if i was making scandal s4 i'd have a psychological horror cyrus subplot where he's periodically haunted by a rotting, zombie-fied ghost version of james every time he continues to support the administration in his usual immoral ways, both serving as a representation of his guilt over his loss, and the constant reinforcing of his sunk-cost fallacy way of coping. but because this wasn't relevant to olivia's journey they didn't include it.

also also: i’ve abandoned scandal now that they’ve gotten to the not-so-subtle “hollis doyle = trump” storyline for reasons that are,,,pretty obvious. idc if they make him lose i need an escape from this hellworld.

i’ve noticed an emerging pattern i go thru when it comes to shonda rhimes shows. they hook me in with the first ep, then i obsessively binge them and develop comfort characters (cristina yang, mellie grant) then they get REALLY bad but i stick through the shitty storylines and it’s like i’m in a toxic relationship w/ the show (s8 plane crash & calzona imploding, fucking all of b613 wtf)

then there’s the turning point where i really dgaf and i drop out (yang leaving grey sloan, and as aforementioned hollis doyle)

though honestly maybe scandal was never my show bc i NEVERRRRR rooted for olitz the way everyone else has. i kept screaming “STAND UP OLIVIA” whenever those two were getting into it. god, like yeah they want each other but when they have each other they’re either fighting or fucking, they’re never HAPPY. and people have the nerve to say mer and derek are a worse couple: yeah they were rough but at least they fell into a period of happiness…though i do agree if derek didn’t die maybe they would’ve split oop
