Now bear with me this might be long:
So Ace is holding a vinyl that says 'Spirit Phone'. Upon a google search, I realized that it was a relatively good album by Lemon Demon in 2016. Now, because I'm me I started looking for meanings in the song descriptions and lyrics:
Lifetime Achievement:
You are dead and buried, you are dead (Oh no) Oh, but you never died! Even as we speak we're synthesizing blood and organs Synthesizing heart and soul Ain't no cemetery you can't shed (Oh no) Ain't nowhere you can hide! Don't be frightened of us Soon enough you're gonna love us, just remember This is your last ride ever, forever Fill up your lungs - feel better? Look - it's you, good as new New hands, new throat, new living tissue You earned this new purpose Lifetime achievement award
Touch-Tone Telephone
I try to call you every day I'm rehearsing what to say When the truth comes out (Of my very own mouth) I've been working on a unified theory If I make it through tonight everybody's gonna hear me out 'Cause I'm the right one On my touch-tone, touch-tone telephone I'm the only one (Hey!) On your A.M., A.M. radio (Ooh) Don't hang up yet, I'm not done I'm an expert, I'm the one The one who was right all along Better to be laughed at than wrong
Cabinet Man
I'm happy for years and years and Only eating the occasional maintenance man Only driving a few kids to madness Maybe they were predisposed to madness, who knows? I only want to have fun
No Eyed Girl
( “No Eyed Girl” is a love song about an inter dimensional being. More specifically, it seems to be about an inferior being (probably a human) falling in love from an extra-terrestrial visitor. Its also an allegory for someone who’s madly in love with someone far out of their league, and will do anything to get with this majestic person. )
From the moment that we met, I've been awake Like I've never been awake in all my life If I spoke your language, I could tell you how I feel But your language isn't real In every myth there's a little bit of truth But I cannot say a thing, I cannot say a thing Without proof, oh no
...
This is gonna change our world I might go insane If I learn your full name If you'd be my no-eyed girl
When He Died
(A wealthy, and most likely famous, man is found dead in his mansion. However, the more the police and the media investigate his death, the more mysteries come to light.)
When he died He somehow left behind Strange symbols on the floor beneath his corpse Investigators said the wood was scorched When he died
Soft Fuzzy Man
Who seeps through your thoughts Who makes you see spots Who blows through the air Who plays with your hair I know it sounds crazy But once you go hazy, you'll understand I'm your soft, fuzzy man
As Your Father I Expressly Forbid It
(A rant from a stressed father trying to get his children to behave for their grandfather so the family can enjoy dinner together.)
Man-Made Object
( “Man-Made Object” is a story about a man who, during the night, becomes overtaken by a desire to build a massive structure. Given the nature of the album, it seems likely that the desire is supernaturally inspired; the Man-Made Object is likely a monument to some powerful entity. )
I have a vision of a man-made object I have the money, I have the means I have the strangest dreams I caught insomnia from looking at the moon I found a picture of a rectangle I drew I am an altogether different man by day I have the influence to send that man far away
You're At the Party
( The song is about a supernatural entity “inviting” you to the party of the afterlife, or rather a realm of non-existence. )
They make you sweat, half-awake, soaking wet Fever dream, people screaming bloody murder Paint chips flaking off the neighboring wall And as the night goes on and threatens dawn
Maybe I'm going mad, but wait... I do have some valid points don't I?

Official Season 3 Description *spoilers*
Season three begins one week after the season two finale when we saw Nancy’s (Kennedy McMann) mystical relative Temperance Hudson return to Horseshoe Bay with a dark agenda. Nancy’s hopes of leaving her hometown for college will be derailed by this mysterious nemesis, and her fate will become entwined with that of her greatest foe yet.
While contending with the escalating supernatural threat from her season-long adversary, our legendary teen detective investigates a series of grisly murders that seem to be sending a message to Nancy herself. Is she being stalked by a human serial killer? Or does the murderer originate from beyond the earthly realm? And how are the killings connected to the Hudson bloodline that Temperance and Nancy both share?
