i liked the Hunger Games prequel overall. (Spoilers ahead.) I can't say I was too thrilled to watch Snow be a compicated gray character after how cartoonish everything is in the og series, but that's Susanne's prerogative ig. Like idk I'm not seeing the path from A to B, from the dutiful poor young man he was to the dictator he became - all because Lucy didn't trust him with a gun. Where did his empathy go? I'm sad he also lost some of his freakishness in the process, those shots of him looking at rats were a lot. I did enjoy the symbolism though, even if it was very heavy-handed.
I didn't like the first half of the film the most - the, again, cartoonish students, straught outta WW's Chocolate Fabric, except they fall into vats full of snakes instead of chocolate. I didn't like their take on the 50s aesthethic - it reminded me a lot of the Fantastic Beasts films where I didn't like it either. Blegh. I didn't like the Games themselves, even though the ways Snow helped Lucy were pretty fun. Dr Gaul was fantastic, of course. I wanted to call her the first evil scientist in the field of social studies, but then remembered the 70s psychologists... Her bloodied fit, too, mwah. Otherwise I didn't like how the film used female characters, and even if Lucy was great, we never got to scratch past her surface. I was SO ready to see her do a 180° turn on Snow after the Games - she's a performer, after all, - sad she didn't.
I think the best thing I got out of this film is the realization (based on pretty vague memories of the og films) that everything Katniss did were, unbeknownst to her, acts of horrendous psychological warfare on Snow, it's very funny. No surprise he got fixated on her (don't get me started on his fixation on his own's mother)
#maybe i should rewatch the og#although most of the second film is imprinted in my brain i constantly saw on tv back at my parents'#saw not watched. mom owns the remote#my commentary#you really don't have to care/#edit: looked through the tag briefly and ppl and i guess i'm really missing snow's inner monologue#bc it did look like he lost his marbles but pretty unexpectedly

Part two here
‘What if this is it. What if this is the ending we get because we were the unlucky ones and that this is where we were meant to be regardless of how hard we try.’ You say one day and Remy stopped shuffling his cards.
‘And what made you come to that bleak conclusion, mon cher.’ He asks softly, having a feeling that you had been withholding this thought inside for a while, and it wasn’t only until now did it feel like coming to light in the presence of someone you felt safest with, or at least he assumed you did with how often you tended to stick to his side. You had lost your friend Jubilee a while back to Alioth and ever since then you’ve been stuck to Remy and admitting things to him in confidence that he beloved you would’ve told Jubilee…had she stayed a little while longer.
You shrug. ‘Merely an educated guess. That and the copious amounts of times where we’ve tried and failed to escape but I’m pretty sure that’s evident, considering that we’re.still.fucking.here.’
Remy sighs, gets up from the table and walks across the room and takes his place next to you, shoulder to shoulder and as your thighs briefly touch. ‘You may think me stupid for thinking this mom cher, but it is the truth of my heart, and that truth is that I’m glad we’re here.’ He admits but starts laughing soon after upon looking at your confused face, finding it adorable.
‘Care to elaborate on that?’ You then said as you started at as though he had grown a second head. What did he mean by that? That he was happy he was trapped here? Had Remy finally gone mad, you weren’t quite sure but decided that you would hear him out in hopes that there was a logical explanation after a confession like that after all.
‘With pleasure,’ Remy began, ‘the reason I say this because if I weren’t here then I would’ve never met you, built a friendship with you and so on, so while I share your want to leave this place.’ He then leans in real close to you, so close to the point you could feel his breath fanning your face and his lips ghost over your own as your heart went nuts in your throat. ‘I can’t help but thank it for brining us together, for I wouldn’t have thought to experience a love quite like ours mon cher.’ Remy concludes and you couldn’t help but smile.
Remy has once told you that you did exist in his timeline, just with a minor detail in the fact that you weren’t a mutant like him. You were friends, close friends, but one day you died protecting him, he’s never forgiven himself since and still hasn’t. ‘Brave soul, courageous heart you had.’ He had said while fighting back tears as you held him just as he began to weep over a you that wasn’t you; Regarding whether or not you were together was a question that was never answered nor asked, for you didn’t want to reopen old wounds Remy chose to close for a reason.
You had a Remy back home but he was with Rouge and you weren’t even remotely as close as Remy and his variant of you were. You were barely even on speaking terms because of how little you interacted with one another. So needless to say your absence wasn’t felt nor missed in the slightest, but you didn’t have the energy nor the ability to care about that anymore.
You gently shove him in the chest. ‘Cheesy bastard.’ You muttered as Remy chuckled, pulling you into his arms as he pressed a kiss to your forehead, breathing you in as you melted into his warmth, feeling safe from all harm and most importantly; loved.
‘Don’t you know. All Remy’s to ever exist are romantics at heart mon cher?’ He playfully said as he tightened his grip on you, planting one more kiss on your forehead, humming in content.
‘No. I only know one Remy who’s a romantic at heart,’ you told him as you lifted a hand to gently boop him on the nose, ‘you and that’s the only Remy I need to know, for you are the best Remy out of all of them. At least in my opinion.’ You finished as you then kissed him on the cheek.
Remy smiles softly at you as he felt himself becoming more content with his fate if it meant sharing these moments with you for the rest of his life, you made life here bearable and he couldn’t imagine going back to a life where all he had to remember was your name scrawled into a cold, unforgiving headstone. ‘And your opinion is the only opinion I ever want to have for the rest of my life.’ He says as he held you tighter before smothering you in kisses, smiling widely as he heard you giggle and squeal for mercy, while back home you may not be anything to him, but here? You were everything to him and more.

Your mom calls you up and talks you into taking your cousin out trick or treating.
It’d be so nice and little Lucy would be over the moon to see you! No one’s able due to other commitments, and wouldn’t it be nice to come home and visit for a while?
Rolling your eyes, you pull into the driveway of your childhood home and out of your own reverie. There’s only a few plastic pumpkins sitting on the porch near the front door.
“Way to get into the spirit,” you mutter, boot nudging a grinning gourd until it nearly tips over.
“Oh, you’re here!”
The front door swings open and your mom pulls you into a hug.
“Told you I would be,” you pat her back before stepping away.
“I know,” she wrings her hands, eyes darting around nervously. “Let’s get inside.”
She tugs your bicep and once you’ve stepped over the threshold, she locks the door.
“Can’t be too careful,” she gives you a wan smile. “Let’s talk in the living room.”
Her nervous energy carries over with her, leg bouncing after she sits on the couch with the tv playing low in the background. She points at the screen with the remote as you sit down, the volume blaring to life.
“As reported by RCLN, the police have confirmed the death of four citizens. Sources say this could be the work of a killer much like authorities saw in Woodbridge years prior. Local county officials have issued a city wide curfew beginning at 10:00 PM—“
The blonde news reporter goes mute as your mom silences the TV.
“There’s been a lot of worry, so if you don’t feel comfortable taking Lucy out, we would all understand,” she says, eyes serious.
“She has to be dropped off by eight tonight, right? That’s plenty of time for me to take her and then be back home before curfew,” you assure her. “Besides, I’ll stick to the streets closest to the police station.”
Relief and worry flitter over her features, “If you’re sure.”
“I am. And I’ll turn my phone tracking on as well as share my location,” you wiggle your phone at her. “And I’ll text you as soon as I’m home.”
Sighing, she looks like she ages ten years before wiping her face and reverting back to her usual self.
“Right, okay,” she claps her hands. “Well, I need to head off, got the late shift tonight.”
As she stands, she glances down at her watch, “You should probably head over and pick up Lucy. Get an early start.”
“Alright, mom,” you follow her back outside, parting ways once you climb into your car.
You guys wave goodbye to each other and you back out of the drive, heading to your aunt’s house. It’s pleasant and extremely nostalgic, being able to see all the usual faces out and about—although, when you look closer, you can tell everyone seems to be on edge.
You’re going to keep your head on a swivel, especially when out later with Lucy, but you feel fairly confident you’ll be safe. You’ll stick to heavily populated areas near the sheriffs office and make sure to lock up once you’re back home. Honestly, it should be a pretty chill night.
Tapping your phone to double check the time, you park on the last street of the night—the one right across from the RPD. There’s dozens of people out with their families, all dressed up for the holiday. A group of kids rush past you as you open your door, shrieking and laughing, costumes streaming behind them. Smiling, you open your backseat and help Lucy out.
“This is our last call, little miss,” you take her hand in yours. “But this street has the full sized candy bars, so I don’t think you’ll be too disappointed.”
She smiles up at you, a couple of baby teeth missing, “Okay!”
“Okay!” You parrot back, smile breaking out a cross your face.
She swings your clasped hands together until you reach the first house; she then drops it in favor of skipping up to the door and pressing the doorbell.
Rinse and repeat.
By the time you’ve circled the block and started heading back up to your car, you’re carrying her little pumpkin bucket filled to the brim with sweets. Your attention is on her, listening as your cousin tells you why she hates circus peanuts (which she’s completely correct about) when you bump into someone in front of you.
Her plastic jack-o-lantern spills out a few pieces of candy as you rock back on your heels.
“Oh, shi—I mean, shoot,” you cringe at the near slip up. “Sorry about that, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“It’s okay,” the policeman you ran into smiles.
Your first thought is he’s a walking cliche: a blonde hair, blue eyed cop. Even if he is cute. The blue of his uniform looks so bright in the waning twilight, you kinda feel like a dumbass for running into him. He adjusts his walkie where it’s clasped onto his belt.
“And where are you two lovely ladies headed to this evening?”
Your cousin giggles, “Home. We went trick or treating!”
“You did?” He crouches down to be more at eye level with her. “And you’re dressed up like a princess?”
Lucy shakes her head no, “Uh uh.”
She points to the tiara on her head, “I’m the queen of hearts. See? Oh! And this too!”
She brings up her plastic scepter with a little pink heart on the end.
“Ahh, of course!” He smiles and it makes your chest flutter.
“Are you a real police officer?” She frowns at him.
“Yep, I’m Officer Kennedy, but you can call me Leon,” he stands back up, hand fishing out a couple of caramels from his pocket. “Sorry I don’t have any of the good stuff.”
“Thank you!” Lucy chirps, holding out her palm face up.
Officer Kennedy drops the candy into her hand then offers the second out to you.
“Oh,” you feel flustered, “uh, sure. Thanks, Officer.”
“Leon,” he affirms, a slight smile tugging at his lips. “You must be new in town?”
You laugh awkwardly, “Um, not really. I mean, I grew up here but moved away. I’m back to help take her trick or treating.” You face Lucy and gently squeeze her hand with a smile, “Isn’t that right, kiddo?”
“Yep!” She smiles back.
“Okay, well I’ll let you two get back to it,” he steps away to let you both pass on the sidewalk. “There’s a curfew so don’t be out too late.”
“Thanks, but we’re just going straight home,” you nod. “Goodnight, officer—Leon.”
He grins at your slip, “Goodnight.” He nods his head at Lucy, “Your majesty.”
She giggles and tugs your hand forward, shouting goodnight back to him. You let her lead you back to your car, helping her buckle in and placing her candy in the floorboard. She pouts and tries to grab for it.
“But—“
“This way, if something happens, we don’t spill it everywhere.”
“Oh, okay,” she sighs.
Smiling to yourself, you raise up and make your way over into the driver’s seat. Pulling away from the curb, you head back to your aunt’s house to drop Lucy off. Being occupied with making sure she’s comfortable, you miss the police car tailing your vehicle.
It follows you as you drop off Lucy with your Uncle, who just got off work. He tries to convince you to stay, but you beg off, telling him you promised your mom you’d stay home. Waving goodbye to them, you drive back to your mom’s place, still totally oblivious to the cruiser following you. You park in the same spot you did earlier in the evening, humming when you get out of the car.
Reaching into your pocket, you pull out your keys, chapstick, and a caramel candy. You stick the key in the lock and pocket the chapstick, but grin down at the candy in your hand. Unwrapping it, you pop the treat into your mouth and finish unlocking the door.
Stepping into the house, you shut and lock the door behind you. Pulling up your phone, you shoot your mom a quick text to let her know you’ve made it back safe and sound. The police car sits idling across the street before pulling away, slowly driving down the rest of the block before turning onto a separate lane.
You’ve changed into a comfy shirt three times too big and opted out of pajama pants, so you can curl up and watch horror movies. Finishing off your drink, you climb out of bed and head downstairs to get more.
As you’re passing through the dark living room, you hear the front door rattle. Freezing in place, you stay stock still, ears straining for any other sound. You hear the door knob rattle again and creep closer to peer around the wall. Watching the handle, you see it jiggle but it doesn’t turn. You curse under your breath, having forgotten your phone upstairs.
A heavy tread walks across your porch, steps creaking as whoever it is walks away from the front door. You stay in place—having seen enough movies that you know better than to go to the door. Your legs are stiff when you finally pull yourself away from the wall, slowly walking to the kitchen. Maybe it was some trick or treaters? Although it’s way too late.
Could be the killer…
That intrusive thought buzzes in your ears like an annoying gnat, even as you try to squish it down. Grabbing a water and a soda, you begin to make your way back upstairs to your room. As soon as your foot touches the bottom step, the doorbell rings loud as hell in the quiet.
“Fucking shit,” you gasp, nearly dropping everything in your hands.
Copying your earlier steps, you peek around the wall to check the door. You catch the top of a police cap through the small window and breathe a sigh of relief. Hurrying over, you unlock your door and pull it open.
“Apologies for the—oh, hello, again,” Officer Kennedy shifts on his feet, hand coming up to push his cap back.
“Hi,” you grip your drinks a little tighter, surprised to see him again.
“Do you always answer the door in such undress?” He cocks his head at you, lips pulling up into a grin.
Glancing down to see your shirt just reaches your thighs, your blood rushes hot, embarrassment making your heart race, “Oh, no! I-I didn’t mean to—look, some weirdo was testing my door earlier and I was headed upstairs when you came by and—“
He holds his hands up placatingly, “Whoa, whoa there. I was only teasing. You said someone tried to get in?”
Nodding, you continue, “I think. I mean the door handle jiggled a little before they walked off. It could just be a late trick or treater?”
“Maybe,” he looks off the porch to the side of the house. “I’ll take a quick look around.”
“Thank you, I’d appreciate that so much, Leon,” you effuse.
Giving you a little salute, he ducks off the porch and pulls out his flashlight, carefully checking the area. You watch him disappear around the side of the house and anxiety makes your scalp prickle. It feels like forever before his flashlight bobs back into view. He comes back to stand in front of you.
“I didn’t see anything, so maybe it was just some kids,” his eyes glance down at your bare legs before flicking back up to your face. “I’ll let you get back to your mom.”
“Oh, she’s not home,” the words spill from your mouth before you can think better of it. “And thanks for checking.”
“Not a problem,” he smiles slowly and it gives you an odd feeling of nerves. “Have a good night now, ma’am.”
He walks off down the block, presumably to the next house, as you step back inside to re-lock your door. It’s not until you’re in your room, sitting the drinks down onto your dresser when you realize he never said why he stopped by in the first place.
Well, it’s not like there isn’t some maniac on the loose. Probably just out checking on people, keeping the town secure. You push it from your mind and pick up your phone, texting your mom to let her know everything. Can never be too safe. Since she’s working, you don’t expect to hear from her so put your phone on charge and crawl back into bed.
Hours pass and you finish up a couple of movies before deciding on actually going to sleep. Not able to shake off the feeling, you decide to double check the door locks before passing out. Grabbing your phone this time, you creep downstairs and check on the front door. Passing the lock check, you then head into the kitchen to the backdoor.
Luckily, you didn’t cut on the light, but it doesn’t help the fear crawling up your throat like bile. The backdoor’s open. Not thrown open—just a sliver, just enough to have you pulling your phone up to dial 911.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a strangely robotic voice yanks the phone from your hand from behind your shoulder.
Crying out, you nearly trip over your feet trying to move towards the open door and away from the psycho in your house. However, a strong grip around your neck stops you in your tracks.
“Ah ah ah,” the weird intonation chides. “You’ve been such a good girl so far, let’s not ruin it now.”
“Please don’t hurt me,” you whisper, tears clogging your throat.
Your hands hesitate at your sides, fists clenching, nails biting your palms. The person behind you shifts until they’re standing in front of you. A black robe and hood cover their body while a white screaming ghost mask hides their face. They bring a knife up to tap against your sternum.
“If you’re really good,” their odd voice sounds amused. “You’ll get to live.”
Nodding, tears drip down your cheeks, “O-okay.”
“Good girl,” they purr, trailing the knife down to your shirt hem. Lifting the material with the blade, they laugh when they see your plain cotton panties.
“So good, aren’t you? Bet this cunt is just ripe for the taking,” they reach their gloved hand out to smack your mound.
Flinching, you bite your lip to keep from crying out. Everything inside you clenches, body breaking out in a cold sweat as nausea roils in your gut. Your legs shake so hard, you think you’re gonna collapse.
“I n-need to sit d-down, pl-please,” you stutter out.
“Poor thing,” the robotic reply instills no comfort. “Let’s go to your room, shall we?”
