There’s a lot of back and forth with these two. This mixture of moody, soft, peppy, and angry proves for a strange couple. Yet, they make it work.

They love being seen with each other – Samatoki is proud to have a piece of arm candy (ha) like Ramuda, and Ramuda feels safe and secure with his buff boyfriend around.

Most of their text messages are them not deciding on what to do for a date. Samatoki isn’t that fond of the term ‘date’ to begin with, and Ramuda wants to do all of the typical cutesy stuff you’d see in an anime. Samatoki would much rather grab some food and walk around town than go to an amusement park. This leads to a lot of play-fighting over text, with Ramuda sending a bunch of cute stickers to an unamused Samatoki. Ramuda would gift a bunch of those sticker sets to him, fully knowing that they would go unused.

When they just want to hang out, it’s usually at Samatoki’s apartment. Most of the genuinely romantic stuff is done in private – neither of them are fond or holding hands or kissing (for realises) in public. Ramuda likes to run around the spacey apartment to let off energy, happy that he can sleep in a bed here, and not on a couch.

In the beginning, there was a lack of communication. Samatoki, when serious about a relationship, doesn’t like sharing, and Ramuda’s public affection towards his fans (his onee-sans and onii-sans) got on his nerves. Even though Samatoki isn’t stupid, and he knows Ramuda well enough to know that it’s largely an act, he still hated the thought of Ramuda linking arms with someone other than himself.

That being said, Ramuda has his fair share of jealousy too… kind of. Since they’re both division leaders, they’ll both have a good amount of fame. This can only mean that Samatoki will have his own group of simps enthusiastic fans. Most of them steer clear of the guy in person, but of course there are a few that just don’t care that he could probably kill them in a few punches. Ramuda would take it upon himself to be a Samatoki bodyguard, latching onto his arm and fake-crying when someone tried to flirt with him.

Oh, and Samatoki can absolutely be needy for attention too. He loves cuddles in the morning, when neither of them are fully awake yet, and he can bury his face in Ramuda’s hair and forget about everything else. Waking up to find a pink fluffball laying on his chest makes him so happy, and he’s secretly so grateful that he can experience wholesome moments like that (even with a relatively un-wholesome guy) in amidst the chaos of the world outside their bedroom.

These two cannot keep their hands off each other.

From sending nudes at the most inopportune times to fucking in every possible time and location, there is no stopping this couple from getting each other off. Their comfort zone is Ramuda taking Samatoki inside him, but a comfort zone is there to be stepped out of, at least in this situation. Samatoki would be lying if he hadn’t thought about taking Ramuda inside him. The only thing stopping him is his asshole. He’s not too sure about putting something up there… for now.

When Samatoki gets in the mood first, he almost always picks up Ramuda, letting him wrap his legs around his waist, and then carries him to wherever Samatoki wants to get dirty today. However, when Ramuda gets in the mood first, he’s a lot more subtle about it. Most of the time. He knows that if Samatoki isn’t in the mood, then he won’t put up with any teasing, so Ramuda keeps his distance and tries to gauge what’s going on first. When he gets the green light to go ahead, Ramuda will gently put his arms around Samatoki, and try his best to giggle in a sultry way, asking if Samatoki is doing anything at the moment. Samatoki is not the most patient person in the world, so he’ll ask Ramuda to straight up ask if he wants to fuck or not, and 9 times out of 10 Ramuda will drop his act and answer back.

When Ramuda’s in his ‘natural’ state, he’s so sweet and genuine both before and during sex. His reactions are mostly soft gasps and whines, with the occasional encouraging comment. This is a beautiful contrast to Samatkoi, who starts off as a chatterbox, but gets more quiet and tense the closer he gets to climax.

Despite all that, Ramuda still has his uncontrollable horn moments, and he will amp up his whines to match. The first few times, this would have annoyed Samatoki as he had no idea what was going on (since it took him some time to decipher Ramuda’s various noises), but after few months pass, he wouldn’t mind Ramuda latching onto him, looking forward to busting a nut on his boyfriend that night.

Remember what I said about Ramuda loving Samatoki’s apartment? Ramuda also loves taking it from behind while being pressed up against the window. It’s too high up for anyone to see but Samatoki will lean forward and whisper the filthiest things in Ramuda’s ear, and he could do it until his voice got hoarse.

“Can ya see all those little dots on the street, hm? All those people? What if they all knew how much of a whiny slut Shibuya’s leader was, huh? Would ya like it?”

Ramuda was too focused on the feeling of Samatoki’s cock sliding over his prostate to give a coherent reply. He tried to clear his throat to say something, yet it just came out as a strangled moan. Training, queer youth problems and a lot of love and sweet scenes in this graphic novel that you need to add to your TBR!

Cheer Up! is adorable and wholesome and it gave me all the feels! The romance is lovely, there’s so much character development and the drama feels so realistic!

