not sure if this is a hot take, but tell me how the University of Minnesota just got screwed over again for the ncaa playoffs regional.
like we are the #1 overall seed, yet not only did we get two other minnesota teams in our regional, BOTH are in the top 10 (according to pairwise).
All three of the other 1 seeds in the regionals got WAY better/easier paths to the frozen four. This is partially because Penn States gets to “host a regional” and gets to be at home. It’s also because they wanted to send teams closer to certain regions (I.e. Harvard to Bridgeport, etc.)
But like, NCAA JUST MAKE IT FAIR. Why are we screwing over the #1 OVERALL SEEDED TEAM!
It’s a little something I like to call the anti-Minnesota agenda. You’ll see it in any sport at the U, but for some reason referees and ncaa folks hate the U!
We ended up in Fargo bc we finished first in the pairwise, so we get the closest regional. Why the other 3 are out east idk? The rule is that a host school gets to play at home if they make the tourney. If UND, had made it, we probably would’ve either played them in the first round or been at a different regional.
Why MSU and SCSU ended up in our region, I have no clue. It’s the toughest region out of the 4 by a landslide. I mean the U split both series with SCSU and MSU this year.
On top of that, the CCHA (MSU’s conf) and NCHC (SCSU’s conf) are full of junior hockey age outs while the B1G has more “true freshman” (ie Jimmy Snuggerud and L*g*n C**l*y). Tell me how a team of 24-25 year olds playing a team of 20 year olds is fair. Hm?
I mean my family will be at the 2nd round regardless of who the gophers play should they beat canisius, but I’m sick and tired of the death region and the obvious hatred of my school.

❝Both my parents were a little skeptical, I think they wanted to make sure I wanted to play for me and not just because of my brother. They wanted me to feel like I was my own person and I didn’t pick goalie just to be kind of different from him, but that I actually wanted to be a goalie.❞ —Taylor Crosby

UND Hockey: Looking for the Silver Lining
The University of North Dakota men’s hockey team is closing in on their third National Collegiate Hockey Conference regular-season title. This past weekend, against St. Cloud, UND took one of a possible six points (3-3 T, and 1-2 L).
Friday’s game was officially a tie. The Huskies took the extra point in the shootout. It’s a shame that a conference hockey game has to be decided by a sudden-death…

VEGAS (April 3, 2018) - Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, April 3, that the team has signed free agent defenseman Jimmy Schuldt to a one-year, entry level contract.
Schuldt, a Hobey Baker Award Finalist, recently finished his senior year with St. Cloud State University. He led all defensemen in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) with 35 points (10 G, 25 A) and helped lead the Huskies to a regular-season conference title and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Minnetonka, Minnesota native wrapped up his collegiate career as one of the most prolific players in SCSU history. He appeared in 156 games with the Huskies and recorded 118 points (38 G, 80), which ranks first among defensemen in school history. Schuldt was named a Hobey Baker Award Finalist during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and was the only repeat Hobey Baker top ten finalist. He was also named the 2018-19 NCHC Player of the Year, earned the 2018-19 NCHC Defensive Defenseman Award, named to the 2018-19 All-NCHC First Team, earned the NCHS Scholar-Athlete Award and earned numerous other honors during collegiate career.
Schuldt, who attended the Golden Knights 2018 Development Camp in June, never missed a game in his collegiate career, playing in 156 consecutive games during his time at St. Cloud State University. He is expected to report to the Golden Knights and practice with the team during their morning skate on April 4 and will wear jersey No. 4.

Visiting Wisco one day and Ryder is in love with you the first time he sees you
I don’t know where the sudden idea came from, but here you guys go ☺️
“And this leads out toward the ice. We can go down this way so you see it. LaBahn is a nice arena, and I’ve seen my fair share of rinks. The men practice here as well and they’re kind of a rowdy bunch,” the assistant coach explains, leading you around the facility.
The locker room had been amazing and you couldn’t believe you would probably be transferring to such a nice campus. SCSU was nice, but something about it didn’t feel right. Wisconsin though? Wisconsin felt right.
You can feel the cool air of the rink as you get closer, but the coach stops suddenly, his phone ringing loudly. He frowns and checks the screen, looking over at you.
“I’m so sorry. It’s coach Johnson so I should probably take it,” he says, giving a soft smile, but then glances back towards the ice. There’s a tall hockey player walking down the hall, inevitably to their locker room that’s a few steps behind you, “actually, I bet Ryder here wouldn’t mind showing you the ice real quick. Would you, Dono?”
Ryder, as he was called, pulls off his helmet and flashes a smile that makes your breath catch in your throat, “not at all. Hi, I’m Ryder.”
You blush as you introduce yourself, feeling so small next to the cute blond. He drops his helmet, stick, and gloves near the wall and nods back towards the ice, never taking his eyes off you. You take a deep breath and follow him, a feeling in your gut building that you aren’t sure of; it’s either from the arena or this boy, but possibly both.
“So,” he clears his throat, “are you doing a commitment tour?”
You shake your head, “no, a potential transfer tour. I go to St. Cloud right now.”
Ryder’s eyes widen and his smile quickly returns, “I’m from Minnesota! Trust me, Wisconsin is the best school. You would absolutely love it here.”
“Seems like there’s plenty to do and this arena is amazing,” you say, just as you both step out behind the home bench.
The ice looks perfect and you quickly sit on the boards, letting your feet dangle above the cold surface. The red and white signs catch your attention and you forget that Ryder is even there for a split second.
He leans on the boards with his forearms, finally reaching more of your height. He’s got a look on his face that seems almost teasing. You laugh a little and nudge his shoulder.
“Why are you giving me that look?” You ask, trying to keep your voice at a normal tone.
“Because I know exactly how you’re feeling right now. It’s the same way I felt when I knew I was going here instead of North Dakota.”
You look over at him and take in his happy expression, suddenly glad you had run into him. Coach Johnson must have been some sort of saint for intervening when he did.
“I should probably transfer here, huh?” You ask quietly, picking at a scuffed piece of the plastic ledge of the boards.
“You won’t regret it. I haven’t for one second. Plus the boys’ team is pretty fun,” he smirks, standing up tall again.
You roll your eyes but smile, “that sounds like trouble to me.”
Ryder nods, knowing it was true, “yeah, but I bet you like a little trouble.”
Your head turns to him quickly, trying to figure out if you heard the flirty tone or you were making it up out of hope. Instead of responding you just give him another shrug of your shoulders. Leave him guessing a little.
“Let’s get you back to coach. I unfortunately have a tutoring lesson I need to get to,” Ryder says, starting back towards the hall.
You follow him slowly, not ready to leave the rink, campus, or Madison in general. You had your mind made up. Now you’d have to go through the tedious process of getting everything switched over and not screwing your eligibility up somehow.
Ryder says a quick goodbye as your future coach shakes his hand as a thank you. You immediately tell the coach you’re in, but even he knows your eyes are following the white #27 down the hall.
Ryder throws his stuff in his stall and grabs his phone to call his brother. Shay answers with a grumble, having his mid afternoon nap interrupted.
“Shay,” Ryder says loudly, needing his full attention, “Listen, I swear to you I just met the girl I’m going to marry one day. I’m not even kidding right now.”
