Dave Miller’s Character—From the Perspective of an Age Regressor

Slight disclaimer: This is not meant to be a 100% ‘yes this is the intended reading’ kind of analysis post on Dave Miller. I’m mostly writing this for myself more than anything, but I also feel like there is something here, intended or not! Take in mind I’m also not going to be using supplementary material like ask replies from Dogman into account, just the games! Feel free to take anything I say with a small palmful of salt ;]

So when I got back into DSAF earlier back in November, becoming familiar with Dave after realizing that I was an age regressor sort of made me put his character in a new light. Recently, I played through all three DSAF games in order, and there were several moments—particularly in DSAF 3—that sort of made me go “oh yeah, he totally is an age regressor”.

Dave’s regression is more psychological, more permanent, similar to my own, so that’s the lens I’ll be viewing Dave from for the remainder of this post. Usually, when I think of Dave, there’s a Bojack Horseman quote that pops up in my mind every time. Paraphrased from memory, it’s “People who become famous in their twenties stay in their twenties,” and I think that quote applies to Dave very well. Even Jack, who similarly died in his twenties, still matures with his franchise if we take his dialogue options at face value. Dave however, never changes all that much. Yes, his character is refined in between DSAF 1 and 2, but after that point, he remains largely stagnant.

We know that Dave associates his young adulthood to be his childhood, and seeks to recreate his childhood via Jack. Well into his middle ages in the nineties, and even after his soul is split apart between realities, even after he learns the truth of Henry, and leaves Jack, he still clings those memories. That much is obvious. Dave’s childhood at Fredbear’s is tied to him all throughout the series; it dictates how he acts, but that’s explicitly stated in the games several times. I want to dig a little deeper, because I think his regression extends more than just him being close to the diner.

Dave is incredibly childish, even for someone that’s presumably stuck in his twenties due to the experiments conducted by Henry. Henry said himself that Dave’s conscience ‘unburdened itself’ after he started taking tissue from his frontal lobe. Some aspects of his childishness include:

Talking to himself.

Being a messy eater.

Throwing tantrums. (I’m sorry for the dip in quality. I had to boot up my computer to get these specific lines of text because there was no useable footage online, and I had to use my shitty phone camera to get these pictures because Windows makes transferring screenshots to mobile devices so DIFFICULT).

And squabbling on whether Chica is a duck or not with Dee, to name a few. (I find this fight to be interesting on Dee’s end, too. Dee and Dave are foils. Dee believing herself to be an adult despite being six years old, and Dave’s childish tendencies well into his adulthood is just one of the many examples of them being foils).

Even his fears display his immaturity!

This is just off the top of my head, too! If I’ve missed something let me know!

In spite of that, Dave loves feeling useful, and I think it’s in due to the fact that Henry frequently infantilized him in their time together, and him calling Dave ‘Willy’ is only scratching the surface of examples.

(Mollycoddle means to give someone an absurd amount of protection, or pampering, typically towards men and boys).

I know that feeling of knowing that you’re less mature than your other peers, and having the need to make up for it, and I think Dave encapsulates that feeling very well.

I think what I love the most about Dave and his regression is that he’s still unapologetically raunchy! His childishness, his immaturity, his regression, whatever you want to call it—it doesn’t exempt him from that part of himself. It’s easy to associate what isn’t the perfect pastel-colored box as ‘ugly regression’, a term that I hate because it implies regression needs to look a certain way. It doesn’t; that’s not true at all. I’m very glad there’s a character like Dave I can relate to, even if I am grasping for straws out here lol

This was a really fun, self-indulgent analysis to make, and while I doubt most of it was intentional, I think there’s something you can get out of this, particularly with Dave and Henry, but that’s it for now!

Can you write a mini series with poly sinclair brothers as reader insert? Like where the timeline when house of wax takes place. Ex. Reader is apart of Carly’s group, meets Lester on the ride to Ambrose, Bo at the church, and Vincent at the house of wax? Maybe they all decide to keep reader alive and to stay at Ambrose with them? Try to suck up to them and make them feel welcome. Also Jonesy practically tackles reader to the ground with kisses upon first meeting them.

It was all fine; the jokes echoed loudly in your mind still, but the memories of the recent events made you gag. From meeting the nice, smiling man to the grieving man in the church and the long-haired man, any one of them could come for you.

Hiding in the darkroom of the house, the man named Bo brought you there with Carly; she got away, but not without a fight. The house was quiet, only your soft breaths could be heard. Now the hard steps of boots raddled the house, along with shouts sounding like Bo's.

"We need to find the third one," Bo said, sounding like he was struggling, then yelled, "No!" "Just find them." His words were stern and a wish that had come true for him as you were found knocked out and now tied to a bed you can only guess is in the house.

You stayed quiet as slow, heavy footsteps made their way through the hall and stopped at the door. You played asleep, hoping whoever it was would go away if you were asleep.

They came in, moved slower, and placed something on the nightstand. The bed dipped, and then you could feel fabric touch your skin. They said nothing before getting up, but a loud voice boomed in the small room.

