DEVIL'S LINE — P. SH (PREVIEW)
parings: vampire sunghoon x fem! reader. genre: vampire au, forbidden love, some horror elements. warnings // suggestive content, smoking, detailed scenes of gore, death, blood, mentions of biting, mild swearing. disclaimer! // this is based off of the manga/anime "devil's line". word count: approx. 10-12k
release date: TBD
summary:
you are a 22 year old college student residing in a small apartment in the bustling city of seoul. the world around you was filled with so called "devils" and murders. you didn't believe that these creatures existed until you meet one yourself. you meet park sunghoon, a devil in disguise as a detective of seoul metropolitan police department. he is the lead detective on the serial killings of young women. when you crossed paths with sunghoon, you become the prey for his resolve to never taste human blood. will you survive?
preview:
The city of Seoul pulsed with life even at its darkest hours. You stared through the window of the terminal you were in. The streets were bursting with restless energy, neon lights reflected across the large puddles of rain from earlier. There was a faint hum of voices outside, slowly fading away by the ringing of the train tracks and the music playing inside your ears from your earbuds. You sighed softly, your eyes feeling heavy after another long day of studying.
Your eyes meet your phone as you come across a news broadcast. The news anchor's even tone filled your ears as she announced the news of the night.
Good evening, this is Jung Yurim reporting for SBC News. We begin tonight with a groundbreaking case that has impacted the city of Seoul. For the past several months, we have discovered that there have been a series of murders of innocent young women. As of last night, authorities have confirmed another murder of a young women in the quiet district of Seocho. This is the ninth murder of this year.
Authorities are speculating that the murders may be connected to "devils". For those unfamiliar, devils are indistinguishable and appear to be humans. But under any circumstances, exposed to blood or intense emotions, devils are said to lose control, transforming into violent bloodthirsty creatures.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Department has still yet to give a statement on these serial killings and whether these murders have been caused by devils. Officials urge to remain at home and avoid traveling outside alone.
This is Jung Yurim, SBC News —
The news anchor's voice was abruptly ripped off your ears. You gasp, snapping your head towards your best friend, Lee Heeseung. Your face burned as you notice the sly smile curling on his lips and your earbud inside his palm. "This is our stop, Y/N."
Your face burned even hotter now, you were glad that you had wrapped a scarf around your neck so that it concealed your red cheeks. A cold chill ran down your spine as you hear the train doors sliding open wide, cool air hitting your body. The air hissed at you as you took one step down to the platform of the terminal. As you step down, you feel a strong force push you to the side, causing you to stumble on the platform.
You hear Heeseung's low voice griping at someone. "What the fuck? Can't you watch where you're going?"
A firm hand pressed against your arm, pulling you up. The touch was ice-cold, a chill that seeped through the fabric of your coat and sent an involuntary shiver down your back. It was a cold that lingered, numbing the skin that had been touched. You were completely still, unable to move from the stranger's grip. Blood coursed through your ears, drowning out all the noise outside. You looked up to meet the gaze of the stranger who had caught you.
His eyes were dark-an endless void. A faint glint of light reflected across, giving his stare almost a predatory glint. Something was unusual about his gaze; it was as if his eyes could see past your skin and see how fast your blood was thrumming inside your body. Apart from his eyes, dark circles settled underneath his eyes, possibly from the lack of sleep. These eyebags were a dark red, brimming his eyes.
Before you could speak, the stranger let go of your arm and walked away in one swift move. An uneasy feeling settled over your chest as you began to wonder who this person was.

Mouse (2021) Ep. 6 Recap
Following Moo-Won's tragic murder, Moo-Chi lost all hope and turned to drinking. Despite Han-Kook's perilous situation, the police have yet to uncover any leads on the perpetrator. However, upon Moo-Chi's recovery, he delves into the investigation of Bong-Yi's grandmother's case and uncovers crucial information regarding Yo-Han and his mother.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
Moo-Won lies on the floor of the church. His throat has been slit on live television. His last words are for his killer, "May the Lord save your soul." The killer appears as his childhood self as he looks up at the statue of Jesus. Covered in blood, he throws out his arms in grotesque mockery. He asks, "How do I look?" He had asked not to be turned into a monster and begged, but his prayer was ignored. He questions the deity's credibility and declares that he will take over the job of judging those who believe in such nonsense. The killer hung Moo-Won's body from the ceiling. He then wrote "I AM GOD" on the wall behing him using blood.
