Why I don't trust OnePlus
Every once in awhile I let slip in conversation that I think OnePlus is an unethical company. My interlocutors are often surprised by this, and I'm often surprised by their surprise.
I thought I'd create this post to list what I believe are the best examples of OnePlus’ unethical approach to just about everything.
Here's my case against OnePlus:
1. They lied about their founding.
The company was founded by former OPPO vice president, Pete Lau, and former OPPO marketing chief, Carl Pei. They claimed to have left OPPO to strike out on their own, and they made a big deal about this "origin story."
When Lau announced the founding of OnePlus, he said: "Today is my last day at OPPO."
In fact, they never left OPPO.
OnePlus is a "private company." But 100% of the stock in the company is owned by Oppo Electronics. (OPPO itself is a brand of the Chinese electronics giant BBK Electronics, which sells products mainly in Russia, but also in the United States. In America, BBK products are sold under the Memorex and Philco brands.)
The whole purpose of this arrangement appears to be to create the illusion of a startup, when in fact it's owned by a giant corporation. So, rather than being an innovative, scrappy startup owned by its rebel founders, OnePlus is actually owned by a giant electronics manufacturer and the "founders" are mere employees.
(I don't mind the giant corporation. I mind the lie.)
2. They engaged in sexist marketing.
OnePlus has often experimented with aggressive marketing tactics. One of the worst was their "Ladies First" contest, whereby OnePlus called on women to draw the OnePlus logo somewhere on their body or on a sheet of paper and post the picture on social media. The company said that the 50 "most well-liked" photos (ranked by mostly male forum members) would earn a free T-shirt and permission to buy a OnePlus One phone at full price.
3. They engaged in wasteful marketing.
OnePlus initiated a "Smash the Past" contest. The company called on the public to capture video of themselves smashing their existing smartphone for the chance to win one of 100 OnePlus phones for a $1 each.
OnePlus convinced more than 140,000 people destroy perfectly good phones, unleashing toxic chemicals into the environment and wrecking phones that could have been sold or put into the hands of someone who needed a phone.
4. They shipped phones with hidden backdoors.
A security researcher discovered apps installed on OxygenOS-powered OnePlus phones called EngineerMode and OnePlusLogKit that could give hackers access to WiFi, NFC and GPS logs and enable them to root a OnePlus phone without unlocking the bootloader.
5. They lied to customers about sales.
OnePlus consistently uses fake "success theater" tactics to create the impression of wild success. The original sin of the company is to require invitations and artificial scarcity to make OnePlus phones hard to get.
But they also did this by outright lying about sales, telling customers in India: "Thanks for making OnePlus 5 the highest-grossing phone ever."
After getting caught, they claimed that the character limitations of SMS forced them to say "ever" instead of "in the launch week."
6. They were caught spying on users.
OnePlus was caught harvesting data on users, including phone locks and unlocks, reboots, IMEI numbers, phone numbers, MAC addresses and other wireless network data, along with the phone’s serial number.
7. They’re careless with customers’ personal data.
The company admitted in January of 1018 that a hack attack compromised the credit card data of up to 40,000 customers.
8. They were caught cheating at benchmarks.
And more than once.
XDA detailed how the OnePlus 5 review units OnePlus sent to reviewers was altered to cheat on benchmark tests.
9. They deleted negative reviews on their website.
OnePlus apparently and routinely deletes negative reviews on their websites, creating the false impression that all customers are happy with their products.
10. They lied about bezel size.
OnePlus marketed their OnePlus 6T smartphone on Instagram using doctored images that showed the bezel size as being smaller than it really is.
11. They achieved the fastest face unlock by shipping an insecure system.
OnePlus got a reputation for having the fastest-unlocking phone on the market for face unlock. But they achieved this by shipping a system that can be unlocked with a printed photo of the user’s face.
Face unlock is supposed to enhance security, not decrease it.
It all adds up
For some of these lapses, other companies have been similarly accused. For example, Samsung has been accused of cheating on benchmarks. LG has been accused of lying about bezel size, etc. But. to the best of my knowledge, OnePlus is the only company accused of all these things.
When accused of all these transgressions, OnePlus always has a story or reason or justification for why they're not really lying, cheating or being assholes.
They're like Facebook in that regard -- aggressively moving fast and breaking things, then apologizing or justifying when caught.
I think that it makes sense to avoid companies that lie, cheat and abuse.