On the trail of the ongoing case, the Drew Crew will team up with Nancy while also grappling with their own challenges: Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim), a former mechanic turned local businessman, must navigate his burgeoning romance with George Fan (Leah Lewis), whose paranormally shortened lifespan means she only has ten years left to live. Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani), having tragically parted with her ghostly soulmate, becomes drawn into the long-lost practices of her occultist ancestors. Ace (Alex Saxon), on a path to figure out his calling in life, realizes that he may have feelings for Nancy – and that he may not be the only person competing for her affection.
At the same time, Nancy’s biological father, former billionaire Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith), and her adoptive father, attorney Carson Drew (Scott Wolf), begin to find a way forward with Nancy as a family, now that she has publicly acknowledged her parentage and vowed to rectify the criminal legacy of the Hudsons. Putting aside their previous conflicts, the two dads work to support Nancy’s headstrong independence and keep her out of harm’s way as best they can. Carson will spark a romance that evolves him both personally and professionally, and Ryan will find himself tempted by his previous life as the morally compromised scion to an empire.
This season’s adventures will bring Nancy and her friends standalone cases, new love interests, and emotional journeys of self-discovery – culminating in a showdown with Temperance, which results in a shattering turn that will profoundly change all of their lives.
Nancy Drew stars Kennedy McMann, Scott Wolf, Alex Saxon, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim and Riley Smith.

I would love it if the next Horseshoe Bay Chief of Police was openly hostile to the Drew Crew. Like the other 'head cops' were clearly irritated by them but I want more. I want Nancy and her friends to solve a crime only for the cops to be under orders to arrest them too for every minor infraction they committed to solve the crime. I want the chief of police actively trying to dismantle the crew, arguing the group are reckless and incapable of making responsible decisions, that he or she has the moral duty to ensure Nancy Drew and the others are stopped before they end up dead.
I want the chief of police to oppose the Drew Crew to the point evidence they collect is basically treated like baseless accusations.
And then a case comes up - a kidnapping, a serial killer taking lives by the hour - a crime that means all hands are on deck. And the chief of police is forced to sit at their desk and tell the Drew Crew the police need their help.

Theory time
I don't know if ANY of this is true - literally all of it is unconfirmed speculation - but I'm going to say it with my chest anyway, so here goes 😂:
The "ghost at the historical society" is a former WIW, trying to communicate with/warn Bess about what happened to Hannah. Hannah looked awfully robotic in that security footage. I think Temperance performed some kind of ritual on Hannah which caused her to release the killer entity from its underground cage while in a possessed state.
My hope is that Hannah is still alive somewhere (definitely possible since Temperance/the killer is 'particular' about who gets killed), but was perhaps persuaded or threatened to exit Horseshoe Bay. Now the historical society ghost is trying to prevent Bess from being run off or manipulated in the same way, since Bess is now taking on Hannah's role.
I also have a feeling that this might all be building up to a reveal that Temperance is using this serial killing entity to only eliminate targets who are a threat to Nancy/the Hudson family. I think she will try to convince Nancy & co that she's doing this to rid the world of evil people, that she's delivering justice - but I do also think there's an unspoken layer to her motivations that involve reviving her daughter, Charity, back to life, whom she 'failed to save' many years ago.

2. Bess and the new girls hate story to love story really had my heart
3. Nick with geroges sisters is always so cute. It really makes me feel that he will be a great dad
4. The all the people I know and care are from horseshoe bay and the eye contact.. ughhhh can they just date please
5. The whole fan fans thing was super cool I would like to see George get one whe day to be the protagonist in the story
6. Ace being possessed by the three fingered man. It seemed so personal the way it was said about his grandfather, that touched me.
7. The apparent serial killer saying you won't understand that had me going like yaay there's still more to come about this plot line
8. The way Nancy caught onto ace when the door of the warehouse was closing. That was the cutest thing ever and the way he ran to save her. That's the best part about Nace they always dive headfirst to save the other one
9. I enjoyed the storyline with the person of color and white person being in love that was really sweet and somber
10. The last scene between ace and Nancy, like do they know the concept of physical distance I really wonder sometimes
3X04
1. Impeccable acting for each of the drew crew member. I have no words genuinely for the way the potray the sleep walking phase and them after it feels so real and beautiful
2. Ryan at the end of the episode with the crowbar is so cute. I'm warming up to him every episode
3. Bess Marvin starting the women in white, interesting and scary at the same time and I am ready!
4. I am done with the dreamscape nace moments can we get some actual romance soon ? Thank you! But Nancy is literally like me when I have a crush on a guy and I always dream of them confessing .. ugh relatable Nancy part 1000
5. I love Nick so much for what he is doing for the kids, he's such a kind soul and his dreamscape also being related to that was the cutest thing ever
6. Bess demanding respect from the drew crew was so needed. She has been giving her all and she deserves the respect and appreciation!
