y’know i was gonna give a massive detailed observation of why the fandom might see certain characters and portray them the way they do. but then i thought of it in more simpler terms and honestly…?

i think it’s the classic curse of a character (bonus if its an asshole character) showing tears and 1/16th of their tragic backstory, and that’s all they are going to be painted as moving forward. And he’s a Sonic? The character that a portion of the fandom also want to see cry so badly, double points.

god this isnt just a thing with scourge but with villain characters in general people will say they love it when characters are evil or mean but then when they like a character that actually falls into that category they tend to like. try make them softer i guess is a good way to put it. like they say theyre not actually bad theyre just traumatized even if the way theyre portrayed in the source material doesnt back that idea up at all. and then they get mad when people say they're not really like that

and like there ARE characters who are villains or just briefly played an antagonistic role who act the way they do because of trauma or manipulation, or whos actions are kinda understandable given their backstory, but scourge isnt one of them guys im sorry to say . canon scourge is literally just an asshole thats it and i think the world would be a better place if people would accept that and move on

as for your question umm its kinda hard to say because its been a bit since ive played through all of the stages but from the ones i remember really clearly i really like rooftop run night in the xbox version. which is probably a basic answer but whatever. i love the clock tower i got so excited when they went there in idw sonic a few issues ago

You might’ve secretly followed Mirage when he went over to distract Scourge while the others went on and save the world, no way in hell you were allowing an alien to destroy your planet. No way you were letting Mirage, you’re new friend, fight him alone. You started to rethink your decision when you were running across the platform, no weapon in hand to fight 20+ feet robot aliens and explosions going off everywhere. Then again, you were determined to fight along side your new robot alien friend to defeat the other…robot alien fiend. Aliens really need to find another planet to make a pit stop at, dont they?

You grunt as you pick up a piece of debris from the ground, it’s about the size of your head and could do as much damage as a splinter to Scourge. Who cares, you’d rather it be annoying than harmless

Scourge knocks Mirage back and you take this as an opportunity.

“Y/N stay back!” He reaches out but its too late, you’re already yelling and sprinting towards Scrourge, your piece of metal in your hand and waving it around like a crazy person.

“FIGHT MEE!” The piece of debris goes flying towards Scourge, only for it to hit his leg with a clank and deflect back into the floor. You freeze in your tracks, fuck. You’re out of breath and your little plan didnt work.

Scourge doesn’t squish you, he barely retains a laugh. Evil guys dont laugh, they cackle menacingly when revealing their evil plan to you. But this? This was…amusing to him.

“Did you really think that would work? How foolhardy, how stupid, how…fascinating”

He towers above you even as he leans down to..examine you? The proximity of his frame to your face is so close, your face was burning. You didn’t know if it was the fire and lava around you or just pure embarrassment.

“Uh, i don’t-“ Was he…flirting with you? You stood frozen even as his metal hand rose up, inching towards you. Do you run, freeze, or attack with your bare fists? Realistically your fists would be useless against his frame, you would be more in pain than he would. Even if you wanted to run, those eyes of his kept you in place. Such an intense orange gaze, who could look away from that? Scourge was getting distracted, he could easily snatch you up and complete his mission, but he couldn’t help but revel in your gaze of extreme awe and fear. He was rudely interrupted when Mirage started shooting again

You too snapped out of your thoughts and took a few steps back before sprinting back behind Mirage. “Mirage, was he fucking flirting with me?!” You yell over the sound of their blasters. You hid behind a small structure as the fight continued, not without noticing the way he occasionally glanced at you before attacking Mirage. You couldn’t tell if he was showing off or not

“Hey, sweet stuff.” A voice draws out from behind you, interrupting your baking at hand as your boyfriend emerges from his nap this late. “Smells damn good in here. What’cha makin’?” It’s already 00:48, and he wants to come over here like it’s the crack of dawn. Ugh.

Scourge tilts his head at your displeased expression. “What?” He says, enjoying your physical reaction of annoyance as you turn your heel, focusing on the dessert at hand. “I ain’t even do nothin’ yet.” Emphasis on ‘yet’.

Scourge makes his way into the kitchen with you, leaning against the kitchen counter as he eyes your latest creation; some beignets, soon to be dusted in powdered sugar and slathered with delicious honey. “Why’re ya’ bakin’ so late?” He murmurs, obviously finding interest in your random antics at this hour, but you shrug your shoulders and empty the freshly cooked beignets away from the oil onto a plate set with a paper towel. 

Well, you were hungry. And shit, when you’re hungry, you’re gonna eat. Obviously.

He scoffs lightly, and you hear a small shuffling behind you, making you turn your head towards him.

“Y’ always doin’ somethin’ weird when yer up late." Scourge mutters, flicking his lighter repeatedly until it finally hits, and he holds a cigarette close to his mouth, lighting the end and taking a small puff in. Did he already forget about you telling him not to smoke inside so often? You pout, putting a hand on your hip as you glare at him, giving him the sort of look that screams ‘put it out’.

But he doesn’t, looking at you with a cheeky grin, and even blowing the smoke in your direction afterwards. “I ain’t forget.” Ah, great. Now you have to add mind reading to his list of tricks he can use against you. “Y’ aren’t gonna be too mad, right?”

A terrible but also good thing about Scourge is that he knows your limits. He knows to what point you’ll handle his antics, but on the opposite side of that, he knows when to tone it down. It leads to some mildly annoying situations, but nothing big enough to bitch over.

You roll your eyes, lightly dusting some powdered sugar over your fresh beignets, then quickly drizzling some honey on top. God, they look so good. The first bite is gonna-

“Lemme get one.” Scourge bumps into you, pushing you aside slightly to take a beignet off its plate. Of course he doesn’t ask for permission.

Well, you were gonna let him have one anyway, but still. Some manners would be nice, but manners are pretty much nonexistent with him.

He’s quiet for a few seconds, licking his lips briefly before going in for another bite. That’s a good sign coming from him. After being with Scourge for this long, you can almost read him like an open book.

“‘S good.” Oh. Guess he got you there. 

You tilt your head over at him, not expecting the small, genuine compliment. Usually, he’d say something slick out the side of his mouth; maybe a little joke or something. Maybe he’s feeling sweet tonight?

Scourge taps his cigarette lightly onto the kitchen counter near the sink, ash falling onto the marble as he licks some honey off his fingertips with the tip of his tongue, making another scowl form on your face. “Oops.” He says, his eyes widening slightly as he taps the rest of the ash into the sink. “My bad, babe.” Dirting your counters and everything. He notices your scowl and smirks at you, dragging his finger up his tongue, and then licking some extra honey off his lips. “What? Ya took away the ashtray.” True. It’s still lying away from Scourge’s gaze even now, hidden in your room in an attempt to get him to smoke inside less. Shame it didn’t work. Stupid idiot…

“So the chef’s not gonna take a bite of their own shit? C’mon.” He chuckles, holding up a beignet to your mouth. It’s hard to fight the smile on your face, and you take a bite of it eagerly, savoring especially the rich honey you drizzled all over the dessert, coupled with the sugar and soft beignet. Yum.

