“Στάχτη έγινε το Δάσος της Δαδιάς στον Έβρο. Καίγεται συνεχόμενα εδώ και τέσσερις μέρες. Καίγεται και η Βάλια Κάλντα, ο σημαντικότερος βιότοπος της καφέ αρκούδας στην Ελλάδα. Κάηκε το βουνό της Πεντέλης, καίγεται η Λέσβος, καίγονται περιοχές στην Ηλεία και στην Μεσσηνία. Ειλικρινά δεν ξέρουμε τι να πούμε. Να πούμε για τα κατοικίδια και τα οικόσιτα ζώα; Να πούμε ελευθερώστε τα έστω και μην τα αφήσετε να καούνε δεμένα και εγκλωβισμένα; Να πούμε για τα άγρια ζώα που μετριούνται πλέον στα δάχτυλα; Όσα άγρια ζώα επιβιώσουν αναγκαστικά θα εκτοπιστουν, θα πλησιάσουν οικισμούς και χωριά. Μην τα ενοχλείτε, μην τα πλησιάζετε. Αφήστε όσο νερό μπορείτε όπου μπορείτε, και δώστε τους την ευκαιρία να ζήσουν με το να μην τα ενοχλείτε καθόλου. Και ας οδηγούμε με προσοχή, ειδικά το βράδυ. Τότε θα κυκλοφορούν τα περισσότερα, όσα έχουν μείνει ζωντανά τουλάχιστον. Αφού σώθηκαν από την φωτιά, ας μην καταλήξουν κάτω από τις ρόδες ενός αυτοκινήτου. Καλό κουράγιο σε όλους και μακάρι σε μερικά χρόνια να μπορούμε ακόμα να αναπνέουμε.”

Και κάπως έτσι γινόμαστε Dog rescue. Ο Χίπης - όπως τον ονομάσαμε - νοσηλεύεται στο νοσοκομείο μικρών ζώων «Κυανούς Σταυρός» στη Χαλκίδα. Είναι θετικός σε ερλίχεια, καλαζάρ, έχει ψώρα και αναιμία. Ευτυχώς τα νεφρά είναι εντάξει. Θα νοσηλευτεί ένα μήνα και το κόστος θα είναι 900€. Animal Welfare NGO “Save a Greek Stray” filed a lawsuit against the two dog kennels run by the Municipality in Sparti for the appalling conditions in which some 400 animals are being kept. The lawsuit has been filed “against anyone responsible for the crime of animal abuse in both kennels of the Municipality” in south Peloponnese. The NGO also has called for the prosecutor to issue the relevant orders for the removal of the sick and dying animals in both shelters.

One of them is in Agia Kyriaki and one in Xyrokampi.

The video shot by volunteers of “Save a Greek Stray” shows and tragic and appalling conditions in both kennels: Dead dogs in advanced decomposition and still in chains. Some 200 souls to live on tones of faeces, others chained on areas full of sewage. Everywhere emaciated animals who are obviously sick.
