They have a quiet cigarette break together and assist each other in pushing a ridiculously huge box into the house. Isn't this what friendship is all about?

This is his very first interaction with anyone but The Purple One, a day after signing his contract. So far he is all alone. Neither Team has moved into the village yet and he hasn't anything to fight with but his rusty fishing utensils.

And of course the laughably large box is preparation for the war and contains the weapons he will have to use. And a present?..

What if the thralling Malak does on Adrastus is to have them well and truly believe that they’re just ‘roommates’ or that Ad is Malak’s ‘butler’ or smth. Malak engrains that everything is normal and fine and completely comfortable and that the wine Malak serves doesn’t taste metallic or warm at all. it keeps echoes of the normal story of Ad being obsessed w keeping their thrall happy. Malak’s goal would be to have his thrall feel normal and like they were never a vampire at all

That’s so cool… There’s a chance I might consider doing something similar with Nevan and Darius but. I kind of doubt it just because I’m not sure it would fit with what I have in my head! But not Malak and Adrastus. That’s honestly such a good idea though. Like I really love that…

But what I’m thinking is that when Ad was under their first owner they were treated pretty much like a pet, similar to Malak in cannon, and so Malak sort of takes on a similar approach.

He doesn’t necessarily enjoy that part, like having them sleep on the ground next to him, them insisting on wearing and collar and leash, but if he doesn’t, they freak out. He really just. Has no idea how to fully recover them from that past conditioning, so he just works with it. They’re FAR less dehumanized when they live with him, but it’s still sort of obvious that they’re treated pet like.

But he’s kinda like ‘if they’re happy it must be okay’ :D and he knows he treats his thrall a LOT better than most vampires do, so he’s not super concerned with it

(but gosh I do love your ramble. An AMAZING idea but I don’t think it would work with what I have :( but UGH I love that holy shit)