7. Carson cooking Primavera is my new favourite thing
8. Temperance can rule the episode without even being on the screen that's power
9. Was it me or that sandman reminded someone else of the Gargoyle king from Riverdale too ?
10. This show gets better with each episode and I don't know how they do it. Also special mention for Carson finding out about Ace's involvement with senior Bobbsey

October 2021 Picks
Tumblr media
It’s been a bit, but I’m BACK! Life’s been busy, but I’ve still found time to watch TV (as you can probably tell) and man have there been so GREAT things! I can’t wait to talk about them all.
I know October is still going on, but as I’ve missed September, I thought why not get a head start. So, without further ado, let’s do this!
Some spoilers ahead....
You’ve been warned....
Tumblr media
NANCY DREW-SEASON 3
Is it shocking that I’m starting with Nancy Drew? Maybe, if you’re new to this page. If not, you already know my love for this show. (It runs deep.) The third season started three weeks ago-and airs new episodes on Friday on the CW...Catch up now on the CW app, you’ll be happy you did.
The start to this season is already SO STRONG and has me longing for the next episode. (I just watched last night’s for the second time already.) The cast is so fantastic, and talented. No matter which pairs are on screen it’s fantastic. (Can I say fantastic too many times?) I love every member of this crew so much. This season we are tracking a serial killer, the Frozen Hearts Killer, and keeping our eyes on Temperance Hudson who has recently returned to Horseshoe Bay (and is definitely up to no good). Romances are blossoming. Nick and George are the cutest and feel like parents. Bess has a growing attraction/hate-love relationship with a new character, Addy, and I’m here for it. (Plus, she’s learning magic and I love that for her.) And the Nancy and Ace crumbs are GIVING ME SO MUCH LIFE. (Check out my other blog @lydia-yougowith-stiles for more shipping fangirling moments. There’s many. You’ve been warned.)
I’ve gotten at least three people to watch this show since the summer, and it is my life’s mission to continue to get people to watch it. It is hands down the best show on the CW right now, and one of the least appreciated. Give it some love. I mean just look at this good-looking cast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
STARGIRL-SEASON 2
Okay, so I know I just said that Nancy Drew is the best show on the CW (and I stand by that), but Stargirl is up there as a very close second. It is my favorite superhero show on the network (and I used to LOVE everything about the Arrowverse, and now I watch like none of it).
Season 2 is killing it! Season 1 was really strong and I’ve been planning to re-watch it, and I’m so happy that season 2 is delivering so much. The villain this season is *so good.* Eclipso is so creepy and anytime I see that little kid I want to punch him in the face. He is SOOOOO CREEPY. I’m so frustrated where the new JSA is right now, but that just shows how good the writing is. I literally have no idea how they are going to take him down, but I’m here for it and ready. Losing the Shade last week really hurt, and just adds to my list of people I think the show killed off too soon. (You know how I feel about the Brainwaves-specifically Henry.) That being said, a lot of them get to come back in flashbacks, so hopefully we can see him return in some way. I also really love how this show gets to the point. Barbara being a part of the team makes me so happy as does the progression of revealing secrets. Arrow would have dragged out soooo much.
So, just like I said for Nancy Drew, watch Stargirl on the CW if you aren’t already. You’ll be so much happier that you did.

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW-SEASON 7
Wow, season 7! That sounds crazy. (I actually had to double check before I posted this.) I figured to stay with this CW train we’re on, so here’s the only Arrowverse show I still watch regularly.
Last season for me was a little rough. I still enjoyed episodes, but I didn’t love it overall. The aliens plot for me felt forced, and Gary being an alien felt like an after thought and way to make the connection stronger. I also felt like we were losing a lot of the legends. The Waverider has always been a revolving door, but for some reason this one felt like so much was changing. So far, this season I am really enjoying it. (I know there have only been what, two episodes so far?) I like how they are stuck in the 1920s, and need to find a way back to the waverider. There feels like a lot more mystery this season (especially with Gideon and her message at the end of 7x02). Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Tumblr media
LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE
Do you remember the old Nickelodeon game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple? Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Sliver Snakes, Green Monkeys, and Red Jaguars sound familiar? If not, have you ever seen anyone wearing one of these TV shirts at a convention or amusement park? (Guilty.)
