I'm waiting to see Supergiant's next response, and I am very sympathetic to Miller's concerns, if not their methods. but it has to be said that people cannot simply join SAG-AFTRA just because they want to. they're infamously stringent on entry requirements, and new talents are, by definition, not able to join the union. most people whose main job is something other than voice acting cannot join the union as a VA. it is a vast overstatement to say that anyone who isn't in it is a scab.

the system is a bit of a catch-22 where you need to have completed union-sponsored projects to join and maintain membership, but will struggle to find work without membership. supergiant was able to fill this gap and give new talent a way in to the industry, but maybe things have changed now that they're bigger. idk. but the fact remains that there are many VAs whose ability to find work and have a shot at SAG-AFTRA is dependent on smaller companies with medium-sized projects that aren't union productions. not all workers have identical needs, especially in a stringent industry like this. most crucially, international talents who cannot qualify by virtue of being based outside the US. are non-Americans scabs just for working outside of a union they are barely eligible for? what about VAs who have to pause their work for personal or health concerns and have their memberships lapse in their absence? it's not as simple as just joining.

Hi. I love Hades and Hades 2 as much as everyone else but we NEED to make some noise because Supergiant is refusing to sign contracts with fair pay and anti-AI clauses. And they are straight up recasting VAs to punish VAs who are striking (sag-aftra has been striking for 7 months).

We really need to make noise here because this mistreatment will continue if we don't.
