Mattel cancelling dolls and discontinuing lines because they aren’t selling well is just so annoying.

apparently it's due to the current political climate and "low numbers" aka nick wants more spongebob/loud house timeslots (people are saying it's due to quiet on set, but i don't think that's true since nick animation studio is a completely separate department from the live action studio)

Do you guys think we'll ever get another boy doll? Idk why, but it feels really unlikely to me.

At the start, Deuce got 3 dolls pretty much right off the bat, and then hasn't had another one since. (Honestly, I'm a little worried he might be getting the Ghoulia treatment, especially since neither got music videos and were exclusives)

And other than him, we just have a Clawd doll with a bad face, and Heath, who was apart of a budget line. He didn't even get a normal doll release with a phone, snacks, or even a pet.

Blarggg I'm worried about MH right now :( the series not being renewed is so disheartening, and I feel like none of the dolls since core refresh have really been too exciting to me.... Eekend getaway, good morning ghouls, lagoona+clawdeen sports 2pack..... buried secrets too, though I hesitate to include that one bc I don't want people to think I'm tagging on it solely for being a budget line. None of them are bad dolls at all! They're super cute! But they all feel so similar to each other and they don't have very interesting themes- or at least they aren't utilizing their themes to their fullest potential... It feels like they're just putting out dolls and dolls and dolls and none of them are bringing anything new to the table :')

It makes me worried for the longevity of the line. Parents probably aren't going to want to buy a doll that looks identical to a doll their kid already owns, and honestly most collectors won't either! (And on that note... New characters. Please. I'm not even saying totally new, just use characters other than the main 3!)

I feel like the movie + corresponding doll line was really good for MH G1 because it provided an interesting concept for each line that really made them stand out from one another...

Sigh. I wish we were getting fewer dolls that were each more thoughtfully designed.

redid the top and bottom shelf a bit so that i have some more room :) core lagoona, clawdeen, and ghoulia as well as coffee break deuce got banished to my closet with my rainbow high dolls (which. now that i think about it i should probably sell those. theyve been in there since like. 2022)

i also freed up two of my clear stands, so thats a win

i also think its kinda funny that the top shelf is entirely frankie, cleo, and draculaura. wasnt my intention but here we are

I pay for a fang club membership and stayed up until 2AM to get early access for the morticia and wednesday dolls but yeah sure sell out within a minute fucking whatever. I guess mattel has 4 early access dolls in stock and that's it. fuck me I guess

I was so nervous and could barely get any words out but he was so nice and took his time meeting people.

He was selling prints and I got one for me and one for my friend and he signed them both, as well as two dolls/figures I brought with me!

The day still isn’t over yet, he’s gonna be doing a panel later, but I’m at my hotel dropping my stuff off rn and need to talk about this because I’m just so kdjfkfkfk 😭

It is very interesting that G3 started out with more points of articulation than the average fashion doll, only to completely downgrade less than 2 years in.

At this point, I don't even understand the purpose of the budget dolls. They're not easy to come by, I've only ever found 1 in store, and it was $20. At that same time, the core dolls were $17 on Amazon lol. Even now the G3 doll's prices fluctuate like crazy in the US. Hell, I got Scaridise Island Drac for like $11, but that new budget Cleo is $15?? Hello??

I'm getting the vibe that it's more for Mattel's benefit than it is for consumers. It'll just cost them less money.

I had only kinda wanted this Cleo when she dropped but like... I didnt nearly $100 want her so I was like whatever. But she grew on me and then I was like dang I do want her actually. Then yesterday at a doll show I found her and snagged her for $50 so I guess patience pays off sometimes lmao

Okay, idk what has changed, but I’ve been having the best luck finding dolls and furbies since like late July 😭 someone in my town posted this box of MH stuff for relatively cheap compared to other listings, so I went and picked them up. The box was so heavy I could barely carry it inside 😭 my shoulder still hurts and probably will continue hurting throughout tomorrow. I didn’t know there were like ~90 DOLLS until I opened it at home!!!

There were a lot that were on my ISO list as well as some that I’m probably gonna sell due to having doubles/triples. It took me hours to sort through them all and organize the accessories/limbs and furniture. I also tried matching clothing/limbs to some dolls, but I needed to quit so I could sleep. (I’m gonna actually go to bed after I post this lol) I’m gonna continue sorting and start cleaning them tomorrow 👍
