Aurora 4

The doors slid open and she walked out onto the bridge. I stepped out and stopped in my tracks. The Conquest was an impressive ship and its bridge was a sight to see. The room was oval shaped and the walls were lined with control stations that were responsible for sensor read outs of every part of the ship. There was a floor to ceiling monitor that showed the space station and part of the earth. Several feet in front of the monitor were three connected control stations. One for sensors, one for a pilot, and one for tactical control. Everything was sleek and smooth. The chairs in front of stations were similar to the Tango's except they were black. The floor was covered in a black carpet and the walls were a glossy white. The ceiling was a dome shape with a large circular light at the top. Then in the center of the bridge stood the command chair where the captain sat. It was black with arm rests that had control panels.

"Captain Schmidt, this is pilot Skyler." Joseph's voice brought me back from my amazement. I looked to see that my teammates stood in front of the captain's chair in a semi circle. I smiled at the captain and greeted him with a handshake. Captain Schmidt was tall and had dark skin with a sharp jaw line. He was strong too with a firm handshake.

"Welcome aboard, Miss." Captain Schmidt turned his attention to the Major.

"Are you set to depart, Major?" He asked

"Yes, Sir. All our gear is stowed and everyone except Skyler here has been shown their quarters." The Major said with professionalism.

"Very well then I will signal the Sheperd Space Station that we are ready to get underway. You are welcome to stay on the bridge or I can have someone show you around the ship." Captain Schmidt said with a smile. He wasn't formal like the other officers had been on the earth base. I saw the Major visibly relaxed his stance.

"That would be nice captain but I think for now some of us would like to get a bit of rest." He said as he looked at Julia who looked like she hadn't slept at all last night and it was catching up with her.

"I understand Major. Maybe after you are well rested my Second Officer can give you the tour." He said gesturing to Second Officer Joseph standing next to me.

"That would be great," Major said with one of his charming smiles.

"Of course all of you are welcome to join me and my Second Officer Joseph for dinner tonight," said Captain Schmidt. We said your thanks and we left for our quarters. Captain Schmidt had given the order to get under way and we were moving before we exited the elevator.

We were all on the same deck where the guest quarter was located. I was excited to finally have my own space after spending two months sharing. Second Officer Joseph was the one who showed to me to my quarters. When I walked in all my personal things were already there. The room was nice. It had three sections one for the bedroom, one for the living area, and a bathroom. The floor was white carpet and the walls were a smooth metal with cool yellow lights in the ceiling. The room was small but not uncomfortable. The living area had a couch build into the wall with a viewport looking out into space. There was also a chair and table for eating and a small desk in a corner. I walked to my left to find a glass bedside table next a simple queen sized bed already made and a door that led to a closet. I set my bags onto the bed and went to take a look at the bathroom. It was small but still had everything a girl needed. There was a single sink with a mirror and drawers to put things in. The best part of the bathroom was that it had a tub to soak in. Oh, that would be nice. I could use a good soak before dinner. It had been a while since I had a chance to soak in a tub. So I unpacked my things and then got in the tub. I was just starting to relax in the bubbles when my door chimed.

"JUST A MINUTE!" I yelled as I got out of the tub and grabbed a towel from the closet. I wrapped myself up and tried looking for a robe.

"Dammit! No robe." I cursed to myself. Oh well, I guess I open my door and just hope It's not Captain Schmidt. I went to the door and took a deep breath before pressing the button on the door frame to open it. The gray door slid open and there stood Major D'ivoire. He had been facing the other way waiting for the door to open and was surprised to turn around and see me in a towel.

"Skyler.?.?." He said with curiosity in his voice. His eyes wandered to the towel and then quickly back to my face. He raised his eyebrows as to question my wardrobe choice. There was nothing I could do about my wardrobe so instead of being embarrassed I gave the Major a mischievous smile.

"Major, I found the tub," I said with a smirk and raised my eyebrows as to challenge him to say more. I stepped to the side so he could enter.

"I see that," he said as he stepped into the room and the door closed behind him. "Did you enjoy yourself?" he asked.

"Yes, I actually did. Now stay here." I went into my bedroom and closed the door behind me. I started to get dressed when I heard the Major in the other room.

"Corbin has already left with Julia for the dinner and Jay has decided to have dinner with the security officer instead." his voice was slightly muffled through the door. I went into my closet pick something out. I had brought several nice dresses from formal to casual. I decided on a floor length blue dress with a cape like piece. I took a look in the mirror and smoothed out the dress. Well if a girl is going to dress up She might as well dress up.

"So Why didn't you go with Corbin and Julia?" I shouted through the door.

"To be honest I kinda felt like a third wheel. I told them that I was going to make sure you weren't going to be late." He shouted back.

I chuckled at his response and attended to my hair. I left my red hair down and smoothed it out with my hair brush. My hair wasn't curly like my mom's hair was but it was straight and thick like my dad. It was nice and long and stopped shortly above my butt. Once I was satisfied with how I looked I walked out. When the door opened the Major stood from the couch where he was sitting. He looked me up and down and his eyes widened.

"Well, how do I look?" I asked after he failed to speak.

"You...look....amazing....I mean you look good. No wonder the name Blue fits you so well." He said recovering his composure.

"Thanks. You ready for dinner?" I asked heading towards the door. The Major was right behind me as I opened the door and walked through not waiting for his response.

Though I was already out in the corridor I managed to make out his response. "Absolutely."

Dinner was nice the Captian was a very entertaining host and the food was pretty good. Captain Schmidt had a chef on board who prepared all the food and he was rather talented. The conversation varied from our mission and what we might find to Captain's stories of exploring the stars. After dinner was finished I walked back with Julia to our rooms. She talked about Corbin and how flirty he was and how the ship had nice research equipment. Once we reached our quarters we said goodnight and parted ways. I got dressed for bed and did my nightly routine and found it easy to fall asleep among the stars.