“Got something there.” Scourge grazes his thumb against your bottom lip, wiping unknown honey you had accidentally smeared there while savoring the pastry. He then meets your eyes, licking the honey off his thumb with a smug grin. “Good, yeah?”

… Idiot. He really knows how to get you going.

Suddenly, the smoke from the cigarette flows in your direction, and you wince from the smell. Eugh. You’ve never been one to smoke often at all, maybe once or twice (if the mood's right with Scourge), but other than that you’ve never been fond of it. Scourge reads your expression and his cheeky grin falters.

“Hmm?” He draws out lazily. “Somethin’ wrong?” As soon as he asks, he eyes the cigarette set in his left hand, still emitting smoke. “Oh.”

He takes another draw from it, but to your shock, he wordlessly flicks the cigarette into the sink, a short sizzling sound emitting from it as a bit of water puts it out. “All ya had to do was ask, babe.” Scourge mutters. “You know I wouldn’t keep the shit around if it really bugged ya. M’ not that much of a dickhead.” He tilts his head down, blowing the smoke down to the floor as he looks up to meet your gaze again.

… He really has changed. You struggle to push back the small smile on your face at the thought of it.

“Hmm? Whatcha’ smiling for?” For him. For the way he is today. Even if putting out his cigarette is such a small gesture; it’s progress. It’s there.

Scourge pauses at your heartfelt words, shock lining his features before he tries to shake it off, tugging you over slightly by your shirt. “C’mere, babe.” He says gently, pressing a kiss on your lips as he cups your cheek, his tongue grazing your bottom lip and tasting the mix of sweet sugar and honey in your mouth. The mixed taste of slight ash and honey fills yours, but you really don't care right now. It’s such an easy thing to ignore when he’s such a good kisser.

After what feels like forever, you two break away from each other, panting as your breath mingles with one another's. 

Fuck. He’s so sweet… Even when he tries to hide his embarrassment with a kiss.

“Lemme show ya’ a good time, honey. Bet cha’ taste just as sweet as it too…”

What are your thoughts on Infidget (the ship of Infinite and Gadget the Wolf)?

i think its fine? i dont inherently dislike it or anything, and i dont mind seeing it from time to time. the only thing that i dont like is like, a lot of the shipping community's interpretations of it. and by that i mean the people that twinkify and feminize gadget into being a little wooby baby that cant do anything without his big strong man and infinite is just the stereotypical scary-on-the-outside soft-on-the-inside masc/male/im a man/im he him boyfriend. either that or gadget is fine and its just infinite who is extremely out of character. i had a lot of "he would not fucking say that" moments with infinite when infidget was at its most popular bc these kinds of depictions were everywhere and it was really annoying

the only version of infidget ive ever shipped was a lovers to friends to enemies to... somethings type deal where they dont go back to how they used to be by the end but its not vitriolic, they just outgrew each other in their own ways during the events of forces. that or their relationship cant get mended at all and theres no closure bc infinite dies or whatever like he did in canon. and i know this is the best version of infidget bc i made it up, thanks

i actually shipped it before forces even came out bc i thought that that was sort of the route that sonic team was going to take with tying the avatar into the story. it made sense to me for the avatar (or in this case gadget) to have some sort of previous history or connection with infinite bc in my onion, that makes their dynamic a little spicier and more compelling. in my version, gadget and infinite (then zero) used to be very close until zero started getting more involved with a local gang, the jackal squad, which began to drive a wedge between them until they got more and more distant from each other. and then some more time passes and gadget hasnt heard from zero for a long time and then the events of forces start. i think part of the idea was from this dialogue that we got to hear when footage of infinites second battle came out before the game itself:

-which implied that the avatar and infinite had history. which was technically true, but it was within the timeline of the game bc it turned out he was referring to like. the flashback cutscene of the avatar being too scared to fight back the first time they ran into infinite before joining the resistance, so it wasnt what i was hoping for

another reason iirc was uhhhh whatshisface? sega scourge on youtube? they made a theory video about infinite getting his mind wiped by the ruby or something and that added fuel to the fire. its a really cool concept and while i dont think that the avatar wanting to avenge those they lost is necessarily bad, i feel like its just kind of meh for the kind of story forces was trying to tell, what with the friendship-is-cool themes and whatnot. so i thought the avatar/gadgets arc was going to be we get to find out how they and infinite (or at least just the former lol) know each other, and how infinite became infinite in the first place, and gadget wanted to both help put a stop to everything but also get his friend back through, you guessed it, the power of friendship. hooray! i read a really good fic that was like that called til we touch the sun on a03 (that fic still makes me go insane thinking about it) that went with a sidestory for gadget that was quite similar to what i just described

plus the idea of infinite and gadget having shared a past but only one of them remembers it and now has to deal with a monster that looks like who they used to be but is no longer the same in every other regard due to them going dark side (willingly or unwillingly) is super angsty. and i like my ships raw and some degree of brutal for the soul. it keeps me young

but yeah im overall neutral. tl;dr: infidget is a fine ship, i just wish it had more canon-supported flavour and i wish the majority of shippers would stop writing infinite so poorly to make him fit properly into their milquetoast domestic fluff romances, but whatever. we all get enjoyment out of different things, even if theyre wrong :3 (for safety reasons i have to disclose that the previous statement was a joke)

Hii, I read that freakishly looong (but interesting) take on Fiona

Personally, I think the major problem for her in the comics was that she wasnt really of major importance to the writers. I think the writers thought of her as interesting at first then got bored of her and she was lost to the wind.

I think thats where the problem started.

Secondly, I think the freedom fighters were also at fault. I think they forgot that not everyone has the mental capacity to be a hero. Not exactly good person but I think they expected too much of Fiona. Im not saying this in a degrading way tho. I mean, she went through a lot and they expected her to be healed already, they expected her to suddenly see them as heroes and want to be good. They forgot that not everyone has that inclination. They expected too much and I think that also got her overwhelmed.

