I got to DJ today for the first time in well over a year or so today in the #TowerDistrict for the #NoRezone demonstration. It was a good day, very positive, great showing of solidarity. Here’s the weird thing: at times it was overwhelming. I used to DJ for a living, 3 times a week or more in one of California’s busiest cities, but today I experienced some anxiety and a bit of sadness realizing how little contact I and so many others have had with the human race because of a complete mismanagement of the current pandemic by the previous potus. It felt alien to be in a group doing something that I love. I actually questioned myself as to why I play music and why it’s important to do so. Crazy. The pandemic and 4 years of the worst elements of our society being celebrated by right wing media have really taken its toll. We’ve still got a way to go before we call all really ick and roll all night and party every day together again but the celebration is coming. As for the 5ft tall proud boys and tweedle dee and tweedle dumb with matching red hats trying to own the libs on their camera phones while holding signs suggesting that gods law trumps all gender confusion... well... they can’t come to our awesome party.
