TMI Tuesday: What was the inspiration for your OCs?

Scarlet: “well���um…it’s hard to explain. I kinda just get an idea and just roll with it. It also kinda depends on what kind of character, I come up with ponies differently then other creatures. Like for Emerald I was enjoying some sprite and thought a Pegasus with their main color being green would be neat. Other characters I figure out one trait or quality I like and just add to it…”

“Busy….I’ve been very very busy and stressed out the last few months. I do apologize for not being active here, I haven’t been feeling too motivated to art.”

Dear Lovelies,

Long time no art. Over the last few years, ya'll have probably noticed that the less and less I have been posting here. I have been losing my drive for art and have been struggling to find it again. I'm not sure if it is due to changes to the fandoms that I was a part of drifting away and/or life being the way it is, but I have not lost my love for my characters and stories I have created here. I still would like to continue this story with Skies and Crew. I just need to find my drive for being creative again. As always, I appreciate those new and seasoned followers who have continued to support me after all these years with my ups and downs.

Blog Recap - Part 1

Hello Lovelies,

Since I have run this Blog for 8 years now. I have gotten a lot of new follower to this blog that may not know the whole story thus far of Skies and the gang. I have been wanting to post this in a video format for a while, but I do not have the resources or the time to create such a version, which is why this has been so delayed...

With that said, for those who are interested, below is the summarized story thus far on "ask-indigoskies"

So to start, I am Scarlet Sunrose, the pony behind the scenes (most of the time) who writes and draws for this little blog.

This blog centers around a Pegasus with a chocolate chip coat and blonde mane. Skies is a single mother of 2 young foals that she had adopted long before this story begins. A little engineering genius earth pony that goes by Otto and a little chaotic punk loving foal Amoris. Together they live in a small little town in a corner of Equestria that is rarely spoken about. This little town is know for it's quality of metal and metal works, but few will venture out to Silver Reins. Unlike most Equestrian cities and towns, Silver Reins is home to not only pony folk, but there can also be changelings, dragons, and all sorts of creatures alike that find this little town home. Something about this town nuzzles into a mountain valley has a magical charm that calls all sorts of creatures and ponies alike.

Skies was not originally born in Silver Reins, she was brought to the town by her adoptive Alicorn mother, Eclipse Solarwind, when she was a teen. They had traveled all over the land of Equestria for most of Skies' childhood, but something about the town brought Eclipse to want to plant roots for a while. Eclipse was apart of the Royal Researching Organization that Princess Celestia had created after an events that took place after her beloved sister became Nightmare Moon. Celestia herself hoof picked Eclipse when she discovered another Alicorn had arrived in Equestria. Eclipse not only showed promises, but has a love for researching the unexplained.

Chapter 1

Now to the present day, Skies has now become Silver Reins' very own weather manager. Skies herself and her staff will organize the weekly forecast along with managing the wild weather that frequents the town. Things have been going fairly will for Skies and her little family, but things were going to change once a lime green pegasus crashes into town.

Emerald Gale is a young, but enthusiastic archeologist apprentice. Gale has a fondness in the lost and forgotten pony civilizations. His love and dedication has gotten him into a number of conflicts during his apprenticeship with Milo (one of Ellipse's research associates). Gale is on a quest to locate the legendary Eclipse Solarwind in hopes she might be able to shine some light on a lost civilization that was ruled by an alicorn king. Now Silver Reins may be a small town, but Gale still manages to get himself lost. He asks around town for a particular Pegasus that Milo had mentioned that might know Eclipse. A chocolate chip Pegasus with a golden mane.

While Gale continues to get lost in town, Skies and her pet Cinder answer some questions before Skies heads out to pick up her kiddos from school. Among the many asks about how it is as a single mother, Skies received a number of asks for marriage, and a good number declaring how cute Skies is. Skies is not one to except the cute remarks because she deems them untruthful because how could she be cute? So being flustered from the constant love confessions and cute remarks on her appearance, Skies heads out to pick up her kiddos from school.

Unfortunately for Skies, some wild magic crosses her path, sent in from viewers, that transformed her into a chocolate chip patterned snake. As this isn't her first rodeo in dealing with the wild magic, Skies continues on her way to get her kiddos from school.

Skies finally slithers her way all the way across town to her kiddos school just in time for the release bell to chime. She is met to her kiddos surprise attacks of some conveniently gifted silly string that poofs Skies back to being a Pegasus again, but to only be short lived as another wave of viewer sent wild magic passes by Skies poof-ing her into a foal for a short while. While Skies and her kiddos laugh to the odd timing of this wild magic, the story shifts over to a hybrid changeling known as Star Berry.

Star Berry is the assistant to Eclipse. Eclipse was intrigued by Star's complexity of being a changeling, but not needing to steal love to sustain themselves. While Star is heading back to Eclipse's lab after running some errand, Star spends some time answering some questions before viewers are returned to Skies and her kiddos.

Kiddos answer some question sent in from the viewers asking about their favorite things about the upcoming season change. The crew manages to get halfway to their destination before another bout of viewer magic is sent Skies way. Not this magic was a bit stranger than the previous waves of wild magic. It wasn't until Skies realized that she was smooching a familiar Pegasus, that she realized she has swapped places with Scarlet's beloved Lovebug.