Bong-Yi arrives at the church before anyone else. The killer is still present and grabs her by the hair. However, she fights back with a knife. After a brief struggle, the killer almost stabs Bong-Yi, but he flees upon hearing the police sirens. Ba-Reum arrives after Bong-Yi is taken away in an ambulance. He detects the same mint scent that was present around Halmoni's body. As expected, Yo-Han is lurking in the crowd. Moo-Won arrives shortly after and upon seeing his brother's body, remembers Detective Park's warning about the broadcast. He screams and has to be pulled away from the body. Ba-Reum enters the church and breaks down in tears at the sight of the carnage.
The SBC newscaster receives a video from the killer. Han-Kook is shown watching a family having a picnic and talking about the fable of the donkey and the goat. The killer asks Han-Kook if he is jealous of the other boy for having a family, but Han-Kook does not answer. Later, the killer kidnaps the other boy and offers to kill him if Han-Kook wants. Han-Kook tells the killer to send the other boy home. The killer claims that those who do not experience jealousy are sinners. Han-Kook responds by saying, "I pity you." Han-Kook finishes the fable about a jealous goat who convinces a donkey to pretend to be sick. The farmer sacrifices the goat and uses its lungs to make medicine for the donkey. The killer then asks Han-Kook to choose between sacrificing the donkey (the other boy) or letting him live.
Moo-Chi mistakenly believed that Han-Kook's fable was about wrath, but it was actually about jealousy. The police believed that Han-Kook had murdered the other little boy who was later returned home safely.
Moo-Chi had to be sedated and taken to the hospital, while Yo-Han visited Moo-Won's body in the morgue. Its identification is still pending. Everyone attended Moo-Won's funeral, and a badly decayed body, believed to be Daniel Lee's, was found in the ocean. Yo-Han gives Bong-Yi the all clear to go home after hear beating by the killer. He asks if she saw the killer's face. When she says she didn't, he tells her that he would have killed her if she had. Bong-Yi asks if they've met, but Yo-Han slips away when Ba-Reum enters.
Ba-Reum yelled at Bong-Yi. She argued that she couldn't just sit at home and watch Moo-Won get killed. She asked about Moo-Chi. Ba-Reum wanted to know how she knew the detective, but Detective Kang interrupted and asked Bong-Yi some questions. Detective Kang also scolded Bong-Yi for going to the church alone. Bong-Yi explained that she called to find out which church the killer had Moo-Won in, but no one believed her. Unfortunately, she did not get a clear view of the killer. However, she remembers that the perpetrator was strong and not left-handed. Ba-Reum is confused because he believes that the attacker was left-handed.
Ji-Eun visits the hospital to see her son, but when she spots him, Yo-Han is staring intently into Bong-Yi's room. Ji-Eun looks in and sees Ba-Reum fluttering around Bong-YI, causing her to feel nauseous.
Ba-Reum promised Halmoni that he would look after Bong-Yi if she wasn't around. As he leaves, Bong-Yi abruptly recalls that she cut the killer's left arm. Ba-Reum promises to tell Detective Kang everything she remembers.
Meanwhile, Ji-Eun runs outside to throw up. She remembers how she once throttled Jae-Hoon and mutters, "I should have killed him then!" Ba-Reum asks if she's okay. She gasps that she's fine and hurries away. Both of them are unaware that Yo-Han is watching them from a window.
The boy that was returned home safely is Han-Kook's half-brother from his estranged father. He was unconscious the whole time, only remembering someone putting a cloth cover over his mouth while he played. He woke up in the same spot.
Hong-Joo asks if the killer left anything with Moo-Won's body. She is shown a picture that makes her go quiet. She visits Ba-Reum, and they discuss the case. Dong-Goo poses a theory that the killer must have bugged their house, which is how he knew they were making a fake videeo. Hong-Joo reminds him that they filmed the fake video soon after having the idea, so there wasn't time for the killer to place a bug. Dong-Goo heard a strange noise coming from the bedroom and checked briefly, but he did not see Yo-Han lurking in the closet.
Ba-Reum took the last japchae that Moo-Won made to Moo-Chi and apologized through the door for lying that the japchae they shared before was made by Moo-Won. He explained that Moo-Won would not want to see Moo-Chi in such a state. Moo-Chi briefly stirred from his drunken stupor.
The killer released another video elven days after Han-Kook's disappearance. The video was blurred for television, but it showed the killer holding the lungs of a dead goat, as per the fable assigned to Han-Kook. The killer taunted Moo-Chi with a distorted voice, saying that this is how things end for the Goatman and asking if he's giving up on Han-Kook. The killer threatened that Han-Kook's body without lungs would be seen by the country at midnight in three days unless Moo-Chi saves him. Moo-Chi wakes up and eats Moo-Won's japchae. He imagines his hyung lovingly reminding him not to eat too fast. Stricken, Moo-Chi apologizes, sobbing that this is all his fault. He sees Moo-Won as his young self, saying that it's not his fault - not then, and not now. Moo-Chi nods at Moo-Won and keeps eating.