Well, if you ever dreamed of being on the 90s Nick competition show, you’re dream might come true as the CW has rebooted it. On Sunday nights journey back to your childhood as adults compete against each other (outside) for $25,000. The games are familiar, but the vibe is definitely different. Olmec feels old, and the legends are no longer PG rated (which I have no problem with, I would probably still not be able to remember them all). I haven’t been getting into it as much as I thought I would. Maybe you’ll enjoy it more.
Tumblr media
GHOSTS
There’s a joke in my house that I don’t remember that CBS is a network. This is because I don’t often watch TV shows on it. Luckily, one of my friends mentioned Ghosts and I’m so happy they did because it’s a lot of fun.
Rose Mciver (iZombie) and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Pitch Perfect) star in this half-hour comedy as a couple who inherit a house after Mciver’s distant aunt dies. She wants to flip it into a bed and breakfast, while Ambudkar wants to sell it. The twist is that the house is home to several ghosts who have died on the property over the years, and live there for the unforeseeable future. They don’t want the couple to open a b&b because then they would be stuck sharing their home with more of the living. When Mciver suffers a fall and wakes up from her coma, she sees the ghosts and is now the barrier between them. It’s really funny and definitely worth the watch. The episodes go really fast and will have you laughing. Highly recommend you check it out.
Tumblr media
THE WALKING DEAD-SEASON 11
After a show is on for ten seasons, plots start to feel repetitive and you question if the show has to still be on. The Walking Dead has lost a lot of its original cast, and there are times where I ask myself the above. However, this season had some really great episodes. I was excited to see more of the cast in one episode compared to last year when the filming was limited to how many people were able to be on set at the same time.
Now with the Whispers gone, we have a lot more problems from the Reapers (who I can’t stand and feel won’t be solved with one season, but has to be), to the Commonwealth (which gives me such ‘The Governor’ vibes. I keep saying that their governor/leader isn’t real-even though they show a picture of her in the upcoming trailer). Plus, there’s the feuding within the group: Negan and Maggie. I did really love how they used the Whispers tacit against the Reapers and that finale was EXPLOSIVE. It’s got me hooked for what’s up next. I also love that Darryl is back with us as is CONNIE!!! Her episode with the feral people gave me nightmares. That’s something I definitely didn’t think I’d see on this show.
Tumblr media
GRANTCHESTER--SEASON 6
Completely shifting gears, because I don’t know how else to jump from the Walking Dead. This month the PBS Masterpiece Mystery, Grantchester, returned with its sixth season. I didn’t realize how much I missed this show. The characters, the town, and all the mysterious drama that comes with it.
There’s already an overarching story, but each episode also brings another mystery with it. I really enjoyed the second episode with the adoption case. It was SO GOOD. My heart aches for Leonard this season. I have no idea how that’s going to go, especially the way the last episode ended. While I liked Sidney, I really like this fresh breath of life the show got with Will. I really enjoy his character, and his dynamic with Geordie. I’m also excited to see the rest of this season. New episodes are on Sundays on PBS. You can catch up for free on Amazon video with a prime account.
Tumblr media
THE BABYSITTERS CLUB-SEASON 2
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH. Give it a season three right now.
This adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s beloved book series, released a second season earlier this month, and I watched it so fast. It was SOOO GOOD. I wish it was longer than eight/half-hour episodes. I was laughing, and crying (both sad and happy tears). The characters are so great and real. The stories are heartwarming and feel good, which feels hard to find sometimes. They continue to update the book series in such innovative and creative ways. I can’t stop smiling as I watch. If you want to feel good look no further. You’ll be happy you did.
Tumblr media
SOY LUNA-SEASON 1
Guys! I have made it to episode 62! Are you shocked? I started watching back in June, and hit a lull, but now I am cruising through.
So much has happened, and now Luna and Simon are a thing? It happened fast, but I don’t think it’s going to last long. Matteo is back with Ambar, which is so annoying and I can’t wait until they break up. Nina is having her webcam call with Gaston as Felicity. (I seriously can’t wait until these two discover who Felicity really is.) There are some things (like Ambar’s sneaky annoying stare) that bother me, but overall I’m having a good time. I will just need to take a break before watching season 2.