Im not sure if this makes sense but yeah this is my take on it.

its pretty clear that bollers and penders didnt have much investment in her character at all, but also that that point she was really just a tangentially relevant side character. like i said in my post, frankly before ian gave her a corruption arc she didnt really have much to offer in the first place. you cant really fault the writers all that much because she wasnt really meant to be of major importance. when ian took the helm as main writer he clearly thought she had potential as a character and utilized that through the corruption arc. she wasnt "lost to the wind", she just became a villain and, as such, didnt need to be on the main screen all the time. archie sonic has a lot of villains and it would be honestly a bit annoying if we spent all of our time with just a handful of them - theyre great characters and should be used accordingly! yeah she took a bit of a backseat in the "scourge+fiona+ss go to mobius and get whacked for it" arc, but like. come on they were clearly setting something up here

she comes back in journey to the east and is pulling together her own gang there, and then comes back in full swing in scourge lockdown, in which they were. also. clearly setting something up

the plan according to ian is i believe that scourge & fiona were gonna have an epic breakup and she'd take the destructix in the divorce, which tracks plenty enough with the setup that was being put in place.

also, honestly im gonna have to partially disagree with you on the second point. its a complicated situation and i think youre simplifying it a bit too much. fiona willingly chose to "become a hero" - its not like they made her. she literally couldve left at any point in time to just be a normal civilian (which is... literally what mina did. nobody had an issue with it, even though mina's superspeed wouldve been a massive aid in battle. she wasnt equipped to be a hero in that way because, like you said, that kind of life really isnt for everybody).

also, the freedom fighters frankly cant be everybody's personal therapist - theyve all got so much baggage themselves and they cant even address that because theyre all in the middle of a war 😭 i dont think its that they expected too much of her - id say its much more in the direction of that they didnt even really consider what she went through or how it wouldve affected her in the first place. its less that she got overwhelmed and more that she was functionally an outsider who had no support system and no friends to stick up for her or try to really make her feel like she was one of the team - not out of malice or anything, but just because nobody really ever thought about it in the first place.

overall its just a really messy situation and while fiona made the bad choices that she did of her own volition, there were real reasons behind why she made those decisions in the first place

any crazy work stories?

The first night i worked barback it was like 1145 and we were dead and so we started preclosing and shit but literally as we started we got hit w a huge rush of dumbass frat kids who all ordered "the cheapest beer we had" or like tequila shots and wld tip like 1 dollar if we were lucky and they proceeded to just fuck around and play pool for an hour without ordering much else. And u know this isnt rly like out of the realm of possibility, its a college bar more or less and its sorta past all the bars on the main strip of the area. So ppl will filter down here at the end of the night and thats when shit can get kinda fucked and annoyingggg cuz theyre so fuckin loud and entitled and annoying as previously stated. Also it was crazy bc if u moved from the back of the bar to the front there was just a wall of fartsmell from these kids it was just so wack. I shld also mention that when i say kids theyre all over 21 and like my age and shit but theyre just like stupid and inexperienced and always make me feel like im old as fuck in comparison but u dont have 2 feel bad that im like infantilizing them or anything cuz theyre all lil rich boys and shit and im just a little worker.

So anyways the frat rush wore on and the bartender had me go around and do last call and like. I dont think kids these days rly get the concept of last call or maybe frat kids r just so fucking entitled they think theyll always get special privelege but literally these ppl will come up like 20 mins after u call last call amd be like pweeeease can i have another shot pwease and like the bartender kept sorta hedging it and not rly enforcing last call very well but whatever, it made it hard when we made our third and final last call bc all these guys thought thwy cld try some shit and when we finally didnt serve them they just got super indignant and loudly plotted our murders and sayin shit like they were gonna wait for us outside but ofc they didnt bc like at the end of the day drunk ppl say all sorts of shit they dont mean at all and like frat kids round here arent gonna follow thru on that shit. So they start filtering out.

10 minutes before we close this like group of kids in suits come down and theyre like pweeeease can wr play pool we just wanna play pool for 15 minutes we promise we wont order anything and leave after 15 mins. And in my head im like why do u think thats a selling point. And they were like we wont order anything and tip u 10 bucks if we can stay and i was like nah we're gonna close like i wanna go home and shit sorry man. And they were like well can we use ur bathroom at least and i was like sure whatever and then they started whispering shiftily and i was like ughhhh fucks sake and sure enough they go back and the bartender walks back there and theyre tryna break the damn paper towel dispenser off the wall cuz these dudes r so fuckin incensed that we wont serve them while we're trying 2 fucking heard all these kids out so we can close.

Greek life is a fucking worthless scourge and i hate serving them. But idk if id call that crazy

Uhh, as of right now.... I'm just gonna b listing names here, Tigerheartstar in a "oh no everyone will have this opinion now cuz a lot of people say the wrong things about him" but it's not genuine for me cuz I still like him, and I GUESS I get what the people are saying.... probably Scourge and Ashfur (also Mapleshade) honestly um, theyre interesting villains but the more people post their takes and opinions on them the more annoyed I get, me hearing so much about them when I first joined the fandom (and before I joined) has greatly ruined my opinion on them, it feels like they're overhyped for what they ACTUALLY get and ACTUALLY are

Hollyleaf too, I heard so much about her from the fandom and in canon she is not that interesting, yea she's interesting but not that much, she's not a collected girlboss she is a sobbing weakling get it straight Shadowsight, Ravenpaw, I can't really put my finger on why I think fandom ideas of them suck, have seen pieces of Alderheart in canon/in fandom, dont like it either Needletail probably? I don't even know what to think about her, my mind is muddy, fandom takes horrendous Ivypool definitely, Dovewing maybe - she gets less hate nowadays though maybe hopefully I really hope so Probably Nightcloud too she's a little mean in canon books, but SOME people paint her out like shes the devil leave her alone, crowfeather is the bad one and sucks

Dawnpelt and Flametail (I <3 this family) in two different ways, good for Dawnpelt for accussing Jayfeather, its not that I dont like him I kinda kin him but I would do the same and tbh deserved big L, however fandom really sees her as horrifying and bad and thats not true and then theres Flametail who is a stinker canonically but people try to paint him as a soft boi or whatever, he is not, he is stinky, judgemental and mentally a kitten while being like 20 years old in human also fuck. Rowanclaw also I didn't realize it before but hes kinda rude, fandom doesnt think so tho the only cat from the RowanTawny family who is seen (the most) accurately in fandom is Tawnypelt u go Kween

Fiona cheating on him with his anti didnt make Sonic angry..

Fiona actively lying to him didnt piss him off, maybe annoyed him..but it didnt piss him off.

What did piss him off however was how she antagonized Amy and Tails, and how she seemed to preen at the slightest attention Scourge gave her..because she wanted someone to protect her..someone to care about her, he didnt know..and what set him off was how she slapped Tails away, mocked him for crying and all to impress his anti! 

"What the hell Fiona!?" 

Sonic snapped, though this just caused the vixen to roll her eyes before she looked at him..god her attitude was grating his nerves,

"What?" She mused as if she didnt just slap his best friend for no reason,

That ..that made him scowl, and without warning he moved- he wanted to actually..throw her, her attitude annoyed him, her disregard for his friends pissed him off- he hadnt accounted for Scourge actually protecting her, as when he moved..so did the green hedgehog and before he could touch Fiona a fist crushed into his cheek causing him to let out a sharp grunt and lose his footing for a brief minute, instantly turning his attention towards Scourge..he still had that same sleazy smile..taunting. 

