Julian is aworkaholic-romantic who returns to school to take a course which examines thenuances of global warming. What hedoesn't expect, on his very first day, is to fall for the stunningly beautiful Allison,a twenty-year-old student in his class. As a delicate relationshipslowly develops between the two, and Julian believes that he is falling inlove, his hopes are suddenly and cruelly dashed with the revelation thatAllison is engaged and soon to be married. But Julian isn't the kind of guy who gives up without a fight and he sets out to seduce Allison, risking all, including his job, to impress her and win her for himself. During a final exam, dressed as a dictator, he reads a treaty on the social economics of climate change, threaded with stanzas from a divine poem written centuries ago by Sappho. Allison is certainly impressed by his courtship and his tenacity. But even with Julian's cynical friend by his side, helping him every step of the way, will it be enough to persuade her to change her mind about getting married? And even if she does, is Julian the right man for her. Review "A flash fiction writer turns to poetry and speaks of biting love seen in a cosmic light." -Washington Independent Review of Books "Antonio Hopson spins gentle legends and quiet love stories. From biker goddesses to mythical tricksters, from feuding winds to debauched taverns, revealing the author's romantic enchantment with the world around him, even when it's at its grittiest." -Dru Pagliassotti, Editor in Chief, The Harrow. #scientistsatwork #marchforscience #marchforsciencedc #marchforsciencedcapril22 #sciencebooks #climatechange #climatechange #book #bookme #kindlereads #kindlereads #kindle #kindlescience #globalwarming #bestbooks #indiebooks #scientist #trump #facts #factsmatter #buybooks #buyblack #climatechange #bookclubbook #bookclubofinstagram #bookbag #earthpix

We are happy to announce our participation in the upcoming Open House Day of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Munich, on 9th of July 2015. After last year’s great success, we will host our interactive booth on phylogeny and evolution, again. We will ask the visitors to guess the evolutionary relationships between various species and surprise them with the results based on genetic similarity. Pupils, potential students, neighboring residents and all interested citizens are welcome to learn about our work and what the faculty has to offer. As last year, we will use the opportunity to be Marie-Curie ambassadors and promote INTERCROSSING.
Munich is one of the main locations of our network, hosting two ESRs. Two of us did their undergraduate studies at the LMU and were recruited there for the INTERCROSSING project. Our strategy workshop in 2013 partly took place in Munich, including the essential progress committee meetings with our PIs. Four ESRs have spent at least three month of their secondments at the LMU.

Like the previous one, this photo of a red brocket deer with a fawn provides information about the timing of breeding and birthing events as well as parental behavior. Because a combination of body heat and movement trigger the cameras , all warm-blooded animals can be photographed. This means a large snake or lizard (cold-blooded animals) will pass unnoticed by the camera but birds are commonly photographed. This Salvin’s curassow is a prized game bird, and its populations are therefore declining throughout most of its range. Its presence in a forest is often a sign of a lack of significant human presence. Although adult lowland tapirs are uniformly gray, their young have a striking pattern of white spots and stripes. These quiet, shy animals eat mostly grass and woody vegetation as well as fruits. Individuals communicate with loud high-pitched whistles. Like the giant armadillo, this species is rare or extirpated from heavily hunted areas. We are presenting our results currently at our self-organised achievement meeting. We are enlightened to name Will Spooner, Brian Charlesworth, and Nathaniel Street as external speakers. The supervisors are listening critically.