Tumblr media
THE OUTPOST
The Outpost finished last month, and I’m so sad to see it go. I was surprised when a fourth season popped up on my DVR (as I’ve said it before) and while they didn’t know the show was ending for good, it had such a strong ending. I’m so happy to see Talon and Garret together and Talon as Queen. It’s the role she deserves. I loved the addition of Luna this season. The gods freaked me out, but thought they were a good villain. I still don’t think Tobin had to die and miss Gwynn, but wish Falista wasn’t around for so long. Munt became one of my favorite characters as the show continued on. Good for him finding love. Janzo and Wren are everything. I wish we could have met their baby. This was an amazing show. More people should have watched it.
Season 1 and 2 are available with ads on IMDB. Check it out.

So excited to watch the second season! Now I have to remember what happened at the end of season one....

A little free write...
George and Nick break up. Ned sells The Claw back to George and opens a vintage auto restoration and “specialty repairs” shop. He buys a craftsman mansion near downtown and turns it into a boy's home.
With seed money from Nick and Ryan, George opens a cafe, a pizza parlor and buys Johnny Mac's bar (re-naming it Buddy's) in addition to the Claw. Her sister’s help run what will become their family’s burgeoning hospitality empire. There is tension between George and Jesse who isn't interested in business and wants to go to the JC in hopes of becoming a marine biologist. George buys the Breaker Hotel later in her life. All of her establishments are notoriously (and conveniently) "haunted". Trip advisor stickers on the door and mentions on lonely planet-all the things. George becomes a rags to riches business marketing wonderkind about town. George struggles to be taken seriously by the old money investors and conservative business owners she must rub elbows with now. In the end she'll expand to Boston and NY and get into real estate and have enough money to throw in all their faces for the rest of time just like Nick whom she may reconnect with at some point.
Ryan struggles with alcoholism again, gets a DUI and enters rehab where he becomes interested in art. He gets involved in collecting and patronizing and when he falls in love with an artist he is inspired to become the Cathrine the Great of Horseshoe Bay: investing in culture, the arts and championing the environment and the education of young women in particular.  He gets his pilots license and flying in his vintage plane (restored by Nick of course) becomes a favorite hobby of his. He turns the Lilac Inn into the local girl's home.  He opens what becomes a renowned museum in honor of the the forgotten historical figures of New England in Boston. With the help of Carson he lobbies NYU to create a journalism scholarship in Lucy’s name.  He dies before he turns 60 in a landing accident while returning from a half hour flight he took to observe the bay on a particularly nice day.
Bess acquires a student visa by becoming a cosmetology student at the local JC but doesn’t fit in and becomes an “illegal” resident again when she drops out of beauty school.  She’s a part time secretary for Nick and waitress at the claw again. She bungles Nick’s flow and he has to let her go at which point she finds a job in a bookshop after bonding with the manager over a mutual love of AJ Crane novels. She hones an affinity and strong sales numbers for the antique/rare book section and she uses her Newley sharpened expert eye to forge her papers all while angling for an apprenticeship with the mysterious owner which will allow her to begin building clientele amongst the wealthy collectors of Horseshoe Bay and get out of the counterfeit game she's been running on the side to get by. She fully embraces the dark-intellectual trope and pursues her PHD. at a historic, prestigious and secretive private school in Horseshoe Bay. She buys a dope ass queen-anne with a turret that she restores and lives in. She eventually becomes an art dealer (specializing in "rare objects" of course), chief buyer for the Hudson family trust and patron of the historical society.  After her eventual death at a ripe old age she gets a statue in her likeness, her house becomes a historic landmark and she becomes a legend in horseshoe bay for being it’s favorite Rich Auntie Supreme. Rumor has it her spirit still walks the town. Local legend says if you happen to see her ghost it’s an omen of good luck to come.
