fuck it - my teen wolf movie fix-it

i literally just did this all day bcs of how much the movie pissed me off - this is legit just everything I would've done different if I was the one making the damn movie (written in bullet points (bcs im lazy) under the cut)

PRE MOVIE STUFF

Aight so first off, Eli (named after Derek's dear old dad) was the result of a one-stand (pre-Braeden bcs he ain’t a cheater)

Derek doesnt even know he exists till Melissa calls him to the hospital (he still w Braeden for now) but babymama got in a crash and the kid’s there- DNA test says he the babydaddy but Braeden ain’t about that,, like she respects it but she ain’t ready to settle down in a nuclear family typa situation and he ain’t holding it against her neither so it’s like an amicable parting yk? And there begins the tale of single dad!Derek (like this is right at the end of the show or wtv bcs the timeline gives me a headache)

Now if he wants to keep shit in the clear regarding the FBI when it comes to Eli’s life so he calls Stiles, Cora and Peter to form a plan to handle that shit

The only thing they come up with is kinda turning him in (Peter is not fan but o well)

They go the old Hale house w the Sheriff and Argent and call the FBI, not long enough to trace the call but long enough to give his message: one person, anyone they want, at that location and they can wear a tracker, a wire, wtv but they sit down and listen bcs he ain’t going into custody for something he didn’t do

At first the FBI wants to send Stiles but he’s just like ‘uh,,, conflict of interest?’ bcs they went to school together even if they weren’t in the same grade (but also bcs they’d somehow have to pretend they don’t know each other and that’s just messy) so they send Rafael (Scott’s dad) instead bcs he’s the official liaison with the sheriffs

So he pops up and he’s gets them to explain the situation like they barely know the man bcs they probably don’t before ‘Scott’s dad’ but obviously without werewolves and hunters

Argent’s there as a character witness bcs yes Kate was that batshit + she legit groomed Derek when he was in highschool (15-16 and traumatised vs 20-21 and actively seeking to harm him and his family)

Plus no one even knew Cora was still alive but that was bcs she didn’t want Kate trying it again so the FBI leaves that be and she goes back to South America bcs Beacon Hills shit is just way too much

So they drop the charges against him and move their attention to Kate (no one knows if she’s alive or dead or what but who cares)

LATER

Nah he did not weirdly traumatise his kid while saving him only for it to be fine and dandy when Scott roars in his face

See they live in the woods and w the scent of shifters, especially Malia (a werecoyote), keeps the actual coyotes away

He’s just a slow developer bcs he’s half human and he’s worried all the time about whether he’ll ever shift bcs he might not yk

Liam did not move to Japan

The pack just gave the box to a kitsune community (they don’t really have packs but they do have families and communities in that sense) that Yukimura Noshiko told them about bcs kitsune can handle nogitsune a whole lot better than wolves

Instead of the random ass Liam x Hikari thing, they’re friends - he ain’t the emissary but he’s still the one making the trips on the behalf of the McCall Pack + he learns Japanese bcs that’s like one of the only parts of canon that ain’t too bad

Ykw Theo goes w him bcs he has literally nothing in Beacon Hills and he’s still tryna prove himself to the pack bcs ~guilt complex~ and bcs Thiam obvsly

Kira and Issac are back and Scira AND Scisaac are canon bcs I said so - he has two hands

Isaac came back with Argent when Eli popped up

Alec still exists bcs why include the future of the pack and then forget he exists??

Plus Theo, Corey, Nolan???

Harris never died/was never sacrificed (but almost) bcs the Darach let him go as a twisted thanks for the help or wtv but no one knows so he’s just AWOL the whole time (bcs the movie just goes ‘surprise bitch’ and don’t explain HOW he's for some reason-)

Scott didn’t just move away from his pack, his mum, etc. it just don't sound like him

The old pet shelter in Beacon Hills (conveniently near Deaton’s clinic) ends up needing a new owner after the owner basically goes ‘I’m too old for this shit’ so he’s the new owner yay

He still gets his vet degree bcs my boy worked hard for that shit

Lydia and Stiles don’t work out bcs I don’t want it to- sorry Stydia

She’s still a genius doing wtv she was doing in the movie bcs fuck yea renewable energy