The psycho grabs your arm and forcibly leads you through your house and up the stairs; they shove you out in front of them and gesture forward with a wave of their knife.
“Your room. Now.”
You move forward, stumbling into your bedroom with the masked killer right behind you. Sitting heavily down on the edge of your mattress, they move in front of you to zip tie your wrists together. You feel yourself going numb—there’s no more room for fear.
“I think I can trust you,” the voice distorts as they start to adjust the mask. “So I’m going to leave your legs alone.”
You nod and they shake the knife at you playfully, “But, if you do anything stupid, I’ll gut you like fish and leave your pretty insides on the outside for mommy to find.”
Fresh tears spill from your eyes, “O-kuh-kay.”
They hum happily, “Good. Let’s see what we’re working with then.”
Grabbing your thighs, they shove them up and open, making you fall back against your bed. Using the knife, they slice through your panties and toss them onto the floor.
“Oh, what a pretty girl,” they laugh. “Damn. Just knew this pussy was gonna be good.”
Shivering, you twitch and squeak as they run their gloved fingers across your slit to tap the hood of your clit. Kneeling in front of you, they undo the bottom half of their mask and set it on the floor. Glancing down at it, you can see the hinged jaw holds a small voice changer over the mouth.
“Let’s have a taste of that sweet cunt,” his voice sounds familiar, but you’re unable to place it and your mind skitters away from thinking any thoughts.
He hungrily licks at your pussy lips, tongue parting your folds to lap at your hole.
You try to fight against the rising tide of arousal, but it’s a losing battle. With every press of his disgusting tongue, more slick drips from your pussy into his smug mouth. You grit your teeth, swallowing down every sound that he wrenches from you. It shouldn’t feel so good.
He moves his mouth up to your swollen clit, suckling the bud between his lips to slowly circle his tongue around it. Your hips jump up, pressing your pelvis against his mouth and he chuckles. The vibration makes you whine and the dam bursts for him—he eats you out voraciously. Holding your hips down to the bed, he sucks and lathes your sensitive bundle of nerves until he pulls an orgasm from you.
Moving his head back, slick glistens across his lips and chin.
“Taste so good, can’t wait to stuff this pussy with my cock,” he grins and you hiccup a sob.
“Please, don’t,” you sniffle, hips squirming under his palms.
Grabbing his knife from where he placed it, he uses it to push your shirt up to pool underneath your breasts.
“Time to give you something to cry about,” he murmurs before his lips tick up into a mean smile. “This will hurt.”
The tip of his blade dips down to your stomach and he makes a firm cut into your skin. When you yell in pain, he clicks his tongue and slaps his palm down over your parted lips. He continues to carve words into your stomach as you scream, sound muffled by his hand over your mouth.
By the time he finishes, you feel faint from the pain and having your mouth and nose obstructed.
“There’s my good girl,” he coos condescendingly. “Keep quiet for me, we’re almost through.”
Your head lolls to the side, silently crying as the killer ducks down to run his tongue through the cuts he made. When he raises his head, blood’s smeared across his entire lower face.
“Almost as good as that soft juicy cunt,” he makes a show of licking it off his lips. “Think I’m ready for the main course.”
You can’t see, but you can hear as he undoes his pants, the zipper extra loud amidst your harsh gasping. He shifts between your thighs and the head of his dick parts your slick pussy lips. With one snap of his hips, he’s burying his cock halfway into your cunt, walls gripping and squeezing him tightly.
“Oh, fuck,” he drops his head to watch as his cock spears you open. “Fat wet pussy’s swallowing me up. Good girl, good fucking girl.”
The breath rushes from your body with every thrust into your clenching heat. The skin of your stomach burns with the movement, blood sluggishly seeping from the cuts into your flesh. His fingers slip down to rub and pinch your clit. Writhing in place and despite the pain, you can’t stop from feeling full and so, so good.
“Nooo,” you whimper.
“Yes,” he pants, humping your pussy even faster. “God, gonna cream this chubby pussy—shoot it nice and deep.”
You hate that his words make you wet, clit throbbing under his rough fingers as he pounds away at your hole. He adjusts his angle and you nearly scream, the head of his dick knocking against your cervix. Your brain blanks out, the pain between your legs meshing with the pain of your tummy until it’s all white noise.
The only thing you can do is cling onto the feeble pleasure he’s giving you.
“That’s it, want you to feel it tomorrow, feel how deep I fucked this pretty pussy,” he grunts, sweat beading in his upper lip.
“Please,” you whimper, “oh, please, please, please.”
“Shhh, I’ll make you cum again, don’t worry,” he laughs and you notice flecks of blood on his teeth.
He reaches up to the blood pooling in your belly button and brings his fingers back down to your clit, rubbing it into your pudgy bud. You whine continuously, sickeningly grateful for the reprieve of pain when your arousal pushes through that fog of misery.
Snapping his hips harder into you, he growls and moans, cock pistoning in and out of your cunt at a dizzying pace. His fingers continue to circle and rub your clit until you’re clenching and whimpering, pussy walls milking his cock, as he stays true to his word, bringing you to climax once more.
“Good girl, fuck, gonna nut in this soft pussy, leave you with a Halloween treat,” he snarls down at you. “Say thank you.”
“T-thank you,” you weep, sinuses clogged.
“God damn,” he hisses under his breath and slams his hips into you one last time.
Disgust fills you just like his seed, warm and potent, settling deep in your body in a way that you’ll never forget. Your body feels like a limp dish rag when he pulls out, cum leaking from your pussy to stain your sheets.
“This shit is so hot sometimes,” his mouth twists in a grimace and right before your eyes, he slips off the hood before taking off the rest of his mask.
You’re too weak for anything more than a wounded sound from your throat as the officer from earlier in the night sits before you.
“Surprise,” he grins at you, blonde fringe ruffled and sweaty. “Or should I say Happy Halloween.”

Logan can sing.
But he doesn't sing in front of anyone.
When he is by himself (driving a car or even in the shower) he starts to sing.
And bc he is around 200 years old, he sings from every time period. Every song he knows is a memory of a purely happy moment: An old lullaby sang to him by his mom or adopted dad. A jaunty little jig played on an out of tune fiddle that played when he had a first dance with someone in his youth. An upbeat jazz number that played in a nightclub the night before him and Victor shipped out to the European theater in WW2.
He knows a lot of songs. And each one a memory that he feels is worth revisiting when the mood strikes him.
The thing is, Althea hears everything. She keeps it to herself. She likes his voice, especially the way he sings the oldies she grew up with. She knows he would be embarrassed and never sing again if she gave even the slightest inkling of knowing. So, she just listens.
Laura hasn't ever heard him sing, but she notices that when they're in a car together he insists on letting certain songs play. He never sings or even hums. He just listens. But one day, while they were picking up Althea's medications and geoceries, Joan Jett and the Blackheart's "Bad Reputation" starts to play. And Laura, can't help it. She loves this song. And starts to sing to it. Logan looks over at her perplexed. "I didn't know you sing?" He says to her. "This song is about you, you know," she taunts back. He snorts. But then he starts bobbing his head to the beat. Laura notices and sings a little more enthusiastically, hoping he might join in his own way. He hums low, while turning up the volume so she can't hear him. Laura sings a little louder and even does a little air guitar. He just watches and smiles. Laura doing her one woman revival of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
They get back and Logan hands Althea her bag of meds. "Make sure Wade doesn't find this stash," he says. Laura unpacks some of the groceries then heads out for the night with some friends. Wade is out on a job, so it is just Althea and Logan. They sit on the couch, Logan flips through channels until they find something they both like. They more often then not gravitate towards the Turner Classic Movies channel, or some trash reality TV that catches their interest. This night, Logan lands on "Singing in the Rain," and he stops. It is the titular moment when Gene Kelley and Debbie Reynolds are kissing on the stoop, before he breaks out into the big musical number for which the movie is called.
Althea notices this immediately. "I never took you for a guy who liked musicals," Althea quips. She hears the remote creaks in Logan's hand. He is going to change the channel. But Althea is quick to stop him, "Nah, uh....I like this part. Don't change it."
Gene Kelley put his umbrella aside, starts to hum that catchy tune and the music swells...Althea noticed she could feel a slight thumping on the ground. It was Logan's foot, tapping to the beat. She also heard a very slight creak of the remote, still in Logan's hand. He was tapping his finger to the beat as well. Althea smiled to herself: this guy really is full of surprises.
They watch the whole movie. The entire time, Logan kept his hand on the remote but never made a move to change it. His finger and foot tapped to every song.
As the credits rolled, Logan began moving furniture to pull out the futon. Althea walked around to figure out where he was putting the furniture so she wouldn't trip over it in the morning.
"I saw that movie with my dad when I was probably 9 years old. It was the first movie I ever saw in a theater," Althea said.
"Me, too," Logan said. "First, time in a theater."
"I figured you'd be into westerns with how you act like Clint Eastwood up in here."
"Clint Eastwood was in a musical, too."
"What?"
"Something like...Wagon Paint? Can't really remember. We were watching it in the barracks in Vietnam when we were suddenly being rushed..." his voice trails off and the room tenses around him.
Althea didn't need eyes to see that Logan was having a traumatic flash back. She knew not to touch him. Instead, she quickly fiddled her hands to where she last heard the remote clank. When she finally grasped it and found the power button, she realizes she had no idea what movie was playing next. Hoping it wasn't a John Wayne war movie, she breathed a sigh of relief when she heard a song she vaguely recognized belonging to the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," an obscure one for sure. But hey, better than what was happening in Logan's head right now. Howard Keel was full on belting about how some girl was the girl for him, so Althea jabbed the volume button as loud as it would go, neighbors downstairs be damned.
Eventually, she heard Logan move. It sounded like he took a step, like he was turning towards her.
"Althea?" He sounded a little dazed and confused, but atleast he was here, and not lost in his thoughts. She didn't want to embarrass him.
"Sorry, Logan, I read in the TV guide that this movie was on next and I just had to see it."
"You read the what?"
"Just lay down and watch this movie with me for a bit."
And so Logan found his place on the futon, Althea on her sitting chair. And they just let the music and movie take them away for a bit.
"Thanks Al." Logan, said.
"Don't mention it."
When the movie ends, Althea turns off the TV and makes her way to her bedroom. As she dozes off, she hears, rather clearly, Logan singing. She can't make out what he is singing. But it sounds vaguely like Joan Jett and then morphs into Singing in the Rain.

Otherverse
Summary: After stepping through the rift, Dean and the reader find themselves in an entirely different universe altogether. Monsters don’t exist, everyone they’ve ever lost is alive and there is some strange dynamic going on with everyone. Luckily they’ve run into themselves to help them out...
Pairing: Alpha!Dean x Omega!reader
Word Count: 4,700ish
Warnings: language, mentions of sex
A/N: This fic is such a hot mess and has been hiding in my drafts for oh, five years? Time for it to see the light of day! Please enjoy!
_______________
Dean was shrugging his shoulders at you from the other side of the kitchen table. The fact his twin was setting a cup of coffee down in front of him wasn’t the strangest thing you’d ever ran into but it was certainly up there.
“So...this is fucking weird,” said the other Dean, a few less bags under his eyes than yours.
“Yeah, you’re telling us,” said your Dean, the other one nodding his head.
“Well, Y/N should be home from the store soon,” said the other Dean, chuckling when he saw you shake your head. “You can call me something else if it makes it easier for you to keep it all straight.”
“We could call him Red,” said Dean, smirking over at you.
“Oh come on,” you said, blushing as you looked at your lap. “Not in front of...”
“Red shirt of sex?” asked the other Dean, Red you figured you were going with.
“Yours does it too!” said Dean, the pair laughing to themselves. “Some things even time and space can’t contain.”
“It is a pretty lucky shirt,” said Red with a smile, grabbing your cup of coffee when the machine buzzed off. “Here you go.”
“Thanks,” you said, Red taking a deep breath. “What?”
“You guys smell weird is all,” he said, both your and Dean’s heads cocking. “I’ll uh, explain once Y/N gets home. She’s better at words and crap.”
“So...” said Dean, tapping his fingers on the nice kitchen table. “Nice house.”
“Built it myself,” said Red, stretching in his seat. “Took nearly a year. Y/N has the patience of a saint. I mean, it helped I had my crew of guys working on it but still, a track home would have been much easier to go with. You don’t get character when you go that route though.”
Dean just hummed, sipping from his cup as he gave you a look. You and Dean had never once thought about building a house or living in the suburbs or anything remotely close to that. Two childhoods worth of motel rooms were what you had, the bunker your home but even that was nothing like the place you were sat in.
“Thanks again for not shooting us when we popped up in your backyard,” you said with a smile, Red nodding.
“I really didn’t want to mow the lawn today anyways,” he said, eyes drawn to the back window where the rift had been. Something screwed up though. It shut almost immediately, trapping you and Dean in this other world until you could figure out how to hitch a ride back home. “What’s your guys world like again?”
“Looks just like this,” you said.
“Except we hunt monsters,” said Dean. Red raised an eyebrow but only took a long sip of coffee. “You’re not freaking out over that?”
“The freak out moment has passed for me,” he said. “Monsters...that’s intense.”
“Yup,” you and Dean said, thankful when you heard a sound come from the next room over.
“Excuse me,” said Red, standing up quickly, returning a moment later with a baby on his hip. “Hey pup, this is me and your mom from another universe. They hunt monsters...this is so totally going to sound insane to her when she gets back.”
“He’s so cute,” you said, standing up and taking a look at him.
“They have kids,” said Dean, running a hand through his hair.
“You guys don’t?” asked Red.
“Our lives aren’t what I’d call safe,” said Dean, Red nodding his head.
“I get you,” said Red, the front door opening somewhere else in the house.
“Alpha, I’m home! Can you get the heavy stuff out of the trunk?” you heard a voice eerily similar to your own shout.
“Coming Omega,” said Red, putting the baby in your arms. “Could you watch the pup for a minute?”
“Is it just me or do these guys have some weird names for stuff?” you asked, holding the smiling baby on your hip.
“He keeps calling his kid a pup. Like a puppy?” asked Dean, his eyes wide when you heard the floor creak behind you.
“Well, he did say there was some epically weird shit happening in the kitchen,” said another you, scratching her head with her free hand.
“Hi,” you said, the other you reaching for her baby. “I’m Y/N.”
“Yeah. Me too but I’m guessing you already knew that,” she said. “Is handsome over there, Dean?”
“Yeah, sweetheart,” said Dean.
“Oh, good,” she said, setting a bag on the counter. “This is completely normal.”
An hour later you were sat in the Winchester’s living room, Red and Lila, at least that was the name you’d decided on calling the other you for now, sitting down on another couch.
“Okay, so I have a question,” said Lila, Red tsking her. “We can’t smell you guys. What are you?”
“Huh?” you and Dean said, looking at one another.
“Well if you’re like us, Dean should be Alpha and Y/N Omega but you two smell flat, like nothing. It’s weird,” said Lila.
“I don’t think our dynamic exists where they come from, Omega,” said Red. Lila stared at you for a good long while before she stood up and threw her hair up in a bun, revealing a bite mark on her neck.
“This...” she said, pointing at the spot, “Is a claiming bite. Dean, er Red, gave it to me when we mated and he claimed me. You guys are saying you have none of that?”
“Dude, I know she likes a little nibble but don’t actually bite her,” said Dean, scrunching up his face at Red. “Don’t tell me you’re some kind of asshole.”
“Red’s being very patient with you right now so I’d back off,” said Lila.
“Relax,” said Red, wrapping his arms around Lila’s shoulders. “She’s getting close to heat. She gets a little protective during that time.”
“You should see this one on her period,” said Dean, pointing at you.
“Speaking of which, if we don’t get out of here soon, I’m going to need to borrow some stuff,” you said, Lila glancing up at Red. “Supplies?”
“Well...we might need to run to the store for you. I think...you guys are like Beta’s right now, even if you don’t smell like it. We can get you whatever you need,” said Red, Dean cocking his head.
“Explain this dynamic thing to us again cause right now, you two sound like a basket full of crazy,” said Dean.
“Says the guy that came through an inter-dimensional rift in my backyard?” asked Lila.
“Dammit, she really is like you,” muttered Dean, Lila smiling to herself.
“It’s pretty simple. We have six genders. A male and female version of the three dynamics, Alpha, Beta and Omega. Beta’s normally pair off together, leaving the Alpha’s and Omega’s to get together,” said Red.
“Yeah but...you bit her,” said Dean.
“Things are a bit more...animalistic here,” said Red, Dean’s face scrunching up. “Come here dude.”
Red got up from the couch, waving Dean to follow. They ducked around the corner, Dean back with wide eyes about ten seconds later.
“Okay, animalistic, got it,” said Dean, staring at his lap. “You’ve got a...fuck.”
“It’s a knot,” said Lila. “A lot of mammals have them actually.”
“Oh, that’s why the baby’s a pup,” you said, Lila smiling that it was starting to make sense to you...in a way.
“It used to be different and it’s still possible for life to be very dangerous for unclaimed Omega’s but Red’s an amazing Alpha to me,” said Lila.