"I told you not to come in here, Vincent." It was Bo; his booming voice let it know he was pissed. Vincent was quiet as he got off the bed. "Don't get mad at me because you didn't listen." Bo yelled a scuffle and stared as the house rattled with what sounded like a fight, but a new yet familiar voice yelled out.

Opening your eyes, you see Lester break up the two of them, looking pissed. "They're awake," Lester says softly, and they all look at you. Vincent rushes to your side, grabbing the glass of water that he had placed earlier.

Helping you drink in a second it was gone, letting you speck a hoarse "Thank you." He tucked you in again, making sure you were comfortable. "Don't feel too welcomed, your luck, we all agreed to your stay for now," Bo said, but Vincent shook his head and placed a hand on yours, telling you something.

Lester was quiet, but not long after, they all exited the room, leaving you tied and feeling a bit better than before with a whole new life ahead.

LSK definition is being discussed on twitter again and it’s weird how they think it refers to people believing they never broke up when THAT was to differentiate them as someone who thought they actually did breakup and have a rekindling. i have been looking for screenshots and racking my brain in the first use of this term. do you by chance remember?

i am not positive and i hope some of my kaylor twitter friends can chime in if they remember but i feel like it started on twitter maybe in 2021 and the tiktok gaylor renaissance, starting with people using the term end game kaylor i think but at some point people began to use Late Stage Kaylor (LSK) and i think the first time i ever saw the term it was tweeted by a former twitter kaylor named bre. i think she may have come up with it?

and you’re correct it was a term that was created to differentiate from the lifer kaylors (for lack of a better term) that believe they’ve never been apart all this time. because especially from late 2020 and into 2021 it was made incredibly toxic to discuss kaylor due to karlie’s life stage changes at the time. saying you believe kaylor is and is always together is asking people to more or less subscribe to the idea of hidden families which is a very big ask of most people, especially as like qanon was in its heydey, you know, at first glance kaylor felt that amount of bonkers to the average person, and if you walk people through it and break it down it’s really not but i don’t really fault the average person for feeling that way, or for anti kaylors to have been able to exploit that angle, especially given the times we were in

as an aside, at the time (folklore era) as i mentioned gaylor was going through a renaissance, ‘gaylorism’ became a term (hey when’s the last time someone used the word gaylorism) and gaylors were opening up their doors to a wider variety of newcomers, including a lot of swifties, and so we can see how there was a sort of necessity to cut kaylor off in every way shape and form in order for ‘gaylorism’ to truly become mainstream. like its not necessarily a matter of pick-me behavior although respectability politics does play a role in things but… people would get death threats and stalkers over these topics and i understand kaylor needing to get the boot for a lot of people, and why a term like LSK would be developed from within that. …and also some people were trying to get more subscribers to their patreon and so skewing more toward the center is a natural move for anyone looking to make more coin. but i digress.

so yeah, LSK was “i think they broke up sometime in 2019 so im not THAT kind of kaylor, but i think maybe they got back together more recently” and it was really a beautiful development because it somehow created an inroad that allowed further discussion of kaylor in a more lighthearted way, which i think was really needed at the time in order for the folklore of it all to persist. not everything has to be a blood pact 😆

Time to talk about the two characters I've made for FFXIV!

To preface -- you can have multiple characters attached to one account for this MMO without paying extra per character slot. Since I'm paying the Entry-level of that, I can have a total of 8 characters, 1 per server. I really don't need more than that, since I was planning on having just my main and that's it, but then I got interested in a defunct FF mobile game, and I needed to play through the story on a fresh save. So that's where #2 came in. (He'll get a separate post, if people are interested in him, too.)

Anywho! Let's get this ramble rolling -- under the cut cause it's gonna get long.

First, I'm gonna talk about my "main" character, the one I've been playing for the last two and a half years and have done...almost everything on, at this point.

I don't have any screenshots of her because I don't mess around with gpose that much and only figured out recently how to take screenshots on my PS5. Sooo -- here's the profile picture from the Lodestone for reference.

Behold, Cross Sylvan!

I didn't come up with a lot of backstory for her when I first started the game back in October 2021, right before Endwalker's release. Because miqo'te -- or cat people -- have naming conventions that have an apostrophe in their name after a "clan letter" (i.e., Y'shtola is of Clan Y, and is only Shtola to her friends), I wanted to pick something that would have something of a pun involved, and I like the word "Cross" too much to leave it out.

So she's M'Cross (pronounced Macross), but dropped the tribe letter for her own reasons. Her parents were booted from the M tribe, you see -- her mom married a male miqo'te who wasn't the leader of the tribe, and because the two of them broke tribe rules, they were kicked out.

(Further context -- the leader of a Sun Seeker tribe, the Nunh, gets to lay with every single female miqo'te in the tribe. Yes, they get a harem; no, I'm not making this up. This is in-game lore. Moon Keepers, a different group of miqo'te, tend to do it in reverse.)

Anyway, Cross' parents left their home in Gyr Abania and moved to Thanalan, a desert region located at the southern region of the continent of Aldenard, which contains the region of Eorzea (If it helps you picture the region, the continent is basically shaped like Africa, with some differences in climate). They raised her there, and Cross' father eventually left to become an adventurer, while her mother stayed at home and focused on becoming a half-decent merchant in the Silver Bazaar.

