Rebels Wolffe x Reader
Summary: Wolffe x Medic!Reader set post-Order 66 during the Rebels era. Listened to the song “somewhere only we know” by Keane and made me think of old man Wolffe.
The sky of Seelos burned orange as another sun dipped beneath the jagged horizon. The Ghost had landed hours ago, stirring the sand, dust, and old ghosts from their resting places.
You stood at the edge of the clearing, arms crossed, scanning the ramshackle AT-TE turned-home ahead. Your breath caught when you saw him—helmet under one arm, same eye scar, same heavy gait. But time had added weight to his shoulders and silver to his hair.
Wolffe.
He hadn’t seen you yet. Or maybe he had and just didn’t believe it. You smiled.
“Well, kark me,” you called, stepping forward, “either I’m dreaming or the years have not been kind to you, old man.”
He froze mid-step. His one eye widened, flickering with something too raw to be masked. His voice was gravel when he finally spoke.
“Medic?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Still calling me that after all this time? Not even a ‘hey, great to see you, thought you were dead’?”
He dropped his helmet, closing the distance in long, heavy steps. You didn’t realize you were trembling until he reached you—until his gloved hand gently took your arm like he wasn’t sure if you’d disappear.
“You left,” he said. Not accusing. Just fact.
“So did you,” you whispered. “War ended. Republic died. So many of us died with it.”
A moment passed where neither of you breathed. The wind whistled over cracked metal and dry earth. The sun dipped a little lower.
Wolffe’s eye searched your face like it had answers to questions he never dared to ask. “Why now?” he said. “Why here?”
You glanced back toward the Ghost, where Sabine and Zeb were offloading supplies, Hera and Kanan deep in discussion. “I’m with them now. The Ghost crew. Ezra brought us out here. Said there were… good men worth finding.”
Wolffe looked away. “Not sure that’s true anymore.”
You touched his cheek—scarred, weathered, familiar. “Still wearing your guilt like a second set of armor, huh?”
“Maybe.”
“I remember when you used to smile,” you murmured. “Used to fight like hell, patch your brothers up, then sit with me under stars on Ryloth like the war wasn’t chewing us to pieces.”
His silence was heavy, but he didn’t pull away. Just watched you with that quiet intensity he always had.
“I’ve thought about you,” you said. “Over the years. Wondered if you made it. Wondered if you found peace somewhere.”
“This is the closest I got,” he said, glancing back at the AT-TE. “It’s not much.”
“It’s something,” you offered. “Somewhere only we know.”
A tired smirk tugged at his lips. “Still quoting that old song you used to hum in the medbay?”
You shrugged. “Catchy. And depressing. Fit the vibe.”
He chuckled—actually chuckled. It was a rare sound, worn and dry but still alive. “You really haven’t changed.”
You leaned in, nudging his shoulder. “You have. More lines. More grump. Less hair.”
“I shaved it.”
“Sure, sure. That’s what they all say.”
He shook his head, muttering a fond “damn smartass” under his breath.
The sun was nearly gone now, and the stars began to appear, faint and blinking like the ghosts of all you’d lost.
You stepped closer, chest brushing his armor. “You think we could find that peace again?” you asked, soft. “Maybe not like before, but… something close?”
He didn’t answer right away. But his hand found yours—calloused, warm, grounding.
“Stay a while,” he said. “Just… stay.”
You squeezed his hand.
“For now,” you said. “I’ll stay.”
And under a Seelos sky, two remnants of a broken galaxy found the smallest sliver of something whole. A memory made real. A place only you two remembered.
Somewhere only you knew.

Fic: A man is not dead while his name is still spoken
1,707 words. Set during Rebels, ft. Captain Rex.
A short story, because I refuse to believe that the clones' story - their mistreatment, abuse, betrayal - was allowed to fade into obscurity, until all that was left was three old men hiding out on Seelos. AO3 link here.
Kallus was waiting for them when the Ghost touched down on Yavin IV.
Or rather, waiting for Rex.
“Mothma and Organa are waiting for you, Conference room four,” Kallus muttered to him, as the rest of the squad began off-boarding procedures and checks.
What for?” Hera demanded. Ever the protector “Rex, you need me to come with?”
But Rex waved her off, running a hand over his bald head. “No, it’s alright,” he sighed. “I think I know what it’s about.”
It’s not like it was a secret. The news had even reached the Outer Rim by now. A scandal like this, news travels fast.
But not many people would know what it means to Rex. Organa was perhaps one of the last few to understand.
As the door slid open to the conference room, Mon Mothma and Bail Organa turned to face Rex with a sorrowful expression he’d become far too familiar with over his long years (metaphorically speaking). He hated it. “Senators,” he greeted.
Bail, only there as a full-sized hologram, smiled at him. “Rex, it’s good to see you,” Bail said, in a gentle tone that only served to put Rex more on edge. He didn’t want to have this conversation.
So he cut straight to the point. “I’ve already heard,” he said, perhaps a bit sharper than intended. “They’re playing it on the news in every port. Riyo – Senator Chuchi’s death. What happened?”
“As far as the public is aware, she died of a heart-attack following a particularly stressful debate in the Senate,” Mon Mothma said. “But, there is cause to suspect foul play was involved.”
Rex nodded. “Of course there is. Can we prove it?”
“It’s unlikely,” Bail said. “The press report was issued by Palpatine’s own office, they won’t allow an autopsy to reveal anything, and any dissidents – I’m sorry, Rex. With Riyo’s death, it’s clearer than ever that we are losing our grip in the Senate.”
For most of his life, Rex’s face had been hidden under his bucket, emotions indecipherable. He still hadn’t quite got the hang of schooling his expression. He took a deep breath, and forced his scowl to fade. It wasn’t their fault. Stars knew Bail did all he could. “I see. I… thank you, for thinking of me.”
“Of course,” Bail said, quickly, one translucent hand reaching forward as if the hologram could comfort him. “I know how close you and Riyo were, in the early days.”
“But, Captain, there is something else,” Mon Mothma cut in.
Intrigued against his better judgement, Rex glanced between the two of them. Bail was no longer quite meeting his gaze, and Mon Mothma had clasped her hands behind her back in that way she did before starting an important speech. “Oh?” Rex asked, hesitant.
“Riyo was a vocal component of our campaigning,” Mon Mothma said. “The most vital spokesperson in the senate, in fact. With her gone, we have, as Bail said, lost our hold in the Senate, and any hope we had of passing de-escalation, de-militarisation, and reparation bills has dropped significantly. In fact, we’re taking steps to withdraw key figures to positions of safety.”
“Including myself,” Bail cut in, with a wry smile. “I will be returning to Alderaan on a more permanent basis.”
“And, unfortunately, it means we’re having to abandon some of our current campaigns, even some of our most long-running ones.” Mon Mothma hesitated again. “Including Senator Chuchi’s Clone Rights bill.”
Rex almost laughed. Was this what they were so concerned about? For all Riyo’s efforts, that bill had died a slow and painful death years ago. “I understand, Senator,” he said, hoping Mon Mothma hadn’t yet spent enough time around soldiers to pick up the ‘no shit sir’ undertone.
But Bail raised a hand, as if to ask Rex to wait a moment. “We aren’t happy with this,” he said. “I, personally, cannot allow Riyo’s work to be dismissed so easily, not when she has probably lost her life because of how much she cared. So we were hoping you would help us take this case to an even more ruthless court.”
Rex frowned at him. What other court? All there was, was the Empire. And it wasn’t like the Rebellion had anywhere near enough funds to provide the pensions Riyo had promised.
Bail smiled. “The court of public opinion,” he clarified.
Mon Mothma took over, as if practiced. “We want to share the clone’s story,” she said. “Your story. It is, perhaps, one of the clearest examples of how underhand, how manipulative, how immoral the Empire and Palpatine himself are. It shows how everyone has been played for fools since before the war even started,” she said, passionate, and Rex remembered that Mon Mothma had been a Separatist. “It shows how none of us had a choice, how so many of us died for nothing. You and your brothers most of all. If you – and any of your brothers – would be able to share your story, it could make a huge impact on how the Empire is perceived. It could sway a lot of people.”
Rex took another steadying breath.
She wasn’t wrong.
“My brothers and I,” Rex said, slowly, parsing through his thoughts as he spoke, “Have spent a long time fighting to get out of the eye of the Empire. They gave us their attention once. It wasn’t good.”
Very few people knew the full truth of what the clones has lost, following Order 66. Mon Mothma and Bail at least knew enough to flinch at Rex’s harsh understatement.
“We understand,” Bail said. “I don’t expect you to come to a decision quickly. Take the time you need.”
“But don’t wait too long, Captain,” Mon Mothma said. “The Empire will make everyone forget Riyo Chuchi soon enough.”
Rex stared at her, unsure whether to resent her callousness, or admire the cold practicality. A solider through-and-through, he was leaning towards the latter.
He didn’t say anything else. He couldn’t, thoughts too full of his history, the chance to share it, and Riyo.
Falling back on muscle memory, he saluted, about-turned, and walked from the room.
**
It was Zeb who found him later. “You’re moping,” he said, nudging Rex to shuffle along the crate he was sat on and make room.
Rex sighed. “I’m old. I’ve seen a lot of shit. Sometimes, it requires moping. I’ve earned a good mope every now and then.”
Zeb chuckled. “Yeah, but no one’s allowed to mope alone. Hera’s orders.”
“I’ll be fine Zeb.”
“I know that. Want to take it up with Hera?”
Rex smiled – for a couple of seconds.
Zeb let him sit a silence for a good long while, the lasat instead paying attention to the bowl of food he’d brought with him. Rice dish, a concerning shade of red.
Most of the food was gone before Zeb spoke again. “You want to talk about it?” he asked, through a full mouth.
An easy dismissal sat on tip of Rex’s tongue, but he hesitated. Bail had said he understood, and he might have meant it with all the genuine goodwill in the galaxy, but he didn’t. He couldn’t.
Rex hesitated, before asking, “If you could tell everyone what happened on Lasan – the massacre, the ion disruptor rifles, how you’ve been persecuted and hunted since – would you do it?”
“Yes,” Zeb said, without hesitation, with an air of finality, and through another full mouth.
“Even if you knew it would put a high-priority target on the back of every lasat who survived?”
Zeb’s fork paused halfway to his mouth. He hesitated, then lowered it back to the bowl, swallowing his current mouthful loudly. “Alright,” he said, voice carefully measured, “that’s a bit of a problem, I’ll give you that. Is this a theoretical exercise?”
Rex shrugged. “Not exactly.”
Zeb fell silent again, food abandoned. “I think,” Zeb said, eventually, “that telling the truth is as much about stopping it happening to other planets, other cultures, as much as it’s about getting justice for me an’ mine. I think any lasat who lives is already suffering enough that another target ain’t gonna make that much of a difference. I think any lasat who’s survived this long, can take care of themselves. And I think I’d owe it to all who came before to have their death mean something, not just to me, but to anyone else who’d listen.”
Having said his piece, Zeb took another mouthful of rice and kept eating.
A few more bites in silence later, Zeb swallowed and asked, “Did that help?”
“Yeah,” Rex said. “Yeah, that helped.”
“Good. Now let’s go get you fed, before Hera hunts us down and skins me for wilful neglect of an elder.”
**
Rex went to Mon Mothma’s office early the next morning.
“I can’t promise you anything,” he said, before she could speak, “I can’t even say how many I’ll be able to contact, let alone how many will agree to it. But I’m going to need a bunch of brand-new encrypted channels, and a really long-range transmitter.”