He’s no longer doing his FBI stuff bcs he realised the supernatural in the cases and couldn’t do a thing about it so now he’s basically like the Sherlock or Columbo or wtv of the supernatural world

Stiles still lives in Beacon Hills bcs it’s a supernatural hub which makes it easier for his work

Nolan is dealing w hunter shit

Corey is temporarily away on work stuff or smth soz bro making things up is harder than it used to be

Mason is not a cop bcs no

Mans gets his degree bcs he’s the puppy pack's designated nerd and he’s a chem teacher at the high school (he’s also the councillor bcs that easy he can tell who’s supernatural to make things easier for everyone)

Malia and Derek set up the Hale autoshop while rebuilding the Hale Packhouse like it used to be

Isaac lives w them

We actually remember that the Hales are rich bitches

Bcs the house is massive and meant for yk a wolf pack rather than a small family, the McCall Pack use it as a sort of substitute packhouse bcs ain’t no one else rich so when Stiles, Theo or Liam are in town, they’ll stay there or if there’s some pack thing, there’s plenty of space for the lot of em

Roscoe ends up in the Hale autoshop bcs it’s too recognisable for Stiles' work but once Derek got rid of the ridiculous amounts of duct tape on it, he managed to fix the thing

ON TO THE MOVIE

Beginning bit still happens and the thingie gets free boohoo

Isaac also works at the shelter w Scott and is also having Allison dreams but Kira helps them understand the dreams + the ritual (which is also why Deaton dealt w Argent alone bcs kitsune also reply compulsively to riddles(?) me thinks)

Also Scott isn’t weirdly hung on Allison like sure the movie was cute and Scalia was weird af imo but Scira was fr fr and yet they kept on w the whole ‘they’re the only ones for each other’ crap which ain’t it

Eli still has an obsession with Roscoe (sames)

Mason is also a consultant with the arson cases bcs chem teacher + accelerant fires (the sheriff’s station isn’t exactly the most high tech of places)

Stiles is in Mexico sans Roscoe bcs of a possible lead on Kate bcs they did not need her adding fuel to the metaphorical fire

Shit ain’t awkward w Scalia bcs that was never really a thing (she just copied Lydia’s panic attack hack to save his butt/eyes rather than snogging bcs emotions)

No more ‘o Eli barely knows anyone - they all left when he was a kid’ this nerd now a bajillion uncles and aunts or wtv and also there ain’t no way wolves use that ‘2nd cousin once removed’ bull bcs its my canon and that shit don't make no sense to me - anyone from your parents gen is basically your uncle/aunt

She just sticks a couple of poisoned arrows in Isaac and leaves him half-dead in the forest bcs convenience and drags him back to the base as insurance

The convincing, the confessions, the flashbacks can include Scott but not for the most part - she dropped him and they were good w it; the show sidelining her boyfriend for her ex in her death scene was bad enough

Kira and Hikari work together to save Scott with their foxfire bcs being in the nogitsune’s realm dampens everyone powers, including theirs

DEREK DOES NOT DIE FUCK THAT SHIT

He caught her past New Mexico, having avoided the Hamrammr (substitute species for sk*nw*lk*rs bcs that term ain’t mine to use; it's the Norse term for shapeshifter - separate from berserker and other shifter myths; just replace the species role for role; they're also rare and hecking good at what they do etc etc)

Anywho mans starts like 'you would not believe what I just went through blah blah', all rambling and everyone just looks at him. like. :| and then he's like 'what did you do?' and Derek explains everything bcs Scott's busy with the polycule lmao

And then Sterek kiss bcs 15 years of denial, PLUS the queerbaiting AND getting superhelled is more than enough thanks

Listen shit stick, I've gone round and round this merry-go-round with you too often and it's beyond being funny anymore.

Once again, I understand that you don't know how to read, but that post I reblogged (didn't add my own commentary, just reblogged) was about the Sheriff's double-standards - something you should be intimately familiar with. It wasn't the fact that the Sheriff (or Melissa or Rafael or Deaton) did less than legal stuff to cover for literal children in over their heads, its the fact that the Sheriff seemed very selective about who he decided to "bend the rules" for.