And then the events of FF14's 1.0 happened. I'm not gonna go into detail here because I didn't play 1.0 before they shut down the servers and restarted them with 2.0 as the starting point, but suffice it to say that Cross' father either died or vanished during a big battle in a place called Carteneau. During that big battle, something happened that wiped out everyone's memory of how that battle ended. It had the side-effect of preventing everyone in Eorzea from remembering certain people clearly. Including Cross' father.

So you can imagine how confusing and distraught she would be to not only realize Dad wasn't coming home -- but also that she couldn't remember his face, his voice, the sorts of things he liked to do...very traumatic.

Cross leaves five years later -- the start of 2.0 -- to become an adventurer herself. Mom got overprotective and more than a little overbearing after the Calamity, and Cross wanted to get away for a bit. She still likes her mom, she just wanted space to breathe. That, and something's driving her to travel. See the realm that her barely-remembered father sacrificed himself for.

And then the game starts, and Cross gets rapidly pulled into events that...might have been what her father had been involved in before his disappearance. She wouldn't know, much less remember.

Backstory out of the way -- time to talk about Cross as a person!

Cross is a sponge when it comes to absorbing knowledge. She's naturally curious and wants to get her nose into everything -- different jobs, cultures, food, history...you name it, she's probably got a cursory knowledge of it. As a result, that means I can say she's at least picked up every single job in the game, but she has her favorites.

Her parents taught her archery from a young age, and she has some magical talent as well. She prefers Black Mage over Bard, and between fighting melee and ranged, she'd prefer ranged. She didn't have a healing job that really clicked with her until Sage, and out of the tanking jobs, she prefers Dark Knight and Warrior. Paladin is in a strange position with her, because she believes that's how her father used to fight, and she made an effort to learn the style, but it hasn't sat right with her.

She's also picked up all the crafting and gathering jobs, but she prefers the hard work of botany and miner over the patience of fishing, and likes weaving and leatherworking more than the rest of the crafters.

As Viper and Pictomancer are the newest jobs added to the game, I haven't figured out if they're going to be among Cross' "favorites" yet, but since I like Pictomancer a lot, she's probably going to like that one, too.

Cross has a little bit of snark, a little bit of a temper, but neither really show up unless you've pushed her buttons (temper) or she's comfortable enough to let down her walls around you (snark). She's been known to trade banter with the young twins who are a part of the NPC main cast, for example, or join in the berating of other characters if her fellow miqo'te mage (another NPC) is unleashing a rather nasty burn in someone's general direction.

She likes writing music based on her surroundings. More than a few orchestrion rolls have shown up in shops based on some of her scribbles and playing around on her harp and the like. Some of the songs based on strange, faraway lands have gotten the attention of those who are too young to travel, making them want to follow in her footsteps.

She has a chocobo. His name is Cloudstreak, and she's considering changing his feather color to sky blue (yes, you can do this in-game, I just haven't done it yet). Cross has other mounts, too, but Cloudstreak is her first and favorite of the bunch.

Over the course of the first "book series" in the game (A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker), Cross grew from a young adult who was somewhat inexperienced with the world outside Thanalan to a worldly woman who has traveled extensively, and grown in confidence, knowledge, and strength as a result. She's become a hero of the realm. The Warrior of Light in more than name, because she got that title way back in A Realm Reborn and has only reshaped its meaning repeatedly since then.

She is a Traveler, and Travel she will. There's a desire to see the world beyond what she's already seen, and she will see every nook and cranny of her planet.

If you get into the game and want to see a somewhat shortened version of her journey through A Realm Reborn...I've got a fanfic going for her. The Chronicles of a Young Adventurer is the first part of her series, which I'm separating out according to main expansion and patch content. It's mostly journal entries, letters, and the occasional scene that's been more written out, but I like what I'm doing with it so far!

well originally i was going to say she used to just blow them out like normal but after the whole Dragonborn Reveal, she'll just put them out with her hand. BUT frankly, she'd use her hand regardless. anyways i think dragonborn's should be immune to fire.

oh man. hmm. Jeven kind of just throws herself into everything (hence why she now has 8 adopted kids....) maybe too serious but being alone? when her brother joined the Imperial Army, she followed because she didn't know how to be without him, he basically raised her for the first 11 years of her life (until she accidentally ended up in the Shivering Isles and Hero of Kvatch!Sheogorath was like "oh you have main character energy. well. how about I give you a headstart >:)")

oh, maybe horseriding? (gives me a reason to never use horses in game lol)

when she was a kid, she went to her brother, Koz 100% of the time. then after she deserted the Army, it was Sheogorath and Martin (have I actually played oblivion? no. is that gonna stop me from having headcanons about it? NO) and then eventually Lydia :) my wife :)

fun fact. first time I played Skyrim, I was playing my sister's copy and her disc had that glitch that made it so you couldn't marry Lydia. I was devastated and when I got my own copy, I think I almost immediately checked to see if I could marry Lydia and then I just picked a shitton of wildflowers on the way to Riften for her :)