“I am CT-7567, Captain Rex of the 501st Legion, CO of Torrent Company.”
“CC-36 36, Commander Wolffe of the 104th Wolfpack Battalion.”
“CT-9901, or Sergeant Hunter, CO of Clone Force 99.”
“I am ARC Trooper Echo, formally of the 501st and Clone Force 99.”
“I served as Sergeant Hound in the Coruscant Guard, this is Grizzer.”
“Commander Bly, CC-5052, of the 327th Star Corps, serving under General Aayla Secura.”
“I am CC-2224, Marshal Commander Cody of the 7th Sky Corps, CO of the 212th Attack Battalion, and Second in Command of the Third Systems Army under General Kenobi.”
“You probably think you know all you need to about us. I doubt many of you look at us favourably, these days, if you see any of us at all. You probably think we were loyal soldiers of the Republic, soldiers of the Empire. Some of you might think we were traitors to the Republic cause, who assisted with the Empire’s takeover of the galaxy. Some of you might even think we betrayed the jedi – and I can’t fault you for that.
“But, here’s some things about us you might not know…”

Thursday, Twenty Sixth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Nehemiah 8:1-4a, 5-6, 7b-12 Ezra opened the book of the law, blessed the Lord, and all the people answered, Amen! Amen!
The whole people gathered as one in the open space before the Water Gate, and they called upon Ezra the scribe to bring forth the book of the law of Moses which the LORD prescribed for Israel. On the first day of the seventh month, therefore, Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, which consisted of men, women, and those children old enough to understand. Standing at one end of the open place that was before the Water Gate, he read out of the book from daybreak until midday, in the presence of the men, the women, and those children old enough to understand; and all the people listened attentively to the book of the law. Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. He opened the scroll so that all the people might see it (for he was standing higher up than any of the people); and, as he opened it, all the people rose. Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people, their hands raised high, answered, “Amen, amen!” Then they bowed down and prostrated themselves before the LORD, their faces to the ground. As the people remained in their places, Ezra read plainly from the book of the law of God, interpreting it so that all could understand what was read. Then Nehemiah, that is, His Excellency, and Ezra the priest-scribe and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all the people: “Today is holy to the LORD your God. Do not be sad, and do not weep”– for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law. He said further: “Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared; for today is holy to our LORD. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!” And the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Hush, for today is holy, and you must not be saddened.” Then all the people went to eat and drink, to distribute portions, and to celebrate with great joy, for they understood the words that had been expounded to them.

R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
They are more precious than gold, than a heap of purest gold; Sweeter also than syrup or honey from the comb.
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
Gospel Acclamation Mark 1:15
Alleluia, alleluia. The Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Luke 10:1-12 Your peace will rest on him.
Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’ Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say, ‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.’ Yet know this: the Kingdom of God is at hand. I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Thursday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
Either:
First Reading Deuteronomy 10:8-9 The Lord himself is our heritage.
Moses summoned all of Israel and said to them: “At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to be in attendance before the LORD and minister to him, and to give blessings in his name, as they have done to this day. For this reason, Levi has no share in the heritage with his brothers; the LORD himself is his heritage, as the LORD, your God, has told him.”

R/ Thanks be to God.
OR: --------
First reading 1 Kings 19:4-9a, 11-15a Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord.
Elijah went a day’s journey into the desert, until he came to a broom tree and sat beneath it. He prayed for death saying: “This is enough, O LORD! Take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.” He lay down and fell asleep under the broom tree, but then an angel touched him and ordered him to get up and eat. He looked and there at his head was a hearth cake and a jug of water. After he ate and drank, he lay down again, but the angel of the LORD came back a second time, touched him, and ordered, “Get up and eat, else the journey will be too long for you!” He got up, ate, and drank; then strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. There he came to a cave, where he took shelter. Then the LORD said to him, “Go outside and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will be passing by.” A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the LORD— but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake– but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire– but the LORD was not in the fire. After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound. When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went and stood at the entrance of the cave. A voice said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?” He replied, “I have been most zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts. But the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to the sword. I alone am left, and they seek to take my life.” The LORD said to him, “Go, take the road back to the desert near Damascus.”
OR: --------
First reading 1 Kings 19:16b, 19-21 Elisha left and followed Elijah.
The LORD said to Elijah: “You shall anoint Elisha, son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah, as prophet to succeed you.” Elijah set out and came upon Elisha, son of Shaphat, as he was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen; he was following the twelfth. Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak over him. Elisha left the oxen, ran after Elijah, and said, “Please, let me kiss my father and mother goodbye, and I will follow you.” Elijah answered, “Go back! Have I done anything to you?” Elisha left him and, taking the yoke of oxen, slaughtered them; he used the plowing equipment for fuel to boil their flesh, and gave it to his people to eat. Then he left and followed Elijah as his attendant.

Responsorial Psalm Psalm 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6
Blessed are they who hope in the Lord. or Blessed are they who delight in the law of the Lord. or The just will flourish like the palm tree in the garden of the Lord.
Blessed the man who follows not the counsel of the wicked Nor walks in the way of sinners, nor sits in the company of the insolent, But delights in the law of the LORD and meditates on his law day and night.
Blessed are they who hope in the Lord. or Blessed are they who delight in the law of the Lord. or The just will flourish like the palm tree in the garden of the Lord.
He is like a tree planted near running water, That yields its fruit in due season, and whose leaves never fade. Whatever he does, prospers.
Blessed are they who hope in the Lord. or Blessed are they who delight in the law of the Lord. or The just will flourish like the palm tree in the garden of the Lord.
Not so, the wicked, not so; they are like chaff which the wind drives away. For the LORD watches over the way of the just, but the way of the wicked vanishes.
Blessed are they who hope in the Lord. or Blessed are they who delight in the law of the Lord. or The just will flourish like the palm tree in the garden of the Lord.

The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Who harms not his fellow man, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; By whom the reprobate is despised, while he honors those who fear the LORD.

Who lends not his money at usury and accepts no bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be disturbed.
The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.

Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the LORD, “My Lord are you.” O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot.
You are my inheritance, O Lord.
I bless the LORD who counsels me; even in the night my heart exhorts me. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
You are my inheritance, O Lord.
You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.
You are my inheritance, O Lord.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side With your rod and your staff that give me courage.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

I will bless the Lord at all times. or Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Glorify the LORD with me, let us together extol his name. I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
I will bless the Lord at all times. or Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Look to him that you may be radiant with joy, and your faces may not blush with shame. When the poor one called out, the LORD heard, and from all his distress he saved him.
I will bless the Lord at all times. or Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Taste and see how good the LORD is; blessed the man who takes refuge in him.

