A Place to Call Home is over 50K words long. I have the first ten chapters complete. I have most of the rest of the story written with four incomplete scenes, one that needs a major edit, and six scenes left to write.
I’m hoping I can finish this by Seblaine Week in August so I can use either the first or the last chapter as my contribution for the free day.
But I feel the writer’s block coming back and I am desperately staving it off. I can see the finish line for this fic that I started in 2017 and I just want to get there so badly.

there's a room where the light won't find you
fandom: glee pairing: blaine/sebastian words: 1307 summary: Blaine finds himself calling Sebastian after his presidential win. Seblaine Week 2017 - Day 4: Politics/Running for Office
AO3 link
“Hey, this is Kurt-”
Blaine hangs up. He’s heard Kurt’s voicemail message so many times now he has it memorized; not just the words but the intonations as well, every little detail to the point where there wasn’t even any comfort in hearing Kurt’s voice anymore. It’s just a machine.
He knew the election was tonight, right? Blaine had at least managed to bring that up in the handful of conversations they’d managed to have this past week. Though, given the one-sided nature of those conversations, there’s a chance Kurt didn't actually hear him if he did.
That wasn’t fair. Of course Kurt wanted to gush about his new job, it was amazing. And it was probably keeping him really busy too. Blaine couldn’t expect him to be available to talk whenever he needed him.
But Kurt could at least text, right? Just to find out whether he’d won.
I did all of this for him and now he’s not here.
I did all of this for him and he doesn’t even care.
Blaine knows loneliness, knows what it’s like to be starving with it, but he can’t remember ever feeling quite this hollow.
He looks for Sam, considering finding some excuse to talk to him again. He likes Sam, something he somehow hadn’t realized until tonight. For a moment, talking to him had made life at McKinley without Kurt seem possible.
Blaine spots him, snuggled up in a booth with Brittany. That looked like trouble, but he doubts Sam would appreciate an interruption, no matter how friendly he’d been earlier.
He takes out his phone, dialing automatically.
“Hey, this is Ku-”
Blaine hangs up, but then without any input from his brain his fingers immediately hit Kurt’s name again. He ends the call before it can go through, because there is in fact a limit to how pathetic he’s willing to be. That’s good to know.
He scrolls idly through his contacts just so he has something to do. Pretending to be busy looking at his phone is better than just standing there in the middle of the party. Not that anyone’s paying much attention to him anyway.
His eyes catch on a name and he stops, thumb hovering above the screen. It’s a bad idea. He knows it’s a bad idea. But if there’s one person he can count on to pick up, this is it. Was it. He doesn’t know anymore.
He hits call for curiosity’s sake. That’s all.
The line rings long enough for him to doubt himself, to question what the hell he’s doing. Curiosity isn’t enough to justify this, and loneliness isn’t either. In fact, there’s no excuse he can think of that would stand up to scrutiny (to Kurt).
He just about to hang up when-
“Hey, Killer. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
It sounds off, tinged with a forced casualness that Blaine has trouble associating with Sebastian, who always had a way of making all the over the top things he said sound natural. But he can’t be that surprised; if Sebastian called him out of nowhere for the first time in months he’s sure he’d sound weird too. Well, he’d like to think he wouldn’t pick up at all, but since he’s the one actually calling it’s safe to say that’s a lie.
“Congratulate me. You are now talking to the student body president of McKinley High.”
Silence. Blaine knows Sebastian must have a million questions, ones he wouldn’t be able to answer even if he wanted to, but he’s hoping that he can depend on him for this one thing. To just take what’s being offered and act like this is normal. To make it normal.
“Congratulations. I guess the collective population of McKinley has a few functioning brain cells between them after all.”
Blaine laughs, more out of relief than anything else. “I’d be offended on my school’s behalf, but I did win on a campaign of hair gel and stripping so…”
“It’s sad that I can’t tell if you’re joking.”
“Oh, I’m dead serious. Freedom to gel is a fundamental right on par with the freedom of speech.”
Sebastian laughs, the sound bright and uncomplicated, and Blaine savors it.
“And you delivered those words of wisdom while stripping? Because that’d definitely win my vote.”
“My running mate did the stripping actually. His abs are way better than mine.”
“I don’t know if I believe that. I’d have to see them to compare.”
Blaine probably shouldn’t be smiling, but wildly inappropriate flirting was Sebastian’s normal and normal was what he wanted. And okay, he might have forgotten how nice it was. To be flirted with.
“Sorry, you’re just gonna have to trust me.”
“Yeah, I guess I will.”
There’s a lull in the conversation and Blaine should probably let it end, just leave it as this nice little moment between former friends. He could call it closure or something. Tying up loose ends.
But he really doesn’t want to.
“So who’s in the running at Dalton this year? Nick making a bid?”
Sebastian snorts. “It’s cute you think I care enough to know that.”
“Really? I thought you’d be into politics.”
“Politics, sure, but student government’s just a waste of time.” He seems to realize what he’d just said and continues, “At Dalton anyway. I mean if the Warbler’s council is anything to go by the student council is probably in place to prevent change from happening. But I’m sure you’ll be able to do some good at McKinley. If anyone can turn that cesspool around, it’s you.”
It was almost like Sebastian had realized he’d been tactless and tried to apologize. Huh.
“Thanks for that ringing endorsement. And hey, if last year’s anything to go by, if anyone can bring change to Dalton, it’s you.”
“Yeah, because last year went so well.”
The memory of the parking garage and the reason they’re not friends anymore hangs awkwardly for a moment before Sebastian says, “I’ll just do a write in vote for you, campaign to get you elected president of both schools. I bet your promise to bring hair gel and stripping to the masses will go over really well at Dalton.”
Blaine laughs softly. “Then I’d have to come back, right?”
