Story Time!
this is a story about why the freak Creationality has a dark side to it yet it's not really being used half the time.
Unless you're a scratch fan or you know my scratch profile from 2015 this story is pretty new to you so let me break it down.
So I used to have a scratch account back in 2015 but that's not where we're supposed to be starting Creationality animations was made somewhere in 2017 so this story starts in between that.
So, I logged on the scratch I saw a weird Flipnote animation which not a lot of people see Flipnote animations these days unless you look back to 2000 or 2010. Now as soon as I saw that flip note something weird or dark and mysterious had filled up my brain like "is this what the other side of the world is like". I kept on wanting to watch all the dark stuff & let me tell you I discovered a lot of dark stuff on YouTube. I saw Dark animations turning your favorite animation characters into dark characters and then for some reason I had that dark idea that was that close to turning me Evil. though as soon as I thought about drawing something dark, people were doing half dark half regular kind of artwork that's when i Drew evil Maizey, now known as Evil Amaizing. To tell you I kept on making art about him even going to head in and squeezing him in my character line of characters that I have in scratch, but then once I started my first YouTube channel I started looking back and was like scratch was not the place for me.
If I keep on going ahead and having to see cringe over and over again. The last scratch project I ever made was my best friend turning into a werewolf, I cannot tell you how many times I cringe looking at that. So that I looked at everything else and I was like "no". I'm deleting my scratch profile but thanks to scratch deleting it from the whole entire database I can't look back at it and probably take ideas from the scratch profile but thanks to every memory in my mind, that idea still stays within my mind and I could still control Creationality animations to have a dark side. I did make some pixel art of Evil Maizey, but I actually regretted it since it looked even worse., but you should have saw my scratch project.
Now the ending of the story will be coming to an end, but I got to tell you a little bit more about Evil Amaizing he is the evil side of Creationality animations. He will go ahead and do anything to make my life worse and he is technically the evil side of me in the real life now & just like how I have my own characters he has his own characters too. It's like he's a dark evil doppelganger. I really plan to do stuff with Evil Amaizing too, but I don't want to seem like it's going to weird because dark eyes with Darkness leaking out of the eyes is pretty weird these days, but it doesn't seem like a bad thing. Just make sure to keep it on a good social media (or social media that your parents won't question your life about). So, you now know about Evil Amaizing, Evil Maizey his past, and the Darkness on the side of me that will be coming to Creationality Animations soon which is probably going to start with that Halloween animation I promised to make that promise is probably going to be broken but again I'll try my best to make it.
So, bye you've amazed you will be going ahead and making a big role in Creationality animations soon and I'll see you guys' next time don't forget to like reply reblog share and follow me for more art on Tumblr. See ya next story time!

hello it's drawing anon!! thank you for your long and detailed response, it was very helpful. if you don't mind i would love if you shared your technical tips as well!
also kudos to you for studying engineering (i could never), and i hope you continue to draw and share lots of lovely brainwormy art :D
in the meantime i'll try to work on my art swag ( ≧ᗜ≦)
hi drawing anon! sorry for the late response, midterms are upon me and they are here for revenge. D:
here are some things that help me with drawing faces + and for general composition! i also learnt a lot from watching people work, so i'll put some at the end.
this thing is beefy so here's a general overview:
breaking stuff into shapes, how to control eye movement, general -> specific, speed-run color tips, then some techniques i consider for nailing faces.
my favorite thing is to break down faces into geometric bits. for laying down the initial sketch or framework for whatever you are working on, it's helpful to work generally and then to get specific. this way when you start working on details there is harmony! i have had a lot of moments when i focus on something specifically for too long and then everything else comes out of proportion. it also is helpful for general sanity too because it can be very frustrating to have to adjust something after working on it for so long.
if working generally is good for harmony within how things fit into your piece, it also can be good for how your eye moves around the piece. there are so many ways to emphasize areas of your art, and sometimes peoples eyes can get stuck on things so to say. for pieces that you want to have deep meaning, this is a powerful tool for narrative. here's some things that can deal with eye movement!
directional lines, like contour shading or hatching
repetition of elements around the piece, like stickers or colors
avoiding lines going into the corners of your piece (think of it like leading off a cliff. i think of arrows going into the corner as like a "flip me here!" thing)
areas with more details or areas with less texture, etc., have different visual weight and the imbalance can create interest
there is a lot of theory within this, but i think these points are a good takeaway.
color theory is a whole beast, and most of my context with color is from working traditionally. when mixing colors to make a new one, i generally try to keep a limited amount of paints to avoid having muddy colors. outside of the digital landscape, my understanding is that your eye still registers each individual pigment mixed in even though you can't separate them out visibly. this can make a color look muddy and hard to register. some pigments also lean one way or the other (warm vs cold) and can create muddy colors. i think the most common example of this i have is mixing pthalo blue (yellow leaning) and a red and getting a gross purple.
two ways to introduce shadows: mixing the area of interest with a complimentary color (opposite side of color wheel!), and using complimentary colors to create contrast between areas in light and areas in shadow. this creates a bit of a dynamic
facesfacesfacesfacesfaces
pleasepleaseplease click for higher resolution but this was a good way for me to kind of describe how i do it. i consider these methods jointly when drawing a face from scratch, and i see people with more cartoony styles or OC sketches that consider the shape face thing.
i generally draw the main profile/size of the head and then start from the eyes since i find it easier to build everything else off of it. the nose is between the eye sockets so it comes next naturally, etc.
i also think a tips video is not complete without the classic step by step
these aren't super refined, but they give a general idea on how i break it down.
referencing photos is great, but building a framework that you can use as reference within your own drawing to understand ratios and proportions is critical! i find it easier to draw people with glasses sometimes because the glasses themselves are good reference for eye size, nose placement, etc.
some art youtubers/creators i watched alot when learning drawing outside of school (please keep in mind most of this stuff is old):
draw with jazza, how to draw the marvel way, peter draws (pen reviews & doodle seshes), camileon, and more. if you have any artists in mind they may have drawing sessions/speedpaints up which also can help (especially if they are a comic artist or youtuber or some sorts). artists that do interviews also often talk about other people they take inspiration from, and this can build a nice net of things to check out!
i think out of these i used the marvel one the most while learning on my own, before finding a system that was more intuitive for me.
i also grew into who i am as an artist within a community that inspired me (school and also online). having stuff that inspires you or some kind of inspiration board (i be sortin on pinterest) is good too. i will say that those portfolio videos on what got people into art school are scary to watch & aren't necessarily a blueprint for what they are looking for exactly (with animation schools that feed specific companies being an exception, i guess).
this is freakn long and probably overwhelming but i hope it's some kind of help!

Dreamwidth! I've been singing its praises to anyone who even show a hint of interest.
Here's my journal. There's a sticky about everything you can find on my journal. Feel free to say hi and subscribe! (I did recently changed up my theme to make it more mobile friendly, so please excuse the layout mess. It's under construction.)
