looking at college pricing literally makes me wanna throw up. how is this real
#i knew it would be bad but looking at specifics is so much worse#even after applying the scholorship they’re offering it’s just. so much#how is that one year. how is that not the cost for four years#learning is fun and i defitneily think college is for me and i want to pursue it#but it’s hard when the logistics of it make me wanna never think of it again#whoever thought like 17 or 18 is a good time to figure out your entire life plan was wrong#and whoever thought college should be practically impossible to get through without student loans for almost everyone is very very wrong

ive been looking at international universities in the hopes of getting a student visa and it's actually been an enlightening experience. you can tell the culture in different countries are insanely different from the US. every single university that ive looked at so far has a grad school program and really pushes their researchers to the forefront. even the universities in more rural areas do this.
in the US, we sort of have this culture of viewing college as a means to get a job. you go to school, get the degree, and get a job. we dont really place too much emphasis on robust academic achievement. we have schools with grad school programs and research programs, but we dont really push them or fund them.
i feel very lost, sick, and disoriented right now. i cant stay in oklahoma, and i dont trust that staying in the US will be a good bet. i can only afford to move once. but i do feel better now knowing that there are schools that give a shit that i give a shit. thats a comforting thought.
#looking at scholorships that actually care that you have a 4.0 gpa is nice#damn not even ivy league schools in america give a fuck about that#i say#stanford! stanford! 4.0 gpa!!#and they say#heres $200 you pathetic fucking idiot *spits*#ive been looking everywhere so far but ireland looks like a pretty cool place so far#thoughts of dante

A Brief History of USS FORRESTAL
The FORRESTAL story began well before the ship herself was born. In the closing months of World War II, Admiral Mark Mitscher made the first recorded suggestion for an aircraft carrier with the general characteristics of the FORRESTAL class. On 12 July 1951, the Navy announced that Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company had been awarded a contract to build CVA-59, the "Worlds First Super Aircraft Carrier." CVA-59 would be named FORRESTAL in honor of the late James Vincent Forrestal who served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of the Navy, and, finally, as the first Secretary of Defense. USS FORRESTAL’s nickname would be "First in Defense." The keel for this great ship was laid on 14 July 1952, and within 30 months USS FORRESTAL was launched. In 1952 USS FORRESTAL would be the largest vessel ever constructed. She would displace 60,000 tons, be 1,039 feet long, and have a flight deck width of 252 feet. From keel to mast she equaled the height of a twenty-five story building. Within her many decks she would carry the latest technologies and crew comforts. Her huge voids and compartments would hold more food, fuel, and stores than any other naval vessel. She is a sight to behold being the "World’s First Super Aircraft Carrier."
