I legit didn't sleep for the entire night bcs i can't stop reading it's just that GOOD. The quality and lenght of this series are amazing. House of Prince Theo is the base of my fanon Theo. Smart, Observant, Loyal and utterly Scary. Theo who's very devoted with  his traditions. Theo who wield KNIFES. And it doesn't need to be said but Harry is also amazing in this one. He's stubborn, strong, and utterly loyal. Not Dumbledore or Sirius friendly though so i do warn you if you like both of them.

The answer machine beeps again; someone’s going to leave him another message. He hears his voice. It sounds so alive. They sound so happy. It’s getting harder to hear his voice these days; it’s getting harder to accept that he’s gone. He wonders what the person leaving a message is saying this time; probably offering their condolences, trying to send a message of hope through a stupid muggle machine, it’s all people seem to be doing these days. Theodore Nott is dead and Harry Potter doesn’t know how to carry on living.

We have too much fluff therefore i need to recommend some angst. It's a bleak world for Harry without Theo there.

I dont really have one. It always changes for me. I like trying a new ship so i think the majority of my fics are different ships.

honestly, Im starting to think Echoes wont be finished. i havent had the want to write it all year and i dont think the first parts are really my best writing. so part of me might even delete and rewrite it if i start getting the vibes to pursue it again.

characterization. i love fanfic because i can use the base of what we know and grow from the tiny details to make fully developed ones. its hard for me to read some fics that the characterization doesnt match what i know from the books without explanation. like its hard for me to see hermione as a sugar baby for money and loves being doted on because i dontt hink that matches her from the books but like if you can explain she gets her strength and independence from manipulating men then im like yes okay im on board.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

im awful with commas. everyone else loves them but i forget them so much grammarly is always yelling at me.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

nah. i've been living in italy for a month now and the only words i know are ciao and allora LOL - if i want it i ask someone to translate for me

Since you’ve given your thoughts on the Romione ship, what do you think of Hinny? And what other ships besides Dramione do you enjoy for HP?

Hopefully this answer will not elicit the same response as my post on R0mione. 😂 (which I tagged anti, but I'm not anti Hinny, so this might work better).

First on my other ships: I enjoy Slytherdorships. Besides Dramione I love Paneville and I have a rather soft spot for NottPott and Hansy. I also like Bluna, mostly because I have quite a lot of headcanons about them. Neville and Luna are my fav characters and I also like them together but I think I can get into almost every Luna or Neville ship, lol.

My feelings about Hinny are a bit ambiguous, because my criticism of JKR comes a bit in the way.

In general I think that it's better done than R0mione and I actually like them together.

It is clear that Harry likes sportive women and he likes women who have a bit of sass. We see women from his PoV and it's the self-confident women who get his sympathy. Her straightforwardness is also something that Harry also likes in other people. It is also clear that Harry's yearning for the family he never had is fulfilled by Ginny. Ginny is not only a woman he is attracted to but also a woman who can give him the home and the backing he always longed for. It might have been any family, but as an added bonus it's the Weasleys, the family that had adopted Harry from the very beginning.

From Ginny's PoV Harry is also a bit of wish fulfillment - but only if you think that getting together with the boy you had a crush on since forever is a good thing. Other than the fact that Ginny was in love with Harry forever we don't really know if Harry fits to her from her point of view. They both are into Quidditch, so there's that, but other wise we don't really know how her taste runs (but that is the problem of the books being written from Harry's PoV). It could well be that Harry fits as well to Ginny as vice versa, at least there is nothing I could point my finger at that could be put up as an argument against them.

There is also the fact that they have a history. Harry saves Ginny in second year. Ginny is one of the people who backs Harry in book five and fights with him. She has Harry's back in book six (even in cases where she should be a bit more skeptical).

So, all in all I think it works but I don't think it is a compelling ship - not to me. But then I'm into angst, and I think JKR could have upped on the angst of the ship. Harry's fear that R0n might not like him with Ginny makes no sense to me. I never got the angst of "She is the sister of my best friend!" because I don't think this is a hindrance at all. A best friend should be happy if you get with his sister? I think there would have been a big potential for angst if both Harry and Ginny would be unsure if their attraction is due to the fact that they both held a piece of Voldemort's soul. Ginny held a pretty big piece if only for a time and Harry a tiny piece for years. I think there is a fic somewhere that explores that? And I would love to read it.

Now, to my criticism - which is mostly about JKR's writing. And it is obviously my opinion.

I have a bit of a problem with Ginny (cf. my post on her): Her character develops a lot over the books, but it happens mostly off screen. It is plausible all in all, but I would have liked to see more of her development - especially how she overcame her trauma. Ginny is a steadfast friend (look at how she is nice to Luna) and she is straightforward. But Ginny is also the opposite of the girly girl and I dislike how JKR treats girls girls. And I dislike that both Harry and R0n have to get over a girly girl (Cho and Lavender) before they get together with the "superior" type of girl, but that is on JKR.

