My Japan Trip : First time taking a scenic train to Nara.
A pleasant train ride from Kyoto to Nara which takes me through the beautiful countryside. My only complain is the train ride feels short. 🤣

This train through boreal forest in autumn is almost too beautiful. Like a perfect fragrance or Broadway show. Save your gasps. I've only been on twice now hoping for autumnal trip. The tickets sell out pretty quickly in prime forest time.

The assistance of the Algoma Central on their expeditions was an immense gift for Harris and his friends, as the only way into the forests of the Shield before the development of the bushplane was by rail. You can sense his excitement in a letter written to J.E.H. MacDonald, anticipating “that we may proceed to biff the landscape out of a cocked hat at our sweet will.” The forest is a lush green in June, but the most famous paintings made by the Group were made in the autumn, and not surprisingly that’s when bookings on the Agawa Canyon train are hardest to get.
More here.

Forest train on railway with sakura in Alishan National Scenic Area, Taiwan, Asia: Alishan National Scenic Area is in central Taiwan. It's dominated by the Alishan Mountains, which feature cloud-ringed peaks and green valleys. The area is home to Tsou aboriginal villages, known for tea production. A narrow-gauge train, part of the Alishan Forest Railway, runs through high-altitude forests. The Giant Tree Plank Trail boardwalk winds past huge cypress trees, including the fallen Alishan Sacred Tree.

The historic Cumbres-Toltec train chugs along at a top speed of 12 mph, providing a leisurely 6-hour sojourn through the scenic San Juan mountains between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado on the original 64-miles of tracks laid in 1880. The train crosses the borders of Colorado and New Mexico 11 times, passing through high mountain passes, alpine meadows, and conifer and aspen forests that are mostly inaccessible by car.

Dumping train photos from the weekend
No seriously. There's a lot

I got to go to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad this weekend and I was in HEAVEN. The last time I paid a visit to CVSR was 6 years ago for Steam In The Valley, and although no steam locomotives will be back until 2025, I was still very happy to get to see and ride these trains.
Before I get bashed for the photos where I stood on the tracks, I was walking on a little trail that required you to cross over the railroad even though the signs say not to. They only have one train running all day and I was stalking its schedule to see what station it would arrive at and what time so I knew it was safe for me and others to cross. This was the Indigo Lake station btw, and I held up my family for a solid 10 minutes just so I could get more pictures of the train when it arrived. I still do not support the idea of farting around on or near tracks or outright walking down the middle of them like they're sidewalks like I've seen a lot of people do.
Safety rant aside, I got to stop by the Buckeye Express on the way home which was AMAZING by the way. Not just in terms of the food, that was delicious, but also because the restaurant is in a literal railcar.

I was too absorbed in all the train stuff around me to take pictures of the interior.
And here's some Steam In The Valley 2018 stuff I never dropped here, just for those steam locomotive lovers like me. As a treat.

I am punching myself for not realizing I only have 1 picture of Nickel Plate Road 765 and everything else I have are videos. I tried several times to upload them here but Tumblr will Not Have It.
And finally, I got myself a new train shirt because my "Who Tooted?" shirt is really starting to wear down after having it a year and a half. I gotta get me a new one. I also got a few bonuses because why not.

That's all I got for now :3

Feelings.... Ughghugh...
I've watched it twice now fully through. First time you tend to miss things. Second time I watched a little closer. Now I'm sorta jumping around. Ughguhg... Grimmons Feels under the cut~ Spoilers to High Hell and Back and tagged as such!
While we got a lot of comedic and funny moments with the boys, and some touching moments as well, and also just some sick animations, we did get this:
Tumblr media
I'm not sure what song this is that plays at this moment - I know it's been repeated through the show a number of times (I thought for a moment it was Hate Glue but it's not, but I DO think it's been used specifically for these two... It was also the last song during the credits) That, to me, was everything. That flat out felt like a confession. Maybe others could read it as just being like 'You're my BFF let's both gtfo.' But the way it was delivered; especially knowing Simmon's knew how much that meant for Grif. And as Grif goes on his little rant, Simmon's response isn't 'No', or 'I can't', it's that he wants to help Caboose with this threat because he cares about Caboose, and what Sarge had wanted for them. Which in turn convinced Grif to also stay for this Last Bastion deal. They were both aware they could die during this fight. Then their last scenes:

Vale Deah is playing during this. I listened to it - never had before but, fuck, there's undertones in that song. Anywho, again Grif is reaching out here, and while Simmon's is quick to say he won't go back to Earth, it felt more like their banter than an actual outright dismissal. And that 'Okay. Sure.' IS his answer to both 'Come with me' and this conversation. Simmons still wants to make something out of himself before he can feel justified leaving. He knows Grif's been through enough. He might, might even know about Grif's first posting, and how the man has now lived through a total of five Near-Death Experiences (Outpost, Tank, Cliff, Chorus Crash, MetaTuck)
. . . . I give it a Year before Simmon's shows up on Grif's doorstep in Hawaii.
And that's being generous.