“The Alpha protects it’s pack members or in this case, it’s family?” you asked, Red giving you a thumbs up.
“See? You got a smart one too. It’s not that difficult. The only truly dangerous part is when you’re unmated. But even then they have stuff to hide your scent and very few Alphas are actually bad. Our world is probably safer than yours from what you’ve told us,” said Red.
“I don’t understand the biting thing though,” you said, Dean nodding beside you.
“It’s a bond,” said Lila. “A permanent one. It’s like getting married but you can’t get divorced.”
“That seems...unethical,” you said, both Red and Lila scrunching up their faces.
“If you grew up in this world, you would understand it’s completely natural and safe. We’re partners, no matter what,” said Red. “Like how she was scared when she saw you two in the kitchen but because I knew it was safe, she knew it was safe. It’s a physiological bond down to your core.”
“You love her,” said Dean.
“Yes,” said Red. “She loves me and we’re very happy.”
“We should go,” you said, Dean already on his feet.
“You guys don’t-”
“Lila,” you said with a smile. “Our problem isn’t yours. We’ll find a way back to where we belong without interfering with your lives anymore. Thank you for explaining things to us but we’ll get out of your hair. It’s safer that way.”
“You guys know where we live if you change your mind,” said Red.
“Thanks,” said Dean, spinning back around. “Where do we get those supplies again?”
“A pharmacy, big box store, anywhere really,” said Red.
“Last question...do they have pie here?” asked Dean.
“Dude, the diner on Main...best pie ever,” said Red, already licking his lips.
“We’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks again.”
You and Dean got a few strange looks around the store, Dean standing closer than normal.
“What is wrong with you? Personal space, Dean,” you said, grabbing a box of tampons and pads, tossing them in a basket along with the few other things you’d picked out. You were used to living on the road so this wasn’t that big of a deal...if only Dean would back off of you.
“I don’t know, I just want to be close,” said Dean, snatching the basket from you and quickly paying.
You were halfway down the block to the diner Red had mentioned when Dean put a hand on his forehead.
“Dean? What’s wrong?” you asked, grabbing the bag as he leaned up against the wall. “Dean.”
“Talk about a late bloomer,” said a passerbyer, your glare making him shrug. “He’s starting to present. I never heard of someone that old going through it though.”
“Go away,” you said, Dean throwing his arm over your shoulders, half walking with you as you made your way out of town and back to the Winchesters place.
“Well I didn’t expect...” said Red, scrunching up his nose. “Oh shit. Y/N! We got a problem!”
Red grabbed Dean and started to drag him upstairs, tossing him on a bed as Dean groaned.
“Y/N, you need to go to the pharmacy. I need you to get a first time Alpha pack and Rut medicine. Tell the pharmacist and they will get it for you. Understand?” said Red, shoving his wallet in your hands. “My Y/N, can you get up here please?”
“First time Alpha pack and Rut medicine,” you said, eyes wide as Lila brushed past you and into Dean’s room. “What’s wrong with him?”
“His body is taking on a dynamic. It’s puberty for us basically. I didn’t think...just go and we’ll figure the rest out later,” he said. “Get the medicine and he’ll be okay.”
“Okay,” you said, Red tossing you his car keys.
“Make it fast.”
“Here,” you said twenty minutes later, Dean shouting into a pillow when you got back, Red standing by the door.
“Dean, Y/N got your medicine so...” said Red, Dean huffing and puffing when he saw you. “Dean...”
“She’s gonna turn too isn’t she,” said Dean, clutching at the pillow before it tore in half. “What the fuck?”
“You’re getting stronger, even stronger than you were. It’s an Alpha thing. Y/N, go down the street, dark green house. My Y/N and the pup are there,” said Red.
“I want to stay with Dean,” you said, an arm instantly slapped over the doorway.
“He’s going into his first rut with no idea how to control any of this. If he’s right and you start turning too, he’s gonna claim you without even thinking about it,” said Red. “Go now.”
“I don’t wanna go,” you growled, Dean shaking his head.
“Y/N,” said Dean, wrapping his arms around himself. “Do what he said. I can’t...I’m scared I’ll hurt you. Just go someplace safe for now.”
“He is trying his best not to come over here and take you so leave, now,” said Red.
“You better take care of him,” you said, heading down the stairs.
“I’ll get him through it. Trust me,” said Red.
You jogged outside and spotted a dark green house about a quarter mile down the road, a very pretty ranch with a front porch and two expensive cars in the driveway.
“Hey, Y/N,” said Lila, opening the front door for you. “Red called, he’s going to be dealing with Dean for a while so we’re going to keep an eye on you just in case.”
“Thanks,” you said, stepping inside the warm house, smelling fresh cookies in the air.
“Prepare yourselves for the weirdness,” said Lila, trotting along ahead of you.
“Oh it can’t be that weird,” said Sam as you turned the corner, watching him try to steal a cookie off the sheet, a woman you’d only ever seen in pictures swatting his hand away. “Jess, come on.”
“Wait until they’ve cooled off,” she chided, Sam rolling his eyes as he glanced in your direction.
“Wow. You weren’t kidding with the weird,” he said, walking over with a smile. “I’m-”
“Hi Sammy,” you said, wrapping your arms around him in a way too hard hug but not caring in the slightest.
“Hello other Y/N,” he teased, trying to break free, taking a breath when you finally pulled away. “You alright?”
“Yes. No,” you said, looking him up and down. “You look good, Sam. Sorry, I know you’re not...it’s just been a really hard few months.”
“Okay...” said Sam, Jess pouting beside him when she caught your face.
“Your Sam...” she said. “Oh shit. Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you said, Lila sighing.
“Her Sam’s gone, Sam,” she said, Sam making an odd noise.
“I’m sorry. This is probably pretty traumatizing then,” he said.
“I’ve seen weirder,” you said. “Dean and I...like I said, it’s been hard. We’ve lost a lot of friends and family recently. But Jess is alive so that’s awesome and did you seriously buy a house down the street from your brother?”
“Uh, he’s sort of pack leader,” said Sam.
“Oldest child is normally the pack leader,” said Lila. “We have our own houses but it’s normal for the family to live close to each other. Plus these guys have a pool.”
“How you feeling, hun?” asked Jess, putting a hand on your forehead. “She’s a little warm.”
“When was your period supposed to start?” asked Lila.
“Tomorrow,” you said, all three sharing a look. “Why...”
“I think Y/N’s going to start presenting soon,” said Jess. “Sammy, go help your brother with our new Alpha. It might take two of you to keep him there.”
“Keep him there? What the hell is Red doing to Dean?” you asked.
“He’s sort of stuck in that room until his rut passes. But if he’s in rut and you’re in heat, he’ll do anything he can to get here and claim you,” said Lila. “It’s best to keep you separated for the moment.”
“Lovely.”
It was close to midnight, Lila poking her head in the room you were staying in with a cranky baby in her arms.
“How you feeling?” she asked.
“Spectacular,” you groaned, Lila taking a seat on the edge of the bed. “I’m changing. I can feel it. I can smell it. I can smell you and that little guy and Jess and...I can even smell Dean down the street.”
“You’re Omega,” said Lila, patting your leg. “You and Dean need to be careful not to mate. I don’t know if whatever’s happening to you will become permanent.”
“Let me ask you a question,” you said, sitting up in bed, the pup turning his head towards you.
“You’re confused, aren’t you Drew? Mommy’s got a twin apparently,” she said, Drew tilting his head and reaching for you.
“How’d you convince your Dean to have one?” you asked, the baby grabbing a piece of your hair and pulling it in his mouth.
“He’s always wanted them,” she said with a smile. “Yours doesn’t?”
“We do but we can’t, not with our lives. We work in a high fatality industry if you want to call it that,” you said. “We wouldn’t do that to them.”
“Well you’re out of a job until we can get you back,” she said, taking Drew off of you. “Take the medicine I gave you again in the morning. It’ll help.”
“Why are you guys helping us?” you asked.
“We might not kick monsters asses on the regular but we do help people out when we can,” said Lila. “Get some rest. You need it, especially during your first heat.”
Three Days Later
“Hey,” you said, following Lila into her house, Dean sitting with Red and Sam in their family room.
“Damn, you smell good,” said Dean, taking a deep breath. “They said you turned too.”
“Yeah. Nothing’s too much different,” you said, Dean nodding his head. “You?”
“Plumbing’s got a new feature,” said Red with a smirk, Lila slapping him on the arm. “He’s an Alpha. He’s got a knot now.”
“What’s that like?” you said, Dean shifting in his seat. You could feel how nervous he was, trying to cover his lap with his hands. “You think I’ll reject you.”
“What the...” said Dean, your own eyes blinking fast at saying that aloud. “How could she...”
“It’s a mate thing,” said Red. “Y/N, Sammy’s been doing some research with Jess and they have a kind of crazy idea.”
“Crazy’s in our wheelhouse,” you said, walking over to sit next to Dean, taking one of his hands in yours.
You felt warmth spread throughout you, filling you up, nostrils inhaling what had been explained to you as Dean’s scent. Only he smelled like the best thing on earth and all you wanted were his teeth sinking into your neck. Sam picked you up and pulled you over to the other couch, Dean swallowing hard as you moved away.
“No touching,” said Sam in your ear, relaxing his hold on you as you realized you’d been squirming to get free. “The research we found was odd but we’re pretty sure that your rift thing will pop back open again. It’s been four days. You guys just need to last another three and then hopefully when you go home, you go back to normal.”
“I looked it over and it’s not exactly what I’d call reliable,” said Dean, crossing his arms. “As far as I can tell, magic, monsters, it doesn’t exist here. It’s an old wives tale Sam’s reading from about what’s probably not the rift.”
“But if magic doesn’t exist here, we can’t get back home,” you said.
“I know. I guess we have to wait and see if it was true.”
Three Days Later
“I can’t believe we’re back again,” you said, glancing around at the quiet bunker, Dean sighing beside you. “What?”
“I’m never going to see Sam again,” he said. “That wasn’t Sam back in there but it was and him and everyone else is gone again. Meanwhile, it’s me and you here, scraping by, giving up everything for nothing.”
“We hunt Dean. It’s what we do,” you said, wrapping your hand around his.
“I want to have a family with you. I want to have kids and a house and we will never, ever have those things here. We’re gonna sit in this bunker, working cases until one of us dies and that’s it. I know I will do this job until the day I die but I wanted a choice dammit and we will never get one,” said Dean. “Never.”
“I think we do have a choice, Dean,” you said, glancing back over your shoulder at the rift. “But we can’t undo it once we make it.”
“Go live there?” asked Dean, nodding behind himself. “What, we gonna play house? Pretend we aren’t screwed up?”
“Beats one of us dying and the other one drinking themselves to death,” you said. “We have saved so many people Dean. The world. This family has given up everything. I don’t want to leave either but we barely have anything left to fight in this place. A monster here or there. Other hunters can handle it. All of our friends and family are in that world and they aren’t ours but think of how they treated us the past week.”
“Like we were family,” said Dean quietly, rubbing his hands over his face.
“I think our friends, our family, they’d want us to be happy again,” you said.
“Say we go back though, I’m stuck as an Alpha and you’re Omega,” said Dean.
“Even in this world, you smell amazing,” you said. “We don’t know if we’ll go back to normal.”
“I still feel like an Alpha,” said Dean, taking a deep breath. “All I want to do is be somewhere safe with you.”
“What do you want to do then?” you asked.
“I say we pack our bags.”
You were blinking furiously a few hours later, Dean panting hard as his hands gripped the steering wheel.
“Fuck!” you heard outside the car, your head whipping to the right to see Red dropping a hose and storming over.
“Hi Red,” you said, slipping out of the car, Red shaking his head.
“Did you bring a freaking car through your magic rift thingy? Why are you even back here? I thought we fixed it,” said Red.
“We uh,” said Dean, looking over to watch the rift close up once and for all. “We sort of moved universes.”
“Okay...” said Red, Dean climbing back in to pull the Impala around to the front of the house and in the street. “You realize saying both Y/N and I had long lost identical twins we never knew about is never going to fly, right?”
“Just say we were out of town, traveling the world,” you said. “Dean and I just wanted to stop by and say hi before we take off. We can find our own quiet corner to hide away in.”
“As pack members, you’re supposed to live close by,” said Red, crossing his arms.
“But we’re not in your pack,” you said.
“Not yet. You will be though,” said Red, kicking at the ground. “Unless you think we’re too weird for you guys with the dynamic thing.”
“I’m pretty sure Dean and I are the freaks around here,” you said, Red nodding his head.
“Well, come inside. We should go over the dynamic crap in a bit more detail now that you’ll be living it.”
“You know what,” said Dean, nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck later that night. Red and Lila had taken Drew over to his parent’s house to spend the night, having their own date night and saying they’d catch up in the morning.
“What,” you sighed, running your hand up and down his back, his new scent coming off his bare back in strong waves, making you warm and calm.
“I’d like to claim you if that’s alright with you,” said Dean.
“You can,” you said, turning your head so Dean lifted his own to look at you.
“Are you sure? Brand new universe, plenty of Alphas in the sea,” he teased.
“I want this one,” you said, putting a hand on his chest. “Red explained it to you?”
“Yeah. I mean, it’s pretty much sex up until the claiming part and instinct will take over,” said Dean. “If you’re ready for that.”
“I’m ready for it. Alpha,” you said, Dean taking a deep breath. “Why doesn’t that sound as corny as it did a week ago?”
“I don’t know, Omega,” said Dean, a smile spreading across your face. “But it damn sure feels right.”
“Oh,” you said, a blush on your cheeks at the sudden wetness between your legs. “Lila mentioned that might happen.”
“Get out of those underwear, Omega. We’re doing this.”
Two Months Later
“You didn’t tell me your Dean was a handyman,” said Lila, sitting on a lawn chair, watching Drew play on his mat in the grass as the boys walked around the freshly dried foundation of your new house.
“He’s good at a lot of things. He knows more about cars than houses but he’ll put in as much manual labor as he can,” you said, Drew crawling over to tug on your leg. “It’s Aunt Y/N, handsome. Here’s your mommy.”
“I think the twins want you,” said Lila, laughing as Dean and Red cocked their heads over at you. At a quick glance, most people assumed they were twins but it was easy for you to spot the differences. Red wasn’t quite as bowlegged and had no tattoo on his chest. Dean had more freckles and his shoulders looked broader, at least to you.
“Boys,” you said, Dean walking on the subfloor to somewhere around the middle of the house. “Yes?”
“We have a disagreement on the layout,” said Red. “Dean wants a little library room which is cool and Lila will be super jealous that I didn’t think of one for her but why’s it got to go in the middle? Wouldn’t you prefer it to be on the edge of the house with a window seat? Or a nice big cubby to put a day bed in?”
“Library, huh?” you asked, Dean smirking to himself. “Make it a large hall way, double sided bookcases on each side, maybe some big comfy chairs in the middle, a coffee table. It’s more of a pass through that way and you’ll still get the light from the back windows.”
“That’s actually a really good idea,” said Red. “Any other tidbits of wisdom you want to spout off?”
“Make it feel like home,” you said, Dean smiling.
“We will. We definitely will.”

Physio’s Daughter Pt 8
Read the other 7 parts HERE
Warnings: cursing, suggestions to sex, mentions of throwing up, that should be it!
WC: 4.8k
A/N: hello 👋
“Really? You still have interest?” Jessie looks baffled, her eyes wide with raised eyebrows.
“Oh don’t act so surprised, you saw me staring earlier.”
“Yeah I did.” She smiles, thinking back to how she had intentionally wiped her forehead while facing in your direction. She was more than pleased with herself when she put back down her shirt to see you had been watching.
“Look, you said terrible things, and if anything even remotely close to that happens again, I will never speak to you again. But Jessie I really like you. I want to give you a second chance even though maybe I shouldn’t but I’d like to believe what you and Janine both said is true. This isn’t your typical behavior, you’re just under a lot of pressure.”
“I promise I’m not usually like this.”
“I know, that’s why I like you. But that’s also why this is so frustrating and why the other night hurt me so much. I know you’re not usually like this, I know how kind and caring and sweet you are. And if it wasn’t for all this, the fact that we work together, in this dynamic, I would’ve asked you out on a proper date weeks ago.” It’s true, if you haven’t worked with her, if you’d met her at school, at a cafe, just walking down the street, you would’ve already taken her out. You would’ve asked her on dates, but you couldn’t, not when you worked together.
“Then fuck all this,” she gestures to the room and the Canada logo on her own training top. “Just ask anyway.”
“I don’t want to get you or myself in trouble.” You look at the logo on her shirt, it wasn’t that easy to just say fuck it to the team, the team Jessie had represented since she was 15.
“We can talk to whoever we need to.” She spits out.
“Oh be for real Jessie we haven’t even gone on a date, we don’t need to be in Helen’s office signing paperwork already.” You give her a smile, it was nice she was willing to talk to Helen but a little too early.
A smile breaks on Jessie’s face. “Okay, maybe that was a little premature.” The smile from her face fades as she speaks again. “So, maybe we go with the original plan? Wait until these games are over, see where we’re at?”
