There was a time this fic's popularity frustrated me a lot but I think I've matured since then and learned that it's amazing that anything I created connected with people like this.

How much longer?

If he texts her again she’s going to lose it. Like he’s never been stuck in a meeting before. She hides her phone under the conference table, which is ridiculous since she’s the highest-ranking member in here and could surf Facebook for all anyone would care. Everyone texts their boyfriend at work, but not everyone sits on the board at Old Trafford with the Etihad’s striker waiting at home.

I’m busy.

He sends her a picture of a sheet pan full of veggies and several steaks ready for the grill. Her stomach growls, and her seat neighbor peers over at her.

“We could finish this Monday,” he mutters. “It’s not getting done done til next year anyway.”

“That’s why you’re my favorite,” she replies under her breath, and much to everyone’s delight she dismisses them all for the weekend. But it’s still another hour before she can text Sergio that she’s on her way home.

She flips through her socials in the back of the Uber. He’s been getting a bit too ballsy with his Instagram stories; that’s clearly her grill on her patio he’s filmed. Not that anyone outside her tight inner circle would recognize it. Even before they met and fell for each other, she kept a hard line between her personal life and her work life. All her accounts are private and without her full name, but she still gets nervous that someone will figure out who she is. She often thinks she’ll just delete it all.

His smiling face and dancing hips greet her at the door. “Finally,” he says, spinning her through the foyer before she can even get out of her shoes. “I’ve been waiting all day.”

“Some of us have real jobs,” she teases, letting him take the lead. She is not a dancer, in any sense of the word, but he loves to dance and apparently loves to dance with her. He dips her dramatically, a broad smile on his face. “You’re in a good mood.”

“It’s been a good week.” He plants a kiss on her, spinning her again. “And now you’re home.” Oh, he’s so handsome when he smiles. “And the steaks are almost done.”

“Good,” she laughs. “I’m starving.” He leaves her to change out of her work clothes, and by the time she’s got her sweats and slippers on he has everything laid out and ready for her to dig in. She feels luckiest when Sergio cooks.

“You haven’t moaned like that since that night in Tenerife,” he says when she takes her first bite.

“I should at least still be able to walk after dinner,” she replies. She remembers that night vividly, and while this steak isn’t quite as orgasmic, it’s pretty damn good.

“Maybe,” he winks, grabbing her thigh under the table. “Maybe not.” He watches her for a moment. He looks thoughtful.

“Thinking of Tenerife?” She is. She’s thinking they should try the thing from the balcony again.

“Thinking of when I retire.”

“Oh?” That’s new. “Something I should know?”

“No.” He squeezes her leg again. “But the day I do, you’re moving in.”

“Am I, now,” she smiles, and he nods. “What if I want you to move in here?”

He shakes his head. “You have a tiny garden. I’d kick a ball through a window.”

He’s got a point. She also realizes his retirement is still years away. “Do we have to hide for that long?”

“You’re the who’d get sacked.”

“Ass.”

“We don’t have to hide anything, amor. I’ll shout my love for you from the rooftops.” He gets to his feet, taking her chin between his thumb and forefinger to press a soft kiss to her lips. “I think you like feeling naughty, though.”

“You like feeling naughty.” Neither of them are wrong. It’s been a year, but feeling like they’re getting away with something is still a little exciting.

“I do.” He lays another kiss on her lips. “Maybe we should…” His voice trails off, his finger tracing over the neckline of her shirt. “Go get into some trouble?”

She nips at his full bottom lip with a smile. “Race you to the bedroom.”

I had planned on making this before copa américa begun, but then life happened. Better late than never, tho, right? Let's call this a celebration of Argentina's win. :D

A story about football, love, and life featuring Leo and Kun from 2005-2010. Takes place in an alternate reality with liberal use of the butterfly effect.

This feels like an account of what could have happened. Many scenes that draw on real events etc. A very beautiful story of boys who love football and each other.

A Messi Love by stillgold (69 188 words, rated E)

Kun knew he never should have had that last drink. Now he's gone and spilled his deep dark secret to Masche. And why is Kun's feelings for Leo the only secret Masche can't keep?

A good story with excellent smut.

“They were being perfectly nice,” Kun says, frowning. Instead, he takes a deep breath as the familiar scents of his teammates wash over him, trying to raise his spirits again. It’s what gives him the strength to add, “I’m allowed to do things differently here. You’re the one who was being rude.”

The a/b/o fic I didn't expect to love as much as I did.

Buenos Aires AU. Kun is part of the city's social elite, drifting without any sense of responsibility and purpose. A chance encounter with a childhood friend puts his life into perspective.

AU that has nothing to do with football. My favorite fic of all time; any genre, any fandom, any pairing. What an absolute masterpiece. It broke my heart, but in the most beautiful way. I cried, and then I cried some more. And then i reread it.

Prayers by ren_makoto (3418 words, rated E)

How do you worship a god? Kun Aguero shows his reverence to one D10S de Futbol. But gods can be spoiled, complicated creatures...

"He's seen fans almost kill themselves jumping down from the stands to hug Leo, kiss him, bow down at his feet. Nearly drowning themselves to swim to his yacht. He's seen fans cry in joy when Leo gives them his shirt or a hug. This is his equivalent, Kun imagines. This is as close as he comes to praying anymore."

Hot and a bit angsty. Actually really angsty if you think about it.

Nobody approaches him, perhaps aware that he's fighting to maintain his composure. The Icelandic players are respectful enough that they give him his space, while the Argentine players are wise enough to know that he needs it.

There's a light touch against his bare back then, right against his waistband, and Leo lowers his shirt to glare.

I just love it when Kun get's a little angry. I mean I also love it when he gives Leo anything he needs, but when he puts his foot down, it makes for very good plot. This fic has that.

Make it better by brightcrystal (4324 words, rated E)

After Argentina's semi-final defeat against Brazil in the Copa América 2019, Leo is devastated and Kun wants to help him feel better. Going down a familiar path is the easy choice, but is it the right one when the kisses are mixed with bitter tears of disappointment?

A bit of fluff, a bit of angst, and a bit of smut. Can't go wrong with that.

It seems like it on the pitch, but maybe that skill translates here too—maybe it sees Kun’s yearning, his hunger, his ache, his everything—all for Messi, todo por el.

“Well, hello, then.” The guy makes a few wide steps towards Leo. He shakes Leo’s hand and even pulls him for a quick hug.

“I’m Sergio. But you can call me Kun. Or you can call me Sergio. Whichever you prefer,” he says. It’s amazing how he can say all of that without losing that smile from his lips.

Kun likes to watch cartoons with Marcos. They go over old episodes of Spongebob or Hey Arnold while drinking some mate. At Marcos’ house, they play FIFA. They never choose their Manchester teams. It’s always a team they haven’t played for.

- Marcos has the habit of snacking. He likes food and somehow always needs nutrients. Kun didn’t miss the match where Marcos got a banana from his mister. He didn’t really let Rojo live that down. Because Marcos can eat lunch at a certain time but not an hour later he’s going for some chips or an apple. Kun teases that Marcos only eats when he’s bored, but Marcos insists it’s because he has a high metabolismX

- Kun is afraid of storms. It reminds him of a time in his childhood where a huge rainstorm went rampant through his city. He got caught in it because he was out playing football by himself. A large sea - well it looked like the sea at that age - separated him from his home, and he remembers standing there, arms apart as he cried for his parents. Marcos is there with him during those times now. He always wraps his arms around Kun and kisses Kun’s neck. He whispers comfortingly, saying, “It will pass. It will pass.”
