Introducing Adelaide v1, my first cosplay project in a little over 3 years.

I consider this the most minimal stage of this project, and plan to expand upon it at a later date, but first I'd like to review a bit about this version of things.

This project started as a broken crt I found on the side of the road. I'd been wanting to make a cosplay for my oc Adelaide, and figured that this would be as good a base as I was going to get. Note that as a crt the screen is somewhat convex.

I expected the most difficult part of this project to be creating the "illusion" of a screen, but in truth it was figuring out a way to wear a tv as a helmet. The final rig is a combination of floral foam, a roller skating helmet, and at least three kinds of glue. Its a bit heavier than I wanted, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice for the assurance that its going to last.

The screen is a pre-cut piece of acrylic with one-way privacy tint applied to it, and was ultimately the most painless part of this whole project.

On to the Issues

Like all projects Adelaide v1 is less than perfect. Some of these imperfections (such as the rattle can paint job) I have learned to live with. Others have easy fixes i need to get around to.

As a consequence of the acrylic screen being flat and the original crt being curved, there are noticable gaps around each edge. I think these could be easily masked with some well placed slivers of craft foam. You can also see that I had to peel off the original vinyl sticker that covered the button mechanisms, and will need to find something to replace it with. Ultimately these are minor.

Less minor is the present state of the neck hole, which is uncomfortable to say the least. Note the hoodie in the first pic. My initial plan was to simply sand this smooth but ive since acquired something to keep the rough edges away from my neck, I need only install it.

Darren Criss Announces Five-Stop Australian Tour

Darren Criss is set to bring a series of concerts to Australia in September. The performer will bring his own four-piece band to Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra and Sydney to perform the hits he’s become known for throughout his career, spanning everything from “Glee” to Broadway. “Glee” is where Criss first came to prominence, playing Blaine Anderson. From there, he’s been in hits ranging from “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” to the Broadway production “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, where he replaced Daniel Radcliffe. His expansive career has seen him win awards including at the Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He’s also released music, with his debut EP “Human” debuting at the top of the Billboard Heatseeker chart. His follow-up EP, “Homework” reached No. 7 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. Of his return to Australia, Criss said: “My first show in Australia in 2018 was so much fun and I am looking forward to coming back with my friends and seeing more of the country. We are taking things up a notch for this tour and I can’t wait to see everyone.” Michael Cassel, who brought Criss to Australia in 2018 and is producing his national tour, said: “Darren is a consummate showman and his last concert here sold out in eight minutes resulting in many angry phone calls from his fans to the office.