You nod in agreement. “But for now, coworkers.”
“Coworkers.” Jessie repeats looking at you before a mischievous smile comes across her face.
“What?” You ask, somewhat afraid of what her answer might be.
“This is I think the third time we’ve agreed to be coworkers.” She scoffs.
“No, this time I’m serious.” You do your best to give her a stern look.
“You said that last time.” She laughs
“Shut up.” You can’t help but laugh with her, you two were terrible at being coworkers.
“At least it’s only a few more days and one more game.” She says softly after she’s done giggling.
“Only one more game.”
You quickly found yourself getting ready for that final game. The reality that you were helping prep players for an Olympic gold medal match had you a little extra nervous. Canada was taking on Spain. Reigning World Cup Champions Spain.
The first 90’ minutes of the game felt like they went by in a blink. When the whistle blew the score remained 0-0. Both teams had good shots, both keepers making impressive saves.
The extra time came and went as well and suddenly you felt like you were back a few days ago.
Penalties. Again.
You watch the first few players step up. Julia makes her penalty 1-0, a Spain player makes her’s as well, 1-1. Feeling overwhelmed, you stare at the ground for the next few players. You watch your feet, you don’t even need to watch. You can hear the silence followed by the kick and you get the answer on save or miss through the reactions of the staff standing next to you. Chloe misses, 1-1, Spain makes theirs 1-2, Jordyn makes it 2-2, a player from Spain misses 2-2, Ashley makes her kick, and the Spanish player misses wide, 3-2.
You feel a quick pinch at your side where your Mom’s hand was resting around your waist. You look up to her and she subtly nods toward the field. You turn and watch as Jessie picks up the ball. You can practically feel the air get sucked out of your lungs. She was taking Canada’s fifth and final kick. If she makes it, it’s over. If she misses, Spain has the chance to tie.
You watch her meticulously place the ball, adjusting it a few times. Once she’s satisfied with the ball, she takes three steps back, and looks down, closing her eyes for a moment. You held your breath, beginning to subconsciously time how long she was waiting. You started to panic, feeling like you could puke, it felt like she was waiting too long again, or maybe it just felt like time had frozen. Jessie opened her eyes, and began her approach. She kicked it and you watched as the ball slammed against the back of the net.
You’re practically yanked onto the field by those around you, you’re not even sure where you were running besides the mass of red and white in front of you. You end up in the mob of bodies, receiving random hugs from whoever was around you. You kept your eyes scanning hoping to find Jessie, her height not helping her stand out. You also know she’s likely in the middle of the mass of her teammates, scoring the winning penalty.
As the initial celebration dies down, the players begin to spread out. Some find their families in the crowd, others moving to sit and soak in the moment. You keep your eyes scanning, hoping to find the girl with the armband.
While you’re busy spinning in circles looking for her, someone grabs your hand from behind.
“Come here.” The captain had found you before you could find her. Jessie grabs your hand, pulling you out and away from the crowd. The two of you move over to the side of the pitch, not far off from her teammates but enough to be in your own space. She turns you toward her, dropping your hand.
“I thought about you.” She says, tears in her eyes, her hands holding your face between them, her thumbs gently rubbing your cheeks. “I thought about you when I took that kick. You were my calm person.”
“I almost threw up.” You admit to her.
“What?” Jessie says, a mix of concern and a smile across her face. Her hands are still on your cheeks.
“I was so nervous watching you kick.”
“Oh.” She laughs. “You’re the reason I wasn’t nervous.” You’re grateful Jessie was able to quickly move past the fact that you had almost thrown up from nerves, embarrassed that you even said it to her.
“Congratulations, you deserve it Jessie.” You say, finally getting out the words you prepared and meant to say when you first saw her.
“I wouldn’t have been here without you, you deserve this too.” Her eyes are still locked with yours. You both stand listening to the rest of the team celebrate behind you. You both break eye contact hearing some screaming getting louder.
“Wooooooooo” you watch as Janine goes running by, a flag in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other hand with Jordyn and Julia following shortly behind her yelling to give them back the bottle. You watch as Jessie rolls her eyes at her teammate’s behavior. You both turn back toward each other. This time Jessie’s eyes move down to your lips, then to your eyes and back to your lips. She moves her head slightly toward you.
“Jessie.” You warn her, you don’t want her to stop but you want to remind her that you’re both standing in a packed stadium with hundreds of cameras taking photos.
“Who cares.” She whispers before she starts to lean in again. You start to close your own eyes, not leaning in, wanting this to be her choice to kiss you in front of her team, her coaches, her family that was likely here.
“Congratulations Jessie.” You hear a voice you know all too well to the side of you. One of your Mom’s hands coming down on your shoulder while the other comes down on Jessie’s shoulder. You feel a slight push back on you, breaking up how close you and Jessie were.
Jessie’s hands fall from your face as she turns to look at your Mom.
“Oh, um, thank you, hey congratulations to you too, none of us would be here without all your hard work.”
“Thank you Jessie, assuming you were just thanking my daughter as well?” Your Mom gives you a quick glance, you know she’s teasing both of you, Jessie doesn’t get the message, trying to explain herself.
“Yeah, of course. I mean, she’s been great, um obviously, with my injury of course, my calf, she helped me a lot. I was thanking her for all that.” The way Jessie starts to stutter, tripping over her words as she tries to subtly deny the fact that she was about to kiss you, it was cute. You’re sure if she wasn’t already red in the face from playing, her cheeks would be from embarrassment.
“Hey if I don’t see you again before you players go out tonight, be safe, look out for each other.”
“We will.” Jessie assures your Mom before she walks away leaving you two again.
“She really has impeccable timing doesn’t she.” Jessie looks at you.
“She does.” You say before muttering “cockblock” under your breath only it comes out a little bit louder than you expected.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
You both stand for a second, your chance to kiss clearly over as you’ve both been brought back to reality of standing in the stadium, Jessie’s teammates still running around. You watch as she scans the crowd before her head stops moving and she waves.
“There’s my family.” She points in the direction she waved in and you see a small group of people waving back at her.
“Go.” You shove her in their direction and she looks at you giving you one last smile before taking off running in their direction. You watch her, looking at the back of her jersey as she runs away to be pulled into a group hug. You turn back to go find the rest of the staff, giving your congratulations to whoever you passed in a Canada shirt as they did the same back to you.
The stadium is soon only filled with a sea of red, the Spain supporters leaving. The podiums are brought out at you watch as they begin to set up for the medal ceremony.
The team is quickly ushered back into the changing rooms put on their designated podium outfits. They quickly come back out, lining up to step up and receive their medals.
You stand off to the side, watching as France steps onto the bronze medal platform, followed by Spain. And then you watch as the Canadian team steps up. You can’t help but feel tears in your eyes, watching the girls that you’ve been working with for countless days helping at training, at matches, helping them stretch on the bus or in a hotel room, all those moments, all they had worked for and they did it. You watched as they got their medals Jessie receiving hers from Janine and putting one around Sabrina’s neck.
You watched as Jessie picked up the medal around her neck, examining it with her hands, flipping it around. You watch as Janine leans over, saying something into Jessie’s ear, Jessie immediately picking up her head and looking in your direction. She gives you a smile when her eyes meet yours. Janine must’ve noticed you staring and told her. You give her a thumbs up before they begin playing all the national anthems.
Once the ceremony is finished you stand around a bit longer, watching all the players soak in the moment together. You find yourself catching Jessie’s eye every once in a while until she finally makes her way over to you.
“You’re coming out with us, right?” She slings an arm around your shoulder.
“Tonight?”
“Obviously, we’re going to go celebrate, we’ve got a bar rented out.” You had heard discussions of the post game celebrations, but never really read into them too much, you didn’t want to get too ahead of yourself thinking they’d win, it felt like you’d jinx them.
“I don’t want to intrude, if it’s a player thing.”
“It’s not, everyone’s invited, coaches, staff, families, everyone.” Jessie turns so her lips are against your ear. “Plus, I want you to be there.” She says quietly. You feel your skin prickle at her low voice and the feeling of her breath on your body.
You stumble over your own words as you agree to meet them at the bar later, your brain short circuiting from the feeling of her lips against your ear. “Oh, then yeah I’ll be there.”
You quickly found yourself a couple drinks in, courtesy of the Canadian foundation, in a rather large, but dark bar. Loud music and conversation filling the air. You had only arrived about an hour ago, thankfully it was within walking distance from the hotel. You had gone back and changed into a nicer pair of gray jeans and a simple Canada sweatshirt. Since you opted to change you did not arrive at the same time as Jessie, you had been unable to find her since arriving. You felt like you were back searching for her on the field after the match. Most of the players had remained in their sweatsuits, some changing into other t-shirts, sweatpants. You had found just about every other player, who all led you astray in which direction they last saw their captain.
You make your way back to the bar to get another drink, deciding you’ll just go sit with Olivia and the rest of the staff at the table they had occupied.
“Hey, where have you been?” You feel hands grab tightly onto your hips and you turn to see the brown eyes you’ve been looking for.
“Hi, I changed.” You gesture down to the fact that you were no longer wearing athletic clothing like you did while at work. “but I’ve been here an hour or so, I’ve been running around looking for you.”
“I’ve been looking for you.” Her eyes graze over your body. “You look good.” You can smell the alcohol radiating off of Jessie you’re not sure if it’s alcohol she’s consumed or if it’s just a mix of the champagne that was sprayed across her skin in celebration along with the smell of the bar. Her hands are still firm on your hips. “Come here.” She gently tugs you away from the bar.
“Hang on, let me grab this.” You reach for the beer the bartender had placed in front of you and then let yourself be pulled away.
She moves to grab your free hand instead and keeps pulling you, through the mass of red and white, back to the back corner of the bar and into a small hallway.
“Where are we going?” You ask when she finally stops walking.
“Here, where it’s just you and me.” Her hands find their way back to your hips and she pushes you back so you’re against the cool brick wall. “So we can do this.”
Her hand comes up to your cheek as it did after the game, but this time it doesn’t stop at your cheek she keeps moving it to the back of your neck, gently pulling you toward her and she moves in. This kiss was different than the rest, the rest had been timid, soft, gentle. This kiss was firm, her lips starting to move against yours immediately, its only a few seconds before you feel her tongue against your lips. You part your lips and let your own tongue graze against hers. You get the answer to your earlier question as you can taste the tequila and what you think is vodka on her tongue. The taste has you pulling back.
“Hey.” Jessie protests, a frown across her face.
“Are you drunk?” You put your hand without the beer against her chest, holding her back from leaning in to kiss you again.
“What?” She cooks her head at you.
“Are you just making out with me because you’re drunk? I can taste the liquor.”
“No you idiot, I mean yes I’ve been drinking, but I’m not drunk, plus I’ve wanted to makeout with you for weeks.”
“Okay but we’re in public. You team could see.” It’s not that you don’t believe her when she says she’s not drunk, it’s just you couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy with her choices to suddenly makeout with you in a bar, knowing she had definitely consumed something.
“I don’t care.”
“Jessie, no.” You step away from her..
“What? Oh come on? Because I’ve had three drinks? How many have you had?” She posed a fair question, she had had just as many drinks of you but you had been at the bar for far less time, if anyone was the problem here it would’ve been you.
“I just think you’re not fully considering the consequences of making out with me in a public bar. When you’re sober, we can do this.”
She leans down close to you and you think she’s going to kiss you again, but she brings her mouth toward your ear. “Okay, then I’m done drinking because I want to makeout with you. I promise I’m not drunk, not even tipsy, but if you want to wait that’s fine.”
“Okay.” You reply and Jessie turns walking back into the room. You follow her and watch as she makes her way to the bar, when she turns back she has two bottles of water in her hands.
“You should drink if you want to drink, it’s your night to celebrate.” You say when she comes over to your side, shaking one of the bottles of water at you. You don’t want to be the reason she doesn’t celebrate.
“No, I’m not a big drinker anyway, I had already decided to be done, I just got peer pressured into some shots with some of the youngsters when I first got here.” She takes a large sip of water.
“Jessie.” Your conversation is interrupted by hearing someone call from behind you and a girl runs up to her followed by two other men and a woman.
“Hi! Oh I’ve miss you.” Jessie takes the girl into a tight hug before releasing her and moving onto the next person hugging the next person.
“We’re so proud of you honey!”
“Thanks Mom.” Jessie mutters into the women’s hug. That's when you’re able to make the connection, this was Jessie’s family standing in front of you.
“This is my family, my mom, dad, sister and brother.” She points to each person. She introduced her family to you. She starts explaining how you’ve helped her with her injuries, and how you help everyone with stretching and staying healthy. She’s singing your praises to her family, making you blush standing next to her.
You stick around for a couple minutes as Jessie continues to talk about you. Not wanting to force her family to listen to stories about you, you tell Jessie you’ll be over at a table and leave her to enjoy the moment with her family.
You slide into a booth next to Janine and a few other people you didn’t know, assumed friends and family of the team. It doesn't take long for Janine to bring up the topic of Jessie.
“Just so you know,” Janine claps her hand hard against your back, giving you a slight shake. She leans in close to you. “I’m spending tonight, and probably the rest of the nights we’re here in his hotel room.” She points at the man next to you who now you recognize from photos to be her fiancé. “So there won’t be someone else in Jessie’s room.” You pull back to just look at her, you couldn’t believe what she was implying.
Janine must’ve thought you didn’t understand what she was suggesting when you didn’t respond. “Ya know, if you and a certain someone want to-”
“I know what you meant!” You spit out quickly. Taking a sip of the water you had. Upon your snappy response Janine quickly changed the subject, eying up the medal around her neck again, showing it to her fiancé.
It wasn’t long before you felt the booth sag next to you and Jessie alone with her sister found themselves next to you in the booth.
“Elysse!” Janine exclaims reaching over you and Jessie to attempt to hug the girl. Both of them leaning in pushes you and Jessie practically into each others laps.
“Sorry.” You apologize to Jessie, it wasn’t your fault but you felt like you were squishing her.
“All good.” She gives you a sweet smile before returning to her own personal space as Janine removes herself from across you two.
“Hey.” she slaps Jessie’s leg getting her attention. “I just finished telling this one that-” You almost go to cover Janine’s mouth with your hand. You know she’s been drinking and you also knew what was about to come out of her mouth. But you don’t stop her, instead you tilt your head down clenching your eyes hoping it’ll stop Janine’s words, only it doesn’t. “I’ll be in Ethan’s hotel room the rest of the trip, if you want to use it.”
“Oh.” You can feel Jessie’s eyes burning into the side of your head as you slowly open your eyes and send a pointed look in Janine’s direction.
“What?” She says, reading the uncomfortable looks you and Jessie were both giving her. “Oh what, do you two really think you’re doing such a good job of keeping it secret? You were practically making bedroom eyes at each other during the medal ceremony today.”
“Janine!” Jessie shouts at her friend before just shaking her head. You finally have the courage to take a glance at Jessie, her eyes are wide, she looks uncomfortable, you can also see her sister behind her looking between you and Jessie, trying to stifle a laugh.
“Alright, it might be time to get you out of here.” Janine’s fiancé says, grabbing Janine’s hand as he stood up. He gives a quick wave at the table, half as an apology, half as a goodbye. You all wave back to him and Janine and they walk into the mass of people.
You sat for a little bit longer, some teammates coming to join your table for a few minutes to chat before they’d run off to talk with someone else. It was only an hour later that Jessie’s Dad found his way to the table. “Jess, we’re going to get out of here, it’s late and we’re not young anymore, we’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yeah of course.” Jessie responds, she smacks your leg a few times then pointing to the side of you. You get the hint and stand up to let her out of the table. You watch as she stands up giving her Dad a tight hug.
“Coming now or later?” Her Dad looks at Jessie’s sister.
“Now, just give me a second to use the restroom.” She nods and her Dad walks away after they agree to meet outside.
“I don’t have to pee, I just wanted him to walk away. You two enjoy your night without Janine.” She says with a wink and a look between the two of you. You look over to Jessie who’s sporting a blushed red face. Her sister stands up to hug her and whispers something into Jessie’s ear, making her turn even more red. She gives you a quick wave and heads in the direction of the door.
“I think I’m going to call it a night too, feeling tired.” You say, suddenly feeling the exhaustion of the day hit you all at once. A yawn coming out of your mouth.
“I was actually thinking the same thing.” Jessie flashes you a smile. “Would you want to walk together?” You’re not sure if Jessie actually was ready to go or just decided she was going to leave since you were.
“That would be nice.” You take the empty water bottle from her hand and toss it onto the bin with yours. “Do you need to say bye to anyone?” Jessie just shakes her head.
“Do you?” You shake your head back. Your Mom had gone out with some of the older training staff, not wanting to be in a rowdy bar, Olivia was still around but you’d text her later letting her know you were back in your room. You’re not sure even if you said goodbye to anyone if they’d remember it in the morning or not.
The night was quiet when you stepped outside of the bar, Jessie shortly behind you. You start walking in the direction of the hotel and she quickly jogs to catch up. The two of you walk side by side down the roadway.
