happy life, happy wife | hugh jackman
an: “you attract what you fear” GUYS IM SO SCARED OF A 55 YEAR OLD AUSTRALIAN 😭 definitely thinking about making marvel actress!reader x hugh an actual series… i have ideas
marvel actress!reader
Deadpool & Wolverine Press tour - Hot Ones
Hugh felt like he was going to die. Each wing was getting hotter and hotter, but immediately when he heard his wife’s name he forgot all about the spice.
“Hugh, your wife is part of the Avengers, how does it feel having your wife be part of such a huge franchise? Have you two talked about a potential team up with the X-men and the Avengers?” Sean asked.
“My wife . . . Oh god, I think I’m crying-”
“I can’t tell if you’re legitimately dying or completely in love with your wife.” Ryan told Hugh.
“Wait . . I am completely in love with my wife and I would legitimately die for her.” Hugh gasped as he rearranged Ryan’s words.
“Is that in the contract she made you sign when you married her? ‘I vow to die for you’. My contract said I had to give all my money to my kids and wife.” Ryan said.
“No, she’s amazing, um, if I start talking about her I think I might go on for hours,” he laughed. “Our kids do want to see their parents fighting the bad guys together. We would love to team up, maybe it could happen.” Hugh smiled.
“The entire movie would be them making out and her beating the shit out of you. I’d pay to see that.” Ryan added.

Comic Con 2024
Like RDJ, your last Marvel movie had been Avengers: Endgame. After being in ten mcu films, it was time to say goodbye to your character.
But that was in 2019.
At this years comic con, you were back. The cast of Deadpool & Wolverine had taken the stage and showed their appreciation for the fans. After their panel, it was time to announce Marvel’s upcoming projects. Kevin Feige announced the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Captain America 4, and finally the new Avengers movies, which everyone was extremely excited about.
After showing the title card for the upcoming Avengers film, Kevin turned to the audience.
“Something people have been asking, as of late, is who the heck is going to direct these two movies?” The audience clapped.
From the side of the stage, you were nervous. What if the fans didn’t like the idea of you directing the next two Avengers films? Your worrying caused Hugh to come to your rescue.
“Hey, they loved you as an Avenger, they will love you even more.” Hugh kissed your forehead. “If anyone says anything about this decision, they have me to deal with.”
You laughed at his words. “I really love you so much.”
“Love you too, bub.” Hugh was about to kiss you when Ryan cut in.
“I really love us too. I convinced half of the people here that we’re a throuple.” He said in the most serious tone ever.
Kevin announced you as the director. Your doubt of the fans not liking the announcement was proven wrong when you walked the stairs to the stage and stood next to Kevin. They cheered when they saw you were back.
As you said a few words, thanking Marvel, Kevin and the fans, you were being recorded by Hugh, who was being recorded by Ryan.
“That’s my wife!” Hugh cheered from backstage, holding his phone in his hand.
“She’s Marvel Jesus now, holy shit!”

WIRED autocomplete interview
“Is Hugh Jackman married?”
“Yes, to me, Y/n, probably to half the population,” Ryan answered. “He’s Australia’s biggest slut.”
“All the times, I proposed.” Hugh laughed. “But yes, I am married and I love my wife very much. She’s stuck with me forever.” He lifted his hand to show off the wedding band.
“Funny, because she texted me right now. Her and Blake are in the courthouse getting married. So Deadpool three was actually made so our wives could divorce us and marry each other.”

Pandora"s Vault:
Contained : Dream, Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Technoblade, Connoreatpants
Series : DSMP
Propaganda : its so big. Its so so big. Look at a map of the dsmp. Its just a black void bigger than l'manburg was. You look at it and you just know it's something terrible. the obsidian walls, lava, the iron. It's just there. In the middle of the ocean. It does not fit in and its scary. the AMOUNT of redstone and functions it go is AMAZING. the only way to enter is through a portal that then leads u to the nether and has to be manually activated again by the warden. So to enter you literally NEED the wardens permission. All the bridges and all the door. It's so fucking cool man what can I say. The amount of security. the lore that happened inside pandora as well. Pandoras arc was the best arc of the whole of dream smp and I stand by that. There is so so much to unpack. Sam and Dream could have just built some shitty obsidian box and called it a prison, but no they made PANDORAS VAULT
The Prison of the Iron Crocodiles:
Contained : ForgeLabs, unsortedguy, okrobert
Series : Scenario SMP
Propaganda : A work of tactical mastery and raw function. Sean's team only had three people including himself, whereas every other kingdom had around 10 players. In order to even the playing field, Sean's plan essentially involved using the rules of the Scenario to their full potential -- players were not allowed to break blocks while in enemy territory, so anyone dropped into the pit trap contained in the castle's gates would be stuck and forced to drop their weapons and armor or risk being murdered by a very angry crocodile. Was a working prison for quite some time, including being used to hold one of the rival leaders and more than one of his people hostage for a good amount of time. It's probably not much to look at compared to some of the other builds here, but it made up one of the central tactical plot points of the entire GoT scenario. The ripple effect of this prison being built can't be understated -- its usage completely reshaped the political and tactical landscape of the server. ...I mean, Forge didn't win, but it still reshaped the way he lost. Also it was just a very cool tactic.