“That’s the plan.”
“I miss it sometimes,” he admits. “A lot of the time. Even after… you know, everything.”
“Well trust me, the Warblers would kill to have you back.”
“I know. That’s kinda the problem.”
There’s a moment of silence, then Sebastian says, “They’re really sorry. For, you know, everything.”
“They are, huh.”
“Yeah, they are.”
Blaine smiles, soft, safe because Sebastian can’t see it. “Good to know.”
Sebastian clears his throat a little, brushing past the moment, and says, “Really though, congratulations. I’ll buy you a celebratory drink sometime.”
“How about now?” Blaine says, before he has time to think about it. Hearing Sebastian’s voice isn’t enough; he wants to see him.
“Seriously?”
“Did you already have plans?”
“Nothing I can’t cancel. But isn’t there a victory party you should be attending?”
Blaine looks around the crowded restaurant, at all his classmates celebrating. They’re probably more excited about the weekend then his win, but he can’t fault them that. It’s not like he’s put much effort into getting to know them. In any case, he doubts they’ll miss him.
“I did, but it’s pretty much over. You wanna meet me at Scandals?”
“I - okay. Sounds good.”
“Great! I’ll see you there.”
He hangs up, buzzing with anticipation. But that’s fine, normal, nothing to feel guilty about. He’d won, and he’s going to go celebrate with a friend. They can be friends again.
He knows Kurt wouldn’t approve, but Kurt’s not here. He’s not even picking up his phone.
It was just only a drink. What’s the worst that could happen?

Seblaine One Shot: Pretender to the Throne
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Blaine Anderson & Sebastian Smythe
Characters: Blaine & Sebastian
Words: 650
Summary: Blaine has no problem signing a prenup before he marries Sebastian. He’s just surprised about why.
“Blaine, say something.”
“Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”
Sebastian was beginning to worry. In all of the years he and Blaine had known each other, he had never explained exactly “how rich” his family was. There were a few other things he had left out as well. It was a little late, but Sebastian now realized that sitting in his lawyer’s office with their prenuptial agreement in front of them was probably not the best time to drop this on his fiancée.
“Killer, talk to me. You can ask me anything.”
“Ok, ok, ok, why are you the Pretender to the Throne?”
Oh good, Sebastian told himself. At least he said actual words “I’m the Pretender to the Throne because the Monarchy has been eliminated in France.”
“So, if France were ever for some reason restore the Monarchy, you would be..?”
“King Louis the Twentieth of France. Yes, but Blaine that’s never going to happen. I’m kind of surprised that this is what you’re freaked out by and not the fact that I get the last of my six billion dollar trust fund next year." Blaine got up from the table and started to walk in circles. Sebastian knew him well enough to know that wasn’t a good thing “Blaine..?”
“Do you realize what would happen if you were to become King? Huh, do you?!”
Sebastian had no idea where Blaine was going with this “We'd live at Versailles and have to get rid of all of the guillotines?”
Blaine sat back down and sighed (overdramatically in Sebastian’s opinion) “Sebastian, be serious.”
He began to laugh, even though he knew it would piss Blaine off “I’m the one that is serious. You’re the one being ridiculous.” He reached over so he could hold Blaine’s hand  “You want to tell me what’s really going on?”
“Why didn’t you tell me about all of this? And yes, I’m really talking about the money.”
“It's not something you just blurt out. Hey, I’m a multi-billionaire.”
“But we’ve been together a long time, and I always knew your family had money. Hell, I went to your dad when we first started talking about marriage and told him to draw up a prenup just in case.”
“When?”
It took Blaine a minute to think about it “Probably about a month before you proposed. Why are you laughing?”
“Because my father asked me to lunch about a month before I asked you and started drilling me on why I hadn’t asked you to marry me yet. Then he took me ring shopping. Hell, I think he only let me wait a month because it took that long to arrange for the private island so I could propose on a beach at sunset like you had always dreamed of. You do realize that you basically asked for his blessing?”
Blaine leaned back in his chair and shook his head “I’m really am being ridiculous, aren’t I?”
“I am not going to answer that question." Sebastian smiled and handed Blaine the pen. He was about to sign the papers when stopped and looked his fiancée in the eye.
“Before I sign this I want an honest answer. How many Queen Blaine jokes have you come up with?”
“Only a couple" Then after Blaine gave him his Stop shitting me look, Sebastian admitted “27″.
“So, when you become the Not-Pretender King Louis, I can have a different title. Oh, can I be the Count of Monte Cristo?”
“Yes, you can be the Not-Pretend Count of Monte Cristo.”
He signed the papers, but wouldn’t give them to Sebastian “I’ll give you these you after you promise me something.”
“Ok?”
“At no time during our reception will you say Let them eat cake.”
Sebastian was going to remind Blaine that the Queen had said that, but he realized that if he was going to be a good husband he needed to learn to pick his battles. Especially considering what happened to the husband of the last Queen of France.

The One With the Enervation
Date: May 22nd, 2017
Location: Blaine’s school & Seblaine’s apartment
Who: Blaine Anderson & Sebastian Smythe
Notes: Blaine wears himself too thin so Sebastian takes him home to take care of him.
en·er·va·tion /ˌenərˈvāSH(ə)n/ noun a feeling of being drained of energy or vitality; fatigue. "a sense of enervation"
Blaine Anderson:
To say it had been an incredibly long few weeks and that Blaine was exhausted would be two vast understatements. Between work, school, Sebastian’s health, and his secret second life as Nightbird, Blaine was bound to collapse any moment from exhaustion.