heyyyy so I'm back. been meaning to write here again for a while, but I've had this weird sense of avoidance around it. recently, I've had several kin-related dreams, although none of them have felt like proper memories so far. last night it was about if Feral had lived and gotten sith training. I remember he held a simple red lightsaber in his left hand, and he stood in something between a back stance and a middle stance in taekwondo terms (I don't remember the terminology of lightsaber combat or teras kasi or anything, but I do remember some stuff from tkd classes I took as a kid) - that is, a side-facing stance that made him as narrow a target as possible. he was funny in a nervous kind of way, like he was acutely aware of the physical disadvantage he was at and protected himself with jokes. he had a sort of prey animal fear about him, but he was a bit more confident than he was in tcw, at least. in another life, maybe he'd be the class clown. he was bad at blocking blaster shots with a lightsaber, and I think he knew it, but he tried anyway. this is where the dream gets weird, and I should probably mention that I was an outside/third-person observer up until this point. crosshair from the bad batch (which I haven't watched since around when he got all crispy fried and the fall of tipoca city) showed up and shot him in the neck with a sniper rifle with a scope, and I think it was a slugthrower (aka regular gun with bullets) to boot? this upset me so greatly that I rewound the dream a few seconds and personally tackled him before he could take the shot. (I didn't really get to see what/who I looked like, just a shadowy figure in the first person.)

I don't know if this was an accurate glimpse into his personality, or if I even got the chance to know him before sidious took me for training like some kind of wrinkly sci-fi rumplestiltskin, but I hope I did. the star wars canon can't seem to make its mind up on that, but I suspect I'm already a little canon-divergent - I recall having even, peg-like, sharp teeth, but I recently noticed that screenshots don't seem to reflect that. idk, I don't really like looking at pictures of myself. ok I just double-checked and seeing myself with human teeth truly is cursed. I have lost my train of thought goodbye

I actually did not know about that! Though, inspired by your comment, I decided to do some digging. The trailer I found (posted by Arcade Belgium) even teases at the BlazBlue cameos, giving us a brief glance at Carl and Nirvana while previewing the game's Character Select menu, and showing silhouettes of Ragna and Noel toward the end of the video!

Magical Beat was released for the Playstation Vita in 2014, published by Arc System Works, just like BlazBlue. I did notice it as an option on the ArcSys games poll that ended just recently!

Magical Beat was (or is, I guess, one could still play it, though it's certainly faded from the public eye) a combination drop-down puzzle game and rhythm game. A fun thing I noticed was that levels in Magical Beat are comprised of ten stages, just like the Arcade modes in some of the BB games (though I think it was eight in Chronophantasma?)

The world of the game does seem to have some kind of story, taking place after the extinction of humanity. The three human-looking characters that seem to be the face of the game are actually "humanoid cyborgs" from some great war in the past... a character archetype that ArcSys seems to really enjoy using.

In addition to the game's original soundtrack, courtesy of Kikuo-san, the game featured 20 songs from the BlazBlue series, and 15 from XBlaze! The songs were released as DLC in sets of six (on average) that would also unlock an associated cameo character to play as!

The game also featured a small selection of music from the Guilty Gear series, but no Guilty Gear characters were featured.

Another interesting note; while I was working on this post, I noticed the Makoto sprite from Magical Beat looks a lot different than the sprite I used for my edits. Here's a comparison;

Note how much more red the Makoto sprite here is! The difference in eye color! The Magical Beat Makoto also features slightly more detail, with a hair shine at the back of her head that our Makoto lacks. What's up with that??? I'm aware that the CF sprites have multiple alternative color palettes people can use, but it seems strange that out of all the sprites uploaded to the wiki, only Makoto's page lacks her original palette.

I decided to boot up my copy of Central Fiction to see figure out whether or not this was her default palette, but I had trouble getting online- I have CF on the Switch, so I have to deal with Nintendo's finickiness.

I reached out to Carl @goofballproximitysurveyor for some help, and it provided the following screenshot of Makoto's CF sprite --

Which is the same as her Magical Beat sprite! Aside from the fact that she's still missing her hair highlight thing. I wonder why that was changed. I haven't noticed it with any of the other CF sprites.

I never did play Magical Beat myself. This was supposed to be a Magical Beat post, though, before I got sidetracked. If any of you did play the game and have memories of it, please share them!

really excited to watch your ffxiv journey! i have picked it up semi-recently myself, late last year. also started as DRG (on Bryn, we're practically neighbors!). i definitely feel like it's one of the best classes for the protagonist story. the class story just really adds to the main questline IMO. kinda unsurprised to see that Raubahn is part of your backstory already. :3 when i was going through the story, i had an errant thought like 'hmm i bet if AK Fedeau played FF she'd like him' XD

he's tall and he has a gladiator aesthetic, it's not a difficult sell lmao. i mean, i did write dangerous crowns. i'm sure they've had some argument going for over a decade about whether strength or agility is more important for beast-slaying. [can you imagine the back slaps that guy gives? RIP your shoulder blades.]

