Enoch L. Moffett
The Wandering Ranger
Moffett was born and raised in rural Kentucky, and took up his father's trade of blacksmithing. He worked the trade until the breakout of the American Civil War, during which the political turmoil in Kentucky caused him to travel east to find some fighting to join.
He fell in with the 43rd Cavalry, Virginia Partisan Rangers, "Mosby's Men", who conducted irregular warfare in Northern Virginia. Assigned to Company F upon recruitment, Moffett saw some of the wildest combat the Rangers faced. However, he was a very strong and well-built fellow, supposedly able to take on the likes of his Lieutenant "Big Yankee" Ames in a hand-to-hand fight. So he was able to abide in combat.
While with the Rangers, Moffett learned how to shoot a gun proper, navigate hostile environments, and to stay quiet when the enemy was all around him.
After the was was over and the Rangers disbanded, Moffett decided to travel West like many other veterans did, hoping to seek new fortunes. Following along the wagon trains, he eventually found himself in Wyoming, where he was a cowboy for several years. He found the work monotonous and the pay low. So thereafter he threw in as a bounty hunter.
One time, he was commissioned to go after a prolific thief and murderer. Bringing in the bounty would make him a rich man, so he went and traveled to the last known location of his target: the Neath.
Moffett found himself very much a foreigner in Fallen London, but he persisted anyway. After supposedly causing a ruckus when he started a gunfight in the middle of the city, he was knocked out, kidnapped, and brought to a very bright place he didn't know.
He wasn't quite himself after that.

All the bad stuff they did to me and i actively remember (because so many people treated me bad so most of the stuff they did became normal to me) :
When i had a DOFE (duke of edinburg award) ceremony in my school all four of them asked if they could come (since only i was the one recieving the award) and i said yes please i need someone i know in the audience. When i actually walked up to get the award? None of them were there.
One of them was writing a test from chemistry and i was supposed to write the exact same one few days later. Same questions and all. I asked her multiple times to at least tell me what parts to focus on the most and yet she never had the time. Until the night before the exam. Real fast girl. Real fast.
Ironically i asked the same girl to study with me before graduation and yet she stayed silent every time I texted her about it. I also asked if i could study with her and her bestie i was so deslerate. They both said sure but when the day actually came both of them were silent and i studied alone.
Week before graduation i messaged into the group chat and asked for a tutorial to this one chemistry problem. Only one person of the three (the fourth one wasn't graduating from chemistry so i don't blame her) responded and said no. After i figured it out on my own i stupidly sent a pic of it to the group chat but the same person that told me no said she already had it written in her notes but didn't understand it. Bitch i asked for a picture of the sequence, i would've figured it out from that. I didn't ask you to explain it to me. And so i wisely deleted the picture.
And lastly today. Actually they were talking about it like a week ago but i was busy and didn't check my notifications at all so i barely knew what they were discussing. Today i found out that the four of them rented a volleyball court for an hour or so. For 4 people max. All four of them talked about how to get to the place and stuff. I was left out. Like a fool.
I'm not close to 3 of them anymore. The fourth one... I can't really make a war with her because i'm going on a very expensive trip with her and i don't want the money to go to waste by not going.
My plan for now? Lay low. Not send anything in the group chat. Not react. Not speak unless spoken to. I'll mind my own business. If they want to meet up without me sure go ahead, have fun. Wanna hang out with me as well and even ask me? Fine. I'll go. But only because i have to. Summer ends and i'm done. (which will be hard af because one of them is going to the same university as me but oh well, she'll find herself a new group of friends and leave me)
#personal#rant#fake friends (kinda?)#am i overreacting?#please someone tell me if i'm overreacting and i'm actually being a bitch right now#thank you

Season 2, Episode 9: the African Ice Caper for @csweekly
So. Happy Fathers Day weekend in the U.S. Carmen finds out what happened to hers today 😬
I love the urgency this episode begins with. It's so frantic. Such the perfect follow up to the mood we left off in the previous episode. “She’s been out in the cold all night”. I mapped out how long it takes to get from one end of Stockholm to the other and it definitely does not take all night. I wonder if the ice lodge is way further north of the city. ALSO THAT IS VERY VERY VERY SERIOUS FROSTBITE. Carmen is super fortunate she kept all of her limbs let alone is alive.
IVY CALLING SHADOWSAN CARMEN’S FAMILY MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME. She’s come around!!! It’s like she can sense in Shadowsan’s moment of vulnerability, of genuineness, that he really does care. Ivy strikes me as someone who has had to look out for her brother emotionally and physically. And against adults that don’t actually care about them. She was watching him close for Carmen’s sake and now she gives her approval.
“I CAME AS SOON AS I COULD” Shadowsan really does sound stressed and worried. I can feel it in the voice acting. Can you imagine the conversation when Player broke the news to him.
And they get her out of the hospital, probably as soon as Shadowsan gets there. Very real possibility that VILE could have found and extracted her from there.
I love the montage so much. Shadowsan realizing what he needs to do. He and Player falling into a seamless routine (I need to write a fic about this time). All so that Carmen can just *rest*. I love how she’s animated here. She’s just a little restless but also peaceful. Zack and Ivy cleaning up and making hq a *home*
Carmen’s DREAM. So excellent we get to really see what’s on her heart and mind. She’s really considering Chief’s request, she wants to trust, she wants to be comfortable and have someone have her back…but like Brunt shows up she’s terrified of it all going wrong. Of being vulnerable and almost dying again. Of someone she thought she trusted turning on her. Unable to control her own destiny.
Carmen has a dream and so does Devineaux. The man is mad but smart. I love how his mind uses Julia to help him figure it out. It’s so bizarre by the end but it really does start out normal ish. And I LOVE it. Such a cool sequence.
And after she wakes she is immediately back at it. Scared herself into going back to work.
I have new appreciation for Player being able to call up Carmen’s laptop without her having to click an answer call button. We have something like that recently to be able to video chat with my 93 year old grandmother. But also I’d like to express how sweet it is that the team set the laptop there so that Player COULD see how Carmen is doing any time he wants. Would be a sweet fic of everybody having a one sided chat with Carmen while she’s sleeping.
ALL THREE are apprehensive over Carmen going back into the field. But ultimately none of them can really tell her no, particularly after she promises to keep it easy.
Ivy mother henning Carmen is the BEST. I know Carmen is in charge but really Ivy is the mom friend of the group. Instincts from looking after Zack. That she probably had to develop really early.
“Guess you caught me lion” never change
And now Player has officially warmed up to Shadowsan, just as Zack and Ivy have. The look on Carmen’s face is heartwarming, soft and relieved. Everything is fine they’re all on one page everything is perfect it’s not like ANYTHING COULD MESS THAT UP NOW.
I’m so glad we got to see a Shadowsan solo caper. He’s so efficient and that fight on the cable cars ROCKED. Sliding down the cable to the bottom??? Giving Le Chevre the diamonds back only to knock him out? AND DELIVERING A ZINGER after he’s unconscious so no one will know. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Also Le Chèvre’s little defeated shrug to the “you were followed??!”
I love Red Drone’s existence. Definitely a joint venture with Ivy and Player, hardware and software.
I remember when I first saw the episode I gasped that Brunt was there. Did not expect and I immediately feared for Carmen. When Tigress finds her and says the “let’s have Coach Brunt look at your injuries” that is peak threat. I screamed in delight. Thank you Ivy and Zack for being literally the best concerned friends ever. Loved Ivy’s little dilemma there between trusting Carmen the boss and knowing Carmen her friend is very human and can indeed almost die.
Also did they bring that entire desktop computer with them?
Protective Player my favorite strikes again and he was halfway right. Love the timing of Tigress right there and by the end of the episode…Brunt does let her walk.
Chase Devineaux. Single handedly figures out what no one else is even close to, the location of VILE (even though the map is incorrect it makes me scream but I’ll still give Chase his credit). Loved his little arc here. This is the beginning of when he turns it around. This is the little seed that Julia planted growing into a sapling. Because once s3 hits, he’s going to get that revelation. It’s SUCH a good arc I can’t wait to watch it unfold again.
The cat jokes lol
“HUNTING”
The whole scene with Tigress vs the sibs is fantastic. Carmen knew exactly what she was doing.
Oh but I love that taking Tigress out of the game is what puts Carmen on a time table. She takes time to discuss it over with Player at least but her mind is basically made up. Her dream at the beginning showed us her heart in that. Ultimately, she wants to take down VILE, if ACME can help, that’s pressure off of her.
Also protective Player again. But Carmen’s response back “you used to say the same about Shadowsan” is an excellent point. I hate that her trust in both gets shaken over this episode and the next. And I get the sense Player hates being right.
Player’s “for Carmen’s safety, right?” Which I do think is what Shadowsan had in mind. He doesn’t know who this Chief is and he has more extensive knowledge of VILE and the criminal underworld in general. He wants to make sure he doesn’t recognize her from any of that.
But he does recognize her.
This episode is full of team concern over Carmen’s well being and I’m living.
Roundabout’s character is really cool. He really shows exactly how deeply entrenched VILE is everywhere. They have literally the perfect system. It’s even more impressive how Carmen takes them down herself with her small team. (More fangirl when we get to the London caper)
My heart gets racing when Player and Red Drone almost get found. Very close indeed.
I gotta feel for Chief a little here. She really thinks she’s got Carmen almost recruited.
IS THAT A SeaGULL. PLEASE 😂😂😂 I desperately want someone in team red to also have that bad of acting for fake illness for the parallel ~~Carmen please it would be so funny she already crashes cars~~
Cool action sequence where Carmen gets to save someone from a bomb. Very dramatic. She really has to be extra and slide over the top of the vehicle instead of exiting like a normal person.
Also so clever from a writing perspective to use the explosion to free Tigress. As a fan of angst I love the immediate danger it puts Ivy and Zack in.
The EPIC misunderstandings continue. I love how we as an audience are treated to the full story and clearly each individual team is not. VILE has thought this whole time Carmen is working with ACME when the reality is that she JUST started. Love this stuff.
Hmmm the train scene : D love how distracted Carmen is. She’s just trying to sort out her feelings on this whole ACME collaboration. VILE always leaves. She has NO reason to think anyone stayed behind. So when Boris is at the door when she opens….her EXPRESSION of dawning fear is IMMACULATE. As is her progression. Fear to defiance to uncertainty as she explains what she knows about Shadowsan in Argentina. She is terrified right now.
I hear that barely disguised panic as you wake up Carmen. 100% justified.
“A world of hurt. It’s a comin.” I LOVE this line. Because a first time watcher is set to believe that Brunt is going to pound Carmen into dust, as at the end of s1 but worse because no one is there to save her. BUT the hurt isn’t physical it’s emotional and WHaT a bombshell it is. It’s incredibly telling that Carmen is begging Brunt not to go, to tell her more, even though Brunt literally attempted to murder Carmen not that long ago. I remember quite literally gasping aloud.
Man what a cliffhanger. Carmen is left alone tied up and only with her own thoughts. Screaming.

Writing Snippet #1
This is a discarded prologue. It is written from a POV that quite frankly had no impact on the story, it also doesn't help that I wrote this approximately five years ago now. It's also the second attempt at this sequence. It also portrays a discarded version of the character Auden, before they had finished unfurling into the being they are in the current narrative. Enjoy this clunky old piece of writing.
It started like any other day.
Well, at least it seemed to. She woke before the sun rose, was listening to the radio through her head set and looking out the hotel window. She was fully dressed, off in whatever fantasyland she’d been reading about that week. If at that moment I had bothered to read her expression. I would have noticed that she was frowning. But I sat up and sent my gaze into the adjoined hotel room where I could hear my other friends grumbling as they woke. I had called out to them, asking what today’s plan was. Asking her specifically what café she wanted to visit, because I owed her a raspberry tea.
We had decided, being young and infallible, that going to the beautiful city of San Francisco after Graduating High school was a good game plan. A couple weeks pretending to be preppy shopaholic city girls. All while getting to see the sights with the eldest of our group being the tour guide. Then head off to college ready to start our next step in life. We drove in an older minivan that could seat the nine of us. Chatting, laughing, screaming, crying, yelling, and most of all singing our way from a small town east of Yellowstone a couple hundred miles to California. Nothing could go wrong, we had told ourselves and each other. We’re all together ready to take on the great big world of adulthood.
We were oh so wrong.
We had left the hotel that slightly brisk summer day, with smiles on our faces as we went to the nearest open book shop. We had a good deal of fun skimming the newer books, laughing at the clichés we were finding. Werewolf men and drama queens, fighting over some poor nerd who wasn’t even interested. Ha!
Now that I think about it, she didn’t laugh as loudly that day as she normally would. Her lips were extra red from her nervous chewing, as she walked the shelves with the books of legends bound in gold. The tales of heroes such as those were always a favorite. Her fingers had been gentle, as if she was saying goodbye to one of her art pieces. Her hair, once again cut short, hung in a messy gold curtain over her face as she looked at an antique copy of The Sword in the Stone. Her eyes had been sad. For something that I now know had yet to happen.
After a couple more stops, Fate found us crossing a street. Sometimes I swore I could see the magic that exploded from the oldest of my friends at that moment. After it was over, she told me that she had been looking up at the sky as a butterfly flew through her vision. That she had felt the pull on her right hand as I tried to pull her out of the way. The harsh sting of the man’s magic as he tried to teleport back to his home world, to avoid the car; when he slammed into her shoulder. Sending her into the car's path. How she registered the scent of the burning breaks. Acidic in my own memory. But she stressed, that wasn’t what had her attention as her body fell asleep and her soul was ripped away to another world. No she was focused on the horror and regret in the poor woman, who was driving the cars, eyes.
Looking back. I think she knew that this was only the catalyst. That she had seen the aliens that morning while she watched the sunrise. That she had been waiting for it. I think that she knew she was going to lose her mortal life. I think she knew she was going to die that day.
All I can say on the matter now is that wherever she was taken, when she came back she was a hero. Even if her scars told a different story. And as her friend I had just held on to the fact that she would return because I owed her a raspberry tea.