Pixel 5a review: The 4a 5G wasn't broken, so Google didn't fix it
youtube
The Pixel 6 is just around the corner. But before Google brings it and its Tensor mobile chip to market, the company is updating its entry level offering with the $449 Pixel 5a. The whole point of the “a” family is to offer the basics at a reasonable price without sacrificing too much of the Pixel experience in the process. That means a relatively clean version of Android with a bunch of AI tricks and a heavy focus on photography.
But apparently Google feels like it more or less nailed that formula with the Pixel 4a 5G because the 5a is basically the same phone. (Note: The Pixel 5a is not a direct successor to the 4a, which was a much smaller device.) There are some differences — notably the addition of IP67 waterproofing — but most of the tweaks are extremely minor. Even the processor and RAM haven’t changed. So, if we said you could do better way back in October of 2020, what does that mean for the 5a in the fall of 2021?
Well, it makes the Pixel 5a about as unexciting as a phone can be, for one. But look, boring isn’t necessarily bad. Especially when you’re talking about the mid and lower tiers of the smartphone market. For one, keeping things staid allows Google to focus its efforts on battery life and performance optimization. And just like the last generation of Pixels, the 5a feels pretty responsive despite the aging Snapdragon 765G inside. That said, the 765G wasn’t exactly top of the line last year, and it’s starting to show its limits. While scrolling through the UI and doing simple things like reading email and sending text messages, the 5a is indistinguishable from any flagship device. It even handles most mobile games without a hiccup. I spent some time playing The Elder Scrolls: Blades and Wild Castle and the phone barely broke a sweat.
But, I did notice it stutter a few times while navigating YouTube, editing photos and jotting down my thoughts for this review in Evernote. The latter I could easily chalk up to Evernote’s questionable development over the last few years, but the pauses while switching to fullscreen in YouTube and swapping filters in Google Photos are a bit more concerning.
Terrence O'Brien / Engadget
The plus side of going with something a bit older and lower-powered (not to mention with an integrated 5G modem) is power efficiency. The 4a 5G was already something of a beast, lasting over 17 hours in our battery drain test before our reviews editor Cherlynn Low simply gave up and moved on with her life. That device had a 3,885mAh battery. The 5a has a 4,680mAh cell. It took 22 hours and 56 of playing a video on loop at 50-brightness before it finally powered down.
After 24 hour of heavy usage — playing games, repeatedly running 5G speed tests, installing apps, watching videos on YouTube and even letting it play sleep sounds overnight — the battery was still at 40 percent. It didn’t finally crap out until almost 2AM on day two. And if you turn on Extreme Battery Saver, things could get even more absurd. I’m fairly confident that under normal use you could get a full 48 hours out of the Pixel 5a before needing to find an outlet.
Battery life isn’t the only difference between the 5a and 4a 5G: The new phone is also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. At a time when many smartphones have at least some form of water resistance the Pixel 4a 5G was sort of a disappointment. In fact, the lack of waterproofing was one of the big cons called out in our review. But the Pixel 5a should easily survive getting caught in the rain or if you drop it in a toilet. It can withstand being submerged in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes, but I wouldn’t push this to its limits. Definitely don’t go swimming with it in your pocket.
Terrence O'Brien / Engadget
The last difference between the Pixel 5a and the 4a 5G is in the size and construction, but it’s subtle. The 5a has a metal unibody as opposed to a polycarbonate one. The texture is still matte and similar to the softtouch of the previous models, though, and the upgrade to Gorilla Glass 6 from Gorilla Glass 3 is notable, but you’ll never notice the difference in daily use. The 5a comes in one finish: Mostly Black. Some might find the look a little dull, and it’s certainly on the utilitarian side, but I quite liked the feel of the phone. The finish is a nice contrast to the seemingly endless sea of smooth glassy surfaces and the heft is just right, too.
The 5a is ever so slightly larger and heavier, but you’re talking about a few millimeters and grams. Even if you had a Pixel 4a 5G in one hand and a Pixel 5a in the other you’d be hard pressed to figure out which is which.
The change in size mostly comes down to the slightly larger screen. The OLED panel on the 5a is 6.34 inches, versus 6.2 inches on the 4a 5G. Otherwise, though, the screens are basically the same. The increased resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 makes up for the size difference so they both have a density of 413 ppi. Both also sport a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and support HDR and are stuck at now outdated 60Hz. And both are just bright enough to use in direct sunlight, though high brightness mode is definitely a necessity if you’re watching a video outdoors.
Even the holepunch for the front-facing camera is in the same place. That said, I appreciated Google’s “for fun” wallpapers that camouflage the hole by incorporating it into the design. My favorite is the record player where the camera becomes the hole at the center of an LP.
That 8-megapixel front-facing camera, by the way, is one of the weak points of the 5a. It does the job in perfect lighting and for video calls. But details can be a bit soft, in low light it gets noisy and portrait mode is hit or miss. Overall, I found Google’s portrait feature to be a bit too aggressive even on the main camera. You can easily adjust the blur and depth after the fact, but the default settings could stand to be more subtle.
The selfie cam, though, is the same one found on the Pixel 4a 5G, so none of this is a surprise. In fact, all of the cameras are the same. The two sensors around the rear, however, are much better than the one on the front. There’s a 12.2-megapixel main shooter with optical image stabilization and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. They have a somewhat “moody” vibe when compared to shots from an iPhone or a Galaxy device, but they’re not obviously inferior. And even though images taken with the wide-angle lens can get a little fuzzy if you start zooming in on details, Google’s processing does an admirable job of minimizing barrel distortion. Google isn’t at the top of the smartphone camera heap anymore, but it’s not far off and photography is still an undeniable strong suit of the Pixel family.
Terrence O'Brien / Engadget
There’s nothing new to report, though. It’s the same set of excellent photography features that you got last year: Portrait lighting can help clean up and add some contrast to photos of people (but sadly not pets — the option only appears if a human face is detected). Night Sight turns on automatically in dim lighting and at times produces mind-blowing results. And the video stabilization modes are excellent. Cinematic Pan, which combines slow motion with super smooth movement, is especially fun.
Also, just like every other “a” model Pixel, this one has a headphone jack. All I can say is: That’s great, now please bring the headphone jack back to flagship phones. I know I’m not the only person clamoring for it. And it drives me nuts that the only way to get an old-school 3.5mm jack on my phone is to go down market.
Terrence O'Brien / Engadget
One last thing to mention: The actual full name of the phone is the Pixel 5a with 5G. So, guess what, it supports 5G connectivity. That’s not really surprising since the Snapdragon 765G has an integrated 5G modem. Unlike the Pixel 4a 5G, however, there is no mmWave variant of the 5a. And, although technically it’s capable of C-Band support, it’s currently not enabled and Google wouldn’t commit to adding support in the future. That’s not a huge deal at the moment since there are no active C-Band networks in the US yet. But it might irk some when AT&T and Verizon start flipping the switch, likely sometime later this year. That said, full C-Band rollout isn’t expected to happen until at least late 2023.
Those caveats out of the way, 5G still seems stuck in a state of arrested development. I tested the Pixel 5a using Google Fi, which essentially means I was on T-Mobile’s network and speeds were all over the place. In my home, it was often slower than Verizon’s LTE network, averaging around 35mbps down. (Note: Verizon is Engadget’s parent company… for now.) But two and half miles up the road at a local Subaru dealership I was routinely getting over 300mbps down, topping out at 370mbps.
Terrence O'Brien / Engadget
Of course, 5G and excellent cameras aren’t a rarity at this price any more. Mid-tier phones have come a long way over the last few years. The problem for Google is, it no longer clearly “owns the midrange.” Part of that is down to price. While the 5a is $50 cheaper than the 4a 5G, it’s not the obvious bargain that the 4a was at $350. If it was even just $50 cheaper still, the 5a would be a much easier sell at $399.
The Samsung A52 5G is slightly more expensive at $500 (though regularly on sale for less) and has a slower Snapdragon 750G SoC. But, its Super AMOLED screen clearly outclasses the Pixel’s and has a 120Hz refresh rate. Plus, its camera system is much sharper and feature-packed (but that doesn’t necessarily mean “better”). In addition to a primary camera and ultra-wide shooter, there’s a macro lens and a depth sensor that helps with portrait mode. While both the A52 and 5a ship with 128GB of storage, the Samsung has an advantage in that it has a microSD card slot.
Then there’s the OnePlus Nord N2 5G. It has a trio of cameras around the back, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, and up to 12GB of RAM. Then again, it has a MediaTek processor, which you rarely see in phones in the US and with good reason: They’re not exactly known for their high-end performance. But perhaps more importantly, you’re highly unlikely to be making a choice between the Nord N2 and the Pixel 5a since the former isn’t available in the US, and the later is only available in the US and Japan.
Of course, if you’re more of an iOS fan, the obvious comparison would seem to be the iPhone SE. It’s the same price as the Pixel 5a for a 128GB model, but it does feel quite a bit dated. It still uses the old iPhone 8 form factor with a Touch ID home button instead of Face ID, it's positively miniscule at 4.7 inches and doesn’t support 5G. Frankly, if you’re dead set on iOS, I might suggest saving your pennies and springing for the $699 iPhone 12 mini.
So, no, Google doesn’t “own the midrange” any more. The Pixel 5a is almost aggressively boring, but it’s not bad. If you want the Pixel experience and don’t want to break the bank, this is the way to go. But if you’re just looking for the best bang for your buck, the choice is far less clear.