That’s what nearly happened one day while he was in the library with one of his classmates, discussing their lesson plan and future lesson plans they’d like to have in their own classrooms when he suddenly began to feel out of it. His mind was hazy and the room felt like it was spinning. It had happened to him a few times before, he’d gotten to his breaking point when spreading himself too thin and he would faint. He would wake up with his ex-husband hovering over him and trying to wake him up, having no recollection of what happened.
He slapped at his face gently as the girl next to him asked if he was okay. He assured her that he was fine, he had just felt faint for a moment. She didn’t buy he was fine, judging by the way all of the color completely washed away from his skin. Assuring her he was fine once more, Blaine stood up to show her and ended up on the floor, his legs weakening under his weight. That’s when she suggested they call Sebastian to come get him. Blaine insisted they shouldn’t bother him and tried to go about his business.
It was about five minutes after the girl had left that he’d gotten a text from his boyfriend, causing him to sigh and roll his eyes.
Sebastian Smythe:
Although there had been multiple occasions where Sebastian could tell Blaine was wearing himself thin, he didn’t realize the severity until it was clearly too late. Blaine had nearly passed out from pure exhaustion. Sebastian felt horribly for not having paid more attention when they were at home and Blaine had left early for his morning classes.
After having received a call from a concerned classmate/friend followed by a mild text argument, Sebastian made the executive decision to pick Blaine up from school early and take him home. The same way Blaine had taken care of him after his epileptic episode, it was time for Sebastian to step up to the plate. He was more than ready to be the boyfriend Blaine needed.
Only minutes after Blaine had agreed to be picked up, Sebastian raced over with a speedy taxi although he wished he could’ve just sped over on foot. He’d told Blaine to wait for him inside the school but he pointed out his boyfriend to the taxi driver. “Goddammit, Blaine...” Sebastian growled under his breath as the car pulled up in front of Blaine who was sitting on a stoop that led into the school. “Hey, stoop kid, I told you to wait inside!” He told him, jogging up to Blaine and kneeling down to meet him. One glance and he could tell Blaine was sick.
Blaine Anderson:
The last thing Blaine had wanted to do was worry his boyfriend. He’d been through enough and had enough stress on him between having such a bad seizure and focusing to write his article about Nightbird. No matter how much he insisted he was fine, Sebastian wouldn’t take no for an answer.
With a heavy sigh, Blaine gathered his things from the library and gave in, going outside to wait for Sebastian. He didn’t want to make the other search for him, it was bad enough he was coming all this way to get him when he could literally make it home himself. He sat there with his head in his hands, trying to take some deep breaths. The longer he sat there the more tired he felt. When he heard Sebastian’s voice he looked up and raised his eyebrows, giving a half smile. “And I told you not to come get me.” He chuckled before moving to stand up, swaying a little and losing his balance and stumbling off the stairs a little.
Sebastian Smythe:
Sebastian luckily didn't need to use his powers to be quick enough to catch his falling boyfriend. “You're a feisty one even when you're sick,” he teased, wrapping an arm around the smaller man's waist and helping him into the taxi. Once they were seated, Sebastian placed his hand against Blaine's forehead. “You're warm.” With the click of his tongue, Sebastian pulled Blaine in to rest against him. “You've been overdoing it lately, killer. It's straight to bed with you when we get home.” Sebastian spoke in a playfully stern manner, serious though he wanted to be clear that he wasn't upset. Since Blaine was still awake and talking, Sebastian wasn't extremely worried-- especially now that they were on the way home.
Still, Sebastian needed to remain vigilant tonight and if that meant skipping the rest of the work day to focus on Blaine then by god, he was going to do just that. Already Sebastian was thinking of making some of Blaine's favorite dishes-- that were also easy to eat when sick-- so he could cook up a storm while the other was getting his rest.
Blaine Anderson:
Blaine chuckled when Sebastian called him feisty, crinkling his nose as he was led into the taxi. With a heavy sigh, he leaned his full weight into his boyfriend and closed his eyes for a moment before letting out a soft whine. “I’m not warm, I’m fine,” he protested through a yawn, his body feeling extremely heavy as it thrummed with exhaustion. “Alright, alright, I’ll go to bed. But you have to stay with me.” The shorter bargained, feeling that if he could keep Sebastian in bed with him he would be able to rest without worrying about the other.
“I almost fainted today.” He confessed, though the other already knew, his face scrunching up into a frown. “I don’t like the way that feels.” Blaine turned his face to nuzzle against Sebastian’s neck in an attempt to get closer. “I wonder if it is similar to when you have a seizure.” He mumbled, raising his eyebrows. “I suppose I’ve never told you this about myself, hm? That when I get overly tired I tend to faint. The last time it happened, Kurt told me I hit my head and was out for a concerning amount of time. Thankfully nothing bad.” He let out a bitter laugh. “He didn’t even bother calling 9-1-1 or anything, he just let me stay out until I woke up. I took myself to the doctor when I couldn’t get rid of the headache it’d given me.” Blaine rolled his eyes to himself, thinking of the time he’d gone to Santana and told her about the event, she told him then it was way past time to kick his husband to the curb.
Sebastian Smythe:
“Of course I’ll stay with you,” Sebastian promised. He’d stay with Blaine until he was asleep and then do everything in his power to make sure everything at home was taken care of. With him being the Flash, everything could be done rather quickly, however, so Sebastian was looking forward to spending a lot of time with his recovering boyfriend in bed.
He listened quietly as Blaine told him how this wasn’t a first-time occurrence. When Blaine revealed that it had happened previously in Kurt’s presence wherein the latter did nothing to help in such a concerning situation, Sebastian didn’t feel an ounce of surprise. Instead, all he felt was anger for the man that Blaine once called "husband”. Sebastian swore under his breath and huffed, thinking of leaving another fiery bag of dog poo on Kurt’s front door when he had the time. “I won’t let that happen to you, Blaine. If you’re not feeling better after some sleep, we’ll go to the doctor to get you checked out. But hopefully it won’t come to that.” He rubbed Blaine’s back as he assured him, chewing on the inside of his lip.