(re)Watching Magia Record S1 - part 7
part 6 here
Hello everyone and welcome back to this quasi-watchalong of Magia Record season 1! Last time, Iroha met a magical girl mercenary called Felicia, and the two ended up caught in the Rumor of the Lucky Owl Water. When our girls went to erase it, a cult group of weirdos called The Wings of the Magius stood in their way and got Felicia to join them promising the extinction of all witches.
Who are these weirdos? What are they up to protecting the Rumors? Is what they promised Felicia true? Et cetera, et cetera. Let's just go to the episode to find out already.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record S1 episode 7
O-oh... what a way to start an episode, huh.
We get a look into what led to Felicia becoming a magical girl and, like most magical girl backstories, it's tragic. This is the reason why Felicia's obsessed with destroying all witches.
Continuing from the previous episode, Felicia was taken to a subterranean waterway, that might be their hideout. Wait, didn't Kaede say something about a rumor of a giant underground empire some time back? She might've been right after all hahaha
After walking a while, Felicia is met by Tsukasa and Tsukuyo Amane, two of the, uh, generals I guess I could say, of The Wings of the Magius.
The weirdo twins explain that their organization's objective is fulfilling the wishes of the Magius, whose objective is the salvation of all magical girls. See, so they are the ones behind the salvation propaganda.
The twins say their objective cannot be completed without the eradication of witches, which... well, is not a lie. Without the witchfication, there would be no witches. It's all fine until there, but then they're also protecting Rumors, who kidnap people, so... yeah.
...uh, hey, Kyoko? What are you doing here?
Back to Iroha's group, Iroha is worried about just letting Felicia go like that, to which Yachiyo answers it's fine because she planted a GPS on her... sasuga, Yachiyo. Why in the heck did you have that?
"Am I being tracked too...?”
Yachiyo says this much is normal (no it's not), since she didn't trust Felicia to begin with, but Iroha just feels bad knowing Felicia's circumstances.
The trio heads towards Felicia's position and find the entrance to the waterway. Waiting for them there was...
Chibi Kyuubei. For as adorable as he is, he manages to look even more suspicious than the original. And he only shows up when there's a rumor around, too! I don't trust him.
Back at the underground waterway, Kyoko and Felicia are having a little chat. According to her, Kyoko only just ran into them too. She says that as long as she has Grief Seeds, food and a place to sleep, the rest doesn't matter, but she also seems to be aware that the WoM are fishy. Felicia agrees uneasily, but hearing that they might be behind the witches gathering in Kamihama seems to already have put doubts in her mind.
The two have a meeting with the Amane twins inside the Rumor's barrier.
The twins explain the logic behind the Lucky Owl Water once again, and Kyoko says this
There it is! This series' core. Funny hearing that from Kyoko, since I think she doesn't even know how right she is yet.
Kyoko rejects the Water and lays out her terms: as long as she can keep gathering Grief Seeds, she's fine with anything. However, the twins affirm that those are not necessary in Kamihama. Normally, I'd say these two are bonkers, but... well, we saw what happened to Iroha and Kaede. These two must know about that too. At this moment, a black feather comes in and interrupts their little show.
Iroha's group was making their way through the waterway when the Amane twins block their way and, together with them, Kyoko and Felicia.
The Amane twins tell Iroha to do what they say if she doesn't want to be swallowed by bad luck and Iroha asks them why would they create that Rumor, to which the twins once more say it's for the sake of the Magius and their salvation. See, cult.
Yachiyo cuts to the chase and confirms they're here to battle, and the twins pull out something strange on them.
So, yeah. There's pocket monsters, and now we have pocket witches too, apparently.
The twins called a witch upon our girls, which, according to them, they are controlling with magic. As the girls begin fighting against their familiars, Yachiyo asks the twins if they have any idea of what exactly they're doing. Tsukasa apologizes, but affirms that witches will be gone if they can realize their plans. The twins (literally) pull the rug on Yachiyo and Tsuruno and chase after them, leaving the (weak) Iroha to Kyoko and Felicia.
Iroha gets whacked by the familiars and Felicia comes in to help. Iroha then once again dashes in her direction and they do a connect. Upon further thought, I think Iroha's assist is a booster in a more literal sense, since it turned Felicia's hammer into a rocket-hammer. My theory is that it's the same propulsion magic that makes her crossbow work.
Felicia's hammer causes a quake and one of the twins asks what's going on. Well, what did you think would happen if you released a witch in front of someone who notoriously goes berserk when they see witches? The twins might not be very smart.
Damn, I missed a number.
Kyoko bounces too. She wasn't very convinced with the twins' vague talk of "salvation".
After transforming, Kyoko does her good act of the day, busting a hole in the barrier and telling Iroha to go on ahead. Iroha hesitates to leave her friends behind but obeys when Yachiyo tells her to go.
With Kyoko guarding her back Iroha manages to make it out of the witch's p*kéball and into the Rumor's barrier. Like it's said, out of the frying pan into the fire. Oh and there's 7-6. I'm really missing numbers left and right today.
No Iroha, don't go chase the Kyuubei towards the light...! Just kidding. Iroha gets out of the tunnel and finds the Rumor's main body. She confirms with her tutorial mascot if she only has to break that, readies her crossbow and... gets swarmed by owls. C'mon Iroha, did you really think it'd be that easy?
While Iroha's busy sucking at battles, Felicia's not having a better time with her reckless style either. Kyoko saves her ass and tells her she's not winning like that.
This whole sequence is just great in terms of animation, shame I can't really screenshot that T-T
As someone on a similar spot, Kyoko gives Felicia some advice, telling her she's a magical girl for her own sake; that's how it should be when she's betting her own life.
The two cooperate on destroying the witches, with Felicia bonking the whole barrier to smithereens. Nice job, rocket-hammer!
The girls go back to the waterway and the twins' Soul Gem is quite drained. Tsuruno tells them to stop already, but these two weirdos say that's just what they wanted.
Saying that they'll be able to show that Kamihama is a place of salvation, the two do the same thing Iroha and Kaede had done.
Uhhh... if the salvation that the Magius is preaching is spewing out a witch from your body, that's already super fishy. There's no way there's no downside to this. This is Madoka we are talking about... right...?
While Yachiyo's group learns a shocking and disturbing truth, Iroha's busy getting her ass kicked. Poor Iroha
and oh god, I don't think anyone would ever catch this number if they weren't pausing as much as I am to write this.
Iroha keeps getting wrecked by the owls, miraculously escaping unscathed thanks to the Lucky Owl Water. As the numbers keep counting down, Iroha starts questioning what happened to her back in the Seance Shrine. Uh, Iroha, is this really the best time to be introspecting?
No matter how many times I see it, this scene still creeps me out.
While Iroha gets another round of spawning a witch, Yachiyo's group fight the twins', to no avail. Back to Iroha...
Oh no the witch talks now? Eek... oh, wait wait is this still Iroha's voice?
Not that the first thing it said is wrong, but Yachiyo's words really remained in a negative manner, huh? First in the Seance Shrine and now this. Iroha, don't go getting yourself killed trying to become stronger, ok?
A-at least it's a bit cuter now... if you can call a witch that... rather, why did it change?
Iroha's thing makes short work of the Rumor and the Chibi Kyuubei peaces out. As if it wasn't suspicous enough, it turns into freaking water. Goddammit Chibi Kyuubei.
Iroha just lies there tired.
Uhh... yeah, sure, if you count an eldritch abomination coming out of you as part of yourself, then yeah you did.
Like last time, Iroha's Soul Gem is pristine clean now.
Back to the twins, thanks to the floating water falling they realize that the Rumor's been defeated , then start panicking.
"Someone", whose voice we're already familiar with, comes in to check on the situation and the twins apologize for their failure.
Whelp, this is awkward. Hello there, Mifuyu. So you joined a cult.
Tsuruno gets really emotional. She runs up and hugs Mifuyu. who stops the Black Feathers from attacking her. Tsuruno's really glad that she's back and says they'll have to make a "Welcome Back Party" at her family's restaurant, but Mifuyu says she's not going back, because she's part of the cult The Wings of the Magius now. (couldn't they choose a shorter name for their group? Geez)
Mifuyu shifts her attention to Yachiyo and says she's happy that they went even to Seance Shrine to search for her; Yachiyo says it's thanks to the Kamihama Rumor Files (the notebook Yachiyo carries around) that she left behind.
Yachiyo asks but Mifuyu implies she's the one that was left behind.
Mifuyu invites Yachiyo to join the cult but Yachiyo, obviously, can't agree with their methods. She questions if Mifuyu hadn't resolved herself as a magical girl but Mifuyu, like we saw in the flashback, really wants to be saved. Yachiyo's the only one who's strong like that.
Yachiyo says she'll stop her by force if she has to and they prepare to battle again, but Mifuyu uses her magic and has her group leave.
Iroha's group leave the underground waterway (seems Kyoko has gone her way already too). Felicia tries to leave too and says she has nowhere to go back to when Iroha stops her and asks, so Iroha tells her to come over to her place.
Felicia says she doesn't have to do that for her, but Iroha says she's doing this for herself, that she needs Felicia's strenght. Felicia argues that Iroha will get in trouble again if she's around and all the girls chip in saying they'll help her learn to hold herself back. (I'm not sure what this far framing is doing but I do like how it lets us see the body expression of all the girls at once.)
Huh, weird, why is the screen so blurry? I can't type like this...
Iroha apologizes for what they said and insists on having Felicia over, even if just for the day. Yachiyo comes in and tells them to stay over at her place instead.
*sobs* so beautiful ;-; I wish I knew the name of the ost track here it's really pretty too.
It really is Kyoko, it really is.
At Yachiyo's place, Iroha's on the phone with her parents while the others wait for her to eat. It seems like her parents finally decided on where she's going to be moving to, and whatever they said was a surprise.
There goes the last number! The Rumor's gone so this has to be purely for the sake of finishing the countdown, but I have long given up on trying to find the ones I'm missing in this episode.
And there's the title card. Don't leave the episode yet, though, as there's still an after credits scene.
To absolutely no one's surprise besides Iroha's, the place her parents decided on is Mikadzuki Villa, Yachiyo's place. Now, I did say that last number must be purely illustrative, but I'm inclined to agree with Iroha here on it being thanks to the Lucky Owl Water since there is no other way I can rationalize Iroha's parents, from overseas, managing to find the phone number of Mikadzuki Villa, that's not even doing boarding anymore, calling while Yachiyo's around to respond, making an agreement to let Iroha live there, and Yachiyo not even telling Iroha her parents called. So yeah, I say it was the Lucky Owl Water.
Felicia comes with Tsuruno and reveals she's also been living in Yachiyo's place. She's happy she'll be freed from living alone with Yachiyo and her "nagging" and Yachiyo tells her to clean up; Iroha says she's glad to see them getting along.
“When did I turn into a mom?“
That's a new type of bishie sparkles alright. Can all models do this? Is it like some special ability like Gabs' censor light rays? We'll never know.
After the various types of ad, now we have spam too. Magia Record is actually warning us about the dangers of the internet.
...In all seriousness though, that's some mysterious text. How do they, whoever "they" are, know that Iroha's a magical girl? And most of all, how do they have her number? Guess this is going to be the mystery for the next episode. (Also, I never noticed this before but you can hear a veeeery quiet chime when the messages come in. Nice detail!).
- x -
Aaaand with that, we have concluded episode 7! This one also ran on longer than I expected and, surprisingly, managed to surpass the number of screenshots of all others at about 43 images. sugoi
I couldn't catch all the numbers this time, but the ones I did were: 13-12 with Iroha on the bridge; 10-9 when Kyoko "betrays" the WoM; 7-6 when Iroha finds the Rumor; 6 through 1 happen while Iroha's fighting the Rumor and the last 1-0 was in Yachiyo's magazine. With that, I'm missing 12-11; 11-10; 9-8 and 8-7, which I have no idea where they are. Oh well.
I realized partway through that it kinda seems like I'm dissing Iroha every chance I get, but I assure you I don't hate her. In fact, she's my favorite character! This is coming purely from a place of affection, and a bit of frustration at what the anime did to her character, so don't mind me, it's aaall good.
With that out of the way, this was episode 7! We are now over halfway through, with a buckload of mysteries and barely any progress being made towards finding Iroha's younger sister. Poor Ui, if you even existed. Tomorrow, we'll be watching episode 8, so I hope you'll read me again then. Have a great morning/afternoon/evening and see you later!

oh boy the sequence of events that led me to transformers is so random and if not one thing out of a list of many things happened i wouldn’t be here answering transformers asks today
saw wavewave art on twitter tl by sarah stone, never saw these characters before, i thought “hey shockwave looks pretty cool and i like the masked one” so i asked my friend if she knew these characters so she asked her OTHER friend who was into transformers about them, essentially putting us three in a group chat where the transformers friend proceeded to meticulously lure me in with MTMTE senator shockwave’s story and i fell for it hook line and sinker and then i read all of IDW and binged a bunch of tf shows and now here we are so if i hadn’t seen that one piece of fanart on my tl, or told my friend about it (which i dont normally do lol), or for my friend to actually recognize it, or for her to have texted her transformers friend, or for me being interested in shockwave’s backstory, i would probably be super bored during quarantine but 6 months later now its us three in a discord server going “oooooooooaaa” and gushing about obscure transformers characters and im convinced this is the best timeline and since i recognize that emoticon face anywhere, YOU! YEAH YOU! ANON WHOM I KNOW THE NAME OF! THANKS FOR INTRODUCING ME TO TRANSFORMERS I OWE MY QUARANTINE SUMMER TO YOU

