Yeaahhh it seems so much like NaNo got A Lot of money from them as a sponsor and are kind just exclusively doing all of this because of them. Allegedly, at least, what with all the other posts on their website.

At the very least it seems like they're shooting themselves very publicly in the foot; with Ellipsus (& hopefully other sponsors) and even board members from their own organization jumping ship and leaving them because of this. Not like they were very well respected for a while before this but like they're really only downhill from here and I personally hope they disappear/fade into the background and get replaced in the overall writing community by better community options for writers than those which abandon them to sell out to AI that steals from them (and also have scandals about covering up groomers on their forums; that was terrible too obviously)

NaNoWriMo is spitting in the face of working class and disabled people who have been making art since the dawn of time.

It is honestly vile to use social justice language as a shield for genuine criticism of their stance on Generative AI. Get fucked.