Here's a look at my profile, if you want to know how to set one up. I'm in a bunch of communities - Harry Potter related, prompt communities, seasonal bingos, writing focused, anime, etc. Season of Kinks is doing their last ever round! Check them out if you are interested. If you like drinking and writing/drawing at the same time, Firewhiskey Fic is a great follow! There's also a new Dub-con/Non-con bingo. And the site hosts a lot of multi-fandom exchanges as well.
Potterfests is THE place to go to to keep up with what's happening around the HP Fandom. Lee_Bella is a beast!
Fandom on DW and Fandom Calender is a great way to advertise your events and keep up with what's happening around the Internet.
Find a few communities, read their profiles and rules, and join! <3
There are some amazing folks over there, too. (I'm a bit biased, since I'm mostly on the HP side of Dreamwdith. One person I follow is Eldricther. They pop up from time to time, sharing recs and great insights on fandom. Give them a follow!)
Once you subscribed to a few journals and joined a few communities, your reading page will be hopping. Here's how mine looks like.
One great thing I like about Dreamwidth is that I can set privacy levels to each individual posts. I do not need to set my whole journal to private if I want to post something about my RL or something deeply personal. I can make the post so only my friends can see them, and even then I can set it so only certain friends can see them. The only way I can control Tumblr posts here is set it so others can't reblog. However, the posts are still public for anyone to see.
However, because you can post private entries, sometimes a journal or a community may look empty. But once you join/subscribe, you have access to all the locked entries. I'm participating in Fandom Empire right now, and the default privacy level is locked entries, so from the public view there are only a few posts, but trust me. The community is hopping behind closed doors.
I also love the tags. Here's how I organize mine. They are there and easy for me to browse and click through. Tumblr is also about tags, where you can ramble on if you like. But on Dreamwidth it's all about organization and that scratches the part of my brain that loves order.
You might have to learn a few HTML tricks for posting. Their Rich Text is not the greatest. Here's a beginner guide. Dreamwidth's FAQ is a helpful resource as well! From finding entries by just one user in a community , how to make a cut , and how to link to another Dreamwidth account and/or service.
And, if anyone wants to do a friending meme, I'm down! Here's one that @consistentsquash did.
It is a bit slower than Tumblr. A lot slower than Twitter. But the people! The people on Dreamwidth are some of the nicest friends I ever met. It's a bit of work to get your journal up and running. You have to put yourself out there. There are occasional friending events like the Snowflake Challenge. (There is one coming up for July, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the community right now.) But I think it's worth it. I occasionally escape the madness of Twitter & Tumblr and just park myself on Dreamwidth. lol
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help! <3
dreamwidth!!!
re. this
if anyone's interested in moving over to dreamwidth, feel free to add me (leftsidedown)! no real idea what's going to go on there yet, kinda just exploring and lurking for now, but I've already found a bunch of interesting folks & communities I'm looking forward to getting to know better. reviving LJ-era MWPP fandom would be AMAZING too -- dog days of summer? rs small gifts? 😍❤️
@mblematic @billsfangearring @tahtahfornow @toujours-prete @impishtubist + anyone else, reblog/reply with your username!!
#dreamwidth#not me talking about my love of dreamwidth YET AGAIN#my friends are tired of me talking about the site#lol

My Yearend Techs & Misc. Items Summary - 2022
Hello! So, 2022 is about to end in a few hours. A few positive moments 🙂⬆️, but some are negative moments in the past 😞⬇️, with my most heart breaking moment was my old hard drive will soon vanish because I can't work it right, and I'm unable to save my precious files. 😭 But, don't worry, I'll be strong when it hits 2023. 💪 As some would say, "Where there's a will, there's a way". 🥲 And, since I can't retrieve my old template, I decided to create my own template from scratch instead of fetching a traceable template from the internet image search. Which is good for me.
Anyway, enough for that, let’s talk about my ‘My Yearend Techs and Misc. Items Summary 2022’! And here are my choices per month so far, both ongoing & done topics:
• JAN - Redragon Rudra (K565R) Full Size Mechanical Keyboard (done): So far, I'm having fun typing & playing with my 1st ever owned mechanical keyboard from the 2021 Christmas gift. However, one con that I've found from experiencing mech keyboard was wearing off the tactical keystrokes after longevity used. I'm still curious to see if this mech keyboard from Redragon is swappable/removable key switches; though it didn't advertise or include this feature. Regardless, it is still worth it to use my daily computer activities.
• FEB - 8bitdo Pro 2 Controller (ongoing): Arguably the most worthy controller in my review, the 8Bitdo's Pro 2 controller is my current go-to 3rd-party controller on multiple gaming devices (Android, iOS, Steam, Switch, and PC/Laptop). Though to be fair, the SN30 Pro+ had a special place in my heart, so much so that I want to buy another one. But, I digress. The Pro 2 controller improves the predecessor by adding back paddle buttons, a profile switch, toggling four platform devices, and connecting the 8bitdo ultimate software app on Android/ Apple iOS on the go without bringing a bulky laptop.
• MAR - Oria 120 in 1 Screwdriver Set (done): As a tech-savvy enthusiast, I decided to buy my own Screwdriver Set, in case that I want something to fix on my daily used devices, namely "Smartphones". Because it's very common now, to this day.
• APR - Fixing my PC - Volume II Story: A sequel to my last year's story, I made another huge mistake after I disassembled & cleaning the entire parts of the PC desktop harmlessly until it went down south. So, my mom provided me to buy a new motherboard & CPU to keep my computer alive. I'm still concerned about my 160 GB HD (that contains my important & precious files), therefore, my puzzle is incomplete, to this day.
• MAY - Adata HD330 External Hard Drive - 2 TB (done): On the bright side, I bought my own brand new 2 TB external hard drive from the folks of Adata. And while I'm filling out some files by drawing digital artwork or recording videos, I always stored my NEW precious files onto my portable memory drive.
• JUN - N-Power LED RGBW Bulb w/ Remote (done): A single-color light bulb is boring to some. But, a light bulb that contains different colors using a remote on our fingertips is far better & entertaining. And I can't do without N-Power. Plus, it's way cheaper than other brands.
• JUL - Unbranded USB AA Rechargeable Batteries (done): This unique cell battery doesn't require a battery cell charger, instead, it uses a USB type A to charge using either from the computer, a power bank or a USB wall charger (or any similar devices that involves USB type A). A fully charged AA battery estimates up to 6 to 7 hours, not 2.5 to 3 hours. Yeah, that's a downside, but you won't regret owning it.
• AUG - Phone Tripod Mouth Adapter (done): I want something that rotates my mouthed smartphone without adjusting from my tripod, and thankfully my wish was granted. To this day, I'm still using it for my recording & snapshot purposes using my current smartphone (Honor 8C).
• SEPT - Keweisi (or KOWSI) USB Multifunctional Tester (done): Honesty, I'm tired of manual time using my phone & opening a stopwatch as my timer. I just can't tell what's the real estimated time during my charging test. Well, not to worry! Because the USB Multifunctional Tester from Keweisi (or KOWSI?) should do the job. The only thing I need to do is to keep an eye on a specific time when charging any device is full.