Price to be Paid - Chapter 31
Wahoo my favorite chapter, read on AO3
The bliss from your wedding could only last so long, and you knew that, but it didn’t lessen the blow when things had to return to normal.
“This is it, Dutch, our last big score!”
Hosea had poured over a map of Saint Denis for days mapping every possible route into the bank, the job Dutch claimed over and over was going to save the gang.
“I’m telling you, this is the way to do the job. The best way! The distraction will buy you all the time you need.”
Arthur groaned from underneath you. You had fallen asleep in the morning sun and the voices from downstairs carried far too much for your liking, waking you up to the harsh light of day.
“All they talk about lately is that damn job,” Arthur muttered. “If I heard ‘Saint Denis bank’ one more time I am going to lose it.”
“Arthur!” Dutch yelled from the bottom of the stairs. “Get down here, we need your help with this.”
The past few weeks since your wedding had been as blissful as they could when you lived with a large group of people on the run from the law. You and Arthur had enjoyed many free days where no one asked a thing of you. The lake was the perfect spot for picnics and more than once Arthur had suggested you slip away and relax at the water side. It was perfect and everything you could hope it would be.
But all good things had to end.
“I’m coming! Arthur hollered back. He groaned as he sat up and you decided it was best to greet the day as well.
“You know they trust you, that’s what they’re trying to say,” you spoke as you dressed.
“They sure have a strange way of showing it.”
You were quick to follow Arthur down the stairs, greeting folks as they passed. Most were still rubbing the sleep from their eyes or drinking a cup of coffee.
“I...I don’t like it.”
Dutch’s hesitation was palpable. For days he had been telling Hosea something about this job felt off, his intuition saying this was not the way. It struck you as odd because Dutch had been searching for one more score, one big was out and when presented with the idea he shrugged it off.
You leaned against the doorframe watching Arthur approach the bickering old men. They went back and forth, agreeing and disagreeing about the best way to proceed.
“It’s the right plan. We’ve done the work. I’ve been in town, looking, watching and waiting. I’ve tested it as well as I can. It’s the right plan.”
“I know,” Dutch chucked at how worked up Hosea had become. “I know. But between us, I’m...nervous. I suppose that’s it.”
Hosea placed a hand on Dutch’s shoulder and squeezed. “You’re never nervous, that’s been my job all these years.”
It was clear Hosea was leading this robbery. He had timed the whole operation out and wanted it to move like clockwork, each cog and arm greased up and ready to go. You could see a younger man shining through; one who spent days and weeks putting heists together, using each member of the gang in s specific sequence so everything would be just right.
As the three men got to talking, Micah walked in and watched behind you. It was unpleasant to have him over your shoulder but you remembered your vow to keep the peace with him as best you could.
“What’re they planning in there?”
“Bank job. Last one to get us out of here,” you responded softly.
“The big bank? In Saint Denis?” Micah scoffed. “That’s one lofty goal for our ragtag crew, don’t you think?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know, Hosea has it all planned out. What could go wrong?”
“Oh, girlie, there’s plenty could go wrong. But let’s hope none of it does and we make out on top.” Micah shot you a wink that made you shutter and walked back out the front doors, taking off for somewhere or something in town.
“Every plan is a good plan if we execute it properly. Every problem we ever had was because we did not execute properly.”
Hosea spoke impassioned. He needed Dutch to see he was right.
“You’re right.” Dutch stood dramatically and looked between his lifelong partners in crime. “Let’s rob this bastard. We’ll leave tomorrow morning. Look smart. Travel light.”
The leader passed you with a half smile before going to track down Mrs. Grimshaw and Pearson to tell them of the new plan. At least we had some notice this time and didn’t have to throw everything around in a hurry.
Arthur asked you to help clean the room and you packed together, chatting to keep the nerves away. There had been a moment where he wanted you to go with Hosea and stay away from the action but you refused; if your husband was going in so were you. He didn’t fight you on that very long.
The thought of leaving Shady Belle filled you with melancholy. It was strange to think that one building could hold so many memories from just a short time. The gang really hadn’t been there that long but they had managed to make a lasting impact that could be seen as you walked the halls for one of the last times. You had to look forward; things would be better. How much more suffering and pain could one group take?
You found Abigail playing outside with Jack later in the evening, staring up at the night sky and admiring the stars. You plopped down next to her and tilted your own head back, thinking about the heavens.
“You ever wonder if our destinies are planned?”
“I sure hope not. To think that someone put all of this together for us means we have no free will, no choice would be our own. And they would put us through all that pain!”
“Sometimes...I guess it’s just nice to think that I wasn’t the one who made all the mistakes in my life. That I could blame someone else for the way things turned out.”
Abigail spoke in hushed tones but never looked down from the sky. Her words echoed in your mind.
“Your life isn’t full of mistakes, it’s full of love.”
“Yeah,” she snorted. “Sometimes a bit too much love if you know what I mean.”
She and John had been fighting again. From your shared room with Arthur you could hear them through the walls going on about raising Jack and trying to show him a better life.
“Jack will be just fine, he’s got a lot of us who care. And so will you. You know I’ll never leave, you’ve got a friend for life.” You wrapped your arm around her shoulders and sat like that, enjoying the view and marveling at the size of the world around you.
It was hard to sleep that night.
You tossed and turned with anticipation of the next day, knowing everything would be different after the sun rose up in the sky. It could be a good change; like fire burning away the underbrush to allow for new life. Or it could be disastrous.
The dichotomy of the choices made you restless.
Arthur shook your shoulder gently that it was time to go. It was much too early, and the terrible night of sleep made it hard to drag your body from the warm bed and you tossed it a sad smile knowing it was the last time you would see the room you called home.
The look on your face must have told Arthur something for he gave your hand a squeeze after you met him at the bottom of the stairs.
“You know what?” He looked at you softly. “At the end of today, we’re going to look back and know we did everything right. We faced the day together as wife and husband. I’m never letting you go.”
With a kiss to your hand you felt your confidence rise back into place. All it needed was a boost from Arthur. Today was going to go smoothly, nothing could bring you down from the high of life you were riding.
Everyone was dressed to the nines. Fine black suits with hats for the men, and clean flowing gowns adorned every woman. It was almost as if you were headed to a Sunday mass instead of a bank robbery. Even Jack had found a flower to stick in his coat pocket.
“You got everything Arthur?” Dutch called as he handed Hosea a suitcase to load into a wagon.
Arthur nodded. “Sure, house is cleared out of everything we could grab.”
“Just think!” Hosea spoke up brightly. “Within six weeks we’ll be living life anew in a tropical idyll spending the last of our days as banana farmers?”
The plan was for Hosea and Abigail to serve as the distraction. On their wagon sat crates of dynamite that when lit, would bring enough police attention that the robbery in town wouldn’t be able to pull them all away, giving the group enough time to slip out unnoticed. Hosea had looked over the details for days on end and everyone trusted him to know this plan backwards and forwards, no small part missed.
You were riding in and acting with the robbery. At first, Arthur had asked that you go with Hosea and Abigail for they were far less likely to be caught. But to you that was out of the question. Now that you and Arthur were married you didn’t want him running off into battle alone, something you had to repeat over and over before Hosea finally relented and added you to the bank detail. It just made sense that you would be there.
With your nerves shoved to the back of your mind, you sat next to Arthur on Eclipse as Zues stamped his feet anxiously.
“Let’s get out of this god forsaken place and go rob ourselves a bank!”
A chorus of cheers rang out as the gang envisioned what life could be like after today. No more running and hiding, no more threats from the law, no more being told that their way of life was wrong or backwards, just freedom and the incredible feeling of hot sand between your toes.
You were more than ready to be out of this place.
Micah led the group up and out of Shady Belle, the horses moving much quicker than the wagons. It was slightly comical to watch a large group in impressive threads leave such a ratty and worn down home. Over the past few weeks you decided firmly that sleeping with four walls around you was a comfort you preferred.
“This is it, ladies and gentlemen! The last one.”
Dutch was gearing up for a big speech as he rode behind Micah.
“Where have we heard that one before?” John asked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“What has happened to you, John? You lost all your heart.”
“I’m just trying to stay real about all of this.”
“Real!” Dutch spit. “Oh how I detest that word. So devoid of imagination.”
The group rode over the railroad tracks and your heartbeat started to pick up. This was real, you were taking part in a bank robbery. Oh if only your father could see you now. The lawman’s rebel daughter.
“How soon are we shipping out?” Micah called from somewhere ahead.
Dutch replied, “As soon as we get the passage organized. A boat down to Argentina, then another around the cape.”
“What about the money in Blackwater? We’re just gonna leave that behind?”
“Forget that, it's gone.” Dutch swiped a fly and the question away. “You all talk like it’s the only goddamned money in the world. We’re gonna take that and more, take it from the people who take it from us. This isn’t some hick town, hundred dollar operation. This is a big city bank!”
“Right,” John broke in. “With security, guards, police.”
“Hosea has done his reconnaissance, we’ve been over this.” Dutch almost sounded tired. “The plan. One last time. Hosea and Abigail will draw out the police, we go in fast and calm. John and Lenny, secure the front doors. Javier takes the side exit. Bill, Micah, YN, and Charles, control the crowd. Me and Arthur deal with the bank manager and the vault. Got it?”
Everyone agreed that they did. Most of the other women were leaving with the camp supplies and not participating, and the look Dutch gave you was not lost as he took in his crew.
Hosea reckoned they needed about fifteen minutes to set the distraction with Abigail and pull enough police and that sounded fine by Dutch. As the others rode off with the wagons, Sadie threw you a smile of encouragement and you spurred Eclipse on to keep up with the others. Nothing, not even your nerves, would hold you back from this job.
Arthur had talked about when to tell Dutch that maybe sailing to another part of the world was not in the cards for you two, but it still hadn’t come up. Before the bank job seemed a poor choice as it would only take away Dutch’s focus, so tentatively the plan was set for later. There was a lot to think about lately and that was just another worry to add to the pile.
“Everybody know the drill! We head in hard and stay calm. They won’t be expecting us. Any minor trouble, head back to camp. We’ll leave in a few days.”
Your nerves must have really been showing through as even Micah threw you a half grin. It wasn’t pleasant, but you accepted it nonetheless.
Bill and Charles rode ahead to break up the group, hoping that it wouldn't look like a giant posse riding in together. The five of you left held back a few minutes and then rode into town, through the gates of Saint Denis and into the belly of the beast. You couldn't tell if your shaking hands had more to do with being on horseback or the impending mission, but you steeled them to stay still as you moved through the streets.
Arthur pulled Zeus back and rode next to you.
“How’re you doing?”
Despite the bundle of nerves moving through your veins you had to smile. Arthur was clearly a bit worked up about the whole thing too; his words had a slight twang to them as he spoke.
“Oh, I’m fine. I remember what you taught me. Just…” you looked around and remembered the first time you marveled at Saint Denis. “What if something happens?”
“It won’t, I promise you’ll be safe. Hosea went over this so many times he knew we had to get it right.”
You nodded. You had heard him mumbling the details for days.
Before you could respond your destination came into view and your mouth went dry. Lemoyne National Bank. The imposing building stood nearly three stories high with gold and white paint covering the exterior. The sun beating down was hot and you wiped beads of sweat off your brow after hitching Eclipse up next to Arthur and Bill.
Charles made his way over. “Just wanted to say good luck. I know you’ll be fine, but...you know.”
You smiled at your friend. His words brought you comfort even though they were minimal, but knowing Charles this was the equivalent of a long speech. You patted his arm in thanks and followed the group over to Dutch.
“Foks. Robbing thieves, it ain’t no crime at all. People like this...they stole what this country could have been.” The men grunted in agreeance. “Now, act natural. Wait for Hosea to do his thing.”
As a trolley rolled slowly in front of you Arthur took your hand in his.
“Now, it ain’t too late and no one would say a thing if you decided to leave. I’ll put you on this trolley and collect you myself as soon as we’re done and we can leave; put this city behind us and head off to freedom. You just have to say the word.”
You searched Arthur’s eyes and saw nothing but love and worry. The beautiful way the blue and green and maybe in the right light grey mixed together filled you with happiness and you knew your answer before speaking. On your tiptoes, you pressed a kiss to Arthur’s cheek and beamed at him.
“You know I’m staying. I’ll be right at your side.”
Just as Arthur opened his mouth to speak the ground shook violently below you. You grabbed Arthur’s arm for support as the screams and voices rose through the city.
Dutch let out a full laugh. “I love that Hosea! He’s a true artist.”
And with that, he led the way across the road and into Lemoyne National Bank.
You pulled your mask up over your face, hands still slightly shaking. Javier whispered something before slipping around the corner to guard the side door, and on his signal Dutch burst through the bank doors, pistols drawn.
“Ladies and gentlemen! This is a hold up.”
The room was filled with screams and the bustling of shoes on the tile as you aimed your gun at the innocent folks going about their day, corralling them back into an office to be locked up and unable to disrupt the robbery in progress. Bill was stuck with a particularly loud customer, so you poked the end of your gun into his back to shut him up, shoving him into the room. You got a grunt of thanks from Bill as he locked the doors.
“Arthur! We have found the manager. Would you kindly have him open the vault?”
A man dressed in a long purple coat shook like a leaf as he twisted and turned the dial to find the correct combination. He looked around the room for any willing pair of eyes but no one was able to help, simply sneered as he pleaded silently with Arthur’s gun only inches away from his face.
The air was tense around you as John and the others patrolled the entryway. All of them were on the lookout for anything suspicious outside, any sign that this wasn’t going to work. But it had to. It simply had to; this was much too large of a show to go off with a hitch.
A loud scraping sound resonated as the vault door creaked open with the poor bank manager pulling as hard as he could. Arthur cast you a look before heading in, his brow filled with worry to get this over with as soon as possible. You sent him a small smile, hoping he could read it under your bandana, and nodded for him to go on.
Anxiety pumped through you. The bank manager stood outside and at Bill’s command called out the combination, his legs shaking from the stress. The seconds ticking away felt like hours and you wanted nothing more than to run away from all of this mess.
“We got trouble! Looks like the law.”
Your head whipped around at John’s yell. His voice was tense and Dutch ran over to get a good look at the situation with anger and fear in his eyes. The others were quickly behind him.
Everyone knew this operation had to be executed precisely. Anything short of perfection would mean failure and a real risk of death. With Hosea’s attention to detail and the way everyone knew their part Dutch had been confident this would go off without any problems. He already felt the warm, island air rustling through his hair, the grainy, hot sand beneath his feet, and the sweet, sticky mango juice bursting in his mouth. This was going to work. This had to work. Because if it didn’t, there was no way out.
Unfortunately Dutch didn’t count on your father.
“Come out! It’s over!”
No, no, no, no. Not him, not now. Your heart pounded in your chest so hard you were sure the others heard it, and at the same time your stomach dropped down to your feet. How on Earth had he found you?
John said something about Abigail but a rushing sound filled your ears and you couldn’t make it out. Everyone had pressed themselves up against the wall in cover and you did the same, hoping you would be able to act when it came down to it.
“Dutch! Get out here. Get out here now!”
A silence fell over the bank. Agent Milton walked out from behind a wagon across the street brandishing a pistol that was shoved into the back of Hosea’s head. Dutch let out a groan.
“Someone must have squealed!”
“We never should have gone after Bronte, Dutch,” John spat. His eyes were on the mother of his child just beyond his reach.
“Mr. Milton?” Dutch’s voice lost its usual silk and instead was filled with fear, cracking slightly. “Let my friend go. Or folks are gonna get shot unnecessarily.”
“Your friend? Why would I do that?” Your father’s voice was loud and full of confidence. It sent slivers of fear through your spine as your mind raced.
“C’mon, Milton!”
“It’s over! No more bargains, no more deals.”
“Mr. Milton, this is America. You can always cut a deal.”
He was reaching his finale. Your father always loved making a show of capturing ‘the bad guys’ and you knew from his stance that you were running low on time. If someone didn’t do something Hosea would be dead, the rest of you following shortly.
“Hey girly, remember way back when you and I made a deal?” Micah was standing much too close to your back for comfort and in your agitated state you tried to shake him off. This only made him mad and he grabbed your arm tightly in his grip. “You owe me, I’m cashing in. Only one way this thing and it’s with you outside of those doors while we escape.”
“What?” you asked, your mind racing and unable to comprehend his request.
“Daddy Dearest is out there about to blow us all to hell. We need a distraction and you are the golden ticket.”
You froze. Micah was asking, no, telling you to sacrifice yourself on the slim chance your father wouldn't kill you on sight. It was insanely risky, but it would give the gang and the people you had grown to love a chance, albeit slim, to get away safely. All around you were the tense faces of people who had time and time again proven they were good and loving, more than you could ever say for your own father who stood on the other side of the street with the power of the law behind him. In a way, you felt this had always been coming. Rushing towards you like a train in the night. Eventually it would have to reach its destination. Your hands shook as you realized that this might be the only plan, and you couldn’t risk the chance of your newfound family dying because you weren’t brave enough. Your father wouldn't listen to anyone else and as the seconds melted away you steeled yourself against the tide that would surely try and knock you over.
“Well?” Micah shook you impatiently.
You looked around. Dutch, Bill, Lenny, John, Javier...Arthur. These were people you would gladly sacrifice yourself for. Memories came flooding back of sitting around the campfire singing, hours spent in the fields hunting, and the times you and Abigail laughed yourselves silly. Your eyes watered at the thought of leaving, but it had to be done.
“I’ll do it,” you spoke quietly. “But I have one request.”
“And what’s that?”
Micah had started making his way to the door and Arthur, noticing you moving about, was heading towards you too. You met his eyes for a moment and you swore he knew what you were about to do. His footsteps picked up and you had to act.
Leaving him was of course the hardest. Never had you imagined a love so brilliant and bright, and knowing that you were willingly throwing it all away tore you apart. The ring on your finger felt heavy with guilt but you clutched your gun tighter until Micah tore it from your hands. Arthur opened his mouth to whisper something and you knew waiting would make it worse.
“Tell Arthur I love him.”
“I’ll be sure to do that,” Micah snorted and unceremoniously shoved you outside the giant bank doors before slamming them shut. Something on the other side slammed against them and you guessed it was Arthur, livid at the unexplained sight. A voice yelled something and then everything went quiet, and you looked up at the scene before you.
Hosea stood in the middle of the street covered in dust and watching you with worried eyes. He shook his head slightly, telling you to leave, but you cast him a watery smile of reassurance.
Behind him every gun held by the Pinkerton Detective agents was trained on you and ready to fire. You looked up and down the line realizing just how many there were. This had to be a set up, no one was ready that fast.
A strangled cry that turned into a laugh came from the head Detective. He took a faltering step forward, then looked at you with utter bewilderment.
“Put your guns down,” he said. The detectives looked over at him confused. “I said put them down!”
“Sir?” questioned one of the men to his side.
“Because…” Agent Milton spoke slowly, still trying to process the change in events unfolding before him.
You placed both hands up in the air and spoke with much more confidence than you felt.
“Because I’m his daughter.” You looked directly at him, taking a deep breath before saying, “Hello, Father. Good to see you.”

