One of the funniest changes made from the original ACGAS to the reboot is Siegfried’s attitude towards change and upgrades. Original Siegfried would talk your ear off about the necessity of upgrades in a profession where their understanding of veterinary science is always changing and improving and he’d start making all these wild plans for altering everything about the practice (and then never do it because it costs money). Reboot Siegfried is so opposed to the idea of changing things that he felt personally affronted by the mention of it and childishly suggested that maybe they should just throw him out as well since he’s as old as some of their equipment. Conversely you have the original James who was more of a tried-and-true sort of guy who didn’t care a ton for upgrades for the sake of upgrades and reboot James who recognizes that their outdated equipment can mean they lack in things that would be very good to have in their profession. But I fully believe the Jameses could come to a happy middle after a reasoned and thoughtful debate about the merits of both viewpoints. The Siegfrieds on the other hand would find themselves in an all-out verbal brawl accusing each other of senselessly clinging to the past or brazenly wanting to rush forward respectively and it would culminate in an ever-escalating bet/battle for who can prove that they’re the one who’s right even if they have to sabotage the other in some way to win, ultimately leading to a near-fistfight in the surgery that has to be broken up by the Tristans who just walked in from hanging out together at the Drovers.
#rewatching the reboot in prep for s5 coming next month over here#and that moment in semper progrediens is still extremely funny to me#original siegfried would not only back james but he’d have brought it up first#and randomly bring a whole host of new tools into the house in an attempt to overhaul everything#and it would of course disappear by the next episode until he has another Brilliant Idea moment of bringing some other new thing in#meanwhile reboot siegfried has a breakdown and original james has to take him to the drovers to try and relax him#all creatures great and small 1978#all creatures great and small 2020#acgas 1978#acgas 2020#siegfried farnon#james herriot#tristan farnon#siegfried farnon 2020#james herriot 2020#tristan farnon 2020#acgas post#acgas post 2#semper progrediens#(this is not a rag on the reboot in any way i just find this role swap between their viewpoints amusing)

Mrs. Audrey Hall deserves nothing short of the best. The trouble is she hasn’t believed that for a long time, as we’ve seen through three seasons of All Creatures Great and Small. Instead, she’s felt shame about her failed marriage and her ruptured relationship with her son. It is, perhaps, this view of herself as a disgraced woman that has led Mrs. Hall to attend to the residents of Skeldale House so graciously. Into this life of atonement walks Gerald Hammond, a man who initially asks for nothing more than two lumps of sugar and the chance to reset her clock.
Following Gerald’s arrival in All Creatures Great and Small 2×02 “Semper Progrediens,” Audrey has slowly admitted him into her life. His advances have typically been framed as invitations that leave her with an out. Call me IF you ever want that clock fixed. I walk my dog down by the brook IF you ever want company. Gerald presumes to move the relationship forward of his own initiative only one time, in 3×04 “What A Balls Up!” Faced with Audrey’s horrified expression, he quickly discards the bouquet of flowers that mark the evening as a date in his mind.

🇸🇽 NATIONAL FLAG DAY 🇸🇽 The flag of Sint Maarten is the national flag of Sint Maarten, a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands occupying the southern half of the island of Saint Martin. The flag, designed by 17 year old Roselle Richardson, was officially adopted on 13 June 1985. Sint Maarten, as a Dutch possession on the island of Saint Martin, had been solely under the Netherlands national flag until, after becoming a component of the Netherlands Antilles, it also began flying that territory’s flag when it was introduced in 1959. However, Sint Maarten wished to have its own flag. Many suggestions for a flag design were made, including incorporating a number of distinctive symbols, before the government decided upon the final version. That flag, which included the coat of arms of Sint Maarten (established for the territory on Nov. 17, 1982), was introduced on June 13, 1985. Upon the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles on Oct. 10, 2010, Sint Maarten became an autonomous state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the flag of Sint Maarten replaced that of the Netherlands Antilles as the territorial standard. The design of the coat of arms is centred on a rendering of the distinctive courthouse at Philipsburg (Sint Maarten’s capital), which is set within an orange-bordered light blue shield. There are also a bouquet of yellow sage blossoms (genus Lantana) with green leaves, a rendering of the white monument demarcating the border between the French and Dutch parts of the island, and a gray pelican superimposed on a yellow sun above the shield. Wrapped around the lower portion of the shield is a yellow ribbon containing, in light blue lettering, the territorial motto: “Semper progrediens” (“Always progressing”). The colours of the flag and coat of arms symbolize blue for the sea, light blue for the sky, green for the fertility of the island, red for the blood of the inhabitants, and yellow for the energy of the people. #stmaarten #philipsburg #sintmaarten #nationflagday #stmaartentourism #june13th #beeksphotos #6132022 (at Philipsburg, Sint Maarten) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cev-sNuOXyC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
