Part 7 - Incoming Text for Jennifer Lopez (@jlo): “An Idea Worth 500 Million Dollars”
Question:
Jennifer, could you consider negotiating with Nathalie Emmanuel, the talented actress, to appear as a secret agent in all the sequels of the "Top Secret" reboot? Her consistent presence would strengthen the franchise. Additionally, would it be possible to secure Sebastian Maniscalco, the actor, to play the villain role across multiple sequels? His unique ability to portray a compelling antagonist would bring depth to the series, ensuring the franchise remains exciting and engaging for audiences throughout all its installments.
ChatGPT Answer:
Jennifer, securing Nathalie Emmanuel, the talented actress known for her roles in Fast & Furious and Game of Thrones, to appear as a secret agent in all the sequels would be a strong move for the franchise. Her consistent presence would ensure continuity and audience loyalty.
Additionally, Sebastian Maniscalco, the actor and comedian known for his roles in The Irishman and Green Book, would make an excellent villain across multiple sequels. His unique comedic style paired with dramatic depth would bring a compelling antagonist to the franchise.

Coming Attractions - May 2023
Tumblr media
As usual, we present monthly previews of new movies being released. These are the movies that will be hitting your local cinemas (and streaming services) this month:
May 5th
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 - The story of this rad tag gang of interstellar heroes comes to an end with this third volume in their trilogy. Especially with James Gunn off to head DC Studios, the end is nigh for the Guardians. Sure, some of them may show up in future MCU films, but for now, this is it. Enjoy it as you can. You’re welcome.
May 12th
Book Club: The Next Chapter - Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen are back in this sequel to 2018′s Book Club which gross $104 million worldwide.
Fool’s Paradise - Charlie Day makes his directorial debut in this satirical comedy that he both wrote and stars in.
The Mother - Jennifer Lopez is the titular mother in this action drama from director Niki Caro with a story by Misha Green. Keep an eye on Netflix for The Mother this Mother’s Day.
Hypnotic - Robert Rodriguez directs Ben Affleck in this sci-fi action thriller that was screened at SXSW in March. Rumor has it, the movie is only 90 minutes, so plan your lunch breaks accordingly.
Crater - Coming to Disney+ is this coming-of-age adventure film set on the Moon.
May 19th
Fast X - The tenth (and probably penultimate) installment of the Fast & Furious saga is hitting theaters this month. New to the cast this time around are Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, and Alan Ritchson.
White Men Can’t Jump - Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls star in this remake of the 1992 classic of the same name coming to Hulu this month.
May 26th
The Little Mermaid - Disney’s quest to make live-action versions of their animated films continues with this new version of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Baily, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy.
About My Father - Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco plays himself in this comedy loosely based on his life. Robert De Niro costars as his father.
The Machine  - Comedian Bret Kreischer plays himself in this comedy inspired by his stand-up routine. Mark Hamill costars as his father. Why does this sound familiar?
Kandahar - Gerald Butler is a CIA operative stuck in Afghanistan in this upcoming action thriller.
You Hurt My Feelings - Writer/director Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said) reunites with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a new comedy-drama about marriage.
Now for a quick look ahead to June, my top picks for next month are Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Flash, and Asteroid City.

"Yes, I live in a castle, Tony! Alone. And rich white people pay me to play piano for them because it makes them feel cultured. But as soon as I step off that stage, I go right back to being just another nigger to them. Because that is their true culture. And I suffer that slight alone, because I'm not accepted by my own people 'cause I'm not like them, either. So, if I'm not black enough and if I'm not white enough and if I'm not man enough, then tell me, Tony, what am I?"

(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all 130 minutes of ‘Green Book’ , the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)

The last thing I’d expect is to find out that Linda Cardellini would actually able to hold her own with Viggo Mortensen. It shouldn’t be a surprise right? As her previous work really shows that she is at that level (and yes...now I am looking forward for an Oscar for her now)...and maybe viewers like me need to be reminded more.
One reviewer mentioned that her character was warm. Then it got me thinking about characters that she played that had a bit of...um...bite?
So now....I am hoping Linda’s niche is ‘warm but strict’. Which makes me wonder what it would be like if she found a film with lots of action sequences in it (yep...I’m definitely thinking about that scene in ER that likely required stunt coordination).
One dissapointment for me was when looking for interviews...I can’t find one that talks about her working on her character with Viggo. How much prep did they do?
PS: It was a delight to catch the panel moderated by Octavia Spencer
PPS: I wanted to use the insert of the Jade stone on Tony’s wallet, but couldn’t find it (I mistakenly forgot to take note of the timestamp during the initial watch...and the rewatch).
--------
HIGHLIGHTS:
Tony’s debate with Don about the Jade stone.
--------
EXT. LOUISVILLE MOTEL - NIGHT
The CADILLAC pulls into the one of the free spots.
TONY gets out and looks around. Not sure if this place has seen better days. A table with a permanent umbrella lays on the ground. No chairs in sight
He opens the door to DON. As DON gets out of the vehicle, TONY once again consults the Green Book.
DON looks around and puts on his coat.
TONY This can't be right. It says right here: 'Cosy as your own home.'
He scoffs.
TONY This place looks like my ass.
--------
My verdict of the film: 8/10 (It was those couple of scenes at the start...somehow the tone is so different from what followed)
Link to the timestamp commentary: TBA

GREEN BOOK (2018) Grade: B
Solid film, probably shouldn't have won best picture. What kind of bothers me to read, is that most of it isn't true.
