only finally time to post this. also this isn’t a step-by-step tutorial. im assuming you generally know how to draw already, this is just a bunch of references compiled together that could help you draw them easier.

extra notes:

dont worry about a bunch of the smaller details. sentinels are littered with them and itd take ages to draw them if you tried to make them 100% every time. just focus on the bigger shapes and add from there.

their eyes ARE octagons, not circles. that being said it does not matter how you draw them because octagons are absolutely fucking obnoxious to consistently draw. i know, i have a half-sentinel oc, ive given up by now. do not place that burden on yourself. the rest of their face lights ARE circles though.

the smaller two flashers are part of their head ridges. their eyes are on a completely separate layer, and have duller ridges atop them. sentinels just have a lot of ridges in general.

if you want to use real-world dinosaurs as reference, i would use Velociraptor, Utahraptor, Deinonychus, and Dilophosaurus as references, given that theyre all similar in body shape and structure. In the concept art, Sentinels looked extremely like the Dilophosaurus, though it got switched to being more raptor-like in the actual show.

I also MORE THAN LIKELY drew their tail wrong. So if you wanna figure out its design on your own, go for it. I just had to put something down so I tried my best, but it is absolutely NOT perfect.

Same with their colors! they’re almost a completely solid grey so it was difficult for me to tell what colors went where, so I just kinda put em at random in that first image. Doing something completely different is also good, since nobody can tell anyways :)

and on a final note, you technically do not have to follow any of these!! stylize them all you want. these are just references for anyone that may want to draw them more accurately :)

YOU SPOIL ME <33 I actually went and straight up span a wheel to decide who to draw because I was like. my list of current favs is too long.

Somehow it ended up with three Animal Enjoyers, which was really funny to me.

Also because he's still plaguing my brain, I tried to draw Sentinel from memory and. thats something I can do that now, apparently.

So maybe I spent too long doing this, my iPad’s at 15% right now and it’s somehow 10:30. But uh, I drew this

I said I wanted to practice drawing TFA Elita, so I did, and drawing Optimus again since it’s been a fair bit since I have (and also Sentinel already got his turn)

I admit, Optimus at the bottom especially looks rough, though I think some of that came from me drawing his face at too small of a distance for me to make it look right, but whatever

Honestly, Elita came out looking way better than I was expecting, and honestly I think the top Optimus doesn’t look half bad either. I think Elita ends up looking better because she doesn’t have as many details going on on the top of her head, but who knows?

Also I’m giving them their lips this time. Optimus doesn’t look right without them, even if I’m still not sure how to draw his lips at the moment

I’m also only noticing now that Elita’s yellow is probably because Blackarachnia has gold as a prominent secondary color. I don’t know, random thing to point out

Honestly, I don’t really have much to say, because this was supposed to be practice for the characters for later, because now I do want to draw those kids from the fanfic. I just think it turned out good

Unfortunately I work tomorrow, so I probably won’t get far in much art. Oh well

Oh yeah and one more thing I did want to mention, I don’t like how Elita, and also the other fembots, have such a different body shape to their male counterparts, being so slim and curvy and Elita here having blue in the rest of her body to emulate showing skin. I know Blackarachnia is supposed to be the femme fatale, the Catwoman to Optimus’ Batman, so like on some level I guess it can make sense for her/Elita specifically. But I just don’t really like it, why do they have to look so overly feminine and generally share similar body types (with some exceptions like Strika), when the male characters get so much body diversity, even just in our main cast? Well okay, I know why, but I can still be annoyed at it

Like again, Blackarachnia is the femme fatale, so her previous form having similar qualities can make sense. But Elita-1 was training to be an Autobot soldier, couldn’t she be a little more buff or armored or something? I don’t know

Do you ever think about the High Guard, and wonder how many of them had conjunxes or sparklings? How many had friends, family; how many loved someone but were too scared to confess. How many never wanted anything with romance, but had close mentor-like bonds with those younger and older than them. Do you ever think about those bots, and wonder if they ever joined the High Guard, too? Or perhaps they stayed and worked for their cause in another way. Maybe whole trines would join, by force or choosing. Do you ever think about how often those bots would pray and wish for the High Guard to return safely after every battle? How they realized it was a noble cause, but hated the danger it put those they knew into. Do you ever think about how, one battle, the High Guard didn’t return? And the Primes were dead. And everybody knew that, but nobody knew how, and nobody knew where the High Guard went. Nobody knew if they died. Nobody asked, but they wondered. And slowly, those courageous bots became mere myth. Do you ever think about how often their story got told? How it may have been passed down through generation, or told on the off-chance someone brought up the Primes. Do you ever think about the High Guard, who, despite their cruel behavior and stern words, maybe really just wanted to go home? How they were stuck in hiding for years, longing to see or just be able to say goodbye to all they used to know. Do you ever think about how the first time the High Guard got to go home was cut short? Do you ever wonder how those they loved felt, seeing them fight only to hail some false, violent leader, and fly off with no words to be spared? Do you ever wonder if the High Guard regretted that day, or even the day they decided to join the military ranks beneath the Primes? Do you ever think about how the first and last time they got to be with the people they loved, was fighting against a system? Do you ever wonder if, during that battle, they ever truly saw those bots, or if they remained clueless to what happened after they disappeared? Do you ever think about what Orion said to D-16? How he should take the High Guard and leave. Do you ever wonder if some of the High Guard didn’t want to follow anyone anymore, but were forced to because of their exile? Do you ever wonder if it was because Orion knew they’d follow power, and couldn’t trust them? Do you ever wonder if the hatred that they built up over the years was more for their loss of choice than it was for believing in any sort of cause? How Sentinel took it, and Orion, and then Megatron. Do you ever think about how some of them may have wanted to leave? But they couldn’t. Because they probably had seen what D-16 did to Starscream and Sentinel. They likely saw what he still does to Starscream. And it would be too much of a risk, but they longed to have that freedom to choose again. They longed to be far away from the leading front of a war. Do you ever think about how the High Guard left for war, hid, slaughtered, and then fought in more wars? Do you wonder if the High Guard ever got a moment of peace? Do you ever wonder if that only came to those who died, and if those still living will ever get it? Do you think the High Guard deserves to finally feel peace? Do you ever think about all these warriors, later named the Decepticons? Do you ever wonder about everything we know about them, and all that we don’t? Do you ever think about how much their numbers dwindled? Do you ever think about the lives they led before, and the lives they could’ve had? Do you ever wonder about the High Guard?

Because I sure do.

So Sentinel and Airachnid would plan 9/11, and Sentinel would be the plane that crashed into the field and Airachnid would crash into the towers.

While Orion and Elita actually did 9/11.