First of all, about the characters, Annie is too annoying and headstrong in the first part, but throughout the story, she managed to win my heart and realize things about herself and change for the better. I also like that she is called out for her behavior. Also, all girls of the squad are flawed and even with good intentions, they make mistakes. But they’re open to listen and learn and this is very positive.

And Bebe! Bebe’s problems seemed so realistic that I wanted to cry at times. There’s so much worry, confusion, sadness, and anger with all these new situations. I’m surprised how this short graphic novel tackled this world of emotions and difficulties she has to go through in few pages!

Among all the negative new aspects, Bebe receives lots of support from her cheering squad. The scene in which Bebe and Annie got together is so cute, there’s a lot of care and respect. And consent is cute, guys. The cheer squad is interesting and diverse, the cheer part was so cool I wished I could see a cheer team live! Made me want to make part of it. It looks so much fun!

The only thing I not enjoyed about this graphic novel is that some of the problems got solved too fast but due to the size of it, I understand what needs to be done.

Overall, I loved Cheer Up! The character’s development is amazing and the struggles are realistic, but all the support and love Bebe receives makes this story lovely. Bebe and Annie’s relationship is adorable and I just want to see more couples like this one!

He pushed his fists into his cheeks, elbows firmly on the table. This wasn’t the first time you’d seen him huff in disappointment, but his demeanour was strange. Prior to working in this particular casino, Dice would whine loudly and gesture even louder, and you expected that he’d do the exact same when you started manning the blackjack table. In fact, you found out his name when he proudly proclaimed himself as the ‘luckiest man in Shibuya’ the first time you met him.

On the days that followed, that behaviour quickly dwindled. It hadn’t even been a few weeks since you were employed here yet the contrast was something to be wary of. You’d seen Dice here and there, usually curled up to take a cat nap or causing chaos with his posse, not at all the way he was now – tired and mopey.

The word may as well have come out on autopilot – you had already given up on mentally counting his losses this session: “Bust.”

Closing time was getting closer and closer. As much as diving into bed sounded like the perfect thing after a long shift at work, whatever was going on at the other side of the table was too interesting to yawn at. It was a little disheartening to see someone so hot be in so much… despair? However, he was cute when he pouted. And it wasn’t your money. You could hear him kick his feet on the floor and slump over the table. He was close to losing all of his money, and if he knew what was good for him, then he’d call it a day and leave.

But he would absolutely not do that.

“Shiiiit. I fuckin hate busts.” His eyes noticeably flickered up and down. Though Dice had lowered his head enough for it to not be too conspicuous when he glanced at your own bust, it certainly didn’t go unnoticed by you.

Now this was interesting.

“Oh really? That’s a shame.” You replied in your best sarcastic voice. Pushing a little bit further was certainly an option, but you made him wait. “Are you ready to go again?”

“Yeah…” Dice perked up when you dealt his cards. The thrill of the game seemed to be a sure-fire way to improve his mood. He picked up his hand and you saw his fangs peek through his plump lips, which were curved into a wholesome smile.

“You never know, your luck could turn around, and you’ll get a better hand. Though, I don’t think yours could get any better.”

He held the cards so gently in his large hands, like they contained his soul, or that he could see the future in them. Maybe it was a reflection of himself; appearing to be strong and hearty on the outside but surprisingly calm and considerate on the inside.

“Hah? …Hahaha! You like my hands?” He raised his eyebrows at you, making you lose your guard ever so slightly – you couldn’t tell if he knew how attractive he really was, and how hard he made it for you to do your job properly. “Not many people understand that this is only the build-up to the big jackpot!”

He said that line every time. It wasn’t true. Many people would find this recklessness annoying, but it was more of a puppy-like naivety in your eyes.

“I see, but don’t you think that the build-up can also be fun?” Throwing him a bone wouldn’t do any harm.

“Heh.” He looked at if he was to say something, but didn’t. Maybe he didn’t want to throw the bone back yet.

The last round came and went, unsuccessfully. Not like you expected anything different.

“That was such a shitty hand…” Dice was in full defeat mode now. He wailed in defeat and plonked his head down on the table – it was hard to resist ruffling what looked like an unnaturally fluffy head of hair. It was a wonder how he kept such good care of it despite consistently gambling his money away. You wondered if he lived with anyone else, and if he ‘borrowed’ their products. But that was a conversation for when you know each other a little more.

For now, you tried to lift his mood. “No worries, Dice. I’m sure there are other things with your hands you could do better at.”

You heard him exhale, and for a brief moment his was completely still – was he thinking? He must have come to some sort of conclusion, as all of a sudden he straightened himself out and spoke clearly: “You workin’ here for a while?”

“Having a job is nice, so hopefully, yes.”

“Cool.” He stood up, throwing his two lucky dice in the air absent-mindedly, “I’ll come again then. Heheh. See ya!” It was strangely sad to see him leave, but it was nice to watch him from behind.

“Bye.”

Dice left the casino, and the thrill of his presence faded away. For now.

The next shift was already too far away.