O bless the Lord, my soul!
Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. He will not always chide, nor does he keep his wrath forever.
O bless the Lord, my soul!
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him, For he knows how we are formed; he remembers that we are dust.
O bless the Lord, my soul!
But the kindness of the LORD is from eternity to eternity toward those who fear him, And his justice toward his children’s children among those who keep his covenant.
O bless the Lord, my soul!

O LORD, my heart is not proud, nor are my eyes haughty; I busy not myself with great things, nor with things too sublime for me.
In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted my soul like a weaned child. Like a weaned child on its mother’s lap, so is my soul within me.
In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
O Israel, hope in the LORD, both now and forever.
In you, Lord, I have found my peace.

Gospel Matthew 19:3-12 For the sake of the Kingdom of heaven.
Some Pharisees approached Jesus and tested him, saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?” He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” They said to him, “Then why did Moses command that the man give the woman a bill of divorce and dismiss her?” He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery.” His disciples said to him, “If that is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” He answered, “Not all can accept this word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.”

Gospel Mark 10:17-30 Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor; then come, follow me.
As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus answered him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother.” He replied and said to him, “Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth.” Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the Kingdom of God!” The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, “Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.” They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God.” Peter began to say to him, “We have given up everything and followed you.” Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.”

Gospel Luke 9:57-62 I will follow you wherever you go.
As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” And to another he said, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.” And another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Gospel Luke 14:25-33 Everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.
Great crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and addressed them, “If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.’ Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”

Either:
First Reading Exodus 32:7-14 Then he spoke of exterminating them, but Moses, his chosen one, withstood him in the breach to turn back his destructive wrath. (Psalm 106:23)
The LORD said to Moses, “Go down at once to your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, for they have become depraved. They have soon turned aside from the way I pointed out to them, making for themselves a molten calf and worshiping it, sacrificing to it and crying out, ‘This is your God, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ I see how stiff-necked this people is,” continued the LORD to Moses. “Let me alone, then, that my wrath may blaze up against them to consume them. Then I will make of you a great nation.”
But Moses implored the LORD, his God, saying, “Why, O LORD, should your wrath blaze up against your own people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with such great power and with so strong a hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent he brought them out, that he might kill them in the mountains and exterminate them from the face of the earth’? Let your blazing wrath die down; relent in punishing your people. Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and how you swore to them by your own self, saying, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky; and all this land that I promised, I will give your descendants as their perpetual heritage.’” So the LORD relented in the punishment he had threatened to inflict on his people.

First reading Deuteronomy 10:8-9 The Lord himself is his heritage.

First reading 1 Samuel 16:1b, 6-13a There–anoint him, for this is he!
The LORD said to Samuel: “Fill your horn with oil, and be on your way. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen my king from among his sons.” As Jesse and his sons came to the sacrifice, Samuel looked at Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed is here before him.” But the LORD said to Samuel: “Do not judge from his appearance or from his lofty stature, because I have rejected him. Not as man sees does God see, because he sees the appearance but the LORD looks into the heart.” Then Jesse called Abinadab and presented him before Samuel, who said, “The LORD has not chosen him.” Next Jesse presented Shammah, but Samuel said, “The LORD has not chosen this one either.” In the same way Jesse presented seven sons before Samuel, but Samuel said to Jesse, “The LORD has not chosen any one of these.” Then Samuel asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” Jesse replied, “There is still the youngest, who is tending the sheep.” Samuel said to Jesse, “Send for him; we will not begin the sacrificial banquet until he arrives here.” Jesse sent and had the young man brought to them. He was ruddy, a youth handsome to behold and making a splendid appearance. The LORD said, “There–anoint him, for this is he!” Then Samuel, with the horn of oil in hand, anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and from that day on, the spirit of the LORD rushed upon David.

First reading Isaiah 6:1-8 Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?
In the year King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of his garment filling the temple. Seraphim were stationed above; each of them had six wings: with two they veiled their faces, with two they veiled their feet, and with two they hovered aloft. “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts!” they cried, one to the other. “All the earth is filled with his glory!” At the sound of that cry, the frame of the door shook and the house was filled with smoke. Then I said, “Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, holding an ember which he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with it and said, “See, now that this has touched your lips, your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” “Here I am,” I said; “send me!”

First reading Isaiah 52:7-10 All the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, Announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, “Your God is King!” Hark! Your sentinels raise a cry, together they shout for joy, For they see directly, before their eyes, the LORD restoring Zion. Break out together in song, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the LORD comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem. The LORD has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; All the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God.

First reading Isaiah 61:1-3a The Lord has anointed me; he has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly.
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, To announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God, to comfort all who mourn; To place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit.

First reading Jeremiah 1:4-9 To whomever I send you, you shall go.
The word of the LORD came to me thus:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
“Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I know not how to speak; I am too young.”
But the LORD answered me,
Say not, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Have no fear before them, because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.
Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying,
See, I place my words in your mouth!

First reading Ezekiel 3:17-21 I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel.
The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, you shall warn them for me. If I say to the wicked man, You shall surely die; and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his wicked conduct so that he may live: the wicked man shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, on the other hand, you have warned the wicked man, yet he has not turned away from his evil nor from his wicked conduct, then he shall die for his sin, but you shall save your life. If a virtuous man turns away from virtue and does wrong when I place a stumbling block before him, he shall die. He shall die for his sin, and his virtuous deeds shall not be remembered; but I will hold you responsible for his death if you did not warn him. When, on the other hand, you have warned a virtuous man not to sin, and he has in fact not sinned, he shall surely live because of the warning, and you shall save your own life.

First reading Ezekiel 34:11-16 As a shepherd tends his flock, so will I tend my sheep.
Thus says the Lord GOD: I myself will look after and tend my sheep. As a shepherd tends his flock when he finds himself among his scattered sheep, so will I tend my sheep. I will rescue them from every place where they were scattered when it was cloudy and dark. I will lead them out from among the peoples and gather them from the foreign lands; I will bring them back to their own country and pasture them upon the mountains of Israel in the land’s ravines and all its inhabited places. In good pastures will I pasture them, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing ground. There they shall lie down on good grazing ground, and in rich pastures shall they be pastured on the mountains of Israel. I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest, says the Lord GOD. The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy, shepherding them rightly.

For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Gospel Mark 1:14-20 I will make you fishers of men.
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.

Gospel Mark 16:15-20 Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.

Gospel Luke 5:1-11 At your command I will lower the nets.
While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God, he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret. He saw two boats there alongside the lake; the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of them, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” Simon said in reply, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them. They came and filled both boats so that the boats were in danger of sinking. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.

Gospel Luke 10:1-9 The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.
The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’”

Gospel Luke 22:24-30 I confer a kingdom on you, just as my Father has conferred one on me.
An argument broke out among the Apostles about which of them should be regarded as the greatest. Rather, let the greatest among you be as the youngest, and the leader as the servant. For who is greater: the one seated at table or the one who serves? Is it not the one seated at table? I am among you as the one who serves. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He then said to Simon Peter a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