“Does it feel different the second time?” You break the silence asking.
“Does what feel different?” Her pace slows down as she turns her head to look at you.
“Winning gold.”
You hear her breathe in and then watch as she tilts her head slightly, deep in thought.
“It’s different, but I’m not sure if it's the winning that’s different. Last time it was an empty stadium, we didn’t get to do the celebrations with family and friends, there weren’t people watching, it felt so isolated, but it was in a weird way more peaceful. We got to just sit on the field, really soak it in.” She took another breath. “We didn’t get to do that, even if we could’ve there would’ve been fans, it would’ve been rowdy. Not to say one is better than the other, but yeah it’s different. I also wasn’t captain last time, so this time was more stressful, I felt like a lot of it was on me. Even though I know it wasn’t, it just felt that way.”
You hum acknowledging her answer as you walk into the lobby of the hotel. It’s thankfully pretty empty, Jessie's teammates still out celebrating and only a few other country’s athletes sitting around. You both get into the elevator, you press the button and you can feel a tension building as you ride up in silence. When you get out you walk Jessie to her door first, wanting to be polite and make sure she gets in alright.
“I’m sorry if Janine made it weird earlier. I'm not sure why she said that. I mean I get it but, I don’t want you to think I told her that was going to happen or anything. I don’t expect it to.” Jessie turns before she puts her keycard to the door.
“It’s all good. Little uncomfortable, especially with your sister there but it’s alright.” You shrug. It was uncomfortable but you didn’t mind too much, you had already forgotten about the conversation until Jessie brought it up again.
“Yeah, I’m sure I’ll have to explain myself to her later, she thought it was funny, she teased me for how red I got.”
“Yeah.” You both stand awkwardly outside of Jessie’s hotel room, you shift your weight between your feet, swaying slightly.
“Um, do you want to-”
“Have a goodnight-”
You both speak at the same time.
“Go ahead.” She gestures to you.
“I was just going to say goodnight.” You didn’t want to invite yourself into her hotel room despite Janine’s offer.
“Oh, yeah okay.” You can tell she seems a little disappointed.
“What were you saying?”
“I was going to invite you in?” Jessie looks up at you, her eyes with a glimmer of hope in them. She blinks quickly a few times before adding “Only if you want to, you don’t have to, I’m not expecting anything, you don’t even have to stay very long if you don’t want to, I just thought,”
“Jessie.” You cut her off, able to tell she was starting to overthink by the way her hands were fidgeting. “I’d like to come in.” You say before you lean down, now it’s her back pressed against the wall as your lips find hers. You pull away before any of her teammates or god forbid your mother decides to take a trip down the hallway and sees you two. Jessie turns to unlock the door and you follow her inside. You pull your phone out quickly texting Olivia.
You: Probably not coming back to the room at all tonight, or if I do it’ll be late, don’t worry about me I’m safe.
It takes a minute but she responds.
Olivia: Thanks for the heads up, I expect all the details of your escapades tomorrow
Olivia: seriously though, be safe, don’t do anything stupid.
You look up from your phone over at Jessie, thinking to yourself at least if you “do” anything, it wasn’t considered doing anything stupid, Jessie was smart.

Part 2 of "Sorry I can't tonight" Where plastics take care of reader?
Sorry, I Can't Tonight part 2
part 1 ||
|| poly!plastics x fem!reader
|| Warnings; short drabble, fluffy, little swearing, brief hints of smut, no dialogue
|| Summary; the girls bring reader to Regina's place and take care of her for the night.
Requests open!
Started; october 27th
Finished; october 27th
~~~
The girls got you to Regina's home, Gretchen took you over to the couch with Karen happily skipping over. The two of them sat down on either side of you, Gretchen had her arms wrapped comfortably around you while Karen laid across both of your laps.
Regina however made her way to the kitchen. Digging through the cupboards to see what kind of comfort snacks her mom had gotten recently. She remembered what yours was and was silently relieved when she found it. That was probably the first time in a long time she'd ever actually thanked her mom for something. But it stayed in her head because she would never say that out loud.
She walked over to the three of you and handed you your snack, your eyes lit up the moment you saw it. You looked at Regina, making grabby hands at her. Wanting to give her a kiss. Regina rolled her eyes, trying to seem unbothered and neutral. Internally she thought it was the cutest thing. She leaned down, letting you pull her into a kiss as her hand came up and cupped your cheek.
Gretchen made a small 'aw' sound as she watched the two of you. She loved the softer side of Regina. It was proof that no matter how snappy or bitchy she could be, deep down.. there was a part of her that did care. Even if she tried really hard not to show it.
Regina sat down on the couch next to you, letting Karen rest her legs on her as she now sprawled across the three of you. Your hand absentmindedly played with Karen's fingers while you and the girls chatted. Gretchen going on about latest drama and pop culture moments, Regina would put in her not so kind opinions about it all. You occasionally tossed in a few one liners or your own pop culture moments you'd seen on tiktok recently. Karen kind of just vibed, watching Gretchen for the most part. It was nice. A much needed change in atmosphere from the intense study sessions you'd been doing all week. This was what you would have liked to have done more. Take the breaks you needed to spend time with your girlfriends. Listening to them reminded you of just how much you loved them.
As the night got later, the four of you switched up spots and went up to Regina's room. Getting your nightly routines done. Showering, brushing teeth, drinks of water, last checks on phones, etc. Whatever it is you normally do. Then you all got settled into Regina's bed once pjs were on and Regina grabbed her remote. Putting a movie on the TV. Though you all only watched the first bit of it, getting distracted by each other the rest of the night.
Taking care // Jessie Fleming
kinda pt. 2 of Protective Moms
a/n: based off this request.
"Tobs, I can walk on my own" you whined, the striker supporting you. "I have broken nose, nothing more"
"And a serious concussion"
You grumbled but you had no other choice, Tobin wouldn‘t leave your side until your body was laid down in your bed. "Can I at least have my phone back?"
"Ask Christen"
Back at your room you laid down, Tobs placed a glass of water on your nightstand before she tucked you under the duvet. "How shall I ask her when she isn’t here?"
"That‘s not my problem, we‘ll check up on you later." the forward then left the room, ready to go to training. (She tried to tell the coach that she had to watch you and take care of you but as soon as you heard that you argued with her, that you‘re old enough, etc. which she only half-heartedly accepted)
A long sigh left your throat.
-
"Jess is pretty amazing, isn‘t she?" you smiled as you went to breakfast with Chris and Tobs. "She‘s alright" said Tobin while Christen answered, "She’s such a sweetheart." As you had your breakfast on your plate you walked towards the table where Sonnett, Kelley and Alex sat. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through your head, it throbbed and spun then went black. You passed out.
Everything seemed fine so far, your nose was broken but otherwise nothing to notice from the concussion. Yesterday, Chris, Tobin, Jess and you were out for a 'parents meet kids girlfriend' date and you were your usual self.
Well, until now. The plate shattered across the floor, your body hitting the floor with a 'humpf'. Christen was the first by your side, rapidly and firmly patting your cheek, with no luck in waking you - you were knocked out while Tobin ran around the hotel searching for someone from the physio team, a doc, anyone.
-
That‘s how you ended up for the rest of the day and the next few days in your bed with no phone and no remote to turn the tv on, strict guidelines: Rest, rest, rest! Tobin took the doc very serious, she wouldn‘t risk more damage. The little meet up with your girl was already to much after the knock from Chapman. Even though the moms where at training they made sure you had everything, a bottle of water beside your bed and painkillers next to it, just in case.
Meanwhile Jess was going crazy. Why hadn‘t you replied to her texts? Did the moms forbid you to contact her? Oh god, they didn‘t like her?! She tried to call you over and over, your phone ringing in Chris‘ bag as she was doing drills with her team mates.
"You good, Jess?" Sinc asked the young canadian as she saw how she was biting her lip nervously, her fingers playing with the hem of her hoodie.
"Huh? Yeah! I‘m fine" the midfielder replied. She wasn't convincing so Sinc took a seat beside her. She nudged the shoulder of the young canadian, silently asking what‘s wrong. "She isn‘t answering" she admitted, her ears turning red, "the only text she sent was a good morning which was hours ago"
"So? Maybe she‘s at training?"
"No, no. She has to be in bed because of her concussion"
"Well then, maybe she‘s sleeping" the older woman tried to ease Jessie‘s mind but with no success, she could see that her brain was working on high speed, trying to figure out what‘s wrong. "I just feel like something is off, you know? Like something happened."
The only thing Christine could do now was support her, "If you think someting is off then go to her." a big smile spread across the face of the small canadian "you think?"
"If you don‘t, you have to wait until she answers"
-
Knocking on your door, Jess was nervous. Shortly after her talk with Sinc the midfielder went to your hotel, it took her some time but she made it. She didn‘t know why she was nervous, you were her girlfriend after all yet the thought of an angry Tobin Heath opening the door was scary. Her knock wasn‘t too loud, she didn‘t want to make your headache worse though the knock was loud enough to be heard. "Hello?" you rasped out as you opened the door. "Hi" your girl said, shuffling with her feet.
"What‘re you doing here?" you looked down the hall before you pulled her in to her room. "You didn‘t answer my texts" you chuckled as you placed yourself back on the bed. "I don‘t have my phone," patting the spot next to you to signal her she should join you. "Why?" She asked, taking her shoes off, joining you. Immediately, your head rested on her chest as her arms wrapped around you. "Chris has it and the remote as well. I‘m so bored, you can‘t even imagine," you stated, melting in the embrace of your lover. "I get that, baby, but why?" While lips were pressed against your forehead, you answered, "strict doc rules 'cause I passed out. Tobin is being overprotective" in to her chest, slowly getting tired. The whole day, you‘d been laying around, doing nothing yet couldn‘t sleep but with your lovers arms around the tiredness started to set in. "You passed out?" The midfielder asked shocked, she knew something was off. "Yeah, i‘m alright though, just need to rest" your eyes shutting at the end of your sentence. "I love you" was the last thing you said before you fell in to deep slumber.
Freshly showered, the team got back to the hotel, Chris and Tobs already on her way to your room. As they opened the door and stepped in to the room, they could see the brunette you were hugging, both of you deep and fast asleep. Christen laughed softly; the two of you couldn‘t be away from each other. Even Tobin smiled, seeing you like this. Normally, she would have gone all protective but something in her was telling her that she was seeing the right thing, Jess was the right 'thing'
"They‘re adorable" said person stated, slinging her arm around the dark haired women who could only agree.
Sleeping in your lovers arms will always be the best kind of recovery.
Her babysitter
"Thank you so much for letting her stay with you for a few days Pablo! Promise it won't be longer than a week sweetheart!" your mom said petting your head and you rolled your eyes feeling once again 'dumped' to the side because of some 'important business trip'.
"Yeah right!" you snarled walking away and Pablo looked after you with clenched jaw feeling guilty for noticing the way your perky butt bounces as you stomp away.
"No problem. I have a free week anyways!" Pablo said while escorting them out and walking back to the living room where you already grabbed a tub of ice cream and ate it with a spoon.
"I see you already found my secret tub of ice cream, huh preciosa? Do you mind sharing some with me??" Pablo said looking at you while you licked the spoon feeling his pants tighten. Damn it! He needed to get it out of his head at once but it was no use!
"Mhm.." you said moving towards him and dipping your spoon into the half melted vanilla ice cream before bringing it into his mouth. Pablo was took by surprise but took it nevertheless thinking about how good it tasted especially with a hint of 'you' in it.
"It's really delicious but you shouldn't eat too much and ruin the dinner" he said taking the spoon away with the tub and you rolled your eyes calling him annoying.
"Seriously!? Enough with the eye rolls! Good girls don't behave that way.." he whispered the last part into your ear you felt your skin fill with goosebumps in response. You might hate the fact that your parents constantly dump you places..but when it was at your handsome neighbors house, you don't exactly mind that much.
You always hated how he would act like you're a child just because you're 16 and he turned 19 recently! But now he was calling you a good girl..maybe things changed??
After dinner, you were sipping on some apple juice while he put the dishes in the washing machine. He was usually shirtless around the house and your eyes were enjoying the way his muscles would flex with every movement he made.
Then it came to mind..be his good girl and see the reaction?
"Thank you for the dinner Pablo.." you said shyly and he raised his head up and looked at you with a small smile plastered on his handsome face.
"Of course! Do you want to watch a movie before going to bed??" he asked and you jumped in excitement rushing to pick something while he chuckled walking after you.
"I want to watch this one! It's the newest horror movie that came out!!" you said but Pablo already saw the trailer and thought it was not a very good idea.
"This is not the time for that movie preciosa..maybe something less scary huh?" he said tucking a piece of your hair behind your ear and although you blushed at his gesture, you were not gonna let him keep treating you like a child just because he was your babysitter now!
"Would you stop treating me like I'm fucking four! I want to watch this move and if you're too scared then I'll do it alone in my room!" you spat and Pablo's jaw was clenching. He imagined tossing you over his lap and spanking your little butt for those foul words leaving your sweet mouth but instead he just grabbed the remote and pressed play.
The movie was terrible..so much gore..jump scares..and overall terror. Pablo caught you jumping up a few times and he was smirking in amusement. You were too stubborn to accept it but deep down you knew now that Pablo was absolutely right.
"Alright, that's over..time for bed" he got up while you were still curled up in a blanket on the sofa too scared to move and go down the dark hallway leading to the guest room you started calling your own.
"Everything okay preciosa?" Pablo said waiting for you to admit that you were scared but that never came as you just got up and walked away bravely while he chuckled.
"Goodnight Pablo.." you whisper when he passed you to go to his own room which was across the hallway and he turned around smiling warmly.
"Goodnight preciosa" he said entering his room the same time as you. You laid in the cold dark room for an hour trying desperately to fall asleep but it wouldn't happen. You could hear every little creek and everything scared you making your brain hyper alert on every detail. You wondered if Pablo fell asleep already..?
Knock Knock
"Come in preciosa.." Pablo's groggy voice said and you quickly opened the door not wanting to be alone in that dark hallway for long.
"Um..I..can't sleep Pablo" you say shyly playing with the edge of the big t-shirt you used as your pajamas.
"And why is that huh?" he said with a proud smirk and you felt angry that he was teasing you now so your stubbornness took the best of you as you said that he was mean.
Then just as he was about to answer something fell outside from the strong wind and you screamed rushing to his bed and he collected your small body in his strong arms (gif).
"Shh..shh..it's alright" he said kissing your shoulder and you felt your whole body heating up. Were you really sitting on his lap with his arms around you and his lips left a kiss on your skin!?
"Please don't be mad at me..please don't be mad..but I'm scared from the movie..and I don't want to sleep alone!" you admitted everything not caring if he teases you or not but just wanting to say like this forever.
"Shh..I'm not mad preciosa..just..lay here with me?" he said gulping a little when our eyes met before quickly looking away. I saw him stare at my lips multiple times..but he wouldn't always restrain himself..why was he doing that??
"Um..thank you" you sniffled and he dried your tears but still keeping you on his lap and soon enough you were both kissing each other feverishly like your life depended on being close to each other like this.
"F..fuck! You taste better than I imagined!" Pablo groaned when you pulled away for air and he was holding your hair in the tight grip messing it up completely.
"Hmm..I'm hot Pablo..all over.." you whined blushing hard when you saw him smirk while shamelessly observing your body pulling on your t-shirt until it was on the floor and you were sitting there in your matching pink set.
"I can fix that preciosa..just relax" he said with a low voice before flipping you over and getting on top starting to suck marks all over your sensitive neck. Your mind was sent into oblivion...
He was kissing from my neck to my lips repeatedly while my eyes were closed and I focused on his heavy breathing remembering how many nights I wondered what he would sound like in these situations.
When he started to kiss lower, I became a little self conscious never have done this before so I placed my hand into his hair and called his name softly. He immediately stopped looking up with me with kind eyes.
"Um..nobody..ever touched me like that" you say and he smiled moving up and kissing your lips lovingly again.
"It's okay preciosa..we don't have to do anything tonight if you don't want to okay? I can wait" he said and you blushed feeling nervous but also wanting desperately to have Pablo be the first one to make you feel good.
"Hey..look at me! I'm not mad at you okay..I'm very patient for something I really want..and if I was able to hear you moan my name at night whenever you would stay over for months, I can wait until you feel ready okay?" he said giggling a little while caressing my now completely red face. Did he really hear me moan his name!?
"Um..I'm..I'm ready..just..take it slow" you say and he smiled nodding his head and kissing your lips and then your nose.
"Don't be embarrassed with me preciosa..I think you're perfect" he said and you smiled finally moving your hands from your chest and he slowly took off your matching set kissing down your body.
"We won't go all the way tonight..we will prepare you for that slowly but I will make you feel good okay?" he said inches away from your swollen clit and you moaned nodding your head in agreement.
When his lips finally attached to your heated core, your head was thrown back and you started seeing stars on the celling of his bedroom. He was lapping at your core like a starved animal pinning your hips down whenever you would try to instinctively move away.