Associate Marketing
An Affiliate is a person that markets other people's items online for a compensation on the specific sale. Just as Profit Engine hurry into overdoing workouts in a fatigued state and, hence, fail in form, CrossFit instructors and also affiliates are hurrying right into establishing CrossFit health clubs and also are, hence, failing in form. Pei started his keynote with a recap of the company's success, and afterwards moved on to the first item the brand is revealing tonight - the Bullets Wireless earphones - adhered to by the OnePlus 6. The launch occasion is being held in London, where the covers will certainly be removed the phone for the first time. For instance: when I just recently released my 31 Days to Build a Much Better Blog site Workbook I additionally give individuals an opportunity to promote the workbook with an associate program whereby they might make a 40% payment for each and every sale. So if you understand the seo market and comprehend just what individuals are looking for and exactly what terms they are using to discover those items, you could be a successful affiliate; yet if the item is only discovered via generic keywords (no obvious hallmark or brand related to it), then it could be a hard sell since the larger companies will certainly manage the large majority of website traffic. This in-depth overview of the HBS MBA program consists of thorough info on Harvard's educational program and also case method of guideline, proving ground as well as experiential learning programs, university centers and student clubs. Note: reddit is full of down-voters & envious individuals, so if they find that you're sharing an amazon associate item, they could heckle you, down vote you and even report the admin but you easy getaway them if you're purely following the area guideline. There is not much info explained on the site that informs you exactly what is this money making opportunity all about, which was why I obtained extremely hesitant concerning it. Some individuals were talking about in online forums that this might be a betting system and even a Ponzi scheme. In Evan's viewpoint, if you want to grow your associate program past promo code affiliates and internet browser expansion authors, you will generate reinforcements to apply these techniques, otherwise you are at the mercy of whatever takes place in the account.

Below are some of the steps to be taken either by the mobile phone insurance policyholder or by the insurance provider that has given the cover in the event of a settlement of claims. The method can, however, vary from one business to another. These are the steps:
1. Any loss or damage to the cell phone must be promptly reported to the insurance provider providing coverage either on a toll-free number or on any other proposed customer service channels listed by the company.
2. As demanded by the insurance provider, consumers must also submit a claim form. This can be achieved either online or by visiting the insurance firm's nearest branch office.
3. The client must file a FIR with the nearest police station in the case of burglary or robbery, or make a report and receive a copy of it. In the case of cell phone loss or damaged due to a household fire, certain insurance providers often demand a report from the fire department.
4. Some insurance for phone providers may request the images to be submitted to the claims assessor of the damaged mobile phone.
5. The claims will be settled in, either way, i.e. replacement or repair of the insured mobile phone, on the basis of the policy agreement provided by the insurance provider to the individual for his or her mobile phone insurance and the insurance company's internal investigation process.
6. By directly making a payment to third party mobile repair centers approved by the insurance provider for repairs, several private insurance companies settle the claim bills.
7. Some insurance providers allow only one claim settlement per policy term, while some offer more than one claim in the year of the policy term. However, the terms of the mobile insurance policy he or she has obtained must always be reviewed.

Things to Consider Before Buying Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G
There is only one thing you should consider when buying this phone. That is fact that it heats up.
JerryRigEverything tore it apart and found out that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a multi-layered graphite thermal pad. Causing the phone to heat regardless of use.
youtube
This is where the S20 Ultra beats the Galaxy Note20 ultra. It has a copper heat pipe and vapor chamber that allows the device to cool.
Chipset /iOS
The Note 20 Ultra operates on OS Android 10,One UI 2.5
The Chipset Exynos 990 (7 nm+) Snapdragon 865 Plus has improved the overall performance. It’s its standard hardwarer the latest apps. It’s standard hardware is impressive.
Display
The design of the phone is naughty altruistically.
Samsung phones are famous for being big, and the Note 20 Ultra isn’t any different. The phone has a gorgeous screen of 6.9 inches, the device takes the perfect shape of a slab. This will make you feel as if you are using a notebook, which i guess its the whole idea behind the Note series.
Dynamic AMOLED 2X capacity touchscreen, 16M colors display is great. It sets you to enjoy your scrolling when you turn on the adaptive motion smoothness.
The resolution 1440 x 3088 pixels (~496 ppi density) is great. One thing you should know that you cant have max refresh rate at 120 and still get the maximum resolution on the screen. Though the fresh rates save on the battery life that would otherwise be consumed by the device.
The back of this smartphone has a matte finish, which looks better than a glossy finish, though its slippery than normal phones.
Both the front and the back of the phone have a Gorilla Glass Victus, which strengthens your phone and more resistance to scratch compared to normal glass being used on other phones.
JerryGigEeverything conducted a test on the phone, and he is quite impressed with it. He also found out that the device is covered with both plastic, gorrila glass and aluminum foil.
Cnet also, placed the gorilla glass under intense pressure to test its limits, turns out, it breaks. I guess glass is still glass.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has 12 GB RAM, which is enough for an android phone to perform a bunch of tasks without running out of storage. It also has a 126GB storage space. Allowing you to save up all the important content.
You can expand the storage up to 512GB using a SD card, and expense you will incur extra charges.
The processor of this phone is qualcomm snapdragon 439 Octa Core. They ensured that this flagship device is 5G enabled. This is great for those with ideas of a smart home.
Battery Capacity
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a 4500mAh High-capacity battery. You can use the screen time for up to 9 hours before you recharge it again. At night, the device is draining about 6-10% of the battery when on stand by.
You can fast charge it at 25 watts, reverse wireless charge at 4.5 watts and wireless charge your battery at 15 watts. This non-removable battery performs great for a big phone as the Note 20 ultra.
Camera
The camera owns the 20 ultra with laser autofocus. They create it in such a manner that you would think it is a Lego, yet it has a domino effect when taking photos or videos.
Everyone is raving about it’s new camera
Night Mode on the Note 20 Ultra.