HoTD S2x01: A Son for a Son (I have thoughts and I'm keeping them here)
The Stark theme and Cregan doing his best Sean Bean accent have me nostalgic.
If getting conscripted to the Wall is an honour, then why does budget Jon Snow look unhappy about it?
No Sara Snow, okay. I’ll live with it. No Jace/Cregan (b)romance, not okay. Tumblr made me want it, only to be so denied by the showrunners.
Not more Targ colonialism erasure. "We colonised an entire continent to save the world, no really. And look, even the noble Starks agree with it!" is such a shit take, even if it's canon. I like the Targ characters, but let's not erase the original Aegon's colonial crimes.
Jace looks so pretty! Major glow up.
Dragonstone has a dragon hangar! Yay for worldbuilding!
Daemon calling Vhagar a hoary old bitch reminds me of this absolutely amazing Vhagar POV fanfic I read. (Soon the god's hoar by eldritcher on AO3) (The fic is spoiler-y for the rest of the Dance, jsyk.)
Yes, Rhaenys! Put Daemon in his place! Also, her dragon riding outfit!!!
Alyn, I see you doing an Egg by shaving your head.
Why in the hell does no one take Helaena’s visions seriously?! She’s right every time. (Can I blame ‘I had a dragon dream once’ Viserys for this? Because I want to blame Viserys for this. Look at the mess you left your kids in, Viserys! I hope Balerion bites your ass in the afterlife.)
And here we see the 'Our lives are in danger, so let's fuck about it' trope in action. I’ve heard a lot of Alicole hot takes. “Criston Cole is ‘unmanly’ for going down on a woman” is the absolute hottest of hot takes I’ve had the misfortune of encountering.
Otto giving Alicent and Criston Cole that look as they walk in. He knows what they’ve been doing.
Aegon grinning at his son like a fool. Aegon giving Jaehaerys attention and wanting him to learn how to rule even though he’s only six. Aegon trying to do better than deadbeat Viserys did. Aegon talking about pony rides in a way that suggests Jaehaerys often gets pony rides, possibly from Aegon himself. If you told me last season Aegon would somehow turn out to be the best father on this series ….. (Yes, I know that when it comes to being a dad the bar is in hell’s basement here. Yes, I know the way Aegon treats his illegitimate kids is horrific. I think there’s definitely been some retconning here and S2 Aegon is not the same character as S1 Aegon. They should have portrayed him this way from the start.)
Alicent wrote Rhaenyra letters to apologize for Luke's death and she's expecting a response?! Girl ....
My kingdom for a scene of the Greens finding out that Aemond killed Luke. My kingdom for a scene of Aemond deciding to just fully commit to the villain persona and lie to say he killed Luke intentionally. Such a missed opportunity.
Larys being an intimidating creep to Alicent again. He should go fall down some stairs.
Alicent scrubbing her skin raw. She is not okay. (I want to see Alicent cracking. Let Olivia Cooke act!)
Rhaenyra’s grief over Luke is heartbreaking. Emma D’Arcy is acting their heart out. And Syrax crying too, nooo.
Aegon walking in sync with his fratboy squad. You know they practised that entrance during one of their nightly seshes in the throne room.
Are they going to show the throne cutting Aegon?
“On further thought, I have decided ….” Aegon is hilarious.
It’s Hammer time!
Larys already angling for the Hand’s position. I know this guy is ambitious, but damn.
Just Alicent looking ethereal reading letters.
Mysaria’s accent has been toned down! (Why was Mysaria fleeing King’s Landing though? Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t get it?)
“We swore an oath to protect the whole of the royal family. So what were we to do when they turned against one another?” Jaime Lannister echoes.
"I want Aemond Targaryen." Chills. Rhaenyra only says four words all episode and it's these four words.
Jace trying to keep it together and be professional to give his report. Jace looking so much younger and more vulnerable when he’s back with his mother. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Scenes with Rhaenyra at Luke’s funeral interspersed with scenes of Alicent paying tribute to the dead, including Luke. My heart. That empty space next to Alicent in the sept where Rhaenyra used to pray. They are an absence in each other’s lives.
Rhaena crying for her betrothed, nooo.
Why didn’t they have a dragon light Luke’s funeral pyre?
The return of the Daemon crime hoodie, now upgraded to a war crime hoodie.
Making it unclear if Daemon told B & C to go after another son if they can’t find Aemond or if B & C just went rogue – that’s a cop out by the writers. Unless it comes up again. EDIT: Daemon said 'a son for a son.' He was giving them carte blanche to go after another son if Aemond is MIA.
Daemon reluctantly admitting Aemond is a good fighter. I love to see it.
Why do I get the sense that Aemond also knows about Alicole?
“Rhaenyra is a cunning spider. Long ago she pulled Alicent into her web. Intoxicated her. It is not your mother’s fault.” “Her Grace speaks with two tongues. Alicent holds love for our enemy.” So they’re both obsessed and very much not over Rhaenyra. Do Alicent and Cole both think of Rhaenyra while being unholy together because it kinda seems like it?
Ewan Mitchell as Aemond is so mesmerizing. That man has presence.
Why the fuck has no one tried to map the secret tunnels into the Red Keep and close off the ones that allow randoms to sneak in/royal minors to sneak out?
The entire Kingsguard is in the throne room guarding Aegon? And they don’t stop the ‘rat catchers’ working at night? Even if the rat catchers were supposed to be there, I feel like it would still be protocol to stop and question them. Have none of these writers been pulled over by the cops for no reason/even slightly suspicious behaviour?
I think the build up to B & C should’ve focused on Helaena and her kids instead of B & C creeping around, arguing for no reason and committing gratuitous animal abuse. (That dog kicking scene looked so real, I watched the end credits for a disclaimer that no animals were harmed in the making of.) They could’ve shown Helaena getting the kids ready for bed, reading them a story, etc. They established a connection between Aegon and Jaehaerys pre B & C but none between Helaena and the kids before it happened. Lost opportunity.
B & C was very different than I expected before I was spoiled. I guess I see what the writers were going for with Helaena’s response to B & C. She’s dissociated rather than hysterical. She’s been painted as a character who’s distanced from the world around her in general, so perhaps this is an in-character trauma response for her. Plus you could see the absolute terror in Phia’s eyes. Helaena was terrified and traumatized. She was just quiet about it.
As for her just pointing out Jaehaerys instead of trying to bargain or plead more for his life … I guess it’s because they’re characterizing her as very literalist, straightforward and honest to a fault as part of her ‘strangeness’? So she just took B & C at their word and didn’t try to change their minds because after the necklace offer failed, she assumed they couldn’t be swayed and would definitely kill her and both kids like they threatened to if she didn’t point out Jaehaerys to them. As for not pointing to Jaehaera – that wouldn’t accomplish anything. If they didn’t check that they really had the boy, one of her kids would still be dead. If they checked and discovered she’d lied, they might kill both kids. She was a mother who didn’t want either of her kids to die but perceived she couldn’t do anything to save both of them, so she felt she had no choice but to point out Jaehaerys. And then she grabbed Jaehaera and got her to safety when she saw the chance. At least she could save one of them.
As for Helaena saying they killed ‘the boy’ instead of saying his name Jaehaerys – I don’t see that as her being insensitive and uncaring about her kid. I think she was just repeating B & C’s exact word use in her dissociated state. She was on auto pilot at that point.
I do get what the writers were going for … but it’s not going to translate well to most of the audience I don’t think. I see many people interpreting it as Helaena not caring about Jaehaerys and not trying hard enough to save him. “Why didn’t she offer up her own life like any mother would?” If a large part of the audience misinterprets or misunderstands a scene or a character’s intentions or motivations, then that’s a failure on the part of the writers IMO. I’m not upset they didn’t make B & C more graphic or violent in the physical or psychological sense. (In the book, their twisted mind games were just as horrific and brutal and every bit as violent as the physical violence). But I do think that scene could have been better executed in a different way. And including Maelor probably would have worked better to illustrate the horrific, inescapable situation Helaena found herself in between a rock and a hard place.
Where the fuck are the guards? In the throne room with Aegon? Sent away by Cole to hide the fact that he’s in the queen dowager’s bed? The Greens never considered infiltration or a stealth attack? They really got complacent because they have Vhagar guarding the city.
Alicent and Cole doing it in Rhaenyra’s old room, in Rhaenyra’s bed!! Are they both imagining they’re with Rhaenyra too?! Because this is giving … high levels of dysfunction. They’re both haunted by Rhaenyra
The only thing I’ll say about Alicole is that they really should have shown them getting together for the first time. When, how and why did that happen? Who instigated it? How did they both feel about it? Again the writers don’t show the motivations they had in mind for the characters, resulting in the viewers drawing different conclusions than they’re ‘supposed to’ and it works against the story. The interviews I’ve watched seem to say it’s consensual on both their parts. (I know there’s a power imbalance that makes it problematic, but I don’t think the writers see it that way.) Again, showing the start of their first sexual encounter would have been better writing (IMO) because it could have been used to illustrate consent.
The last thing I’ll say about Alicole (okay, so I wanted to say two things) is that showing it after B & C that way by having Helaena walk in on them cheapens B & C. The true shock and horror here is that a child was murdered in front of his mother. Why add the cheap shock value of someone walking in on their parent in flagarante?
All in all, okay episode, kind of weird. Looking forward to see what they do with the rest of the material.