• OCT - QKZ AK6 Pro IEM Earphones (done): My ZNT R620 earphone [CLICK ME!] might be an ‘A-Okay’ status & using it as my primary earphone. But, all that changed when I switched to QKZ's AK6 Pro as my first ever owned IEM earphone! It's the cheapest IEM earphone (on the market) with the ability to remove IEM cables, and I'm still embracing it. I just love these IEM earphones so much, that I need someone to compete against other brands.
• NOV - Rechargeable Light Tube (done): By far, the most likable & unique item I ever owned, this fluorescent light look-a-like has three available sizes; depending on their amount of watts. And right here is the 40 Watts. Perfect for outside activities, travel, and even camping.
Here is my honorable mention:
• FEB - ZNT R620 Earphones (done): As I said, it's A-Okay. However, their loudness sound didn't match, particularly the right channel. It's a good thing I'm done using it because I've already got the aforementioned QKZ AK6 Pro IEM Earphones.
Alright, back to my topic pick & this is my last!↓
• DEC - Sonicgear Quatro 2 USB Speakers (done): And finally, my last item review is the Sonicgear Quatro 2 USB Speakers. Their design & sound quality are decently average, in my opinion, but their four bass drives could use a little tweak to make it better, or maybe swap it out from other brands & make a custom for your music taste.
Well, that’s the end of my “My Yearend Techs and Misc. Items 2022”. We’ll see you in 2023.
🥳 Happy new years eve to all, and as always, stay safe!😷
If you want to see my 2020 & 2021 version of that, then I'll provide some links down below.↓

“To find a way to cope”
Summary: Morgan finds Spencer's notebooks filled with partly disturbing drawings and poems and learns once again how much of what Spencer feels he doesn't know how to express and how much happened in his childhood he never talks about.
AU: [This is an AU in which Morgan and Reid share a house (as friends). The parts can be read independently.]
Warnings: Past Sexual Abuse
Relevant Tags: Autistic Spencer Reid, Suicidal Thoughts
Word Count: 4626
First Chapter:
Notes: Since this series is the follow up serious to another one of mine "Green" (I will link it in the endnote) there can be some confusion if you haven't read it. But here is a short summary of it so you don't have to read it all and can still 'enjoy' this:
In the story "Green" Spencer gets together with Lola who abuses him following up this abuse he stays with Morgan who helps him recover as much as that is possible. Spencer doesn't want to go back to his apartment so Morgan decides that it is time for a change, they move in together in one of the houses Morgan renovated ones.
They each have their own privacy, their own floors including bathrooms and bedrooms and each of them has their own office but its not a secret to anyone that they also don't have much privacy because at some part after living together for so many years the embarrassment or shame for many things just faded.
However when Morgan picks up a box of books in the basement while looking for his old baseball equipment he feels bad when he looks inside of them.
They are notebooks, written in with black ink and he can tell that it's Spencer handwriting. There is a date on the corner, the note book is hardly a month old. He puts it away and grabs one from further down, revealing another date from eight years ago and he opens up a random page and starts reading.
"And if you look at me
Look at me for another moment
See me
If you really see me
Can you look at me the same again."
It's seems to be an attempt of poetry and Morgan opens another page finding a scetch of a person. Also in blank ink. Their hands scratching at their eyes, looking like they are screaming.
He reads another poem.
"Can you hear me screaming?
Did you hear me screaming for you? You hands burning my skin,you hands burning my innocence.
Can you hear me screaming?
In the latest night, can you hear me screaming?
Did you hear him burning my skin, his hands burning my innocence."
Morgan can feel an unsettling feeling spread through his body, these are too old to be from the time with Lola, judging by the date he must have been in his early twenties.
He looks into another notebook finding a lot of sketches and a few of them look similar to people Morgan had seen before, he figures they are unsubs and then he opens another scatch and it looks like a women, warning a gun holster and having a glass in her hand, her hair shoulder long and judging by the date this is Elle.
Morgan picks up another one, it is dated for approximately a year ago. The drawing shows their house but the windows are barricaded with wood and nails, only a light shining out of Morgan's room and a kitten is sitting in front of their doorstep, skinny and looking up to the doorbell handing in front of the door that is also barricaded.
The next one is a drawing from their kitchen and it shows Morgan, at least he thinks so, sitting at the table with his hand on his head the other around a coffee cup and on the kitchen counter are files stacked and the kitchen table is filled with overflowing cups.
There is a third, showing their bathroom and there is a liquid on the floor,again every drawing is held black ink but he guesses its blood and a handprint on the mirror and in front of the puddle and then there is a hand sticking out from behind the curtain from which the liquid drops down.
The fourth is what makes Morgan want take the notebook with him, it's a man standing in the door and by the tattoos he can make out that it is supposed to be him but he is wearing a mask and he is holding Spencer's stuff animal in his hand while wearing only Jean's and boots no shirt. Morgan can make out that this is supposed to be Spencer's room.
The worst he finds in that notebook is one of a women, sitting on a chair, her head leaned back and her arms sliced open, blood dripping down on the floor and by the necklace, the gun at her hip and the long slightly curly hair Morgan dares to assume that this is supposed to be JJ.
He puts the notebook aside and pulls out one from the time when he started at the BAU and the first drawing is of a little boy with glasses standing in the bullpen that is crowded with files. The second is a room filled with bees at the wall and an empty chair in the middle.
Morgan knew Spencer can draw he didn't know how well he does.
There are a few sketches of Morgan and Gideon and a lot of JJ. And many butterflies and with the ripped out pages in between he guessed that he draw them for her.
He quickly puts everything away when he hears Spencer walking down the stairs but goes back down to grab the one with the poem about the 'burning hands' the one with the sketch from Elle and the one with the drawings from the house and the women on the chair and for weeks he hides them in his office and eventually started profiling a few of them but quickly stopped that, feeling uncomfortable.
"What are you drawing?" He asks stepping into Spencer's office and the man shuts the notebook again.
"I don't draw."
"You don't?"
"No, I haven't in years."
"You haven't?"
"No, I am horrible at that." Morgan steps closer and it fits what he had found downstairs. The little pencil case open, only black pens inside and a pencil with a rubber. "What did you want?"
"Nothing just wanted to check in on you." Looking over he sees another stack of papers, and in a box next to his desk watercolours. "Its getting pretty stuffed in here."
"I like it. And I would like for you to leave now."
"I will." Apologetic Morgan takes his hands up and leaves the room.
There is a high chance that Spencer knows himself that his drawings are concerning and that that is the reason he is so defensive over people knowing he draws.
He keeps his findings a secret for a few more days until he gets to concerned and tries again talking to him about it but the moment he takes the word drawings in his mouth Spencer denies having drawn in the last years and accuses him of having sniffed around his office for things he draw as a teenager.