Does it make sense that Noah would keep things on the downlow when Stiles bombed the sheriff's station while under the control of the Nogitsune. That's his son, of course he'd want to protect him. But that same level of compassion wasn't there when Kira needed it. Where was that compassion for Jiang and Tierney when he threw them in a jail cell for defending themselves against the zealous hunters?

He's an adult, and not only that, but an adult with knowledge about the supernatural. Its his responsibility (along with all the adults in the know) to protect the children. They're the adults! That's their job! But Noah suffered from some kind of inferiority complex or something, because he was insistent on arresting Kira and Jiang and Tierney to show that he was competent at his job.

There was even a moment when Parrish cracked a joke about putting Scott on the payroll, strongly hinting at the fact that Scott (and his pack) had to help the Sheriff out more once.

The issue was never about legal vs. illegal. The whole conversation was about how some characters are more selective about who they break the rules for.

PS: it doesn't matter how many damn times you rephrase it, you're not going to trick anyone. Scott never conspired to kill anyone. He never forced anyone to break the rules. I fact, he rarely ever forced anyone to do anything. That was kind of the point of his character.

Canon Scott McCall VS Fanon Scott McCall

I couldn’t help to notice that the ones who hype up Scott (the Scott McCall Defense Squad) don’t even actually like Scott as he appeared in canon. Because if they did, then why erase Scott’s entire canon personality, rewrite Scott as a completely different character than he is in the actual show, and give Scott everyone else’ canon personality and traits?

Scott Stans’ Fanon version of Scott is the “pack mom”, all compassionate and caring and looking out for everyone without asking for anything in return, which are actually characteristics of Stiles and Kira. Fanon Scott is often more powerful and a better fighter than Kira and the werewolves on the show, despite their years (or even decades) of training. Fanon Scott is an academic genius, enough to overshadow Lydia. Scott Stans’ Fanon Scott is the super smart and academically gifted neurodivergent student with “perfect grades but little to no extracurriculars” who plays chess, discusses telluric currents with Lydia and Cora effortlessly, and a magical Spark and soon-to-be Emissary with the innate ability to create supernaturally perfect barriers/circles of mountain ash; which is literally Canon Stiles.

Fanon Scott is a natural born leader and martyr who achieved the full shift and is willing to die to save his Betas and friends, just like Canon Derek. Scott Stans’ Fanon Scott is an excellent planner and strategist and smarter than everyone, even though Scott “The Plan Is To Get Stiles To Come Up With The Plan” McCall is the literal opposite and these are all Stiles’ and Lydia’s canon traits. And that’s not even getting into how Scott Stans take Stiles’ canon ADHD and Nogitsune and Dark Stiles/Void Stiles story arc and try to transplant them all onto Scott in an attempt to make Scott more interesting and as unique as Stiles.

Antis always whine about how Scott was the lead of the show, the hero-protagonist, the titular Teen Wolf, etc. But each character had a role to play. Each of them had a spotlight that shone on them throughout their run on the show, and a story arc that had nothing to do with Scott. Which is why it baffles me that Delusionals decided that every spotlight needed to be on Scott and no one else. Teen Wolf was an ensemble show, but antis are constantly trying to make it all about Scott and Posey instead, because they are forever butthurt that Stiles Stilinski and Derek He are everyone’s favorites and Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Hoechlin out-shined and out-acted Posey from day one without even trying due to their phenomenal – and undeniable – acting talent. At the end of the day, it just proves that a lot of these people, the ones who hype up Scott, don’t even actually like Canon Scott.

Because if they did, why dress him up in the attributes of other Teen Wolf characters?

The hilarious thing about Scott/Posey stans is that they can never figure out how to speak about Scott/Posey WITHOUT mentioning Dylan/Stiles in the same breath. And it's because in their minds, they're still convinced that Dylan & Posey are in some sort of competition for which of their TW characters is the best. When the winner of that competition has already been declared Dylan/Stiles, after we saw Dylan's phenomenal performance as the Nogitsune.

Like, the difference between Stiles & Scott isn't just the fact that Dylan has the natural talent of acting flowing through his blood, whilst Posey couldn't even play a cardboard cutout of Scott McCall. The real difference is that Stiles was a real character, who we could sympathize with and understand. Meanwhile, the show didn't give us a real Scott. Instead, we kept being TOLD to sympathize with Scott & love him & respect him.