"Mm que deliciosa.." he groaned ending vibrations all over your body before continuing to suck intensively on your core and you arched your back feeling heat collect in the pit of your stomach.
"Uh..uh" you whined and he looked up at you to make sure you're okay before continuing to do his work diligently smirking when he felt your juices spilling out of your hole as he licked your clean.
"Good girl! Give it all to me baby.." he spoke and that was enough to send you over the edge as your thighs shook as your hand gripped his hair out of instinct.
"Awe look at you shaking preciosa..shh..shh..so sensitive and perfect" Pablo kissed your thighs moving up and laying beside you quickly pulling you on top of him for cuddles.
"If you want me to go?" you said after a few seconds unsure of what he was thinking. Meanwhile Pablo was in awe at how lucky he was that you were finally in his arms.
"You're not going anywhere!"Pablo said and you blushed nodding your head and nuzzling your nose into his neck.
The next morning, you woke up first smiling at how tightly Pablo was holding onto you while gently touching his sleeping face. After a few seconds, you placed a finger on his lips and he woke up playfully biting it making your squeal.
"Mm morning preciosa" he said tightening his grip even more while kissing your lips gently.
"You're squishing me Pablo!" you say and he giggles kissing all over your neck and face before letting you breathe.
"Good!" he said and you blushed leaning in to kiss his shortly again which he welcomed. Your moment was interrupted by his phone beeping with a message.
"It's your mom saying she will pick you up soon.." Pablo said answering shortly before putting it away and bringing all his attention back to you.
"And what if I don't want to go...?" you say touching his abs while he caressed your head kissing it gently.
"You first didn't want to stay, remember??" Pablo teased and you blushed hiding your face into his neck again while giggling.
"You're the best babysitter Pablo" you smirk looking up at him and he blushes a little shaking his head at your little comment.
"Eres mala..muy mala preciosa" he said hovering on top of you and kissing your lips passionately. You instinctively opened your legs for him which made him proudly smirk down at you.
"Although you're very hard to resist preciosa mia..we don't have the proper time right now" he said knowing that your mom will be here any minute now. You whined at those words touching his face and pulling him down for a kiss.
When you finally got up and your mom was at the door, Pablo politely greeted her and said goodbye to you. You were almost inside the car when you saw Pablo at the window looking at you longingly and you lied that you forgot something.
You ran inside all the way to the living room before jumping into Pablo's arms and kissing his lips lovingly. He chuckled holding you up with his hands resting on your butt and his lips devouring yours.
"What are you doing here preciosa?" he said
"I forgot something" you giggle kissing him again and he chuckled putting you down after a few more sweet kisses.
"Here you go..if your mom asks" he said giving you a water bottle which you took and blushed when he winked at you playfully.
"I'll see you soon!" you say very much excited for it.
"You will preciosa" Pablo said before you closed the door and left with your mom. You had your face glued to the phone screen texting with Pablo and already missing being surrounded by his strong arms.
After last night, you will never again be grumpy for being left by your parents..especially with your new babysitter ;))
wanda bit her lip while watching you work, folding her arms over her chest.
it embarrassed her to admit it, but it was true: even after nearly five years of marriage, everything that you did turned her on. her high sex drive never seemed to be fulfilled, especially when you were so goddamn attractive.
even in an old band shirt and cargo pants, hacking away at a tree with a heavy axe for the christmas tree. you were out doing the handiwork, while wanda stood in the house with a mug in her hands, watching you from the balcony with a smile on her lips.
your shirt was sleeveless, much to wanda’s excitement (or arousal), which showed off those biceps that had been the fruit of hours spent in the gym. or in wanda’s bedroom.
“mom! mom! when’s santa coming? is he here yet?”
“have i been good enough this year? will i get a dog?”
the cries of billy and tommy, wanda and you’s twin sons, snapped her out of her lustful trance. wanda turned to her sons, a red flush on her cheeks still, thankfully gone unnoticed by the twins.
“santa will come on christmas night, tommy. so not today. and billy, i don’t think there’s dogs in the north pole, yeah? you want like, a remote-controlled car instead?” wanda chuckled as she managed to quieten the boys down in a matter of moments, with her expert motherly nature.
“who wants to set up the christmas tree?” you called from the doorstep, hefting the top section of a pine tree on one shoulder. tommy and billy ran up to you with excited cries, jumping with the energy of the young children that they were.
with some dirt on your face and a sheen of sweat covering your skin, you smiled cheekily at wanda, who thought you never looked more attractive.
when she came up to you, you didn’t miss the opportunity to use your free hand to pull your wife in, whispering in her ear with a husky voice.
“saw you looking at me from the balcony just now, baby. you’re horny, aren’t you?”
wanda gasped as she pulled away, slapping your arm. she looked around, and when noticing that billy and tommy had run off, quickly pecked your lips while standing on tip-toes.
you winked at your wife with the rouguish smirk that made her weak at the knees. “yelena’s babysitting tonight. you and i are gonna have some fun under that mistletoe.”
the two of you didn’t even make it past the kitchen when the door slammed shut after yelena came to pick the boys up. in mere seconds, your lips came crashing together like a tidal wave, tongue and teeth clashing with fervency.
“baby,” wanda panted, trying to unbuckle your jeans with one hand, the other tangled in your hair. you laughed breathily at her neediness, using a hand to wrap around her neck and bring her closer, as she readily complied.
you had a hand above her head against the wall, steadying the two of you, as the heated wave of lust escalated relentlessly. you moved your head beneath her chin, nipping and sucking at her pretty collarbone as she whined with impatience.
“d- don’t leave a mark,” she gasped, as you moved up to her neck. “gotta meeting tomorrow-”
“then let everyone see,” you interrupted, harshly biting right next to her pulse point, purple bruises forming in its wake. “let everyone know that you’re mine.” she groaned in slight annoyance at your cockiness but threw back her head nonetheless, allowing you better access to mark her as your own. wanda knew she could never turn you down, anyway.
in the midst of your merciless teasing, you slipped a hand under her shirt and under her bra to grasp greedily at her tits, loving the feeling of how soft and ample she was. wanda whined at your roughness, which only encouraged you to heighten what she thought was at its crux.
you pressed and pulled and twisted her nipples during the sloppy kisses and desperate pants, until she was nothing more than putty in your arms. her nipples were burning with pain but more pleasure, and wanda felt like she wouldn’t be able to feel them tomorrow, but yet she wanted more.
“harder,” she said firmly, against your mouth, then breaking off into a moan when you slipped your tongue inside that delectable mouth of hers.
“want it harder?” you teased with a heavy pant. “so needy for me, hmm?”
tears pricked at her eyes in frustration, nodding furiously despite the feeling of burning against her skin. throwing her shirt over head and slipping her bra off with haste wanda thought unimaginable, you sank your teeth into a nipple without warning, closing your eyes when goosebumps ran over your skin.
she let out a silent scream, nearly coming undone there and then. wanda couldn’t breathe. she didn’t want to breathe. she wouldn’t breathe unless you told her to do so. her hands were gripping your shoulder blade so tightly you were surprised your shirt didn’t rip.
the feeling of your teeth in her nipple caused so much pain, so much pleasure, and an avalanche of arousal to flood her senses. wanda wanted to be roughed out, stretched out, used ‘til she was a doll of your playtime.
she gyrated her hips along your thigh that was shoved between her legs, moaning your name. the way she sounded, so pliant and obedient in your arms, drove you downright insane.
“just like that, baby,” you groaned, removing your teeth from her overly sensitive nipple. “such a good girl for me.” wanda cried, wept for your touch, and you would be a sinner and a fool to deny this goddess of a woman.
manhandling her onto the kitchen counter, you bent her over with strength you yourself didn’t know was in your possession. she could only moan in response, growing wetter each time your words were tainted with all things unholy.
wanda gasped as you rubbed your strap against her ass, words dissolving into nothing more than a puddle of her submission. she moaned something unintelligible, pressed against the cool surface of the marble.
“what was that, baby?” you asked, tugging on her auburn hair.
wanda’s face was flushed, with embarrassment and arousal, maybe both. she turned back to look at you with her eyes drooping in a hazy lust. “i wanna give you more babies.”
fucking hell.
that definitely did more than just something to you, as you snapped the side of her purple panties, throwing it over your head. you let out a damn near growl when you saw how sodden her sex was, all puffy and swollen for you.
“wanda,” you groaned, using a hand to press her harder against the countertop, as she raised her ass to give you a better view.
on another day, you might’ve asked her to beg for it, beg for you to take her as she was. but today you decided there was no time for all that. each second you spent with wanda was sheer paradise, and the ticking clock was your only enemy.
in the midst of a loud moan from wanda, you thrust the entirety of the strap into her awaiting pussy, watching in a trance as each inch was taken by her so well. her moan became a scream, as her knees went weak.
you took her enthusiasm as a green light, beginning to thrust slowly into your wife. as much as she was needy and desperate, you didn’t want to hurt her.
“faster please, daddy.” she begged, her arousal dripping down her own thighs and your own.
might as well kill me now.
you slowly removed the strap from her tight pussy, as she whined at the loss of your cock, clenching around nothing at all.
then you slammed it into her, wanda’s scream rebounding around the walls of kitchen. suddenly, the gentle touches or sweet words dissipate into thin air, and this time you’re fucking wanda with every intention to break her.
you let the strap ram against her cervix, tight and wet and everything wanda could have ever wished for. the splutters that leave her mouth all get soaked up by you as each of thrusts get deeper and faster, opening wanda up.
god, if this was where she would meet her end, wanda prayed she could burn in your fires of hell.
the heat and haze cloud the two of you into your personal little bubble, until the only thought ingrained into your mind is wanda maximoff.
she shakes with every harsh slam of your hips, eyes glazed over as you lean down to press the two of you together. wanda can feel your hardened nipples pressing against her bare back, leaving her breathless.
all she can do is drool and moan helplessly, as you pound into her for all it was worth, almost as if fucking her into the counter.
“you gonna come?” you say lowly, right next to her ear, hot breath on her skin. goosebumps raise all over her skin, and wanda can’t even do more than moan your name as if it was the only word that could ever fall from her heavenly lips.
her lack of coherency makes you laugh. the cocky lilt in your voice, with the breathy rasp and low tone - it fucks her up, and wanda nearly loses goddamn mind.
you hike her hips up from the counter and give yourself better access to her hungry pussy. the show of effortless strength leaves her throbbing even harder than before. you then use a hand to reach out and toy with her clitoris, fingers nimble in bringing to an earth-shattering orgasm.
wanda wails and twitches underneath you, but you pin her down and keep the strap buried inside her as she comes. her heavy pants and whines, and just the sight of wanda, all spent and drooling and red-faced and moaning your name - it brings you to your own climax.
after what seemed like an eternity of sacred silence, and making sure wanda’s breathing has steadied, you take the strap out of her pussy. her walls are stretched out, and for a moment you feel more arousal building up in you.
but with a look at wanda, you knew it would take a while before a second round. wanda was positively glowing, but exhausted. she smiles at you with the most genuine sunshine you’d ever seen in her life, and you’d never guess she was the most dirty devil under the sheets. or, well, in the kitchen.
you slowly undo the clasps of the strap, discarding it somewhere and making a mental note to clean it later. wanda reaches out for you, and you interlock your fingers with hers.
she pulls you into one of the most gentle, sweet, and love-filled kisses you’d ever had in your life. it was slow, it was vanilla and roses, it was wanda maximoff.
it was just her and you, the sunlight reflecting off golden skin, on a dreamy christmas day.
“mom,” billy calls out for wanda while she’s preparing dinner. you’re helping her chop up some carrots, admiring your wife in a cute kitchen apron.
“yes, honey?” wanda says, brushing a strand of red hair from her eyes. billy steps into your view, holding a pair of familiar purple panties that looked like it had been through hell.
“why’s there panties on the kitchen floor? and why’s it ripped apart...... and wet?”
you choke on air.
thanks for reading! likes and reblogs are much appreciated :)
Hello, I came across your post for Damian Priest requests, and thought I'd drop by and make one.
If it isn't too much trouble, can you do Damian Priest being protective of the reader after they were injured? The reader nicknames him Harbinger of Doom in response to a nickname he calls the reader. Angst/Fluff. (I'm a sucker for a fluffy ending). It doesn't matter which version of Priesty it is. He's awesome through it all lol.
damian priest x reader
i’m so sorry i had no idea of how to use the nickname :(( i hope you like it anyway!
nothing to prove
being the youngest and the last member of the judgment day had its pros a cons. you loved how everyone cared about you, especially a cute guy named damian. you and him bonded immediately and even if it started as a simple and cute friendship, everyone knew that you were in love with him.
and everyone knew that he was in love with you.
you were the official couple in the squad, making the fans going crazy everytime you teased each other on live television.
the constant flirting and stolen kisses were enough for the fans to start calling you “mom and dad” and even if it seemed a little weird at first you ended up loving it.
but despite everyone loving you, you started to hate how they all became protective of you. you didn’t matter damian or rhea - mostly damian - throwing a tantrum everytime you got slightly injured, it was cute how he was protecting you but overtime you got bored and even if you told him that, he never stopped doing so.
one special night turned to be a living nightmare.
you were so happy to have your own match against zoey stark. you two were friends but you knew how she could get everytime she was wrestling. she would be brutal and she wouldn’t care if she played dirty, as long as she gets the win, everything is fine to her.
and that’s what she did.
it wasn’t supposed to go like that, you were supposed to win, it was an easy match but of course she played dirty and she slightly injured your back. but the constant hits on your shoulders and back made it hurt more that you could barely stand. you just wanted the match to end so you rapidly tap out, just to end everything.
you were in too much pain that you didn’t even hear rhea attacking zoey and damian kneeling in front of inside the ring.
“you’re crazy!” you slightly heard rhea yelling “i’m gonna make you pay for this” and you knew she wasn’t kidding. she was your best friend and even if that was all a play, you were injured for rhea and that was something she couldn’t forgive.
“mi amor are you okay? estas bien?” damian asked in a whisper.
your back was killing you and your head was spinning. even the fans realised something was wrong when they saw how you couldn’t even move nor stand.
you only felt damian scooping you up in his arms and taking you to get checked. your head was hurting and when damian laid you on the bed you drifted off. tired and in pain.
when you regain consciousness you watched in the small tv inside the locker room how rhea was attacking zoey and how damian was doing nothing to stop her.
referees were trying to stop her but they couldn’t get her away from zoey. damian was laughing and teasing her in spanish.
you didn’t want that to happen. you knew zoey overstepped but that was your business, not theirs. damian was only protecting you but he was acting crazy and you couldn’t handle it anymore so you violently turned off the tv and threw the remote somewhere in the room.
you waited patiently for their feud to be over so you could talk to damian - no, so you could scream at damian for his childish behaviour.
he definitely didn’t expect to see you awake but what he also didn’t expect was to see your pissed look.
“are you okay hermosa?” he slowly started walking towards the couch you decided to sit on.
“don’t come closer damian…”
“what? are you okay?” he asked a little worried.
“you gotta explain why you went all crazy on zoey…that was none of your business” you said. you were clearly still in pain and having a fight right now wasn’t the greatest idea you ever had but you needed to speak with him.
“why? the way your face looks in pain is the reason i went all crazy on her…” he tried to keep his tone low, as he hated fighting with you.
“i know but that wasn’t your business…i could have handled her”
“oh, could you ?” he said back probably too fast.
that was low, even for him.
“i didn’t mean it like that…” he immediately apologised but if you were pissed before, now you were completely mad.
“you know what? i can handle her and i can handle myself, i have nothing to prove, especially not to you damian so if you think i’m not good enough, you can leave…” you knew you were hurting him but his words already hurt you.
“i get it, you’re mad…you’re mad because i overstepped and i shouldn’t have…but i was here backstage watching you crying in pain and knowing that i couldn’t do anything for you was killing me. it took everything in rhea’s power to hold me back from running to you when she first hit your back, knowing that she shouldn’t have…” he started explaining himself and truth be told, you couldn’t stay mad at him for longer than 10 minutes “…i was scared when i saw you almost paralyzed inside the ring…and everything i told her was because she deserved it, i don’t care if she’s your friend, she shouldn’t have done that, so yeah maybe i’m too protective of you but it’s because i love you and i can’t fucking stand seeing you hurt and in pain” he slowly knelt in front of you, taking your hands into his bigger ones “i know you can handle yourself and you proved it so many times now, but if there’s a way i can protect you from getting hurt, i might get hurt from trying princess…” he whispered, bringing your hands to his lips.
you even forgot why you were mad in the first place “you would really get hurt for me?”
“i would take a hundred of bullets for you, i gotta protect what’s mine…” he slowly teased you.
