Rito things

Finally to the Rito. A majestic race, but extremely divided. Originally, they were all in the same clan, however this never lasted, causing a massive split between those of the different species.

In the main Rito clan, stealing is forbidden and sharing is a foreign concept- everything is for each Rito and all are secretive and keep to themselves, except for when it is Thursday, where many flock together to hunt. Teamwork is a little hard as communication isnt commonplace, and each Rito tends to show off (as pictured above!). Kills are taken back, with meat split equally, and produce is bought or foraged for by each individual.

However, once a year the Rito get together for the free-diving ceremony, where young couples (or strangers put up together) dive together to test their mettle. Couples who get through this stage are said to be dive-mates and are allowed within the clan to live together in their own perch, or are at least allowed to start constructing their own perch for two.

In other Rito clans, sharing is more commonplace, and communication is vital, since there are less members on average. There tends to be no leaders, as each member helps themselves and others, and no external clan would ever rejoin the base since their values are so different.

Thankfully, if rival clan Rito ever cross paths, it is usally cordially as the universal rule of never killing other Rito has always been accepted by every Rito there is.

Rito "perches" are wooden constructions generally hung from an overhanging cliff, or a dug into reinforced hollow of a mountain. Rito are quite good carpenters, but the masters are few and far between. It is said that the Rito have an innate desire to build these type of nests, and none require any instructions. Nesting material is found from kills, trees and other family member's feathers.

Oraments hung from the base of the hanging nests are vital since they are a form of identification, as every Rito's nest is technically sacred ground in their eyes. Others must always be invited in.

Interestingly, Rito are capable of utilising and finding dye, having been able to process the toxic Wither into dye capable of not taking over the user. Fashion dictates that a long neck be covered in many many accessories and most Rito adore collections and shiny items.

It is not unusual to find monster parts incorporated into their clothes, since they pick up items left on the ground. If you leave an item unattended too long near an outskirt clan, beware!

Althought Rito are renowned for their archery prowess, a normal role is guardian of the Rito, which requires a ceremonious clipping of the wings. These Rito are generally very tall for a Rito, and heavily set (or otherwise unable to fly normally). They wear thickset, strong armour with a bow for luck, and cover their wings to the best of their ability. Most noticable is the clawed gauntlets each wear, whichcan tear through metal and even harm rock, though they will become blunted.

Guardians of the Rito wield heavy claymore-like weapons, which are not exactly claymores since they are technically swords in their sheaths. In their normal form, they can deal a lot of damange in smashing damage, but can become broken or unsheathed to reveal a much lighter sword which additionally has a wind strike.

They also have a smaller knife, for extra protection, although it is more seen as a lucky talisman, since it is the same knife that they recieve upon their first hunting excursion (around 6 years old in human terms).

Finally, seers. Seers are said to be the mute ancestors of the Loftwings which have since been almost extinct. They have no mouth, and are treated with respect but also fear. Though sign-language they can tell great and terrible prophecies which tend to fill the audience with dread. There is a seer in every clan, but they cannot reproduce. A seer is born into a bloodline when a baby hatches to the blood moon.

Trinkets, Necklaces, 3: Whether they’re pendants, amulets, periapts, chokers, beaded strings, chains, charms, lockets or torques, “Neck Slot” type jewelry is a very common item in fiction and roleplaying. These ornaments give an immediate glance into the bearer’s personality, wealth, rank or social class and  often serves as an iconic part of that character’s look. Ranging in obviousness from a soldiers dog tags, cleric’s holy symbol or police detectives badges worn front and center over clothing, immediately visible on their chest as a clear indication of who they are, to the cliché locket containing pictures of family or lost lovers that’s worn against the skin, just over the heart. Outgoing character’s such as Phoebe Bouffette compliment their natural charisma with loud colorful costume jewelry while more reserved examples often go without, though what little ornamentation they do have is meaningful or of good quality like Katara’s heirloom choker or Annie’s half-a-locket. A locked metal torque can instantly mark the bearer a penniless slave, while a string of lustrous pearls mark their owner a flauntingly wealthy noble. Magical necklaces in fiction are powerful and mysterious from Inuyasha’s Beads of Subjugation, Dr Strange’s Eye of Agamotto or Yugi’s Millennium Puzzle. None of these necklaces are intensely magical in their own right but can serve as basis for a magical or plot relevant amulet. When a DM rolls a d100, the bog standard amulet of protection +1 they were going to give out now has a unique look and personality rather than just a mechanical benefit.