"Bad move, blue." 

Scourge drawled out, and Sonic just clicked his tongue watching as Scourge slowly paced around him..hes been itching to fight him for who knows how long..that much Sonic knew, but Sonic just hummed,

"Oh so you can help other people besides yourself, I was beginning to worry you had no redeeming qualities!" He stated sounding visibly amused, 

Scourge just scoffed lowly, "Please, thats not a redeemin quality, raise your standards." He sneered, and without warning he ran forward..and the fight began.

Amy had since charged at Fiona but Sonic could barely focus on that as Scourge kept matching him blow for blow..only thing was Scourge was a lot more violent..a lot more aggressive.

It wasnt everyday Sonic worked up a sweat fighting an opponent as not many people matched his speed..Shadow and Metal were the only ones..now Scourge had been added to that list of people that seem to want to kill him for no reason.

"Jeez its hard to believe someone so bitter could be me, like damn dude, did your favorite jacket get discontinued?" 

Even during this fight Sonic didnt stop being taunting, as he landed on top of a rock- narrowly avoiding being kicked into a tree, watching as Scourge turned towards him, his eyes were surprisingly still shielded by his shades but Sonic could still feel him glaring at him, 

Scourge moved again and this time he successfully swiped Sonics legs from underneath him and when Sonic fell the blue hedgehog instinctively moved to the side as Scourges fist came crashing into the floor were his head had previously been,

"Lets see you keep makin jokes when I break your fuckin legs." Scourge hissed- despite his words he sounded delighted by the thought, pleased with the thought of hurting him and hes use to this from Shadow and Metal, they were both assholes who worked with Eggman on their worst days and they just genuinely didnt like him that much but Scourge? Theyve only met three times before this and he didnt remember antagonizing the male enough to make him want to hurt him that much-

Scourge charged forward once more and Sonic quickly moved to the side, arm pulling back before he crashed his fist into the side of Scourges face as he had done to him earlier..knocking the shades from his face which caused his anti to pause briefly, glancing down at the shades for a millisecond as they landed on the floor, cracked and lopsided.

That millisecond was soon forgotten as Scourge retaliated..his body moved lower and his leg rose before he kicked Sonic straight in the chest causing the male to grunt, stumbling back at the force but the kick wasnt enough as Scourge had soon punched him in the stomach,

Sonic stated quickly, jumping out of the way from Scourge once more as the male just growled,

"Im not takin shit from someone who thinks 'Way past cool' is a thing people actually say!" Scourge retorted, 

"Hey people said it before!" 

"No ones ever said that shit before!" 

It went on like this for what seemed like a few minutes with both of them arguing with each other, Sonic just wanted to see exactly why Scourge was going out of his way to hurt him- even trying to actually break his leg if he was given the chance..the rage was so weird..he knew antis were different but he didnt expect his anti to be so..angry,  so violent- his anti seemed more like a very verbal Shadow with the way he kept attacking him, 

"Ya know being an asshole isnt as rewarding as ya think it is right?" 

Sonic questioned- grunting when he got into a tree, thankfully avoiding Amy as she chased Fiona around still, she had tried to help but Fiona kept distracting her.

"Pfft, its more rewardin than wastin my time saving a buncha useless dicks who dont deserve it!" Scourge replied, sounding amused by the sheer thought of saving someone else...Sonic couldnt imagine not wanting to save people..yeah sometimes he thought some people didnt deserve it but still, 

"Youre still a Sonic! Still me- you should want to at least try and help people!"

"Why? Cuz thats what you do?" 

Scourge just laughed and without warning he moved forward..punched him in the stomach, then his chest- he didnt wait for a retaliation as he kicked him into a tree, he found with the purpose to bruise and scar while Sonic fought to distance and distract-

His head spun for a split moment, the wind knocked out of him, 

"You dont get it! Rulin people with fear and hate, is soo much better than tryna be some glorified saint!" 

Scourge stated, his eyes were blazing..the rage was back..he looked nothing like him right now..something was off, Sonic didn't like how unhinged he was,  how cruel- 

"That isnt true, and it never will be."

Sonic declared and Scourge just sneered at him, laughing, fist pulling back as Sonic quickly moved from his spot, his knuckles slammed into bark instead of Sonics nose,

"When you finally realize not everyone deserves to be saved, when you see how much more freein it is to be above people than to depend on them- you'll be like me, all it takes is one bad day, one bad situation and you'll see that." Scourge hummed out, side stepping as Sonic went to kick him, only to have his leg grabbed and he was forcefully thrown down, causing him to grunt lowly, and without warning Scourge stepped on his chest, Sonic could only stare at him for a brief moment before he just grinned- 

"Thats where your wrong dude, a bad day doesnt just make someone a villain..but a good day? A good day could change a lot, all it takes is someone showing you an ounce of kindness, someone showin you the love you never got and you'll be like me, a good person..maybe even a hero." He stated, grinning.

He expected another mocking laugh instantly, expecting Scourges foot to press down but for a brief minute..the green hedgehog paused, eyes widening ever so slightly, and for that minute Sonic was sure he got to him..he knew deep down Scourge wasnt evil, he could just show him he didnt have to be like this, he could help him..he didnt know anything about his anti besides the fact something was severely wrong with his mental state and he took too much enjoyment in hurting him but he knew he wasnt evil.

Then.. the green hedgehog just smiled, his expression hardening as if it hadnt changed in the first place, 

"How naive." 

He sneered and that slowly shattered Sonics hopes of getting through to him..he just dismissed his words-

"Not naive..hopeful." Sonic retorted, moving his arm to grab his ankle but his foot had moved towards his neck and Sonic jolted- the malice in his eyes was so..floundering..he could never imagine that look on his own face.

"Same thing." Scourge stated dismissively, and Sonic didnt get the chance to reply as a blur of yellow and brown crashed into Scourge, pushing the older teen to the ground successfully allowing Sonic to sit up instantly,

"Get away from him you bully!" Tails screamed, Sonic heard Scourge cursing and soon Tails was thrown back, causing Sonic to quickly move to catch him.

"Thanks bud." Sonic murmured, staring at Scourge who just fixed his jacket- appearing inconvenienced as Fiona neatly landing besides him as Amy ran up next to Sonic, "Stop running you coward!" The pink hedgehog hissed, Scourge just plucked out a warp ring from his jacket, just smiling at Sonic.. His smile was so..mean looking, it was too sharp..too fake,

"Til next time blue."  

Was all Scourge said in a sing song like voice as he let Fiona into the portal first and he followed quickly after just as Amy chucked her hammer in their direction, who she was aiming at specifically he had no clue.

"Dammit! Stupid! Assholes, ugh!" Amy screamed, storming over to snatch her hammer up,

"Theyre such bullies! Why did I even like her!" Tails exclaimed, Sonic just frowned before he sighed quietly, glancing from Amy to Tails. 