“so i’m yours…”
“from the moment i saw you in the gym training with rhea” he helped you standing up “now…we’re gonna get you checked one more time and when you’re all clear to go, i’m gonna take you back to the hotel and we’re gonna have a very nice and cozy night in…just me and you” he proposed and you nodded.
happy that someone was there to take care of you, and that the person was damian himself.
saw speak no evil last night, which i really enjoyed! it proved to be my very favorite kind of stressful movie, i.e. a slowburn thriller where people go to a beautiful and remote location and then Things Go So Wrong! it reminded me a lot of other faves ex machina, men, 10 cloverfield lane, the menu, ready or not, the recent blink twice, etc.
just some thoughts about this movie (spoilers!)--
+ i really enjoyed all the gender role stuff going on in this one a whole bunch. this is, of course, a classic gothic romp in my eyes. therefore, watching the dad -- down on his luck, feeling emasculated by his female family and by life not favoring him as much as it was supposed to! -- get seduced by the alpha male andrew tate-y bs embodied by james mcavoy's character, like the dad was but a shrinking naive gothic heroine missing or even lusting after all the red flags, was SUCH a fun subversion to me. yes! yes!!!
+ every time that mackenzie davis's character tried to establish boundaries and they got run over and then she let it slide to be palatable, i viscerally FELT THAT. there was, of course, a big element of 'privileged people wanting to appear woke so they keep being boundlessly pityingly nice to the poor people', but even deeper than that, i think this was a great portrayal of how women in particular are expected to constantly accommodate and ignore their intuition. the bit with making her eat the goose. D: and it got worse!
+ i also really liked how in the big showdown, the mom and the kids were the ones who actually took out the enemies, and the dad was the only one without a 'kill' to his name. (though he did sacrifice himself by jumping off the roof, mirroring Accomplice Wife's self-sacrificial death!)
+ gosh, the dark implications re: Accomplice Wife's character were so harrowing - the victim becoming the abuser - and the fact that the little girl was being primed to follow in her footsteps ..... D:
+ i enjoyed that the kids were the ones who had the sort of Big Finding Bluebeard's Closet Of Dead Wives Reveal. (my bf pointed out that this is a bluebeard story, and it so is! my favorite!) that sort of ASOUE-y feeling of kids having to make it on their own because adults aren't a guaranteed source of safety. MAN, poor ant. :'( that kid had a HORRIBLE time. i really admire his persistence in keeping on fighting and trying to communicate.
+ i saw someone in the reddit discussion thread say that couple vs. couple is an underrated trope, and i agree! would love to see more of that in cinema.
+ love how the title operates both on the level of "this kid can speak no evil about what we do because we cut his tongue out" AND "don't ever say anything mean to people or you might hurt their feelings and what could possibly be worse than that (oh, this, i guess) 😬"
+ can't believe they did nick miller's favorite song cotton eyed joe so dirty like that. :( that scene honestly brought tears to my eyes from pure misery. the fact that some parents really do treat their kids like that ...................... (even if that wound up not being totally the situation in this particular movie). disgusting and heartbreaking.
+ the most a+ "eternal flame" use since gilmore girls.
+ after i watched the movie i read up on what the original film was like, and may i just say: that would have broken me psychologically in the movie theatre. thank god i didn't have to see that. THANK GOD! sometimes american optimism really works for me, honestly. if it's a gothic, then in the gothic, they've always got to make it out at the end!!! bruised and bloodied and haunted but still standing! so i'm really glad they did!
+ it honestly never occurred to me that people would thirst over james mcavoy in this movie, because he's so gross and horrible, but it takes all sorts to make a world, it turns out. the internet teaches me that every day!
+ anyway, i had a great time watching this! would definitely watch again! but gosh, was it a special kind of fun and stressful to watch it unfold the first time.
#feeling very blessed by thrillers rn because i also just got the new ruth ware on libby 🤘#my two favorite genres are agonizing psychological thrillers and people being cute while not much happens#dollsome's deep thoughts#speak no evil
Goober perks her head up from your lap, hearing the garage door open.
“Are they home?” You ask her, scratching behind her ears. She gives a soft bark before using your thigh as a backboard to bounce off the couch to the back door, meeting the girls as they enter.
“Mom!” Nora says excitedly, digging into her bag, “Look what we found!” She pulls out a costume, proudly showing it off.
“A zombie?” You ask, “Since when do you want to be a zombie?”
“Since she saw it at the store,” Missy laughs, “She had to convince my dad to buy it.”
Nora having to convince Frankie of something isn’t anything new, but a halloween costume? That’s weird.
“What’d you get, Miss?” You ask, waiting for her to dig into her bag to present you with her costume.
“Beetlejuice!” You laugh, clapping your hands together, “That’s amazing!”
“Dad’s gonna be Bob!” Missy giggles, admiring her new costume.
“Oh Goober!” Frankie sings, laughing wickedly as he enters the living room, “We got you something!”
Goober wags her tail, listening to Frankie talk, flopping onto her side, showing him her belly.
“Missy wants to be Beetlejuice and then said I should be Bob,” Frankie says, kneeling to scratch Goober’s belly, continuing to talk to her like no one else is in the room, “And then guess what we found, Goob!”
Frankie looks to Missy who pulls out a Lydia dog costume.
“Poor Goober!” You groan, “You’re seriously going to put her in that?”
“Duh,” Frankie snarks, “That’s the whole point of buying it! Speaking of which, you need to think of a costume too!”
“I’ll go as a pregnant lady,” you huff, sticking your tongue out at him, rubbing your hand along the prominent bump of your belly.
“No!” Nora wails, falling to her knees, gripping her costume in both hands, shaking it, “You can’t just go as yourself!”
“Yeah!” Missy agrees, eyes widening with an enthusiastic nod, “You gotta dress up for Halloween!”
“I know!” Nora shouts, scooting towards you on her knees to the couch, “Frankie we should go back to the store and get Mom some of those fake zombie bite things and she could go as a zombie like me!”
“A pregnant zombie!” You laugh as Frankie stiffens beside Goober, “I think I’ve seen some of those costumes online.”
“Please Mom,” Nora begs, clasping her hands together and poking her lower lip out.
“Fine,” you smile, poking her nose, “Just for you, kid.”
—
“What do we wanna watch?” Missy asks, trading Nora the remote for the popcorn.
“What about this?” Nora asks, stopping her scrolling on the tv to some zombie movie.
“What’s up with you and zombies now?” Frankie huffs, laying his arm around behind you on the couch.
“What’s up with you and zombies?” You ask, smirking at his hesitance.
“Nothing.” Frankie quickly protests, shrugging, “I just think they’re dumb.”
“Dumb?!” Nora shrieks, whipping around to glare at him, “You’re dumb!”
“Nora!” You scold, “That’s not nice.”
“Yeah,” Missy scowls at Nora, “My dad’s not dumb.”
Things between Nora and Frankie have been less tense and they’re more civil now but they still have their moments. Nora’s sass and Frankie’s stubbornness like to buttheads every once in a while.
“Sorry,” Nora mutters, gently handing the remote to Frankie, “Here. You pick.”
“Thanks.” Frankie mumbles, taking the remote and scrolling through the selection of movies, “Any suggestions?”
“Maybe we should watch something scary.” Missy comments shyly, “It is close to Halloween.”
Frankie lets out a breath, “Okay.” He scrolls back to the zombie movie that Nora had found. “Do you guys really want to watch this?” He asks, clicking on the title to read the description.
“It’d help me and Nora know how to be zombies,” you nudge him with a small laugh. Nora nods her head looking at Frankie with those big round eyes of hers.
“You’re not gonna get scared?” Frankie asks, tapping against Missy’s shoulder with the remote.
“Nah,” Missy shrugs, “Zombies aren’t real.”
“Alright,” Frankie sighs, pressing play on the movie.
As the movie plays out on the screen, you can’t help but feel Frankie tense up every time a zombie is shown. His leg bounced as the growls and groans of the zombies intensified.
“You okay, babe?” You whisper in his ear, rubbing your hand on his thigh.
“Yeah,” he grunts with a nod of his head, leg stilling instantly, squirming as he watches a zombie bite someone, “Peachy.”
When one of the main characters of the film gets bit, Nora lets out a little cheer.
“That guy was mean!” She explains, when Missy gives her a funny look, “He deserved it,” she adds with a shrug of her shoulders.
—
Frankie jumps awake, breathing heavily. He glances over at you lying peacefully asleep, taking a deep breath. It was just a dream, he thinks, rubbing his palms against his eyes trying to rid himself of the images of you and the girls being torn apart by zombies.
He’s been on several tours fighting alongside his friends in wars he didn’t want any part in, seeing first hand what the government is capable of. His friends think he’s crazy for thinking the possibility of a zombie apocalypse happening is real.
He fucking hates zombies. Unpredictable, terrifying bastards. It’s the worst kind of horror Frankie could imagine. The helplessness on what to do, keeping the girls safe, keeping you safe, the list goes on.
The red numbers on the clock read 12:30am when Frankie glances over. The beating of his heart was not settling anytime soon. Half asleep despite what his heart decides to do he decides to get up and go get some water, making his way to the kitchen, he hears noises. Ticks of the clock on the wall, the breeze outside, Goober snoring from her dog bed, and a weird scratching.
Frankie grabs a cup from the cupboard, filling it with water before leaning against the sink as he takes a drink of the cool liquid. His heart rate starts to settle as he focuses on his breathing and drinking more water.
“Fraaaankie,” he hears a soft growl coming from the dark corner.
“What the fuck?” Frankie murmurs, squinting his eyes to see what’s there, the moon casting shadows in through the window of the kitchen, a lone figure is standing in the corner. His heart rate speeds up again, what the fuck is that. A snarl comes from the creature as it reaches its hand out.
Frankie lets out a high pitched scream, dropping the plastic cup in his hand to grab the towel laying next to the sink, throwing it at the creature. Goober starts barking and howling, hackles raised, with all the commotion in the kitchen. With the towel lying beside the creature on the floor, it starts to let out an ear piercing giggle.
“What the fuck?!” You boom, waddling into the kitchen, flipping on the light, “What the hell is going on?!”
Frankie stands next to the sink trying to catch his breath, while Nora continues to laugh, dressed fully in her zombie costume. Goober looks relieved as she registers it’s Nora, tail between her legs as she walks closer to her sniffing the fabric of the costume.
“Mom,” Nora laughs, “Did you hear his scream?!”
“Nora,” you yawn, trying to catch up on what possibly could have happened, “What did you do?”
“I thought it’d be funny.” She shrugs, taking a breath to try and calm herself, “Didn’t know he’d be such a baby about it.”
“I am not being a baby,” Frankie says, glaring at her. “I was half asleep and you scared the shit out of me, Nora.”
“What’s going on?” Missy mumbles, coming behind you, “I heard someone screaming.”
“I scared Frankie with my costume,” Nora giggles, twirling around so the ripped fabric of her costume flew in the air around her.
Missy starts to laugh, “That was you?!” She asks, looking toward Frankie. His ears and cheeks turning a bright red.
“Alright, everyone to bed,” you announce, ushering the girls out of the kitchen. Goober quickly followed behind.
“I cannot believe that happened,” Frankie admitted with a shake of his head, bending to grab the cup off the floor and swiping the towel over to soak up the water he spilled.
“It’s okay, baby.” You smiled, gently rubbing your hand between his shoulder blades, “Everyone’s scared of something. Yours just happens to be zombies.”
Frankie stood rolling his eyes, “Yeah, fake things that aren’t real.”
“Mmm,” you hum, making a face, grabbing arms to loop around your waist, “I don’t trust it.”
“What do you mean?” He asks, giving you a cautious look.
“You don’t think something like that could happen?!” You ask, flailing your arms.
“You think it could?” Frankie asks under his breath, squeezing your waist.
“Duh,” you laugh, “Anything could happen!”
Frankie smiled, leaning in to pepper kisses along your face as you let out soft giggles, he knew you were the one for him.
Wedding - T. Sawyer (Bravo 4)
summary: trent agrees to be your date at your brother's wedding.
When Trent agreed to be my date to my brother's wedding so that my family would stop hassling me about not bringing anyone, I didn't know what to think. Sure we had known each other for years since I worked with Naima and quickly became friends with Bravo team but we weren't all that close.
Trent just shrugged it off when I asked him why he agreed to come with me and he just said that he was available so why not? I had to admit I was kind of pleased with the whole situation because I always had a crush on him. My phone dinging made me snap out of my thoughts. I picked it up off the bathroom sink and saw a text from Trent.
"I'm here."
I took a deep breath as I fluffed up my hair and fixed my lipstick for the millionth time before I grabbed my clutch and stuffed my phone in it before I made my way outside. I quickly locked the door behind me and my breath hitched in my throat as I saw Trent standing by his car wearing a full black suit with his collar unbuttoned and his hair slicked back. I quickly composed myself and smiled at him as I walked down the steps of my townhouse. He lifted his head and smiled as his eyes landed on me.
"Wow. You look amazing."
I had changed seven times to be exact before I settled on this tight black dress that hit me right below the knee with a slit on the right side which came up to my mid-tight. I kept it basic for the rest of the outfit and makeup, pairing it with some nude strappy heels, curling my hair lightly and only doing some simple makeup. My brother's wedding was outside and since it was almost 100 degrees out today I didn't want to look like a raccoon by the end of the night.
"You look very handsome too."
Trent smiled.
"Only thing, I can't tie a tie for shit."
I chuckled.
"How? What about when you're in your dress blues?"
He just shrugged.
"I usually watch some youtube tutorials or get someone to help me."
I nodded.
"I'm pretty good at tying them if you got it."
"Yeah let me get it."
He quickly made his way back to the driver's side of the car and I took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. He came back around holding a black tie and I smiled as I put my clutch down on the hood of his truck before I took the tie out of his hands.
Given the height difference I struggled a bit to put the tie around his neck and I couldn't help but blush as I stumbled over my own two feet and almost fell. He swiftly grabbed onto my arm to prevent my fall and I gave him a small smile.
"Thanks."
He nodded as he let go of me and I diverted my attention back to tying his tie. Once I was done with his tie I quickly stepped back and smiled.
"All good now."
He nodded.
"We should probably get on the road."
I nodded.
"Right. Wouldn't want to be late to my own brother's wedding."
Trent nodded as he turned around and opened the passenger door to his truck. I gave him a small smile as I stepped inside the truck. He grabbed my clutch which was still on the hood of his truck and handed it to me before he closed the door and made his way to the driver's seat. We had about a thirty minute drive to get to this remote beach that my brother was getting married on.
"So full disclosure, my dad was in the air force and my two brothers are in the marines so let's just say they are a little overprotective of me since I'm the youngest and the only daughter."
Trent nodded.
"No problem."
I nodded. The rest of the drive was pretty quiet except for the fact that we almost got lost twice but we finally pulled into the parking lot and I was so nervous right now. Trent parked the truck and quickly got out and came over to open my door. I took a deep breath and stepped out of the truck and put on a fake smile.
"You okay?"
I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"(Y/N) there you are."
My mother was the first one to notice me and I gave her a smile as she started walking our way. I quickly hugged my mom and let my hands back down to my side and quickly balled my hand up in my fist so no one would notice my nervous shake.
"And who is this?"
"Hum, mom this is Trent. Trent, this is my mom (Y/M/N).
"Nice to meet you ma'am."
She nodded.
"Nice to meet you too Trent. Why didn't you tell us he was coming?"
I nervously chuckled.
"Hum, his schedule is kind of unpredictable so I didn't know if he would make it. I hope (Y/B/N) doesn't mind."
"Oh of course not honey. The more the merrier right?"
I nodded.
"Let's head inside, it's going to start soon."
I nodded as my mom turned her back to me and started walking towards the seating section which was set up on the beach. I unballed my fist but my hand was still very much shaky. I looked back at Trent and he swiftly grabbed onto my hand as we made our way down to our seats.
"Look who I found."
Before I could say anything my mother stepped aside and I smiled at my brother, his very pregnant wife and my dad.
"Hi everybody."
"Who's this?"
Trent let go of my hand and shook hands with my dad.
"Trent Sawyer sir."
"Nice to meet you young man."
He then introduced himself to my brother and his wife before he took a seat beside me. My mom gave me a quick smile which meant that she liked Trent and I was able to relax a bit. I crossed my leg one over the other and settled into my seat as Trent put his on my exposed knee which made me almost lose all my composure.
His hand rested on my knee the entire ceremony and he put his hand on the small of my back as we made our way through the crowd at the reception to find our seat. We were seated with my parents and brother.
"So Trent, what do you do for work?"
"Hum..."
I looked over at him and could tell he was struggling to come up with an answer that wasn't going to out him as a special warfare operator.
"He's a field medic."
My brother gave me a confused look but I just completely ignored him.
"Oh so you work for a private company?"
"Yeah something like that."
My dad nodded and I looked over at my mom and pleaded with her through my eyes to change the subject.
"How's your work been honey?"
"Busy, you know how it is."
"Yeah I heard there was a kid that died in the parking lot of the hospital."
I gulped at my brother's comment. That kid in question was one of my patients and I turned my back away from him for a few minutes to enter his information in the system and he left the treatment room and shot himself in his truck. We tried to save him, but it was too late. I regret ever leaving that treatment room.
"Yeah."
I pulled my hands down in my lap and started fiddling with my ring on my right hand. Trent put his hand out and I looked over at him and gave him a smile as I slid my hand in his. I was really glad he was here.
"What happened, do you know?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat and Trent squeezed my hand.
