Saturday Six (Stuff) Christmas Eve Edition

It's a good time when you come home to find your bathtub without hot water. Just the tub. Everything is good now, but the mess still needs cleaning up.(;¬_¬)

The present I ordered for myself got delivered yesterday but no one was there to sign for it. Hopefully I can pick it up today.ヾ(*´ー`)ノ

The Dude ordered a present for me in November, and it turns out they were a bit shady, so he's basically out the money he spent. I've told him to contact the fraud department of our bank. Hopefully they can refund his money.（＾～＾）

Socks, our older male cat, has a cold and needs to take antibiotics. I've been pairing it with cat treats, so now he just downs the pill like a champ as if it's a treat. I swear sometimes I think this cat is a dog in cat clothing...（=´∇｀=）

I understand why people on Tiktok probably film their cats when they're being active. I could watch my cats all day.(=^-ω-^=)

Listen I haven’t written fanfiction in forever but what if I wrote a story about the eighth princess of Timberain and the royal gardener in Octopath Traveler II...

After rebloggling countless gifs I am basically almost done with His Dark Materials s1, and I wanted to write down some quick thoughts (years late I know I know)

It's overall a really well crafted series: it keeps the pace well, the characters are endearing, the writing is solid, and dear Lord the scene when they try to put Lyra into the machine gave me shivers.

I am also really interested in what they are doing with Marisa, with all this hidden ferocity and self hate and almost monkey like mannerisms, which are not a T to the book but work really well imo. And Lin Manuel Miranda is surprisingly not too distracting (usually. Oh Lee my darling).

Already including Will in S1 was a genius stroke of the adaptation process. While it does diminish a little the moment of "oh fuck there are other worlds" in the book, I feel like it's much better in terms of pacing to introduce him in s1, so that the TV only audiences won't be immediately turned off by a sudden setting change in s2. Also Will is. So. Good so far! Loves his mum and is angry and he's patient and gosh, this kid.

CGI is also usually very good, but here I begin with the nitpicking: really not enough attention is devoted to the daemons, so you really don't get how essential they are to the concept of personhood and how unsettling it is to see someone without them (that said that scene with the caged daemon repeatedly hitting their head against the cage was so heartbreaking). Also not enough attention is given to the taboo, like, that doctor sexually assaulted Lyra and Pan, but you wouldn't get it without knowing the books (and in fact I had to explain it to my boyfriend who hasn't read the books and was confused on why Pan clearly wasn't expecting to be grabbed).

My second problem with the series so far is Lyra herself - the actress is magnificent, don't get me wrong, she does amazing with what she has, but I feel like the show is really trying to make her as likeable as possible, and in particular tones down the lying quite a lot. Which, I feel like such a big part of Lyra's character is that she is this wild, selfish, lying little girl, that she is brave and impulsive and courageous and mischievous and well - everything really. The show really gets her positive sides to shine, but not the negative sides so much, and I feel like this diminishes her.

So far I am overall satisfied with it as an adaptation and loving it as a show.

Next episode is the Lyra - Iofur showdown and I can't wait to have time to watch it.

These books were so important to me as a teen, it's such a joyous experience to relive them like this <3

I have a question that I hope doesn’t come off as rude I’m just trying to understand. You said the stepmom au is flopping and is that because of no reblogs or kudos but you get lots of asks for it? Because I agree it’s ungrateful to ask for things and not give feedback when you’re doing all this in between your 500 movies. I’m also not sure if you want us reblogging this pairing because of the obnoxious “it’s not canon” haters or was that just in the beginning and they’re quieter now so you like us reblogging or don’t mind it?

I mean like, yeah, I'm getting tons of asks for it but I don't think any of the posts has even broken double digits on the notes so is it like...the same person sending all these anonymous asks? Lmao. Cuz I can't see how it's multiple people since it's flopping this hard 😂 CFAU could comfortably get hundreds of notes every time I'd post a prompt . Frat AU was still kinda flopping but like...at least breaking double digits. A lot of those prompts have like 80-90 notes. This is like...5-7 notes if that. So like...at this point I'm writing it for myself cuz I'm thinking about it anyway since I've been thinking about it for months even though I haven't been here/posting it so 🤷🏽‍♀️ it makes no difference I guess??? I'd be putting the brain power into it anyway. Idk. I'm not like groveling for it. It's kinda just a little funny to me cuz I just need to remember not everything is CFAU. It's more self deprecating than not.

And nah...I've never cared about rebloggling. Writers love reblog. Those people can scream into the void.

Launchpad is socially awkward, withdrawn and book-smart, Dispatch is outspoken, kind of a hot-head and likes to brawl.

They function as the medic (Launchpad) and tank (Dispatch) of their team. Their system is harmonious overall, with both seeing themselves like brothers, who just happen to share a body.

just a quick vent update; i can’t watch the debate on cpac because it won’t load for me, and will only play in 10 second stints and i can’t process information that way. and i finished watching the anime I was watching and I’m supposed to get surgery on my foot on the 25th i think (it might’ve been 24th i don’t remember) and i am ready to have it done, but i’m not prepared for the recovery at all. and i’m getting so emotional over everything that i’m self harming.