From the very beginning of the show. Werewolves vs. the Hunters was a very clear metaphor for majority vs. minority. Hunters were very clearly supposed to be the vicious racists who believed that werewolves were animals that were inferior to humans, therefore deserved to be killed. SCOTT FALLS IN LOVE W/ THE DAUGHTER OF THE METAPHORICAL HUMAN SUPREMACISTS. Even after being told BY DEREK (a victim of the hunters) that his innocent family was murdered by Argents.

And then you have Scott proceeding to put people in danger, continue to date Allison, sympathize with the hunters, talk down to Derek, rationalize the murder of the Hales, interfere w/ Derek's being an alpha, attempt to sympathize with Deucalion (a serial killer), allow Ethan & Aiden to join his pack even though they aided in the murder of Erica & Boyd, and again and again. He just continued to be an awful character w/ little to no intelligence. And that's why nobody likes him.

I’m very close to writing a meta about why Quentin from The Magicians is better than Scott (even though he’s still frickin terrible), and it has to do with that throughline of inherent goodness. They TELL us Scott is good but he makes choices that decidedly aren’t. And by not anchoring him right away with something relatable, they made it so that when he says things like “I have to protect them and save them all!” it doesn’t carry weight because there’s been nothing in Scott’s background that lets us know why this is part of his character.

Especially when he aligns himself with the hunters to take down the werewolves of which a) he is one, and b) we’ve become endeared too. It’s assimilation and it’s worrisome no one on the anti side has taken ANY issue with that, heh.

There’s an ep of 30 Rock where the guy is like “I’ma white male, I can only fail up” and that’s exactly what we see of Scott. He fails up, he does CRAZY things that would ordinarily result in incarceration, institutionalization or straight up death and he gets rewarded for it. To a degree that when he does lose something it’s so detached from him that you never see the real effect. Allison died when they weren’t together and he’d moved on to flirting with another girl, but we’re supposed to have this huge emotional attachment to something that ended?

The antis make a lot of Scott being marginalized and specifically try to link it to Posey being Hispanic, but Scott McCall is the very model of privilege. For goodness sakes he missed nearly his entire senior year with AP classes and he got admitted into UC Davis? If that’s not failing up, I don’t know what is.

Meanwhile, Boyd gets dead, Reyes gets dead, Arden gets lost in the desert and Mason becomes the beast. *smh*

I hope all Stydia shippers are happy! -Scalia -Scott's eyes are back!! fuck, I was so worried. -The pack can breathe again. -Stiles' reaction, ohmygod -Scalia :) -FUCKING MONROE!!! -Ohmygod, the people of BH aren't against the pack!! THANK GOD!! I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT THAT!! -Liam and Nolan as co-capitans. -Just like Scott and Jackson were and they also had bad blood between them but got over it. -Liam: "You did. I am a great coach." *cries in Spanish* -I don't know if you've realized but the shots of Theo, Peter and Morey with Deaton are all from previous episodes. Just saying. -Because some people were complaining about Theo being in the tunnels and Morey learning about supernatural stuff (and not being Stiles the one to learn). Calm down your tits. -"Now we've got allies who used to be enemies" and they show Theo, I'm so happy!! #rendemptionaf -"We have protectors." and they show Peter glowing his eyes!! -"We have friends willing to fight for us." - Deaton showing a book to Mason and Corey -I think that part described the other members of the pack so well :) -Mama McCall and Papa Argent!!! They're coming together!! -And it's raining, nice touch. -You know, I know it's supposed to be like, the central pack (no offense to the others) but I would've loved to see Mason, Corey and Theo with them as well. Or maybe under different circumstances, but all of them together. -Scott's speech!! -That wink!! Sciles4ever -Alec: "Who are they?" Scott: "My friends. My pack." More Teen Wolf Plot Holes!

Part 2 to this post:

Derek’s “evolution”: As soon as Derek re-ages his wolf has yellow eyes instead of blue, and then he slowly starts losing his wolf abilities (Because apparently now your eyes being blue is tied to your strength, not having killed or your level of guilt?) Also, did de-aging trigger the evolution somehow? Why? We know various other people who could do a full wolf-shift, supposedly without going through this bizarre process.