So he takes the notebooks and in a quiet moment walks up to Hotch's office who is similar concerned by them. For him the worst is one of Spencer himself, someone pressing a hand over his mouth and him into a pillow next to a poem about the lyrical I suffocating.
"There are more that hint at sexual abuse."
"He has a history we know that."
"Some are older than what happened with Lola."
"Did you try talking to him about these?"
"He claims he hasn't drawn in years." Hotch looks further through it finding more and more thinks he finds concerning.
"There are quite a lot of you."
"That's why I am here. I was hoping he maybe would rather talk to you about it. I can't explain why the drawings are portraying me like that." Hotch looks down on the page of a drawing of Morgan laying on the couch, the TV running but he is sleeping. On the table a ashtray with smoke coming from it on the floor next to the couch, multiple books that block his way and lianas hanging from the ceiling one close to curling itself completely around his neck.
"You have a theory?"
"My first guess was that something in the house made him feel captured, or even me but I am not sure."
"I would actually say that it's the opposite. That he feels like he captures you."
"Me?"
"This doesn't look like he is the one captured." He points at another painting showing Morgan standing in the kitchen, one half of his body having spiders all over it his other side being completely normal beside the fingers that in the end turn into bees and more bees flying away from it. "Are you okay?"
"You see this drawings and you ask if I am okay?"
"Besides that these drawing are definitely not something that leave you unaffected there are a few that a showing you in a vulnerable state he probably saw this before drawing it in his own interpretation."
"I am fine, I don't know why he draws me like that."
"Alright I will talk to him about it." Morgan initially wanted to go to JJ with this but she really doesn't need to see the drawings of herself being death by suicide. There is the one on the chair but also one hanging out of a tree with wings on her back.
For Hotch the most disturbing once are the two from a child, being beaten and in the other drawing having wings sitting on top of a clip, stars around them.
Morgan brings him the other notebooks too and in the earlier once its clear that he draws what he sees on cases and around himself. The poems not so much.
But the younger the note books the more it concerns his friends and random children.
Hotch doesn't find many of himself, but there is a notebook around the time Emily died that breaks his heart and when she came back the drawings change to something with more anger and eventually one that shows Spencer and him sitting in his office, Spencer looking at Hotch, Hotch doing the same but behind Hotch stands Emily or JJ he can't tell having a hand on his shoulder and covering his mouth while Spencer has a ghost behind him, covering his eyes.
He thinks long about if he wants to talk to him about the notebooks because Spencer seems to use this to cope and that is a good thing no matter how violent they look but on the other hand it seems like something is really bothering him so after weeks of debating he hands Morgan the box back saying that it feels wrong for him to interfere and Morgan first gets angry but then agrees that it is better if he first talks to him and then can offers Spencer to talk to Hotch if he rather wants that.
So eventually Morgan breaks the ice at a dinner picking up the box and placing it on the table. "You know what this is?"
"A box"
"You know what's in it?" He asks and Spencer nods with worry in his eyes. "I found it in the basement while cleaning it out."
"Did you-" Nervous he bites on the inside of his lip.
"I did"
"They are mine" He tells him, the fear clearly audible in his voice.
"I know, I am just a little bit worried about you, there is some pretty dark stuff in there."
"You weren't supposed to see."
"But I did and I just want to make sure that everything is alright."
"Yes they are just drawings."
"They are not just drawings."
"And poems."
"Not what I mean kid" Morgan grabs the notebook on top and sits down in front of him opening the page with the drawing of their house. "Is this our house?"
"Yes"
"Can you tell me why you draw this?" Spencer shrugs ones, tears in his eyes. "These are yours and I am not judging you or am mad I just think that some of these, because this notebook was finished a few weeks ago, need talking about. And I am just trying to help you."
"I don't know why I draw this."
"What about the cat? Is that Garfield?" Garfield is an old cat they adapted years ago and died.
"Yes"
"You still miss him?"
"Sometimes I wish he comes home again but then nothing is open here anymore."
"Garfield is dead and even if he wasn't dead when we got the call he would be by now." Morgan tells him in a gentle voice. "So this is about Garfield not coming back in,not you feeling captured in here?"
A nod.
"See that's why I think talking about this is good because I completely miss interpreted this."
"Did you see all of them?"
"Yes"
"All of them?"
"Yeah, I looked through them." He nods and then a tears rolls down his face. "Come on we go over to the couch for this, we cuddle up with your stuff lion and we talk about these, you can lean against me no need to look me in the eyes or for me to see your face." Morgan over the years found out that that is what makes him feel the most comfortable while talking. Either on car rides when Morgan can't tear his eyes from the road or while walking somewhere or placed so that Morgan isn't looking into his face.
Spencer ignores the offer to get his stuff animal from upstairs but he takes the thick blanket while Morgan pulls out the cautions from underneath making the couch bigger and then leans against him and Morgan opens the next page.
It's the drawing from Morgan in the kitchen, the files everywhere and the cups on the table. "What's with the Cubs?"
"I don't remember."
"Mr I have an eidetic memory that's very hard to believe."
"Sometimes everything gets dirty in our kitchen."
"And that bothers you?"
"I try cleaning it but it seems like it doesn't get better even when everything is properly stored."
"And the files?"
"It always happens when we have many cases after another and then it isn't fun coming home anymore."
"Because its dirty?"
"Because it's all tight" He tries to explain how the house feels to him. "We can't move in here."
"Is that the same thing you wanted to express with this?" Morgan asks opening the page of him laying on the couch with the lianas from the ceiling.
"Yes and- and that I- that I take your energy away."
"Okay one point after the other, what is it with the house being to tight? We have a lot of space and a lot of garden and everything, what makes it tight?"
"I don't know sometimes it just is." He tells him moving his head back on Morgan's arm shutting his eyes for a moment and then breathing in deeply.
"We don't have to do this all now if its to much for you" He tells him worried about how this affects Reid. "You just explain it the best way you think I will see about the rest."
"You won't get me."
"I do, it's tight in here sometimes, like you can't move."
"Yes"
"And cleaning doesn't help"
"Yes"
"See not that bad"
"It makes me feel bad." He continues and then hits his thigh ones. "Like I need to run."
"Like you need to run?"
"Yes. Like I have to move. Like my legs haven't moved enough."
"Because it's to tight in here?"
"Yes."
"What about you taking my energy away? What do you mean by that?" Spencer turns his head away not looking at the page but then eventually speaks.
"I am really not an easy friend."
"For me you are."
"No I am not."
"You are not taking my energy away."
"You could do a lot more thinks if it wasn't for me." Spencer justifies his statement.
"Like what?" But he just shakes his head still facing away from him and Morgan tries encouraging him to talk to Hotch but Spencer denies the offer so Morgan moves his hand down around his waist and pulls him closer again. "C'mon you did so good with the first drawings and we won't have to talk about this one any more we can just move on to another.”
Rest on Ao3 (I can’t post more words in here I’m sorry):

Sweet lovin’.