Blaine was only a little sick and Sebastian was already so worried; was this how Blaine felt whenever he was having a seizure or a dizzy spell? Sebastian made a mental note to do his best to not give Blaine any reason to worry in the future. “I’m mostly dizzy before a seizure and then have an awful headache afterwards; it’s not… the worst, I guess. I don’t know. I feel like it’s worse for you since you have to watch me have it.”
Blaine Anderson:
Blaine smiled to himself as he nuzzled his face against Sebastian’s neck, humming softly. He was feeling more content already. “You’re such a good guy, Seb. Mm’lucky to have you.” Sebastian was such a better boyfriend to him than Kurt ever was as his husband. “You’re like this really bright silver lining after being in a dark, cold, cave for so many years.” He mumbled tiredly against the taller’s skin as he took a deep breath.
Nodding gently, Blaine sighed. “Fainting feels dizzy at first and then I black out for a little bit. It’s definitely not as bad as a seizure but I imagine the first part feels similar.” The shorter yawned as he frowned, thinking of the times he’d watched his boyfriend have a seizure and how scary it was. “Watching it is awful, I hate seeing you like that. It’s...really scary.” He explained, shaking his head gently almost as if trying to shake the image from his mind.
Sebastian Smythe:
A fond smile graced Sebastian's lips as he listened to how Blaine described him. His boyfriend had such a way with words, even on the verge of passing out. "More like I'm the light at the end of the tunnel," Sebastian boasted, thinking rather highly of himself-- especially when compared next to Kurt. "And that's a cave or tunnel we're keeping you far, far away from for as long as I can help it."
Sebastian frown mirrored Blaine's as they both thought back to the times whenever Sebastian had suffered a seizure. Sure, Sebastian was a bit scared leading up to the episode but blacking out made everything a bit easier to cope with for him. He couldn't even imagine the wreck he'd be if he had to watch Blaine suffer the same fate. "Well, hopefully the dosage of meds I'm taking will keep me from having anymore of those seizures. I can't have you worrying and stressing over me when I'm trying to take care of you," Sebastian claimed with resolution, pressing a kiss to the shorter man's forehead. "Rest your eyes and I'll let you know when we're home, okay?
Blaine Anderson:
“Mmkay,” Blaine mumbled as he settled a little more against Sebastian. His entire body was buzzing with exhaustion and he couldn’t relax. Shifting a little bit as the cab turned a corner, Blaine whined. His tiny body was extremely tense and uncomfortable- it was beyond exhausted by the time they reached home.
The shorter was quiet as they made their way up to their apartment, only making pitiful sounds when he moved a certain way that his body disapproved of. Once they were inside, Blaine made his way into the kitchen, rubbing at his eyes as he opened up the fridge to get a bottle of water. “Gonna grab water and then-” he paused as he pushed the door closed, the dizziness that he’d been feeling the whole day increasing. He was feeling worse with every passing moment, he felt feverish. He was going to faint. “Seb,” He called out as he opened his eyes, his vision going dark. “I’m gonna-” He dropped the bottle and moved to sit on the floor to make sure he didn’t hurt himself more than necessary if he actually passed out. A few more moments passed and his hearing faded out before he passed out completely on the floor of the kitchen.
Sebastian Smythe:
Sebastian didn't like Blaine moving around on his own but he'd managed to make it through the lobby just fine so a trip to the kitchen should've been alright-- or so Sebastian had assumed. While Blaine had made his way to the refrigerator, Sebastian had been rummaging through the pantry looking for some of Blaine's snacks that he could enjoy in bed. When he heard his boyfriend's warning, Sebastian stopped all he was doing to clamber down to the kitchen floor where Blaine had seated himself. "Whoa, hey," Sebastian put an arm around the other man's frame to hold him up and before he could say anything else, Blaine had passed out.
"Blaine? Babe? Can you hear me?" Sebastian asked with urgency, his free hand gently slapping at Blaine's pale cheek. "C'mon, babe, talk to me," he chewed on the inside of his lip as he looked around the kitchen in futility, searching for something-- anything-- to help him. His eyes landed on the dropped bottle of water lying on the kitchen floor and Sebastian carefully maneuvered his boyfriend against his body to free up his hands. Quickly opening up the water bottle, he splashed some water onto Blaine's face, careful not to get it into his nose. He didn't know if this was proper first aid for someone who had fainted but Sebastian held his breath as he hoped it would work.
Blaine Anderson:
What felt like hours to Blaine was only minutes in reality before the shorter came to, the water helping to wake him. “Wh-huh?” He asked, feeling disoriented as his eyes fluttered open. His body buzzed as it usually did when he’d wake up from fainting. “Where-” Blaine’s brow furrowed, wiping at his face as he tried to sit up a little straighter. “What happened? Did I faint?” He looked to Sebastian, reaching for his hand. “Seb...I’m sorry.”
He felt really guilty at that moment, and embarrassed. “I'm sorry, this is all my fault.” He looked around a little as his consciousness was coming back, he noted they were on the floor. “I didn’t fall on you did I? I didn’t hurt you…” He asked, looking at his boyfriend concerned.
Sebastian Smythe:
"No, no, don't be sorry," Sebastian assured his boyfriend that everything was fine. "You kind of sat down before you fainted; you probably knew it was coming… I should've, too." Frowning as he looked over his boyfriend's features for visual indications that he was truly alright, Sebastian took it upon himself to hoist Blaine into his arms bridal-style. It wasn't very difficult considering Sebastian's strength but the guy was already pint-sized. "It's off to bed with you, mister," he declared, gathering up the water bottle and some snacks in Blaine's lap as he carried him to their room.