Nancy and Ace briefly open their own PI detective agency in Nick's building downtown. They begin to build a respectable reputation despite their youth. They assist Horseshoe Bay PD on "strange" cases, accept work from the town’s folk, and PI work from Carson. Nancy gets into Columbia and makes the tough choice to leave town for her education.  Grant moves in to fill her place at the agency. Things go well for a while but end up sideways when Ace suffers from an opioid addiction. Grant does his best to cover his brother’s tracks for a while but Nancy briefly must return from Columbia at his panicked behest to help him track down Ace when he goes missing on New Years Eve.  After a short stint in a detox center Ace decides to join the army on a whim without consulting anybody. He becomes a field medic first and an Army Ranger after that.
With the PI agency dissolved Grant joins the NYPD police academy (like his father *winkwinkwink*) after Ace goes to bootcamp and begins pursuing an advanced degree studying criminal psychology at NYU in hopes of someday working for the FBI as a profiler.  He naturally joins the nypd and becomes a rising star in his precinct. He and Nancy develop a close friendship while both living as students in the city and bond over their concern for Ace. Frant often lends her an assist, a quote, a clue or feeds her information for her stories.
Nancy shows up in the city at Columbia quickly becomes the darling of the journalism school and lands an internship at the school paper but after a promising freshman year is kicked out for breaking the school’s code of ethics whilst pursuing evidence that a cult is running a human trafficking ring fronting as a powerful and infamous secret society on campus that has been laundering it's profits through a fraternity's alumni donations by blackmailing a member of their executive board. After her expulsion she continues to pursue the story with encouragement from her friends and family  (in particular from Ace whom she maintains regular contact with via WRITTEN letters before he joins RRC. It’s romantic af but everything remains plutonic on the surface as is cannon, of course)  She publishes the story online. It goes viral and she's able to enter the workforce as a freelancer without her degree. She takes all kinds of assignments and has become celebrated for her thought pieces on buzzfeed, bellingcat, jezebel etc... but her bread and butter is working the crime beat in NYC.
Her sudden notoriety and reputation for being young, talented, and tenacious mean her colleagues are intimidated by her brilliance and they make her work especially hard for their respect. Despite her commercial success she's a loner and mostly isolated in the field.  She's thrilled when Bess shows up to the city looking to lay low for a while after the death of her mentor and burning some bridges in order to get out of the forgery game. She finds that she fits into city life and likes being close with Nancy and Grant after Ace's departure and George and Nick's breakup. She decides to move and she and Nancy become roommates. Bess gets a job as a bartender at Nancy’s favorite spot (a real dime store detective novel dive bar that's open in the middle of the day with low light and brick walls; maybe live music on the weekends but no marble countertops and tapas and shit) while attending Hunter college for her degree in cultural anthropology. Nancy eventually writes a true crime novel that becomes an infamous cult classic based on her experience uncovering her mother's murder and another based on her experiences with Gomber.
Bess’ graduation coincides with Ace’s homecoming and Ryan’s wedding to a renowned local artist. The crew returns to Horseshoe Bay for a couple of weeks before the ceremony for the subsequent reunions/celebrations.  While in town, the disappearance of a local girl proves to be the work of a serial killer when her body along with another girl's are found stuffed in a tree in the Gorham Woods. Nancy is hesitant to run down the story even at the behest of her editor’s pleas but decides to stay and investigate at George’s request when an arsonist burns down The Claw the night of Ryan’s reception.

Susz's Halloween Recommendations Part 1: Movies, specials and TV shows.
Movies/specials
Girl Vs. Monster (2012)
Skylar, a teenage girl who discovers on Halloween she's a fifth generation monster hunter. When Skylar accidentally releases some monsters from a containment chamber she must recapture them before they wreak vengeance on her parents.
Notes: I've been watching this since it came out and it's always been a favorite of mine! Has a great message about facing your fears and not letting them control you with the backdrop of monster hunting!
Halloweentown (1998)
When a young girl living with her good-witch grandmother learns she too is a witch, she must help her grandmother save Halloweentown from evil forces.
Notes: I watched this for the first time last year, and I was pleasantly surprised even as an 18 year old!
Hocus Pocus (1993)
A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.
Notes: another movie I watched last year, and so surprisingly dark for Disney, especially in the 90s.
The Haunted Mansion (2003)
A realtor and his wife and children are summoned to a mansion, which they soon discover is haunted, and while they attempt to escape, he learns an important lesson about the family he has neglected.
Notes: Eddie Murphy trying to keep his family safe in this haunted house? It's one of my favorites!
