I had the opportunity to buy a G1 clone of my random progen a few years back.

With my 10 year anniversary coming up in July, now would be the perfect time to give him the newer genes as a clean slate.

I think saddle will be the perfect secondary with the blue accents, and spines as tert so it matches the mane. Although Jester gives a similar pattern to his mane...

Comments: A dragon I bought four years or so back, when he was exceptionally cheap for a primal eyed dragon. Mostly got him as a challenge to myself to see if I could find genetics that worked with his rather random colours. He's lived in hibernal ever since. Recently I decided to dust him off, scatterscroll him to any more workable set of colours, and then regene him and find him a mate.

Only took five scatterscrolls to get colours I felt I could work with, and just in time for him to become an Auraboa (with the just-released rockbreaker gene as well), and go lurk in treetops with his fabulous wife.

He was named Silentkiller when I bought him, and his new name came about as a result of a chain of thought that can be summarized as Silentkiller → Psycho Killer by Talking Heads →  Psycho Killer, Qu'est-ce que c'est  → Psycho Quelle Heure  → Quelle, and means (more or less) ‘What’.

So I'm thinking about Ancient Gene bloat. And what staff can do to fix it. And I have no idea what they're doing. But I'm just spitballing here.

A way that they could address the fact that every single ancient has its own gene is instead to like introduce a generic version?

Not in a way that it can apply to every ancient, because it's so baked into how ancients work I don't think that'll ever happen. But with this generic blank, say Tiger Gene, you can go to the exchange shop that they're going to have for converting Baldwin modern genes into ancient genes and you can use that item as like a token to get whatever tiger gene you want.

So it's less a gene itself and more of like a prismatic token or something. It's only value and use is to be used to get a certain gene from an ancient.

And they could go really wide with this and every single gene couplet has its own generic token. So tiger, seraph, underbelly, clown, gem-bound, etc could have their own token, or they could have a primary, secondary, and tertiary token. And then you could just buy the token that you needed, because I think they're all the same price? And if they're not they should be. Then just go and get the gene from the very specific ancient shop which would always have them available for trade. As they wouldn't cycle like the marketplace does. So all you would have to do is get one of the three or however many of these tokens they want to create and take it to be redeemed at the conversion shop.

oooh hmm..i'll do a top six! two of each prim/sec/tert category! (and omg someone just sent a separate ask for ancient terts haha)

Jaguar! My all time favorite primary, always a hit for me. looks wonderful on tundras, and it does such a great job with color distribution, gives them sick eye liner, and is usually pretty fun to draw imo!

Pinstripe! (ahaha sorry dfgsfd) i just love what it does with some colors, it can be so vibrant and unique and honestly i just think it's neat C: i have had to actively stop myself from giving more dragons pinstripe since its kind of a pain to brew fdgsdf

Eye spots! Honestly not sure what it is about the pattern but i just lovely it..vaguely mothy, the circles are neat. pairs well with basically anything! it's similar to jaguar, but less overwhelming as a secondary compared to rosette which i really like. (though i do like rosette too! but just not as much haha)

Seraph! making my dragons into the angels that they are <3 just love the feathery texture, it's always a cute look to me!! and especially for tiny snapper wings haha but it works for everyone c:

Runes! love the little sparkliness and especially love how it colors dragons horns! we need more terts that do that (glimmer and okapi were totally contenders for here too tbh). it always makes for a cute touch on dragons, and is a good magical looking gene since these guys are generally magical beings after all! as much as i love animal-y ones too, if i have to go for a non-animalistic gene this is definitely what i want c:

Peacock!! accent colors my beloved! again, we need more terts that play with accent colors. and also more terts that are more wing-based. peacock is great on both accounts though! i like that it plays into the Fake Eyes thing that some animals have in nature too, but it's also such a vibe c:

how i found her.. and her end goal!

this is the dragon i have saved as "storm derg". she's going to be an expensive project (most of her apparel are old festival items), but i think she's worth it. she'll be our clan's tech expert and leader of our engineering team!

Image Two: The same female skydancer, but her appearance has drastically changed. Her eyes are primal lightning. Her genes are now jupiter primary, seraph secondary and glimmer tertiary. She is wearing the Dancing Conductor accent, and the Veteran's Leg and Shoulder Scars, the Voltvolley Implements, and the Lightning's Charm apparel pieces. She is now much lighter than before, with an even gradient from feet to wing, and there is lightning arcing across her body.
