What I find attractive in The Reform Party is the wide range of people that they have connected with.
Because that's something that we've lacked in other parties recently. Someone who promotes a shared sense of loving nationhood.
The downside to this is that any sense of nationhood is inevitably going to touch a whole other nerve in the out and out racists amongst us.
Reform's appeal has shown that a shared sense of nationhood does not have to involve skin colour.
Being British, English/Welsh/Scotish/Irish. That's our national identity, not our race.
I can be closer in love of our country with someone whose skin is as dark as mine is pale, than with someone who is also white, but hates being English.
Immigration control should never be about stopping people from coming here.
It should only be about knowing who has come here and why, before they gain entry, and keeping numbers at a workable level.
We have many, many, many people who adopted Britain as their country and who love us dearly, because they know that they have something here that they could only dream of in their previous home.
Mr Farage can promote this, whilst knowing that there are people willing to quite boldly call for those crossing the channel to be shot. 😳😳😳😳😳😳.
And he needs to stand against such statements, calling them out as the filthy racism that they are.
Frankly, if that stops anyone who thinks that shooting people is the right approach to control immigration, from wanting to vote Reform, then they're no loss.
Send the arseholes packing, Mr F.

Perciver!!!
Aight- mind if I make a Oliver and Percy engagement fic? Here we go
This takes place about three years after the Battle Of Hogwarts, so Ginny is two years out of school.
Percy and Oliver had been dating since the summer before their 7th year, but no one knew.
Oliver Wood is the keeper for the national England Quidditch team. Ginny is one of the chasers, it’s Wood’s second year on the team, and it’s Ginny’s first.
England, for the first time in years, were in the finals for the World Cup.
The entire Weasley family is there to support Ginny, even, surprisingly Percy. Everyone thought he wouldn’t have come, not wanting to miss work. But he was there, so were Harry, Hermione, Fleur, Angilena and even little Teddy Lupin, who Harry had gotten permission from his grandmother to take him. He had seen everyone with red and white, and made his hair striped in the colors.
Lee Jordan was commenting on the match, and started with announcing all the team players names of the Scottish team, then England.
“And they’re off!” Lee shouted as the referee kicked open the trunk with the balls.
The game was so fast, both teams seemed to be working as one unit.
twenty minutes in, the score was still 0:0, both teams were exceptional. One of the Scottish chasers was zooming twords the goal posts, Quaffle in hand, but Ginny, seemingly out of nowhere came and knocked into him.
They wrestled for a moment, grappling for the ball, the Scottish player elbowed her hard in the face- everyone winced, but she had succeeded in her goal.
She pulled away, ball in hand, speeding twords the other sid of the pitch.
“Weasley in possession” Lee bellowed “And she scores” He cheered
A roar of applause broke out from the mass of English supporters.
She punched her left fist in the air- but by then, both her nostrils were gushing blood, and her right eye started to form a purplish bruise.
The Scottish team captain called for a time out- medi wizards tried to swarm Ginny, but she waved them away, and flew over to the rest of her team.
An hour on later in the game, the score was 50:60 to England. One of the Scottish chasers were once again closing in on scoring.
She threw the quaffle, twords the hoop. But when it was less then a foot away, Oliver caught it- more cheers.
Everyone in the Weasley’s box cheered, but no one louder then Percy.
One of the Scottish beaters came for revenge, nocking a bludger straight into Wood’s stomach, making him double over, only hanging onto his broom with his legs.
“Foul!” Lee called as the ref blew his whistle
Ginny took the penalty, scoring another 10 points.
A half an hour later, the English seeker caught the snitch.
A loud whistle, then it was all over, final score 110:270
All the England players practically crashed into each other, all seven crying with joy. Both Ginny and Oliver were looking worse wear. Ginny’s nose had stoped bleeding, so just to red crusty streams stained her upper lip, it was very clear she had broken it. Oliver seemed to have a hard time breathing, he must have cracked a rib or two.