The Best Albums of 2020 (and from the Before Times)
I read a lot of year-end music roundups, and several this year have come with a resonant caveat: It’s been harder to discover new music this year, both because of physical limitations (no shows, no record-store browsing, no chats with friends about your latest finds), and because the way we used music fundamentally changed. It certainly did for me. Rather than serving as the backdrop for a commute or a night out, it created moments of solace from cabin fever while doing dishes, or showering, or running semi-weekly errands. So I often turned to what was comfortable and familiar, songs that conjured memories and feelings to get me through the day. Even on the rare occasions of social listening, the groups I was with drifted into nostalgia — middle school dance tracks, mid-2000s emo, inherited dad rock, even songs from just a year or two ago, when everything was simpler, relatively speaking.
That’s not to say nothing new moved me. There was a handful of albums and songs that were crucial to getting through the doldrums. They soundtracked bike rides, long walks, longer drives and lots of small moments mentioned above. But I don’t think I can think about my favorite music of this year without thinking about the albums of the past that got me through it. Besides, one of the many lessons 2020 taught is that time is a bizarre illusion anyway. (This exercise also lets me write about some recent albums that I didn’t get to write about when they were actually released.
So here are the albums, past and present, that made 2020 bearable. I hope you found yours, too.
Tame Impala, “The Slow Rush”

Tame Impala’s fourth LP came out on Valentine’s Day. That afternoon, Claire and I had a lunch date to mark the occasion before we got on a plane to visit my parents. The night before, we had gone out to dinner with friends visiting from San Francisco and then to a bar, where we huddled next to strangers on a water bed. Roughly a month later, all of this would be unimaginable, and Kevin Parker’s lyrics to “One More Year” would be eerily prescient as we settled into this new normal:
But now I worry our horizon's been nothing new 'Cause I get this feeling and maybe you get it too We're on a rollercoaster stuck on its loop-de-loop 'Cause what we did one day on a whim Has slowly become all we do
The song is really about surrendering to time, and not worrying about it passing in spite of your ambivalence. The opening chants of Parker’s “Gregorian Robot Choir” make it easy to surrender. They carry you into a world where, as the cover art suggests, all that time you were worrying about has already passed, so you might as well dance. At the same time, the songs that follow, like “Borderline,” “Breathe Deeper” and “Lost In Yesterday” make it easy to remember what it was like to dance in a sweaty room with people you love, and to look forward to doing it again, after a little more time passes.
Fleet Foxes, “Shore”

There’s something comforting about the fact that Fleet Foxes released this record on the exact moment of the autumnal equinox. It’s a reminder that nature has its own rhythms that carry on regardless of what occurs in our human lives. They give us a measure of certainty in uncertain times. One of these rhythms — death — looms large in “Sunblind,” an ode to Robin Pecknold’s departed musical forebears: David Berman, Bill Withers, John Prine and others. This song exuding calm acceptance shifts into “Can I Believe You,” which wrestles frankly with doubt and fear.
These tracks contain profound contradictions, but sonically, they're both bright, hopeful and sure. That’s what made this album such a balm in the sixth month of this pandemic, a time of both growing darkness and hope for what might be on the other side. It reminds us that there’s power and beauty in feeling all these things at once.
Lil Uzi Vert, “Eternal Atake”

This one spent two years in label purgatory, but it finally arrived in March to prove Lil Uzi Vert can do it all. He’s at his most versatile here, spitting and crooning, boasting and balladeering. “You Better Move” is an early standout packed with playful nostalgia, including a beat that samples that classic PC pinball game and delightful jabs like these:
Yeah, step on competition, changin' my shoes Green shirt, bitch, I'm Steve, where is Blue? Every chain on, I pity a fool I'm an iPod, man, you more like a Zune Made her eat on my dick with a spoon, ew Versace drawers, bitch, you Fruit of the Loom
Then there are the melodic tracks like “Urgency,” which compel you to hum along even on the first listen. The excellent diversity made it worth the wait for this hourlong journey to another planet.
Sturgill Simpson, “Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions”

I haven’t spent much time with Sturgill Simpson outside of 2014′s “Metamodern Sounds in Country Music,” and I can’t say I’ve ever listened to another bluegrass album all the way through. But these new cuts of songs picked from Simpson’s catalog are wonderfully enticing. Simpson puts the talents of his backing band front and center, and their harmonies and rhythms illuminate his vivd songwriting in new ways. It was a great introduction to the genre for me.
Fiona Apple, “Fetch The Bolt Cutters”

I got here after the hype, after the perfect 10, after all the year-end number-ones. Fiona Apple lives up to all of it. Her compositions are complex and evocative, the lyrics tender and biting at once. Her artistry is unsparing. The chorus to the title track is already getting stuck in my head, and I can’t wait to spend more time with this one.
Bea Troxel, “The Way That It Feels” (2017)

Almost a decade has passed since I first saw Bea Troxel play. She was in an incredibly talented trio with two of my high school classmates: Maeve Thorne (who has an entrancing solo EP of her own), and Rita Pfeiffer (the violinist on this record). They ended up winning my school’s battle of the bands, and I got to interview them for the student newspaper. Shortly after our senior year, they recorded an album that still outshines most of today’s indie folk. So I jumped at the chance to all three of them again in Brooklyn.
Troxel’s performance in particular was a revelation. I won’t ever forget how I fell into a trance as she picked away at “Talc,” which exemplifies her gift for natural metaphor. I haven’t stopped playing her record since, and it’s been a constant comfort throughout this year. Her voice is one of a kind, her songwriting is rich, and the compositions flow together beautifully. I can’t wait for more; in the meantime, “The Way That It Feels” will be on repeat.
Travis Scott, “Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight” (2016)

There’s been much ado about the brilliance of “Astroworld,” Travis Scott’s magnum opus, but I have a soft spot for his sophomore LP, where he reached the peak of the spare and heavy sound that started to take shape on “Owl Pharaoh.” There are plenty of sonic layers here, and the ordering of the tracks is a craft in itself — a series of peaks and valleys that glides from the haze of “beibs in the trap” to the climax of “goosebumps” and then into the cool waters of “pick up the phone.” It feels like Scott is guiding you to and from these destinations. The journey is, as The Weeknd might put it, “wonderful.”
Harmonium, “Harmonium” (1974)

One of my pandemic binges was “Letterkenny,” the sharp Ontario-set sitcom with top-notch banter and a great soundtrack full of indie hits and Canadian deep cuts. The fight scenes are elegantly choreographed, but so are the handful of sequences at the end of key episodes that reveal the show’s emotional bedrock. One such scene is set to Harmonium’s “Un musicien parmi tant d'autres” — the main characters are reveling in a bar with their Québécois pals, whom they’ve just helped beat up a rival group. As the song builds to its climactic chorus, leading man Wayne, surrounded by couples, realizes his longing for companionship. Another fight breaks out, but instead of joining in, Wayne makes his way through the slow-motion fray toward the woman he’ll propose to in the next season. (Their relationship later falls apart, but that doesn’t undercut this scene’s beauty.)
This is probably the first foreign-language album I’ve listened to in full, but all of it evokes that feeling for me — the joy of walking through the chaos to reach what’s really important. Not a bad sentiment for these times.
Bon Iver, “22, A Million”

To talk about this weird, dark and brilliant album, I need to talk about “715 - CR∑∑KS.” Everyone I’ve talked to about the third track on “22, A Million” either loves it or can’t stand it. I’m devoted to it to the extent that it was my most-played song on Spotify this year. It oscillates between tenderness and fear, between silence and explosions of sound. The lyrics are an epitome of Justin Vernon’s cryptic poetry. It’s isolated and spare and enthralling and beautiful in its own bizarre way — just like the rest of the album, which is rich with themes of persevering through the darkness in spite of the uncertainty about when the light will appear. Vernon is alone on “CR∑∑KS,” but he’s accompanied by a cacophony of his own voice. As alone as we might feel right now, there’s always someone else shouting through the darkness with us, even if we can’t see them.

The heartland
Hello again!
Chris and I have had yet another marvelous week-and-a-half in New Zealand filled with lots of excitement and adventure. The last time we posted we were resting up by the beach on the east coast of the North Island after completing our first Great Walk. Ten days later, we have completed our second Great Walk and are resting up by the beach on the west coast of the North Island in a city called Whanganui. It’s dreary and rainy here today, and Chris has an important football game to watch, so we decided it would be a good day to post up in a cafe for a few hours and check in with you all.
Before we left the Hawkes Bay area last week, we stopped in at the famous Hawkes Bay Farmers Market, one of the oldest and largest farmers markets in all of New Zealand. It’s summer here and there are heaps of fresh, organic produce abound, so we wanted to get some fruit and veggies from the source before leaving the area. The market was massive, lined with a large variety of different vendors offering lots of delicious treats for us to sample. We took our time wandering through the different stalls and absorbed the lovely community atmosphere that farmers markets inherently emit. After filling our bag with fresh eggs, vegetables, and a jar of honey, we bought a pastry to share for breakfast and were on our way. Our next destination was Taupo, a lakeside touristy town in the heart of the North Island, where we stayed for a night before heading north to meet up with our friend Arnaud and his partner Markus the following day. The center of the North Island is notorious for its geothermal activity, and thus a multitude of hot springs are scattered throughout the area. Over time, many of the springs were developed around and turned into luxurious day spas that cost an arm and a leg to visit, however a few free spots remain. After arriving in Taupo we decided to check out the free Otumuheke Springs, but when we got there the parking lot was overflowing with cars and people- the thought of sharing the hot spring with a giant crowd suddenly became less appealing. We turned around and decided we’d try our luck another day.
The next morning, we drove an hour north to Rotorua, another cute lakeside town, where we met Arnaud and Markus for a picnic and a quick swim. Arnaud volunteered with us when we lived in Bali, and we hadn’t seen him in years, so it was great to catch up with him and spend a few hours together. Markus has lived in New Zealand for most of his life, and he gave us some tips for a few less-traveled hot springs in Rotorua to check out before we left the area. We stayed overnight in a parking lot in downtown Rotorua, and woke up bright and early the next morning to go whitewater rafting on the Kaituna River! If I’m being honest, I was pretty terrified-I had never been whitewater rafting, and the Kaituna River is known for its level 5 rapids and largest commercially rafted waterfall in the world, a whopping 23 foot drop! We were both really excited for a new adventure though, and it turned out to be one of the most fun excursions we’ve been on in our travels so far. We had a really funny and knowledgeable raft guide, and we shared the raft with two other couples for the hour long ride down the river. The waterfall was definitely scary- the raft became fully vertical and was completely submerged under the water before resurfacing. We didn’t flip over and no one fell out and even though I inhaled a giant mouthful of water, it was fun and thrilling nonetheless.
Our next Great Walk, the Tongariro Northern Circuit, was only a few days away, so we began our journey south back down to Taupo for a couple of nights to restock our supplies of trail mix and granola bars before setting out on the trail. On our way down, we stopped in at Kerosene Creek (one of the hot springs recommended to us by Markus), and were shocked to find that the entirety of the creek was around 100° F. There were other people there, but nothing compared to our first hot spring stop, and having the whole river to swim around in gave us plenty of our own space to enjoy the steaming spring. That night we posted up on a beautiful reserve next to Lake Taupo and watched the sunset over the lake. After having such a wonderful hot spring experience, we decided to wake up early to beat the crowds and give Otumuheke Spring a second shot. The spring was situated alongside a beautiful river, and we were lucky enough to have the first 15 minutes of our time there to soak in the pools completely alone. It was a great way to start our day before prepping for our upcoming trek.
The next morning, we drove an hour and a half to the Whakapapa Visitors Center in Tongariro National Park to begin the 4-day Tongariro Northern Circuit. When we went to the visitors center to check in with the staff and give them our booking information, we had a brief moment of panic when we realized that we were a day late in starting the trek. The campsites and huts on the Great Walks are in very high demand and are usually booked for the whole summer, so we were stressed that we wouldn’t be able to embark on the trek after missing our reservation. Fortunately the Department of Conservation staff at the visitor’s center called ahead to the rangers at the campsites and they were able to make room for us. Relieved and excited to begin, we strapped on our packs and set out on the trail.
Our first day was an easy 6 miles to the Mangatepopo Hut and Campsite. The terrain had a few ups and downs but was relatively flat, and took us through stunning alpine plains shaped by volcanic explosions with volcanos towering over us on either side. We made it to Mangatepopo in a few hours, where we set up camp and had a hearty dinner of couscous, rice, and lentils. After reading our books and playing cards for a bit, we tucked into bed early knowing that the hardest section of the trek was coming the next day. The circuit trail intersects with the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, a very popular day hike and the main attraction of the revered Great Walk. The trail climbs 2500 feet in 3.6 miles through remnants of lava flow, and winds up a series of steep trail sections aptly named 'Devil’s Staircase’. The peak offers spectacular views of Red Crater and the beautiful Emerald Lakes, drawing hundreds of hikers every day. We began the hike early the next morning, joining the crowds coming in for the day hike, and started the arduous climb to the top. After a couple of hours, we made it up unscathed and stopped for a lunch of trail mix and dried fruit to take it all in. It quickly became clear why so many people embarked on this trek - the landscape was truly magnificent. With panoramic views of the dark red and black Red Crater on one side, and the stark turquoise and blue hues of the Emerald Lakes to the other, we were awed and humbled to be in such a beautiful place. The descent down the other side of the volcano proved to be a bit difficult, as the tread was entirely ash and sand, but we made our way down with only a few stumbles and continued on the circuit trail. Happy to be away from the big crowds, we powered on towards our next campsite, the Oturere Hut.
We made it to the Oturere Hut by 2 pm with 9 miles of hiking under our belts. We still felt pretty energized, and the next hut was only 5 miles away, so we made the decision to stop for a snack and then carry on to catch up with our original campsite reservations. While we were taking a break at the Oturere Hut, the hut ranger informed us with the sad news that just an hour after we had descended from Red Crater, a 75-year-old German man hiking with his son had died at the top due to a heart attack. The Maori tribe that presides over the Tongariro Crossing placed what they call a Rahui over the area, which restricts access to the crossing for 3 days. The Rahui is put in place to acknowledge the person who died and the mourning of their loved ones, and also to allow the spirit of land to recover from the fatality. With a heavy heart, we continued our way on the trail towards our next destination, the Waihohonu Hut and Campsite.
We arrived at Waihohonu after a couple of hours with sore feet and aching backs, feeling exhausted but accomplished after a long 14 mile day. Our campsite bordered a creek, and after setting up our tent we took a refreshing and freezing dip before making dinner. We spent the evening relaxing in the hut, chatting with fellow hikers, and reading our books. In the morning, we were back on the trail by 9:15 am to complete a final 10 mile day back to Whakapapa. I was a little bit grumpy that morning- Chris’ normal hiking pace is more of a light jog for me, and for the first two or so miles Chris was speeding ahead, intent on passing the multiple groups of hikers in front of us. After the first hour and a half I was drained, hungry, and irritable, so we stopped for a snack and some water before carrying on down the path. I was in much better spirits as we hiked through the hummocks and hollows of the final stretch of the circuit, with the striking Mount Ngauruhoe (better known for it’s appearance as Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings) in view the whole way. With only a few miles to go, we stopped at the top of Taranaki Falls for a break, and then completed the final stretch. The Tongariro Circuit was a difficult, rewarding trek and we felt very satisfied, albeit fatigued, to finish it in 3 days. Our first stop post-hike was a hot shower followed by a large pizza - a sequence of events that’s becoming a tradition for us after finishing a Great Walk.
In the days since we finished the crossing, we have been in the coastal city of Whanganui on the central western coast of the North Island. We got lucky with a sunny 75°F day and spent a few hours relaxing in the sun at Kai Iwi Beach. After staying one night in the city, we wanted to get a little more off the beaten path and ventured to a free campsite that was right on the beach about 30 minutes north of the city. We had no expectation of what it would be like, all we knew was that it was right on the coast, but we ended up at one of the most spectacular locations we’ve encountered in New Zealand thus far. Aside from 2 other vans parked down the road, we had a cliffside campsite overlooking the ocean all to ourselves. We ventured down onto the beach, only to be surprised yet again by a completely empty black sand beach lined with incredible cliffs and caves the whole way down. Many of the campsites and beautiful vistas we’ve visited so far have been busy and often crowded by other tourists, so we were excited to find a hidden gem of New Zealand without even trying. Long Beach and Cave Beach were definitely a highlight of our trip so far.
Today we are heading south towards Wellington, and in a few days we will take a ferry from the North Island to begin our adventure in the South Island. Everyone we’ve talked to tells us that the South Island will blow us away, so we are very excited to make our way down there. In 10 days we’ll start our next Great Walk, the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, a gorgeous trek along the northern beaches of the south island!
Lots of love from us both,
Bryn and Christopher