Now Lovebug and Scarlet must find their way back to one another! Scarlet and Skies circle the town in search of the panicking Lovebug. While in search for one another, both parties answer some questions about the current situation Skies and Lovebug have found themselves in.

After only what felt like a life time, Scarlet had hunted down her beloved Lovebug. Now all that was left was to uncover a way to swap the two ponies back to their original bodies. A few viewers suggest a few combinations that would hopefully reverse the body swapping ailment.

Oddly enough, the strange compilation of chocolaty bonbons and orange juice seemed to do the trick. Lovebug and Skies returned to their original bodies. Now with the body swapping interruption out of their way, the kiddos remind Skies it was time to head home. Everypony says their goodbye and as Skies and crew make their way home, Lovebug take the opportunity to sweep her beloved Scarlet off her hooves for a kiss before the story heads over to Emerald for a while.

Gale answers some questions as he wonders around the town looking for a chocolate chip Pegasus. As Gale answers some questions sent in by the viewers, the viewers learn of the reason behind Gale's interest in finding chocolate chip Pegasus. Gale is in search of answers on a lost civilization that worshipped an Alicorn king. While researching what little could be found on this Alicorn king, Gale discovered that Alicorn king may have arrived to Equestia from another land. Perhaps a scholar such as the legendary Eclipse would have some insight on a lost Alicorn king.

The local towns folk direct Gale to the local weather office at edge of town. "That sounds a lot like Miss Indigo" a local suggests to Gale. Gale now hurries to the local weather office.

While Gale hurries to find the local weather office, Skies is at her weather office giving instruction to her staff on the days weather forecast. After Skies dismisses her staff to head off to their duties, she answers some questions while she has a moment of quiet. The usual asking of how family life is and cute confessions, Skies is interrupted by her assistant. Skies' assistant informs her a wild magic filled cloud is heading into the market district. Without hesitation, Skies heads out to range the magical cloud headed to the market district.

The market district is more of a farmers market type of set up. Many booths and tents are set up in the open area not farm from the town hall. Any number of items could be found here. Anything from fruits, books, crafts, flowers, treats, and anything you could imagine. The vendors of these small shops will rotate throughout the year.

While Skies tries to wrangle the wild magic filled cloud, the viewers ask Skies about her some more questions. Some being about a particular event that Skies has attended in the past. As Skies struggles with the cloud, a familiar Unicorn approaches Skies with a picnic basket in hoof. "Um Skies...I know you might be busy...but would you like to have a picnic with me..." Frae stammers. The sweet chime of a familiar unicorn's voice perks Skies' ear. Her friend Frae lives quiet a bit a ways from Skies town. So hearing her sweet voice distracted Skies from what she was doing and kicked the cloud out of instinct.

Skies face plants into the ground, but quickly recovers "I would love to go on a picnic with you Frae" she says with excitement in her voice.

Skies and Frae enjoy a lovely afternoon picnic near their favorite scenic spot outside of town. There was no pony or creature around to interrupt the two...until there was a loud crash of thunder.

Before the ponies could investigate, a large green figure was quickly approaching them. Skies responds swiftly pushing Frae out of the danger. Without hesitation, Skies makes sure Frae is alright and give her a small kiss on Frae's forehead.

A now angered Skies approaches the green party crasher. Now covered in their picnic festivities. The green Pegasus quickly scrambles out from underneath the blanket. " I'm soooo so sorry miss...I didn't mean to ruin your date..." the green Pegasus rambles. Skies is taken aback by the "date" comment and pauses her attack.

As Skies ponders her next move, the green Pegasus looks Skies up and down. "Are you Indigo Skies" the green Pegasus asks with a sparkle to his eyes.

Blog Recap - Part 2

Chapter 2

We return to our heroes as they interrogate this green Pegasus date crasher. It turns out this green Pegasus has been looking for Eclipse Solarwind and Skies was the one to point him in the right direction. When Skies asks why he needs Eclipse's help, Gale explains the lost Alicorn King civilization. Skies remembers her mother mentioning this civilization, so she agrees to assist Gale, under the condition that he cleans up the mess he created of her picnic.

Before Skies takes Gale to see Eclipse, a detour is made to visit her peach farm friend to get some fresh peaches for Frae. The group makes their way to the edge of town where the sent of sweet peaches wafts in the air. Harvest is delighted to see her good friend Skies and small sweet friend Frae. While Frae rested her legs and Harvest went out to gather the sweetest peach for Frae, Skies maned her "boop booth" and answered some question while earning some bits along the way. Chaos ensued as usual.

Many Boops and bits were made that afternoon, before the gage waved goodbye to Harvest. Now they journey to the train station to send Frae on her way home. Skies and Frae chitchat with one another while Gale regrets his choices.

Once Skies sees Frae off to her train, Skies ignores Gale for a bit to answer some questions sent in from some viewers, along with some other cast members.

After many many questions were answered by Skies and crew, Gale asks Skies if they had reaches their destination. Skies not wanting to reveal the location of her home, she blindfolds Gale to keep her home's location hidden until she decided she can trust Gale or not.

The two travel a bit before they reach their next destination. Skies allows Gale to remove his mask. Gale sees a very oddly designed home hidden between some hills. As Skies reaches her hoof to knock on the door, Skies shouts "Mom, I'm home!" Gale freezes in place as he hears "Mom" shouted from Skies.