Don't be shy about your character's appearance, there's no such thing as a mistake in character gen. I'm sure she's super amazing regardless of the aspects you're not so keen on.

i agree! she just looks shorter and younger than i intended her to. it's nothing a few tweaks won't sort out. i've heard you can replay story cutscenes at inns and they'll match to your current appearance, so i can always grab screenshots later.

i will say this, though: i have performed some hilarious outfit crimes in service of keeping my armor up-to-date. i got a little off-sync level-wise because i did the lancer hunting log quests, so my gear is all over the place. last night i went crystal scrounging in a pink-and-rust-red shirt, ivory sarouel pants, and blue-and-white ren faire boots. before that, i'd been running around in the same caramel-brown toadskin jacket for like twenty levels. i look a fright. it's amazing. there's a really nice set of armor that i've got my eye on, but it's a level... 80 gearset, i think? so it'll have to wait!

March 4th, 2025 - Arcaea, DJMAX RESPECT V, Just Dance, Fortnite Festival

anyways... yeah, today was the last day to get my DJMAX plays in before the season ended . it was also the due date for some math homework! i prioritized the latter but realized i wouldn't have enough time, so once i reached a comfortable spot... i hopped onto DJMAX and jumped into ladder match to continue my season grind and finish it off once and for all

first match was... already a bad sign . it was a 5B-only match, my worst out of the 3 modes i had selected, going up against someone that seemed to be highly proficient in it . played the first song (My Last Stand [5BSC 8*] and got destroyed INSTANTLY, at which point i feared i'd be knocked out like last time... until i was saved by a really good score on Can We Talk (Broken Dog Leg Mix) [5BSC 8*] and an accuracy clutch-up on My Wonderland [5BMX 13*] to take back the win and kick off the banger sets!!!

i was in Platinum I a few sets later, so it was time to really lock in to hopefully reached the sacred Diamond IV and secure whatever fancy art it may have next season . charts and modes were a lot more varied and tougher now, so i took every chance i could get to screenshot any good scores and results which is what you're seeing here!! that's not to say it was completely devoid of notable scores though, as i somehow fully locked in and started getting back-to-back PPs again on charts like on Mukiliteo Beach [4BSC 5*], Carrot Carrot [4BMX 13*], STALKER [4BSC 7*], The Obliterator [4BSC 7*], Nurture Fortress [4BSC 8*], and my favorite... Satisfiction [4BSC 8*]!!! and of all of this, the only one that wasn't a sightread (and admittedly the one i already had a PP on) was Carrot Carrot!!! can you believe that!!!

and it was in that last match with the Satisfiction PP that i finally clutched up and the end and got just enough Clear Pass XP to reach the beloved, beautiful, long-awaited reward... of the LICK EMOTICON!!! I'M FREEEEEEEE

and so, the ultimate rushed DJMAX grind came to a close. i got the emoticon, i learned my lesson on not finishing season passes so late (not really lol), and i had just enough time to finish my homework before the deadline... so with all that said and done (and my parents letting me know the TV would be free while they were out), i hopped onto my switch and booted up Just Dance to shake off my nerves and get some awesome new Megastars + level progression!!! Majesty was pretty good (one i only had 3 stars on before heading into this session, actually), but after trying Yameen Yasar (Extreme) for fun, i realized i could actually maybe get this for real... so after studying it for a bit and failing a few other runs, i GOT IT!!! with a solid 12,637 score at that!!! Yameen Yasar (Extreme) Megastar!!! not sure how many Extreme Megastars i have between every game, but this is most definitely the hardest one i've gotten!!! man, what a good day today was between every accomplishment and score i set...

UPDATE!!!: some scores i forgot about due to them being buried all the way in the Fortnite folder, it's a rush to get my plays in on the recently-released The Way I Are before it could rotate out of the spotlight!!! i knowwww it was late and i should've just gone to do it the next day, but i was free from both homework and djmax!!! i needed to celebrate one way or another!!! and so i did!!! played through every (non-pro) instrument on every difficulty to get the highest score i could on them, and i think i did decently! not the best on Some charts, but i took home #6 worldwide on Bass so i'm decently proud of myself :]

Villains In Fiction Act Like Villains? *Gasp!*

So, there was a post I saw on Twitter last night that was poking fun of some of the sillier complaints people have about Disney Star Wars and the post contained screenshots of posts from Ticktok complaining about how certain factions, the Empire in particular, had been depicted in Star Wars media recently and these shots contained a bunch of fickle arguments such as “where is the war in Star Wars” as if people don’t understand that war isn’t all just big explosions and screaming “FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY” at the top of your lungs. You know, it was the stereotypical “Disney Star Wars bad” kinda stuff you’d expect to see at this point. However, there were two particular screen shots in this post that bothered me the most. This shot from opening of The Force Awakens where the First Order assaults the village on Jakku which ends with them all being executed, and another shot from one of the recent episodes of The Bad Batch showing that the Empire has started experimenting on kids with that same episode also showing Cad Bane kidnapping a literal baby.