12MP AI Dual Rear Camera
The ultra-wide 12 MP AI rear camera produces okay but not amazing photos, which is basically what you would get with any android ultra-wide camera.
Front AI Beauty Camera
The selfie has 10 MP with a f/2.2, 26mm, it will make the images you take look soft. Such that even without makeup, you will appear as if you have make up on. What they are trying to achieve with their phones is to make you look good. You are free to love or hate them for that!
Space Zoom camera
Good news, the telephoto has 12 MP and 5x optical lense zoom. What’s more intresting is the fact that you can have a digital zoom up-to 50X zoom.
This feature ashamed iPhone 11 Pro Max’s because they don’t come anywhere close to it. The cheaper version of this phone, Galaxy S 20 has lower zoom count and megapixels.
The Front Camera
Finally, the big camera has a triple 108 MP with an aperture of f/1.8. You will take some incredible master pieces.
The best part is the fact that it has a Samsung pixel sensor behind the lenses. The juice is right here. The company wants to differentiate itself from Google and Apple in the photography world.
Techradar tested it and concluded it is amazing
One thing is for a fact though, you will have a blast taking photos/video. Makes sense why they are selling it for ksh. 120000 in Kenya.
Colors
The phone is available in three color Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black, Mystic White. I especially love the bronze color.
Extras
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra S pen Stylus
Finally, the note lovers get to write on the best note pad invented in the technology world.
The company has improved their note app user experience. It has done things that Apple is still trying to catch up and Microsoft will never get close to. So, you can only imagine how good the note pad is.
Tomsguide said that the S pen feels better than pen and paper
You can highlight your hand writing and then copy it into plain text. You could record a meeting, then later convert it into a text file. Best part is that you can export to docs and power point and share it.
This year 2020, the S pen has been placed on the left side of the phone. making the left-handed feel more special. Whichever hand you use to write, the note pad will transform your horrible handwriting into delightful notes that is easily and understandable.
One last thing, you can now organize all of your notes into folders, taking chaos out of your note pad.

I say it’s the best, with a grain of salt
– AMAZING display, I had so many high end phones, including the IPhone 11 pro max and Google Pixel 4XL & even the note 10, but this screen here bests all of them. The high refresh rate, the beautiful colors, and the better ratio (it’s a little wider than the S20 ultra for example), all this makes for an outstanding screen.
a little that cropping a 108 MP picture didn’t yield the perfect result. The videos are even better. You won’t find a phone with a better main camera on the market.
– The S pen is pretty useful for taking notes! I didn’t feel like I needed it for anything else except, may be, for a selfie, so even though it isn’t the biggest selling point, it’s worth mentioning.
– It looks great! Yup, design wise, that phone looks really good, that it feels bad putting any covers on it. I just ordered a very slim, transparent case & I wouldn’t recommend anything else.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Price in Kenya
The Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra price in Kenya is about ksh. 12000. Is this smartphone worth the price of a hybrid cow? At ksh. 120,000, it had better be. This is one of the most expensive flagships released by brands in the year 2020.
But is it worth the premium price? My answer is yes. It is more than just a phone. If you can appreciate all that we have reviewed above, you would agree of the same thing.
Alternatives
Are looking for a less expensive smartphone. Here are three alternative you should look at that are worth your time and still on the same category:
Samsung Galaxy S20 series
Earlier we mentioned that Note 20 Ultra is competing against the Galaxy S20 series. The two devices have a lot of similar specs such as wireless charging, One UI, 120Hz OLED screen and they both have IP68 design on the phone.
The S20 is a great phone so long as you don’t care about the camera improvements made on the Note 20 Ultra and the S Pen. If you want a cutting edge experience, then consider purchasing the Note 20 Ultra.
If money is a factor to consider when buying a new device, i would recommend that you pick the S20. You will have a great device and save up on a few thousand shillings.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series
If you love the Note family and want to save money, then picking the Galaxy Note 10 is also a great option. Both the Note 10 and Note 20 Ultra have Snapdragon 865 Plus, OLED 60Hz panels, 10 MP selfie camera and a flexible front camera.
Note 10 is a relatively cheap flagship that comes with an S pen. It comes with a big battery capacity of 3,500mAh. also has a big battery capacity of 3500mAh, fast charging, and it supports wireless charging of 15 watts.
OnePlus 8 Pro
If you want to take a break from Samsung, consider the OnePlus 8 Pro. It has lots of similar features. Such as a 120Hz refresh rate, 30Watts wireless charging, Snapdragon silicon and IP68 rating.
One plus 8 Pro also has a quad main camera with 48 MP, 48 MP Ultra-wide camera, a 5MP color filter and a 8MP 3X telephoto. Pretty much of what we have seen on the Note 20 Ultra.
Verdict of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Review
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Kenya is a great phone. What makes it perfect is the minor improvements made by the company. Better low light photography, all options when shooting video, no fingerprint smudge on the back of the phone and the variable refresh rate saving on the battery.
Could Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 do better? Yes, for a flagship of 2020 costing this much, they should expand the storage they are offering from 126 GB to 256 GB. But then again, every time you buy a phone there, a trade-offs you have to make.
Would i recommend you buy this phone? The answer is both Yes and No. Buying a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or 10 would still perform a decent job and they are less expensive.
One reason why people upgrade their devices is cause the latest smartphone is super nice and flashy. But that’s not with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the phone is not classy but it is a tech bump. it has better improvements from what there is on the other note smartphones. Making it worth your time and money when you buy this phone.