15 Day BL Challenge - Day 16
Full challenge list here: Day 16 to 30, Day 01 to 15
Day 22 - Day 2 revisited - Fave Rookie Actor Pairing?
So if I remember correctly I picked Frame and Ryan on Day 2. I still support that and I want to see them in another series together
Honestly I just want them back so we can have some more of their amazing PR game and Ryans crop tops!
But in the several months since then we've had some new pairings pop up that cannot be ignored
TenonPete
I am not opposed to seeing these two have another run-out again, SamYoh didn't have enough time for me. Starhunter make me happy
GreatInn
Don't know if we will get these two again but I'm liking a new entry in to the mature pairings.
MonPak
Liked them as Wayu and Jao in Two Worlds and was excited to see them pop up as Jumper and Sean in Knock, Knock Boys! Looks like they have some guest roles in a couple of series together coming up and it seems they have been cast as the mains in Doctor's Mine.
UpPoom
If you watched My Stand In nothing else needs to be said

Ok ok ok ok listen. Because I have anxiety I feel it's my duty to say that this show won't be for everyone. I came to it over quarantine because my husband suggested we read Bernard Cornwell's series together, and I agreed because I liked Hornblower and knew this was the army equivalent and, let's face it, I wanted to see scruffy mid-thirties Sean Bean in uniform.
THE PREMISE:
Richard Sharpe is a lowborn rank-and-file soldier in the 95th Rifles during the Napoleonic Wars who is raised to an officer after saving Sir Arthur Wellesley's life (this all happens differently in the books, but the basic event is the same). Throughout the series, he rises in the ranks thanks to his bravery and heroism/recklessness, but he's always caught between two worlds--trying to be a leader of common men while never being accepted by the rest of the highborn officers.
Let's start with the bad:
CONS:
Look, this is a 90s drama glorifying the British army. So like, there are gonna be issues. Women are mostly romantic side pieces to be wooed and rescued, and there are plenty of subplots, verbiage, and stereotypes that didn't age well. Production values are low for the first few and so you've got battle scenes with like fifteen guys and a horse, which honestly I find endearing. But no episode is more cringey than Sharpe's Gold. Due to legal issues, the script had to be rewritten with none of the original material, and it turned into this bizarro semi-supernatural horror involving Aztec gold (in Spain, yes). It's completely different from all the other episodes, and even Sean Bean didn't like it (he called it a "mish mash," which is true). It's such a weird piece of work that we almost stopped watching the show, but we continued, and we were relieved to find that the rest of the series is markedly better. History Hack podcast does a great dive into why this episode was so whack.
PROS:
I MEAN COME ON
Sean really understood this character--absolute chaos on the battlefield and shy and awkward pretty much everywhere else. He's amazing in battle scenes and he's EPIC at acting wounded. But the scenes I replay over and over are when he's socially out of his depth and gets flustered and sputtery and so Sheffield the captions can't handle it.
Supporting cast:
You'll find a lot of your classic British TV favorites making appearances throughout this series, and the camaraderie among the riflemen is always fun. Obviously this is a dude fest, as stated above, but some of the women are also written and acted really, really well--- Assumpta Serna as Teresa is that winning combination of a love interest/action heroine who doesn't devolve into a damsel in distress, and even passes the Bechdel test on a few occasions. And Diana Perez as Ramona is so badass and enjoyable.
Locations: Aside from a few interior sets, these films are mostly shot outside on location, with practical effects and stunts. There's some gorgeous scenery of the Crimean peninsula standing in for Spain and Portugal, and it's just really fun watching these guys run around rocky escarpments and fields with flares and stage explosives going off around them.
Music: I saw someone tag the opening theme as "electric guitar jumpscare" and they're not wrong. It's wonderfully anachronistic and totally 90s and you'll never get used to it. But far better are the soldiers' songs John Tams threads throughout, as well as his and Muldowney's thematic scores, and you will always, always finish an episode with him singing "Over the Hills and Far Away" stuck in your head.
Filming Lore: There was a LOT that happened during filming. Everything from Paul McGann having to drop out as the lead to misadventures in filming in Crimea just after the collapse of the Soviet Union. History Hack podcast has an awesome series of "filming of" episodes with input from cast, crew, and historians, and Jason Salkey (Rifleman Harris) has a book called "From Crimea With Love" that details the batshit filming adventures. I haven't read it but he references it every six minutes throughout the podcasts.
So: you've been warned, you've been primed. Start with Sharpe's Rifles; it's on Youtube. Watch it and Eagle, maybe jump to Battle or Siege if you're not sure, and then make up your mind.
If this all sounds enjoyable to you, but you wish there were more tall ships, more Paul McGann, more heroic brooding, and even MORE true love cosplaying as masculine camaraderie, you're in luck! Because you should also watch Hornblower!
And then draw fan art of it all! Please,,, I am so lon el y

Read Paper Trail a few years back, and the. I discovered you made EldritchRune, and binged it all in a single night. EXCELLENT WORK! Absolutely amazing comic, taking the tone and story of Delta and making it a lot more explorative than the series is. The scene with Sean in particular got to me, you’re very good at suspenseful writing.
Awww thank you so much! I'm so glad that you enjoyed both of those stories, it's definitely been fun to try something different and new with Eldritchrune! And hopefully there'll be more scenes with Seam in the future!