"Lets just go, theyre gone now, might as well enjoy the peace." He stated with a simple shrug, giving them a small smile, the smile made Amy visibly melt while it comforted Tails slightly, the young pink hedgehog was at his side instantly, clutching his arm- which he allowed for the time being while Tails was a little slower to approach him, still dejected.

He knew his anti despised him but he'll never get the reason why, and unfortunately..Scourge was too far gone to talk down from whatever path he was taking..the friendly route was no longer an option.

this part would've been a lot more poignant if tigerstar had ever been even remotely likeable or relatable

I can't seem to read ANYTHING fiction rn that isn't DW, DW adjacent, or scifi that's been on my to read list forever BUT. Hypothetically if I am ever capable of reading anything else ever again, what's the best reading order for WC for people who were too busy rereading Percy Jackson for the 87th time to read it before. Most skippable books? Least skippable books? Will cat Ianto be enough to convince my brain that WC is DW adjacent?

first of all. yes cat ianto DOES mean wc is dw adjacent and i will die on this hill <3

anyways i would definitely start with the prophecies begin arc aka start with into the wild. i feel like all 6 books in that arc are super important for world building and understanding how clans work etc etc. the authors still didnt really know what they were going for when they wrote this arc and it makes it? better? in a weird way? also it has two of the coolest and funkiest villains in the entire series (being scourge and brokenstar)

(anything below this point is just me rambling LMFAO sorry i didnt realize how much i typed)

the second arc (the new prophecy) is kind of boring and sucks and like. yes it has very important and permanent plot stuff in it but the only book thats rly good that i remember is sunset...

the third arc (power of three) fucks ummm like every book is good i think. characters are cool the story is fun and it makes me want to eat concrete like every good book series should

the fourth arc (omen of the stars) every book is good except sign of the moon which made me stop my reread originally because its literally so fucking boring

the fifth arc (a vision of shadows) is ok..........the villains kinda make it worth it but kind of not ? shattered sky is really really good but the rest of it is kind of forgettable.....

the sixth arc (the broken code) is ongoing. however so far it is definitely my second favorite arc and its fucking insane!!!!!! really good writing compared to some of the other books imo!!!!!!!

the dawn of the clans arc is the Best and most well written arc imo!!!!!! i definitely wouldnt start with it but its kind of like a prequel for the whole series. like shows where all the clans came from etc etc and thats where clear sky is from!!! unfortunately the least likeable character is in fact the main protagonist (hes kind of just ...... boring and annoying hsdfbdshfsbd) but i think the plot and rest of the characters make up for it!!!

the super editions are very hit or miss. same w/ the novellas. here r my recommendations

good super editions: bluestar's prophecy, crookedstar's promise, tallstar's revenge, HAWKWING'S JOURNEY (this one explains a lot of whats going on in the fifth arc and imo is like.....way more fun to read than that whole arc HGDBGH),

Accidental Family Man Au

remember that one ask where I talked about some projects? This is one of them. Enjoy dad franky!

So it begins with Franky – a back alley repair in the illustrious mechanic city of Water 7 – a miracle engineering city, they call it, with intertwining roads of cars and rivers. Venice, if Venice was made of concrete and had a road system above its water system, twisting above houses and everything.

Franky used to be one of those engineers that created those miracles, but an accident later, and he’s the scourge of the city and half bionic, making his living in back alley repair shops where you either pay with cash or your life.

He never said he was a good guy, did he Ice Burg?

 He still has connections though – and these connections lead to Iceburg, and to the Straw Hats.

 Iceburg’s the mayor, of course, and while he doesn’t care much for his public image, he knows that if he starts accepting money from shady kids who showed up to his doorstep possibly covered in blood with a woman who he swears he’s seen before beside him, that maybe Water 7’s people will take a hit for harboring criminals.

But hey, He knows a guy already doesn’t he?

So he sends these kids and their broken van down to the Franky House to see if he would fix their beloved, broken, van.

The Straw Hats never reach it, because the woman (Robin) gets kidnapped and a fight breaks out, leading to the separation of the group,

So the story really begins with Franky and the little broken down RV called The Going Merry, previously belonging to the kid who’s standing in front of him, begging him to fix it.

That kid is Usopp, and he’s asking because Franky’s the only repair man in the illustrious city of Water 7 that will possibly accept the cash that Usopp has to offer.

He doesn’t.

Instead, he attempts to kick the kid out and gets kidnapped in return.

 So, Franky’s introduced to Ennies Lobby one of the worst places this side of the country – where people go and never come back, and hey, whats this kid doing kicking down the door?

Safe to say, Franky is rescued, and learns a little more of their story.

And Safe to say, Franky sees the woman they are going to save (him, and a bunch of teenagers and some 12 year old brat) and he near damn falls in love with her on sight and definitely does when he actually talks to her.

They save Robin, and start running – of course, Merry the van is just barely struggling to save all their added weight but they make it but also merry’s totaled.

So Franky shows them his pet project, The Thousand Sunny, supposed to be his super get away, home a way from home rv but with a few modifcations… the Straw Hat Gang has a new home. And a new crew member.

Franky learns everyone’s stories and about all the absolutely shady shit they are into. He learns he fits right in.

 And then… then the moments start happening.

He helps Usopp fix up the Sunny, and teachers him about cars and such. 

He and Chopper start bonding over bionics and medical shit that went into building his body. 

Zoro and him geek out over comic heroes (this, at least in zoro’s part, is canon the big nerd.) 

He helps Nami out with some headings and listens to her troubles. 

Sanji and him go fishing one day and it’s the most surreal experience of Franky’s life because this teen is in a three-piece suit and catching giant fish out on the shore of some lake? What? 

Franky gives Luffy advice and pulls him out of fights and shows him cool robot things.

 And its two months in when Franky realizes – here is it actually typed out lmao

“In all honesty, Franky doesn’t know how it happens.

Well.

He has a vague idea.

(Can you save her? Please? Merry’s the best.)

But still – tracing the events that led up to him frantically calling Ice-for-brains at one am in the morning at a near abandoned gas station on the west coast was a hard task.

“Hello?”

Finally.

“Ice-for-brains,” He starts using the familiar name.

“Flunky? The hell? What are you calling me now?”

“Iceberg.” The use of his real name quiets him. He knows this is serious. Franky takes a deep breath, and exhales, saying the next words in a single breath. “I accidently became a dad to six crazy teenagers. Help.”

…

“Goddamnit bastard-berg this is no time to laugh!””

