As much as Sanji denied it, he knew he was a sick, twisted bastard.

Standing like a shadow in the doorway, despite every cell in his body screaming at him to move, his feet planted firmly in the floor. The filter of his unlit cigarette smashed between his gritting teeth as he watched silently.

The way you ate your parfait entranced him, a beautiful display of skill on his part, layers of fluffy greek yogurt he had prepared the day before with spoiled milk, leftover strawberries, and homemade granola loaded on your spoon. The metal slips between plush lips, and when you pull it back out, it sparkles in the midday sun. The demon that resides in him wonders if his skin would do the same in your mouth.

Your pink tongue darts out to lick the remnants on from the corner of your mouth. He clutches the serving tray closer to his chest and he feels his knees tremble with each carefree swipe.

He wonders if you could taste his desperation in the snack, the way he had thought over each layer, scared that it wouldn’t satisfy the hungers in both of you.

Had he subconsciously picked the snack? He asks to himself, the shame of his perversions pulled him deeper in the shadows of his mind.

No, he knew what he had done.

And he enjoyed it.

That sick part of him wanted to see the white drip down your throat, to watch the satisfaction that spread across your face. He watched your fingers trace the edges of the cup, and he had never been jealous of a meal in his life.

You moan, scrapping the remnants of the bowl, you set it down on the deck beside you, sighing in satisfaction. Sanji didn’t think he’d last, recording the sound in his catalog of fappable material for later, as he stepped forward into the light, plastering his usual plastic, dopey smile as he approached you.

You kick your feet as you turn your attention back to the magazine in your lap, a lazy finger skimming the pages. The darkness he casts over you makes you peer up from the page, watching him reach over and swipe the crystal glass you had only set down a moment before.

“Hey, Ji,” the way you sing his name makes his heart hammer in his chest.

“Hi,” He answered lamely, cringing at how how high his voice had risen. He clears his throat, dry from looking down at you, if he looked closely, he could peer down your shirt. “I was just gonna take this for you. Did you enjoy the treat, princess?”

“Like always,” You smile wickedly, ”you always know how to satisfy me.”

He swallowed nothing, his tongue was cotton.

“I always aim to please,” He admits and he feels floaty, the scent of vanilla and strawberries infiltrating his nose. He turns his head to the side. If you kept looking at him like that, he was going to pass out.

“But,” You voice was low, itching the far reaches of his mind where the beast resides, mauling at his rational thoughts. His tie dangles in front of your face, and you reach out, thumbing the silk as he avoids your gaze. You watch his adam’s apple bob nervously as he tugs at the perfect windsor knot. “I want more.”

“Of cours-“ Sanji stops himself though, cursing himself to the pits of hell.

He had given all the crewmates parfaits, and had let Luffy eat the remaining portion. He feels his brow twitch. That idiot didn’t even appreciate it in the way you had, calling it weird pudding, out of all things. Now he had you, begging for more, and he couldn’t even provide that.

“I’m sorry, mon trésor,” He says, voice full of pity, “we are all out. Would you like anything else? I’ll do- I’ll make anything for you”

With a puckered lips and creased eyebrows, you mull over the idea. He wondered if he could get the same look out of you if he was buried between your legs, fanning feathery kisses in the crux of your thighs, sliding ever closer to your center, inhaling deep breaths of your pu-

“I think I’ll just wait,” You sweet voice breaks through his dazed, glossed over eyes, watching his face contort in horror and guilt.

“If you insist.” He jerks up, stiff as board, gripping the glass in his hands so hard his knuckles were stark white, casting a careful gaze that darted over your body. “I’ll leave you to your afternoon then.”

It was cute on him, you think to yourself. The humiliation caused by his own volition.

You watch him march awkwardly to the kitchen, avoiding Usopp and Chopper’s calls from the other side of the deck. The tray he shielded his lower desires, cup tremoring between deft fingers. You sigh, slumping over as soon as the galley doors slam shut.

A sick, twisted part of yourself wondered- what face would he make caged between your thighs? Maybe it’d be that same pathetic look he gave you on more than one occasion. A look that always wound up a tight coil in your stomach, in desperate need of release.

If only he could just take a hint.

Egotober 2023 Day 15: Makes and Models

Summary: Yancy’s getting bigger, stronger. But he’s not strong enough for everything yet.

A/N: It’s 3rd Sunday. You know what that means . . . Yancy angst.

It was a calm but otherwise quiet Sunday. Dark didn’t like them being in the warehouse all week. He barely let them work at the warehouse, they could loiter around in his office but that was it.