Ivy - Part 5
gif by: @hotch-girl <3
Aaron Hotchner x Fem!Reader (Sean Hotchner x Fem!Reader)
Series summary: Your relationship with your boyfriend, Sean, is going great. Well, that is until you meet his older brother, Aaron.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Chapter summary: angst <3 i know…very specific - but i don't wanna spoil!
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
His scent was still all around you. You were certain that you could smell him on your hair, your skin, your clothes…
Your breathing hadn’t slowed down yet and the tears were still drying on your cheeks. What had you just done?
You had let your boyfriend’s brother touch you.
But it was Aaron. Aaron: the man who had managed to steal your heart faster than anyone ever had before. Your friend, the first person you wanted to share good news with and the only one you wanted to sit in silence with you when you were sad.
Your heart was aching, your brain was screaming at you about your mistake, your eyes were teary, but the rest of your body wasn’t cooperating. Because your legs were still shaking; your thighs were still wet from your arousal; and your body was asking for him.
You could still feel the sweet numbness between your legs. It might had been wrong, but it was the most heavenly thing you’d ever felt. God, he was the best you’d ever had and you hadn’t even seen his dick yet.
A short chuckle escaped your lips; laughing at your misery was all you had left.
--
After wiping your eyes clean, you walked out of your room again. Aaron was still there. Your guess was that he didn’t want to look suspicious by leaving so suddenly.
You scanned the living room for Sean, and once you spotted him, you approached him and took his hand, resting your head on his shoulder. It would seem weird if you spent the entire evening away from him. You hated yourself for thinking that way-for plotting how not to seem guilty. Even though you were. And that’s exactly how it felt.
“All good?” he asked.
“Yeah.”
Sean invited Aaron to join the group of friends that was around you with a signal of his arm. So Aaron did.
He had a glass of whiskey in his hand. The second one for tonight, you noted in your head.
You kept staring at him, knowing that no one would notice, since no one was paying attention to you. You hadn’t spoken a word for the last twenty minutes. You just sat there, observing the conversation. That’s what you wanted: not to attract any extra attention tonight. What you didn’t want though was Aaron ignoring you.
It made sense. He was being careful. But it felt like he was slipping away from you already. And when you saw him filling another glass of whiskey you confirmed that the situation wasn’t easy for him either.
“Sean,” you whispered to your boyfriend towards the end of the night, “Please call Aaron a taxi. Don’t let him drive. He’s had a few.”
He nodded his head and kissed your forehead. “Okay.”
--
“Come here, you,” Sean said and grabbed your arm as you walked around, trying to clean up the space a little before bed.
“Sean, I have to clean,” you complained.
“Tomorrow. The sun will be up in a bit anyway. Just come here.”
You gave in and let him sit you on his lap.
“There’s my birthday girl,” he grinned. His fingers got lost between your hair as he looked at you. “Do you have any idea how beautiful you look tonight?’
“Thanks,” you laughed.
Sean kept staring at you.
His grin faded. It got you worried.
“Today made me think,” he said.
“About what?” you asked carefully.
“About how lucky I am that a woman like you was born and is now in my life.”
“Oh…”
“Sorry, I know, I’m getting all sappy and awkward,” he chuckled. “But I just…I’m grateful for you. I know I can get difficult to love sometimes.”
“Don’t say that.”
“It’s true.” His hand rubbed your thigh in a comforting motion. “But, you never let me feel that way. If you had told me a few years ago, my life would be like this, I wouldn’t have believed you. If you’d told me that I would have an amazing girlfriend, a beautiful home, that I’d be clean and following my dreams, I swear I’d laugh in your face.”
“Sean…” you started, but he cut you off.
“All I’m trying to say is that today is your birthday and it seemed like a fitting day to let you know how much I appreciate you and everything that you do for me.”
“I appreciate you too. And I’m so proud of you, Sean,” you said, and hugged him as closely as you could.
“Thank you, baby.”
--
“Are these new?” Sean questioned.
He was laying on his back, an arm under his neck and another resting across his stomach. Sean always loved staring at you taking off your clothes and makeup to get in bed.
“Oh, the earrings?” you acted naive, placing them in a different box from the original.
“Yeah, I can see them sparkling from across the room. Are those real diamonds?”
“Of course not,” you giggled.
“They look like they are.”
“Well, that’s why I bought them,” you lied.
After securing your earrings away, you left the bedroom and walked into the guest room. That’s where you had left all your presents. Aaron’s present was in there too. Well, the present that was for the world to see anyway.
You missed him. You just wanted to smell the flowers he got you for a moment, feel close to him again.
Sean was in the mood earlier, but you told him you were tired. Still, you made out for a few minutes and his hands were all over you. The hands of the man whose touch you used to crave, now made you miss another man.
A smile took over your face when you spotted the flowers. He was the only one who had gotten you your favorites.
You brought the bouquet close to your face so you could smell them. That’s how you noticed there was a little card inside.
You are a light to everyone around you and most of all to me. Happy birthday, sweetheart.
The card was soon attacked by your kisses.
--
Not talking to Aaron was one of the most difficult things you ever had to do.
He hadn’t messaged you or called you in weeks now. You missed him like crazy, but you didn’t dare to make the first move.
What if he regretted it? What if he realized this was a mistake and didn’t want to see you again? Even if those thoughts broke your heart, you had no choice but to accept things as they were.
You couldn’t even count the times you had reached out for your phone, to message him something, knowing it would make him laugh, only to remember that he wasn’t your friend anymore.
Like that Saturday morning, when you were making pancakes. You had tried to make heart-shaped pancakes with chocolate chips. It was an absolute failure.
After taking a few pictures, laughing at yourself, you were dying to send them to Aaron.
If it was any other time, you would have already. The caption would be “Wanna come over for breakfast?”
He’d say “I’ll pass. I’d rather spend my weekend without food poisoning.”
God, you missed him.
His flowers had dried up but you kept one of them and hid it between the pages of your favorite book.
--
The bell of your front door rang. That was weird…Sean never forgot his keys.
Opening the door you were met with a surprise.
“Aaron? Wh-what are you doing here?”
“Y/N!” you heard a little voice and soon your waist had two tiny arms wrapped around it.
You looked down only to find Jack staring at you with a huge grin.
“My sweet angel, how are you?”
“I’m good. We went to the grocery store today,” he said.
“Really?”
“Yes! And we met uncle Sean there and he told us to come here so we can all eat together,” he jumped, excited by telling you the story.
Well that explained why the man you were madly in love with and who you hadn’t talked to since your birthday was standing on your door.
“Where’s Sean?” you asked Aaron, while Jack was settled by your side, completely attached to you.
“He’s getting your groceries from the car,” he said. He looked good. He somehow looked even better than the last time you had seen him. Or maybe you just missed him.
Jack begged you to let him sit in your lap while eating, and of course you did, even though his dad was being a pain in the ass like always and insisted that it was impractical.
Sean was sitting on the chair next to you and Aaron was sitting across from you.
You were quite literally surrounded by Hotchners.
It was a blessing that Jack kept distracting you with questions and random facts about his life, because otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to take your eyes off Aaron. Off his hands…his mouth…parts of him that had touched your skin; your skin that was now burning under his gaze.
You couldn’t resist stealing glances at him. He was doing the same. The feeling of looking into his eyes was one of your favorite feelings in the world and you finally had the chance to experience it again. How could you stop?
Aaron kept the conversation casual, mostly asking you questions about work. Asking you things he already very well knew. But Sean would be surprised if he found out he did, and that was something both of you didn’t want. It was already a close call that when earlier, somehow, Oprah was brought up in the conversation, the two of you burst out laughing, remembering that this was your nickname for him when he got all wise about emotions and life.
You both covered your mouths with your hands as if it would hide the fact that you were giggling like little kids.
“Why are they laughing?” Sean asked Jack.
The kid just shrugged his shoulders, directing all his attention to the cheesecake in front of him.
It could have been a sign that you and Aaron were closer than you cared to show Sean, but it made you happy; laughing with him again. Maybe you were still friends.
When dinner was over, Jack fell asleep on your couch and that left you and the two brothers at the table alone.
“So…Aaron,” Sean said, bringing a glass of wine to his lips. “We keep talking and talking, but you haven’t told us. Is there anyone special in your life this period?”
You froze. Because if he were to say yes, you were already planning your exit to the bathroom so you could cry in peace.
You were feeling possessive over a man who wasn't yours.
“Come on, don’t be shy. We’re a family,” Sean urged him to talk when he stayed silent.
Aaron looked at you for half a second. If you had blinked you would have missed it. But you didn’t.
“There is one,” he said quietly.
You felt tightness in your chest.
“Or was,” he added. “We don’t talk anymore.”
Oh.
“Why?” Sean asked.
“It’s complicated,” Aaron simply stated.
“Come on, give us something,” he said. If only you knew, babe, you thought.
“It’s a long story. I don’t really wanna talk about it.” There was sadness in his voice. He missed you too.
“Well if the story’s over, time to move on to the new one right?” Sean said, and took a sip of his wine.
Aaron looked down, letting out a bitter laugh.
Sean read his reaction, so he changed his tone to a serious one. “She must be really special to you, huh?”
“She is. She was the light of my life.”
If you could just pull him by his collar and drown him in kisses, you would.
Later, Sean let you walk Aaron – with a sleeping Jack in his arms – to the door, as he cleaned up the table.
The door was a good way to hide yourself from the rest of the house and finally look at Aaron the way you had been dying to all night. He was smiling at you. He was smiling.
“I miss you,” you mouthed at him.
His smile turned into a sexy smirk. “I miss you more,” he mouthed back.
Securing Jack is his arms even tighter he leaned in and, after letting you check for any signs of Sean around you, he kissed you. It was a quick kiss - him taking your bottom lip in his mouth for a few seconds - but it was enough for your stomach to fill with butterflies.
“I’ll text you,” he whispered against your lips and walked with his son back to his car.
--
“What’s wrong?” Sean asked you, clearly having noticed that you had been checking your phone every five minutes.
“Just waiting for an email from work.” You dropped your phone on the cushions of your couch.
That wasn’t the truth. You were waiting for a text from Aaron. You were supposed to meet that evening, but you hadn’t heard from him all day. That was so unlike him.
This was the first time you would meet alone after everything that had happened. He wouldn’t ghost you like that.
The nightmare you had the night before with him in it, had you carrying a bad feeling inside you all day. You tried your best to ignore it.
--
The ground beneath Aaron’s feet felt cold. He wasn’t wearing any shoes when he got out of that yellow, vintage car.
As he walked into the theater in front of him, his hospital gown changed into a sharp suit and a white bowtie, without him realizing.
Suddenly a red balloon appeared in front of him, which he followed with no hesitation.
And that was when he saw her.
“Hi, honey. I saved you a seat,” she beamed at him.
--
“Yes. We’ll be there in about twenty minutes, we’re already in the car,” Sean said to the person he was talking on the phone with.
“Aaron suddenly collapsed at work. They took him to the hospital.”
You hadn’t been able to breathe since you heard that sentence. The window of Sean’s car was supporting your head as you stared outside.
Your headache was getting worse by holding back the tears and the road to the hospital seemed to have no end.
--
Aaron couldn’t help the tears from falling down his cheeks as he took Haley’s hand in his and called her beautiful.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” she responded with a smile.
“I miss you,” he whispered to her.
“I know.” The sound of a film playing distracted her. “Oh, it’s starting!”
Suddenly Jack’s sweet face was on a big screen in front of them; cheering up his dad on his marathon, holding his homemade sign as high as he could.
“Look how happy he is,” Haley sighed, with the selfless love of a mother. “He’s gotten so big.” And she wasn’t there to see it.
“You’re really good with him,” she commented, watching Aaron reading to Jack a bedtime story.
“I’m not you. I’m not good enough.”
“Stop beating yourself up. You’re a great dad. You always have been.” She looked so honest. Maybe if he tried hard enough, he could believe her.
“It gets hard. And I’m alone,” Aaron’s voice broke.
“No, you’re not.”
How real it felt that she was there…wiping his tears away with her hands, comforting him with her words; telling him he should talk to Jack more…he knew he should.
“Goal!” she cheered for her son. You should have been there, he wanted to tell her.
She should have been there. Life was so unfair.
--
Walking into the hospital made everything suddenly very real. You had your feelings under control so far, but arriving there broke you.
“Where is he?” Sean asked a blonde woman he apparently already knew. She must be Penelope, you thought.
“He’s in surgery. We have no news.”
“Is he gonna be okay?” you asked her, desperate, as if she had all the answers.
“We hope,” she smiled, but she was clearly emotional. Her presence somehow brought you a certain type of comfort you couldn’t explain, even though she was a stranger to you.
“He will be,” Sean added, and placed his hand on your shoulder.
You couldn’t help yourself. You tried to keep your sobs silent by covering half of your face with your hand.
Sean pulled you into his arms and you let yourself cry against his chest.
“Shh…” he moved his palm up and down your back. “He’ll be okay.”
You knew how bad it looked; sobbing in your boyfriend’s arms for his brother. But you didn’t care. All that mattered to you was getting your Aaron back.
--
Aaron blinked slowly when your face appeared on the screen.
“Who’s that?” Haley asked him, and he felt as if he was back in high school and a friend was teasing him about a crush.
“That’s Y/N,” he said, softly.
“She’s beautiful.”
You were. God, you were more beautiful than his heart could take.
“Jack loves her!” Haley spoke again, when she saw you with the little boy in your lap.
“He does. She makes him happy,” Aaron said.
“It looks like she makes you happy too. It’s good that you have her in your life.”
“She’s not mine,” he said with regret.
“To me it looks like she is,” she smirked.
Their conversation was interrupted by a man, trying to find his own seat in the theater. “Excuse me. Ah…Sorry. Pardon me,” he said, sitting right next to Haley. “I hope I didn’t miss anything.”
Aaron felt his blood turn cold. “What’s he doing here?”
“Oh, it’s okay. I invited him,” Haley reassured him. He felt confused.
“She is hot,” Foyet said when he noticed you.
“Mmm…Isn’t she?” Haley agreed.
“I would tear that up,” Foyet laughed cruelly. “Hey, I bet she's a real tiger in the sack, huh?”
Aaron wanted to beat him to death like he did the first time. He couldn’t let his poison reach you too. Not you.
A gunshot was heard, and he knew he couldn’t stop it, but he tried to anyway.
He had to relive Haley’s death all over again.
--
Sean had left the waiting room to bring you - and the woman you now knew for sure was Penelope - some food and coffee.
“You’re his favorite you know,” you whispered to her ear even though it was just the two of you there.
“Who, Sean’s? she asked confused.
“No,” you laughed. “Aaron’s.”
“Really?” she said, excited.
“Mhm…he talks about you guys all the time. And I can tell he has a soft spot for you,” you admitted. “He says the team would be lost without you.”
“Well, that’s true,” Penelope said. “But sweet…We all love him. He’s like our dad,” she joked making you laugh.
But by laughing, tears were formed in your eyes again. You tried to wipe them away, but she saw them.
“Hey…he’s gonna be alright. Our big boss-man doesn’t give up that easily,” she attempted to comfort you.
“I know,” your voice broke. “I know. I just…I really need to look into his eyes right now and know that he’s okay.”
“You will.” She held your hand and gave you a sweet smile.
--
“Well this was fun,” Haley said, walking away from him.
“I don’t want you to go. Stay, just a little while longer,” he asked her, desperate to get more time with her.
But she wouldn’t stay.
“I don’t know what to do,” he admitted to her. She wasn’t Haley, his wife, anymore. She was Haley, his oldest friend; the person who used to know him better than anyone; the person he could ask for advice. So that’s what he was doing.
“Happiness is a choice,” she told him. “So choose.”
“How can I choose what makes me happy if it’s wrong?”
“Get out of your head. The heart is the one that knows, so follow it.”
“But don’t you think I’m a horrible person?” Aaron asked.
“No,” she smiled at him. “I think you’re just unlucky. You fell in love with someone you shouldn’t.”
Aaron stayed silent. Foyet was the one who said goodbye first. Then it was Haley’s turn. “Goodbye, Aaron. And, yes, I still love you too,” she said and disappeared.