The Weasley’s viewing box was exploding with cheers, George let off one of his fire works into the sky.
All the players flew over to the Minister’s viewing box, Kingsley and other ministry workers, along with the Scottish representation. The Weasley- Potter- Granger- Delacour party had been invited to sit with the minister, but they insisted they wanted their own area where reporters wouldn’t be able to badger them while they were trying to watch the game.
The scotts shook hands with their minister, then Kingsley, the English team was next, then they were presented with the shining cup.
Wood and one of the beaters lifted their seeker up in the air on their shoulders as he held up the trophy.
They went around for another loop of victory.
The rest of the team went back to the Minister’s box, accept for Oliver, he hovered, right infront of the Weasley’s box. Percy, who was leaning over the edge clapping, practically launched himself into Oliver’s arms.
Everyone seemed to be staring at the pair, and the silence turned to sounds of suprise as the two fell into a tight lip-lock.
The sounds of camera clicking, and the two pulled away from each other, Oliver gently setting Percy back down, both grinning and blushing.
“Oi! Wood- stop snogging my brother and get your arse over here, they’re taking a photo!” The sound of Ginny’s voice, who clearly had recovered most quickly from the suprise
She came over, and forced him to fly to the minister’s viewing box.
“Perc- what? When” George started
Percy just quietly readjusted his glasses and started packing up his things
SORRY LADDIES
The front page of the Daily Prophet the next day was plastered with the story- accompanied by the moving photograph of the two’s kiss.
Sorry Ladies- to all the quidditch fans out there, after England’s defeat of the Scotish national team- England’s keeper, 25 year old Oliver Wood and international heart throb publicly snogged the head of department of management of magical creatures- Perciver Weasley.
Percy Weasley is the brother of Ginerva Weasley, Chaser for England’s team. After this surprising development, neither would answer questions from reporters- but the Daily Prophet always delivers. We got this exclusive picture of what looks like to be a ring box in the pocket of Oliver Wood.
Percy sighed and folded the paper in his hands, he looked d own at his finger, and there was the shining silver band that Oliver had preposed to him with the night before.
Percy looked up, there Oliver was over by the stove, making scrambled eggs for the two of them. Oliver didn't usually stay over night at his boyfriend's London apartment - but this was special
Oliver came over and set the two plates down, and grinned when he saw the news paper
“Always quick aren’t they” he said
“I should probably write Mum, she should here it from me before she reads whatever rubbish Rita Skeeter comes up with”
With that Percy stood up, letting Oliver kiss his forehead and went to grab quill and ink
The end
I love me some fluff, but there will probably be some angst soon

Was Trump right when he called the Canadian Health System "catastrophic"?
COMMENTARY:
Trump is echoing the crypto-Nazi party line about all things economic, whiich is reliably anti-New Deal and Eisenhower’s 1956 Presidential Platform, which to say constitutional capitalism and the economics of Jesus.
Just for the record, Adam Smith’s “Wealth of Nations” is a post-Newtonian explication of the economics of the Bible, generally, and the Gospels, in particular (Paul’s epistles provide a view into the pre-kibbutz dynamics of Israel) and was written for the landed classes to optimize the economic health of their estates, such as reflected in Downtown Abbey and Lord Gratham Christian Stewardship.
Downtown Abbey is a little bit of British propoganda about the superior virtues of Oligarch capitalism versus industrial socialism (and Marxism about 100 years after Adam Smith). One difference between the intellectual dialogue of Adam Smith’s Scotish world view and the evangelical fevor of Marxist is the American Revolution, which put the English Romantics on sterioids and the Dauphin under the blade. Oliver Twist and Tiny Tim emerged in the backwash of the American Revolution and Trafalgar and before the narrative of the Communist Manifesto began to emerge from the bloody slogans of the Jacobins. Thomas Jefferson was ambassador to France during the run up to Bastille Day and he did a great deal to encourage revolution and he was absolutely horrified by the results, a little like Bill Kristol’s vote against Obama’s Surge that began the complete jug fuck he and the rest of the neo-cons like John Bolton conspired with Ameica’s favorite war criminal, Richard “Dick” Cheney, created by invading Iraq on a lie, WMD, that Trump is trying to reproduce with his “Fake News” assault on the 1st Amendment, including proposing that the Correspondence Dinner be eliminated.