Sawamura Daichi x reader.
synopsis: just Daichi helping you open a letter from your University.
word count: 1.6 K
tags: fluff
~~~
"C’mon Y/N, open it!" the boy on your right encourages you.
You're a little anxious, your hands are shaking slightly while you carefully unlock your phone. You can't calm down: you know how important is that email, you've been waiting for two weeks now. You open the inbox, but immediately lock the screen, not feeling brave enough.
You knew that getting into the university you were aiming to wouldn't be that easy, so you immediately took as many courses you could to prepare for the various entrance tests you’d have to do. Even so, when you found out you had to bring a completely new and original project, (the promotion of a product completed with data and graphs concerning sales), you were quite surprised not expecting it and soon you started panicking as you saw the million challenges you’d have to face, not to mention all the pressure you felt: after all it was the task you would have to submit if you wanted to be admitted to the marketing courses in what could be your future University (if you made it).
You are resolute and organised, you’ve been making plans for your future since you were really young, thinking about what your job would be when you grow up. You've always liked to read and recommend books to your friends or parents, so you decided to work for a publisher and evaluate which manuscripts to publish and which to discard. But it is clear that to do such a job you also need to know how to sell a product: it is therefore essential for you a degree in Marketing and Communication. You had calculated everything, down to the smallest detail, and yet in front of that email just over two months ago you had trembled, finding yourself deadly worried. On the other hand you had never done anything like this, starting from scratch, without anyone’s help and that’s what was most likely to have determined your admission.
For days you were scrambled to come up with an idea that could represent you 100%, and then you found yourself one day in the school gym in front of the entire men's volleyball team, on the orange flyer in your hands it was written in capital letters "LOOKING FOR HELP FOR OUR MANAGERS."
"Help us grow! If you are interested, come look for us: Sawamura Daichi (3rd year, section 4); Shimizu Kiyoko (3rd year, section 2)."
You immediately saw the opportunity behind that simple piece of paper. You had found your "product" to advertise, it was the opportunity you were looking for and you could not let it got; that's why you let instinct take over you and you headed straight to the gym; you hadn't given it too much thought, knowing too well that if only you'd stopped for one more moment to reflect, you'd only come out with more doubts.
You were presented to your "project" and they had welcomed you with open arms, especially Nishinoya and Tanaka, happy to have more people in their big family and that could lighten the load of work for Kiyoko and Hitoka. Although at first you had no intention of becoming a manager of Karasuno, day by day you had bonded more and more with those guys, finding yourself one day crying in front of everyone because of how boded you were when Hinata gave you with a beaming smile the team uniform. You had learned to appreciate each one of them, everyone with their own special personality, trying to help them as best you could during their training: several times you happened to assist Kageyama and Hinata till late and help them improving their spikes, or healing the wounds and bruises that Noya got, not to mention all the afternoons spent trying to comfort Asahi, in an attempt to raise his self-esteem a little. Then along with Hitoka and Kiyoko you draw posters and opened a fund for the team, you created a page on Facebook by posting constant updates, just as you had created a Twitter profile where only the three of you, Daichi, Suga and Professor Takeda had the access (coach Ukai refused to take part in something that complicated). You saw how slowly your crows got up again attracting more and more attention, just as you had seen your project take shape and come true.
After about a month of joining the team, you had taken the train to Tokyo along with the three third year and Kiyoko, who had decided to come with you to bring all the necessary documents for the application and the eventual registration. Careless as you are, you would surely have got lost, that's why Suga asked you if he could join you and after hearing him, the others had also offered to keep you company along the way.
Finally, another email had arrived on your phone: for three days you did not even look at your inbox, too scared to find out that you had been refused. Not to mention that of all the possible days Suga, being aware of your crush on the captain, had decided that today was the best day to give his contribution and leave you alone with Daichi to tidy the gym putting the last things in place, hoping that you will muster up courage to take the first step and confess. It’s obvious saying that his hopes are unfortunately misplaced.
Daichi, being the kind person he is, seeing you more nervous than usual asks you if you had heard from the University and suddenly you turn pale, telling him all your concerns.
"Good heavens Daichi, I can't do it, please look instead!" you beg the boy by your side. You have the feeling that, if it’s him the one who's telling you you've failed, it's going to hurt less than reading it with your own eyes. The captain picks up your phone with one hand and yours with other, making you blush instantly.
You don't know how or when you started having feelings for him, you only know that at some point you started paying a lot more attention to what he told you and noticing all the details of his face: how he purse his lips when he scores a point, how he snaps his tongue with frustration when during training he fails to serve or receiving Asahi’s services. Of course, you immediately tried to hide it all, choosing to focus on the first years and prevent Tsukishima and Kageyama from biting each other’s face off.
"You have to tell me the passcode, Y/N." he replies with a chuckle, trying to calm you down by caressing your hand in circular movements, causing the opposite effect.
You feel your heart beating wildly, you're not used to having so much skinship between you two, neither being so close with him. Of course, it had happened other times that accidentally in removing the net he touched your hand, but you always tried to pretend as if nothing happened, obviously failing: Tsukishima and Sugawara immediately understood that you had feelings for him, as well as Kiyoko, who immediately encouraged you along with the setter.
You give him the password and watch him carefully swipe his fingers across the screen, opening the inbox and reading the email carefully. After what seems like centuries, he rolls his eyes towards you and with a smile he turns your phone towards you. You rip it out of his hands and read until you find the magic word: ACCEPTED.
"You made it Y/N, you got accepted." He congratulates you and, in a moment of pure euphoria, you throw your arms around his neck, clutching him as tightly as you can as he bursts out laughing and hugs you back.
You feel so comfortable in his muscular arms, you feel warm, feeling almost as if you were home. You would never want to move away, but after a few seconds you two separate, you redder than ever, while he looks at you, smiling, holding once again your hand with his and you look down on the ground regretting being so careless.
"Sorry, I didn't want to jump on-" You interrupt as soon as Daichi raises your chin and brings your face close to his, looking into your eyes, his lips brushing yours, softly, delicately, kindly, almost as if he's afraid of breaking you.
When you separate you look at him surprised, with your mouth agape, unable to say anything, because DAICHI JUST KISSED YOU. You are speechless, trying to understand that what just happened is not a mere dream. The boy meanwhile waits for your reaction, but seeing that you are still silent he lets out a laugh, rather embarrassed by all that courage he showed you just now.
"I'm sorry Y/N, I don't know what’s gotten into me. I'm sorry I should have told you first, but you know I like you so much that seeing you-" he tries to explain you, but you interrupt him right away.
"You what?!" you ask him, your eyes wide open, as he looks at you even more nervous than before, he just wants to sink and disappear sucked into the ground.
“Yes, I've liked you for a while, I thought I'd tell you one of these days. I thought it was pretty obvious..." He tells you, scratching the back of his neck with one hand. You suddenly take the other hand.
“I like you too!" you say with a smile. You remind him so much of a little girl who just got the gift she wanted for her birthday. He can't help bursting out laughing again seeing your happy eyes, wrapping you again with those arms you love so much.