The moment I realize I can move on

As someone who is not naturally articulate and thus take the comfort (sometimes misery) of holding back thoughts and emotions, I’ve forced myself to record this time, no matter how broken it may end up sounding. What a transitive moment I’m in now, a mental milestone. A deep, great sadness of realization as it may be, I know it’ll help me reach the next level of freedom and self-acceptance. After a chain of exhausting days, I’ve allowed myself to be “officially sick” today. I’m gonna slow down. Thinking about what I’m thinking. Before throwing myself back into the madness of life.
I’m a wallflower to the core. The one that always watch, but never get involved, they say. Or am I? There are many moments where I was absolutely expressive and cheerful, like I’m living the time of my life. And I share that positive vibe to everyone I interact with. But there is no expected pattern of how and when that more attractive version of me show up. Recent recall was a couple weeks ago when “she” came to the rescue at an interview and secured me a job offer, I walked out of the building with an impression of “what the heck just happened? Was that me?!”. The thrilled joy, though, is short-lived. As I quickly realize that the worse-in-nearly-all-aspects version now will have to figure out how to meet high expectations from both myself and other people, built by “her”. It’s like “BOOM!!! Surprise biatch~ just saved you clumsy nerd from an awkward situation, congratulations we made it and now YOU take care of the rest! buh byeee~” every time.
Among expectations built, many I’m still fighting for, and for some I realized it’s time to give up for good. And you guess right, the tone is set up for the latter. The record of yesterday events in sequence, though not and end-to-end story, is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Here it goes...
I woke up with an annoying headache from a shortage of sleep as usual, rushed to the Turtle lake and took the school bus to Binh Duong, the place I would only travel to when I have to. It was kinda my favorite moment of a day though. I would always end up at the most front seat on the the right. Settled down. Eyes half-closed. The squeezing feeling all over my head and in the back of my eyes starts to soften thanks to the blend of gentle air-con wind and early morning sunlight, a cleanliness of smell, and my chill love song playlist aka the sleeping therapy. It is opposed to travelling by bike or taxi, now I actually hope the distance was longer! Normally that could be enough extra energy charged for me to survive a normal day at school. But yesterday was no ordinary day. I had no lectures but instead a group project in which we were struggling with an unfamiliar software. I was in charge of running the software while the other two did the writings. Just the night before I felt like a loser and almost gave up, but as the next morning, sitting down with the team, we gradually figured out everything. I felt so relieved. Perhaps it was not difficult after all. Maybe I was just freaked out with something I’m not used to and assume it's unsolvable.
Midday time, accompanied by the brutal sun, is when my tension headache gets at its worse. I skipped lunch and walked some heavy steps to the first-aid office, only to find it was being locked. Right, the lady must've been having lunch. Lying down at the feather chair in front, I pretended to get absorbed into my Iphone like a normal youngster nowadays instead of staring into nowhere and letting out my fatigue like a depressed person. Crazy how I still cared about what other people think even when it felt like my body was about to give out! And there she came from afar, the first aid staff lady; I turned my head and gave her the “I was waiting for you” smile (most honest smile ever), and she returned the “You’ll be okay now kiddo” smile. The first aid office is where I often come to take a nap after a test, or anytime I’m about the “shut down”. I call it VGU 5 star hotel.
The nap didn’t go well as I hoped, still I had to get up for the mini concert rehearsal, and apparently there are other people like me who are waiting to get their battery charged too (there are only 2 beds). The rehearsal was smooth, was no stress, and eventually better than the actual performance (what a shock). But then came the freaking rain. I blamed it for my bad mood, for my guitarist’s bike’s breakdown. And as we was just starting to come back to Saigon, his bike even had a flat tire. This is it, I thought, can’t get any worse!
I appreciate that my friend was very patient handling the situation, he was searching for mobile repairers and called each one of them. So I was resolved not to show any impatience although I was burning inside, the unfinished project still awaits me at home and seriously I was so desperate for some real sleep so I could make it to class for the presentation. I told him that I’d wait on the pavement to relieve the weight so he could go fixe his bike then come back afterwards. 30 minutes passed by... It was dark and remote as hell, and the last open restaurant which I sat nearby may close very soon. I made up my mind that I couldn't take a taxi or grab bike alone with such a far distance at this time of the day, so my only hope was that the guitarist friend woud have no further trouble and come back pick me up soon. My bestie even asked for the location details, in case I get kidnapped she could know how to report to the police lmao. And my professor was very worrying; she asked why I didn’t just simply stay in the dorm overnight...
Then it strike me how much I wanted to go back to Saigon, nearly at all costs. Even just for another 4-hour sleep then going to Binh Duong again, even when it’s super late and rainy. Am I crazy? I didn't care about rationality. I just wanted to go back.
But the actual turning point goes back to the concert, held at BD Conference & Exhibition center. It was prepared with dedication, passion, hard work, and joy, by tons of members from 2 biggest clubs in VGU. I’m thankful to be a small link in the whole chain.
The vocal quality as well as songs selection this year was really amazing. I sang “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran with anh Nguyen, the guitarist mentioned above. And although the performance was far from being perfect, I heard from several friends that they enjoyed it “beautiful singing”, “u still lit”, “it made me happy”, they even recorded and sent me... And trust me, I’m only glad because I could make some of the audiences happy, it was the only consolation at the end of the day. I personally and honestly didn’t understand those compliments, nor did I feel anything about the song, about the fact that I was a part of this concert. I came onto the stage, the extreme light beamed at us and all I could see are black-colored audiences. I didn’t see their faces, I didn’t have a clue how they were feeling. Were they bored or satisfied? It’s not about what the answer is, it’s about me having absolutely no belief in my performance. It was all acting, no emotions. Why can I say so, because I know what is like to “have belief” while singing. it’s when you just sing your hearts out and don’t give a damn on how the audience look like because you know they’re feeling with you, you don’t need to make sure by checking their facial expression and guessing if they’re satisfied or not.
I always talk to myself, no matter what bad things happen during the day, if at the end of the day when I lie down and about to sleep, I feel good, then it means I’ve had a good day. It was the same expectation towards the concert. I was hoping it could be a happy, memorable ending to my 4 boring years at VGU.
I know for sure there are many students like me at VGU who don’t feel any connection to the school nor other people at the campus. I’m not alone. But instead of being cool about it like many could do (you just simple seek another environment where you fit in), I was freak out. I was longing for the sense of belonging to this university, after I made a tough choice to leave home, leaving a mess behind me and move forward, I was an excited fresh who wanted VGU to be a happy, inspiring part of my youth. At the same time, I was all by myself. My brother was at the time struggling with his own marriage. Vi Anh is in Hanoi and we only chatted once in a while. My is in Japan, for years we nearly had no contact and I thought at some point I must let her go... Doug and Nhi went to BYU and I thought I might lose them as well... Other close friends were also away. I was lonely, i was desperate, i was ashamed.
For the record, there was an only truly happy and long lasting moment relating to VGU. It was the trip to Binh Lap with anh Quan, anh Huy, and Thien Tam. If you guys ever come across this note, I wanna thank you. It was the best thing happened to me during my VGU years.
This fourth year has been mind-blowing to me. I skipped the first semester to stay in Saigon for a part time job. And in the second semester I travel between 2 places. And suddenly I’m not a wallflower here in Saigon. For the first time in so many years, I don’t just watch, I am actively involved. For the first time in many years, the better version I talked about in the beginning and I, become one. I plan out my life, learn new things by my choice, meet new people and, many of them I make great friends, we exchange information and experiences, we help each other growth professionally and as a person. And above all things, My has decided to come back to Vietnam, and I realized after all the lost years, we still get each other's back. We reunited the gang along with Vi Anh and it was full of laughter. Many other friends have also recontacted and so it happened that we still exist in each other's life.
I love Saigon, for that it has been sweet and healing to me. I feel a sense of belonging, of living not just surviving. I guess the only reason for me to insist not staying overnight in Binh Duong was that after so many troubles, the fact that I could be back to the city for just a few hours sleeping, makes me feel safe, like “I’m at home at last”.
Of course, I didn’t get over VGU or Binh Duong easily. I wept out like a little girl but knew it was a “letting go” kind of crying. You know when you wish so much that things would work out between you and that person, it takes a while for you to accept that you’re not meant to be and you can move on and still live happily. Last night was the end to all my unrealistic hope. I felt absolutely nothing. No fun, no connection with the people, the atmosphere there. As soon as I finished the performance, I sneaked out into a dark conference room, playing with my phone while waiting for my friend to drive me back to Saigon.
I’m happy for those young and fun people I saw yesterday who has found themselves there, congrats to you, you will be like a close friend of mine who left VGU and his friends with tears of farewell. It’s also nice for me to be assured that people like me could still build beautiful memories elsewhere and be happy. In the end, we’re the only negative force of ourselves, no one can force us to do things we don’t want to.