AND THEN HE GOES ON TO HAVE MORE DAD ADVENTURES INCLUDING:

Organizing the kids at Sabaody Park

being emotional support for all these kids trauma please world, give them a break

doing his best to say no to allowing luffy to swim with sharks but giving in anyway

being a component (aka fierce menacing bodyguard) in his daughter’s nami’s schemes

breaking up fights

 Attempting to ground known criminals who may or may not be stronger than him

Modifying the RV so that they can have Brook and Jimbe on it as well

“MCDONALDS! MCDONALDS! MCDONALDS!”

Overthrowing the government in at least three different countries because his kids wanted to

Doing experiments with illegal fireworks on Usopp’s behest

“Do you want to play catch” “Franky that’s dynamite that we found in the stach what the fuck- “Do you want to play catch” “…Yes.”

Explaining Safe Sex to teenagers who have biggers worries such as the government

Teaching them all how to drive. He thinks hius heart has popped out of his chest.

Snoring loudly on their tiny couch and everyone just dogpiling on him

So that’s a thing that’s going to happen!

Uh anyway uh PART TWO – THE OTHER FCKING STRAWHATS

Note: Everyone is aged down three years from pre TS ages  to enforce the fact that 1) the government is fucking nuts for assigning bounties to these kids in this au 2) give more dad moments as while we all need a dad in our lives at any age it gives me more plausible reason here 3) plot related issues and the fact that this story takes place over several years and 4) the image of a 14 year old taking down the government is hilarious to me.

So.

Moving on.

Luffy – 14 years old and an absolute bastard

Luffy grew up in the port city of Fuusha as a way for Garp to keep an eye on him because of his family connections and make sure nothing bad happened to him -  didn’t quite work out.

dads a terrorist, his brothers a world class criminal, his gramps is an abusive piece of shit but also weirdly protective marine officer, his family’s complicated. 

 he grew up in the seedy underbelly of the city and made friends with a lot of criminals (who helped him get out because hey that five year old who used to steal our food is a brat and maybe we should help him get out before he becomes to chaotic (too late) and becomes our friend (also too late) )

Among these criminals are Shanks, who wanders through once in a while, Buggy, begrudging friend,  Jimbe, because he has connections, Crocodile, because this brats a bastard, and Rayleigh, among others.

Annoys them to make him his friend, continues annoying them afterwards.

 He just thinks they’re neat.

Luffy leaves two months after Ace, his brother under Dadan’s, the local gang leaders, roof, leaves because Ace can’t tell him to stay behind anymore

but the govt got word now he’s on the run – Coby helps him escape

As such, Luffy grows up with a very very skewed moral compass as in canon but a bit more, and now literally is almost ten times more feral as he should be.

  His goal is now to do whatever he wants, without people telling him what to do or that he can’t do that – He’s going to be free, damnit.

Franky understands and learns over time to adjust his Parenting Skills accordingly

Zoro – 16 and illegally owning a motorcycle because he thought the best way to improve his skill was to go out and hunt down people to fight, and of course he needs a motorcycle to do that, doesn’t he?

 He was pulled over for speeding then taken in for being underage

 He is also caught up in some bad stuff (fight circles, bounty’s, etc. this kids 16 and breaking grown men’s spines.)

Then comes Luffy who was also arrested for dine and dashing and is in the back seat.

 Luffy, who after the police car pulls over, punches out the police officer, unlocks Zoros cuffs and tells him “Drive”

 So they drive

“Hey, hey Zoro. Join my crew. It’ll be fun.”

 “Anything you say captain”

 knows Luffy for three seconds and is immediately down to murder with him

 Its great

He wants to become the greatest sword fighter still, which is still a thing in my fantasy modern world, so anyway, picture this 16 year old going up to you and tell you to fight but he has a sword in his mouth and in both hands and the most dangerous look in his eye.

 He and Luffy immediately rob a sword shop to find him new swords after they meet, it becomes a thing later on where they will steal (horribly, they literally crash in through the window every time because they have no subtly) something small from each city they visit. 

Nami - 15 year old pick pocket in the city where luffy and zoro stop, just trying to scrap up some money to pay off her family’s debt.

 Bellmere’s still alive damnit.

Nami thought Zoro and Luffy were police originally (because they are driving around in stolen police car) and tried to pull the ‘oh officer help me’ card when the people she stole from chased after her

 To her surprise, it was two kids her age in the front seat.

Luffy: “get in”

 she gets in

they dont talk about it

The people who were chasing her was Buggy’s gang who Luffy waves at as he goes by

 Buggy sends a message to Shanks which is essentially “hey that brat u liked is still alive”

And Shanks is like “oh thank god” not knowing the terror he has unleashed upon the world

A month later Arlong has mysteriously disappeared and the Bell-mere farm is flourishing while the second daughter becomes a world class criminal.

 Bell’meres never been prouder and it gives Nojiko a great conversation starter.

Usopp’s 14 and lives in a trailer park called syrup alone

Has a business where he sells odd herbs and such, passing them off as anything that will get him some money – think of it as Toad Oil from Wano but with some popgreens and such mixed in.

His goal is get enough money to stand on his own and leave the park but its slow going. And then…

 Luffy punches the heck outta the creep that was creeping on the owner of the park, kaya, and think’s Usopp’s stories are super cool.

Usopp wants to go with them, to explore the world With Luffy.

At this point, the Straw Hats have realized that driving a stolen police car around is a bad idea

so they take the huge van - a gift from Kaya named The Going Merry, and set off, using Nami’s stolen funds to get them by.

Sanji - 16 year old who longs to be a chef with the best food and just wants to feed people who need it

He hates government cause they don’t feed people and has a lot of petty grudges and helps Zeff run a lot of kitchens to help people.

 He’s still the Sous chef of the Baratie and still has a penchant for kicking unruly customers around. Baratie has a less then stellar reputation for service but the food? The best in the land.

 He feeds Luffy the food.

  Luffy likes the food.

Luffy kidnaps Sanji

Zeff worries about it but he can’t do jack since he actually is not Sanjis legal guardian (he kidnapped the kid first on accident after they both were stranded. He still tries to call anyway, and is proud of the change his son is making in the world. He’s currently working to get suspicious government people off his back about his missing Sous chef with the unique curly eyebrow…

Anyway, Sanji becomes the cook for the strawhats and is really happy because everyone likes his food and he can help anyone along the way and send business to the baratie

Its a good deal for him, and with all the places he visits his skill grows as a chef.

Chopper - 12 year old prodigy who really wants to be a doctor but both his legal guardians are out of the way

Hiruluks dead and Kureha, against her will because she’s still beautiful at 100 dammnit, is in a nursing home trying to break out

 Chopper has nowhere to go but still tries to pursue his medical career, and this fucking twelve year old does so by patching up people from bar and gang fights.

The Straw Hats pick him up and Usopp hacks into a govt control thing to sign him up for online medical course

Kureha’s proud and gives him a book of pressed cherry blossoms that was Hiruluk’s

  He cries

Chopper gets lots of practice for medical stuff with Luffy and Zoro who like to fight in fighting rings just for the heck of it, and for the money that Nami wants.