“That’s good, you know? I was dying of shame." He whispers sweetly in your ear, while you smile, letting yourself sink in the warmth of his embrace, chuckling back.
hurricane irma can't stop me
I go by M, for the most part. It’s one of my favorite letters, so without a doubt, I’d like to think of it as my unofficial online call sign. Currently, I am in the Eastern Time Zone, but I’m fairly versatile with roleplaying alongside with others from different timezones (with minor exceptions to GMT, and those with more than 5 hours ahead or behind). I’ve found that those interactions simply don’t work all that well in terms of keeping in touch, and I’ve had to discontinue two partners simply because the time difference was too much. But I digress from that! Twenty-six years of age, and I have been roleplaying for over 10 years, so I have a good deal of experience in my humblest opinion.
I figure that’s enough about myself; now to get to the main reason you’re all reading this, and that is because I have been looking for roleplayers with the coming of this new year, someone to keep my muse levels high and my writing always on point while I maintain having two jobs, as well as a burgeoning social life. Someone easygoing yet creative with a vivid imagination to bring ideas to form is highly desired in a writer.
This request is not for the faint of heart, and those who have considerable limits, hesitations, and triggers are likely not going to be a good match. Just fair warning.
WRITING
I am a multi-paragraph sort of writer, which means that frequently, my writing will exceed at least 600 words, and upward of 1000+ words. I love detail and description, and I am actively seeking someone of the same infamy. Once upon a time, I managed to keep up with a story that teetered around 3000+ per reply with someone, still maintaining the same detailed descriptive writing, and I definitely wouldn’t mind having that challenge once more. Generally, I tend to write in the third person.
GENRES / PAIRINGS / FACES
I exclusively play male characters in mxf pairings with any smut or romantic attachment, this is non-negotiable. I fully understand and respect roleplayers who are able to play both males and females and nonbinary characters in different pairings. I simply don’t have that versatility, as when I’ve played them in the past, there was an innate in-authenticity that I felt. On the other hand, I am a bit more versatile when it comes to genres and settings that I like to play in. Supernatural is my absolute bread and butter, especially urban and gothic fantasy. Anything to do with vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, shapeshifters, mutants, other urban creature of folklore, given some sort of modern day spun, is absolutely perfect for me. I also really love science fiction in its many forms. Primarily, I take my sci-fi craving inspirations from Star Wars, Mass Effect, and Destiny. I’ve also been slowly intrigued by zombie-less post-apocalyptic storylines, something where the cataclysm is not necessarily caused by rabid zombies (I’m not a big fan of the stereotypical zombies portrayed in The Walking Dead and stuff), but something with either a lethal virus, or a planetary disaster, like an extreme coronal mass ejection.
Another genre that I’ve slowly found interest in includes that of the superhero genre. I’m a big fan of both Marvel and DC fandom, and the concept of having superhumans, humans with abilities, anything of that short would be awesome to do. Against, these would be with original characters on my part. I’m not as fond of general real-life or general modern day genres and themes without a good, complex idea attached to it.
One thing I really love to employ in my roleplays would be face claims, faces, playbys, picture bases, however you call it nowadays. Like I said, I started out roleplaying on forums like proboards, and later, jcink and invisionfree, so face claims are quite prevalent for me. This would only be real-life pictures, and not anime or drawings. We can use the latter for reference points, but I would ideally like face claims to be involved. In terms of looks and stuff, I’ve generally gone for a variety of different guys for who I use to represent my characters. Two of my favorite faces are Tom Hardy and Charlie Hunnam: I can use them for anything. I’ve also had a penchant for guys like Richard Armitage, Marlon Teixeira, Chadwick Boseman, Jason Momoa, and Ed Skrein. For women, my characters playing against, I like to go for an even greater assortment of faces. From actresses like Natalie Dormer, Katie McGrath, Deborah Ann Woll, and Olivia Wilde, models like Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel, glamour models like Lucy Collett, Lucy Pinder, and Billie Faiers, alternative models like Sara Fabel and Kelly Eden, and even adult faces like Christy Mack and Nikki Benz – you name them, I’m probably interested in them. So the flexibility is highly wanted.
WORLD BUILDING
I want an active roleplayer in this category, without a doubt. i love to world-build, but I tend to lose interest when I am the only one who puts in the effort to world-build. Too often I find people gun-shy in this regard. If I feel that I’m carrying the weight of the world-building part with specific ideas, I will end the roleplay in a heartbeat. And consider that the world building is just the tip of the beginning, so from that, I’ll be able to see whether we’ll be a match or not. Because we’d be starting from scratch with whatever we do, it would be a big relief to have someone who doesn’t mind letting ideas flow to set up the universe that we will be roleplaying in. That way, I feel as though we would both be extremely immersed into the roleplay. Let’s create lively planets with vast underground criminal empires, ot a galaxy far, far away, or galaxies far, far away.
MATURE CONTENT
I enjoy writing smut, plain and simple. I don’t hinder myself – or I try not to – in what I write, the exact extremeness and depth and detail, and I expect my partner to do the same. Maybe not extremeness in a total and complete smutfest (but really, I wouldn’t be opposed), but I do like a variety of things that can be incorporated along with a fascinating story. Some kinks I love include BDSM, incest, the unholy trinity (oral, anal, and such), dubious consent, hair-pulling, those sorts of things. A particularly darker kink that is not explored enough for me is pregnancy/impregnation/breeding. Also, since I love things like psychological trauma and experimentation (in science fiction and supernatural context), those are also highly desired. The manipulation of someone’s mind, body, and soul, combined with elements of corruption and body alteration/transformation – love. These lean more on this smuttier side of the roleplaying, which I like to fashion it as a coin; heads being the smut, tails being the story. I tend to think of them as two halves of a whole and complete experience, and you simply cannot have one without the other.
I’ve bulleted the major kinks/mature themes that I want to explore.
Psychological torment. Again, I really enjoy this sort of roleplaying, challenging the mind, characters in situations where they ultimately do not recover from it mentally, where their psychological profile is irrevocably changed.
The unholy trinity. Oral, anal, vaginal sex. Like I said, I enjoy my smut, I’m shameless, don’t care much for judging.
Corruption. Easily one of my favorite themes to explore, and it doesn’t have to just be as simple as sexual corruption, turning a poor innocent girl and debasing her to the point of no return. Something as simple as a hardened person, forged from the rigors of life, suddenly finding themselves in a position of finer things. Of wealth, of relaxation. That can sow the seeds into a slow descent into something illegal, lewd, or all of the above. And they can view it as the ultimate freedom from that hardship.
Drugs. The exploration of a person’s psyche that forces them to turn to recreational drugs to cope with whatever situations they have.
Vanity, body alterations. This can be through different genres and for different reasons. Imperfections are everywhere, and I love roleplaying themes where the characters will go through whatever means. Larger breasts and a more voluptuous curves in order to make money or ascend higher in the economic sphere. Modified abs, cosmetic surgery, all of those things would be included.