Shin Sang is waiting at Yo-Han's house to inquire about the fact that he was the last person Kim Joon-Sung spoke to on the phone before he disappeared. He asks why Yo-Han stopped calling Joon-Sung when they usually talk daily. Yo-Han explains that Joon-Sung was going on vacation.
Meanwhile, Moo-Chi returns to work with renewed determination to study the killer's clues. He believes that the picture Halmoni was holding is significant, but he has no idea where she obtained it. Moo-Chi discovers Halmoni's backpack with the stolen yogurts still inside. This reminds him of the lady at the temp agency who complained about the stolen yogurts. He returns to the agency and the lady admits that Halmoni was seeking work, but was denied due to her age. Moo-Chi uses CCTV and phone records to deduce that Halmoni must have taken the job offered by Ji-Eun, so he goes to question her.
As she explains about hiring a housekeeper. While she is talking, she gets up to feed her whining dog. Suddenly, her phone lights up with a message indicating that some money was sent automatically to Go Moo-Chi. Upon seeing this, Moo-Chi realizes that she is Han Seo-Joon's ex-wife, who has been sending him money monthly for years to pay for Moo-Won's extensive surgeries. Moo-Chi leaves and quickly confirms that Ji-Eun changed her name and the name of her son years ago. In addition, her son, Sung Yo-Han, is now a doctor. Moo-Chi contacts Shin Sang, who informs him that Joon-Sung, Yo-Han's friend, has been murdered.
They meet at Joon-Sung's residence, where it is evident that he was severely tortured. A plane ticket to Switzerland is discovered, leading Moo-Chi to assume that Joon-Sung knew Yo-Han was the killer and that Yo-Han killed him to prevent him from leaving the country. Joon-Sung died during Moo-Chi's press conference, at the same time he received a call from the killer. MOo-Chi imagines Yo-Han calling him to do a TV show to save Han-Kook while standing over his friend's dead body. Moo-Chi sobs that Han Seo-Joon killed his parents, and now Seo-Joon's son has killed his brother. He leans into the face of the imagined Yo-Han and growls, "You just wait:"
He bribes an electrician to disable Yo-Han's security system and sneaks into his home. Upon finding the locked basement door, he hears Yo-Han returning home and sneaks out into the garage. While inside, Moo-Chi discovers a pair of bloody shoes in a box. One of the shoes is missing a piece of decoration that was found at the location where Daniel Lee is believed to have been murdered. Moo-Chi places the shoes near Yo-Han's trash and calls Shin Sang. Shin Sang quickly realizes that Moo-Chi obtained the shoes inside. Moving the shoes would render them inadmissable as evidence, but Moo-Chi persuades him that a small lie could save lives.
Ba-Reum goes to the prison to retrieve something for Chi-Kook. While there, he encounters Hong-Joo, who is investigating the possibility of someone sneaking in on the day of Chi-Kook's attack. The prison has tight security, and all visitors are logged unless they receive a ride from a prison employee. Han Seo-Joon feigned chest pain to inquire about Yo-Han's presence on the day of Chi-Kook's attack, and the prison doctor is currently in the infirmary. The doctor spoke with Hong-Joo and confirmed that Yo-Han had visited him that day. He also admitted to driving Yo-Han past security. However, he insists that Yo-Han did not harm Chi-Kook. Hong-Joo is shocked to hear Yo-Han's name associated with the case and realizes that her boyfriend may be a murder suspect. She remembers how Yo-Han appeared terrified that night as he held her and the cartoon Goatman bandage she found in his house.
Hong-Joo enters Yo-Han's house and goes straight to his office to search for the bandage she threw away. Instead, she discovers a bugging device in his trash can. The possibility that Yo-Han bugged Ba-Reum and Dong-Goo's place, as Dong-Goo suggested, makes her wonder. She becomes flustered and accidentally knocks some files onto the floor. While picking them up, she discovers the Goatman bandage under Yo-Han's desk. She looks up and sees him in the doorway. To cover up, she throws her arms around him and hides the bandage in her sleeve.
After she leaves the room, Yo-Han hides a file that she knocked over - a report from a genetic test lab. He brings Hong-Joo a drink and asks if she is free tomorrow night because he has something to tell her.