TMF Headcanons!
(Because they’re a precious little found family and I love that for them.)
🩵Hailey spends several hours scrolling through Pinterest.
💜Zander has a massive black cat plushie hidden away in his room.
🧡Luke has about 200 hours in Animal Crossing, and is emotionally attached to all his villagers.
🩷Milly shops at Hot Topic.
💙Sean tends to keep his headphones on during class, and only catches about half of what the teacher says.
🩵Hailey had a horse girl phase, while Zander’s always been terrified of horses.
💜Zander braided Hailey’s hair a lot when they were younger.
🧡Luke has an entire photo album full of pipctures he took of Zander.
🩷Milly had a dragon phase.
💙Sean’s considered the father of the group, as well as the group therapist.
🩵Hailey and Milly paint each other’s nails.
💜Zander has a habit of stealing the bathroom for hours on end just to make sure he looks his best. He’s very particular about his appearance, especially about his hair.
🧡Luke’s hair is usually pretty messy, but it’s always in an aesthetic way. None of the other club members know how he does it.
🩷Milly refuses to wear skirts.
💙Sean has a terrible sleep schedule due to balancing work, school, and club activities. His parents constantly arguing doesn’t help much either, which leads to him passing out sometimes during club meetings. Usually, the group tends to let him rest.
🩵Hailey loves blueberry lemonade.
💜Zander drinks grape juice out of wine glasses to feel sophisticated.
🧡Luke has a stash of grape juice at his house specifically for Zander.
🩷Milly’s really good at Hip-Hop styled dance. She’s tried to get Sean to do TikTok dances with her, and it usually never works out too well, considering Sean has two left feet.
💙Sean really good at both cooking and cleaning. (He’d make an amazing housewife.)
🩵Hailey’s a Swiftie, and has learned many of her songs on guitar.
💜Zander steals Luke’s clothes all the time, and Luke loves seeing Zander wear them.
🧡Luke and Zander have matching bracelets they made together.
🩷Milly listens to death metal.
💙Sean often takes walks late at night, putting his headphones on full volume and allowing himself to daydream.
🩵Hailey hasn’t seen nor read Heartstopper, yet knows several quotes from the series purely from how much Zander says them.
💜When Heartstopper came out on Netflix, Zander and Luke watched it together, and they both cried.
🧡Luke will listen to Zander ramble on and on about his interests, because he likes listening to Zander’s voice, and he likes learning about Zander’s interests so they have something to talk about.
🩷Milly’s love language is giving surprise hugs.
💙Sean’s love language is sharing his music playlists, and creating playlists for others.
🩵Hailey and Zander both drink tea a lot. Hailey tends to put sugar and cream in hers, whereas Zander drinks his without.
💜Zander can walk better in heels than Hailey can.
🧡Every year for the holidays, the Music Club plays Secret Santa. Luke was the one who started the tradition.
🩷Milly has no problem picking up bugs, and as a result, she’s usually the one to deal with them whenever they get inside the club room. (Zander’s also terrified of bugs, and Milly has chased him around while holding one multiple times.)
💙Sean gives the best hugs.
🩵Hailey and Zander host sleepovers a lot.
💜Zander has RBF.
🧡Luke tends to suppress his own feelings in favor of focusing on Zander’s.
🩷Milly’s always getting herself into dangerous situations on accident, and there have been numerous times Sean’s carried her under his arm after she tries doing something stupid.
💙Despite being the group’s therapist, Sean doesn’t like talking about his own problems in fear he’d be seen as a burden. He’s opened up to Milly a bit, but not much.