It is also on JKR that Ginny somehow has no say in how their children are named (apart from Luna as second name for the girl - could be both Harry and Ginny who chose that)? But let’s not delve into that. That comes close to Cursed Child territory and I avoid that.

So, I can't help my feeling that Ginny - although she is a character with depth - was nevertheless written especially to be the perfect fit for Harry. And I have ambiguous feelings about that. On the one hand Harry is the hero of the series but on the other hand I think characters should be more than a role they have in the hero’s tale. Ginny is more than the trophy girl for Harry but only just, and hence my ambiguity in regard to the ship.

I love Hinny art very much!

Part One

If this was how he was going to die .. no damn he was not happy about it.

He could feel it, the breaking skin shifting beneath his clothes, glued with the aftermath of rain to his skin, patched with mud and long dried stains of blood. He gave a short exhale, through the spiking pain of his shin with each footfall as his fingers seemed to mould into the creases of Potter’s jacket.

His arm was slung around his shoulders, and Theo wanted to feel something close to resentment as his eyes squinted through the dark of the night, their aching bodies colliding with each gruelling step along the old country road. Wanted too. But instead was stuck with the burden of relief in his own treacherous emotions.

“You’re not going to die Nott”

He jerked a little, catching the bubble of pain behind his gritted teeth as his foot stumbled and struck a loose stone on the ground, weeds crawling up against the road and threatening to claw at his dragging ankle. The makeshift bandage of cloth rubbed, and holy fuck the cut was not deep but it stung like hell.

Potter glanced at him, those eyes, his tanned skin shadowed by the darkness but those eyes, deep with a soldier's gaze, polished with something warm, and they rolled up towards the sky. Theo bristled, but didn’t ask how Potter knew. Maybe he’d said it allowed, his lips seemed to do that more frequently now, the consequence of a lack of human interaction he supposed.

“Oh yes, my saviour,” he bit back instead, and there’s more relief rolling down his back because at least he still had sarcasm. Except he was, he was being saved by Harry goddamn Potter and he didn’t entirely hate it.

Rather him than — well , just about anyone.

“How’d you find me?”

He asks before their silence could feel as threatening as the noise, and Potter shifted his hand, Theo could feel it curling tighter into the side of his jacket. For the first time since his figure had appeared before his hazy eyes twenty four hours ago he asked the question that had been rattling around his head.

“How’s your leg?”

Theo sighs through his nose, and scowls.

“Would it kill you to answer my questions?” He snapped, swinging his head against his aching muscles to glare into the shadows of his face. Potter had a stubble growing on his jawline.

They talked about that once.

‘Ginny hexed Michael , you should’ve seen the moustache’

‘I’m not sure I want that image, thank you’ his nose wrinkled automatically

‘Not a fan of facial hair?’ Harry was grinning, he could hear the smile in his voice, their bodies pressed up in the sheets on the floor. Theo turned his head, his vision skewered by messy locks, curling in their growth and shifted himself closer.

‘Not on Michael Corner.’ He muttered and they fell into a gentle silence.

‘I don’t think I’d like it,’ Harry mused after a moment, and they’re moving again, both of them, and then Theo is met with his face staring back.

‘I think you could pull it off.’

A lifetime ago, and Theo could hardly remember what got them to that moment. It felt easier then, and harder, like some paradox coiled around his chest until his ribs hurt, and that smile seemed the only way to loosen the rope.

He didn’t love him. He wasn’t sure he knew what love was. He wasn’t sure if he could give that love. It was a companionship that began with a cup of tea in a cafe and Draco Malfoy.

Potter had been alone, Theo had been intrigued, and Malfoy had been in a bad mood. Or maybe he’d been in a good one. Draco was hard to read like that, he liked to pretend but theo wasn’t sure even Draco knew what he was pretending to be. He never did a very good job. Potter hadn’t risen to it, the bait Malfoy was spitting on the table, they’d caught eyes past the blonde’s pointed ear and shared a resigned look that simply said ‘he’s at it again’.

They say it’s history from there, but Theo would disagree, the rest had not been history, the rest had been an abundance of messy talks and soft cotton blankets and spitting venom and trust. trust. where had that gone?

“-heo? your leg?”

As of his memories had been encased in the same haunting night, the world moulded back into reality and he coughed the bitterness from his tongue.

“It’s fine.”

Potter hummed, his muscles shifting and Theo felt himself lean into the opening a little more, the silent offering as they came to notice a bulging light up ahead that was gone as quickly as he blinked, as his weight transferred a little more to Potter's hands.

He’d grown. That annoyed Theo.

“I was passing through.”

Not really an answer, and Theo felt his teeth grind a little more, his jaw beginning to ache as Potter jerked them off the road towards the bushes.

“Where-?”

Instinctively he began to pull back. They’d been picked off one by one before, there’d been rumours and whispers like forest fires sparking their way through the stragglers, the lost that kept on running with nowhere to hide. He’d heard all about the once with false safety, lured out to safe houses to find themselves in the hands of the enemy.

