SPINNING

TW - addiction

pass me the lighter

but let’s skip the cigarettes

just hand me the torch

i wanna feel the regret

i wanna get so high

i wanna feel why you left

the taste of the smoke

is nearly so bad

i thought i was swallowing my pain

regurgitate my heart

chew it up

and let it soak in the rain

i expected sparks to fly

and let me tell you

nothing ever came

even the torch went out

it was such a fucking shame!

but the more i smoked

the more it made me think

back to my time with you

and i’m just staring down the sink

because this is it.

with all the drugs i do

nothing would compare

to the time i spent with you

and of course i can’t deny

the obvious appeal of getting high

but i still don’t understand

why

i wasn’t worth more

then the euphoria i feel in my veins

since you said you loved me more

then i could ever love you

but it was her

and i always knew

but maybe i should change my view

addiction is blindness

you couldn’t see past the abuse

and i can’t find a drug heavy enough

because my addiction was always you

i knew you didn’t love me

but i refused to face the truth

addiction is blindness

and i lost sleep over you

so if the first step is to admit

then here it is.

because i’m done with this shit

done with never being enough

i don’t care about the drugs

it’s falling in love

now that’s what’s rough

WEEK 2 - ABUSE

~The colors of Abuse~

[August 8th - August 14th]

Hey guys! I know this post is late! Me and Kae have had a rocky week, we’re okay!😂 Just didn’t get the chance to post as promptly as we had wanted to! Week two for Mindless Vices we wanted to focus on abuse (mental and/ or physical). With the theme being colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink! We will be writing and sharing pieces on abuse, that tie in one of those 7 colors! We can’t wait to see what everyone writes and comes up with! We encourage anyone wanting to participate in this writing challenge with us, to absolutely do so!! Cant wait to see everyone’s work🤍

Shut off

And taken from myself

Am I a hostage

Or am I somebody else

It seems the world shrinks in

Taking from a grin

To miserable

Like I’m the joker

Who just met my twin

Unable to understand

I’m psychotic

Broken and grand

Too perfect

Too bland

Yin drops to the other side

To yang like sand

An hourglass

Trickling over time

Within seconds

I go from chains

To gains

Clashing and gnawing

With teeth as I’m falling

Yet opposition brings me near

A breaking with each time

Finding me with a tear

A smile turned real

Questioning if this is something I can feel

Like 21,

There is no joker here

I’ve hit the jackpot

Seconds that clear

But with happiness

There is also sadness

Where moments take me

From concerned

To thoughts of

Do I deserve this?

Embracing each written piece

I found the reason yang met yin

Becoming a close knit friend

With what I thought was a greatest sin

Honesty had me question

What was within

It was at a place

Where misery found my face

That I had to learn

How to even the score

Of brokenness felt to the core

Taking the tragic

To self-care moments sporadic

The small things

Making me ecstatic

Shutting down what I couldn’t know

I let it be

Finding I’d grow

Because where darkness creeps in

Yang finds yin

Hello lovelies🤍 I’m a little late in the day posting this, but today is the beginning of week one for #MindlessVices, the writing collaboration/ challenge hosted by me and my clone @disruptivebychoice and for those of you who don’t know, my name is Ophydia:) The theme this week is ~The Cycles of Life and Death~ with the spotlight on addiction. Addiction has strongly impacted both mine and Kae’s lives in so many different ways, and so many others as well. Me and Kae will be writing and sharing an addiction piece tying into ~The Cycles of Life and Death~

Hello my dear fellow poets, and writers🤍 So me and my clone @disruptivebychoice, have put together a very special collaboration for the month of August. Since we both have but stuck in this strange writers block the past few months, and know that a lot of you have as well-

We wanted to create a special collab/ challenge that all of you other beautiful writers could join in as well. The theme for this month is: Mindless Vices. We have separated the challenge into 4 separate parts, and each week will have a sub-theme tying itself to the overall Mindless Vices. Me and Kae will be announcing the theme for week 1 tomorrow, as well as sharing a piece of our own!

THE LETTER

i opened the letter from you

for the very first time

ever since the day i died

and my throat restricted

more

with every single line

from the beauty

of every single lie

so thought out

and empty

i barely had to cry

“for better or worse”

you’d be here through it all

and you were here

waiting

until i’d trip and fall

so many promises

unnecessary

and bottomless

reading your words i wonder

if your heart was made of stone

when you sought me out for years

and could have just left me alone

each page

i felt

more

enraged

consuming me

in a fire full of hate

i should have used those flames

to burn that letter

and incinerate every page

watch the smoke

spell every word

that your promises would say

but all that i could do

was lock it up

and save it for a rainy day