OnePlus 8 review: The power of being simple
Written by Nandagopal Rajan | New Delhi | Updated: June 7, 2020 5:22:53 pm
OnePlus 8 review: OnePlus again shows that offering a flagship experience is what matters more than listing out flagship features (Express photo: Nandagopal Rajan)
OnePlus is a unique company for many reasons. For one, it makes and sells only one phone at a time – at least so far. Then, it focuses on offering the best possible features and specs at a price point, so much so that it is offering what others are at a much higher price point. It offers a frictionless experience for users by cutting down on unnecessary features, smoothening the software and staying away from gimmicks. And all of this has culminated in OnePlus becoming a dominant player in India’s premium segment.
But market dynamics are changing. For instance, OnePlus is now faced with a more aggressive Apple which has three phones that could at some level eat into this premium pie. Also, the depleted purchasing powers of buyers post the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown could mean pressure on the volumes they can sell in markets like India. Given these challenges, it would be interesting to see how the OnePlus 8 performs. Here is our review.
What is new?
The most significant aspect of the OnePlus 8, is a feature that is useless in India. This is a 5G phone, but in India we are maybe a couple of years away from getting to latch on to such a network. But being a 5G phone, the OnePlus 8 also sports the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which is best-in-class for any Android phone at the moment. Add to this the 12GB RAM and you have a beast of a phone when it comes to sheer performance.
The OnePlus 8 also future-proofs you be offering Wi-Fi 6, the latest standard which is still very rare among smartphones. The OnePlus has a triple camera set up, but what is new is the Super Macro mode.
What can make you buy the OnePlus 8?
The first thing anyone will like about the OnePlus 8 is the 90Hz Fluid Display which is really smooth. The dynamic wallpapers are a good showcase of the prowess of the display and you notice how the screen literally comes to life every time you switch on the phone. Also, it was hard to miss the fact that this phone offers one of the deepest blacks I have experiences in recent times.
The design is trademark OnePlus — minimalist and functional. The phone is thin and has a slightly sharp side panel that offers it a better grip. The front panel just has the selfie camera hidden on the top left corner, rarely interfering with what you are doing. On the back, you have the OnePlus logo, the triple camera module, and the flash all aligned in one line. And OnePlus continues with the notification toggle on the right, just above the button that lets you power off as well as summon the Google Assistant.

For me, it is the performance of the phone that stood apart. This is a phone you can buy to power a desktop if needed, it is that powerful. Play a game, try multi-tab browsing or just shoot 4K video, this phone can handle it all without any issues and not heating up. Though not much of a gamer, I am sure the graphics capabilities of this phone will have a lot of them switching over.
The Oxygen OS comes with some interesting tweaks that make life a lot easier. When you are adjusting the volume, you have the option to switch on live captions. This works with anything that has audio, though with English the accuracy is the best. While the captions do come on the screen and ruin the experience a bit, this is a very useful feature of many people. I stick to my stand that OxygenOS is a more useable version of Android because it is far more intuitive.
A triple camera set up is no longer a big deal for smartphones. So the pressure is on companies to offer in the module. OnePlus does this with a 48MP camera. But this is not the default mode and you have to switch it on before you click. But in this mode, the difference is really visible and you get details the other sensors miss out. Use this mode when you want to blow up a frame and keep just one part of it. But these images are really heavy, at about 20MB, and take a few seconds to load in the gallery. So use this mode only when you know the 12MP default will be incapable for what you want to do. The ultra wide-angle is good and offers frames without much distortion.

I also loved the Super Macro mode which can give some stunning shots in normal light. This feature is getting popular in smartphones and the OnePlus 8 now offers one of the best implementations of it. The 4K Cine mode at 60fps could make this a go-to phone for lot of creative people, especially since you have 256GB of storage of play with. The 4K Cine Mode combined with the hybrid stabilisation makes this closest you can get to a professional video camera on an Android phone.
When you shoot in Cine mode the frame gets cropped into 21:9 and you have to keep an eye out for what gets cropped out in the process.
//www.instagram.com/embed.js
If you use this phone with the battery saver mode on, the 4300 mAh battery can last up to two days on a full charge. Even if you do run out, the Warp charge can set you up for another day in just about 20 minutes or so.
What to keep in mind while buying the OnePlus 8?
In a week or so I used the phone, there were no major issues that I noticed. One thing did stand out though. When listening to something at full volume, you can actually feel the music in your hands. This can be a bit irritating but seems to be something acquired because of the thin 8mm frame of the phone.
The first thing anyone will like about the OnePlus 8 is the 90Hz Fluid Display which is really smooth. (Express photo: Nandagopal Rajan)
Who should buy the OnePlus 8 and why?
The OnePlus 8 is a no-nonsense flagship that ticks all the boxes when it comes to what users need. With this phone, OnePlus has again shown that it can keep things simple and focus on what is critical to the user.
The OnePlus 8 makes for a good upgrade for anyone on the models before the OnePlus 7 series. Also, those considering to upgrade from a budget Android to something more superior. Also, I highly recommend this for gamers and those who like to indulge in some serious photography or videography with their phones.
At the moment, this is one of the best Android smartphones you can buy. And again, OnePlus shows that you really don’t need to have a flagship price and a long list of features to offer a flagship experience.

Happiness is within reach! IPhone SE (2020)
Just a few days ago, OnePlus came up with their flagship series OnePlus 6 and 7 Pro . This series has been at the center of everyone's discussion for a few days now. However, without cutting its resh, this time the tech giant 'Apple's' attractive budget smartphone, iPhone SE (2020) has been added . In my opinion, Apple has come up with this phone to beat the Chinese mobile companies in the budget category. We saw them release their first special edition or SE in March 2017 . That phone is still used by many. So after all these years this ২0২0 came in the 4 years after the release of the Special Edition of the new smartphone Apple will do it, let's take a look at a glance.
IPhone SE Design And Build Quality
At the beginning of the discussion, let's talk about the design and build quality of this smartphone . Phone classic designs have been around to see the iPhone 8 's, like, almost the iPhone 8 to ribrandeda version. The front and back-sides are made entirely of glass and the frame is made of aluminum, with no headphone jack. On the back-side we get Apple's famous logo and single camera set-up.
The phone is IP 67 rating organizations, we know that the IP rating of the flagship grade is very important for the phone. Therefore, getting wet in the rain or taking pictures from 1 meter of water will not be a problem. At the same time, the base-variant price is only ৩ 399 , we get the wireless charging facility, and the box has a charger of only 5W . However, the phone will also support fast charging of 18W . Then 50% can be charged within 30 minutes. The phone also has a second generation Touch ID sensor.
Display
As a display we get a 4.6 inch HD + LCD panel. With a 4.6- inch and LCD display, this phone is getting less and less criticism. However, since the phone has 625 net brightness and its pixel density is 326 ppi . So hopefully users will not be so disappointed.