The people around Trump like to see themselves as Lord Grantham, people like Betsy DeVos and the Koch brothers, who believe their wealth is theirs by divine right. It is a very Presbyterian conceit that can be misconstrued from Scots Presbyterians, who tended to misunderstand it themselves.
It has to do with a corruption of Christian Stewardship made possible by the prosperty Gospel of Norman Vincent Peale and the galloping commercialism of the “The Power of Positive Thinking” that Trump absorbed during the 50s at his father’s side. There is a difference between the respect for money that Jesus demonstrates and the love of money crypto-Nazis like Betsy DeVos and William F. Buckley base their entire moral enterprise upon. That’s Trump: Trump is the love of money, personified. When you combine the alleged spiritual instruction of “The Power of Positive Thinking” with the virtues of self-help and personal economic success of “Think and Grow Rich” and the entrepreneurial nature of the Evangelical business model, people like Trump and DeVos and Pruitt and Delaney and Bill Buckley have elevated greed from merely being good to Avarice is Righteousness by way of Ayn Rand’s classic example of the fascist outcomes of the dialectic as polemic, the Virtue of Selfishness, and why David Hume is the favorite philosopher of Fascists, universally.
It’s like Alice’s Restaurant: “You can get anything you want with David Hume’s epistemology”.
And that’s how Trump can to the conclusion that the Canadian Health Care System is catastophic. The same way Mick Mulvaney rationalizes ending Meals on Wheels, Betsy DeVos believes believes educating non-AmWay non-White minorities sinful and how John Bolton and Bibi Netanyahu hopes to get us into a shooting war.
You can get anything you want with the crypto-Nazi Big Lie.

Ideologies Part 2: Nationalism
Nationalism is one of the oldest ideologies out there. It doesn’t have a clear start as it is a vague term that could be applied to a lot. Where the 300 Spartans of 480BC nationalists? Arguably nationalism came into existence with the creation of the state itself. I’m being pedantic though so let’s get into the point of this post.
Nationalism is inseparable from patriotism. Nationalism requires patriotism, a love of one’s own country, but the terms are different. I’m a patriot of my home country, the UK, but I’m not a nationalist. As Sydney Harris put it:
“The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.”
Nationalism is, therefore, the extreme version of patriotism but I’m yet to define what I see nationalism as. There are two kinds of nationalism, cultural nationalism and state nationalism. Cultural nationalism is where the existing/desired nation is drawn based on ethnic/cultural lines, like the Kurds in the Middle East. State nationalism, what Harris was talking about, comes about from an existing state and only takes into account the geographic borders of the country now, regardless of ethnic lines, like most nationalism in the USA. Cultural nationalism gets too close to ethnonationalism so will get its own dedicated post, but a lot of what I’m going to say is still applicable.
Nationalism is the belief in an inherent superiority in/external threat to your nation/culture in which gives that people an immutable right for self-determination and/or domination of ‘lesser’ people. This is why the Scotish Nationalist Party and the Nazis can come under the same category as the term is vague. Nationalism is inherently collective. This is where nationalism’s power comes from, it makes people feel part of a special group in which they are better than everyone else.
Nationalism is incredibly powerful though. It appeals to the human desire to protect their group, a relic from tribal days gone by. Nationalism is what fueled the independence movements of Africa, Latin America and Asia. You may say these are good things but the very same people that carried out these movements went on to install dictatorships. A power vacuum is more dangerous in the long run than a few more decades of oppression. The oppressors, I know somewhere absolutely terrible and left real scars on their colonies, at least keep stability. In development, stability is the most important factor.
Let me know if there is anything I missed, in Part 3 I will discuss socialism.