Robin – 25 year old depressed archeologist (and assassin) they found in a mafia in the next country over (Vivi’s)

Crocodile’s running it, aka Luffy’s criminal uncle number 500

 Luffy’s pissed about it and smacks him into the dust because it’s his friends country, and then drags Robin along because she needs to have some adventure, and hey, they are checking out the ruin’s next, wont that be cool?

 So robin comes along as the ‘adult super vision’, at least in Nami and Usopp and Chopper’s mind.

She learns that these kids have some how been able to dodge school, and starts teaching them the basics of what they would need to know, and then any thing else they want to know. (Zoro, she finds, is extremely good at math while Sanji enjoys chemistry. Nami and Usopp catch on quick, while Chopper has his own studies already but enjoys talking to her. Luffy dislikes learning, but if the promise of pirates or foods or letters that wont spin in his head is involved, he’ll gladly sit down for a bit. He especially loves the stories however.)

Robin finds herself inching dangerously into mom territory, and accepts it whole heartedly after meeting Franky, who she finds handsomely hilarious.

She has a shady past but is slowly opening up about it, and knows she will watch the world burn for this crew.

Y’all know about Franky already so im gonna move on.

Brook – super fucking Old musician they found on the street looking for his dog Laboon

 He used to be a star but lost his fame but doesn’t care – he  only wants to make people happy with his music.

Luffy just straight up just drags him into the sunny, its becoming a habit of him kidnapping people, that’s not how you make friends Luffy (or at least it shouldn’t be – he always seems to make it work.)

 Everyone just goes with it at this point while Franky sighs and triie sto figure out how to make a giant RV even bigger

The Crew find out his dog is living in luffy’s home town and used to play with Luffy when his friends weren’t around. They vow to go back once everything dies down, but in the mean time Dadan gets a new guard dog in her house hold

Usopp posts one (1) video of Brook (on Halloween in skeleton make up) and he instantly becomes a revived star, thriving on the mytery of the Skeleton Soul King.

He now posts videos from around the world of him singing but its impossible to predict where he will be next, and he’s invisible with out his make up to the internet, so its good for the whole criminal thing.

Jimbe

(best) Criminal uncle 501

 No one knows exactly how he knows luffy beyond luffy himself but they are 90% sure its something to do with the underground warlord system that Luffy has connections too

 He gives the best hugs, Uncle Iroh but without the well-meaning manipulation.

 He’s tired of responsibility that he has in his underground position and kinda wants to fuck off to the Caribbean but then he meets luffy again and is like this is better

He Leaves the fishman gang behind with subordinate in charge and joins strawhats

He becomes stressed - “Why did you choose an archeologist and a man who wears speedos for adult supervision, how are you alive, do you need a hug, do you know basic math, have you even gone to school, oh thank god Robin is here - ”

Two minutes later

“Do you have code names, can I have one,”

 He’s a big faker the dummy everyone can see right through you, you’re aren’t on this crew if you have common sense

Between dad moments, essentially its just the Straw hats breaking in and causing havoc where ever they go, building their bounties and being a found family.

Hi! I know that a bit ago i started a debate on appledusk when i posted my opinion about him and it got really popular so here is more opinions.

i know what you might be thinking. tigerstar is evil and therefor he must be bad right? no. i believe that tigerstar was not as bad as he seems, let me explain.

tigerstar was born in a world of misery, his father pinestar left him to become a kittypet like an idiot. and his mother leopardfoot was very weak and was barely there. tigerstar was so alone and felt weak among his clan so no wonder he wanted to be stronger. he trained with mapleshade in the dark forest because he wanted to be strong like her. when he was given thistleclaw as a mentor he was so happy because thistleclaw was such an amazing warrior at the time so it was obvious that he would be trained right. dont get me wrong, i love bluestar but sometimes she can be a bit annoying, tigerstar was attacking tiny/scourge because he wanted to prove to his mentor that he was worth something and he could actually be the strongest warrior in thunderclan. once he got older he obviously was super strong and wanted to prove himself and be leader like every other warrior wanted to. he worked so hard for what he got and if that meant killing cats, it was worth it. you might think im crazy but listen, to him, killing cats got him closer to his goal of becoming leader, which meant he could rule over the clan  that his father never got to. when he was killed by scourge because of some dumb thing that happened when he was A KITTEN is shocking, tigerstar was just trying to prove himself to his mentor, thats it. thats my opinion and i hope you respect that, next time maybe think about a character before judging them on bad or good.

Those stuck up losers. I cant see why they follow him, what do they get out of it? Yelled at constantly? Pssh. They are all annoying as hell and probably dislike me cause of how little loyalty I have an for how little I do. Ive heard the tall purple one actually tries to help Galvatron be better. What a dumbass.

I dunno much about him, opinion on him varies alot so I cant really give anything concrete as I didnt really know him that well, I met him before the whole going missing fiasco but I never had a proper conversation with him. I dont like him that much though, cause I was told he was a jackass, though my source isnt always reliable.

Galvatron 0/10

Hes the worst, I hate him so much. Hes my current boss, and hes always threatening me for slacking off or for even just getting on his nerves. Hes so unpredictable, Im always feeling like hes gonna shoot me if I even so much as say something wrong. I hope he gets what he deserves soon, but thats pretty unlikely seeing how he deal with Starscream.

Starscream 5/10

I wouldnt call us friends, but we used to talk alot. After some crazy things happened hed call me up and blabber all about it, it always sounded so nonsensical and untrue, but Id go around asking and turns out it was. Wed gossip alot about bots we hate too, that was fun. I miss him, now everything around heres boring and quiet and everyone around heres always either a jackass or sad, theres no one quiet as amusing or talkative as him.

All of this could be resolved peacefully if we had some legit alone time and legit patience with one another enough to have a resolution focused heart-to-heart chat.

I say alone time because a. he rarely let himself be alone around me without the others. b. he doesnt like what i have to say [out loud] but my inner voice he can hear as if its clear as day to him [fucking telepath!] c. it kind of seems like we dont know each other as we think we do but considering we drive one another crazy it makes sense that our ability to communicate properly falls through the cracks.

Anyway, theres no resolution now, and there may never be one for all I know.

He loves being as cryptic as he can possibly achieve and play facial expression and contradictory behavior charades, all the while going off on me completely without warning, so that trying to understand where hes coming from is like walking on eggshells, but if I stay an effective mute, he can ignore me and wont even consider flying off the handle at me.

Maybe my voice is just literally like nails on a chalkboard to him? No one else has aid my voice is annoying, and I was popular before I allowed myself to be influenced by his manic panic attitude. I dated dudes I was attracted to and I had more friends than I knew what to do with.

I guess its proof enough that I can be happy without him!

Skyclan Reborn: Chapter 1- So that’s what dreams are made of...