Hi. I loved your kanan story.
I just had a thought for a fic starter, with female reader or gender neutral if your more comfortable.
What if just after order 66 was supposed to happen a young padawan, 12 to 15 years old was cornered by rex cody and wolffe, but she somehow escaped all 3 of them and their men. Maybe she had special jedi abilities that made her especially dangerous to herself in their eyes.
Fast forward to rebels era where shes with kanan in full armor with a Helmet and a fake identity. Things are going well. But then they run into old Rex, Wolffe and Gregor on Seelos. Despite her precautions, they somehow figure out who she is (could be voice, mannerisms or an old physical tick she never grew out of).
They snap right back into their "fatherly" yandere tendencies. And this time. They are not letting her go. They will take her, Ezra and Kanan. And they WILL bring them home where they belong.
With their family.
With the clones.
After all, the jedi must be kept safe.
(I know this is really long and you dont have to write it if you dont want to.)
Ok so this story will also be part of my yandere clones au, the reader belongs to the species Nakild, which is a species I made up a while ago, I haven't made a post about this species yet but will at some point, just to keep it short, they are a humanoid species with a long tail resembling that of a crocodile or even dragon, their scales cover a majority of their body, only their face, and stomach is uncovered when they don't let their beast out, letting the beast out is basically them taking the form of a dragon, the form depends on each Nakild just like the scales.
The color of their scales depends on their environment, making it so that most Nakilds that travel space have black and grey scales, but they all have a color since birth that remains in smaller parts for their entire life.
Also, their claws and hair are considered very important, besides them helping them to survive, they are considered sacred basically and cutting or ripping them off the way some people do to their cats is seen as desecrating their bodies.
"How do you think our new master will be like?" Ashoka asked as she paced around the small room in the ship they were in.
"I've heard many things about Master Kenobi and Knight Skywalker, I think they will be good," (F/N) answered thankful that they had managed to enter the planet and out of separatist fire as they tended to some of the scales in their arms that had been ruffled up before.
The reason for (F/N)'s squad to be called "lucky squad" is due to them picking names after luck amulets in a sign or camadery with (F/N) who is a runt.
Runts who grow beyond 10 are considered good omens and good luck to the Nakilds.
Anyway let us begin:
"In fact, we should be arriving in a few minutes, so you won't have to wait much longer," (F/N) assured as the ship began going down into the planet.
The ship began landing and they both quickly stood in front of the door.
"What can you see?" Ashoka asked.
"There is a group waiting in the landing port already, our masters are there," (F/N) informed as they used their eye visor to see beyond the sheep.
As the ship finally landed they both stood patiently in front of the door as it began to go down, letting the natural daylight in, Ashoka and (F/N) quickly went down the ramp to greet the Jedi.
"Two younglings?" (F/N) heard Master Kenobi say and held a breath in nervousness as they tried to keep their tail as neutral as possible.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Skywalker asked an R2 unit beeping in response.
"I'm Ashoka and this is (F/N), Master Yoda sent us," Ashoka began.
"We were told to tell both of you, that you must get to the Jedi temple immediately, there's an emergency,"
"Well, I don't know if you've noticed but we're in a bit of an emergency right here,"
"Yes our communications have been a bit unreliable, but we've been calling for help,"
"Master Yoda hadn't heard from you so he sent us to deliver the message," (F/N) explained as they looked at Ashoka worriedly.
"Great, they don't even know we're in trouble,"
"Maybe you can't relay a signal through the cruiser that just dropped us off," Ashoka offered.
Timeskip
(F/N) couldn't help but curl their tail around their leg as the communicator lost signal and the cruiser that had dropped them off had to retreat away from the separatists that had attacked them.
But soon both Jedi turned their attention back to them as Master Kenobi spoke.
"My apologies, we haven't been introduced,"
"We're the new padawans sir, I'm Ashoka Tano,"
"And I'm (F/N) (L/N),"
"Wait, why are there two of you if only Obi-Wan wanted a padawan?" Skywalker asked confused.
"I was assigned to Master Skywalker actually," Ashoka informed much to the shock of both Jedi.
"It is I who was assigned to you Master Kenobi," (F/N) added.
"What?!"
"Nononono, there has to be a mistake,"
"It's him who wanted a padawan," Skywalker pointed at Kenobi who looked quite amused, and (F/N) could tell Ashoka was also amused but they themselves couldn't help but feel nervous as they began scratching their head but stopped before it became too noticeable.
"No, Master Yoda was very clear, he assigned me with Anakin Skywalker who had to watch over my training," Ashoka explained.
"But that makes no sense,"
"We'll have to clear this up later, those droids won't take much to figure out our weapons," Kenobi pointed out.
"I'll go to Rex to see how everything is going," Skywalker said with disdain.
"Take her with you," Kenobi said with a smile as he prompted Ashoka to follow Skywalker.
*Good luck,* (F/N) wished in a purr only Ashoka could listen, this prompted her to send a reassuring smile as she left to follow Skywalker and left (F/N) with Master Kenobi who turned to her.
"I will need to inform Cody about this too, shall we?" Master Kenobi looked at (F/N) who quickly nodded.
"Yes, Master Kenobi,"
"Call me Obi-Wan, there is no need for any formalities with me padawan," Obi-wan gave them a smile as (F/N) stood there for a moment shocked before following after him with a relieved smile.
Timeskip
(F/N) took deep breaths as they ran down the levels of Coruscant, trying to lose the clones that had spotted them earlier.
*Damn it, I had to be impatient like always,* (F/N) admonished themselves as they made a sharp turn into an alleyway where they stopped behind a dumpster to hide and rest for a moment.
(F/N) took a deep breath to regain strength, thankful for the rain that also helped to keep their body from overheating.
*Okay, I can't stay here anymore, I need to get in a ship and out of here now,* (F/N) thought with urgency as they scratched their head desperately but quickly regained their composure and moved to stand up until the sound of footsteps against the water alerted them of someone being in the alleyway.
(F/N) froze as they lowered themselves to the ground, ready to pounce into the opposite wall of the alleyway to get enough impulse to get to the house's roofs.
"(F/N)!" A voice called out, a voice (F/N) was very familiar with.
*Cody...what is he doing here???*
"C'mon kid we just want to get you back to safety," Cody assured but (F/N) only huffed knowing the "safety" he was referring to.
"Please, your squad is getting more worried by the second, we're all worried," Cody called out again.
(F/N) then heard another pair of footsteps on the other side of the alleyway, (F/N) made eye contact with Rex, both froze like deer in the headlights but (F/N) didn't wait for him to make the next move, jumping towards the wall and in less than a blink in the hash roof with the rain once again soaking them completely.
BUt (F/N) didn't even get a second to assess their surroundings because someone slammed against them and tackled them, making the both roll around the roof towards the ledge which they almost fell off if (F/N) hadn't managed to get a grip on a pole, now (F/N) could see it had been Wolffe who tackled them, he was hanging from one of their feet with a vice grip as he also recovered.
*The hell??!?!?!* (F/N) thought as Wolffe turned to glare at them.
"This game has gone on for too long brat, unlike the others, I'm not as paci-HEY STOP KICKIN-BRAAAAAT," Wolffe screamed as (F/N) manage dot get him to let go of their leg before standing up and running off avoiding the other clones that had been close.
(F/N) kept running until they came to a halt slamming onto the railing that prevented them from falling into one of the floor's ship ports that went from the first level to the last, it was a very nasty fall, but as (F/N) looked around and saw that they were surrounded the fall became more appealing.
"Kid please, don't make this hard, I know this is scary but you need to-" Cody began as (F/N) turned around to see him accompanied by Rex and Wolffe.
"Scared?!" (F/N) couldn't help but ask in indignation.
"You claim to want me safe but you tried to rip my damned claws out!!" (F/N) yelled as they shuddered at the memory, it had been the last straw that made them run away.
"(F/N) please, you need to understand we were trying to protect you," Came the voice of Clover from (F/N)'s left side.
"Those claws have hurt you so much and you even used them to get away from safety, they are just a danger to you!" Acorn said beside him and (F/N)'s heart ached so much at the thought that the squad she had trusted with their own life would ever try to do something like that, they even knew the meaning of such an action from them, so why?
"Get away from me!" (F/N) yelled and ruffled up their scales as a warning as they let their body morph a bit more unto their full form as they hopped onto the railway, using their tail to keep their balance.
"KID!"
"(F/N)!"
They yelled but (F/N) only glared at them.
*It's either jumping or going back, and like hell am I doing that,*
"Kid, we'll stop with your claws or anything, just please get off that railway!" Wolffe pleaded and (F/N) had to admit it was quite the sight to see the stoic Commander Wolffe plead alongside no one less than Cody.
"We'll let you see Obi-Wan, just get down!" Cody tried to persuade but (F/N) had already made up their mind.
(F/N) then looked at Cody dead in the eye as they ruffled their scales once again but this time completely as they took a deep breath and jumped down, the last thing they heard was the screams of the clones, but for some reason (F/N) felt that they would be fine, after all, it had been the force that had guided them here.
Timeskip change of pov
Cody sat behind his desk as he filed datapad after datapad before the door chime went off.
"Come in," Cody said and the door opened and let in Lucky squad, or in other words (F/N)'s squad, Cody had always known them but by now he could probably tell if there was a single hair missing on their heads, it had been already ten years since (F/N) got away and eight years since they lost their track.
"Sir," They all saluted.
"What is it that brings you here, anything new to report?" Cody asked even though he knew what they would say and ask, they had poured their entire beings into getting (F/N) back.
"Sir, we believe you know," Rabbit answered.
"I believe I do, and if you do then what are you here for?" Cody asked wanting nothing but to tell them about the news, but he planned to keep it a surprise, he wouldn't admit it, but he had grown attached to them since they came here from Kamino to be assigned as (F/N)'s scout squad, he has always been fond of the names they chose, symbolizing luck just like (F/N) as a hole.
"Why did you planet-bound us?" Carp asked the most hot-headed of the group.
"Carp," Red pulled him back, even if it was clear he shared the same feeling.
"I'm afraid that with the recent attacks towards our cargo ships I had to move some of the troopers here to keep the cargo ships safe, but then we needed more troopers here, you aren't the only ones and this won't be permanent, just take this moment to rest I can tell you need it," Cody explained.
"With all due respect sir, but we don't care about our rest, we need to find and bring (F/N) back!" Acorn spoke up.
"Acorn, I know it has been hard on you after-"
"I was there sir, I should have done something!" Acorn interrupted and Clover stepped beside him in support since they had also been there.
"And you will, but you won't be able to do anything if you are exhausted, do you think you'll be able to do anything in the shape you are?" Cody asked coldly and ht squad seemed to sober up.
"So go to your quarters have a good night's sleep and report for duty tomorrow, you are now dismissed," The squad didn't put much of a fight under Cody0s glare and left the room.
Cody sighed in relief, he knew they probably resented him now, it would all be worth it to see their smile later, he thought as he took his comm out and read Rex's last message.
"We have them,"
A few days before
"We are not doing that!" (F/N) refused their scales ruffling up.
"I like this just as much as you do, but the information we need and there is no one I can trust this that isn't you (F/N)," Ashoka tried to persuade as (F/N) paced through the small room scratching their head in frustration.
"Why me, any of us for a matter of fact, they'll recognize us!"
"Not you though," Ashoka pointed out and (F/N) stopped looking back at the hologram.
"Your species changes quite a bit as they age, you have changed and if we put on top of that your armor and voice modification, your basically someone else," Ashoka explained.
"Not to forget that your armor and scales make it so that you can't be stunned as easily as anyone else,"
"Yeah but should I remind you that my species basically closed off their planet during the clone wars, there's basically one Nakild for at least every 100 planets Ashoka," (F/N) pointed out.
"How many people even figure out you're a Nakild?" (F/N) remained silent since Ashoka was right in that, no one had ever managed to figure it out, thanks to the armor and to a few force suggestions that (F/N) had implanted in the armor to keep people from noticing them for to long, nothing too noticeable, just to make themselves uninteresting.
"I feel like I'm going to regret this...what clones are we talking about?" (F/N) asked after a long sigh.
"It would be Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor," Ashoka informed, (F/N) remained silent for a few seconds as they just stared at each other.
"Well....fuck,"
Timeskip
(F/N) stood waiting where Ashoka had said the meeting place was, but no one had arrived and it was already ten minutes after the time they had agreed.
Even if (F/N) wanted to not stand in the open like they were right now, Ashoka had said that it would hint at their nature, so (F/N) could only sigh while their tail tapped on the ground as they remained alert to their surroundings until their heard footsteps approach them,
(F/N) turned around immediately and saw the three clones fairly you looking.
*The hell, don't tell me they found a way to reverse their quick aging!* (F/N) cursed and ignored the ache caused by the thought that once upon a time it had been something (F/N) had wanted to help and find.
"You the clones I was sent to meet?" (F/N) asked trying to calm their beating heart.
"Were you expecting any others?" Rex asked with humor that (F/N) didn't mirror.
"Who knows, any clone could be acting like the ones I'm meant to meet,"
"How about we cut the chase and get to the point," Wolffe barked.
"Aww c'mon Wolffe I bet this is going to be fun," Gregor offered a smile.
"I do agree, do you have what we asked for?" Rex interrupted them before they could begin to argue.
"Depends on what you brought," At this Rex pulled out a small box.
"This is all the coordinates you asked from us, you can check if you want," Rex offered as he opened the box where four data drives were.
(F/N) took one and quickly scanned it, the result is shown in their visor, showing no tampering, trackers, viruses, or anything, they did the same with the others and the results were the same, but as (F/N) scanned the last one they tried to scratch their head nervously, only remembering the helmet when they scratched it accidentally.
"Everything's alright, so here is the info and credits you asked for," (F/N) handed over the two data drives that they had been tasked to switch.
"Hey, weird question but your a Nakild aren't you?" Gregor asked and it seemed as if the world had frozen as (F/N) turned to him.
"What?" Was all (F/N) could say.
"Oh, it's just that your tail is clearly that of a Nakild, but don't worry I won't tell, I know how bad the galaxy is with your kind," Gregor assured with a smile and went back to looking around as if nothing while (F/N), Rex and Wolffe only stared at each other.
"Anyway, I don't have all day, are we doing the trade or not?" (F/N) snapped back to Rex.
"Yeah, let's do it," Rex said as they handed each other what they had come for.
"I thought Nakilds stayed on their planet," Wolffe commented.
"Well, my family left long before the clone wars, so here I am," (F/N) lied as they quickly packed the data drive and were ready to book it until a shot grazed against their should, tearing the armor off as the group went down to the floor as more shots were fired.
"THE HELL!!" (F/N) yelled.
"NOT US!" Rex yelled back but as he and Gregor began crawling somewhere safer Wolffe stopped them and made them look and (F/M) who was also crawling in the opposite way, but their shoulder was easily seen, alongside the scales in it that made Rex remember.
Flashback
"Rex rex rex!" Ashoka yelled as she ran up to him and began dragging him back to the cargo bay.
"Is there a problem?" Rex asked worriedly.
"No, but (F/N) just shed and you need to see their shoulders!" Ashoka assured as they got to the cargo bay where the troopers were meant to be repainting their armors, but instead, they were all huddled up over someone, probably (F/N) Rex deduce as Ashoka made their way trough until they reached the center where (F/N) sat clearly embarrassed beyond belief as everyone awed and complimented the scales on their shoulders.
"(F/N), I brought Rex to show him!" Ashoka said exited and (F/N) just covered their face.
"Ashokaaaa, I told you not to tell everyone on the ship," (F/N) hissed.
"C'mon, it looks cool,"
"Yes, it's actually very heartwarming," One of the troopers assured and the rest made a sound of approval which seemed to just embarrass (F/N) even more, but they finally let their hands down to show their shoulders.
Rex hadn't been very aware of it before, but he did know that (F/N)'s scales were mostly beige, brown with a few dark purples mostly in their extremities, but where there had once been beige scales, there now stood a mix of 501 blue and 212 orange scales.
Rex couldn't help but feel happy but also curious, had they painted them?
"It's just because they are colors I'm regularly around nothing else!!" (F/N) yelled and they all couldn't help to cue as Ashoka hugged the giggling.
"But aren't those permanent?" Ashoka teased and (F/N) just pushed her away while hiding their face.
End of flashback
Said uncovered shoulder had the same mix of colors he had seen all those years ago and Rex couldn't help but yell in worry as (F/N) managed to get to the other side and stand up like them.
"(F/N)!" (F/N) in fact froze and turned to look at him before darting off managing to avoid the blaster fire.
The three managed to follow a bit later but were able to catch up to their slumped form in an alleyway.
"I told you the sedative would work," Gregor said cheerily as he sent a signal to stop the fire.
"We're lucky that shot managed to get through that armor," Wolffe muttered.
"And that this was actually a Jedi," Rex added.
"Please, there are only 27 Nakild out in the galaxy right now, of which 19 are Jedi who managed to get away, which makes them be around the 28% of Jedi who have escaped, they are really crafty to manage that, so we obviously needed a way to knock them out with one shot wich is hard considering stun shots basically do nothing bu tickle them, so I got to work and-"
"What matters is that we got them back," Rex said interrupting Gregor and not letting him begin to rant as he kneeled and took the helmet off, revealing the aged and tired face of the little padawan Rex had heard Cody rant so much about.
*Oh little one, so long away from safety, but don't worry we found you,* Rex thought as he stood up.
"Help me get them to the ship," He said as he took a hold of their upper body.
"When did the damned brat get so big?" Wolffe asked no one in particular as he took a hold of the lower body, remembering when Plo had spoken so much of them and little Soka.
"Nakilds naturally grow quite a bit, actually this one is fairly small in comparison to the average one even for a runt," Gregor explained as he helped with the middle part of the body and the tail.
"Why are they so small then?" Rex asked as they walked.
"Nakilds grow during their entire life but hit their major growth spurts when they are around 15 to 20, they are only small if they are malnourished and don't get enough rest,"
"Damn, if we had found them before or if we hadn't let them leave, they would have managed to grow strong and healthy," Wolffe cursed as they finally got to the ship.
After they secured (F/N) and made sure they wouldn't wake up until after they got back home Rex relaxed and took his comm out to send Cody a message.
"Cody,"
"Yes?"
"We found (F/N),"
"What?"
"Did you get them back?!"
"Before I tell you I need you to not info the lucky squad,"
"Why, they've been going insane searching for them?"
"I want to surprise them,"
"Alright, I how long will you be here?"
"Three days,"
"I can get them here in two, so I guessing you have them?"
"We have them," This was the last message that Rex sent before he turned his comm off and dozed off into a pleasant sleep, eager to see the reaction of his little sibling went they see their Jedi, searching their tech could wait.

