Just read the latest collection of Scarlet Traces, a particular favorite series. I love this extrapolation of how Earth’s history would have changed if humans had reverse engineered the Martian technology following their failed invasion in HG Wells’ War of the Worlds. This volume reaches something of a turning point in the series, but thankfully not a conclusion. Beyond the Red Hood (Part 7): The Medic

It had been months since a crime killing had happened in Gotham City. The last time one did, it had been a group of Jokerz that had died and been gassed in a warehouse. There were only three people that would try and pish the envelop this much in this city. The first was being watched over by his Dad and wasn't going to be stepping into that exo-suit anytime soon.

However the other two wouldn't mind doing this again. The only reason they didn't was, at least from what Terry could assume, the heat was on them. The Commish and he hadn't forgotten about Scarlet and Ruby. While Doc Korsekov had said Ruby was off the payroll, he had asked Jason to swing by and help out.

With Bruce's mind flickering a bit and VivaMatch now being picked about by Alex Bellamy, Terry felt it was a good time to check back in. Especially with these night doctors showing up dead. How did he know it had to be Scarlet? Who else used that tag in this day and age?

Batman flew over Replicant Row, looking for any suspicious activity. The area had been hit rather hard since Darleen Larson had swan dived from her building. But a lot of the seedy people were either running away or ending up with the tag on their skull. He scanned the area and found something odd.

Well...that confirmed it. It was Scarlet again. How could he tell? He recognized the young girl hovering around a window, trying to sneak a peak. It was 'Ruby' and she had been the one responsible for over-doing it, as Scarlet put it. And if Ruby was out in costume, he had to assume that Scarlet was nearby. Sneaking up silently, he threw a Batarang with a rope around Ruby and tugged her to his eye level. 

"Where's your boss?" he said sternly.

Just received my comps for the Rebellion Scarlet Traces Vol 3, collecting Scarlet Traces: Home Front and Scarlet Traces: Storm Front. Full disclosure... they've managed to miss out a page of Storm Front (episode 10 page 1, where Ahron is being tortured in the virtual world by the Martians, swipe left to see). The error wasn't caught at the proof stage so they can't correct it. Steph/Sasha, for crack purposes

Who cooks normally?: Steph, Sasha might just eat fast food all day, but she'll totally learn some Russian dishes. Or try.

How often do they fight?: They're pretty chill, but they do have some push and pull on the matter of No Killing thing.

What do they do when they’re away from each other?: They chatter on text, emails, Scarlet's blog, basically any which way they can because Steph hates being out of touch and never wants Sasha to feel lonesome.

Nicknames for each other?: Purple Haze and Lil Red

Who is more likely to pay for dinner?: Whoever has cash, but also Babs for when they crash with her.

Who steals the covers at night?: Steph, again, but Sasha is usually curled up right beside her anyway. Sometimes they tug-of-war.

What would they get each other for gifts?: Weapons. Steph tries to steer Sasha to nonlethal combat, of course, and she does kinda really like the hardcore taser that Sasha set up for her. They'll work up to guns, Sasha still doesn't know how good of a shot Steph is.

Who remembers things?: Sasha, but they tend to live in the moment more than anything.

Who cusses more?: Split, but they end up influencing each other and making the other swear worse.

What would they do if the other one was hurt?: Steph would get pissed and want to go bust heads, but she'd honestly freak and try to keep Sasha from doing the same because yeah. Someone might die.

Who kissed who first?: Sasha, it was totally innocent though, but it became a habit between them.

Who made the first move?: Steph, I know right?

Who started the relationship?: Technically Steph, but Jason was the first one that drew attention to it, telling the girls to get a fucking room when they kept flirting over comm on a mission.