IPhone SE Processor
Now let's talk about a main power consumer processor. I think the main selling point of this phone will be its processor, because there are 13 bionic processors in the latest iPhone . It is a hexa-core processor built on an 8-nanometer architecture, a chipset previously used by Apple on their iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max . This is such a low budget smartphone flagship processor is really surprising, because the Snapdragon 865 processor to keep the price of the phone, Apple is more than 550 dollars so low-budget 13 Bionic chipset.
IPhone SE camera
Now we've seen the camera front sections 7 megapixel camera selaphi the aperture 22 and the rear camera can be 1 -megapixel camera with a wide-engela the aperture is 1.8 . In a word, we have the camera section just like the iPhone 10 . There’s nothing to say about the iPhone’s camera quality, because they’ve never been disappointed.
IPhone SE Battery
And getting a 1621 mAh non-removable battery as a battery is a cause of frustration for many. However, according to Apple's website, this phone can play video for up to 13 hours with full charge and audio can be played up to 40 hours. But I don't think this phone will be a good option for gaming.
IPhone SE Color
This phone will be available in three colors. White , black and red . Some of the dividends from the red phone will go to the Global Fund for Covid-19 . The iPhone ২0২0 SEO friends are 3 variants, respectively the price of 64 GB ( 399 dollars), 128 GB ( 449 dollars), 56 GB ( 549 dollars). Converting the dollar rate to Bangladeshi taka, the price seems to be much higher, but looking at the latest processor and specifications of the iPhone, it can be said that it can be used well in the following 4 years

OnePlus 7
OnePlus 7 is undoubtedly a great smartphone. Equipped with a Snapdragon 855, up to 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of non-expandable memory and a 6.41-inch OLED in FHD +. Sounds good.
OnePlus 7: Everything in it
In the white-red packaging from the manufacturer, you can still find a red USB Type-C cable, a charger with 30 watts and various instructions, an opener for the SIM-card slot and a clear case of high quality next to the smartphone. Headphones or an adapter from 3.5 jack to USB Type-C can not be found, unfortunately. OnePlus would like to sell its own USB headphones.
OnePlus 7 Design: same procedure as every year?
At first glance, OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 are very similar. The front side is again occupied by the almost borderless display. The screen offers - unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro - a Notch for the 16-megapixel front camera. The back is also made of frosted glass and does not look as shiny as the "big" brother. At the time of the test, unfortunately, there was only the color "Mirror Gray", in China and India it is also available in red and soon even in " Mirror Blue ". With dimensions of 157.7 mm x 74.8 mm x 8.2 mm, it is significantly smaller than the OnePlus 7 Pro (162.6 × 75.9 × 8.8mm). The dimensions are more similar to those of the OnePlus 6T. Also, the weight of 182 grams is similar (high). In the arrangement of the keys, nothing has changed. On the right side you will find an on / off switch and the Alert Slider, with the help of which I can easily put my OnePlus 7 into a "Do Not Disturb" mode. On the left side of the frame is the volume button. The bottom is taken up by the USB Type C input based on USB 3.1 as well as one of the two speakers. However, a headphone jack with 3.5 mm is not available and the case is also not IP6X certified. The manufacturer has nevertheless installed protective rubber seals on the openings. It is supposed to endure a rain shower. The processing of the OnePlus 7 is without blemish, visually but rather uniformity.
OnePlus 7: technical details
OnePlus (consciously) no longer calls its new smartphone a "flagship killer". Technically, it is still up to date and can easily compete with the competition. But not more. In addition to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with Adreno 640 GPU, UFS 3.0 flash memory (128/256 gigabytes) and 6/8 GB of memory (LPDDR4X-RAM) is the 7er only a dual camera with 48 & 5 megapixels with OIS to Commitment. In summary, this means: Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (1x 2.84 GHz, Cryo + 3x 2.42 GHz, Cryo + 4x 1.80 GHz, Kyro)RAM: 6 GB - 8 GBBuilt-in memory: 128 or 256 GBDisplay: 6.41 inches AMOLED with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and 60 HzInterfaces: LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, GPS (GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo), USB Type-C, Dual nanoSIMBattery: 3,700 mAhCamera resolution: 16 MP - Selfie camera (aperture f / 2.0), 48 (aperture F / 1.7) + 5 MPVideos: 4K (up to 60 fps), Full HD 1080p (up to 240 fps)
OnePlus 7: 6,41 inch AMOLED display
The 6.41-inch, almost borderless AMOLED display of the OnePlus 7 dissolves in FHD + (1,080 x 2,340 pixels). The display supports the playback of different color profiles (sRGB, display P3) and offers me numerous options for color calibration. Everyone should find their individual attitude. The color representation and also the contrast are of very high quality. This also applies to the maximum brightness. Overall, the screen of the OnePlus 7 makes a good impression on me. Incidentally, the panel is protected by 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass. Of course, the manufacturer has again thought of a reading mode with reduced blue, a night mode with lower brightness and a "video enhancer" for stronger colors when watching movies.
OnePlus 7 and the two cameras
Well, purely arithmetically, the OnePlus 7 yes three cameras: In addition to the 48-megapixel sensor (Sony's IMX586, aperture f / 1.7) with optical and electronic image stabilization can be found on the back of a telephoto zoom camera with 5 megapixels and a diaphragm f / 2.4. Which is responsible for the double zoom. The notch on the front hides the front camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels. In terms of image quality, the main camera delivers good quality. In daylight, the colors look natural, contrast and details are right. The software-generated bokeh effect works well, but it can not tear me from the famous stool. The OnePlus 7 records videos in 4K at up to 60 frames per second. In contrast to the Huawei P30 Pro, I can convince both the video and the sound quality here. A timelapse and slow-motion mode (in Full HD with 240 fps and in HD with 480 fps) complete my good impression. Although the 16-megapixel front camera does not have an optical image stabilizer, it still takes good pictures. The sometimes very artificial beauty mode with the possibility for facial and body optimization is available for free.
OxygenOS 9: Very fast, very clean
The OxygenOS is definitely one of the fastest and slimmest user interfaces on the market. Visually, it is strongly based on Google's Stock Android, but also offers a few personalization options and a dark fashion. The built-in Zen mode, a kind of digital wellbeing, is activated manually via the quick settings, or automatically after continuous use of two hours. If you use it then (is, of course, voluntary), the smartphone is locked for 20 minutes. Now I can only make emergency calls, accept calls and use the camera. The mode can not even be deactivated by a smartphone restart. New is also a screen recorder, with the help of which I can record the content of my screen in Full HD resolution inclusive audio.
Connectivity, battery, performance: Everything at its finest
The OnePlus 7 offers LTE after Cat. 16 and supports Wi-Fi in all available standards. Likewise, Bluetooth 5, GPS and NFC are on board. Instead of an extension via MicroSD, you get "only" support for dual-SIM. The smartphone comes so with two Nano-SIM cards at the same time (also by LTE) clearly. The transmission and reception performance was at a good level, as there were no significant problems. The call quality was great. The two speakers sound not overly loud, for one or the other song about Spotify and Co. or the conversations with the loved ones, but the sound is more than adequate, also thanks to Dolby Atmos ®, The built into the display glass fingerprint sensor responded quickly and reliably in the test. The 3,700-milliamp-hour battery of the 7 Pro is comparable in terms of runtime with the Huawei p30 Pro. In normal use, I come with a battery charge easily throughout the day. One and a half days is also no problem. But I did not make it for two whole days. The wireless charging is not possible, but I can inflate the battery over the in-house Warp Charge solution with up to 30 watts. I reach 50 percent battery capacity in less than 20 minutes without the device noticeably warming up. There are no surprises in the performance thanks to the Snapdragon 855, 6 GB of RAM and a fast GPU. In the current Geekbench 4, the SoC gets 3,527 points in the single-core and 11,154 in the multi-core.