"Anybody else thirsty? I'm gonna go grab some drinks."
"Good idea Trent, I'm gonna come with you."
My dad started taking drink orders and Trent leaned closer to me.
"I've got you."
I nodded.
"Thank you."
He nodded.
"Do you want anything?"
"Sex on the beach."
"What?"
I started laughing at the flustered look on Trent's face.
"It's a drink."
He chuckled.
"Oh."
"Actually I'm not gonna make you go up there with my dad and order me that. Just get me a glass of white wine. Anyone's fine."
He nodded as he got up and followed my dad to the bar.
"Ok sister. Spill it. Did you pay this guy to be your date?"
I turned my attention over to my brother and furrowed my eyebrows.
"The hell are you talking about?"
"You've never mentioned this guy once. Never even mentioned dating someone. Didn't want to tell us what he actually did for a living. What is he? A stripper you dressed up and paid to do your date tonight."
I scoffed.
"It's so hard for you to believe that he'd be here with me willingly isn't it?"
"I'm just trying to understand."
"You know what? I don't owe any of you guys an explanation. I'm going to get some fresh air."
I pushed myself up and headed out towards the balcony. I was really grateful that nobody else was out here right now.
"Honey, can we talk?"
"Not in the mood mom."
"Can I do the talking then?"
I looked over at my mom and nodded.
"Ignore your brother. He's just trying to get under your skin like he's always done since the day you were born. Now I have an idea why Trent couldn't tell us what he did for a living and I'm not gonna push because I hated when people did it to me regarding your father's career, all I'm gonna say is that he seems like a really good guy. I'm not sure if you two are just friends or if you're dating but I noticed the way you were nervous when you first got here and how he grabbed onto your hand to stop your shaking and how when your brother talked about the incident at the hospital he did it again and when you were uncomfortable he immediately changed the subject."
"We're not dating, we're just friends."
"Well all I'm saying is maybe there's something there."
I nodded.
"Thanks mom."
She nodded as she rubbed my back the way she always has done since I was a kid.
"Anytime honey. Whenever you're ready just come back inside and join us."
I nodded and my mom headed back inside. I was used to my brother being a jackass but to go as far as asking if Trent was a stripper I paid to be my date really pissed me off.
"Your mom told me you were out here but if you want to be alone I can leave."
I shook my head as I turned around to face Trent.
"No you can stay."
He nodded as he walked over to me and handed me my glass of wine.
"Everything okay?"
"Just my brother being a jackass."
Trent chuckled and I smiled.
"What?"
"I've just never heard you talk like that before."
I chuckled.
"Only when it comes to (Y/B/N)."
He nodded.
"I'm guessing you two aren't that close?"
"He's twelve years older than me. There wasn't much potential for us to be close."
Trent nodded as Amazed by Lonestar started playing. That was my parents' wedding song and it was one of my favourite songs.
"Do you want to dance?"
I smiled as I put my glass of wine down on the table beside me and put my hand down in Trent's and we walked to the dance floor. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he rested his hands on my waist.
"Thank you for coming with me today. You made today a lot easier."
He nodded.
"It's my pleasure."
"I told my mom we were just friends. By the way, so you don't have to keep pretending to be my boyfriend or something."
Trent nodded.
"Look (Y/N) the reason I agreed to be your date today was because I really like you. It was an opportunity to get close to you without all our friends around."
I smiled.
"You know you could have just asked me on a date."
He smiled.
"I guess I could have done that too."
I smiled.
Trent smiled and I laid my head on his shoulder as we continued to sway back and forth. As the song ended I felt Trent place a soft kiss on the top of my head and I couldn't help but smile as this wedding couldn't have gone any better.
"I would have said yes just so you know."
The Small Cabin
Trashy TV
The sound of the door creaking open forced your eyes to look up.
Another unknown man walked in.
The man had dirty blond hair, a small mustache on his face in the same color. He was definitely taller than the other two, he seemed more bulky as well.
He smiled down at you as he walked over to the bed you sat on. He had a small gap in-between his two front teeth.
He kneeled down next to the bed, much like how Toby did. “Hey kiddo,” he said with a smile.
“I know you're probably tired, but I'm going to help you to the living room. Is that okay?” He asked.
You nodded your head slowly, not verbally replying.
He didn't seem bothered by that fact, he just kept smiling.
The man helped you from the bed, holding onto you as gently as he could.
He slowly helped you walk into the living room, leading you to the old couch.
The whole house seemed old.
The wooden walls and floors didn't really help with the weather outside, some of the windows had blankets stabled to keep the cold out.
The couch whined in protest as you sat down, the cushions dipping underneath your weight.
The man with the beard was sat in the recliner that was moved to the left side of the living room, looking at the box TV that played a trashy reality show.
In his hand was a “#1 mom” mug with the number one crossed out and replaced with “#2”.
The sight was almost funny, you would have laughed if the other man didn't interrupt you.
“Toby said that your feet were messed up,” he started before looking up at you, “can I take a look?”
You nodded your head as the man gently grabbed your ankle and moved to look at your foot.
The silence was almost suffocating as the two men in the room didn't speak.
You finally spoke up, just needing to focus on something. “What's your name?”
“Tim,” the man on the recliner spoke as he got up. He grunted slightly as his bones popped before nodding to the man sitting in front of you, “that's Brian.”
“What's your name kid?” Brian asked as he pulled out tweezers from the first aid kit before he mumbled, “god- what did you run through..”
You shrugging slightly at Brian's mumbled words before telling him your name. He smiled slightly as you spoke before putting his focus back on your injured foot, he grimaced at the sight.
“This is going to hurt, kid,” Brian said apologetically.
Soon enough, Brian had gotten the glass out of your feet. You had no idea how you didn't feel the glass when you were running, you simply decided that it was the adrenaline.
Your feet had been wrapped after Brian made sure that he cleaned the cuts properly.
This was weird.
You're in the middle of nowhere, in a small cabin, with three grown men.
You couldn't help but feel uneasy, a growing pit in your stomach as you got lost in your own thoughts.
Toby walked into the living room, looking at you before getting distracted by the TV.
“Toby-” Tim started as Toby snatched the remote away from him.
Toby ignored the older man, switching the channel to TLC. “Fuck yeah,” he mumbled as he saw the opening to Say Yes to The Dress play.
He seemed to ignore your slight discomfort as he sat down next to you on the couch.
Tim sighed as the show began playing on the TV, he slowly got up from the recliner. He looked over at you and Toby before walking into, what you assumed, the kitchen.
Brian smiled down at you, quickly patting your shoulder before following Tim.
You looked back at the TV, it's been a while since you've watched this show.
The old camera quality and trashy audio was nostalgic. Every small thing seemed weirdly nostalgic.
The carpet on the floor, the loud air conditioner, and even the stains on the coffee table. It all seemed so similar.
Your hands clutched the fabric of Toby's hoodie you still wore, moving the fabric in-between your fingers. The hoodie felt worn down, like he's been wearing it for years on end.
That strangely comforted you.
You looked up at Toby, seeing that he was already looking at you.
“Y- you okay?” He asked with furrowed eyebrows.
You nodded your head as you spoke, “yeah, I just remembered how much I liked this show.”
It wasn't necessarily a lie, you did enjoy the show, you just couldn't remember when you actually saw it.
Toby smiled slightly as his left hand hit the couch cushion next to him before he turned his attention back to the TV.
Joe being nervous of you meeting his family
Pumpkin Pie
nothing like a Thanksgiving fic in June 🤭
Fall in Ohio was definitely your favorite time of the year. The leaves changing always signaled to you mentally that football season was in full swing and the holidays were around the corner.
You take in the scenery for a moment before continuing to your boyfriends front door. “Joe!” you call out, entering his home.
“Hey you!” he welcomes you with a warm hug after being away from each other for a week. You traveled to Pennsylvania to visit family and attend an event with other NFL photographers that the league hosted annually.
“How was your trip? How’s your mom doing?” he questions as you both take a seat on the couch.
“Shes doing good, I saw my sister, it was really nice to be home for a bit and see everyone before they leave.” Your mom was traveling to Europe with her lifelong best friend, which you were a little concerned about at her age, but she insisted it had to be checked off the bucket list. Your sister was also heading to Florida to stay with her husband’s family for Thanksgiving, so your mom wanted everyone to be together since you’d be apart for the holiday.
“That’s good to hear, but i’m glad your back, I missed you a lot.” He smirks pulling you to his chest.
“I know Joe I missed you too, you know it’s funny we’ve only been officially dating for a month and I don’t even like being apart from you for a week.” You giggle into his chest.
“Yep. Joe Burrow effect.” He innocently shrugs receiving a nudge from you causing him to laugh.
“Hey I have a question….” he leads on. You look up to him with a bit of concern.
“Can you…I mean….do you by any chance like pumpkin pie?”
You laugh at his demeanor, he seemed almost scared for your response. “ I love pumpkin pie Joe, why do you ask?”
“oh thank GOD.” he looks almost relieved as he stands from the couch and walks to the fridge. You watch as he pulls a Costco pumpkin pie from the fridge, this of course being the only thing in the fridge besides a bottle of ketchup. He grabs two forks and heads back to you, placing the pie between you two and handing you a fork.
“Here.” he smiles and reaches for the remote to find a movie.
“Plates?” you ask.
“Nope, we don’t need them.” he insists.
“alright then.”
After a long night of Joe showing you how much he missed you, you got up early for a workout with your best friend.
She catches you up on her guy drama and you fill her in on Joe.
“Oh so you’re going to Thanksgiving with Joe’s family? That’ll be fun!” She responds to you’re blurb about you being home for the holiday.
You whip your head towards her as you both push through the stairmaster.
“Um what?” You respond in complete shock at your assumption.
“Well yeah…I mean, what is Joe gonna do, drive to Athens and leave you here for Thanksgiving? No way, he’s gonna want you to go with him.”
“I’ve never met his family before though, he makes them sound so sweet but that’s like a huge thing.” You respond between huffs, wiping your hand of the sweat along your forehead.
The two of you go back in forth on the conversation as you finish your workout. Leaving the gym you couldn’t help but to overthink the situation. Was Joe assuming you would just go with him? He might not even be considering it?
After showering and ordering takeout, you finally have time to wind down in your own apartment. You were finishing up some editing when Joe texted.
Joe❤️- dinner tmr night, I’m cooking
you- you mean your chef is cooking?
Joe❤️-😉
The next day you spend at the facility and finishing up more editing. Heading to Joe’s house the question rings through your head again. Does he want me to meet his parents?
You can immediately smell the fajitas Joe requests weekly as you walk into his house. You greet his chef and make your way upstairs do find him on the phone with someone. You walk into his room quietly and plop down next to him, soon able to put together that he must be talking to his mother. As he hangs up he turns back to face you, pulling you into him. “You hungry?” he questions. “Starving” you respond pulling him up from the bed to go back downstairs.
You both take a seat at the table as the chef brings over the food; both expressing your gratitude for the meal, after all, neither of you could cook. Without Joe’s chef, takeout would be the only option. You both make small talk throughout dinner and go over each others days.
“I heard you talking to your mom, how is she doing?” you ask picking up the glass of water. “She’s good, she was just checking in on things, asking me about Thanksgiving and stuff. I’m on pumpkin pie duty because she knows i’m picky about where the pie is from.” He babbles on, you laugh at the pie comment. “You know i’ve know you for almost a year and was given no insight into the punpkin pie fanatic that you are.” he gives you a surprised look. “Umm, what do you mean? Friendsgiving last year? At Jamarr’s? The pie that everyone was raving about…the one that I brought.” He goes on bragging about this situation which you have zero memory of, but give him the credit any way.
“So, since your family’s all out of town, what are you going to do for the holiday?” he looks up to you with seemingly hopeful eyes. “Um I don’t really know honestly, maybe i’ll just hang around here or go to Anna’s place?” you responded taking both of your plates to the sink.
“Why don’t you come with me?” he asks. “To Athens for the night, we won’t stay long cause of practice and everything but it would be nice for you to meet my family” he picks up the dishes to clean as you seat yourself in a barstool across from him.
“You’re ready for me to meet them?” you ask watching him load the dishwasher. “Yeah, I mean i’ve been wanting you guys to meet for a long time and they never get to see you at games cause your always on the field.” he says.
You think for a moment, then smile. “Yeah i’ll go with you.” He smiles in return, walking over to you and sitting with you on the couch. “Can you stay tonight?” He asks pushing a strand of hair from your face. “I have to go to the office early tomorrow, like earlier then you go for practice,” you say to him. “That’s fine, I have to meet with Brian anyway.” he returns. “Okay then, im staying,” you respond shifting yourself to lay in his lap as he finds a show to watch. “My moms going to be so happy your coming,” you smile as you hear him say it before dozing off.
A week later your packing a bag for Joe’s house. You were heading over there tonight, and leaving tomorrow morning for his parents house. You had him on FaceTime at the moment as you got everything together. “I hope you like them, I mean i know they’ll love you, but I hope you like them and-”
“Joe” you cut him off laughing. “They’re you’re parents, i’m going to love them, don’t you worry. I’m the one whose supposed to be nervous not you!” you giggle. “I know, I know, it’s just really important to me you know? I love you and I want you to feel like you’re apart of the family.” You smile at what he says. You and Joe confessed your love for one an other a while ago, but it still made you blush hearing him say the phrase. “I love you too Joe, and I promise i’m so excited to become apart of your family.” You pick up the phone to see his face. You and Joe had a funny dynamic. Technically you had only been together for a month, but you fell for him way before that. The day you were hired by the Bengals you knew there would be a professional problem because you became addicted to him. His looks, his jokes, just being around him was like a drug for you and you knew there was no escaping. You were definitely a little nervous about meeting his parents, but you were excited that this was happening. It made this whole dream feel a little more real.
The next morning you wake up in Joes arms. The two of you spend the morning getting ready and Joe expressing his little worries to you which you insisted he stoped talking about. “You know they’re going to drown you with questions right?” He asks you getting in the car. “Joe, that’s okay, all you need to worry about is your pumpkin pie.” You console him cupping his cheeks as you lean over to kiss them. He glances to the backseat to ensure it’s there, making you laugh.
The drive to Athens is quiet and relaxing, you let Joe have aux for about 15 minutes before you steal the cord. Pulling into his parents driveway, you take in the old red brick home that seems to be gushing with childhood memories. Joe’s parents appear and you meet them with a warm hug and hello. Robin hugs Joe tightly after not seeing him for a few weeks. Walking into the house you’re immediate hit with the sweet smell of cinnamon spice and you can’t help but smile. The four of you take a seat on the couch and Robin explains that others will be joining soon. She asks about your job and how you like working with the organization. “It’s honestly amazing, I worked in Seattle for a while, but it doesn’t even compare to this organization, and it’s nice to be able to work back in my home state,” you say. “It’s definitely something special, they really care.” Jimmy chimes in with a smile. After some more small talk Joe and his dad talk football while Robin gathers photo albums. She sits with you as she shows you baby Joe and gives you a backstory on the pictures. You die over each picture which Joe rolls his eyes at. “I was three!” he yells over your reaction to the picture of him running bare naked in the street with a football in his hand.
You could immediately tell Joes parents were something special, they are a big part of the man he is today and you were so happy you got to join the Burrows.
Others arrive soon after, and the house fills with chatter. You make your way around meeting the others and saying hi to Joes friends who also joined dinner, who you have met before.
You help Robin and Joes aunts in the kitchen for a while, the four of you chattering for hours before Joe pulls you aside.
“So?” he asks. “So what Joey? You want a rating on your family? I love them, I love all of this, I promise. Stop overthinking this and go sit with your friends.” You reach up to kiss him on the cheek and he smiles and nods.
You finish helping with dinner and setting the table with Joe. You all finally sit down together, the table beaming with chatter and laughter. “Thank you all for being with us, those of you who were on time, and those who showed up five minutes ago.” Jimmy says glancing towards Joes brothers, causing everyone to laugh. “I’m just kidding, but really it’s nice to have everyone under the same roof for the holiday.” “we love you all, now please eat!” Robin adds with a smile. You make small talk with different relatives at the table and with Joe. After dinner, you sit with Robin and Joe’s aunts, while the guys do the dishes.
“So y/n, you and Joe are absolutely adorable, really I know that boy and how he is with girls and he is really in love with you.” His mom’s sister comments with a smile. You return the smile and you can’t lie that you felt a blush from that comment. You loved that she picked up on that. “Do you see your family often?” the other sister asks. “Sometimes, most of them are in Pennsylvania so they come to games some times and I just went up there last week to visit.” you respond. Everyone joins in the living room as Joe serves the pumpkin pie. Robin puts on a Christmas movie, insisting that it was now Christmas season, which you couldn’t argue with.
Joe takes a seat next to you and you rest your head on his shoulder. The rest of the night is filled with reminiscing on childhoods and lots of football. You hug everyone goodbye and Robin pulls you in tight. “Thank you y/n” she whispers “he really needs you” she smiles and moves to hug Joe goodbye. The drive home is again a comfortable silence that you happily doze off to, knowing you’re family just expanded tremendously.
