Are they more optimistic or pessimistic? Pragmatically optimistic.

Are they introverted or extroverted? extroverted

How do they display affection? touch, spending time, showing interest in hobbies etc

What is their greatest fear? Not being taken serious

Do they have siblings? Older or younger? When she left dust town her mother had no other children

Did they grow up nurtured or neglected? Being trained a Crow was an improvement to being casteless in Orzammar. And yet Crow training is not easy or being nurtured at all

What is the worst thing they did to someone they loved? Probably taking out another fledgling whom she was close to because it was part of her contract

Has anyone ever saved their life? Probably the de Riva who bought her free from Dust Town

Do they believe in love at first sight? No. Love, like friendship and any other bonding feelings take time. And trust. And a crow does not trust easily.

Are they in a relationship? It's complicated (ask Lucanis).

Has your character ever been in love? She's about to fall for Lucanis. But they both need time being awkward around each other

Are they most likely to fight with their fists or their tongue? She's a loud and brash one and she is known to get in tavern brawls. But she's witty with words too

What is their choice of weapon? Two blades. And as a de Riva preferably poisoned

How many weapons they can use? She carries a small bow and does pretty badass distance shots. But she likes to fight in melee range better.

If they could save one person, who would it be? Lucanis

What is their greatest regret? That her mother had to stay back at Orzammar as a casteless dwarf and that there were no way to find and get her later when she had the means.

How do they respond to a threat? Calling them out and facing them.

What is their greatest fear? Hurting someone she loves by being impulsive

Do they have siblings? Older or younger? Viago is her half brother (same father - so she is a royal bastard, too), one younger adopted sister, Elia de Riva neé Cousland (OC belongs to @wardenparker)

Did they grow up nurtured or neglected? The Crows are not nurturing. And Viago is especially hard on his sisters. But they knew how to play him to make things more bearable. It became easier, once Teia came into Viago's life.

What is the worst thing they did to someone they loved? not being firmer in holding Varric back from walking up to Solas all alone.

Has anyone ever saved their life? The whole Veilguard team and vice versa. Also probably Viago and her sister

Do they believe in love at first sight? No. But she believes that love can grow from a friendship and even if being apart from the loved one for many many years.

Are they in a relationship? Yes

Has your character ever been in love? Yes. She had feelings for Lucanis since she was 15 and he 17. And now finally the can be together

Are they most likely to fight with their fists or their tongue? She's an excellent negotiator. She most likely will kill you with words before she even draws her weapons

What is their choice of weapon? She wields a sword and carries a shield. Its not common for a crow but she defended her choice for so long and so often until no one wanted to get into that argument with her. Her shield is custommade and way smaller than the average warrior's shield. It's like a chakram and enchanted to be tossed and return to her.

How many weapons they can use? She's good with any type of blades, uses her shield with a passion and if necessary she can actually be pretty deadly without any weapon but her hands/body.

If they could save one person, who would it be? Lucanis

What is their greatest regret? Not being in Treviso when Lucanis was kidnapped and put into the Ossuary due to her "contract" with Varric.

How do they respond to a threat? Facing it right away

⌛for a sleep headcanon 

Xalynir was a heavy sleeper back at the circle, not anymore since Inquisition. He has a hard time falling asleep when there’s too much noise. He prefers to sleep on his side or on his stomach.

Aralc is a light sleeper and doesn’t need more than 5 to 6 hours to fully recharge. She can sleep anywhere, she’s even fallen asleep on a tree branch.

🏡 for a home headcanon 

For Xal, home is precious even if he didn’t spend much time back there. He likes to imagine Skyhold as a second home for some time.

For Aralc, home is where her found family is (meaning @vilemie @bogatyris @quizzikemen and @hinatanara ‘s kids).

💌- diary or journal?

Growing up, I kept an avid journal, though I probably really thought of it more just as a “notebook.” It was filled with a lot of day-to-day catharsis writing but also stories and drawings and ideas and poems and stuff like that. All the varying types of media made it feel just more like a “notebook” than a journal.

✨- which fictional character (book, show, or movie) do you relate to most?

I relate a lot to both Lorelai and Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. Rory has this essential millennial thing going on that I relate to on an existential level, and Lorelai’s super strained relationship with her dysfunctional parents really reminds me of my own.

🌧️- favorite thing to do on rainy days?

Drink hot coffee and write. Where I live, it doesn’t rain a lot, but this year we’ve had TONS of rain. It’s been awesome. I grew up in the midwest and really miss the seasons sometimes. I love sunshine, but there’s nothing better than the occasional rainy day.

The past twenty-four hours were a blur of confusion and sudden, dramatic changes. The constant darkness was gone, sunlight breaking through for the first time in years. Daemons that hounded the world all over, gone in moments dissipating in clouds of black particles as the sun rose.

It took time to adjust to the bright light of day again. People in Lestallum murmured and talked, excitedly, among themselves feeling the beams hit their skin. Children who were born during the years of darkness cautiously stepped out into the light, feeling it for the first time and were warmed by it. The atmosphere of excitement and joy was infectious. Isla left The Shield’s Respite in the hands of her staff and left Lestallum to meet Gladiolus as he requested. 

She stood on the shoreline, the soft waves gently lapping at her bare feet while the wind around her whipped up her hair and the skirts of the dress she was wearing. The once beautiful resort was a mess of fallen in roofing and collapsed beams, but it would heal under the hands of skilled builders in time, just as the rest of Eos would. 