Back to you (Captain Rex x reader) (Rebels)
Summary: In a mission to recover information about locations for a possible base, You and the Ghost crew are sent to Seelos to find a potential new ally, but you never expected it to be him.
Words: 1, 672
A/n: Hi, thanks for reading my trash. I felt like my husband needed some love so here we are. Also this happens in Rebels s2e2 "The lost commanders" and reader has Kanan's age.
Tumblr media
Being part of the Ghost crew involved to be constantly on the move, always hiding and running from the Empire but it gave you the opportunity to help others and that made you feel like you were doing something good with your life, plus they had become your family.
After realizing you were part of a larger rebellion against the Empire and with the lost of the Phoenix home in Lothal, it was imperative to find a base where to hide. That's how you and the Spectres ended up in the outer rim searching for Ahsoka's friend.
The flight was boring with nothing to look at but plain desert everywhere, until the tactical droid detected something nearby, an old republic modified AT-TE walker.
After landing Kanan told you to stay on the ship and fix the communications while the rest of the team went to investigate.
You started to work in the ship but there was something stuck in your head, a number you knew, the same number the tactical droid repeated non-stop, the same number that leaded you here, "7567". Could it be… could it be him?
The sound of blasters woke you from your thoughts and quickly you rushed outside the little ship hoping your friends weren't in trouble but after seeing they were fine you stared at the three men in the tank and froze instantly when you caught a familiar gaze.
If you had your suspicions about who was the person you were looking for before, this just confirmed it. Even though he looked a bit different from the last time you saw him, you knew it was him, how? by his eyes.
Maker, you could recognize those beautiful golden eyes anywhere in the galaxy.
"Nice to meet you ...7567" you heard Ezra and suddenly your mind snapped back to reality.
"Rex" you said without thinking making everyone turn around to see you "his name is Rex"
"Wait, you know him?" Kanan asked you as you get closer to them. You gave him a happy nod in response.
"(Y/n)?" Rex recognized you instantly once you were beside your friends,  after all you hadn't changed that much, you were as beautiful as he remembered you.
The captain hurried to get down of the tank and you could swear your heart was going to get out of your chest while he was walking towards you.
He looked so different and yet for you he was still the same man you knew a long time ago, the man you fell in love with.
Stars, you had missed this man so much you couldn't help but put him in a tight hug once he was in front of you.
"it's you!" you happily said holding him closer. Rex laughed putting his arms around your waist and lifting you up until your legs were wrapped around his waist, foreheads resting together.
"It's me, cyare" he assured you.
You heard Kanan cleaning his throat and both you quickly let go of each other.
"Cyare?" Sabine mumbled recognising her language.
"You guys need a moment?" asked Zeb in a teasing tone, making your cheeks go a little red.
"Sorry, it's just… I haven't seen (y/n) in a very long time" Rex explained rubbing the back of his head. Owning a raised eyebrow from everyone.
"Well, what are you waiting for? bring them in!" screamed Gregor from the walker saving you from further questions.
•••
Later that day you and the team agreed to help the clones hunt a Joopa as payment for the intelligence they had. It  gave you enough time to catch up with Rex.
"Whose idea was this?" you asked Rex as you were leaning on a railing, the captain chuckled and pointed at Gregor on the other side of the walker who was happily cheering Zeb. Both of you laughed and  shaked your heads at his brother.
"So you found your brothers" you noted remembering why your paths parted years ago.
"Yeah.. took me some time" he said looking at your friends across the tank "you join the cause"
"Yup" you proudly said following his contemplating stare "and I found them too, my new family"
"They seem to be good people" he said looking back at you "but I'm not sure Kanan trust me"
"Give him a time" you suggested "he just needs to make sure that what happened to his master, to the Jedi, is not going to happen to us"
"Understood, sir" he said in a playful tone that only made you roll your eyes "thanks for the advice"
You nudged him and both giggled like the old times. It was a relief knowing his humor sense was still the same.
"You know, when Ahsoka send us on this mission I never thought it would be you the person we were looking for. I'm glad it's you"
He smiled softly at you and  you took a minute to appreciate the features of your old lover. He looked so different now and yet he was still the same man you loved so dearly.
Flashes of his younger self filled your mind. You remembered the very short blond hair you used to run your fingers, his golden eyes and always clean shaved jaw. His features now hidden behind a silver, surprisingly soft beard.
He had aged fastly, just like he told you he would, clones were engineered to grow twice as fast, however you couldn't see him like an old man, it was just him, the Rex you adored and the more you looked at him the more you fell once again for him.
"What is it (y/n)?" Rex asked raising an eyebrow.
"I never thought I'd see you with beard" you confessed owning a chuckle form the captain. Then you raised a hand and stroked his beard a bit, trying to get used to it. Rex leaned in your hand and closed his eyes for a second enjoying your sweet touch "I like it… suits you"
"Well, had I known that you would like it so much, I would have let it grow earlier" he teased and both laughed at his comment, unconsciously moving closer to each other until you collided with his armor. Both of you stayed quiet for a moment realizing the closeness, but not pulling away.
"You have no idea of how much I missed you, (y/n)". he confessed tucking a lock of hair behind your ear before caressing your cheek,  making your heart beat faster with every second past.
"I missed you too, Rex" you breathed.
He carefully lifted your chin up and pulled you closer until your lips were on his, sending a wave of electricity all along your spine as he kissed you slowly at first and then desperately as if he was afraid you might vanish. There were no need for words, it was obvious that both still loved each other.
Eventually you pulled away in need of air, he rested his forehead on yours while both catched your breath, smiling softly at each other.
"(Y/n), you did fix the communications, right?" you heard Kanan scream from where he was, interrupting the moment between you and the Captain.
"Karabast" you whispered and Rex chuckled "I'm on it!" you yelled and gave Rex a light kiss before you rushed to the ship.
The Captain walked over to the front of the walker with the rest of the team that were concentrated, mostly bored and tired of the hunting.
"So… how did you guys meet? You and (y/n)?" Ezra asked when he saw Rex lean on a nearby rail.
"It was five years after the end of the clone wars" Rex started "I was lost in a planet where the people didn't exactly like clones,  without food, weapons or credits"
"A planet that doesn't like clones? Should I buy property there?" Kanan said with his sarcastic voice owning a look from Ezra who was quietly paying attention to the captain's story.
"Hey, don't be mean!" said the blue haired boy "what happened then?"
"She saved my life" Rex told them "she helped me when no one else did" he smiled at the memory "we were together for almost two years until we decided to take different ways"
"It sounds like you two were really close" spoke Sabine from the roof the ship. "You called her 'cyare' "
"What does that mean?" asked confused Ezra, making the clone Captain blush a bit.
"Beloved" responded Rex without hesitation "it means 'beloved'
"I hate to be the one asking this" added Kanan walking closer "but why didn't you stay with her?"
The captain sighed deeply before answering to the Jedi.
"I wanted to find my brothers, move to some neutral system and have a peaceful life, no more fighting, no more war" he paused for a second "she wanted to fight, do something with her life more than just steal things, she wanted to help others"
"You loved her, right?" Ezra asked without hesitation. This kid was wild.
Rex suddenly saw you coming out of the ship and lean against the door frame with that pretty smile of yours that always made his heart soft.
"I still do, kid, I still do"