Then Derek spends a period of time losing his powers, thinking it’s something Kate had done to him… (and again, we know other characters who could full shift: Talia and most notably Laura. If losing your wolf was part of the “evolving” process, how would Derek not have known about it?) And then somehow dying triggers the final state of his evolution? Did Laura and Talia (and Malia, etc) die as well? Or was the timing a coincidence? And somehow evolving cures the fact that he spent at least a few minutes being dead from blood loss?

Actually nothing about his evolution makes sense, and none of it was explained.

Healing: The amount that a werewolf can heal changes a lot depending on the needs of the script. Ex: Derek’s impaled in s1 by Peter (as a beta) and is completely fine an episode later. The tips of Derek’s claws go into Boyd’s chest in 3A and he’s done.

Braeden: In 3A Braeden has magic –(she touches Lydia and Allison’s arms and brands an image of the Nematon onto them) and when she comes back later it’s never mentioned again (The writers really should think about writing down card for each character about whatever special powers they are giving them so they don’t forget about it). Braeden also has scars up her throat from an alpha’s claws, which apparently didn’t turn or kill her. Kate has her throat clawed by an alpha, and it did.

Malia: I already talked about it but her being able to be in high school with a nine year old education really bothers me. Even forgetting that she spent 8 years in the wild, she should literally be in fourth grade and there’s no way a couple months’ worth of offscreen studying would have caught her up sufficiently. Seriously, whyyyyyyyyy? Howwwww?

Also, Malia’s age, as shown on her birth certificate, makes her 13 years old when we’re introduced to her. However, she’s apparently supposed to be 17 or so, the same as the rest of the characters.

Ages and time in general (nobody knows how time or calendars work in the writing room, do they?): There’s a discontinuity between birthdays given in the show and external materials, such as the TW calendars (which are said to be the real-life ones, ya know, the ones everyone uses). The ages listed also suggest that basically everyone will be graduating at 19 years old, which is incredibly uncommon, and especially odd considering Allison made a big deal about being “older” than everyone else in s1, which wouldn’t be true according to what we’ve been shown.

Important detail: Allison is freaking out at turning 17 years old during her sophomore year in s1, because she hates being “so much older” than everyone else. Lydia turns 17 only several weeks later during s2, in March of their sophomore year.

Meredith is the Benefactor: So many issues and just… how does a banshee magically control computers and printers?

Stiles & the pack after the Nogitsune: Everything he did while possessed… How have they not delved deeper? How has nobody shown the nightmares, the panic attacks, the trauma of the entire pack, the grieving process?

The pack is a bunch of kids, god dammit! And when you’re a kid, a goddamn breakup almost kills you, let alone watching your best friend/close friend being possessed and killing people and watching your ex-girlfriend/girlfriend/best-friend/close friend die in front of you!

Like, this makes me so mad! Like… NO! I don’t care about gory scenes and epic fights if you’re not giving me the aftermath of all that. If you’re trying to be realistic, if you’re trying to put all these supernatural creatures in real life, then give me real reactions and consequences! Don’t just give me a time jump and tell me they forgot about it and moved on. (arghhhhhh)

Paige: Ok, a serious question now: WTF happened after Paige’s death? ‘Cuz like, bites and scratch marks from giant wolves are hard to hide and miss… So… What did her parents thought when they saw her body?

I’m assuming that, ya know, someone found her body, called the police, took her to a morgue so they could find out what the hell happened… Did they just told her parents it was a “mountain lion”? Did they buy it? Didn’t they… I don’t know… questioned Derek, her at-the-time boyfriend? Didn’t they questioned why was she, an apparently perfect student and perfect kid, at the school in the middle of the night? Alone? Like???? Does anyone knows? Do the writers care?

Other important details that we won’t ever have answers for:

Why was Danny writing a paper about telluric currents for a chemistry class? Wouldn’t this topic be more adequate for a physics or geography or geology class?

Also, why was Lydia’s mom subbing a biology class for Harris when he taught chemistry?

How does Ms. Morrell works at echo house and beacon hills high yet no one has brought her up on child endangerment?

Why did Jennifer needed to poison Danny, considering he doesn’t interact with Scott that much and his paper on telluric currents wasn’t being taken seriously?

The overwhelming lack of funerals and wakes and memorials (teen wolf is on a very short timeline, where the fck are all the funerals?).

