Honestly this was quite a challenge for me since I'm not used to doing frills or such sharp corners for the hair and for this sort of stuff I'm considering going for a lighter brush but all in all this was a fun learning experience for me and I intend to do more. Especially with such a beautiful lady.

Baby Sebek: Baba!

Sebek's mother: You're holding him tenderly.

Baul: *scoffs* Absolutely not. I am quite disgusted in fact. *cradling Baby Sebek*

After Chapter 7, Malleus and by extension Briar Valley had to deal with plenty of backlash.

In an attempt to appease the public (and control Malleus), the Senate organized a press conference with world leaders and NRC parents (there's A LOT of overlap between those two groups).

The main idea was to show the Senate as capable advisors that would guide the young Draconia, cementing their status in Briar Valley while also "protecting" and isolating Malleus.

What really happened was that Mrs. Rosehearts yelled at them for ten hours straight.

You see, Riddle was worried about how his mother would react to the entire Chapter 7 situation, so he made sure to explain everything to her, casting Malleus and Lillia in a more favourable light.

And it acually worked! You see, despite all her failures as a parent, she is still a mother at the end of the day, and the idea that a son would go to such great lenghts, overblotting and almost dooming the entire world, just to keep his parental figure safe, was quite touching.

She also has a newfound respect for Lillia, how he spent all those years looking for ways to get Malleus to hatch, how he went above and beyond to care for the Prince, even while banished, how he adopted and raised Silver (who is the only student she actually respects). HOW HE LITERALLY SACRIFICED PART OF HIS LIFEFORCE FOR MALLEUS TO HATCH!

On the other hand, she HATES the Senate. Mostly because she put herself in Meleanor's shoes: imagine you're about to die and decide to entrust your unborn son to your friend, only for said friend to be unjustly banished, leaving your kid in the hands of a bunch of entitled senators that completely DISREGARDED YOUR LAST WISH (Mrs. Rosehearts hates it when people don't do what she says, so she feels personally offended by that last bit, the fact that Malleus almost died also doesn't help).

Anyway, she's angry and, since the Senate IS encouraging people to air their grievances with Briar Valley, might as well seize this opportunity!

Malleus, Silver, Sebek, Lillia, Baul and Maleficia feel vindicated. Since only the housewardens and Diasomnia were invited for the event, the group chat was crazy.

The housewardens were all sitting together near the back of the room, alongside Silver and Sebek (they DON'T want to draw attention to themselves, especially since most of them are overblot survivors), so they could easily chat or sleep. Meanwhile the students back on campus were watching everything at Ramshackle.

As a small bonus, a few ways to avoid panic attacks, by Riddle and Trey:

*Mrs. Rosehearts starts talking*

Trey: Hey Rook!

Rook: Oui?

Trey: What is the meaning of beauty?

Rook: :D

*Rook starts monologuing and nobody can hear the TV anymore*

Meanwhile Riddle:

*School chat*

Epel: So, how long until she stops yelling at people? It ain't funny anymore...

Riddle: Since she yelled at Trey's parents for five hours because they gave me a tart, maybe ten or fifteen hours?

Ruggie: Wtf

Deuce: Are you doing okay, dormhead?

Riddle: I have a fully charged phone with a crosswords app, headphones playing all the Queen's rules on loop, and an entire bottle filled with the strongest calming tea I could find.

Riddle: Moreover, I'm currently seated beside the sleepiest students in this school (Leona and Silver). Their calm disposition creates a peaceful environment.

Riddle: Therefore I shall be able to keep panic attacks AND overblots at bay!

Ace: Just say yes or no...

*15 minutes later*

Riddle: I beat the game, there are no more crosswords

Vil: Wake Leona up, we're having a TOURNAMENT!

I love when sebby bday comes around because unless you know other dia and/or sebby fans, you don’t see many fangirl about him outside that circle and tags. If that makes sense?

So when his bday comes around, not only do all the fanart get released but so do the shrines 💚💚💚

So seeing people love Seb so much makes me happy.

This same goes for Silver as well but sometimes it feels Sebek is the least popular of all?? If that makes sense?

Okay, so I just got an idea that Sebek’s mother was Tik-tok from Peter Pan (1953) who used to battle TWST’s Hook and then I imagined that Sebek’s father was Smee and now I have decided this is canon till proven otherwise. Sebek’s father was a pirate who battled his mother, who fought with Hook for his heart, until she was victorious and Smee decided to become a dentist.

I had this whole thing written out yesterday (mostly in the tags) comparing my favorite pretty pretty man in hypmic (and his ride or die partner) with my favorite pretty pretty man in twst (and his ride or die partner) but I don’t see it on my blog and it’s not in my drafts.

I ramble more today, so...

So our pretty liar once again speaks of meeting in a dream. He used this phrase in Once Upon a Time in Shibuya, too.

But this time, Gentaro uttering the words “meet in a dream” was an absolute gut punch.

He has such a romantic way of speaking - which is very much like Sebek!

FAIRYTALES. 

BRIAR VALLEY is no stranger to  rich  history,  the most common form of tales being  recorded  first through memory  –  then scroll,    more  recently,  by book.  the lack of electricity left them with a  verbal history  preceding written,   leaving  long  gaps  that can only be filled by speaking to the eldest in the village.   among these folktales,   most revolve around  high fantasy  –  telling tales of fae - knights  &  royalty from briar valley. a common past - time that  these tales be shared to the  rare  young inhabitants of the village.   in youth,  these stories inspired sebek and his siblings to play using  wooden swords & shields,   pretending that they were members of the guard.   recalling of his grandfather’s time serving the draconia’s only further fueled the fantasy for the zigvolt siblings  &  inspired sebek to make it his goal,  latching onto his  strong - willed grandfather at a small age. 