I consistently recommend smartphones from a company that few in the US have ever heard of over Apple’s iPhones or Samsung’s Galaxy phones — this is why, Defence Online

I recommend OnePlus phones more than I do Apple or Samsung phones. Here’s the OnePlus 6 from early 2018.

Despite having access to numerous expensive flagship smartphones, like those from Apple and Samsung, my SIM card usually ends up in phones from a little known smartphone maker to the US – OnePlus.
OnePlus phones have consistently prove to be excellent devices for nearly half the price of their competitors.
They’re popular around the world, but not so in the US because Americans typically buy their phones from carriers, which don’t feature OnePlus phones.
Check out why I recommend OnePlus phones to friends and family before recommending Apple’s iPhones or Samsung’s Galaxy S phones.
Visit Defence Online’s homepage for more stories.
For months, I’ve been placing smartphones from OnePlus ahead of the likes of Apple and Samsung in my top 20 smartphones list, and I thought it was time to elaborate on why.
You may be thinking, “Shouldn’t mega-phones from the biggest names in tech get the top spot on the list?” No! Not at all! Apple and Samsung are just names to me. What matters most are the phones themselves and what they propose for their price tags.
And at the end of the day, it’s always OnePlus phones that come out on top.
OnePlus phones aren’t that well known in the US because they’re not typically sold in carrier stores, which happens to be where most Americans buy their smartphones (usually, people in the US will have to buy OnePlus phones from the company’s website). But hopefully, more Americans will get to see that OnePlus phones actually exist, since now you can find them in T-Mobile stores.
Here’s what makes OnePlus phones so great:
OnePlus phones are much cheaper than other flagships from Samsung, LG, and Apple. Some may take that as a bad sign, but it’s not bad at all.

OnePlus has marketed its phones as “flagship killers,” and unlike other catchy marketing phrases, the company’s claim actually holds water.
OnePlus phones are typically hundreds of dollars less than the competition while sporting the same or similar specs, performance, and premium design.
Despite their lower price tags, OnePlus phones run on the same chips as the more expensive devices.

Each OnePlus phone so far has included the top mobile chip of any given year – the same chip used in more expensive flagship phones.
OnePlus phones even outperform most of the more expensive models.

While testing and actively using OnePlus phones, I’ve found they perform as well or better than most high-end Android flagships. That can partly be attributed to the extra RAM that OnePlus phones have compared to most other smartphones. It’s only recently that phones from Samsung have started to catch up with OnePlus, a comparatively tiny smartphone maker.
RAM is a type of memory that stores apps you’ve recently opened, and it lets you return to that app without the app having to open from scratch. The more RAM a device has, the more things you’ve recently done on your phone it can store.
As a result, switching between apps and swiping around OnePlus devices feels fast and fluid, sometimes even more so than more expensive flagships.
OnePlus phones are beautifully designed.

OnePlus phones, especially the OnePlus 3 and those that came after it, have always been graced with beautiful designs made out of premium materials, including metal and glass.
When you hold a OnePlus phone, it’s hard to imagine that it costs hundreds less than the competition.
They also run on a clean and simple version of Android that’s not cluttered with extra “stuff.”

There’s very little bloatware on OnePlus devices, apart from a couple of the company’s own apps. There aren’t duplicate versions of Google’s own apps, too, which are still too common in many Android flagships. And you won’t find the awful apps that carriers force onto the devices they sell, either, because OnePlus phones haven’t typically been sold in carrier stores.
The company only started selling its phones with T-Mobile in 2018, starting with the OnePlus 6T. Even then, the OnePlus 6T phones you can buy from T-Mobile only come with a couple T-Mobile apps that aren’t offensive.
OnePlus phones might not come with some of the features you’d find on more expensive flagships, but it’s worth thinking to yourself if you really need those features.

So far, OnePlus hasn’t adopted certain features like wireless charging, nor has it obtained an official “IP” water-resistance rating.
For wireless charging, the company said it didn’t get enough feedback from its community to add the feature.
And as for obtaining an official IP rating, it costs money get the certification, which the company chooses not to invest in. As a result, it can pass down the savings to its customers, too. Still, the company says its phones are resistant to splashes and light water contact.
Whether or not these features matter enough is totally up to you. And if they do matter, I’d also consider the extra few hundred dollars you’d be spending on other Android devices to have access to those features.
OnePlus does have two things that other Android flagships don’t.

OnePlus phones are the only Android smartphones that come with an iPhone-style silent switch, making it easy to quickly switch the phone to silent and vibrate-only.
OnePlus phones also come with their own charging brick technology that keeps the heat that usually comes with charging in the brick itself. That way, OnePlus phones don’t slow down their charging speeds while you’re using them, which most phones need to do to prevent overheating.
OnePlus cameras weren’t always fantastic, but the company has clearly made big strides in recent models.

OnePlus’s earlier models didn’t impress too much on the camera front, but the recent few models have.
In fact, I recently took the OnePlus 6T on vacation and compared photos I took with the Pixel 3 XL, and dare I say it, the OnePlus 6T took better photos. For those who may not be aware, the Pixel 3 phones are often touted as having the best cameras on smartphones.
The main thing where OnePlus can improve is updates, especially with older devices. But very few Android phone makers have this right.