He knew it was a dream because the colors were wrong…. And also he could fly. The sky, which at this point in the summer should have been dulled slightly by the intense sunlight and dry heat, was instead the vibrant cobalt of a winter morning. The grass was green as if it had just sprouted, and flowers from all four Seasons mingled oddly.

But Sky cared less about that. He was more  interested in the fluffy tailed squirrel nibbling on a nut a few tails away. In the bright sun and complete lack of cover, Sky would have been spotted many moments before, but this was a dream, and he was in charge.

With a quick wiggle to build up some momentum, the tom leaped. He landed empty-pawed and face to face with an apparition. Sky had heard the term ghost before, from the cats who hung around the graveyard, but this thing wasn't exactly what they had described. It was translucent, like the heat waves off the pavement during high noon, vaguely cat-like in shape. It's eyes however were clear, bright yellow.

“Greetings Sky.”

The white and grey tom sighed. “Oh come on…. Again?” It was a recurring dream, one he suspected was due to whatever prey he ate or activities he did before going to sleep. He found it annoying but bearable. After it said it's fill it usually just dissipated. But this time, It seemed more urgent.

The thing did not respond to his comment but continued to speak, almost hurriedly.

“You are destined for great things. You, descendant of Cloudstar, must rebuild and remake the fifth clan. Without you the four cannot survive leafbare.”

Sky snorted. “Yeah sure, thats not cryptic at all.”

The comment seemed to agitate it, and for the first time in all the iterations of the dream, it began to move. Every time Sky had seen it, it had been stationary, never moving, he had assumed it could not.  Although it appeared to walk as a normal cat, in reality the  thing never touched the ground, but instead glided a whiskers length above it, and moved through the grasses like a quiet breeze. It was unnerving, and Sky arched and  backed up on instinct. But as soon as he moved, the creature accelerated. Sky turned tail and bolted, eyes wild with fear and ears pressed to his head, but he could feel the heavy presence of the creature just behind him, wailing.

“The clans! You must save the clans! Only you can--”

Sky woke with a startled yelp to a stinging pain on his rump. Although it was late at night the constant twilight of the city streets crept into the little hollow in which he slept. He blinked at his tortoiseshell mate, whose claws were still lightly embedded in his skin. She pulled them out and gave her paw a casual lick.

“What was that for?” he whined. Shiloh was a more than capable she cat, but also brutally practical.

Her ears swiveled sideways in annoyance.

“You kicked me in the gut in your sleep. You could have hurt the kits…. Thankfully you did not.”

The tom started, blue eyes widening with a moment of concern. He had almost hurt his kits? A prickle of embarrassment tugged at him as he watched his mate’s wary face. She probably wondered if it had been deliberate. Many toms had been known to fall to their inner voices, which whispered for them to kill kits. But it rarely happened with a tom’s own kits, at least not intentionally. But seeing her wary stance, Sky's ears wilted slightly and he glanced at her sheepishly. “Sorry. I was dreaming about the thing again, the uhh spirit. It was telling me about the clans.”

The she-cat sighed. Her attention diverted.“Did you eat squirrel again?”

“.....Maybe?”

She rolled her eyes. This was not the first or even the fifth time this same conversation, or well, a similar one, had played out between them.“Sky, you know what those do to you,” she said, exasperated. “I don't understand why you keep eating those things. I'm almost certain the forest squirrels eat weird mushrooms.”

“I know, Shiloh…. I’m sorry.”  He shuffled closer to her and gave her an apologetic lick to her brindled ear.

Her body relaxed and she smiled at him ,murmuring as he began to groom her more thoroughly. “The little ones are fine,  although they are  excited now, moving and twisting around.” Shiloh gave a short gasp. “Oof. We have at least one strong kit, I'll bet they will out eat the both us.”

Sky paused in his grooming to look over her body, which had filled out from both the kits and his efforts of steady hunting. She was so beautiful, and he wondered daily how he had managed to ever catch her eye. “How long?” he asked.

She looked thoughtful for a moment before answering. “About half a moon. We will need to start looking for a nest soon.”

Sky nodded and resumed his task of bringing both his mate's and his own fur to a shiny cleanliness.

“You know,” Shiloh murmured a few moments later, “ The clan thing isn't a bad idea.”

The tom paused halfway through a lick, his tongue still halfway out his mouth. He pulled it back in before he said, “Wait… what?”

“I said,” the she cat enunciated very slowly, “That the clan thing was a good idea. Honestly, even though I don't necessarily believe in spirits or omens or whatever you would call that thing, I do believe that one's innermost desires make themselves clear. You keep having the same dream, over and over, and I think that means you really want it.”

Sky nodded. “I suppose so,” he said, “But that would be a lot of work, especially for a heavily pregnant she-cat.”

Shiloh flicked him him with her tail. “Oh please, if anything you've said and the rumors I've heard are half true, a clan would be safer for me and the kits. No having to constantly worry about disputes over food, or someone finding the nest while I'm out, or a rogue Tom coming through. We would be safe, surrounded by cats we trusted, and we could raise our kits in relative peace. If we can figure out that supposed code that they go by, we can make a name for ourselves as…. As a safe place for cats.”

As his mate spoke, Sky became increasingly excited. She was right of course. The possibilities, the benefits of safety in numbers were obvious. But he knew there were concerns he would have to anticipate and his excitement dampened a bit. “I'm not so sure that other cats would go along with it. It has barely been a cycle since Scourge and his nasty gang fell, and for most cats, he and his group are the only example of a united front and a ‘Blood Clan.’  I dont think demanding prey gifts for protection or stealing young kits is what we want everyone associating with our group.”

“Well, we will just have to go about differently.” Shiloh said. “Besides it's not like everyone believed Scourge and his group were legitimate. There are still stories of the other clans around and plenty of cats who feel vulnerable enough they would be interested. Probably even enough kittypets who would be drawn by the excitement of living like their ancestors.” She said the last sentence with a sarcastic bite. Most cats knew kittypets were naive, some bordering on childish, because all they had ever known was fullness and contentedness. Though there were always exceptions, but many of those disliked being called kittypets for those reasons.

But Sky wasn't paying attention to that, instead he was thinking through everything that needed to be done, how he could do it. “Okay,” he said with with a sly smile and a flash of teeth,” First we need a base of operations, then we need to figure out how we are going to recruit and what we are going to tell other cats. Especially cause of all the weird different rumors about the clans. So like, what the rules are and how to join and what training cats need.”

Shiloh nodded along with a quiet little smile as he listed each thing.

Sky rattled on. “Then we need to figure out who we are going to recruit. What are our standards? We don't want any who are too violent or untrustworthy. Should we recruit a bunch of younger cats? But then we'd have to train them….” He continued until he realized Shiloh was asleep, and then stopped, nuzzling back into position and falling asleep curled around her.