TRADITIONS. 

the connection between  his  own family  &   the draconia family comes from a long lineage of servitude to the royal family.   each before him held the title of  retainer,   his grandfather being the last  to retire  from this position.     the long - lasting line of service had come to a  stop  when sebek’s mother broke tradition  &  married a human  –  who could not be deemed fit to stand as a knight without a  hint  of magic at his disposal.  sebek’s  father’s  profession was one of the first disappointments that he saw in him;   despite still maintaining a careful care of his own teeth as a cause of his father’s upbringing. 

in accordance with tradition,  there has  yet  to be a retainer to the draconia family who is  not  a full - blooded fae just like the rest of the royal family.  as much as sebek belittles  &  berates himself for being born half - human,  he still is motivated to be someone reliable to his young master despite his faults.   because of his late start to magic,   his skills are subpar  –  but what he lacks in magical control,   he is sure to make up for in combat talent  &  brute strength.   his reasoning for  not giving up  on becoming a knight  –  in despite the odds being stacked against him,  in a town where he is not looked upon as someone  capable  of being strong  –   unlike  a mage or a warlock,   swordsmanship  &  hand - to - hand combat are the first brought to mind where a knight is concerned.  of all the  fairytale ‘tropes’  mentioned in the stories he was read as a child  –  no  knight  is praised for relying on their  magical technique,   but instead how well they can  protect those they care about. 

SIBLINGS.

his relationship with his own siblings was always  alright  at best,   not  truly broken until they got to the age where competition between each of them was at large.   sebek’s own determination to earn a position as a retainer to the draconia family caused him to become  less  kind towards his own siblings,   treating them more like rivals than his own family.   his obsession with becoming  better  than them is what eventually caused them to see each other in a negative light.   because of this,  while he may speak fondly on his childhood stories,  he would not go so far as to say that he misses them.

The queen: Bring me to her location.

Malleus: If you barge in, you'll cause a commotion. And where are your royal guards?

The queen: I've left them. You should not be concerned. I've assigned someone to keep an eye on my place while I'm away.

Malleus: Please be patient. I'll inquire with Lilia.

The queen: Good. I want to talk to him too.

Lilia: *kneeling before Her Majesty*

The queen: Do you know why I've summoned you here?

Lilia: I have no idea, Your Majesty.

The queen: ...

The queen: Where is that despicable spectral dragon?

Lilia: She might be on break as of this moment.

The queen: Could you bring me to her? Or rather, drag her here.

Lilia: *troubled chuckle* Who am I to do that to her, Your Majesty?

The queen: I am displeased, Lilia Vanrouge. Stop making excuses for her.

*Crowley and the others evacuating the students as per Lilia's advice*

Ace and Deuce: *have stayed with MC because they don't understand why they need to leave*

Deuce: It seems the situation is quite urgent.

Ace: Eh... But the headmage didn't say anything.

MC: *looks chill* According to Lilia Vanrouge, we have an important visitor.

Deuce: Who might it be?

Ace: Right? I feel like they're someone scary.

MC: We will find out.

*then the sound of the horns*

Ace and Deuce: !!!

Lilia: *steps in* Bow down to Her Majesty, The Queen of Briar Valley.

Ace and Deuce: Eh? EH?!!

Sebek: Bow down, humans!

The queen: *walks in elegantly*

Ace and Deuce: ...

Deuce: Th-That's the queen of Briar Valley? What is she doing here?

Ace: I don't know! And let's kneel before she notice us!

The queen: *her eyes already fixated on MC*

MC: *meeting her gaze with equal fervor*

The queen: Are you not going to show your respect?

MC: I'm still tired from teaching a large group of children today. I'll do it when I feel like it. Still, take a seat.

Silver and Sebek: *stunned*

Lilia: *trying to hold back his laughter*

Ace: Eh? Madame? Are you sure that's how you talk to a queen?

Deuce: Ace is right, Ma. That seems... rude.

MC: My intuition tells me that we are on equal footing. So no.

MC: Lilia Vanrouge, am I mistaken?

Lilia: No. You are completely correct.

The queen: ...

The queen: *smiles* And here I am thinking you've finally changed. You're still as brazen as ever.

MC: I'll take that as a compliment. And I would appreciate it if you use our indoor shoes.

Silver: The Madame... She's really...

Sebek: ... Fearless.

The queen: *doing what she says*

The queen: Your house a filth.

MC: It's a vintage.

Lilia: *already crouching on the floor, silently wheezing*

Ace: Ah... So she came here to see how she's doing?

Malleus: Yes. I was worried at first, however, knowing my grandmother, she's the type to visit her friends whenever she feels the need to.

Deuce: I see... I'm getting more and more amazed with Mama. I wonder if I could be like her when it comes to creating connections.

Crowley: A-Ah! That's good to hear! I will let the students know that it's safe for them to come back and resume their classes.

Malleus, Ace, and Deuce: ...

Ace: Headmage, you amaze me sometimes.

Crowley: *frowns, crossing his arms* Don't try to be sarcastic on me, Trappola.

The queen: Now that we've exchanged pleasantries.

The queen: Explain to me why you broke your oath.

MC: ...

MC: Oath... I don't remember ever doing one.

The queen: ...

The queen: It seems Lilia is right.

The queen: You have no idea who you are.

MC: If it isn't anything frightening, I suppose I don't need to sweat the details.