After a lot of effort and teamwork, you finally managed to capture the giant worm Gregor was so excited about. It was a good day, all things considered, the mission to get the data for the base was more than done and hunting the  Joopa was quite a thing, but most importantly you reunited with Rex that somehow managed to convince the Ghost crew to stay for dinner.
You both kept close to each other all the time, sharing slight delicate brushing of hands and exchanging loving gazes.
While the crew had dinner tasting the rich flavor of the hunt of the day and shared stories you watched Rex sitting across the table. You stared at him with longing and hope, feeling that your world was complete again with this man by your side.

Tangled Limbs, A Reader/Clones Fic
Tumblr media
Warnings: None
Pairings: Reader/Captain Rex/Captain Gregor/Commander Wolffe
Summary: You’re woken in the early morning hours and find you’re weighted down by several somethings. You’re pleased to find yourself in a tangle of your lovers’ limbs.
Notes: I know I’m using a picture of the three clones as old men in Rebels, but I have in mind that Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe are still young in this fic. It’s set before the clones go into hiding on Seelos.
I’ve had this written for a while, but in keeping with @clonesandmoans theme of Soft Sunday, I’d thought I’d post it today.
It’s short, it’s sweet, and it’s soft. Enjoy! ✨
The room is still dark when you wake. You let your eyes adjust as you bask in the warmth one feels after waking from a particularly good dream. A contented sigh passes your lips as you burrow deeper into the covers.
You frown when you realize you can’t move. Your body is weighted down by a few different somethings. The haze of sleep dissipates, but the warm feeling returns to your chest when you realize you are caught in a tangle of limbs.
Rex is pressed up against your back with his arm thrown over your midsection, pulling you into his chest. Even in his slumber, he holds onto you tightly, like something might steal you away while he sleeps. Rex allows no room between your back and his chest. His nose presses into your hair and you can feel him breathe you in on each inhale.
Gregor has his head resting against your lower abdomen and his arms wrapped around your legs. His fingers grip your thighs and his breath ghosts against your stomach where your shirt has ridden up. You can hear him mumbling while he sleeps, nonsensical mutterings that only mean anything in dreams.
Wolffe is not in the bed with you. He is seated on the floor, his head and upper body draped on the mattress. His fingers are intertwined with yours and he holds your hand close to his lips, as if poised to press soft kisses on your knuckles.
A soft smile pulls at your lips as your consider your great fortune. A few years ago you hadn’t considered ever finding just one person that you would trade the galaxy for. Now you had three men wrapped around you, holding you closer than you’ve ever been held.
A supernova of emotion explodes within you, its warmth radiating through your body. You swear you can feel love in your very atoms as every heartbeat drives the affection out to your fingertips.
Your fingers tighten ever so slightly in Wolffe’s grasp and you run your free hand over Gregor’s head, your thumb brushing over the scar near his temple. You press back gently against Rex, knowing you can’t get much closer to him, but trying to anyway.
The clones each react to your movements. Gregor nuzzles his head against your palm and Wolffe brings your joined hands to his lip, pressing a gentle kiss on your fingers without ever waking. You feel Rex’s lips press against your neck, followed by a nudge from his nose. His grip on your midsection tightens and he presses against you, careful not to jostle Gregor.
“It’s early for you to be awake,” he says softly in your ear, voice rough with sleep.
“I know,” you respond quietly. “But I’m glad I’m awake for this.”
You emphasize your words by tilting your head back, leaving your neck open to him. He takes the opportunity to press another kiss to the juncture at your neck and shoulder. Rex peppers more kisses along your neck, placing one final kiss at your jaw. He sighs contentedly and settles back down to sleep with his lips brushing the back of your neck.
Your smile grows wider when you feel Gregor’s lips press against your bare stomach. He is only half awake and his kiss is groggy, but it makes your heart flutter in your chest.
You have never experienced such love and affection in your life and you thank your lucky stars that you found these men who are capable of pouring so much love into you. The warm feeling grows and radiates through you and you fall back into a blissful slumber.