And these complaints, they got to me. Like they actually got to me and not in a good way. Because ignoring the fact that the sequel trilogy actively goes out of it’s way to show the audience that the First Order is A LOT more brutal than the Empire anyway and this opening assault is a great way of showing that and this wasn’t even the first time in cannon that Cad Bane had kidnaped children, they were acting like the Empire being as evil as it is is a new thing. No it is not! This is the same group of people who killed Luke’s aunt and uncle, blew up an entire planet, tortured Princess Leia for information and would of killed her two if Luke, Han and Chewbacca didn’t show up to save her, Darth Vader killed some of his own men just because they fucked up at their job, blackmailed Lando into luring our heroes into a trap and set up a shield generator on a planet they likely didn’t ask the consent of the local Ewoks beforehand. And let’s not forget the Galactic Empire is also being led by a man who manipulated his best solider from childhood, planned a mass genocide on a group of what’s basically Space Samurai wizards and any Jedi that DID survive often ended up working for this new regime to basically hunt down and kill any Jedi who survived Order 66 and let’s not forget Palpatine basically lied his way into power. The Empire experimenting on children in The Bad Batch is no different from how they acted in the past BEFORE Disney brought the rights to this franchise!

However, this post of the Star Wars fanbase just being the Star Wars fanbase also highlights a bigger issue that extends to all works of fiction. Apparently, we can’t have villains in fiction who are irredeemable assholes that do some really horrible shit anymore. And I really have to wonder, do you people NOT know some of the really horrible shit villains have done in fiction over the years. Do you also know that some of them also have no real motivation to do half the shit they do other than “just cause” or because of “insanity?” This really isn’t a new thing or anything!

Don’t believe me? How about we bring up Green Goblin from the first Sam Rami Spider-Man film? This is a villain who literally becomes a villain though a science experiment gone wrong leading to him going insane and he actively takes joy in the horrible stuff he does. Does he have a reason to continue doing evil shit after killing off the Oscorp executives who screw him over at one point? No. Is he still a joy to watch on screen? Yes!

Or how about Risky Boots from the Shantae series. Does she have any deep or personal or sympathetic reason as to why she does half the shit she does in this series, including kidnapping Shantae’s Uncle, stealing her genie magic out of her, inverting Shantae’s Genie Magic to turn her evil or helping the Empress Siren just for the sake of a ship? As far as we know, no! She just really likes being a pirate and stealing shit save for the one time in the series she had no choice but to work with Shantae to stop the Pirate Master. And that’s fine! Because she’s still an incredibly entertaining villain.

Or what about Bowser from the Super Mario franchise. Does he have any detailed reasons as to why he constantly goes after Princess Peach? No! And yes, there is the Super Mario Bros Movie where he wants to marry Peach but that’s a different cannon altogether anyway.

And what about Commander Tartar from Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion who wanted to commit mass genocide on the entire Inkling and Octoling race just because he wasn’t happy with how they had become the new dominant species on earth and wanted to replace them with a new race?

“But Bellmo, we need our villains to be sympathetic otherwise what’s the point of half the stuff they do.” No no no. You can NOT just sit here and tell me making a villain Sympathetic instantly makes that character likable or justifys half the shit they do. Because even the ones who are do some pretty horrible stuff.

Don’t believe me still? How about Magneto in the X-Men movies? Now one look at this guy and you might think that he has a noble goal. He wants mutants to be respected and the X-Men universe mutants are seen as freaks or monsters. Well guess what, Magneto does some pretty awful shit in these films just for that goal. In the original X-Men he was more than willing to sacrifice Rouge, who casual reminder is ALSO a mutant, just to turn a bunch of people into Mutants despite the fact that we see before this point that it does NOT end well if a normal person get’s forcibly turned into a Mutant. X-2 despite helping to stop a plot to wipe out all mutant on the earth he then ends up turning that plan on its head and try’s to have all non mutants wiped out instead. Last Stand he rally’s a bunch of mutants to his side because of a recent “cure” for mutations and his plan is to literally go to the source of the cure, who is a literal child, and probably kill him two. And that’s not even counting some of the stuff he does in the First-Class saga such as being more than willing to blow up American and Russian boats with mislles, thinking the best way to stop the apocalyptic future we see in Day’s of Future Past is to kill Mystic because her actions in the 70’s lead to what happened and willingly working for Apocalypse because he has nothing left anymore. Yeah, I don’t care how much of an activist for mutant rights Magneto is, if I was a mutant I’d be going straight to the school run by the telepath in a wheelchair. Which is ironic for me to say considering Magneto is arguably one of the best parts of these movies. He’s incredibly well acted and his dialogue with other characters is great to listen two.

“But Gannondorf is a sympathetic villain in Zelda Wind Waker. He had good reason for doing what he did.” Yeah, a sympathetic villain who lied his way into the Hylian Royal family and plunged Hyrule and the Sacred Realm into chaos. And that’s just in the Adult Timeline. Don’t even get me started on how he basically used Zant to try and take over Hyrule again in the Child Timeline or how he actually kills OOT Link in the Downfall timeline.

Look, the point I’m trying to get across with all this rambling is that I don’t get why villains acting like villains is such a shocking thing to people nowadays. What, are we going to complain about Heroes being Heroes next? Villains doing villainous shit isn’t a brand new thing nor do they all have to be sympathy to justify the shit they do either. But then again, we live in an age where media literacy is deader than my hopes for that Sands of Time remake to be finished. I know I said this already a while ago but I swear to God, I will NEVER forgive what a lot of overly critical Youtubers from the 2010’s into now have done to an entire generations ability to consume media.