But Illinois didn’t like being in Dark’s offices all day, even his larger warehouse office. Maybe he’d go later in the day to bother Patton and Arthur but for now he was wandering around the Manor. Sometimes even getting himself lost.

When Illinois opened a door it was into the garage which wasn’t the weirdest thing. He was supposed to be going into the attic, not the ground floor. But he’d been spat out in weirder places than this.

Yancy was in the garage, working on one of the cars in the garage. The garage doors were pulled open. An old Chrysler Windsor that Dark just let Yancy tinker around with because it sure wasn’t going anywhere.

“Hey,” Illinois called out and Yancy stuck his head out a window.

“Oh, hey, Ills.” Yancy smiled at him. Grease on his face and hands. “What’s up?”

Illinois shrugged. “Oh, nothing, was just bored and wandering around. How’s the car coming along?”

“It’s fine, still learning.” Yancy was climbing out of the car through the window with a large piece of metal. He’d recently started another growth spurt but wasn’t taller than Illinois and he certainly was nowhere near Arthur already was. Even if all three of them hadn’t stopped growing yet. “I’ll get it eventually.”

“Definitely,” Illinois said, admiring the mess of a car.

They were quiet for a little bit as Illinois watched Yancy and Yancy went off to try and scrub his hands clean. Illinois looked out at the mess of parts and how Illinois couldn’t lift half of this stuff.

Then. “I’m gonna try and convince Appa to get me a motorcycle.”

Yancy looked back at him. “Today.”

“No,” Illinois said. “After the fight to get into the Network I need to work up to it. Really seed out that I want one and gauge his reaction to it.”

“Yeah, well good luck,” Yancy scoffed.

Illinois spent some time with Yancy in the garage. Yancy grabbed and organized a bunch of his tools and scrap. Illinois only helped a little bit and tried not to feel bad that a fifteen-year-old was stronger than him. They were just talking about random stuff and then they decided to take a walk in the woods.

It was nice for a while, walking in what most people thought was a hell scape of twisting woods that only soon-to-be-dead people, and the Warfstache-Doom walked. For the Lost Ones the haunted, cursed woods just spat them back out to the Manor. All they had to do was decide if they wanted snacks or to keep doing their walk.

They talked about random things like what was going on in the Network, how Patton and Arthur were doing, and anything that came into their mind.

When the Manor was in sight again, they paused.

“You wanna keep walking or you good?” Illinois asked.

Yancy just looked at the Manor, thinking about something. And then he just kept staring at it.

Illinois let it go for a minute, enjoying the peace for a bit. But after a while he spoke up. “Hey, Yance, you okay?”

Yancy startled a little, “Huh, oh sorry.”

“You want me to call Appa?” Illinois asked.

“No, I’m good,” Yancy said.

Illinois felt like he should pry, but Yancy never had so he didn’t. He would forget before he realized he would regret not asking when he had the chance.

They went inside and Yancy went up to his room to grab something and on his desk he saw a childhood drawing he had done when he was little and Dark had placed it in a simple wooden frame for him. A crude nine-year-old’s drawing of Yancy with his parents.

The older he got, the harder it was to remember them and Yancy hated that. But anytime he made a thought to remind Dark about finding them he would forget by the time he got Dark’s attention.

And that never sat right with Yancy. He didn’t know why it happened and he hated it. But neither he nor Dark had any answer for why it was happening.

Maybe he would, maybe he’d be strong enough to break whatever was happening to him.

Maybe.

Welcome back to another Feature Project! The SWMW Feature Project portfolio is a chance for our team to sound off about projects that we’ve had a hand in over the years – and a great way for us to showcase how we can help future customers!

In this piece, we’ll focus on the Windsor Ford car dealership construction in Grande Prairie. We completed this new addition project a few years ago now, but it’s a source of great pride and inspiration to our team to this day!

Measuring in at a staggering 100,000 sq. ft., the Windsor Ford facility is one of the largest dealerships in North America, and was an exercise for our team in project management, modern design, and architectural skill.

This project is a testament to our ability to work on a project of any scope and size. From towering, magnificent works of architectural design to important agricultural upgrades – the Southwest and Midwest Design & Construction team has the expertise and skill to execute any project successfully!

Project Details

Sector: Commercial Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta Timeline: Our scope of work was scheduled to start September of 2016 and to be completed by July 28th of 2017

Our goal was to create a state-of-the-art 57,500 sq. ft. new addition that would serve as a shop large enough to meet the growing demands of the existing Windsor Ford Facility. We supplied and erected the rigid frame building for the 34 bay service bays, as well as the quick lube and prep area.