Why some werewolves can survive impalement multiple times and others get killed by things even a human could conceivably survive for at least a while (see: Boyd’s death vs Peter surviving getting his throat slashed).

How the hell did Peter pass a credit check to rent an apartment after being either comatose or dead for the past 6+ years? And, because I’m talking about Peter, how the heck nobody cares that, you know, a comatose patient with little to no chances of getting better simply got up and started walking and talking? Like… he just left! No questions asked. A freaking patient disappeared from the hospital, his nurse got killed and nobody comes asking for answers?

Where is Isaac’s CPS case manager? Who was he living with? Derek? Ms. McCall? Some random people? How did Chris got away with taking him to France (and leaving him there)? Did he adopted/fostered him? Why didn’t Isaac, Chris or Derek ever mentioned this?

Where did those japanese internment camp messages on Allison’s phone come from and why was Allison’s phone turned off for that entire episode?

Seriously, what the hell is up with Deaton?

Why aren’t there any security checks and security guards posted at Beacon Hills High? With the amount of missing, dead, hurt (and much more) students, that school should have police at the door, police patrolling the hallways, cameras everywhere and a very strict policy of no backpacks/bags and sharp objects within the school perimeters!

How could Malia just walk out of Eichen House all by herself. Was she just like, “lol, I’m a minor and checking myself out ‘cause that’s how it works”?!? Also, if there’s no key to that cellar door in Eichen House, how does everyone but Stiles get in so easily?

How is the Beacon Hills hospital still open, it should have been sued to hell and back by now, with all the people disappearing from it, being murdered in the hallways, and bodybags plus bodies going missing from the morgue!!!

Do Boyd and Erica’s families know their children are dead? Are they still “missing”? Like, after all this time, they are probably presumed dead, right?

How have any of the kids not failed all their classes yet? I mean, between not dying, lacrosse, dramatic + romantic moments and fighting the bad guys, how do this kids have time to do homework, study and go to school? And why the heck the school doesn’t call their parents about their kids constantly leaving the classroom, just like that? Without any permission or anything?

Why does Derek not know ANYTHING about what werewolves can do? We know he was born one but he didn’t know how to train a bitten wolf, or if it was even possible; he never showed them how to do the healing trick, which leads me to suspect he didn’t even know anything about it until Scott or Isaac showed him; he didn’t know Peter was the Alpha; didn’t know Paige could die from the bite; didn’t know some humans might not WANT the fucking bite; or that burying Peter wasn’t enough to keep him from coming back from the dead. Basically, DEREK DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING, EVER!

top 10 teen wolf episodes as rated by me i guess

IN the order from most to least favorite, and i did not include any 6B ones because it isn’t fair for me to use those when the season isn’t finished yet. (EDIT: season is now finished and while none of the 6B episodes made the ranking i did adjust the honorable mentions accordingly.) this is long & i had fun making it

3.19 Letharia Vulpina: ok ok so just like Everyone Knew I Would i did pick this one because of all the prime derek/chris material—that all-important moment where they had their claws and gun trained on each other, being handcuffed to a bench together, derek saving chris’s life despite insisting he wasn’t gonna—BUT there’s literally not a single second of this episode i don’t love. we open with deaton being a total badass and scaring the shit out of some yakuza dudes, then KIRA gets to be a badass, and then there’s a small scott/allison/isaac moment when he’s all laid up (which was my ot3 for a little while in 3A…don’t judge), allison gets to threaten peter with a stun baton on her girlfriend lydia’s behalf, and that doesn’t even BEGIN to get into the absolute delight it is to watch everyone running around trying to deal with all the chaos the notgitsune is causing (we even got to see coach get shot, which was actually pretty funny??). between all of that and the plot twist at the end (that we all saw coming…but hey) that it was really the nogitsune pretending to be stiles all along (and the very…gay…thing going on with him and scott), it’s literally like, the perfect episode. there was even a rain battle at the end i fucking love rainy scenes. PEAK television.