Scooby Doo (2002)
The Mystery Inc. gang have gone their separate ways and have been apart for two years, until they each receive an invitation to Spooky Island. Not knowing that the others have also been invited, they show up and discover an amusement park that affects young visitors in very strange ways. Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby soon realize that they cannot solve this mystery without help from each other.
Notes: this is a childhood movie of mine, and the sequel is so good as well. Definitely a good mix of spooky and fun!
Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins (2009)
A made for TV movie about the origins of the Mystery Incorporated gang.
Notes: a high school/Disney Channel style movie with horror elements starring Robbie Ammel and Hayley Kiyoko. This one is one I've been watching since it came out and it's one of my favorites.
Coraline (2009)
An adventurous 11-year-old girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.
Notes: watched this one last year and I absolutely adore it! It's so terrifying and I highly recommend.
The Boy (2016)
An American nanny is shocked that her new English family's boy is actually a life-sized doll. After she violates a list of strict rules, disturbing events make her believe that the doll is really alive.
Notes: the movie is suspenseful the whole time, and the last 15 minutes are absolutely horrifying.
Flashback (2020)
After a chance encounter with a man forgotten from his youth, Fred literally and metaphorically journeys into his past.
Notes: I watched this psychological thriller a few months ago and it has it's scary elements, but it's really interesting to see the main character descend into madness and obsession due to something in his personal life.
Edge of Winter (2016)
When two brothers are stranded by a brutal winter storm with an unpredictable father they barely know, the boys begin to suspect their supposed protector may be their biggest threat.
Notes: pretty sure this movie was filmed around the same time Captain America: Civil War, so it's very young Tom Holland, but this is a movie he is so good in. Definitely makes you wonder just how far parents are willing to go.
Hubie Halloween (2020)
Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem (and its Halloween celebration), Hubie Dubois is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something is going bump in the night, and it's up to Hubie to save Halloween.
Notes: Don't take this one seriously and you're more likely to enjoy it. Definitely more of a comedy than anything scary. Adam Sandler is very polarizing but I enjoyed this.
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count's teenaged daughter.
Notes: a family Halloween movie that really is just a fun time.
Ninjago: Day of the Departed (2016)
On the Ninjago holiday: Day of the Departed, the ninja remeber those who have departed.
Notes: Takes place in between season 6 and 7 and really explores grief as well as the concept of being forgotten. Obviously you have to watch the seasons before to understand this, but it's really interesting to watch for sure.
My Friend Dahmer (2017)
Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys in the Midwest United States between 1978 and 1991 before being captured and incarcerated. He would become one of America's most infamous serial killers. This is the story before that story.
Notes: a fascinating look into an infamous serial killer, both parts fiction and non fiction and suspenseful the whole time.
TV shows
Teen Wolf (2011-2017)
Scott becomes the eponymous teenage werewolf of the series after he is bitten by an alpha werewolf the night before his second year of high school, drastically changing his once-ordinary life.
Notes: one of my absolute favorite TV shows, and perfect for the Halloween season! Especially since the movie is coming out next year!
Only Murders in the Building (2021-)
Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, who share an obsession with a true crime podcast. After a murder in their building, the three neighbors decide to start their own show that covers their investigation of the murder.
Notes: Already fantastic and season 1 is still coming out on Hulu! The blend of comedy and horror is always one of my favorites!
Cruel Summer (2021-)
The series follows two teenage girls in the 1990s and the repercussions on everyone's lives after one disappears and the other seemingly takes her place.
Notes: this has huge triggers for domestic violence, grooming and sexual assault. If you're not triggered by that, I HIGHLY recommend this, and I'm so excited for season 2! It also has some great LGBT+ rep!
Nancy Drew (2019-)
Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans.
Notes: I've been watching this since it came out and season 3 is about to start airing! The first season is so wonderful and full of twists and turns (season 2 isn't as good, but it's the CW) and I highly recommend!
Ninjago Season 5, Possession (2015)
The spirit of the evil Morro is released from the cursed realm and the Ninjas have to unite in the battle against an evil foe.
Notes: one of my favorite seasons of the show, and definitely one of the darkest ones! Deals with grief, depression and high expectations and it's so good!
Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated (2010-2013)
Scooby-Doo and the gang attempt to solve creepy mysteries in the town of Crystal Cove, a place with a history of eerie supernatural events.