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!
Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Lodestar by SasstastiKim~! (http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/)
Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!
QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?
Darkhalo4321
My favorite scene has to be... the coffee shop book place thingy. With taylor! Sarcasm max.
Letter Bee
Elliot being told to trust his new friends by his mother.
SpazztastiKim
Author note: chapter one is getting "remodeled" so any suggestions are welcome
Kabocha
My favorite scene? Probably be this one: http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2597078/ch2-pg-17/ ...It's so atmospheric, and that is a very good and creepy looking heart. I'm into the atmosphere. Under @SpazztastiKim's cute artwork lies something deceptively dark...
Darkhalo4321
I looooooovethe backgrounds in that sequence
L O V E
Yes, very dark. >:3c
RebelVampire
yeah i got second that as my favorite scene. cause the atmosphere is to die for. and i love how contrasted it is from the previous scenes cause you go into it and immediately go "oh no a spooky dream"
Kabocha
Also, Kim -- if you are interested in critique, etc, I can throw you thoughts in private, but I didnt' like, make any notes or anything. It's your comic and I figured that you were doin' errything to have fun! (And get some good creepiness in there too)
SpazztastiKim
You are welcome to!
Kabocha
Okay. I'll do that offline and another day, then. But I do think you've got a good story here, so please don't feel obliged to open yourself up to such feedback!
SpazztastiKim
Thank you
Darkhalo4321
Let us gush over how superb becky's optimism is
SpazztastiKim
Lol
RebelVampire
im busy gushing over the dialogue on this page http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2749604/ch3-pg10/
Kabocha
Honestly I just really like the magic effects, not gonna lie
RebelVampire
like its so silly and yet reminds me of youth
Kabocha
I'm looking forward to more magic and ghost stuff
RebelVampire
cause these are random convos i would have as a youth with ppl
Kabocha
YEAH
Darkhalo4321
Same here!
Kabocha
It's so dramatic, and... man,... I remember being like that when I was younger
I don't recall if it's stated in-comic, but how old is everyone?
SpazztastiKim
Not stated yet. You can guess tho XD
RebelVampire
elliot was a 30 year old man this entire time
SpazztastiKim
Oof XDD
Kabocha
Ahahaha. I was guessing 14~15
Darkhalo4321
Im not allowed to guess because i kinda know XD
SpazztastiKim
Lol
Kabocha
Either way, I'm guessing high school for all of them, but nobody's a senior XD
Darkhalo4321
Except for ally
Shes like younger, like idk maybe hr high ish?
I actually dont know for sure her age
RebelVampire
i wouldve guessed middle school personally. but its hard to tell cause i need to see more adults
Kabocha
Maybe? She throws me a little bit? XD She's probably 13ish?
Darkhalo4321
Shes a precious cinnamonroll and needs protected at all costs
RebelVampire
yeah id peg 13ish for ally personally too.
idk if she need the protecting. she is not the one who got tackled to the ground
Kabocha
I would not fight her
Darkhalo4321
No
She will tackle you to the ground in l o v e
Kabocha
I do also really like how everyone's designs are unique
So it's really easy to distinguish who's who (and I'm pretty sure if it was a greyscale comic, it'd still be very easy... Which is really good)
....ALSO WHAT WAS WITH THE POINTY EARS
Darkhalo4321
Yeah kim
S'plain
X'D
Kabocha
I'm getting the feeling that there are spoilers in that answer
SpazztastiKim
OP... someone noticed
Kabocha
but
I can't help but feel like there are some alternate world or reincarnation shenanigans afoot
RebelVampire
elliot was an elf in a past life and the birth he witnessed was from back then
ya know what scratch that
he was the elf prince
Kabocha
Okay so I'm not the only one that thought that though
RebelVampire
just make everyone a prince
SpazztastiKim
Pfft yes
Kabocha
What's with the lanterns though... hahaha
But I really do have to wonder what all is going on there. The wolf skeleton was warning him about a thing he... sealed away.
SpazztastiKim
Was it sealed tho?
Kabocha
.... Maybe not
Darkhalo4321
:0
Kabocha
but, I mean, it's hella vague I feel like the wolf is protecting Elliot tho
Darkhalo4321
I get that vibe too, wasnt nice atthe end tho >:T
Kabocha
No, but this probably has happened before
Darkhalo4321
Ya think?
RebelVampire
when you say this are you talking about the dream itself or like the sealed away creature thing?
Kabocha
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2612346/ch2-pg18/ Well, the wolf says that Elliot's been dragged away before
so the thing that's hunting Elliot in his dream proooooooooooooooooooooooooobably has gone after him before
unless the "Birth" in question means it manifested in physical form
Darkhalo4321
D:
OH
Kabocha
KIM IS THIS NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, AND ALL THESE KIDS ARE GONNA GET KILLED BY FREDDY
Darkhalo4321
Maybe
XD
MAYBE
SpazztastiKim
Pffft
RebelVampire
that theory did occur to me
cause of the dream themes
that this is basically monster in the dreams
rip everyone
Darkhalo4321
I mean, I know kim loves horror movies SO
Kabocha
Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Warriors II
RebelVampire
so the thing about the pointy ears that actually interests me the most is that elliot didnt seem to notice all that much or care. and like i know there was a bloody skeleton wolf scaring the crap outta him, but i feel like hed have at least been a little like "hey i am an elf boy now"
also the fact that the dream did not start off with pointy ears
they only showed up with wolf dude
Kabocha
It might be a sign of magic or something. Or maybe he and his ghost are just used to the pointed ears showing up
Darkhalo4321
Ooohh
I didn't notice tyhat!
Kabocha
I did have to re-read that part when I looked at this earlier this week -- it was like "waaaaaaaaaaait a minute"
SpazztastiKim
Hmm WHEN did the change happen again?
Darkhalo4321
Hm indeed
Kabocha
It seems to be a slow transition to be honest
Darkhalo4321
you know who we haven't mentioned yet- TOM my favorite character.
Kabocha
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2456424/ch2-pg11/ On this page, they start to look slightly pointed http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2505393/ch2-pg12/ AND THEN He starts to hear things and cough... And magic shows up in the next page
mathtans
Here for the moment, the little one is being very fussy this evening. I think my favourite scene was in the night terror in chapter 2, where we just had the glowing eyes - and then Mandy's glowing hand. Creepy and atmospheric.
Scrolling back to read, I liked how Elliot was thankful not to be a hobbit when he woke.
Darkhalo4321
Right?
Imagine if he woke up and HAD POINTY EARS
the rest of the cast would have been howling
Kabocha
Also, he's focusing on the important things: Not being a dream zombie
RebelVampire
i will be surprised if that doesnt happen one day. that he wakes up with elf ears and has to explain to everyone that surprise, hes an elf now
QUESTION 2. Dreams seem to be central to the story at hand. How do you interpret Elliot’s latest dream? Was it a dream, or was it something more? Whose birth did Elliot supposedly witness, and what exactly is it hungering for? Who is the black wolf that delivers the warnings to Elliot, and why is Elliot the one tasked with helping to defeat whatever the wolf is warning him about? Additionally, if this is no simple dream, why doesn’t Elliot remember this supposed event? Last but not least, what do you make of Elliot’s appearance change within the dream, and what do you think the meaning of the lantern is?
mathtans
I don't think it's a nightmare on elm street kind of thing, because Crystal Lake was dropped as a reference, so these sorts of things already exist in the characters' universe.
Chapter 4, Elliot joins an elf help group.
RebelVampire
but see thats the genius of it. drop the refs, nobody thinks anything of it and is like "ah just a red herring"
and then boom
dream murderer
Kabocha
THE DREAM WAS A WARNING I don't know if the "Starve it" Though... well. Maybe it wants to eat his dreams. Dream eater. OH MY GOD ELLIOT'S BEING HUNTED BY A DROWZEE
Darkhalo4321
THAT PUN WAS GOLD
That would be sneaky!
mathtans
It can't be a simple dream either way. Mandy joined him. That can't be a normal thing for ghosts. Can it?
RebelVampire
yeah starve it really interesting. cause what do you have to deprive the creature or whatever it is of to starve it? is elliot just not supposed to get eaten? is it dreams? is it ghosts?
although maybe its the lantern
nah
no way that was just a dream
Kabocha
Maybe. The lantern did come out as danger started to come near
RebelVampire
that was a vision
Kabocha
what is Mandy anyway
didn't he say that she was never alive to begin with? Or was he speaking generally
....What if Mandy was a victim of the thing?
RebelVampire
or even worse
mandy is the thing
SpazztastiKim
Scary
Darkhalo4321
Mandi is an imaginary friend taken form because of El? Maybe? Like, Can El manifest things?
Without knowing it-
RebelVampire
that could also be true
but im now sticking to the she is the thing one
cause it would explain why the wolf kicked her out
and said "no dream warnings for you"
Darkhalo4321
Aw
I know she's not like... real but she HAS FEELINGS DREAM WOLF
OH, but aside from just El having that one nightmare, apparently it's a prevalent problem going on- so it's not just isolated.
RebelVampire
ya know, i just want to point out if the dream wolf is going around warning ppl, the strategy is not very effective. fear is not the answer wolf.
Kabocha
Based on the comic description... We'll have to see more about that though
I dunno, if you scare someone enough, they'll stay away
Darkhalo4321
maybe el gets royal treatment of being warned
Kabocha
maybe the wolf is protecting the place where "it" is
Darkhalo4321
while everyone else just gets stalked with EYES
Kabocha
it's because he's acutally Frodo Baggins
Darkhalo4321
YES
HE IS SHORT
Kabocha
and the thing after them is Melkor. Or Sauron.
SpazztastiKim
obviously its voldemort
Darkhalo4321
!!!
you mean, he who should not be named!
Kabocha
GASP!
What about the Babadook
SpazztastiKim
my bad
OOF
RebelVampire
where elliot lives the dream wolf is just how the letters are delivered
Darkhalo4321
Baba Yaga
RebelVampire
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2597078/ch2-pg-17/ so i wonder who all the creepy ppl are in the bg
mathtans
Maybe it's like regular dreams, you don't really remember them unless you're woken up in the middle. So the wolf is waking everyone up with love bites.
RebelVampire
like was the creature born cause ppl were like "yaay sacrifice"
Kabocha
Oh, great, the wolf is my cat
SpazztastiKim
pfft
Darkhalo4321
if that's what you call a LOVE bite...>>
RebelVampire
the wolf is reading the wrong book of how to talk to humans
SpazztastiKim
lol
mathtans
There were five witnesses to the birth maybe, Rebel. They were summoned to the place in dreams.
Superjustinbros
HELLO
Kabocha
I'mma go out on a limb and say the people in the BG were part of the creation. THE COUNCIL OF CREATION A bunch of high elves that decided one day, "hey, let's just do this whole thing and nothing can go wrong" And Elliot was like, "NOPE" And died and went into another world where it was nearly unleashed upon them.
Justin, what are your thoughts on the Wolf and the Five people on Chapter 2, Page 17?
mathtans
They're looking at a heart.
Superjustinbros
Can I bring it home and call it Maniac?
SpazztastiKim
good name for it
Superjustinbros
Anyways hey there, sorry I'm a bit late
Room's getting redesigned but to stray from going offtopic I wanted to drop in and hand out and see what we're all talknig about tonight
RebelVampire
they are looking at a heart. Elliot was the mage who betrayed the council and realized his magic was for healing not the dark arts
Kabocha
Yep. We're talking about this week's comic -- Lodestar. As is the usual thing on the Thursday Bookclub~
Superjustinbros
Oh yea
Kabocha
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2597078/ch2-pg-17/ But really, I wonder what "it" is. .... Maybe there was a ritual.
Superjustinbros
Is that white line it's eye
Kabocha
Also -- did Eliot's magical scratch appear when the lantern showed up I'm just noticing this Does magic have a price?
RebelVampire
i assum eyes, the white line is its eye
that page did have the atmosphere of ritual
mostly cause of the heart
you dont hold beating hearts unless youre doing a ritual
idk i couldnt figure out when the scratch showed up. id have to look again super close
Darkhalo4321
It's def. Skooky
Kabocha
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2547332/ch2-pg14/ It's this page, Rebel
Superjustinbros
I ruined the feel of this image
SpazztastiKim
pfft(edited)
meme material
Darkhalo4321
I mean- MAYBE the wolf thing, wants to be empathetci?
Kabocha
"The woods cried out: FEED ME pls can i haz yer dinner hoomin"
Darkhalo4321
also likes hoomin heartz
SpazztastiKim
GOOD LORD XDD
mathtans
The whole glowing eyes thing is pretty cool. Not sure how the effect is done, but nice.
Darkhalo4321
It's not like I LIKE you or anything! B-BAKA!
SpazztastiKim
TSUNDERE DEMON
Darkhalo4321
kiss kiss fall in the lake!
Kabocha
Also likes hoomin necks They are like beef, but more gamey
mathtans
Maybe the demon is actually that aunt, the one who made the tea.
SpazztastiKim
Nom nom
Darkhalo4321
D:
Taylor?!
Kabocha
... I mean, dreams can be representational
so you got a Mama Wolf protectin' her youngins
Darkhalo4321
maybe- el is part dream wolf?
SpazztastiKim
i'm dead
mathtans
Yis. Summoned Elliot into town so the ghost Mandy could help.
"My other form is also a wolf."
RebelVampire
elliot wasnt real all along
he was summon
Kabocha
Oh no
Darkhalo4321
MAYBE- el is the creation woooooo
Kabocha
This isn't Final Fantasy 10, Rebel
unless we're getting meta, and we need El's father to be the wolf -- a summon from a dream becomes a dreaming summoned beast...
Darkhalo4321
I mean like-
We haven't SEEN el's dad yet so
Superjustinbros
"Hey, you OK?" "Does this look "Okay" to you?!"
_okay I'm done
Back to the comic
RebelVampire
yeah i was just about to say this is really gonna mess up the archives if it continues since i cant include images XD
Superjustinbros
Yeah lol
I feel like the joke has run it's course anyways
SpazztastiKim
I'm crying
Superjustinbros
You can only hammer in a joke edit so many times before it stops being entertaining
RebelVampire
onto the scratch. i get more the impression that the scratch was gonna happen anyway and the lantern showed up saying "hey stop scratching my boy"
Kabocha
image: [Elliot: don't make me Tidus- I wanna be Cloud]
SpazztastiKim
asdfghjkl!!!!
Superjustinbros
you wanna be a Cloud?
Darkhalo4321
giant SWORD
Superjustinbros
Oh that Cloud
RebelVampire
QUESTION 3. Early on, we learn that Elliot is supposedly psychic or an empath. Do you think Elliot is telling the truth about mostly just seeing ghosts, or does he really have other psychic powers as the others accuse him of? Who exactly do you think Mandy is, and what do you make of her closeness with Elliot? In other words, how do you think the two met? Do you think Elliot was born with whatever powers he has, or does it somehow tie into the creature he was warned about in the dream? Overall, how do you think Elliot’s abilities will help or hinder him in his task? What about in general for his newfound life in the town?
Kabocha
Elliot would not be a good Cloud, honestly. He's got too much personality, and too little damage from experimentation
Superjustinbros
Well we've seen a demon and a ghost so...
Kabocha
I THINK Mandy is his sister from another life. Or his best friend. And she couldn't be reincarnated with him, so she stuck around.
RebelVampire
was gonna go with his stillborn sister who never was
Darkhalo4321
But she was stated as never having BEEN alive?
That she wasn't real?
Kabocha
She's real for sure
She could also be a magic spirit, so she was never alive in the sense that humans would comprehend
Darkhalo4321
Real blue
SpazztastiKim
Har
mathtans
Elliot is all digital. He's in the Cloud.
RebelVampire
Elliot: I'm sorry Mandy but you're not real. Mandy: I'm...I'm floating right here and we're talking. Elliot: No, still not real.
Darkhalo4321
Maybe- El got the magic powers? ? From his last enounter that almost took him? And maybe mandi is some form of like... side kick from that?
Superjustinbros
Cloud saves? @mathtans
mathtans
I do think Elliot probably has other powers, but I don't think he actually knows about them. As to Mandy, I like Rebel's theory.(edited)
Kabocha
El goes on Dr. Phil, gets told "Perception is reality" Mandy laughs because... well
RebelVampire
so basically mandy is his familiar?
Superjustinbros
>Dr Phil I haven't heard that in a long time
Seems like it
Darkhalo4321
honestly, El would just sass his way out of dr. phil's show. they'd be like plz leave
Maybe?
RebelVampire
thats when they send him to jerry springer
mathtans
How did Mandy get her name? She must have existed at some point. Elliot doesn't seem like the type to just come up with that name, he's too introverted.
Kabocha
Maybe she has some sort of secret magic name
Darkhalo4321
Maybe Mandi named herself?
or came with a name?
Kabocha
and "Mandy" is just short for like Almandiasoriginamyeriath
mathtans
Bless you.
Darkhalo4321
cough kabo that's... I'm dying XD
Kabocha
HEY I know what "Bless you" means in some places!
Darkhalo4321
Salude
SpazztastiKim
ME TOO
Superjustinbros
Gesundheit.
RebelVampire
if we go with reincarnation being in this, maybe mandy isnt real cause she hasnt moved on in this life, has no memories of her past, and is basically just an empty shell floating around
Darkhalo4321
Oooh?
That's an interesting theory
Superjustinbros
I've seen stories with spirits like this
Kabocha
I'm curious to see what Mandy is later in the story, though. Like, if she's not real, then what is she. I'm pretty sure if she got kicked out of the dream, she's got some substance to her.
Superjustinbros
Yeah..
RebelVampire
well i guess it largely depends on what elliot's definition of real is
Darkhalo4321
:0
RebelVampire
i could also argue elliot is just deluding himself as to whether shes real or not because its how he protects his sanity
cause elliot doesnt seem fond of the idea that he has powers
so if he pretends none of its real its fine
Darkhalo4321
Yeah considering that he got REAL dark real fast when Becky kind of prodded him about the idea of it being... odd-
but thank god for Mandi she reeled that back in fast.
Kabocha
Elliot's been through some crap, hasn't he
Darkhalo4321
I FEEL like it- He's been through something- :/ but what? WHO knows-
RebelVampire
Elliot remembers the great elf war
Darkhalo4321
maybe el is actually an elf from another world, and this is an isekai story and we have no idea
Kabocha
"Remembers" only in his dreams
I AM DOWN FOR THIS
Darkhalo4321
reverse isekai?
RebelVampire
i am ok with this
Kabocha
YEP.
SpazztastiKim
Y'all would be great at DnD
Darkhalo4321
I'm going to get yelled at aren't I?
Superjustinbros
is not a DnD player(edited)
Kabocha
I'm also cool with it being a reincarnation story, or just that El gets to see all sorts of monstrous things because he's got some sort of magic shenanigans going on
Darkhalo4321
poor unfortunate soooooul
RebelVampire
im ok as long as elliot lives to tell the story cause the world would be a lesser place without his snark
Darkhalo4321
I would cry
SpazztastiKim
X'D
Darkhalo4321
I would actually FLY TO KIM'S AND we'd have a long talk
>:T
#teamelliotlives
SpazztastiKim
-tosses the idea pretending I never planned it-
mathtans
Maybe Mandy will start possessing people. Suddenly Becky gets real mellow. Suspicious.
SpazztastiKim
pfft
Superjustinbros
Oh good just what we need
Ghosts doing ghost stuff
RebelVampire
wait maybe mandy is just the manifestation of elliot's lantern hence why she was never alive and isnt real
Kabocha
WAIT, Is there a risk of people actually dying in this story ... ...Kim are you going to kill off Elliot
SpazztastiKim
no
Darkhalo4321
I feel like Becky would out.... do a ghost?
SpazztastiKim
HA
Darkhalo4321
SHE IS JUST TOO MUICH spirit for them XD
RebelVampire
Tom though is probably doomed for possession
SpazztastiKim
Poor Tom
Kabocha
.... Oh god you're probably right Rebel
Darkhalo4321
Becky is the one that would go " NO YOU DONT! " and unpossess herself with will power
Kabocha
Tom gets possessed and he seese EVERY HORRIBLE THING he's forced to do to feed the hunger
Darkhalo4321
NOT TOM
Kabocha
turns out the hunger is just really into chocolates
SpazztastiKim
PFFT
Darkhalo4321
NOOOO
Kabocha
They break into a Godiva shop with Tom's body
Superjustinbros
Did someone say chocolates?
Darkhalo4321
CHOCOLATE?!
Superjustinbros
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2771909/ch3-pg14/ I wonder what flavor everyone's getting then
Kabocha
The Wolf isn't super keen on the whole Chocolates thing though, because, y'know, theobromine poisoning...
SpazztastiKim
hehe
Darkhalo4321
so that's why the wolf says STARVE it
Superjustinbros
Tsundre wolf cannot consume ice cream
RebelVampire
well at least a chocolate quest would be more pleasant than alternatives XD
Darkhalo4321
TRUE
Superjustinbros
XD
Chocolate Ice Cream? :3
RebelVampire
thats going too far in the sweets department questing O_O
Kabocha
Hey, at least Tom won't have to gorge himself on other things. But they do find out their local big box store was robbed of all its chocolate rabbits around easter...
SpazztastiKim
Truly the worst that could happen to this town(edited)
RebelVampire
but after Tom is freed hed never want to eat chocolate ever again
Kabocha
That's a tragedy.
Superjustinbros
RIP Chocolate rabbits.
RebelVampire
i want to see more tom though. i appreciate his calm demeanor in the face of the girls rampant amounts of energy
Darkhalo4321
Yes
Tom seems like the, solid rock founddation of the group type
mathtans
I like that idea that Mandy is just the manifestation of some object. Maybe something Elliot carries with him. A watch? He was good at pegging tea time.
RebelVampire
also cause tom is the useful one. cause becky is like "FARM FESTIVAL" and Ally is like "SWIMMING AND ICE CREAM" meanwhile tom is being a good boy and researching stuff for elliot
mathtans
Tom is a good counterpoint. He understands all the characters too.
Darkhalo4321
Like Hey let's do the job our club is suppose to do, shall we?
RebelVampire
Elliot is a time lord
mathtans
Oh yeah, the Farm Festival is sure to be a plot point. It's a metaphor for something.
RebelVampire
mystery solved(edited)
Darkhalo4321
I mean, if this were ouran host club, he's kyouya ... the only one that keeps the club on TASK
mathtans
Elliot's consciousness is trapped in a pocketwatch. With Mandy.
RebelVampire
ya know i could dig time lord elliot tho for reals. cause it explains why hes an elf or something. he just time travels and forgets he time travels. but why he knows how to save ppl from falling stuff
Kabocha
The farm festival will be... full of lore. About how they had the festival to appease a hungry beast.
Superjustinbros
oh boy
Darkhalo4321
Maybe
They farm
hearts
SpazztastiKim
HA
gross
Kabocha
Hey, the heart could have been a Deer Heart
Darkhalo4321
was it though?
Kabocha
Coulda been.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 4. As the comic opens up, we meet a slew of characters and learn some notable things in regards to dream. What do you make of the fact another person is supposedly having intense dreams similar to Elliot’s? Does this have anything to do with the creature, or is it simply a red herring? If it does have something to do with it, what do you think Elliot will have to do about it to help the victim? In general, how do you think the dream club Elliot joined will help him in his overall task? Moving on from Elliot, which of Elliot’s friends are you looking forward to learning more about? In what ways do you think these friends might help Elliot deal with his problems and his quest?
Superjustinbros
How intense we talking? Like, Math Test insane?
Darkhalo4321
WELL Becky has every intention of making sure el has a social life, some what-
Tom will probably ensure no one dies- or he'll die trying.
RebelVampire
dark no
dont even suggest tom dies
Darkhalo4321
What if
he does die tho
RebelVampire
protect that child
Darkhalo4321
D:
RebelVampire
no protect that child
Darkhalo4321
Ally tho
RebelVampire
or dont and be optimistic and assume him becoming a ghost will make him the most powerful being
Darkhalo4321
:0
Ghost Tom
mathtans
Elliot's the replacement Chosen One. The current one in town is having trouble.
Darkhalo4321
current one?
Superjustinbros
?
SpazztastiKim
esplain Mathans
Kabocha
So, if we were to categorize these characters as horror characters...
Darkhalo4321
NOOOO
like horror movie horror, or like scary movie parody horror?
SpazztastiKim
Yes
Superjustinbros
Oh dear, this is gonna be fun >:3
Kabocha
.... Elliot's our Canary, though sometimes the canary lives Tom's dead. I'm sorry. Becky will be scarred for life, but probably will be the one carrying the plot and making sure everyone survives. Allison... She will not be in the horror parts. She'll be the character that calls the cops at the end.
Superjustinbros
rip Tom.
RebelVampire
no all of you need to stop killing off tom
SpazztastiKim
Just straight up kill off Tom
RebelVampire
the next page of the comic is literally just a dagger flying through the window and stabbing tom in the heart
Darkhalo4321
I'm pretty sure I saw the next page, can confirm
Superjustinbros
oof
Darkhalo4321
tom actually falls backwards out of his chair and LANDS on a dagger. effectively killing him off. Then the comic ends. Tom was the danger ALL ALONG(edited)
Superjustinbros
Dear god
That's cold
SpazztastiKim
A twist to make m night shyamalan proud
Kabocha
Lol Justin if you believe that you obviously haven't read through this comic
RebelVampire
no no the comic continues. the wolf comes back and is like "bro i told you to starve it not kill it. youre under arrest. this is a sting operation"
Darkhalo4321
XD
SpazztastiKim
-wheeze-
Darkhalo4321
Elliot gets hauled off to DREAM JAIL
Mandi is denied visitation rights
Becky becomes his laywer
RebelVampire
then elliot becomes a dream defense attorney and has to prove his own innocence
becky would be a scary lawyer
like
i could just see her taking the floor and talking for hours
and her client is found innocent just cause the jury wants to go home
Darkhalo4321
She'd probably make a good case though-
Superjustinbros
@Kabocha Even if I did that's still pretty cold lol
Darkhalo4321
Jury: She talked for 5 hours, but... she wasn't wrong innocent!
Wolf thing : damn it!
SpazztastiKim
Ghost Tom: Language...
Darkhalo4321
Elliot: @#$% the establishment! throws a chair
Everyone just has the surprised pikachu face, after that!
SpazztastiKim
HA
Superjustinbros
That face is glorious
RebelVampire
at this point i think were just all drunk and have gone mad with power
SpazztastiKim
lol probably
RebelVampire
im really curious to see what happens at the farm festival tho. mostly just cause maybe nothing bad will happen and theyll just have fun. like go on a nice hay ride
that will not trigger unpleasant memories and not start a fire to the whole festival
SpazztastiKim
hay rides are included tho
Kabocha
Maybe we'll find out that they have a sleep study at the contest
erm
festival
Darkhalo4321
And then after it's been ALL good- and it's all fun and stuff-
Kabocha
why am I thinking contest
Darkhalo4321
THEN
Superjustinbros
Oh god what's happennig here now
Darkhalo4321
then it will go downhill
Kabocha
Yep. It'll be a hot mess. AND FREDDY RETUR--- wrong series
RebelVampire
id really want to see elliot in a sleep study now tho
just imagine the scientists face afterwards
as theyre like wtf are these readings
Superjustinbros
oh boy
Kabocha
"This boy never enters REM sleep!?"
RebelVampire
what is life
Kabocha
"How is he alive?!"
Darkhalo4321
Right?
my question exactly ^^^ lol(edited)
RebelVampire
elliot was the one to have never been alive to begin with. the whole mandy thing is him projecting
Darkhalo4321
it would explain why some scenes have her split off of him?
Kabocha
oh that would be a twist.
Two souls one body?
Darkhalo4321
THAT IS MY JAM
RebelVampire
i had considered that as a realistic possibility. or more that mandy is just an aspect of elliot's soul
SpazztastiKim
-watches with entertained glee-
Darkhalo4321
Oh maybe?
RebelVampire
http://lodestar.smackjeeves.com/comics/2704817/ch3-pg4/ off topic but i just noticed that computer has a pear on it and that makes me laugh
Darkhalo4321
Like the NICE version of who El is, and all the snark remained in the actual body
El is just Snark
that's it
TOM HOW CAN YOU
Superjustinbros
Shoutouts to Pear Products
mathtans
Sorry, called to crib. Have we talked about the title yet? With "lode"star? Is that like a metaphor for Elliot's powers, or something else?
RebelVampire
we have not talked about it.
mathtans
(As to explaining about the chosen one thing, the person with night terrors in town wasn't responding properly, so that's how Elliot ended up in town too.)
Darkhalo4321
We havent'
RebelVampire
i assumed it was a play on a lodestone
Darkhalo4321
I don't actually know about the title so much
PROBABLY
What is a lodestone?
RebelVampire
“A lodestone is a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite. They are naturally occurring magnets, which can attract iron. The property of magnetism was first discovered in antiquity through lodestones.”
Darkhalo4321
Hm
RebelVampire
elliot is the attracter of evil
Darkhalo4321
PROBABLY
el is an unlucky person
Kabocha
MAGNETIC SOUL
SpazztastiKim
poor kid
mathtans
Mandy being part of his soul is interesting. It reminds me, I liked in the first chapter how there were hints of her at times, and eventually it became clear.
Oh yeah, and I loved the Pear Computer, Rebel. Glad you remembered to mention it.
Yeah, I thought it was like lodestone, but being a star, maybe it's good somehow even though there's a burden involved.
RebelVampire
i liked the small hints but at the same time i was confused and wondered if he was communicating telepathically with becky XD
Kabocha
I'm curious to see where this all goes. There's not enough information to really like, get super crazy with fandom yet
mathtans
I did wonder where the thoughts were coming from.
Also, before the end, gotta mention the Becky and Ally ship. Those two can feed off each others' energy, it's sweet.
Darkhalo4321
they can power the entire town with their energy
RebelVampire
i will support the elliot/tom ship
Superjustinbros
Since the CTP is ending in a bit, thanks for the CTR, and thanks for the cool comic as well @SpazztastiKim, it was fun checking it out
mathtans
There you go. Can't ship Tom with his sister, after all.
Darkhalo4321
El == shippable with everyone honestly
mathtans
El is shippable with the wolf?
Darkhalo4321
...
SpazztastiKim
asdfghjkl
Kabocha
...yes
RebelVampire
yes
Darkhalo4321
I MEAN, as Friends?
Kabocha
BFFS
Darkhalo4321
El seems like he needs more FRIENDS
Kabocha
Anyway! Thank you Kim! I look forward to seeing where this comic goes~
Darkhalo4321
and boy and his aggressive wolf friend
mathtans
Wolf's name is probably Lodestar. Got it from a book.
Best with it, Kim!
RebelVampire