4.12 Smoke & Mirrors: my two favorite characters on the dumb werewolf show are derek hale & scott mccall and this episode is like a great big flashing sign that says “LOOK AT HOW AWESOME DEREK IS AND LOOK AT HOW AWESOME SCOTT IS!!!” because scott finally gets to KICK PETER’S ASS and comes back from something he shouldn’t be able to come back from because he’s SCOTT MCCALL, TRUE ALPHA, and how can we forget my son derek finally achieving the full shift and giving that big old “FUCK YOU” to kate argent. if that wasn’t enough, my third favorite character chris argent gets the second-closest he’s ever come to weeping in this entire series when confronting the sister he can’t kill at the end. also kate is in this episode and she’s the best villain i love her presence onscreen. also peak television.

1.12 Code-Breaker: i love s1 SO FUCKING MUCH bc it was so tightly plotted - it’s like back to the future and holes, it’s one of those things where every line serves a purpose and there’s no spare bits, and tw’s plot becomes such a mess later that it’s honestly really amazing. so code breaker is my favorite one because all the plot stuff comes together really well, and it’s just like well-done overall, there’s that sick backwards shot of allison, chris’s Angst when he realizes his sister is a serial killer, scott trying Really Really Hard and derek being Really Really Done (why don’t they have more scenes together…), stiles and peter cracking me up with the laptop password gag, like…there’s literally no part of this ep that isn’t a delight (also again kate is in it i love kate as a villain). it’s wonderful 10/10

3.14 More Bad Than Good: i had a real hard time with this one vs. the one immediately before it, the first one of 3B, but i love both bc i love watching scott stiles and allison absolutely losing their shit. in the end i like this one better bc 1. you get to watch them beat it and 2. they finally find and rescue malia and i FUCKING LOVE malia, my own daughter, also the scene where she reunites with her dad makes me misty every time. bonus content: watching araya hack off peter’s finger :D :D :D AND this is the first time derek gets to make heart-eyes at braeden. i’m so happy whenever he’s happy!!!

6.05 Radio Silence: this episode is everything i love about 6A all wrapped up in a nice neat lil package. i love 6A bc it totally fucking surprised me by making me like things i did not think i’d like, the biggest being stiles/lydia. and like…this season fuckin SOLD me on it, the way she fights tooth and nail to get him back and the way he’s so patiently waited for her reminds me 2much of claire & ben from @cambionverse and the beginning of me being sold was this ep, when they had the wall between them, and when they finally talked on the radio. and this episode even made peter hale interesting for 30 entire seconds which i thought was impossible—it was cool that he did One Genuinely Selfless Thing by going through the portal to save malia, and later when malia and scott had to take his pain to get at stiles’ keys you could almost imagine for a second he got to pretend someone actually DID care about him, that’s his reward for doing a single selfless thing. it was also stellar to see stiles (and the jeep!!!) again and see him working the problem from the other side it was like getting real sam back after half a season of soulless sam in spn s6 DO NOT call me out for referencing this show

4.05 I.E.D.: go look at these gifsets and read the tags. now come back. …okay okay aside from, That, which i won’t repeat as to avoid two paragraphs of capslock, derek also smiles in this episode. even scott is alarmed by it. HE’S HAPPY i’m happy he’s happy!!!!! i’m happy he loves scott!! i’m happy he spends half the episode trading long lingering looks with his future boyfriend!!!! but if that wasn’t enough this episode KEEPS ON GIVING because at the very end the calaveras show up and bully chris into saying the original code, and forgetting his daughter’s, which is deeply relevant to all my headcanons about the code lowkey being like indoctrination (watch that shit again it’s fucking wild…), and also it’s one of the only times in the series where he looks genuinely freaked out and i love watching his Turmoil™

6.10 Riders on the Storm: this is also everything i love about 6A in one ep, just like, less concentrated, bc there’s also the nazi werewolf (tho even PETER HALE getting judgy @ the nazi was truly a highlight). its got all the Big Damn Reunions, its got STYDIA, its got peter actually being slightly interesting, its got scott mccall: badass. its actually also got lydia martin: badass, which like…About Damn Time. it’s even got chris argent: badass, and it’s also got chris argent: badass smooching on a beautiful lady w/ his hands in her hair!!!! (her: that was so hot! me: GIRL ME TOO) also they thought this was the last stiles ep ever so his goodbyes to everyone were like really sweet & made me emo af