I was in love and I needed these boots 🤩

I clicked on the Crocs website and saw the price tag…

They were at 25% off already, but I got cold feet and just couldn’t make the purchase.

What was Crocs doing while I left the website without purchasing?

They served me a retargeted Instagram ad with the exact boots I was looking at offering an additional 20% off the original deal. I saw this advertisement the next day on Instagram.

I clicked because I couldn't believe it! The price was down even more and I could not pass it up, I bought those boots.

They are arriving December 7th and don't worry I will let you know if these boots live up to the hype that I saw on Instagram.

The purpose behind why I am sharing my Crocs customer journey is to show that you have to cover all your bases when trying to acquire new customers and truly understand the customer journey. Where are your customers coming from? Do you have retargeting advertisements set up on social when they leave the website without purchasing? Do you have an abandoned cart email or sms sequence set up for when a customer gets to enter their credit card details and they just leave?

Crocs knows that people may be on the fence, so retargeting them with an ad or two can push them to make that final purchase. I’ve also included screenshots of the two ads I saw.

Jenelle Evans & Farrah Abraham Basically Accuse Each Other Of Being Bad Parents

It’s been a minute since we’ve had a Jenelle/Farrah battle on The Interwebs, but this week, the Backdoor Teen Mom and the Lady ‘o’ The Land took a few swipes at each other via Instagram!

The online tiff began when Farrah debuted her new romantic victim partner on Instagram. Her haters speculated in the post’s comment section that her new beau was likely a “John”. When one person suggested that Farrah left her teen daughter Sophia home alone for Thanksgiving to go frolic in the Caribbean with her new man/thing, another person suggested that Child Protective Services (CPS) be called on Farrah.

Farrah responded to the comment by screenshotting it and replying with her signature “Farrah Speak” word salad commentary— which also included an out-of-nowhere dig at Jenelle. 

“It’s possible to have it all haters,” Farrah wrote. “Fix your mindset. CPS is so JanelleEvans…haters are very confused.” 

As The Ashley previously told you, Janelle Jenelle and her husband David Eason are currently under CPS investigation for various things. Jenelle did not appreciate Farrah taking a swipe at her, causing her to pounce on Farrah later that day online.

“Someone do a wellfare check on Farrah Abraham’s daughter,” Jenelle wrote. “Her mom seems very unstable in her videos online.”

The next day, Jenelle jumped on social media to further defend her own parenting. 

“I’m not trying to prove myself to anyone…it’s really not that serious,” she said with a laugh. “I keep seeing comments like, ‘Take care of your kids, worry about your kids!’ Every single day, 24/7 that’s all I’m doing. Just because I don’t have a camera stuck in my face anymore and you guys don’t see every scope and aspect of my life, doesn’t mean that I don’t take care of my children.”

“Y’all are so worried about my life, yet you want me to stop posting,” she continued. “Yet you still want to know more. It’s very contradicting. The Internet is very contradicting.

“You post something online about your kids and they’re like, ‘Don’t do that, you’re exploiting them.’ And then if you don’t post them, you’re conceited. So which one is it? Do I take care of them? Or do I not take care of them? I guess we’ll never know.”

Farrah has yet to respond to Jenelle’s statement.

Mackenzie McKee Addresses Racist Comments She Gets For Dating a Black Man; Says She’s Tired of Her & Boyfriend Kheesy Hall Being Compared to Leah Messer & Jaylan Mobley

Former ‘Teen Mom OG’ star Mackenzie McKee took to TikTok recently to respond to social media comments she has received from people comparing her relationship with boyfriend Khesanio “Khessy” Hall to Leah Messer’s relationship with former fiancé Jaylan Mobley. 

As The Ashley previously told you, Mackenzie and Kheesy are slated to appear on the upcoming season of ‘Teen Mom Family Reunion,’ despite Mackenzie getting the boot from ‘Teen Mom OG’ years ago following a racism scandal that ultimately played out on the show.  

Like Leah and Jaylan–- who got engaged in August 2022 after a year of dating, but went on to split just two months later–- Mackenzie and Khessy are in an interracial relationship, but according to Mackenzie, that is the only similarity between the two couples. 

“Let’s talk about this comment because you are NOT the first person who has said that, we actually get this comment a lot,” Mackenzie said while referencing the comparison comment on her screen. “Now, [Khessy] does not know the ‘Teen Mom’ cast, so he doesn’t know anyone’s story, but there are so many ‘Teen Mom’ couples that have come and gone. [Leah and Jay] is the only one that people ‘compare’ us to. It has nothing to do with our story, it has nothing to do with anything.”

Mackenzie went on to note that she was married (to ex-husband Josh McKee) for a decade, so her relationship with Khessy is the first time fans have seen her in a serious relationship with someone else, seemingly hinting at her disappointment by some people’s reaction to it.  