OnePlus does a pretty good job of updating its devices with the latest version of Android. Older devices like the OnePlus 3 and 3T from 2016 have still yet to get the latest version of Android, but the same can be said about most older models from most Android phone makers.
OnePlus is also pretty decent at delivering security updates to its more recent devices, but older devices aren’t as well supported. Again, the same goes for most Android devices.
The only Android smartphones that get the latest versions of Android and security updates are Google’s own Pixel phones and the Essential Phone. The Essential Phone was a great phone a few years back, but the company has stopped making smartphones.
All in all, OnePlus phones have been delivering the best of expensive flagship devices for almost half the price, and they’re simply unbeatable value.

Due to my job, I receive nearly all the latest flagship smartphones for review and coverage. And yet, despite having access to expensive flagships that I can use at will, I tend to keep my SIM card in OnePlus smartphones for my daily drivers.
I love the way they work, I love the way they’re designed, and I love that the company doesn’t add specs and features for the sake of adding them. Wrap all of that neatly with a tidy, reasonable price tag, and you have yourself a clear winner, in my mind. If I were to buy a smartphone with my own money today, it would absolutely be a OnePlus.
The new OnePlus 7 is set to be announced on May 14, and it’ll be worth keeping tabs on the new device to see if it can make your shortlist.

How OnePlus won smartphone market
BENGALURU: When OnePlus launched its first mobile phone nearly five years ago, its main target market was the US and Europe. India was nowhere in its radar. The Chinese company wanted to be an online brand and operate in the premium smartphone market. But in India at the time, e-commerce was in a nascent stage, and the premium phone pie was small.
What happened soon after surprised company executives. “Within five months we noticed that a lot of users from India were buying the phone on Amazon’s global website using an US address, and then auto forwarding it to India through Aramex, a Dubai-based logistics company. They were undeterred by the customs duty, which could increase the cost by Rs 5,000,” recalls Vikas Agarwal, general manager for OnePlus in India.
A closer monitoring of website traffic trends showed that India was among the top seven countries in sales, though the company was not selling in India. “That’s when we decided to launch here,” says Agarwal, who was the first employee for OnePlus in India when he joined in October 2014. The first set of phones were introduced in December that year.
Four years hence, India is OnePlus’s single largest market, accounting for 33%, or $466 million, of the company’s total revenue of $1.4 billion in 2017. China is the second biggest market, while Europe and America make up the rest. In the last few quarters, OnePlus has also become the biggest premium smartphone (those above Rs 30,000) player in India, overtaking Samsung and Apple.
And all of this has come from just one new product that it launches every year.
“What has clicked is the positioning, the focus on the premium segment. They were at the right place at the right time. When they entered, the premium market was just 1-2%, which has now grown to 5-6%. With their strategy of one device per year, and attractive pricing, they positioned the brand really well,” Tarun Pathak, associate director at Counterpoint Research, said.
What has worked most for the company is the pricing. In this extremely price-sensitive market, OnePlus is seen as great value for money. Its 6T model sells for about Rs 38,000 on Amazon, significantly lower than Samsung’s Galaxy S9 at Rs 61,000 and Apple’s iPhone X at about Rs 85,000.
Pathak says the features in premium segment smartphones such as full-screen displays, biometric security, dual-cameras, faster processors and support for artificial intelligence, have acted as catalysts for consumers looking to upgrade from mid-segment smartphones. Another strategy that has worked well for the Shenzen-based company is the word of mouth it gets, and its social media strategy to target a new consumer base.
Not only are loyal OnePlus consumers upgrading, but the company is also attracting customers who previously used an Apple or a Samsung phone. “Out of the new purchases, we have seen about 20% people from Samsung and close to 17% from Apple. This movement has started to scale now,” says Agarwal.
Pete Lau, founder and chief executive of OnePlus, says the secret sauce to the company’s success in India is “our total focus on products.” He believes the global approach of only one phone per year is the way forward as “only with that approach can we make the best product possible.”
“In Chinese, they say that if you are fighting a giant, the best approach is to put all your strengths in one single point of attack. Only then will one have the highest chance of creating success,” Lau told TOI, adding that the culture of listening closely to the voices of its user community to understand their expectations has also helped.
Lau had started working in China’s Oppo Electronics as a hardware engineer. He rose to be vice president in the mobile company. In 2013, he started OnePlus.
Lau is obsessed with design, a big factor in OnePlus’s attractiveness. “I can talk about design all night, it’s in my heart, as a product manager. I will spend months working on 0.01mm differences in the back curve or in the bottom slope of the device,” he said.
Counterpoint’s Pathak agrees, but also has a word of caution for the company: Don’t get carried away or head butt into a new price segment; that could dilute the brand. Lau does not think it will happen anytime soon. “We are focused on creating a design that does not become uninteresting within weeks or months.”

You will be able to buy the OnePlus 6T in Thunder Purple later this week
OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant will be available November 15 in Europe and North America.
OnePlus previously announced the Thunder Purple color for China.
The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Even though OnePlus already announced the OnePlus 6T in Thunder Purple for China, it was only a matter of time until other regions got a taste of the new color. Right on cue, OnePlus announced that the Thunder Purple color will make its way to Europe and North America.
What’s nice about Thunder Purple is the way it goes from this pinkish hue at the bottom to a darker hue at the top. The images also give the impression that the Thunder Purple color takes on a dramatic purple color at certain angles, though we will have to see the effect for ourselves. Regardless, the Thunder Purple color chic and isn’t overly garish.
Those that picked up the OnePlus 6T in Mirror Black or Midnight Black at launch might feel slightly disappointed by the news, though. In less than a week, a new variant is here that they didn’t have an opportunity to buy and that OnePlus hadn’t officially discussed.
Then again, OnePlus typically releases its smartphones in several colors after their launches, so a new color variant at some point should have been expected.

OnePlus 6T review: Fundamentally great
The OnePlus 6 is one of my favorite Android phones ever. The hardware is simple and streamlined, providing a blank slate for its incredible software. The OnePlus 6 nails the fundamentals first, before adding complexity …
Apart from the new color, everything about the Thunder Purple OnePlus 6T is the same as the other color variants. That means a 6.4-inch display with 2,340 x 1,080 resolution, teardrop notch, dual 16- and 20-megapixel cameras, Snapdragon 845 processor, 3,700mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie out of the box.
You can pick up the Thunder Purple OnePlus 6T with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage starting this Thursday, November 15 for $579. European pricing is unknown at the time of this writing, though we should expect it to sell for 529 pounds in the U.K. and 569 euros for the rest of Europe.
This looks to be a limited edition color, so you might want to scoop one up soon if you want the best affordable Android flagship on the market.