Taboo pairings. Specifically incest or interracial. I’ve not tried mother/son pairings, but i’d like to see if anyone is up for that. I’m also good with father/daughter and brother/sister pairings, but those would be primarily for science fiction and urban fantasy.
Gore. I don’t mind there being a little or a good deal. With urban fantasy, you can expect this, because I tend to play creatures as vicious, war-mongering, and unapologetic about tapping into their bestial natures.
Bad endings. What if happily ever after isn’t so happily after all? What if the main character doesn’t get the job done, what if there is no fairytale ending, and what results is heartache, pain, misery? Or delight, freedom, and inspiration?
Pregnancy. Impregnation. Breeding. Demons need to procreate to get their army, no? They need to find that special someone who can unearth their demonic spawn and destroy their adversaries. Or, for a more subversive notion, a simple one=night stand ends up being nine months of sheer interest and intrigue for the involved coupling. I lean toward the former, having had some basis in erotic roleplaying in the past, so the more odd themes of this are welcomed. But normal pregnancy with the right plot is also quite fun.
Again, I can’t stress this enough. These themes are going to be darker by nature. While I don’t believe in a purely smut or purely story-centered roleplay, the fact of the matter is that I’m looking for someone who can and has no problem with handling those themes. For me, I’m alright if you have any particular aversion to rape (I’ll never pressure anyone for this) and things like scat and watersports (I’m personally not okay with those latter two), but I’d like it if everything else was fair game. So BDSM, incest, the exploration of similar themes and such.
The only limits I have in this regard would include scat and watersports, those things of that nature. I generally do not mind non-consensual stories that start off that way initially, but over time change (and I know that that isn’t how non-consensual sex works in real life). However, I honestly do not mind it at all if that theme is not included at all since I know that it can be a particular trigger to some..
INSPIRATIONS / FANDOMS
I have many different inspirations when it comes to what I roleplay and how I generally approach a roleplay through my characters, the setting, and such. For urban fantasy roleplays, I’ll take different sets of lore for creatures and create my own, not following any specific script, to say the least. Things from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, Vampires The Masquerade, for instance, would cater to my urban fantasy cravings. Bonus points for anyone familiar with video game franchises like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Destiny, Borderlands, Overwatch. Now, I don’t necessarily roleplay these fandoms to the tee, and I wouldn’t play any canon characters from it. I would, however, love to play opposite canon characters with my own original assembly of characters, as well as playing in scenes and settings reminiscent of these.
PARTICULAR CRAVINGS
Now that I’ve pretty much laid out what I’m about, I’d like to turn your attention to a few particular cravings that I’ve had as of late.
Supernaturally-themed plots are always going to be my bread and butter. I’ve had a craving for demons and demon hunters, this nigh eternal struggle between those that bring hellfire and corruption to humanity, and those tasked with defending humans from them. Or, a more self-serving alternative, these bounty hunters being skilled enough to take the unenviable task of capturing and/or killing demons for a hefty price. Maybe one, or a few demon hunters, get too big for their britches and take on a truly horrifying upper demon. We can play intense themes of carnal desires, corruption, underhanded tricks, contract obligations. [18+]
On the level of science fiction, you’ve seen me repeatedly mention Mass Effect. I love the crew idea, exploring the vast known and unknown reaches of space. Maybe they are a crew of bounty hunters looking for the next payday, or soldiers trying to stave off an alien threat. [18+]
Another science fiction, but with a more centralized main character. Called “The Traveler”, I would like to explore some sort of time-traveling person (not akin to Doctor Who, but the premise is the same). Someone with the advanced technological resources or metahuman abilities to traverse through time. What’s his purpose? What’s his motivation? Maybe instead of preventing things from happening that indicate bad results, maybe “The Traveler” IS the cause of these bad events. Maybe this Traveler has ambition to travel through significant events in history to manipulate them to his ultimate advantage, to gain more power. [18+]
Gotham will burn – Now, this one, is partly because of my interest in the show Gotham, but also from the Batman: Arkham series video games. I love a dark, gritty sort of cityscape with mobsters and criminals, and these rogue vigilantes trying to clean things up. I’ve also been inspired by the TV show Arrow, so this would be along those ideas. Maybe, for once, these supposed “heroes in the dark” can’t clean up the city and instead succumb to the corruptive pressures of an easier, more hedonistic lifestyle? [18+]
The “ambitious plot” – this is something I’ve coined myself, since it is pretty ambitious to bring to life. And this is one of my primary cravings, something of an all-inclusive episodic series, so to speak, which would feature just about everything I love in varying or limitless amounts. I thought of it as something akin to a Mass Effect inspired, Game of Thrones-esque establishment and episode structure, wherein there are different characters with different plot points, in different settings, but altogether would combine for some sort of universal roleplay. Naturally, this would also combine my other four cravings. [18+]
Each of these cravings would require us to play multiple characters off the bat, as well as adding characters either selectively to the storyline, or nondescriptly, because we think another character with a specific personality might add even more intrigue to it. These cravings are also going to vacillate highly between smut and story, depending on the particular facet we’d like to explore.To me, the ambitious plot is the one I’m really seeking, but it is a pretty time-consuming one, and something not for the faint of heart or for others that don’t have all that much time on their hands. As these cravings will be fairly demanding and require a good deal of OOC communication, I will require you to add in your own input AS you contact me. Which means, if you do decide to email me, specifically about those ideas, you must already have some ideas ready to throw at me.
MEDIUM
Medium-wise, I’ve done various forms of roleplaying before. When I started roleplaying, I was initially a site go-getter, loving the pretty graphics and the jcink and invisionfree (and to a lesser extent, proboards) communities. I’m not sure if I want to roleplay on that, for this particular request, as I don’t have it in me to go through the semantics and the time consummation of having to write up an application or a character sheet, so right now, forum roleplaying is off the table. Right now, my main preferences for roleplaying include email and Googledocs, with Googledocs being the main preference right now.
Hopefully I have not dissuaded too many people, but I will say that for the purposes of what I am looking for, I am going to be rather picky about who contacts me. So please, be as detailed in your email as I have been in my request, that’s all i ask. I don’t wish to have emails with the body of them being “Hey, i’m interested in everything you listed, so let’s roleplay” – that does nothing to inspire my confidence and excitement. Let me know what specifically wrapped you into contacting me.
CONTACT
If you are interested in potentially roleplaying with me, please contact me by email ONLY. I made this tumblr just to be able to send these kinds of request, but I otherwise do not use it and will not respond to messages made on it. I created the email specifically for roleplaying means – [email protected]. I’m open to communication and creating a general dialogue through Skype, AIM, or Google Hangouts, but only after the initial email correspondence has been made. For contacting me, I would like your name/online alias, age (because I will only be accepting partners 18 and over), timezone, roleplaying availability, interests, kinks/limits, and – well, hell – include your favorite song lyric in the title of the email.