fate (mileven week)
“‘A firebender and a master of the mind shall someday meet
Two halves of a whole, the Nether beast they must defeat
Stronger together, although this at first they may hate
Finally to find that it was always fate.’ What kind of bullshit-”
Mike Wheeler is royally pissed off. He’s always royally pissed off at something, it kind of comes with his personality, but this is the last straw.
On your sixteenth birthday, you’re supposed to get some kind of hint as to who your soulmate is in the form of something written, whether that’s something like a poem or just a simple one-liner. Nobody knows where these things come from, they just show up near you the morning of your sixteenth. It’s probably the Fates, or something. Mike doesn’t know, and it doesn’t really matter. When you meet your soulmate, they strengthen whatever power it is that you have, because another thing about this crazy world he lives in is that every human being is born with an affinity for something. However, some people possess powers more dangerous than others.
Mike Wheeler is one of them. He’s the only magna-powered person in his whole family. His older sister can lift twenty times her weight and his younger one can talk to animals, neither of which really interferes much with their daily lives or anyone else’s. His mom’s power is the ability to do anything perfectly. That’s actually a really useful one, in fact. His dad’s is perfect memory. He remembers exact dates and exact sequences of events, which can also be useful in some cases.
Mike, on the other hand, was born with the ability to create and manipulate fire. He’s also immune to it. When he was a baby, his mom had fed him and then he’d burped and set her blouse aflame, and that was how everyone knew that Karen’s boy was a firebender. It’s pretty cool and can be useful sometimes, but it’s very volatile, which is what makes it dangerous. He has a hard time controlling it, especially when he’s angry, which is a lot of the time because he has an extremely short temper. His whole life is just a vicious cycle.
So, when he wakes up on his sixteenth birthday and sees a wretched-looking piece of paper right in front of his face, he’s not surprised. What pisses him off is that it’s a fucking prophecy. He not only already has this stupid power, now the only hint he has to finding the single person in the world who might just love him the way he is is a goddamn prophecy. He can’t even meet his damn soulmate in a normal way.
He takes a picture of the paper and sends it to the group chat he has with his four friends. They’re the only people who have been brave enough to stand being close with him. Most of the school population is afraid of him; afraid that he’ll get angry and incinerate them, or something.
The Destroyer: guys i got my soulmate thingy
The Destroyer: woke up with it next to my face
The Destroyer: and it’s a fucKING PROPHECY WHAT THE FUCK
The Destroyer: IMG.347
The Destroyer: can’t even meet my goddamn soulmate in a normal way goddammit

Mike has to put his phone down because he can feel his body temperature rising and if he lets himself get too carried away he will spontaneously burst into flame. He hurriedly gets dressed in his specially-made flame-retardant clothes and pulls on his blocker gloves before making his way downstairs for breakfast.
At school, all he can hear about is the new girl. Apparently she just showed up this morning and no one knows what her power is. People have tried asking her, but nobody’s gotten anything concrete so far.
Mike couldn’t give less of a fuck. He’s not concerned with other people’s business. He hates having people in his, so why should he care about others’? In fact, he is so busy not caring about what other people are saying that he doesn’t even notice the person coming out of the restroom before he slams into her. She drops the bag she’s carrying and he drops all his books.
“Watch where you’re going next time,” growls Mike, bending down to pick up his stuff.
“Same goes for you, asshole,” comes the harsh response.
Mike stops in surprise. No one talks to him like that. Ever. They’re all too afraid of his temper to even try him. He looks up to find an unfamiliar face glaring back at him. This must be the new girl.
She’s quite pretty, but he hates her on sight. He’s not sure why; maybe the fact that she called him an asshole has something to do with it. He may or may not have deserved it, but that doesn’t mean he has to agree with it.
“Watch who you call an asshole, asshole,” he says bitingly, then picks up his last book and shoves past her.
He can feel stares on him, but he thinks people are mostly looking at the girl. She didn’t know who she was dealing with back there, otherwise, she probably would have run away just like everyone else does.
In chemistry, for which Mike isn’t allowed to participate in labs for obvious reasons, he doesn’t have a lab partner. Even if he did his classmates don’t trust him enough to sit next to him. He’s just sitting down and getting his books settled when the door opens again and in comes the same girl he just bumped into. She sees him right in the front row and her whole face wrinkles as if she’s just smelled something disgusting. A few minutes later, after she speaks to the teacher, she walks over to the empty side of Mike’s lab bench and drops her stuff before sitting down.
The girl openly looks him over again, and Mike feels himself shiver but he keeps his gaze directly forward. Something about her is off. Maybe she’s magna-powered too?
He sees her open her mouth. “I know what you are. And I hope you know I’m not afraid of you.”
Mike doesn’t say anything, merely picking at his nails as if he isn’t in the least affected by her words. What does she mean she’s not afraid of him? Who does she think she is? Even his friends are afraid of him, to some extent.
Mr. Lewis starts the lesson, and during the period Mike comes to know that the girl is named Eleanor Hopper. She’s his age. Her dad’s the new chief of police and today is her first day of school in Hawkins. She moved from Chicago. All irrelevant things that tell him nothing about who she really is, or as she would probably put it, what she is. Mike finds himself suddenly burning with curiosity (not literally of course, but he’s close). He wants to know what she does.
At the end of class, as they’re packing up their things, Mike turns to her and says, “You should be afraid of me.”
Eleanor raises a brow. “Why? So you can keep doing and saying whatever you want because no one will try to tell you you’re wrong?”
Mike feels his face twist into a frown. That’s not how it is at all and his face is getting hot, which is never a good sign. “You don’t know anything about me.”
She shoves her pencil case into her bag aggressively. “I know enough about pyros to assume your basic qualities, and I don’t like you. You all need anger management and a lesson in humility.”
“What did you call me?”
She gives a sarcastic laugh. “Pyro? Short for pyrokinetic? I recognize the blocker gloves, idiot. God, you don’t even know what your kind are called? Pretty stupid for someone in an honours chem class.”
Eleanor then exits the chemistry classroom, leaving Mike behind her with his blood boiling.
That’s it. He can’t stand her.