Moo-Chi is waiting outside the house for Shin Sang to get a search warrant with the bloody shoes. He wonders why Hong-Joo is at Yo-Han's house and realizes that she knew Sung Yo-Han is Han Seo-Joon's son from a previous conversation without him telling her. He calls Hong-Joo and invites her to join him for an exclusive story.
Later, while Yo-Han is driving, a car behind him speeds up and rear-ends him. The driver insists on calling the police, even though Yo-Han just wants to leave. Moo-Chi is watching from nearby; it appears that this was a set-up. The search warrant for Yo-Han's house was denied because the blood on the shoes did not match any of the murder victims. Therefore, they had to come up with another plan to catch Yo-Han. Tonight is the third and final midnight before Han-Kook is killed. Shin-Sang's girlfriend tells the police that she heard a child's voice coming from Yo-Han's bag. As Han-Kook is still missing, the police order Yo-Han to open the bag. Moo-Chi sits in his car with his gun pointed at Yo-Han, ready to shoot him dead the moment Han-Kook is safe.
However, the bag only contains clothes for a long shift at work. Shin Sang then texts his girlfriend to inform her that the sound actually came from the trunk. Moo-Chi braces himself again. However, he is disappointed when he finds Yo-Han's trunk empty, except for an emergency kit. Time is running out. Shin Sang follows Yo-Han, while Moo-Chi moves on to Plan C, which involves breaking into Yo-Han's home and shooting the knob off the basement door.
Yo-Han drives to a junkyard and hides. When Shin Sang passes his car, Yo-Han takes off in the opposite direction. Shin Sang calls Moo-Chi, who has Yo-Han's vehicle tracked. Hong-Joo analyzed the bandage. The DNA on it did not match Chi-Kook. They then tested it against the killer's other victims.
At the station, Hong-Joo meets Moo-Chi again. He is angry with her for hiding the fact that she knew Yo-Han is Seo-Joon's son. He is so upset that he almost cries and walks away from her. She suddenly feels sick and runs off to vomit.
Later, Moo-Chi goes to the control room where the team has all the photos and evidence of the killer's victims on the walls. He notices something new - photos of Moo-Won's body. Moo-Chi was not informed that the killer had sliced open Moo-Won's abdomen and left stones inside, similar to another fable. Overcome with grief and horror once again, Moo-Chi sinks to his knees. He later passes out at a restaurant, surrounded by empty soju bottles.
The blood on Yo-Han's shoes matches the blood of the body found in the ocean. The results of the genetic testing lab and the Goatman bandage also point towards Yo-Han being the killer. Yo-Han burns the folder from the lab and confronts his mother, asking if she knew that he was a murderer. Meanwhile, Hong-Joo takes a pregnancy test that comes up positive.
While home alone, Bong-Yi slips and falls. Fortunately, Ba-Reum is nearby and quickly comes to her aid. He piggybacks her to his house and settles her into his bed. Ba-Reum is adorably self-conscious that the blankets smell like him, but Bong-Yi seems to secretly like it.
Ba-Reum returns to Bong-Yi's house to retrieve some of her belongings. He promises to bring back Eo Bong-Yi, her bird, with him. While on his way, Ba-Reum receives a call informing him that Moo-Chi is missing and that Halmoni's DNA was found on a bandage at Yo-Han's house. He decides to investigate and ends up in Yo-Han's basement due to a broken doorknob. There, he discovers a wall of photos, but Yo-Han is outside, seemingly aware of his presence. Ba-Reum steals a delivery scooter and flees just as the police arrive.
Bong-Yi wakes up to the sound of Yo-Han breaking into Ba-Reum's house. She immediately calls Moo-Chi for help. Yo-Han follows Bong-Yi as she sneaks outside to find Ba-Reum. Fortunately, Ba-Reum finds Bong-Yi first and helps her escape. However, he goes back to confront Yo-Han and ends up cornered on the roof.
Meanwhile, Bong-Yi finds Moo-Chi and tells him that Ba-Reum is in danger. Moo-Chi arrives at the building just in time to witness Yo-Han repeatedly striking Ba-Reum in the head with a hammer. Moo-Chi acts on impulse and shoots Yo-Han, who falls next to Ba-Reum. Both are left bleeding out.
After being rushed to the hospital, Ba-Reum wakes up alone with his head heavily bandaged. In the room with him is Bong-Yi's bird, Eo Bong-Yi, chirping happily in the morning sun. Ba-Reum slowly gets out of bed, takes the bird from its cage, and with his left hand, snaps its neck. He then tosses the tiny body out of his hospital window and sighs contentedly, finally enjoying the peace and quiet.
