The 1897 New South Wales semipostals (Scott B1-B2) commemorated the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria and raised money to support a home for consumptives (people with tuberculosis).

@licnelle
It had been 2 hours since the sounds of a battle started carrying through the air all the way to where Rija was trying to sleep. The noise, and possibility of a nearby threat, had driven her to stay awake and investigate.
Upon arriving she quickly realized it was just a clash of clans again and chose a hiding spot to sit and watch. She vaguely recognized some of the people from both sides, but the blonde one was who caught Rija’s eye and she chose to watch the most of it.
Nightraid was winning this time, but just before the battle was ended the blonde lioness lost a limb.
Now normally Rija wouldn’t care or intervene, but she couldn’t resist the urge to help the woman. Something compelled her to risk her partial solitude to find that missing limb before it was too late.
Cloaking herself in shadow while hiding her scent and essence from the world, she shape-shifted into a puma-like beast and started sniffing out the missing limb on the edges of the battle ground. Her rather blind eyes hadn’t seen where it had landed from so far away but she’d find it. Hopefully before the other noticed her visual presence and perceived her as a threat.
People seemed to really hate beasts, but it was the most natural thing she could turn into and honestly felt less suspicious than a human shape.

Pissed off with what is happening to the United States Postal Service?
Lend them your support in this trying time.
Buy some stamps from their online store (or something else). I mean at one point in your life, you are going to need stamps, so why not just have some.
And a small added bonus, is that this might piss off some Rebulican who hates the USPS because you know it’s actually a government service people like.
Here are some stamps that I liked (and some I bought) w/ links to the USPS Store.

Big Bend Priority Stamp

Save Vanishing Species: Tiger Semipostal First Class Stamp
Tumblr media
American Gardens Forever Stamp
Tumblr media
The Snowy Day Stamp (I got these)

Spooky Silhouettes Stamp (I got these)
Tumblr media
Lunar Year: Year of the Rat Stamp
Tumblr media
T. Rex Stamp (I got these for my dad)
Tumblr media
Wild and Scenic Rivers Stamp
Tumblr media
Frogs Stamp (I also got these)
Tumblr media
Marvin Gaye Stamp
Tumblr media
Wild Orchids Stamp
So yeah.
If you can spare $8.80-$11.00 buy a sheet of 16-20 stamps or more if you want. If you can’t (which is totally understandable considering everything), maybe let someone else know about what’s going on with the USPS.

#usstamps - “Save Vanishing Species”. From the Multinational Species Conservation Funds series, a twenty #usps #foreverstamps panel featuring the Tiger. On Sept. 19, 2011, The #uspostalservice produced a new semipostal stamp to help raise proceeds to prevent the extinction of vanishing species. The stamp features a bold illustration of an Amur Tiger cub created by artist Nancy Stahl and was dedicated during a special unveiling at the Pittsburgh Zoo on September 23. Net proceeds from the sale support preservation efforts for the African Elephant, Marine Turtle, Great Ape, Tiger, Asian Elephant, and Rhinoceros and will be transferred to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to support the sponsor of this series. This stamp marks the fourth of this semipostal series. These types of stamps provide an extremely convenient way for the American public to contribute to help protect threatened and vanishing species. #philately #philatelist #philatelic #stampcollection #mystamps #stampcollecting https://www.instagram.com/p/CWLl0e_rUyo/?utm_medium=tumblr

Child Welfare Stamps by Netherland as semi-postal stamps A semi-postal stamp or semipostal stamp, also known as a charity stamp, is a postage stamp issued to raise money for a particular purpose (such as a charitable cause) and sold at a premium over the postal value. Typically the stamp shows two denominations separated by a plus sign, but in many cases the only denomination shown is for the postage rate, and the postal customer simply pays the higher price when purchasing the stamps. Semi-postals became widespread in European countries at the beginning of the 20th century. In many cases they have become standard annual issues. The surcharges are typically a fraction of the face value. Source: wikipedia —————————————————————- Scott#: NL B684 SG#: ……. Congresswoman Shea-Porter Wants To Support People With Alzheimer’s And Their Families
Shea-Porter Co-Introduces Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Confront the Challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) today co-introduced the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Act and the Alzheimer’s Research Semipostal Stamp Act in recognition of Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.  These two bipartisan bills have more than 50 original cosponsors and were endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Association and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
“Alzheimer’s disease is a heartbreaking and growing crisis in New Hampshire. I’m co-introducing these bills because we must act now to support people with Alzheimer’s and their families, as well as to invest in research to find a cure,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter.
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Act (H.R. 2972) authorizes grants to public and non-profit organizations to expand training and support services for families, and caregivers, of patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
The Alzheimer’s Research Semipostal Stamp Act (H.R. 2973) requires the U.S. Postal Service to issue and sell a semipostal stamp, with the proceeds helping to fund Alzheimer’s disease research at the National Institutes of Health.  The bill is modeled on the popular and successful Breast Cancer Research Semipostal Stamp.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 5 million Americans were living with Alzheimer’s disease in the year 2013, and this number is expected to almost triple to 14 million by the year 2050.  The Alzheimer’s Association calculated that caregivers provided more than 18 billion hours of unpaid care for people with dementia in 2016, at an estimated value of over $230 billion. Compared with caregivers for people without dementia, twice as many caregivers for people with dementia indicate substantial emotional, financial and physical stress.
As a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease, Shea-Porter supports more research to defeat this disease and educating the public about its symptoms and effective management.