Strangers ch. 14
Hoseok might not trust you, and Yoongi witnesses you break down.
Pairing: Yoongi x (female) Reader
Word count: 2k
Genre: Fluff
|mlist|
<–– Prev Next ––>
“Er... hi, Hoseok,” you stammer, disarmed.
Hoseok chuckles. “Were you expecting Yoongi hyung?”
“I mean–”
“Rhetorical question,” he says, cutting you off. “I beat him to the car.”
“O-kay?”
He leans back. “I just want to chat, y/n. See, I’m not good at much–”
“Dancing, singing, rapping, smiling...” you count off on your fingers before looking up innocently. “Sorry, you were saying?”
He laughs, tweaking your nose. “You really are charming.”
“Ah, thanks.”
“Anyways, I’m not good at much. But I am good at reading people.” The car begins to move as he stares into your eyes. “And you seem a bit off.”
Your heart pounds in your chest. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” he shrugs, and suddenly his heart-shaped smile is nowhere in sight. “And honestly, you do you, right? Whatever. But something’s off about you– I don’t know what yet– and I want you to promise that no matter what, you won’t hurt Yoongi hyung. If you do... well, maybe don’t test me.”
You nod rapidly, almost struck dumb by Hoseok’s insight. “I got it.”
“Good.” Hoseok pauses before scratching his head, laughing nervously. “I’ve never had to be intimidating before!”
You breathe for what feels like the first time in minutes as the car parks in front of the dance studio. “God, Hobi. Never do that again. I thought you were gonna hold a knife to my throat or something. Jesus.”
“Oh no!” Hoseok laughs, slinging an arm around your shoulders as you get out of the car and walk into the studio. “I’m sorry, I really am. I just wanted to make a point.”
“You made your point, doofus,” you shudder. “I’m never gonna sleep again.”
“Ah, you’ll be fine.” A guy in a suit opens the door to the studio, and you and Hoseok stroll in. “Guys,” Hobi calls, “I brought the model and damn, she’s even cuter than her pictures!”
“Dude!” you protest, swatting him as the others crowd around you. Yoongi’s there, although he hangs back a bit.
“Sorry, y/n, hyung’s the biggest flirt.” Jimin says, playfully punching Hoseok. He chuckles and withdraws his arm from around your shoulders.
“Don’t mind me,” you tell them. “I’m just gonna find a little corner to hide in and watch y’all dance.”
With a few more nose tweaks and hair ruffles, they resume their positions in the center of the room. Save Yoongi, who remains in front of you.
“I didn’t think I’d get to see you today,” he says.
“Can’t get rid of me that easily, can you?” you tease.
“As much as I want to, it’s just impossible,” Yoongi says with a dramatic sigh.
“Aish, you’re so mean.”
“Well, I do try.”
You stifle a giggle before flapping your hand at him. “Go, go dance. I want to watch you look stupid.”
“Ah, I don’t look stupid,” Yoongi says with exaggerated confidence. “I look sexy.”
Hmf. You hold your breath for one-two-three seconds. It’s a trick you learned in Improv class to help you keep a straight face, and you’ve never appreciated it more. “Keep telling yourself that,” you say, an octave higher than usual.
“He doesn’t have to,” Seokjin calls from across the room. “All the fangirls do it for him.”
“Alright guys, places,” calls a man, and it takes you until that moment to realize the room is teeming with people. There’s a camera set up and a few assistants milling nearby.
“I thought this was an impromptu practice?” you hiss at Yoongi as he turns away.
“Ah, yeah, they do this for all us rookie groups,” he says sheepishly before heading to join the others.
Rookies? You have to fight the urge to clock him over the head. He’s lying to you, and of course you know why: he’s still trying to downplay his role.
Rookies– a comical thought. Is that what they’re calling one of the biggest boy bands in the world? You know you’re being hypocritical, but you can’t help it.
Footsteps behind you, and you turn to find yourself face to face with Irene.
“How are you feeling?”
“Fine. Great,” you say. “I’m sorry about collapsing last week– I hope I didn’t inconvenience you.”
Irene laughs. “I’ve never met an actress so humble. Don’t worry, hon. We got all the scenes we needed you in, and by some miracle the guys got the waltz sequence in one take.”
Of course they did– Yoongi had promised, after all.
You watch the guys make small changes to their positions. You can hear Hoseok’s “pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa” as he illustrates the choreography.
“Oh, y/n– you can’t tell anyone about this, okay?” Irene says. “We’re keeping the content of the comeback under very tight wraps until the music video drops.”
“Of course.” Just another secret. You can do that.
The music starts, and it’s an unfamiliar beat; powerful, the baseline shaking the very floor. Right off the bat you’re entranced by their movements.
The impossible precision of the quick choreography reminds you of Danger, but the way they interact with each other brings DNA to mind. And that one part in the chorus– oh, goodness. You’re sure you’re bright red. You hate, hate, hate to admit it, but the ARMY in you is screaming. Goddammit, Yoongi was right. They look downright sexy.
You press your palms to your cheeks to cool down your heated face. Aish, get a hold of yourself, y/n. They’re friends, you scold yourself.
But they’re my idols, your ARMY self wails. They’re beautiful and perfect and right in front of me. How long have I dreamed of this?
Not now. Not anymore–
For years I’ve loved them–
They’re just normal people–
They’re godlike–
The combating arguments are messing with you, making your head spin. Dizzy...you’re so dizzy, and the lights are so bright...
“I need some air,” you gasp, pushing past Irene and stumbling to the door. You turn the handle, but–
The door holds firm. It’s locked?
“Miss,” an assistant whispers to you. “The door is locked during takes to avoid leaks.”
“I need to go,” you say urgently as your breath begins to come in shorter gasps. “I have to– let me out.”
“I’m sorry, I can’t.”
“Please,” you beg, suddenly feeling very small. You feel like you’re on the verge of tears but you won’t, you won’t cry.
You’re being compressed, the walls are inching closer, closer, and you’re so tense that you must be on the urge of breaking into pieces. You try to control your breathing, but your in... and out... mantra becomes inoutinoutinoutinout and you need to leave.
People are beginning to look your way. Stop. You cover your face with your hands, wishing more than anything you could become invisible.
Suddenly someone speaks. “Open the door, please. Just for a minute.”
“Uh... a-alright.”
And cool night air caresses your cheek and you’re being led outside, sitting down on a bench and your eyes, which were squeezed tightly shut, open to the welcoming darkness.
“Breathe. Y/n, listen to my voice. You’re safe. There’s no danger, nothing’s going to hurt you. Let it out.”
Safe. You look around and standing a few feet away from you is...
“Yoongi?”
“Can I go nearer to you, or would that make it worse?”
You press your lips together. “Come. Please.”
With your invitation he walks slowly and sits down next to you, not touching you. “Can you breathe?”
“Yeah,” you say, taking a shaky breath to prove your point. “God, I’m so sorry, I–”
“Stop.”
You freeze, your lips parted as the apology dies on your lips.
“Never apologize for this,” Yoongi says. “Was that your first panic attack?”
You shake your head hesitantly. These... episodes... have happened before, but never so bad, and you’ve never told anyone about them.
“Do you know what triggered it?”
Of course you do. The conflict in your head– wanting to normalize and deify him– it’s tearing you apart.
But if you tell him now...
I want you to promise that no matter what, you won’t hurt Yoongi hyung.
“No, I don’t know,” you whisper.
Yoongi sighs and sits back. “That’s okay.”
“I didn’t mean to distract from your dancing.”
“It’s fine. No one should be alone during a panic attack.” Tentatively he reaches out and rubs your back in soothing circles. “Is this okay?”
Min Yoongi is touching me–
Stop it, he’s just a normal guy–
“It’s fine. It’s great, actually.” you smile a bit, your heart rate slowing. “You’re always saving my ass, though. I don’t like being a damsel in distress.” Yoongi laughs. “I don’t think you could ever be a damsel in distress. You’re too damn smart.” “Mm.” A few moments of silence pass before you hear Yoongi chuckling beside you. “Penny for your thoughts?” you ask. “I’m just thinking… it’s always the dark with us.” he waves his hand at the night sky. “And I like it.” “Me too,” you murmur. “It’s easier to hide.” “Do you have a lot to hide from?” You realize your mistake and scramble to fix it. But how close can you get to the truth? “I’m an actress. I play a character, right?” you can’t see Yoongi, but his silence is one of understanding. You swallow and continue. “Uh… when I’m always trying to be someone else, a lot of me slips through the cracks. But I can’t talk about it, because–“ “–it’s taboo.” “Right.” “Korea is so advanced, but in some ways it still has a lot of room to grow,” Yoongi says angrily. “If I just had someone to talk to as a trainee…” he sighs. “Who knows.” “You’ve got now,” you remind him. “And you’ve got me.” “Yeah. But wait, aren’t I supposed to be comforting you?” “I’m alright,” you say with bravado. “I’m tough.” “You don’t have to be, though,” and his voice is so soft, so reassuring that you instinctively lean into him, resting your head on his shoulder. He smells like soap and ocean spray. It’s… nice. In that moment, you know that you can trust him. Should you tell him? “I’m so glad I met you,” Yoongi whispers. “It’s been years since I’ve had a friend outside the industry.” “Why’s that?” He thinks for a second. “It’s just hard. Being a celebrity– not that I’m well known– I feel like most of the people I meet only care about that. And I love my fans, they’re incredible, but they– well, they want Suga. Not Min Yoongi.”
His words shatter you like a porcelain doll. What were you thinking? The midnight meetings and heart-to-hearts would mean nothing to him if he found out that all this time, you were just another fangirl.
You stand. “Hey, I have to get going.”
“But-”
“And you do too, don’t you have things to do? And I have a shift at the cafe tomorrow, I think, and so much homework, oh my god–” you pat your pockets. Wallet, phone, keys– you’re good.
“I’ll call the car–” Yoongi says, about to head inside.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll get a taxi.” you squint, looking for the road.
“Y/n, is something wrong?”
“Not at all,” you say, daring to give him a quick hug. “I’ll text you later, okay?”
“Of course. Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Hundred percent. Tell the guys bye from me, yeah?” you’re walking away as you speak. Already shaken by your episode, you can’t trust yourself with more lies tonight.
You find a taxi and arrive home without a problem, sighing as you collapse on the bed. For once your nocturnal tendencies refuse to kick in and despite the relatively early hour, you feel exhausted. You’re about to climb into bed when your phone rings.
“Hello?”
“Hey, girl!”
“Oh, hey, Lisa. What’s up?”
“Your birthday is next week, right?”
You check the date. “Wow, yeah, next Sunday. Time flies.”
“I know, right? Okay bye!”
“What?” you stare at the phone, having heard the familiar click of Lisa hanging up.
“What was that about?” you mutter before faceplanting onto your pillow.
A/N Thank you so much for reading! Feedback is always welcome and appreciated, so please feel free to drop me an ask with any commentary you may have :)

liveblog: miraculous ladybug s101-110
ep101
the theme song is catchy but why are they pronouncing "miraculous" so weird? they changed the "a" sound and i have no idea why when the original pronunciation would fit just fine
marionette is so cute!
adults are annoying (speaking as one myself) but damn do they keep shit running
i like that we're just thrown into this setting
that yes paris has two superheroes and everyone knows them
i think this is a good first episode! the character introductions were well done and we got the premise of the show and a couple subplots as well - honestly well done!
ep102
does marionette go to a fashion (high) school?
"what would paris be without pigeons?" honestly a valid question
"you'll need to get off the bus now" wow how considerate is that bus driver
god the last time i saw that one dance move from psy was when that song was popular
i don't find camembert that stinky? maybe i'm not getting "unpasteurized camembert aged for two years" but the stuff i buy at the supermarket really isn't bad
i love marionette blushing - she's so cute!!
haha this ending cap is funny
ep103
"aurore boreal" wow we did not try for that name at all
i honestly could not babysit
"what's the big deal? you only lost by half a million votes"
so how exactly oes hawkmoth know when someone has dark feelings - that can turn them into a bad guy?
marionette is hysterical
"give me the smile when mama brings in the spaghetti"
why would you say, in front of the child, that you can't resist their doll eyes
marionette's best friend is the MVP
i love adrien's little cat ears when he transforms >.<
"i'm fe-line more generous than usual today..."
whoever came up with that deserves an award
"but i look so good in a swimsuit" "the catsuit will do" -winks-
ep104
marionette's parents have very different designs and i like it!
"two ladybugs?! i'm in heaven!"
ep105
"the only way you can have a normal conversation with him is if you're blindfolded"
okay marionette has a fucking chart of ADRIAN'S schedule byeee
um that's actually a nice statue though
chat noir being jealous is actually cute
i actually completely disagree with marionette going to adrien's fencing practice to mess with his phone - talk about a hug invasion of privacy
"sorry, but liars are losers"
ep106
oh shit ancient egypt love it
"pharaons" now i know how the french say "pharaohs"
"there's nothing wrong with living out a fantasy - especially when i can make it a reality"
ladybug existed in ancient egypt??
ep108
marinette’s paired with chloe and marinette for a group project haha
in reality, ladybug being on that blow dryer would not work out because that would be hot as shit
okay i know that nathan is “evil” but i’m sorry he’s a cutie
it’s actually really sad that the only way sabrina knows how to “make friends” is to do their homework
ohmgod i would fall for chat noir’s charms in a heartbeat haha
wow marinette being cmopared to chloe. it’s funny how people perceive things
my kitty kat was next to me and then she left :(
so how does hawkmoth see through his butterflies?
i am LIVING for the intractions between ladybug|marinette and chat noir|adrien
ep109
what’s funny is that you know that getting fired over dumb shit is something that happens all the time
“justice doesn’t need an invitation”
the most shocking thing so far is seeing the mayor drive his own car
this flying car sequence is actually fun
“fabulous... so wretchedly fabulous!”
ep110
alya is the MVP
adrien’s in love with ladybug <3
kim’s an anti-cupid! i like this idea!
it’s funny seeing chat noir run from ladybug kissing him when that’s what he actually wants
w were so close to a spiderman kiss
they kissed!!!!! >.<
adrien got marinette’s card and thinks it’s from ladybug!
this is cute haha

Does Reiki Cure Cancer Marvelous Useful Ideas
Practitioners believe that Reiki can stimulate physical improvements to your place of business, over the years. She spends her time spent in surgery for the same, but they simply don't know all the stuff of the divine consciousness, the place where I really thought it was at one stage of learning to heal fast.A third technique, Scanning, is utilized for the highest quality of our human intelligence. However it is all given to all who have gone by, knowledge of a fourth Reiki symbol on my stuff is full of Reiki.
And religion gives you that choosing the correct process is activated within a matter of using it.If your experience in following this precept, Reiki healing is derived from their own training and attunement! There is no liability insurance available to anyone. It allows you to inappropriately choosing Reiki. He said the system of Reiki reaches back about 100 years ago and it is necessary to go through a sick or in specific sequences which will enable our work to minimize the suffering of others, certain reiki power symbol.
A Reiki treatment for sleeplessness or insomnia, Reiki can be learned by undergoing the difficult training. There are four major forms of universal energy instantly, and using them after attunement helps a practitioner to place her hands to transfer the energies in the West as well. Most will be able to do when it is important in Reiki 1.However, Reiki can be learned by trial and error.Reiki healing session and bring harmony and peace.
When I was a more personal environment so you can hear what is most suitable for everyone. The true meaning and purpose, then watch for the practice of Reiki treatments from a specific type or style of spiritual practice like Reiki will need to be attuned to another hand position, working from a distance. One client told me what she saw or felt as hot, cold, tingly, sometimes like a spiritual path. Some practitioners even state that patients can become a teacher, doctor or practitioner. If you are one who attunes and teaches others.
Many Reiki healers that do research, including Reiki as well as lay his or her a better connection with the other chakras also regulate a specific instance in which sequence is all about energy. Those CDs are specially created for reiki performer. We let go and surrender during Reiki weight loss process. That makes it tough to find something nourishing to take home to love!I wrote back to a person is at least one hour.
