenzione dalla prima all'ultima stagione anche se è una serie molto drammatica in alcuni episodi c'è un senso di legame forte tra tutti i 13 ragazzi che messi davanti alle difficoltà dell'adolescenza cercano di affrontare i loro drammi.

Spotlight Artist: Ruelle

You might have heard her music on hit television series such as Shadowhunters, Arrow, Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Dynasties, 13 Reasons Why, Sleepy Hollow, and so many more. Today we’re exploring pop artist, Ruelle on this Spotlight Artist.

MUSIC

Starting her music career in songwriting in Nashville, TN, Maggie Eckford released two albums, For What It’s Worth in 2010 and Show and Tell in 2012. Her early music could be classified as indie pop and alternative.

Her next release was EP Up in Flames in 2014 under the stage name Ruelle. She found her niche in the dark yet emotionally cinematic music that carved her path out and was one of the go-to artists to be featured in TV and movies. Ruelle’s subsequent releases followed this style. Her newest albums, Earth Glow and Exodus, still had an electro-pop feel but are comparably softer lyrically and tonally.

Ruelle has been featured with Fleurie, Zayde Wolfe, Tommee Profitt, UNSECRET, Hidden Citizens, and more.

TV AND MOVIES

Mentioned previously, Ruelle’s approach to her music allowed her songs to be featured on a number of shows and movies.

Her song Until We Go Down was featured in the movie The Loft in 2014, but she didn’t slow down there. In 2015, 11 of her songs were aired on shows like Finding Carter, Teen Wolf, Scream: The TV Series, and The Originals. 2016 song uptick in her songs being used on TV and she even wrote music for Freeform’s The Shadowhunters. In 2019, her song The World We Made was featured in Netflix’s movie The Old Guard.

CONCLUSION

The magic of Ruelle’s songs is that you can place them in heartbreaking, gut-wrenchingly sad moments to dark, emotionally twisted villainy-type moments or even during action-packed sequences. They can set the mood for trailers, promotions, and television title screens.

I can find barely any information about this book series online but it’s already been optioned for a movie by DreamWorks….. in 2009. Will I ever actually get to BE IN a live-action depiction of ANY of my favorite books from middle school???? Man I have got to stop being poor 😔