"You're on bedrest until Doctor Smythe says it's alright for you to go. Maybe if you're feeling better tomorrow the good doctor will perform a very thorough exam on you," he joked suggestively. "But tonight is all about some good old fashioned R and R."
Blaine Anderson:
Blaine pouted as he let himself be picked up. He didn’t like to be babied; he liked taking care of people. “Seb, I can walk,” he whined, barely protesting as he rested his head on Sebastian’s shoulder. A small grin tugged at his tired mouth as the suggestive statement left Sebastian’s mouth. “I’m sure a thorough exam would do me some good.” Blaine chuckled tiredly as Sebastian placed him down on their bed.
“But, for real, I’m fine. I’m just a little tired,” he said, struggling to even kick off his shoes due to how exhausted his body was. He knew better than to let himself get to this point. He would be out of order for at least two days and Sam and Santana would be left to watch over the city themselves. He felt guilty. “I’m s’pposed to meet Santana tonight. Can you let her know I’m sick?” He knew there was no way Sebastian would leave him long enough to properly notify the pair of his absence.
Sebastian Smythe:
Sebastian rolled his eyes at the mention of Santana, because of course even while sick in bed Blaine would worry about his friends rather than his own well-being. After helping Blaine get his shoes off and setting them aside, Sebastian pulled the blankets up to tuck his boyfriend into bed. "Tell you what-- if you promise you'll actually try to get some rest, I'll give what's-her-face a courtesy call, okay? No rest, then no call to the devil incarnate." He gave Blaine a stern look that seemed to melt away as they made eye contact. There was no way Sebastian could actually be even remotely assertive when looking at Blaine's cute face.
He sat on the edge of the bed next to Blaine and leaned over to press a quick kiss to his forehead and another to his lips. "I'll even sweeten the deal for you here: you'll get to have me all to yourself in bed, for as long as you want. So what do you say, B? Do we have a deal?"
Blaine Anderson:
Blaine sighed softly, knowing that there was no arguing with Sebastian on the matter so it was in his and the city’s best interest to follow his orders of resting. It didn’t sound so bad anyway-- an entire night or two at home doing nothing but resting with his boyfriend at his side and pretending nothing else was going on in the world was extremely appealing. He’d deal with the consequences later. “Okay, okay, deal.” He smiled a little against Sebastian’s lips as he returned the kiss.
“Will you just turn off my phone before you c’mere?” He asked, pulling back the covers a little and patting the spot next to him. “If we don’t, she’ll probably call me and bug me about not meeting them.”
Sebastian Smythe:
With Sebastian satisfied with his boyfriend's answer, he made a quick call to Santana and kept the conversation short. He told her that Blaine was sick and the two could swap old lady recipes on another day. He didn't give Santana time to respond, hanging up immediately and turning off the phone. After placing it somewhere to be forgotten about, Sebastian got under the covers and snuggled up next to him.
"Better?" he asked with a smile, wrapping an arm around Blaine and bringing him in close. "Need you to get some rest, B."
Blaine Anderson:
Blaine chuckled softly to himself, knowing that Santana was probably cursing both him and Sebastian for just bailing on his Nightbird duties for the night. But...they’d managed without him before and they would again. Law enforcement was there for a reason after all. Blaine settled down into the bed, cuddling up close in Sebastian’s arms as he let his body relax, letting out a deep breath. “Mmm, much better.”
Nuzzling his face into Sebastian’s neck, Blaine hummed happily, feeling comfortable and content. This spot had become everything he believed the word “home” to feel like and it would never get old. “Love you so much.” He whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to whatever skin he could reach.
Sebastian Smythe:
Sebastian's smile only broadened when Blaine reached up to kiss him; it was obvious that Blaine was awfully tired. "I love you too-- so much," he said back in a quiet voice. With his hand resting upon Blaine's back, he rubbed up and down in a soothing fashion in hopes of lulling him to sleep.
"The sooner you sleep, the sooner you'll wake up and eat dinner… I plan on cooking up a storm while you sleep this away." Sebastian pressed a soft kiss to the top of his boyfriend's head and settled a bit more in bed; once he knew Blaine was in a deep sleep, he'd sneak out and make something for him to eat. Maybe he'd stay for just a bit longer, just to enjoy this closeness-- this amazing feeling of not wanting to be anywhere else but right here with Blaine.
Blaine Anderson:
“Mm, love when you cook.” He mumbled against Sebastian as he yawned yet another time before settling finally so he could fall asleep. “Don’t leave too soon, though.” He tightened his arms around the other. He could feel every inch of his body already beginning to relax and recharge just by being in Sebastian’s arms.
It didn’t take him much longer before he was fast asleep, his body and mind at ease and recharging from the exhausting days he’d endured.
Sebastian Smythe:
Sebastian gladly obliged; he stayed well after Blaine had drifted off to sleep. It was healing for him as well to be so close with him. Dinner and the like could wait until later since it seemed that his mere presence was the best antidote for Blaine at this moment. It was reassuring to him that just by being there for Blaine, he could actually see him feeling and getting better. Out of all the times they’d been together, it was moments like this that reassured Sebastian the most that they were both exactly where they belonged: with each other.

Fic Writer’s Year in Review
@areyouscarletcold mentioned me in her version of this, and I don’t know if that counts as an invitation for me to do it as well, but that’s where I’m heading now. Thanks for that again!
General fic stats for 2018
The total word count is 275,996 but it counts the entirety of i just wanna have fun and (get rowdy), which is  41,213. I’d wrapped up that one in May, so I’d only charge about half of it. Meaning we’re down to 255k, roughly. Wow.
I’ve posted 19 works in 2018.