“ … I find my literal soulmate, I find someone that you guys have seen–- we’ve been in a relationship for a year–- … and this is nothing against [Jaylan and Leah], I love Leah, but no one is saying why they are comparing us,” she said. “They don’t want to admit why that is the one couple that they are comparing us to.”

Mackenzie went on to claim that “so many of the comments” she’s received since she began dating Khessy have also criticized her dancing skills, the music she listens to and her decision to wear her hair in French braids. She stated that people now insinuate that she only does these things because she’s dating a Black man.

“Now all of a sudden I can’t dance? Or that I’m only dancing and listening to the music that I’ve liked this whole time and now I get to actually come out and be myself? All of sudden, I’m only dancing that way because my boyfriend is Black– that’s why you guys are saying that,” she said. 

Mackenzie then did a little comparing of her own, stressing how much happier she is with Khessy than she was with her ex-husband Josh. 

“I was stuck in a relationship where I had to listen to Merle Haggard and wasn’t allowed to dance,” she said. “I have danced since I was a little kid and if you know me, you know I love to dance. Did you think I just pulled these moves out of nowhere? I have always loved to dance.

“The difference is, I am actually now allowed to do what I love and be who I am,” she continued. “Nothing against no one in my past. I’m just saying.” 

Mackenzie wrapped up her TikTok by calling the comparison comments on social media “absolutely ridiculous.” 

“ … You guys would not be saying them if my boyfriend–- my soulmate and the person who literally swooped me off my feet and changed my life–- was white,” she concluded.  

Maci Bookout Reveals She Got Offered a Job at High School

Maci recently opened up about a job offer she recently got and, for once, it has nothing to do with her longtime gig on MTV!

During an interview with The Hopeaholics Podcast, Maci revealed that a local high school asked her to be the head coach of their girls’ wrestling team. However, Maci expressed her hesitation to take the job.

“I coach wrestling and I love coaching, it’s such a passion of mine. But I just got offered to be a high school head coach for a girls’ wrestling team,” Maci said, adding that the job was her “dream” after coaching her kids’ club wrestling teams.

“For me this is an amazing opportunity, and I don’t really have anything to lose,” Maci added. “But the girls who are wrestling do… I don’t ever do anything halfway but this is across town… I would have to be there every day and then leave there and go to the other club that I coach. So they’d be like, seven hours of driving and wrestling every day.”

Maci said she isn’t sure if she should take the job.

“I think it scares me,” she said.

I haven't joined the events since because I can't risk running into Raydawg. Quite frankly even though this guy said his name is Danny, it is possible it is actually Raydawg. This was last year, I never posted it I think, but he hasn't hit me up since I've been putting this whole operation on blast. In recent news I did find out there is a truck stop nearby and is a source for clients.

Welcome to Minecraft Alpha 1.0, in this challenge I attempt to get every iteam and block in Minecraft, in the update they were originally made obtainable in (I wish to clarify this because some things stay creative only for the entire Beta phase of developement, like sponges). I got lucky with the 20% chance of getting a snow world, which means I can get snow blocks and snow balls before weather is added in Beta 1.5, unfortunately, it will make all of my screenshots ugly until Alpha 1.2 when Winter Mode is removed.

What was your first impression of the game? Is this the first Cybird game you've ever played?

IkeVamp is the first Cybird game I've ever played (I played mostly VHs before this). I had seen so many screenshots for the game that curiosity finally got to me, and I dled the game. I remember reading the prologue and being so confused as to who was who. I kept confusing Napo and Leo, and Isaac and Theo.

2. Who was the character you liked most in the beginning, and is he still your fave?

I am embarrassed to admit I liked Shakespeare best first, but only because he had longer hair. I don't think he was ever my fave, and certainly isn't now 😂

3. How you picked your first route, and whose route was it? Was your favorite suitor available when you first started playing?

I picked Shakespeare (see above, his hair and also he had a very distinctive look so I didn't confuse him for anyone else). I discovered early on I made a poor choice of first suitor to read (not because of the whole Vlad and friends thing, but more because my college self remembered why I never took a Shakespeare course despite being an English major).

Arthur. I wasn't expecting him to be as sweet and insecure as he was.

Faust. I never cared much for his aesthetic or what little I saw of him in events, but after reading his route, he's grown so much I might consider writing him one day (which is a pretty big statement from me).

7. Do you remember your first story event?

No idea the title, but I picked Mozart because I was reading his route at the time, and I remember vividly him saying something about "sucking your fingers" and I was still so early in his route so I went 😮

8. Have you ever spent money on the game? Have you tried the free diamonds offers?

I have spent money on IkeVamp, tho not nearly as much as I've spent on Pri or Sen. I have tried the free offers and just cannot for the life of me remember to tap each day for those free diamonds.

Jean with his long ponytail. I was reading his route at the time and bought diamonds so I could finish in the top 100 for that. What a nailbiter of an event.

Pfft. I am not lucky at all with the Vamp gacha. I guess ages ago when they had an avatar gacha where you could get plushies or boots or this furry ligerie robe in suitor theme. And I got the boots and robe for Leonardo. Most unlucky is just about every time I pull for a suitor's birthday gacha and I get some random 3* card.

The slowest - Sebastian. The quickest - Vlad maybe?