Notes: this starts off similar to the original Scooby Doo show from the early 70's, but as the overarching plot gets deeper and deeper, you really spend your time just wondering "what the heck is going on".
I'm not going to put specific episodes of TV shows on here, because that'll get daunting, but part 2 is books and fics!

How many tragedies can one person endure before they go mad ? It was a question that Sidney often asked herself in the quiet hours of the night when her brain refused to shut off. The horrific murder of her mother should have been more than enough to carry her through a lifetime –– but the killings a year later had left a mark that time would never heal. It felt like too much –– - until it all happened again. Surviving the revenge murder spree by the copycat serial killers that followed her to Windsor College should have been the final nail in the coffin to break the soul of the enduring final girl ; but she prevailed.
It had been half a year since her friends were brutally slain ( her boyfriend, Derek, included ), but the stares and whispers continued to follow her. When winter break came around, Sidney made the decision to escape her ‘fame’ for a bit and stay with her Aunt Kate Roberts in Horseshoe Bay. It was the perfect small town where no one would know her name. Just her, her aunt, and her four year old cousin for the next two weeks.
Her first day in town, Sidney decided for some fresh air and went for a walk. She eventually ended up in the Bayside Cafe, munching on some fries as she made notes to a script for a new play she was going to be in. Not a starring role this time, but it was enough to keep her mind occupied. Just as Countess Olivia was starting her monologue, Sidney heard pieces of a conversation from the staff in the restaurant –– - a  conversation she really wished she didn’t hear. Apparently the staff of the nearly empty diner were attempting to solve a murder –– or two.
The brunette did her best to keep her head down and not get involved. Unfortunately, as the strawberry blonde waitress came to refill her soda, Sidney couldn’t help but blurt out, ❝ There’d be a calling card. ❞  Looking up, as though horrified by her own interloping words, Sidney quickly tried to explain.  ❝ If you think the murders are linked by one person, then they’re doing it for recognition. They’d want to leave their signature somehow. ❞

So our Old Man Nelson is the most likely candidate to be Copperhead:
Exhibit no. A: sidling up for tea with temperance
Exhibit no. B: he had to leave Icarus Hall but he stayed to "bury Bess's cat"
Exhibit no. C: afraid of guns, probable PTSD from bomb sounds aka probable civil war PTSD from booms and cannons firing
Exhibit no. D: we've never seen them both in the same room (neither have we seen Carson and FHK but that's beside the point)
Exhibit no. E: he found Nancy in the coat closet without following her on camera (did he just happen to stumble upon a distraught emotionally vulnerable 19 yo girl in the coat closet at a crowded party?)
Exhibit no. F: (as someone pointed it out before on HAND) turning Lev in to Park's men eventually led Lev right into Temperance's hands (and tempy KNEW where they were headed because she greeted them with flies)
Exhibit no. G: he seemed right at home when in that cell in 3x09. No one is that comfortable in a supernatural serial killer's nest. Also the monogrammed handkerchief was right in his line of sight but it was only pointed out after Nelson had gotten some sort of response from Nancy or shared a "theory" about Beckett Dow's self imprisonment
Exhibit no. H: turned off the radio in 3x10. we've spoken about this before from the nace point of view, but think about it: the radio lines channeled frequencies from other dimensions/space realities right? nark/nace heard Hannah's static speak OVER Charity's. so if Ace was able to access the radio near Nancy, so could Charity?
Exhibit no. I: (strictly from the HAND server, only mine in part) icy slender man can smell Nancy. Park confessed that "he loves Nancy's hair smells like clove and citrus" that was a specific detail, usually indeed included in love confessions but WHALE
Exhibit no. J: (added by @platanchorsociety) he was following Trott's work before he came to Horseshoe Bay showing he has had an interest in frozen hearts for some time

I always think I wanna live in a tv/movie universe and then I remember what happens in all the ones I love.
Horseshoe Bay has horrible people and some terrifying demons.
Beacon Hills is actually described in the show as "the Bermuda triangle of homicides, serial killers and strange occurrences."
The Glade/The Maze is a science experiment on teens who are immune to a virus.
The MCU actually has aliens who wipe out populations.
So, it's official. I just have to live in Mission Creek. Yeah, there are bionic kids, but at least some kind of normal people live there.