Most popular fic (by kudos):
i just wanna have fun and (get rowdy). AKA the first part of the Arrowverse queer groupchat AU. No surprise here.
My favourite fic to write:
running it up hero. It’s a rewrite of the Flash episode “Family of Rogues”, only that it’s set in the Teen Wolf universe. Here, Liam Dunbar is the Flash, Theo Raeken is Captain Cold and the Dread Doctors take the place of Lewis. It’s got Coldflash as the endgame, only that, here, it’s Thiam.
It’s slipped out of me so easily, didn’t put up any fights, and I got to combine two of my favourite things - Teen Wolf and The Flash. I had so much fun mixing up the the stories!
Funniest fic:
The we’re all somewhere in the middle series (the groupchat AU). There’s no contest for it.
Fluffiest fic:
God, that’s a tough one. I can’t just choose a single one, so here are the top three:
1. a sentimental feeling when you hear. It’s a gen Teen Wolf fic where Scott and Stiles celebrate Christmas together for the first time. Stiles is Jewish, so it’s his first Christmas in general, and since Scott celerbates it without his mum for the first time ever, Stiles has decided to make it a Great One(TM). Cue many many Christmas traditions and a cute present!
2. memories on the wall. Again, a gen one, but this time it’s The Flash. It’s the relationship that Joe and Barry have told through the times they hear one another sing.
3. only a man in a funny red sheet. God, this has actually been the only Shadowhunters fic I have written in 2018? It’s, of course, Saphael. They discuss their autism and also comic books.
Saddest fic:
free fallin’ in the jungle lights. The sequel to my big Thiam fic, but this time it’s from Theo’s point of view. He’s had a hard life and is still struggling with it, so of course the tone of the fic isn’t a happy one. I can’t wait to finish it.
Most challenging fic to write:
before you i had nowhere to run to. This was a challening one because it was a ship I never wrote for before (Faberry) and also dealt with things I only have second-hand experience with. I feared I might be accidentally ableist and was very careful about how to write what.
Fic I’m proudest of writing:
buy and sell gravity! It’s the longest thing I ever wrote and if I remember correctly, also the first thing I ever wrote for Thiam or Teen Wolf in general. It opened many new possibilities.
Least popular fic:
By hits, it’s  a sentimental feeling when you hear, but that makes sense - it’s a gen one and also only, like, two weeks old.
By kudos it’s no difference to me, but that’s also logical given that it’s gen. Somehow, fandoms don’t care that much about those.
Honourable mentions:
like a new kid at school - it’s the first Seblaine thing I wrote in a while!
i will be your sword and shield - it’s basically just reflecting on how Scott and Stiles are each others’ anchors, goddammit.
General writing reflections:
I didn’t even feel like I wrote that much during 2018? I had a lot of stuff going on with working in the beginning of the year and having my bachelor exams during the second half, so I figured it’d be a way lower wordcount. Turns out, it’s the highest one (at least since I got ao3) and also twice as much as 2017. Incredible.
This year was also the one where I finally jumped onto the trian of Teen Wolf fics, both reading- and writing-wise, and it made me appreciate the show and its characters so much more. I’m so happy about it.
My writing developed in the emotional area - I’m way better at reflecting on emotions now than I was a year ago, which means the next thing to tackle is physical movement. Let’s go 2019!

17 things about 2017 that weren’t total shit
2017 was a rough year from a general life perspective. But I guess not everything about my 2017 was complete shit.
My NYC trip in June
Including seeing Bandstand for the first time
Seeing Great Comet for the first time
Seeing Bandstand for the second time.
Seeing Great Comet for the second time
Getting a real person job.
New friends at my real person job.
Getting barred
Finally having (almost) all of my books in one place.
Finally having my own place.
An incredibly successful Seblaine Week.
That one day I slept for about 14 hours without being sick.
 Old friendships maintained and strengthened.
Joining a book club that got me out of my reading comfort zone.
Finally finding books I really enjoyed reading.
All of you wondrous lovelies
Did i mention Great Comet?

Seblaine Week 2017  Day 3 Broadway AU
Tumblr media
When he is kicked out of NYADA and Kurt breaks off their engagement, Blaine goes to London, to visit a long lost aunt, and enrolls in some acting and music classes there.  On a dare, he auditions for a west end show and gets a part.  One part turns two, then three, and so on.
Tumblr media
After the disgrace of the Warblers, in his senior year, plus helping Blaine propose to Kurt Hummel of all people, Sebastian returns to Paris.  Without his Father’s influence, and missing performing, he continues to study dancing.  A minor injury costs him a career on the stage himself, but he begins choreographing and working with the dancers of various Parisian stages.
Tumblr media
With his ten year high school graduation coming up, and an invitation from the Warblers to return for a mini Warbler reunion, Blaine returns to New York and auditions for a Broadway show, landing a major roll.
Tumblr media
Sebastian has no intention of returning for something as silly as a ten year high school reunion, but the Warbler reunion is tempting for a visit.  But his father’s health brings him back to the US, to New York, where he can get the best care, for a while.  With his impressive CV from Paris, and the work he’s done there, Sebastian lands a job choreographing a new Broadway show.
Tumblr media
The first day of rehearsals, Blaine and Sebastian are surprised to cross paths this way.  It stirs up a lot of old feelings and they spend weeks of rehearsals reminiscing and getting to know each other once again over cups of coffee and walks around New York city.
Tumblr media
The more things change, the more they seem to have stayed the same.
Tumblr media
Opening night, Blaine is flawless...
Tumblr media
...and Sebastian is too busy being completely absorbed in Blaine’s performance, standing in the wings, and practically following along.

CALL FOR SEBLAINE WEEK 2021 THEMES
Tumblr media
Hello, Seblaine folks.