The thriving community of Grande Prairie is an ideal hub for serving customers from a large radius around the city – so Windsor Ford’s expansion came at just the right time.

Considerations and Challenges

Throughout project progress, our team navigated various factors that influenced the timeline, budget, and overall execution. Let's explore some of the key considerations and challenges encountered:

Weather Delays:

Construction projects are often subject to abrupt weather changes, and this project was no different. Our team had to account for particularly heavy rains that occurred during the construction period. These delays required careful scheduling adjustments and proactive measures to mitigate their impact on the project's timeline.

Regular Meetings for Collaboration

To ensure smooth progress and effective communication, we met with the client and our subcontractors regularly during the project. These meetings addressed any issues or concerns that could potentially impact the project's schedule or budget. By fostering this open communication, we ensured that everyone stayed on the same page.

Sub-Trades and Partnerships

We partnered with our longtime subcontractor partner, Ironsun, to help us with erecting the rigid frame building, which included 34 service bays, a quick lube area, and a prep area.

To reduce the amount of construction debris sent to landfills, our project team diligently separated construction waste materials. Metal scrap and plastics were carefully segregated and sent to recyclers instead of being sent to landfills.

The facility's design incorporated energy-efficient elements aimed at reducing energy consumption. This included the integration of a thermal roof – a ‘cool’ roof designed to reflect sunlight, which helps to lower the overall temperature of the building. This innovative technology can help reduce energy costs and keep staff and customers comfortable!

Pepper knows she’ll never remarry.

Because of all the things she’s trying to do these days (keep Stark Industries running, running damage control as Rescue, be a good parent, make sure Morgan doesn’t grow up traumatised, stop everyone from looking at her with so much pity), finding a new Tony is definitely not on her list.

The therapist Rhodey recommends her says that’s not what dating is. It’s rebuilding. The lady has experience. She must’ve gotten a lot of work after the snap. But Pepper knows what rebuilding is. It’s rebar and concrete and straining to push up walls with her thrusters in high and then it’s landing, it’s hearing a small crunch and looking down because somehow, inexplicably there’s a plastic iron man mask crushed under her boot and when she picks it up, and hands it back to the doe-eyed kid, she’s thankful the helmet hides her tears. That’s what rebuilding is, she snaps and the therapist - her name is something like Linda or Margaret and it doesn’t matter - the therapist just nods and Pepper doesn’t go back for a second appointment.

She knows that it’s not the point. That she didn’t win that argument, if it even was one. She knows that it’s because she can still feel his skin pressed up to her lips. Because he looked at her as he died. Because when he breathed for the last time, it was so that he could say her name.

It’s because of a lot of things, but in the middle of the night when Pepper wakes up to an empty space where Tony used to sleep, she knows that he was the only man she’d ever wanted to kiss.

They’d gotten married by the lake. The wedding was big, but not as big as it could’ve been - they’d been ready for the vows as soon as Tony could stand without passing out. And there was a line of empty chairs at the front, kept empty with a harsh whisper and a knowing look because everyone knew what it meant.

Tony had fiddled with his tie all morning.

‘You know I still think-‘ he’d started and she’d interrupted, amused, in love, annoyed at how he’d somehow messed up the Windsor knot.

‘I am not getting married to you in a metal suit.’

And then he’d gotten pouty and snarky and she knew he was nervous because she was as well. By the time they got to the altar, the tie was more like a decorative twist of cloth. But at that point she didn’t care about the tie anymore because he’d stared at her like she was the most precious thing he’d ever seen in his life and he’d laughed in this incredulous breath of love, speechless for the first time in his life, and he’d kissed her.

Later they would tease each other over crying. Pepper would always insist Tony was the first one to break, and she knows she’ll maintain that opinion until the day she dies.

At the after party, he’d spilled wine all over her wedding dress and they’d made out in a dark corner like they were teenagers. There’d been confetti in his hair, little scraps of rainbow paper that fluttered down around them when she dragged him closer, groaned into his mouth. He was still so fragile - Pepper remembers smoothing her hands over the shoulders of his dress shirt and catching on the bumps. But even then he was her anchor, he was a smug grin to cover up the bags under her eyes, a sharp quip made vulnerable - ‘not having second thoughts are you?’ - and then it was her kissing him again, knowing that there was more to do, more to say but in that moment all they needed was each other.

One day, that need won’t haunt every second of her life. One day, she’ll stop lying to herself and really rebuild. But tonight, Pepper remembers the feeling of Tony’s arms around her, she remembers the feeling of his lips pressed to her shoulder in a ‘goodnight’. Tonight, she thinks about the only husband she’ll ever have, and she grieves.
