I'll watch your waves roll out onto the shoreline, unable to wade in your abyss, skipping stones on the surface.

Our daughter keeps asking me if the reason my wife and I are arguing so often is that she isn’t small anymore. Does anyone have advice on explaining to her that that isn’t the problem, the problem is that I keep asking for unreasonable things? I’m worried that if I try to explain it to her I’ll only make things worse.

I have a question for the internet. My wife doesn’t want to let our daughter take the train alone. Is this normal? She’s almost two. I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable and she’ll yell at me if I bring it up.

Is there something unusually dangerous about your area? I mean, I live in a yellow neighborhood, so it's not exactly the same, but I don't know a single person who wasn't using the train by the time they were in school.

The crime rate is higher, since it’s a grey neighborhood, but most of the crimes are muggings and she's too young to carry valuables.

Seacircle, Can I recommend this online home economics course for Sanan? [link to an online course entitled Personal Economics for The Viridiantly Challenged] It's free, and I think she might benefit; responsible budgeting should have enough flex room for some emergency noodles no matter how much ni pinching you need to do.

The issue isn’t with Sanan, the issue is with me. Since she keeps track of the budget, she’s the one who knows how much money is left.Allowing flexibility in which purchases I need to clear could lead to me wasting money on unnecessary items that I didn’t realize I needed to check with her about.. That could have disastrous effects on our ability to afford more children.

Frankly, your suggestion that my wife isn’t green enough to understand budgeting is absurd. My wife is perfectly intelligent and responsible.

Vehicle *accidents*? That sounds horrifying! Why is anyone allowed to operate a *vehicle* on their *own* if they're going to be *reckless*?

Unfortunately, just as in any profession, people are sometimes careless. Some nurses give incorrect dosages of medicine to patients, some architects design buildings that fall down, and some drivers crash their vehicles.

Furthermore, sometimes accidents happen for reasons other than driver recklessness. For example, if a child runs into the path of a vehicle, there might not be enough time for the vehicle to stop, not due to recklessness but due to space constraints.

Like, fainting in the middle of your workday because you couldn't get a Munchee Bar from the vending machine will also be bad for your ability to afford kids? Sometimes someone on the train accidentally grabs your bag, or you get called out of the office unexpectedly, and that's what pocket change is *for*.

I’m not so delicate as to faint when I miss a single meal.

Under normal circumstances, I could just ask her about it, and it wouldn’t be an issue. We can’t plan for every contingency.

Please stop insulting my wife.