The most wonderful time of the year, Seblaine Week 2021, will be held in August. It is once again time for theme submissions, so please suggest what themes you’d like to see/work on/read about this year, in this Google forms here.
There are only five (5) spaces provided but don’t worry, you can send in as many responses as many times are you’d like. Submissions will be open from April 1st, 2021 til April 10th, 2021.
However, please be mindful that the themes from the past three years (2017 - 2020) won’t be repeated. Below are the themes from Seblaine Weeks 2017 through 2020. All other themes save for these are fair game:
Movie adaptations
Soulmarks
Elopement/Running away
Royal wedding
Dragons
Secret affairs/Fake dating
Enemies to Friends to Lovers/Exes to Lovers
Royal Families
Season/Plot rewrite
Accidental Marriage/Dating
Finish Your WIP
Roommates
College
Modern Retelling
Power Couple
Hurt/Comfort
Dalton
Friends with Benefits
Please be mindful that theme suggestions shouldn’t be hyper-specific, like, “Blaine was a freshman and Sebastian was a new transfer student at Dalton”. It could simply be a High School AU.
Or-
“Sebastian likes baking and works as a barista and Blaine comes in as a customer” could just be Bakery AU or Coffeeshop AU.
This is to give creative freedom to our wonderful content creators once themes are finalized.
So, go forth and suggest your desired themes, fellow Seblainers. The world is your oyster.
xoxo.

for your eyes only
fandom: glee pairing: blaine/sebastian words: 1852 summary: Sebastian shows up uninvited to the McKinley Sadie Hawkins dance. Seblaine Week 2017 - Day 2: Spies/Undercover
AO3 link
Blaine is ninety percent sure Sam decided they should tell Finn about the Warblers during the dance so that they’ll be wearing suits and have an excuse to act like James Bond. Which is fine - his Daniel Craig impression is really improving.
Besides, he’s happy to do anything that will distract him from the dance itself and Sam’s rapidly evolving conspiracy theories have been perfect for that. Sam Evans is probably the only thing standing between him and a full blown Sadie Hawkins meltdown and he thinks Sam might know it. Because seriously, Sam’s the best.
So when he pulls Blaine away from Tina, wildly announcing a huge breakthrough in the case, Blaine doesn’t think he’d actually found anything. Even after everything that happened last year, even after looking Hunter in the mildly deranged eye, some part of him clung to the belief that the Warblers were still who they were when he’d left them; the guys that had helped him through the fallout of the last Sadie Hawkins dance.
He should really know better by now.
Sam leads him to Trent, standing nervously in the hallway, and the mere sight of Blaine is enough to make him break and tell them everything. Sam was right. Glee Club could actually be back.
Which is how they end up in the locker room, talking Finn through all the evidence Sam collected like they’re reporting back from an undercover mission. It’s so serious Sam even forgets his Daniel Craig impression.
Trent gets called in as the final evidence, entering at their signal looking appropriately pale and dramatic.
“Blaine and I joined the Warblers together,” he begins somberly. “It was a band of brothers, a group joined by harmony and honor. But then Blaine left and-”
“And then I happened.”
As one, their heads snap to where Sebastian is standing silhouetted in the doorway. Blaine can’t help but appreciate the drama.
“How did you find me?” Trent stutters, horrified.
Sebastian rolls his eyes. “Please. You’ve been a nervous wreck all day, it was obvious something was up. When you left early, I followed you.”
“Don’t let him bully you, Trent,” Finn says, pulling off a surprisingly legitimate teacher voice. “He can’t stop you from testifying.”
“Bullying?” Sebastian scoffs.
“Testifying?” Trent squeaks.
“Yeah,” Blaine says gently, ignoring Sebastian and exchanging a look with Sam. “That’s what you’re here for, right?”
“I just wanted to talk to you,” Trent says. “If I go public with this then the Warblers reputation is ruined forever. Years of honorable melodies and harmonies, all forgotten.”
“The Warblers lost any honor they had the day I threw that slushee,” Sebastian says, sounding almost bored. He shrugs under all their shocked looks. “I don’t know why you assume I’m here to stop him. It’s not like I took the drugs either.”
“Somehow I don’t believe you,” says Finn. He may be a joke as an authority figure, but Blaine knows from experience he can be intimidating when he want to be.
Sebastian remains unfazed. “Shockingly, I’m the only Warbler on an actual sports team, and those tend to be more alert to steroid use than show choirs. Hunter decided it wasn’t worth the risk.”
“But you performed at Sectionals.”
Sebastian smirks. “What can I say, the other guys needed drugs to get on my level.”
Blaine bites back a laugh and Sebastian definitely notices, eyes flicking to him before he says, “Look, after everything I did to you guys, I thought it’d be better for everyone if I took a step back this year. But apparently, the Warblers will sell their soul to anyone with a decent voice and a vision, which I’ve gotta say, makes me feel a whole lot less special.”
“Wait, so… you’re gonna help us?” Sam says slowly.
“Yup. Congratulations, you’re going to Regionals. Not that you deserve to. I mean, Gangnam Style? Really?”
Finn has the decency to look a little embarrassed, but he recovers. “So you’ll testify? Both of you?”
“If Sebastian’s testifying I don’t think I really need-” Trent starts before catching Sebastian’s glare. Blaine throws in his puppy eyes for good measure and Trent wilts. “Yeah. We will.”
“Great!” Finn says, letting out a relieved laugh while Sam offers Blaine his hand for a discrete high five. “Now I just need to figure out how to report this.”
He gives Sam a clap on the shoulder and gathers up all the evidence they’d given him before leaving the locker room, apparently intending to start immediately.
