Without Clearance - Episode 1 - What Do I Remember?
“I’m sorry, Graham.   I just can’t remember the last few months,” I told the bald man who appeared on the screen of my computer terminal.   I admired how handsome he looked in his neatly pressed, black Freedom Alliance duty uniform.  They somehow made his long, rugged features look less severe.  When I spied the three stars that adorned his lapel, I wondered, When did he receive a…

PLEASE for the love of the universe read anti-colonial science fiction and fantasy written from marginalized perspectives. Y’all (you know who you are) are killing me. To see people praise books about empire written exclusively by white women and then turn around and say you don’t know who Octavia Butler is or that you haven’t read any NK Jemisin just kills me! I’m not saying you HAVE to enjoy specific books but there is such an obvious pattern here
Some of y’all love marginalized stories but you don’t give a fuck about marginalized creators and characters, and it shows. Like damn

YOU COULDN'T ASK FOR A KOOLER-LOOKING HUSBAND -- ANNE DICK WAS ONE LUCKY LADY.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on American science fiction author Philip K. Dick, c. 1960, then in his early '30s (age 31-32), photographed by his third wife Anne Dick (formerly Anne Rubinstein, who died in 2017).
"I was married to Philip K. Dick for five years in the late fifties and early sixties, a period when he wrote some of his best sci-fi novels. They were not, as your frequent contributor says maliciously, “speed fueled.” How would he know anyway? I didn’t notice him observing what was going on in my house from the corner of a room. Philip was dedicated to his writing, loved doing it and wrote effortlessly. When I was married to him he was a kind, loving, modest man, helpful around the house, and wonderful with the children. My four daughters remember him fondly. He was a great listener, an entertaining talker, lovable and loving. A paragon of a husband –- for a good while."
-- ANNE DICK (1927-2017), writing to the "New Yorker," after having publishing a regrettable article on her late husband

It's January 2nd, 🤖 Science Fiction Day. On or about this day in 1920, prolific science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov was born in Petrovichi, Russia. He emigrated with his family to America when he was three years old, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. As an adult, Asimov became a biochemist, but he gradually abandoned that career in favor of his passion – science-fiction writing. He wrote or edited about 500 volumes before he passed away in 1992, the most famous being his "Foundation," "Galactic Empire," and "Robot" series. He also coined the word "robotics" and introduced the world to the "Three Laws of Robotics."
First Law: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law: A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
In honor of Asimov's substantial contributions to the science-fiction genre, the Hallmark Channel and Scholastic Corporation organized the first annual US National Science Fiction Day on this day in 2012. The event has grown in popularity throughout the US over the years and has now begun to take hold throughout the world.
So, kick back today and let your imagination run wild with a good sci-fi novel, short story, comic book, TV show, or movie. You won't be disappointed if you choose from a master like Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert A. Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Frank Herbert, Mary Shelley, George Orwell, Michael Crichton, Frederik Pohl, Gene Roddenberry, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, or of course Isaac Asimov. ☮️ Peace… Jamiese of Pixoplanet

Without Clearance - Episode 3 - Not All Is As It Seems
I ran, trying to catch my breath, feeling as if a steel beam fell on my chest, crushing it.   Looking back, I saw him.  Tall and massive and not one bit handsome.   He had a face only a mother could love.  A giant black bear chased me.  His paws in the air, just waiting to pounce on me once I let my guard down.  He stood on all fours and roared so thunderously that the ground behind me literally…