Masterlist
i take from you everything you will allow     Wolffe and Plo and three long years in the Clone Wars, navigating a relationship that no one - including them - understands. A series of moments that meant something, after it all. *Ch 2/4/6/14/15/18  cigarettes and cilantro       Wolffe knows that smoking is bad for his health. He just doesn’t see a reason to care. It’s not like he’s going to be alive long enough for it to matter.  enganche       Wolffe is stuck at a reception for a new peace treaty, and he is a terrible dancer. What a stupid activity. Maybe the waltz isn’t for him, and he should try tango instead.
and counting*     Good soldiers follow orders. Good commanders know how to interpret.(What happens after Order 66, and how Wolffe ends up marooned on Seelos.)  count the cost*       Order 66 goes live and Wolffe watches Plo Koon's ship burn in the Cato Nemoidian sky. He can't walk away without knowing for sure his beloved is dead. Maybe it would have been better if he was.
long i stood and looked down one     In the universe next door, Plo Koon declines a seat on the Council. Some things change.
a moment of silence for those dying for attention   Wolffe has not had to share his General with anyone since he was assigned, and he likes it that way. What's this? General Plo is hanging out with a shiny in the test pilot division? Abso-fucking-lutely not. Jai'galaar had better be ready for war, and not with the Separatists.
the mother’s curse*     Thanks to the Force, Wolffe's General is 8 years old again. Now what? Wolffe's so-done-with-this meter is about to break.
prayers to broken stone*     Order 66, from two perspectives: Plo, as he’s going to sleep; and Wolffe, as he’s waking up.
an offering of grace      Plo likes sitting on the floor. One thing leads to another, and before they know it Wolffe's got his very own work of art in his bed.
what wise men fear*      There are goings-on far above Wolffe's head that he doesn't have time to care about, since he's not going to be able to change any of it anyway. But Plo gets some news he doesn't like, and then a call from an Admiral shoves him right over the edge. Wolffe begins to understand why Jedi are the way they are.
back to haunt us*      10 years ago, Plo Koon is working in the DA's office when Iaco Stark breaks out of prison to murder him for sending him to prison in the first place. Detective Wolffe Fett is assigned to keep that from happening by following him everywhere. Neither of them are thrilled with this arrangement, but it only has to last until Stark is back where he belongs. 10 years later, Plo's a professor, Wolffe's still at the precinct, and Jango Fett is out of prison with a vendetta against his sons for putting him away. They just can't catch a break.
hippocrates: the better part of valor       Plo has a lot of misgivings about how the GAR is run, especially when it comes to prioritizing medical care, and like a lot of Kel Dor, Plo will take a stand for his principles. "Right after a battle while injured" was probably not the best time to pick that fight with the battalion medic. How Plo Koon learns not to get in his medic's way, or why Kit Fisto is S-O-L when he asks for Plo's help escaping the Courageous' medbay.
two roads diverge*     Two clones and a Jedi are caught behind enemy lines. Two of them are dying, and the third is the medic. Catch made a promise, and now he has to keep it.
Promptfic
Plo survives Order 66. Wolffe doesn’t.   Turn Left The first time Plo and Wolffe do certain things Wolffe coming to terms with a telepathic General Plo Koon, senator from Dorin Wolffe and Plo are soulmates on their third lives together - but Plo doesn’t remember The Wolfpack defends their General from the Navy Wolffe, Rex, and Plo in the Rebels-era Kit having a laugh over Plo’s new relationship* Undercover as a married couple, whilst actually married Last confessions  Wolffe’s not-contagious new Force-sensitivity* The Rako Hardeen AU Soft, sleepy domestic fluff Ahsoka figures out her Master Plo is in love Kaminoan mental health Plo and Wolffe, hand-to-hand Plo is very, very distracted by Wolffe Wolffe thinks Plo would be a good father Plo sticks around for a chat after lighting Wolffe’s cig Wolffe teaches Plo to shoot Scars Wolffe is spectacularly jealous of the new shiny  Wolffe v. My angsty headcanon is that they don’t know about this yet, and THIS revelation is the thing that drives Rex to retire from war entirely and settle down on Seelos. He just can’t do it anymore...not now.
And maybe he learns a little bit more than just what the 501st did at the temple. Maybe in tracking down the last of his men, he learns something else that happened at the temple. Something that explains why the Jedi younglings have fatal wounds from...a lightsaber. Maybe it drives something of a wedge between him and an old friend who isn’t ready to accept the truth yet...kriff, he can hardly believe it himself... (ever notice how Ahsoka sought out Rex after she sensed Vader’s presence in the force? maybe that timing is...not a coincidence)
Who told Echo it was the 501st who marched on the temple. Who told Rex. Who had to look them in the eyes and tell them that their boys killed younglings. THAT is a moment I’d sell my soul for.