I think your sleep headchanons are spot in amazing for the characters. But can i request a charles sleeping version pls :)
Charles and Sleep
Yet another series of Headcanons
(How did this become a series?)
Hi Anon!
Glad you liked my writing, Thank you for asking!! 💝
Little bit of an insomniac.
Started while he was alone on the trail, because sleeping with no one to stand guard is very risky and he didn't like leaving himself that vulnerable. So he got into the habit of sleeping as little as possible and in short bursts.
This man's sleep schedule is non-existent.
In camp he's no better as he takes odd houred patrol shifts and picks them up if he feels that someone (coughseancough) is slacking.
Needless to say he's a very light sleeper. Just about anything and everything wakes him up, he's more likely dozing than ever truly sleeping.
When he first joined the gang this turned into a bit of a problem, as they aren't the quietest bunch. He resorted to riding out every few days to have a good nap with Taima, so that they wouldn't snap at anyone.
He does sleep better with Taima nearby. She doesn't like strangers, kicking up a fuss everytime one approaches, and Charles has learned to trust in this. Able to sleep a bit deeper with Taima standing guard.
That's right. Both man and horse get grumpy when they're sleepy. The rabble rousing habits of Sean and Swanson have made them frequent victims of Charles' blunt appraisals and Taima's sharp teeth.
Arthur seems to be the only one safe from earning their ire, inviting Charles on relaxing trips away from the hubbub of camp and spoiling Taima with sweet peppermints.
Charles isn't a fan of cuddling while trying to sleep, doesnt like the restriction of it, but he does like having small points contact. An ankle crossed over his, the backs of his fingers brushing an arm, an elbow loosely splaying out to graze ribs, or even just his boot pressed firmly against anothers. He finds the contact very reassuring. Having the tactile proof of a friend or ally nearby calms him.
Charles actually runs pretty cold, hence why he usually keeps bundled up in long sleeves or his hooded jacket. In camp he always tries to make sure his bedroll is under a tent that's nearest to a fire.
Would love nothing more than to bundle down under a mountain of blankets, with a hot fire nearby and maybe a friend with whom he could share the warmth and keep eachother safe. But also feels this is a bit ridiculous for a grown man to want.
Very jealous of Arthur for how warm he is and slightly more jealous of Javier for being confident enough to shamelessly mooch that warmth.
He usually sleeps on his back with his bow close to hand, and his knife closer. In camp he still keeps his knife close, but he usually feels safe enough to leave his bow with his saddle.
Is his knife a kind of security blanket? Probably. But it makes him happy, so we won't judge.
(did a little bit of charthur slip in there? yes. but I am a simp and these are my headcanons so who's really surprised)