3.22 De-Void: so obviously i love this one because derek’s line when he was under thrall about “you’re NOT my ally you’re a HUNTER” got me into the dumb rarepair i wrote like 60k for so far but also i do genuinely deeply love the sequence where they exorcise the notgitsune from inside stiles’ head—lydia facing her fears in the ruined prom dress is such amazing imagery + im gay for the scott/stiles reunion. bonus content includes chris & allison interaction which breaks my heart (he’s so proud of her!!) and the tense kickass scene in the loft in the opening where the notgitsune (SCARY MOTHERFUCKER) is trying to goad chris into shooting it. i don’t love ALL of this ep bc it has so much thumb twins (& from here down there are no more perfect ones…sad) but i love MOST of it and the parts i do love are fantastic. so. i’ll deal w/ thumb twins

3.06 Motel California: look i know this episode should disturb the fuck out of me bc 1. derek and jennifer bang & in my eyes that isn’t a consensual encounter and 2. all the creepy ass suicides but like…honestly there is something so soothing about motels to me, i’ll put this one on to just chill out anyday. like it is delightfully creepy and i love all the meat to everyone getting hit with their baggage (uh…except the thumb twins), but mostly it’s the #mood i love. i actually even like the derek scenes before the sex starts because he is So Wounded and So Sad (“everyone around me gets hurt” BYE) and they rarely let him actually emote at all so it’s very refreshing

2.03 Ice Pick: this was like…such a perfect & amazing introduction to the new betas like if the new ppl in s4 and beyond had gotten this kind of good introduction (and hadn’t been killed off so quickly…) i would love them about 10x more. it’s got that nice s2 vibe that most ppl are into and i still love erica & boyd w/ all my heart!!! (DONT really love how creepy derek was w/ erica but we’ll blame it on being the alpha.) i also love how fucked up the scene with allison tied to the chair was & the fucking fight between derek’s pack and scott at the end…like scott gets to win a 2-on-1 fight and then derek gets to be mr. cool alpha dude and kick his ass. i LOVE THOSE FIGHT SCENES and bc of this episode “iron” is my derek theme song. so.

HONORABLE MENTIONS aka these were on the original list but didn’t make the cut:

1.11 Formality (aaalllll of derek’s ugly backstory this was when i knew i loved him)

2.10 Fury (the first ep i ever watched live, will always be fond of it for that reason even tho i don’t give 2 shits about matt)

2.11 Battlefield (the theme of doing things bc of the power of love will always get me, it was also the only teen wolf episode i ever made gifs of, back when i knew how to make gifs)

3.12 Lunar Ellipse (for scott becoming a true alpha for REAL + derek’s big ol’ well-deserved fuck-you to jennifer, i didn’t love 3A but this was such prime derek & scott material)

3.13 Anchors (like i said: watching stiles, scott, and allison all COMPLETELY lose their shit, also did you know the anchor allison chose in this ep ws her new code? Interesting)

3.24 The Divine Move (listen...you can laugh at the cheesy sfx ALL you want but when i watched kate argent come back from the dead to menace derek hale like his own worst nightmare come to life LIVE with mine own two eyes i jumped out of my seat and YELLED like everything about that moment was absolutely PERFECT and very few things are ever gonna top it)

4.08 Time of Death (derek learning to use a gun and then getting it on with braeden…bye)

4.11 A Promise to the Dead (not only chris unsticking himself from the wall for allison and scott’s sake but also derek and braeden walking around his loft half-naked in the rain...nice)

5.05 A Novel Approach (the stiles and donovan altercation…the first 15m where he acts with his face without saying a word…enough said)

5.18 The Maid of Gévaudan (i'm bitter about the flashback because i want ALLISON but it was a nice origin story + scott fighting the beast all on his own to save that library full of kids was one of the only truly amazing moments of 5B)

6.08 Blitzkrieg (the sheriff rebuilding stiles’ room and saying goodbye to claudia makes me really for real cry but there’s so much nazi bullshit that i couldn’t justify having the episode as a whole being one of my favs)

6.13 After Images (chris argent absolutely losing his shit the entire ep, fucking love it)

6.19 Broken Glass (derek hale's comeback and he got to spend all of his screentime with chris argent! i seriously considered poking this into the #10 spot but ultimately the sideplot i hated with malia and scott had so much more screentime i can't use it - i can't list an episode i'm always skipping parts of!)