Chapter Twelve
The Ghost leaps out of hyperspace, the hyperspace controls exploding. Hera turns in her seat to the grumbling droid, shouting, "We get all the way to Seelos, and now you tell me the hyperdrive wasn't completely fixed?" The astromech continues his grunting. "You finished the important repairs?-How did you define 'important?'"
Ar'iabel, who is in the cockpit, chuckles at the interaction. Kanan rushes in, glaring, "What's going on?"
"Chopper and I are staying here. To clean up his mess. Take the Phantom. Hopefully we'll be ready to go by the time you get back."
"That 'hopefully' really makes me confident in our odds today."
The Twi'lek turns to the two Jedi, shooing them out of the cockpit. "Go. We have a mission."
Kanan rolls his eyes, exiting the cockpit. Keen follows after the Knight, climbing into the Phantom. Sabine marches in, depositing the droid head on the console. Keen approaches, helping to attach the old technology to the ship.
By the time the head links to the Phantom, the ship is hovering over Seelos. "Well, let's fire this thing up," the Jedi shrugs.
The eyes of the face start to glow. "I think it's scanning for a signal of some kind," Sabine comments.
"Good luck," Ezra chuckles, "You could really get lost out here."
"Maybe that was the idea. What if this great commander we're looking for doesn't want to be found?" the Lasat grumbles, crossing his arms. He leans against the wall of the ship.
"7567. 7567."
Ar'iabel's head snaps toward the droid, eyes widening slightly. A smile spreads across her face, Sabine stating, "It's homing in on something."
The droid continues repeating the number, Keen squints through the view screen, as a Walker comes into view. She points out at it, "Look, there."
The Jedi Knight pilots the ship in the direction she indicated, hovering over an old, heavily modified AT-TE.
"Now that," the Mandalorian comments, "is a work of art."
"Looks like an old Republic tank, used during the Clone Wars."
"Yeah, looks like an AT-TE, although, its difficult to tell with the modifications."
Kanan guides the Phantom down, gently setting her in the sand directly beside the tank. Zeb and Sabine leave as Kanan lowers the ramp, Ezra going to follow them. Kanan grabs his shoulder, "Ezra," he warns, "be on guard."
The boy nods at his Master, following the others out. Keen raises an eyebrow at the Knight, "What the druk was that about."
"You don't sense that? That feeling of foreboding?"
She places a hand on his shoulder, "We just have to trust that the Force has a plan in all of this."
She leaves the Phantom, Kanan right beside her. As they touch the sandy terrain, three men exit the tank, standing on the platform. Zeb looks up at them, chuckling, "It's just a bunch of old geezers."
Sabine eyes the men, studying the giant blaster-rifles hanging at their sides, "Well-armed old geezers."
The man on the left has grey hair, and mutton chops., and one cybernetic eye, surrounded by a scar. He wears faded white armour, completely coated in dust To his left, the man in the middle, and clearly in charge. He also has dusty armour, and a bald head. A thick grey beard under friendly eyes. The final man is devoid of armour, instead wearing a dusty, grey vest. His face has some stubble covering his chin. The three share a strong resemblance.
"What do you want?" the bearded man questions.
"We're looking for someone," Kanan responds, gruffly.
"Well, that's too bad, 'cause there's nobody out here." The group of men turn around, heading back into their tank.
Ezra questioningly looks up, shouting, "Hey, uh, does the number 7567 mean anything to you?"
"What did you just say?" the bearded man states, angrily, turning back around to face the crew of rebels.
"Uh, I said 7567."
"I haven't heard those digits in..." he says in awe, "Well, that's my birth number."
"Birth number?" Ezra asks confusedly, glancing at Kanan.
"They're clones!" the Knight growls, pulling his lightsaber out. He ignites it, stepping in front of Ezra, who tries to get him to stop.
"Jedi," the scarred clone glares, lowering his blaster rifle, firing at the rebels. "They've come for revenge."
Zeb grabs his bow-rifle, lowering it, while Sabine pulls out her blaster. "Drop the blaster, old man," the Lasat growls.
"Don't try it, boyo!" the third clone says, lifting his own rifle up, "I'll gun you down."
"Stand down, troopers. Now!" The bearded one demands, adding, "That's an order, soldier."
"But he's a Jedi. A Jedi!"
The bearded clone lowers his voice, talking quietly to the scarred clone. Ezra takes the opportunity to talk to the Knight, "Kanan, Ahsoka said to trust them."
Keen gazes up at the three very recognizable faces, who somehow have yet to notice her. She knows who they are, the faded armour giving away their true identities. Before she can speak up about it, though, the bearded clone steps forward, "Sorry about the, um, weapons malfunction. My friend here is just a little defensive. See, we haven't seen a Jedi since, uh." He hesitates, knowing that the Clone Wars are a touchy subject to at least one of them. "Well, it's been a while."
Ezra smiles, waving up at the clones, "Well, my name's Ezra." He gestures to his Master, "This is Kanan." he points at the Lasat and Mandalorian, and adds, "That's Sabine and Zeb." Finally, the Padawan grabs the Jedi Master's forearm, dragging her out into plain view of the clones, various degrees of recognition flitting over each of their faces. "This is Keen. It's nice to meet you, 7567."
Ar'iabel smiles, meeting the bearded clones eyes. "No, Ezzie, his name is Rex. He was the Captain of the 501st Clone Battalion, the third best Battalion in the Clone Wars."
"I beg to differ, General. 501st was always the best, 212th wasn't bad either. Course, 87th was okay."
"Oi, you take that back! No way was Obi-Wan's Battalion better than mine! Cody was spreading rumours and you know it!"
The scarred clone rolls his eyes, "It's as if the wars never ended."
Keen rolls her eyes, "You're just jealous that the 104th was never part of the arguments, Wolffe."
"I can swear, General, that ain't the reason."
Her eyes drift to the final clone, and she smiles, "And how are you, Gregor?"
He laughs a little manically, saluting her. Kanan yanks her arm, dragging her back toward him, "What you're just okay with these guys? Didn't they try to kill you?"
"Not these clones specifically, no," she shrugs.
While Kanan is arguing with the Jedi Master, Ezra decides to keep the conversation rolling, "We were sent by Ahsoka Tano."
"Ahsoka Tano," Rex says, sounding wistful. "I fought by her side from the Battle of Christophsis to the siege of Mandalore. And a friend of hers is a friend of mine."
Keen, faking indignance lifts her eyes to the clone, "And what if they're a friend of mine, Rexy?"
He chuckles, "We'd need to make sure they'd had their vaccinations."
She smiles sweetly at him, "Aw, love you too, buddy."
The team climbs aboard the tank, entering into the rather homey interior. Gregor looks up from where he had collapsed in a chair, "Hey. You're a big one, aren't you?" he says to Zeb.
"Bigger than you."
Keen, who was directly behind the Lasat, drops into the first seat she sees, without any invitation. She props her feet up on a table, lounging back.
Ezra enters the tank, his eyes immediately drawn to the helmets sitting directly next to the door. "Whoa!" he comments, immediately picking Rex's helmet up.
"Hey, hey. Easy with those, son," the clone drawls.
"Oh, yeah, yeah," Ezra snarks, "I might move the dust." He sets the helmet back down, moving farther into the tank.
"How is Commander Tano?"
"Uh, well, in need of help," Ezra states, meeting the clones' eyes. "We all are. Look, we're trying to fight the Empire, but we're outnumbered, overmatched and taking a beating. We could use your help."
"Well, I'm not sure I'm much help to anyone these days. Didn't you hear?" He leans back in his seat, propping his arms behind his head, "The Emperor said the clone army has outserved its purpose and retired us. Now we spend our days just telling stories and slinging for joopas."
"This was a wasted trip. You heard the clone. He's not interested," Kanan grumbles, turning to leave.
Keen glares at him from her place, "Caleb!" she barks at him. "Get back in here!"
"You don't like the Empire, do you?" Ezra asks the clones.
"Well, the Empire certainly isn't the Republic, but you can't do anything about that."
"You could fight."
"Sorry, son," Rex replies, "My days as a soldier are over."
"Okay, well, maybe you can do something else, Rexy. We seem to find ourselves in need of a base. Ahsoka knows, just as well as I do, that there are some secret locations in the Outer Rim that you know about."
"Well, my memory isn't what it once was, but, um, there are a few spots I never bothered to report to the Empire. Look, why don't you wait outside and I'll put together a list of coordinates." The rebels, save Keen, leave the tank. Rex turns and looks at her, crossing his arms, a single eyebrow raised. "All of you wait outside."
"Awh, but I'm so drukking comfy. Do I have to go?" She sees the three pairs of eyes staring at her. "Fine!" she groans, lowering her feet to the ground. As she leaves the room, Keen touches the side of Wolffe's face, smiling at him, "It's nice to see your face again."
The clone shifts uncomfortably, grunting, "Whatever you say, General."

Rex and Kanan (my brOTP) for the "sick friends" meme.
who gets sick more often: Rex. He spent all those years on Seelos with just Gregor and Wulffe and hasn't been exposed to all the latest common virus mutations. For the first year or so he's with the Rebellion he catches every single bug that goes around. Kanan's spent enough time planet-hopping that it's more unusual for him to encounter a strain he's not used to. This means he doesn't worry as much about catching whatever Rex has.
who is the better caretaker: Rex all the way. He's used to taking care of both his Jedi and his men and he's a natural at predicting what someone will need. The few times Kanan does get sick, Rex is excellent at reading when he needs to be given some space and when he needs to be badgered to drink some liquids and take a shower.
who is the most needy when they’re sick: Kanan. He gets grumpy, but also craves being around other people. Like a cat that will flop right next to you but bite you when you try to pet them. He needs to know people care, but doesn't like anyone knowing he's needy.
who gets startled/worried every time the other sneezes: Kanan, as much as he tries to be optimistic he's still a worrier.
who stocks the house with cold medicine and orange juice: Rex, he's much better at planning ahead.
who is more careful not to spread their illness and who doesn’t care: Rex is more careful, even at his worst he doesn't want to infect anyone else. Kanan tries to be, but when he's sick he just can't bring himself to care about properly disposing of tissues and other Rebellion med center reccominded illness prevention protocol.
who gets cuddly when they’re feverish: Rex. He misses how touchy-feely he could get with his brothers and it was always comfortable and natural.
who tries to pretend they’re fine: Both of them.
who tries weird/old-fashioned remedies: They're both likely to suggest some folk-wisdom they picked up somewhere or other, of dubious authenticity. Rex is the one most likely to try the suggestions. (poor Rex)(From https://loth-cat.tumblr.com/post/160485529188/send-me-a-ship-and-ill-tell-you )

Thursday of the Twenty-Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, Priest.
Thursday of the Twenty-Sixth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green)
First Reading
Nehemiah 8:1-4a, 5-6, 7b-12
Ezra opened the book of the law, blessed the Lord, and all the people answered, Amen!
Do not be sad, and do not weep– for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law.

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 19:8, 9, 10, 11
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul; The decree of the LORD is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The command of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eye;
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; The ordinances of the LORD are true, all of them just.
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
They are more precious than gold, than a heap of purest gold; Sweeter also than syrup or honey from the comb.
R/ The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart.
Gospel Acclamation
Mark 1:15
Alleluia, alleluia.
The Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
Luke 10:1-12
Your peace will rest on him.
R/ Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, Priest
First Reading
Exodus 32:7-14
Then he spoke of exterminating them, but Moses, his chosen one, withstood him in the breach to turn back his destructive wrath.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 16:1-2a and 5, 7-8, 11
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.
Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the LORD, “My Lord are you.”O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot.
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.
I bless the LORD who counsels me; even in the night my heart exhorts me.I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.
You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.
Gospel Acclamation
Matthew 23:9b, 10b
Alleluia, alleluia.
You have but one Father in heaven;
you have but one master, the Christ!
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
Matthew 9:35-38
The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the labourers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