Edit: OML I DIDNT MEAN TO POST THIS I meant to save this to drafts 😭 Alr Im gonna add some things
The new UrbanSPOOK episode sure was something huh? I wanna talk about a few things (there's a lot so bear with me)
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR URBANSPOOK: HELL (don't worry I wont display any of the paintings or images from the episodes)
First thing I wanna talk about is Mona and Bill eating some of their victims. I actually had this theory at some point that they were eating people because of Sean. His painting was "The Man In The Pipes", so at first I assumed he was stuffed down a pipe in the home, but then FAMILY was uploaded, alongside the painting of the supposed fetus shoved down Paul's throat. Im too lazy to check, but if I remember right, the painting's name was scribbled out except for the word "pipe" or something like that. I know pipe was in there at some point. Maybe the pipes Sean's painting was referring to was their esophagus, since the fetus's painting was referring to Paul's windpipe bc that's how he died. Plus, Sean's painting has more red than anything, just like the fetus painting did. We've seen the painter (Mona or Bill, whoever is making the paintings...probably Mona) would most likely have drawn out the pipe since she LOVES her detail in paintings.
Next thing is how much better this episode was compared to previous ones. The only bad thing in the new episode was the bucket, but besides that there weren't really any bad themes. I watched the new episode through Baz's reaction video, and he even showed a screenshot of Urban saying he would make this and episode 10 better than the previous episodes, so good on him!! And the new episode wasn't just theme-wise better, it was VISUALLY better too. The video footage style was amazing, and don't get me started on the last part where they went into Tina's house for the wellness check and caught the killers. Also major props to Tina's voice actress in this, she did AMAZING. She screamed her heart out at the last part, good lord 😭
A smaller part, but I wanna mention how this episode had one of the scariest parts yet I've seen in the whole series. At the end of the episode where Mona has her hands raised because of the cop, she's just...standing there. Neither of them speak after a moment, and the only sound is Tina's screams. Then a distorted smile can be seen on the screen...Mona is just staring at the cop with a smile. She doesn't care that Bill is dead. She doesn't care about Tina's screams. She's smiling like she didnt do anything. And she isnt moving a single muscle. That smile is the last thing Tina ever saw. Mona is happy and has no regrets.
Another thing I want to mention is how Bill Collins was one of the killers. We already knew that because of the morse code thingy from PIGS, but that raises some questions. 1: Where the hell is Jack Stryker?? For those who don't know, Im talking about Tina's boyfriend from WITNESS that randomly went missing while Tina and Flora were getting attacked. He had a painting, so he's probably dead and/or the painters ate him. 2: Who was the fourth/third face in the Collin's photo montage? In LIGHTHOUSE, we find out Bill Collins went missing, his family was found dead yada yada. I don't remember if Bill Collin's had three or four other family members, but ther was another photo amongst the others that probably shouldn't have been there. The baby was dead, yes, but she was found in the attic and not in the mush barrel with the rest of her family. Which means one of those photos is probably not Bill and another victim maybe?? 3: What's his motive? Clearly he had to have snapped or something to go kill a bunch of people. He's probably the reason all the cops and investigators related to the case died (Sean, Sarah, Ian, etc). As we've seen, Bill acted in a feral-like state while working with Mona, him barking while helping her in the murders and roaring at the cop in the video footage before being shot. So what exactly is his motive?? Maybe Mona will say in episode 10 during the trial or we'll just never know. I will say this, when it showed his human picture in LIGHTHOUSE after stating he went missing, it was the only photo that didnt look...real. It looked more like a drawing than an actual photo like all the other ones. Bill was clearly as dangerous as Mona, but why did he decide to work with Mona, especially after his family died? Maybe it was a last resort and Mona agreed to it? (but they probably teamed up with Fred too to get drugs from him, but we all saw how that turned out) So why did Mona decide to let Bill work with her, and why did Bill want to work with Mona? I really wanna know this in episode ten.
There are a few things Im still wondering. We don't know how some of the victims died and Im actually REALLY curious about that. Ian, Jimmy (who I think may be the fourth photo found by the Collin's flesh barrel), Sean (yeah I said earlier I predicted they ate him but we don't know how he died), the two girls in the lighthouse (I forgot their names but Im too lazy to check 🤯), and some of the victims found in the new episode inside of the Paint Factory. Maybe Mona will reveal how she killed them?? Maybe not?? Idk I guess we just have to wait for it to play out
That's all I really have to say. Oogily boogily 🤯🤯🤯