For the first time in years, Isla relaxed. There were no daemons to worry about. She could hear the sound of seabirds calling overhead, smell the salt of the spray. For the first time in ten years, she could think about the future and actually believe there was one to be had. Her shoulders felt strangely lighter and as the sunlight warmed her skin, the feeling of fear and dread she carried in her chest was nowhere to be found.

Isla listened to the waves, breathed deeply, and wondered how she could have ever taken something like the sun for granted. She vowed she never would again, not after ten years without it. Her mind was calm and still as she thought of everything, and yet nothing. Free for the first time in years to simply just be. 

“Sunshine,” the soft call of Gladiolus’s voice was just loud enough to pull her from her peaceful trance-like state. She turned to look over her shoulder, and there he stood no more than thirty feet away. His hair pulled back, a small, unreadable smile on his lips, sporting the familiar black tank top that somehow survived ten years of intermittent wear.

She started running, her feet sinking into the sand with every step, but she pushed herself forward. Gladiolus walked a few steps, arms open and extended, catching her and spinning her on the spot when she all but launched herself at him. Isla braced her hands on his shoulders, peering down while he held her aloft, his hands sturdy and strong beneath her arms.

“You came back!” Isla beamed at him, unable to keep the broad smile at bay.

“Said I would,” Gladiolus replied, with a smile just as big as her own. 

“And you brought the dawn with you...” 

Slowly, Gladiolus lowered her to the ground. “...Yeah.” His smile faltered. When she touched the sand, his hands lowered to her waist. 

“What’s wrong?” Isla asked, brushing the fingers of her right-hand back through Gladiolus’s hair.

For a moment so brief she would have missed it if she hadn’t been standing so close, Gladiolus’s eyes grew distant, his expression passive, as though he was suddenly somewhere else and seeing things beyond Isla’s realm of vision. Then, as quickly as it came, he returned to her and his smile lit up his face.

“Nothing.” He bent towards her, pressing his forehead against hers. “The dawn is back. The world is safe. That’s what matters.”

“Gladio...?” Isla wanted to question him further, but a voice at the back of her mind told her now wasn’t the time. She shifted closer, claiming his mouth in a soft, heartfelt kiss while winding her hands back around his neck. Gladiolus cupped her cheek, his thumb resting in the hollow of her throat. Each time Isla went to break the kiss, he pursued, keeping that connection with an almost tangible desperation in each brush of his lips. 

From the way he kissed her, Isla could only assume something bad had occurred and that the defeating of the darkness had not been free of casualties. 

“Hey, hey...” Isla pulled away enough that Gladiolus couldn’t simply keep kissing her. “You saved the world...” she brushed her nose against his, a sign of reassurance between them since the beginning.

“Noct saved it.” Gladiolus rumbled back, his voice tight. He swallowed, hard and Isla’s stomach sank. He didn’t have to say anything, she could gather from the tightening of his jaw that Noctis would not be celebrating the victory. Wordlessly, Isla wrapped her arms around Gladiolus’s middle, squeezing him as tight as she was able. He buried his face in the curve of her neck, his shoulders shuddering and a low, strangled sound escaping his lips. 

The world was safe... but the cost had been a great one. 

This kind of goes really nicely with this commission of Gladiolus and Isla I bought in Dec ‘17 from @sarahmillercreations

I hope this was okay, @sephiratales Might not have been exactly what you expected. I tried to keep it short. I always imagine this moment of them reuniting is full of conflicting emotions for Gladio. Maybe I’ll do a piece from his point of view eventually.

Also bad chick-flicks.Talents and/or Powers: Talented biotic, decent at singing - very strong swimmer.Why Someone Might Love Them: Honest to a fault, shy but determined.Why Someone Might Hate Them: Probably that same honesty, truthfully…How They Change: Aria goes from constantly questioning herself to being a strong, confident Pathfinder; she finds love in someone who I would argue starts out equally self-depreciating (Jaal), works hard to earn the truth of her squadmates, and comes out on top a much more solid version of herself, if that makes any sense.Why You Love Them: Aria - and Andromeda in general - got me through a fairly rough patch, and she’s a character I very much identify with while writing. So even tho she’s been a bit neglected lately, she’ll always be one of my faves.

Hmm… I guess that I’m finally really starting to understand anatomy a bit more xD it’s taken a lot longer than it would for most but, if you compare stuff I was doing two years ago to now you can definitely tell the difference :3

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

“Jaca” doesn’t mean anything. There are two parts to how I came up with it. Firstly; she is my first Inquisitor and my DA self-insert OC, so I knew I wanted it to start with a J when I designed her. Secondly; I wanted it to remind of dwarven names, like we see in the games, because she’s half dwarf and thought her adoptive parents, the Trevelyans, would remind her of that just so. I think I even might have began by going to the name generator website and found something similar to it, and then changed it to become what I wanted.

16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?

My first reply was going to be: “Do watersports count?”Anyway… Nevermind. Jaca is the paper-pusher of the Inquisition by choice. She doesn’t like fast activities (and therefore leaves the demon slaying etc. to her cousin Grier). So she is definitely on the couch-potato side of the scale. Sloth could be her middle name. She does however stay in some kind of acceptable shape with long walks and swimming whenever the weather permits.