“Thank you,” Blaine says, focusing his earnestness on Trent because it seems like he needs it more. He’s still very aware of Sebastian in the corner of his eye. “This means a lot.”
“Yeah, thanks,” Sam joins with a blinding smile and usual bounding enthusiasm. He looks at Blaine and says, “I should get back to Brit, tell her the good news. You okay here?” Blaine nods. “Yeah, go have fun. You deserve it.”
Sam smiles and heads out, stopping to put a hand on Sebastian’s shoulder and say, “Seriously, thanks man.”
Blaine sees Sebastian grimace and tries not to laugh.
“They’re all going to hate us,” Trent says sharply once Sam is gone.
“Relax,” Sebastian says with a roll of his eyes. “They’ll just assume I put you up to it.”
“You’re doing the right thing, Trent,” Blaine says. “The Warblers will realize that eventually.”
“I just hate betraying them like this.”
“Hunter betrayed the Warblers. You’re saving them.”
“Yeah, that’s what they said about Brutus,” Trent says miserably. He heaves a dramatic sigh. “It was good seeing you, Blaine. Hopefully next time it’ll be under more auspicious circumstances.”
With that, Trent makes his dignified exit, leaving Blaine alone in the locker room with Sebastian.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he testifies.”
“I’m not worried,” Blaine says truthfully. “It’s nice, what you’re doing for him. For all of them.”
Sebastian raises his eyebrows like he has no idea what Blaine’s talking about. “I’m doing this for me. Once Hunter gets expelled I’ll be able to finish my senior year in peace. I mean, you met him; he was barely tolerable before the roid rage.”
“Come on, just admit it,” Blaine says, teasing. “You love them.”
“Who, the Warblers? The Warblers would follow a potato if it promised them a Nationals trophy. They’re a Jonestown waiting to happen.”
"So it’s a good thing they got you looking out for them, huh?”
"Shut up, Anderson,” he says, mild.
Blaine jerks his head towards the door. “Come on. I’ll walk you out.”
They fall into step, taking their time as they make their way down the hallway.
It’s strange seeing Sebastian here. Blaine watches him unabashedly as he casts a critical eye over everything: the gum stuck to the floor, the bright yellow of the lockers, the graffitied club posters. The last time they’d been alone together they’d been walking the stately halls of Dalton and he’d been so full of guilt that he could barely look anyone in the eye, least of all Sebastian, who always seemed to see too much.
Funny how things changed. Just a few short months ago he thought he’d never be okay again. Now he knows he will. He might not be there yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
"So what’s with the suit?” Sebastian asks eventually. “Are you and the blonde bimbo just playing dress up again, because as good as this look is, I think I preferred the spandex.”
Blaine scoffs to keep from laughing. “I’ll have you know there’s a school dance going on. You’re welcome to stick around if you want.”
He offers without thinking, ingrained politeness kicking in automatically. He has a panicky hope that Sebastian’s reaction will be equally automatic, just a sneer and some comment about how spending too long in public schools is bad for his health.
But it’s not. He stops walking and considers Blaine for a moment before saying, “That depends. Do I get a dance?”
That’s how it went in the movies, he remembers. The spy ending up with the sexy informant. It makes him feel better, the idea that this is what’s supposed to happen.
"I think that can be arranged.”
It feels dangerous leading Sebastian into the gym, but that’s helpful, in a way. He doesn’t know if his heart is pounding because he’s about to dance with a boy at a Sadie Hawkins dance or if it’s because that boy is Sebastian Smythe. It’s easier, pretending it’s the second one. It might even be true.
"Is it normal for a school’s Glee Club to provide all the dance music?” Sebastian says, eyeing the stage doubtfully. “Could the school not do any better?”
"Hey, we’re national champions,” Blaine says with mock indignation. “And we work for free.”
“So am I going to get to hear you sing?”
"Sorry, you missed it.”
“What’d you sing? How bad should I feel for missing out?”
“I led an all male rendition of TLC’s No Scrubs,” he says primly.
Sebastian laughs, delighted. It’s a good look for him. “Wow, so really bad then.”
Ryder starts the next song, something slow. A dance for couples.
Sebastian offers his hand and raises his eyebrows. After a moments hesitation, Blaine takes it.
Logically, he knows there’s nothing to worry about. He’s knows he’s well liked, he even has the poll numbers to prove it, and it’s not like people don’t know he’s gay.
But it still felt safer dancing with Tina.
“You okay?” Sebastian asks, and looking up at him Blaine finds himself relaxing, just a bit. Because nothing about Sebastian has ever felt safe, and he’s never quite managed to care.
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
He catches Sam watching them from where he’s dancing with Britany, looking worried, and that relaxes him too, knowing that no matter what happens Sam will have his back.
Sebastian puts his hand on his waist and Blaine’s heart rate spikes, but no one seems to care. The only one giving them any dirty looks is Tina, which is deserved honestly. He’ll make it up to her later.
"You know, this isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be,” Sebastian says after a moment.
“Wow, thanks.”
“No, really. I can barely even tell I’m in a public school gym.”
“You took quite the risk coming here, huh?”
Sebastian ignores the sarcasm. “Yeah, well, you’re worth it.”
Blaine ducks his head, pleased despite himself. “I’m glad you came,” he admits.
"Me too.”
And then it’s just nice. Swaying back and forth with a cute boy at his high school dance. This was how it was supposed to be.
When the song ends Sebastian let’s go, putting his hands in his pockets. “I should probably get going,” he says. “Long drive.”
Blaine nods. “Okay. And thanks. For everything.”
Sebastian hesitates and seems almost nervous as he says, “I’ll uh, see you around?”
Blaine doesn’t bother hiding his smile this time. “Definitely. I’ll call you. We can get coffee or something.”
“Looking forward to it.”
It feels like the start of something. Something good.