shows that were cancelled
(but were pretty good and should've gotten more seasons)
the society (2019)
synopsis:
a group of teenagers go on a school trip, but are forced to return to their town because of a storm; only to realize that everyone on the town has vanished. the series shows them trying to understand what happened and finding ways to survive on their own.
genre: mystery, teen drama
starring: kathryn newton, gideon adlon, sean berdy, natasha liu bordizzo, jacques colimon, olivia dejonge, alex fitzalan, kristine froseth
platform: netflix
thoughts:
i was so surprised when this show got cancelled. it didn't really have the biggest audience but a little before it got cancelled (if i'm not wrong), its popularity grew. and before it got cancelled, it was already renewed for a s2 but because of covid affecting production (idk how), they had to cancel, and of course i was very pissed bc it's a really good show. it was interesting because you legitimately had no idea why they disappear, you can only assume.
fate: the winx saga (2021-2022)
synopsis:
after causing a fire in her family home, bloom peters is invited to attend alfea college for fairies to work on her skills and learn how to control her magic.
genre: teen drama, supernatural, fantasy
starring: abbey cowen, hannah van der westhuysen, precious mustapha, eliot salt, elisha applebaum, danny griffin, sadie soverall
platform: netflix
thoughts:
i love this show so much, i am still very upset that they cancelled it. i understand that at first it got a lot of backlash because they replaced flora with terra and musa was white instead of asian. and people hated the fashion as well. i get all of that. but i also feel like the writers really learned to listen to people more as the show went on because s2 was such a big difference compared to the first one, and that's why the audience grew because the fashion was better, the plot was better, all around it was much better. so i was really looking forward to see how the writers would make the show better than it was, and it surprised me when it got cancelled bc it was pretty popular and it had a lot of potential. i miss the cast so much, and i really wish we could've seen more of them.
grease: rise of the pink ladies (2023)
synopsis:

genre: musical, romantic drama

platform: paramount+ (they removed it, so you'd have to look for it on the web)
thoughts:
i fear paramount is not seeing the pearly gates for cancelling this show. it was absolute amazing, the chemistry between the main girls and the t birds. the cliffhanger, the music, the plot, the inclusion, it was all wonderful. what pisses me off the most about this cancellation is that they did it a few weeks after the last episode aired, like literally not even a month after. and it sucks because it's been shown time and time again that some shows need time to grow in order to reach more people. an example of this is on my block. barely anyone watched on my block s1, but by the time on my block s2 was released more people were watching, and the same thing happened with each season. same thing happened with fate: the winx saga. so i don't really understand why they didn't give it a chance. plus a lot of these actors are young and this was one of their first acting experiences on tv and they did absolutely amazing. i totally recommend it if you're into musicals.

Even the "NCIS" origin story for Austin Stowell has a Cracker Jack opening.
The impossibly rugged actor, 39, had tried to clear his mind after his February audition for "NCIS: Origins," the prequel series to the CBS police procedural (premiering Monday, 9 EDT/PDT, after the 22nd season opener of the OG series). After all, these were high stakes seeking the coveted role of young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, famously embodied by Mark Harmon for 19 TV glory-filled seasons. Gibbs is the guy in the "NCIS" universe, even after the iconic character retired to fly-fishing in Alaska when Harmon stepped aside in 2021.
So Stowell went off the grid, skiing with Charlie Jennings, his best friend and agent. It was robust bliss, until Stowell received a miracle message on the reception-patchy mountaintop saying Harmon, an "Origins" executive producer and narrator, wanted to talk.
"Mark wanted to speak to me, and you can guess what about," says Stowell, who went ski-hill rogue. "We had to get down the mountain and get reliable service ASAP. We race down that hill, take off our gear, jump into the Jeep, and fly down the highway to get reliable service. And we do. Mark calls. We literally pull off the highway."
Harmon signaled that Stowell would very likely get the role of his younger "NCIS" self in CBS' "Origins."
"Mark was very complimentary. He said, 'It's been you from the second you walked in the room," Stowell says. "And he asked me, 'Are you ready for this?'"
Austin Stowell said after 'Star Wars' casting disappointment: 'Onward!'
Oh, he's ready. Stowell has been prepping for takeoff since earning a guest role in 2010 on "NCIS: Los Angeles" and playing a big-hearted swim champion in two "A Dolphin Tale" movies alongside KrisKristofferson. ("He was an amazing man, talk about a real-life superhero," Stowell says. The music legend died lastmonth at age 88).
Stowell even had a serious run at a major "Star Wars" movie role with J.J. Abrams. He was flown to London's Pinewood Studios and donned the "Star Wars" costume and makeup for a day. But the role went to another actor. "Of course. it's devastating," Stowell says. "This is a wonderful job, but the process is tough. But I always have said the same thing when I don't get a job: 'Onward.'"
Austin Stowell was hard to reach after 'NCIS: Origins' audition: 'So Gibbs'
After his memorable audition, "Origins" executive producers Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North faced familiar reception issues when they called to officially offer Stowell the role. "He was out in a cabin in the middle of the woods with no internet and almost missed our call," North says. "I got off the phone and said, 'That's so Gibbs.'"
Says Stowell: "One phone call that changes your life. And two phone calls that I nearly missed. But the Hollywood gods were looking out for me."
Monreal says his physical likeness to Harmon was important. But "Origins" places Gibbs in 1991 as a green Naval Investigative Service officer at California's Camp Pendleton, where the former Marine sniper deals with the murder of his wife and daughter. That required a presence that Stowell, who can turn on full Gibbs with one soulful-eyed look, inhabited.
In "Origins," Gibbs is far from the ultra-competent special agent in command. He's an unsteady newbie dealing with his trauma after failing his psychological evaluations. It was this raw premise, based on "NCIS" lore, that made Harmon's son Sean, who had played the young Gibbs in "NCIS" flashbacks, pitch "Origins." (He's now an executive producer.)
Young Gibbs has immediate "Origins" supporters, including Special Agent Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) and his eventual mentor Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid), whose power mustache is a scene stealer. "He's electric," Stowell says. "I already joke with him that we are going to see Franks' mustaches at Halloween parties."
Stowell dived into research, reading 1980 U.S. Marine manuals to understand the life and taking long runs with a weighted-down backpack. He stepped up the rifle training he learned in 2018's Chris Hemsworth-led Afghanistan war film "12 Strong" to look silently confident with Gibbs' rifle. Stowell still binge-watches "NCIS" episodes to pick up small mannerisms.
"I want to embody his essence. There are Gibbs-isms," Stowell says. "There is a head nod and he has this stare."
That stare, and Harmon's intense blue eyes, are so pivotal that Stowell wears blue contact lenses over his naturally green eyes. Seeing the world that way changes his perspective: "They make me feel different," he says. "They're such a powerful tool."
Harmon appears near a campfire in the "Origins" opening. The camera zooms up close on his stare, which morphs into Stowell's haunted look.
"It's not the passing of the throne; Mark Harmon has the throne," Stowell says. "If it's the passing of the torch, he lit the torch. It's my job to show how this kid becomes that guy that people admire so much. But I get to play one of the world's greatest heroes. And that's pretty rock and roll."