By day two of our investigation, there wasn’t much left to look into other than the gardens. We’d already searched the rest of the house and found nothing of note. On that groggy morning, however, as soon as I stepped out into the gardens, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye that struck me as abnormal.

“Link, come here.” My comrade stood to attention and came to stand beside me, on the footpath lining the sides of the zen garden. “See that?”

He followed my finger to what had caught my eye: the big footprint right in the middle of the pattern etched in the sand. His eyes widened.

A grin spread its way across my face. “What say we try getting a closer look?”

This, unfortunately, was easier said than done. Leaving our own prints behind would be tantamount to the destruction of evidence. So in order to reach the spot where the footprint was located, we would have to hop across the stones scattered throughout the zen garden. And to say that the sandals one was given when visiting the Sheikah estate and was expected to wear at all times were unsuited for this endeavour would be a gross understatement.

“Honestly...” I huffed, searching in vain for the next best place to put my toe. “There’s a footpath for a reason.” This earned a chuckle from Link, who was still two or three rocks behind me, but seemed to be struggling to only a fraction of the extent that I was.

With my attention elsewhere, I made the mistake of stepping on a stone that was barely even the size of my heel. Inevitably, my foot started to slip, and I began teetering back and forth like a broken pendulum.

“Eep!”

Just when I shut my eyes in preparation to fall, I was caught and held steady at the waist by my assistant.

My breath caught in my throat. He was leaning over me, his front curved flush against the arch of my back and his gloved hands pressed flat into my abdomen, and here I was, graceful as a swan, arms sticking out at odd angles and legs spread three feet apart.

“Are you alright?”

His smooth, demure voice in my ear startled me out of my sudden paralysis. “Yes!” I squeaked, then cleared my throat and brought my outstretched foot back in. “Yes, quite. Thank you.”

His arms left my waist, and he straightened up, putting as much distance between himself and me as there was left on the perch we shared.

“I suppose this is close enough.” I smoothed out my capelet coat before crouching down toward the sand-covered ground, careful not to let anything trail in it. Before proceeding, I breathed a deep, mind-clearing sigh. “Let’s see what we have here.”

If this had been wet sand, I would’ve had a much easier time identifying the sole responsible for this vandalism. But unfortunately, this sand was dry, so all there was to go off of was the size of the prints.

The Story Behind the ‘Sallie House’

There are a lot of haunted houses all around the world, and such structures really do spark the human imagination.

For some people haunted houses are scientific anomalies which require scientific investigation, while others regard them as centers of paranormal activity that must be revered or even feared.

Whatever the truth may be about haunted houses, it's undeniable that many of them have terrifying reputations.

Among the most notorious haunted houses in the world is the Sallie House located at 508 N. Second Street. A lot of people in Atchison, Kansas believe that the Sallie house contains evil spirits, while others believe that the entities within are simply lost souls seeking help.

Despite people's opinions about the matter, the Sallie House has become one of the most important attractions of Atchison, Kansas and has been the subject of many TV documentaries.

This simple 19th century house originally got its name due to the haunting of a little girl, who was later given the name "Sallie." The couple who owned the house believed that the little girl was trying to warn them about the evil spirits which dwelt within the house.

Due to the numerous sightings of the little girl, the haunted house became known to both local residents and investigators as "the Sallie House." Over the years however, the house began to exhibit other hauntings besides that of the little girl.

The only person who seemed to tolerate the house's peculiar characteristics was one Ethel Anderson, who lived in the house until the early 90's. Aside from Sallie appearing to Tony and Debra, numerous attacks were also carried out on anyone who lived inside the house or investigate its mysteries.

Tony Pickman, for example, sustained several injuries back when he and his family owned the house in the early 90's, while investigators who visited the house reported sustaining minor injuries, such cuts and burns, during their stay.

What's most disturbing however, is the fact that investigators of house have endured cuts and burns while gathering paranormal data from the house.