Did you actually read this in its entirety? I’ll know if you didn’t. I won’t really blame you, since this is a lot I have written, and it might seem that i’m pretty overbearing with what I want. But I promise you that I am a very enjoyable person and a talented writer – or at least, I think so, haha.
I Can't Stop Pulling Out My Eyelashes (It's a Thing)
A few years ago, I saw a girl named Rosie, who I’ve known since I was five years old. We’d fallen out of touch but met again at a party, where we reminisced about our time co-creating the most popular club in first grade: The Teddy Bear Club. (I’m still not sure exactly what we did in this club—appreciate teddy bears)? Together, laughing, we wondered if our elementary school gym teacher, who must have been 100 when she was teaching us how to square dance and lift a giant parachute, was still running the gym classes.
"Remember," Rosie asked, giggling. "When you pulled out all your eyelashes in second grade and then cried at morning meeting about it?"
I froze. I actually didn’t remember. Chances are, I blocked out that particular meltdown; in the early years of my trichotillomania, which started when I was six, I’d had many of them. I cried to my mom after I realized my eyelids were yet again bald after plucking every last one out by the root during a family viewing of the movie Blank Check. And another when Babs Bunny from Looney Tunes pulled out all her eyelashes from stress, and my cousin, in front of everyone, yelled, "Look, it’s Lucy!" If I’m bored or stressed—anytime my hands find themselves without something to do, really—I pull. And when I was a kid, after I’d pull them, I’d break down soon after.
I wanted to scream at Rosie. Not because I was mad, but because without knowing it, she’d revealed my biggest secret to a party full of people. I knew what she said would instantly make anyone who heard look at my eyelids. I could feel their eyes start to raise a fraction of an inch from my pupil to what should be my lash line, where they would notice the black streak across my lids isn’t three dimensional, just one: A layer of eyeliner that I’ve cast to play the part of eyelashes, which I draw on every morning. I haven’t left the house without it since I was 13.
Instead, I said, "Yeah, that was weird." Like me pulling out all of my eyelashes wasn’t something I’d been dealing with for the last 20 years of my life, but a weird fluke that happened during a particularly stressful portion of second grade (long division, probably). "Cool tattoo," I said, changing the subject.
Later, I crept away to the bathroom and did what I do five or six times a day: turned on the light that most brightly illuminated the mirror and put my face up to the glass. I stared at my bald eyelids, checking for any new growth. I looked at my eyes in profile and tried to imagine if the 10 or 11 eyelashes I did have, the ones that had been spared an untimely death (for now), were enough to convince people I had a full set. Maybe people with very blurry vision would be fooled, but it was pretty obvious, overall.
...Once my brain decides my eyelashes need to be removed, [my hands] work without my input, like a very determined gardener weeding a vegetable patch.
Some nights, I stay up until morning because I can’t fall asleep until I pull the perfect eyelash. There are differences in the way an eyelash feels: Some are deeply rooted and pull out with a thick, wet tip. These are good ones. Some, the ones I’ve pulled out over and over, have flimsy, black tips. These are disappointing to pull.
On nights like this, I get up to wash my face over and over again, trying to straighten out the lashes I’ve curled into corkscrews with my fingernails, the way ribbon on a present curls with scissors. I try to tell my hands to stop, but when it comes to my eyelashes, my hands only half belong to me. For most tasks, I’m in full control of them, but once my brain decides my eyelashes need to be removed, they work without my input, like a very determined gardener weeding a vegetable patch. My arm gets sore, but I can’t stop.
My eyes are always full of cat hair, dust, and sand. A giant scar runs down one of my corneas from a scratch I got from one of these foreign bodies my eyes could not defend themselves against without a barricade of eyelashes. I see it all the time.
I get out of bed and read online forums for people like me: trichotillomaniacs. I don’t talk about it with anyone. It’s not really something you chat with your friends about over brunch. "Is anyone else getting another mimosa? Hey, by the way, I can’t stop ripping my own eyelashes out of my head. Can someone pass the hot sauce?"
For a while, I wore fake eyelashes, which seems like an obvious solution. But fake eyelashes are made for people who have real eyelashes—they often flop over your eyes like Snuffleupagus’s when you have nothing to support them (last summer, at a wedding, a friend had to pull me aside to tell me my eyelashes were dangling off my face).
And when you do find falsies that stay up straight, they are almost never made to look natural: They either have gaps between the lashes where your real lashes are meant to fill in, or they look so gaudy and huge that wearing them on a daily basis makes everyone wonder if you just returned from dancing at some sort of daytime nightclub.
I turned 30 this year, which marks almost 25 years in my quest to remove every single eyelash from my head. Doctors have told me that eventually, they won’t grow back. A few months ago, for the first time, I noticed they were finally right—the tiny buds that usually showed up a few weeks after pulling were making less regular appearances. I secretly snuck onto Sephora.com and bought a $75 eyelash serum, which I told my husband only cost $50. Because while he is the only person I can talk about my trich with, I knew he wouldn’t understand that I’d literally be willing to pay any price to have real eyelashes: $75, $100, $1,000, seven years of hard labor abroad a questionably sound sea vessel, literally anything.
I wonder sometimes why I had to have a compulsion like trichotillomania instead of a weird birthmark shaped like Yoda, or strangely small ears, or anything less embarrassing them my own lack of control plastered on my face, right in the eyeline of everyone I have ever met. It seems a bit harsh.
But then again, it doesn’t cause me any real harm besides how I look, and occasional minor eye damage. I’m healthy, despite this minorly broken part of my brain. Even as far as trichotillomaniacs go, it could be worse. Some people pull out all the hair on their heads, and I’ve never touched my head hair. Doctors have told me that it’s only cosmetic.
The way you know if a cartoon character is a male or a female is this: Look for the eyelashes. Minnie Mouse is just Mickey with three curved lines drawn above her eyes. Lola Bunny sports a flutter of eyelashes, while Bugs only rocks his expressive eyebrows. Daisy Duck would just be Donald in a dress—if it wasn’t for her long eyelashes. Maybe it’s only cosmetic, but it’s hard not to feel like eyelashes are what make the girl.
I hope that one day I can stop, that I will grow a whole set of eyelashes and not have to wear a protective layer of eyeliner like armor. I’ve tried therapy a few times, and while I know other people have had good results, for me it never seems to help. The only times I’ve been able to grow my eyelashes back were when I’ve pushed myself hard for a specific reason: I grew them back once when I was long distance from my boyfriend to surprise him. I grew most of them back for my wedding.
But eventually it takes too much mental energy to hold my hands at my sides, and I give in again. All the milestones I set for myself have come and gone without permanent change. I used to tell myself, "By the time I graduate college, I’ll stop." "By the time I’m 25." "By the time I have a real job."
At some point, maybe I should change the goal: Try to leave the house bare-lidded, embrace being Donald in a dress instead. But for now, I keep the shame nearly secret and blame myself for what my hands can’t stop doing.
Maybe when I’m 35.