He’d heard it from Creevey, who’d seen MacMillans body.

“Easy, Nott,” And it was the softest Potter had sounded as his body recoiled backwards, and he found he couldn't move anyway, a dizzying spin as his leg shook beneath his weight. “Here.”

The world swam for a moment, as Potter released him, and Theo felt his fingers twitch. A hand was clasped on his shoulder, loose enough for him to rip off if he must. He lifted his ankle from the found and found himself gripping the hand, needing that anchor. There was a shuffle, and then a ripple in front of his eyes and he watched the wards split open like a bulge, a tear in barbed wire nuts enough for them to slip through.

Potter didn’t release his wand, and Theo would have thought him mad if he had. He’d already proven his identity, it were to be believed. There were a thousand reasons not to trust this, and yet he couldn’t think of a single one.

So he heaved a breath and stumbled through the wards, hoping he wasn’t about to be murdered. He’d take dying roadside with Potter over that.

Stretched out before him came gravel, and Theo recognised it must have been an old muggle pub and car park, turned into a base. It looked, in a strange sort of way, rather comforting. Nothing like to leaky cauldron, for one, it was still standing. It was rickety, like some old medieval tavern, his eyes scanned the shapes of the wood and the old words etched in. There were lights, he wondered if that were a stupid idea, but the lanterns were warm and the windows alight was more inviting than anything had been the past few years.

They enjoyed history, himself and Blaise, not when Binns was teaching but their own history lessons. They’d grab library books and disappear to a corner or back up to their dorm. It began out of obligation to have high grades in everything, and then it became something they found interesting .. even, on occasion, the muggle stuff.

Potter's arm was back around his waist, and they made their way across the gravel to the door. There was a knock, and Theo gripped the wall beside them as Potter leaned closer , loosening his grip to murmur something through the door.

There were more secure ways to check. Theo wondered if they were being reckless on purpose.

Weasley was there leaning in the doorway with that infuriating smirk looking far too relaxed and a raised eyebrow.

“They buggered you well and good then.”

“You’re as subtle as ever.” He drawled back, and Weasleys smirk widens a little more, there’s a glint in his eye, something ravenous and Theo gets it. They all do. It’s finding those snippets of normality, those arguments they once hated, they come to crave - but it’s too dangerous to truly argue, it means losing sense and they couldn’t afford that.

Potter shifted impatiently, and shot a pointed look at the youngest Weasley male — no , no the youngest Weasley now. It was in the lines on his face, drawn and scarred. He’d heard about her death some time ago. Something passed between them silently, and the red head stepped back to let them through.

Theo would be lying if he said there wasn’t a small pang of jealousy there.

They used to do that across the hall, or the classroom , sometimes in the corridors. Hogwarts was so long ago , he wasn’t even sure it was still standing.

Theo hobbled over the step, and there’s something washing over his face. More wards. The familiar ones, numerous occasions, the last ditch attempt to keep the enemy out of it were the case. And nothing happens.

He lets out a breath he’s not aware he’d held and he grunted, as Potter dislodged him into a chair. It’s still laid out like a pub, and there are figures scattered across the room, few and far and many pressed as far away from the others as possible. There’s a fire going in the corner, the fireplace seemed the only magnificent thing about it, and yet Theo finds his eyes drawn up to the bar.

Dean Thomas. He’s sat behind the counter drying a glass. It something so normal, intimate even, as if he had always been there and that there was not a war raging over their heads.

That draws Theo’s attention, their bodies half caught in the light, half silhouetted by the dark, maybe if he were not as exposed as them, he would’ve have found those grim expressions intimidating.

“Three of ours went down this morning. No word from Carlisle.”

Something expanded in his chest for a moment, like this gallon of hope and the expansive gallows of the sea infused to the flesh of his lungs.

There were mostly rumours of bases here and there. But if they had Carlisle ..

He sucked in a breath and coughed, with a sharp groan that slipped past his gritted teeth as he misguided his footing and smacked his leg against the table.

A hand gripped his shoulder, and his eyes flickered open from the swallowing pools of darkness that threatened to succumb to his body. Harry stared down at him, the concern billowing in his eyes were warm, though disconcerting with the shadows still tattered across his face and stiff with a war hardened stone.

Theo assumed he found what he was looking for as his eyes finished their scrutiny of his face and jerked up to Weasley once more.

Again, those silent eyes and he couldn’t decipher it. He missed friendship.

I read lethal combination and LOVED it. the whole mystery about magic, the nottpott and the groupchat, god it was amazing. it was really refreshing, in the terms of plot and ships. all I want is for someone to forge me a sword too ugh (think theo would do one for me if I asked him?)

I haven't read nobility/DFS/HTWFAIP yet, and I'm saving those for last, I just started the atlas six and bought masters of death. I'm currently binging on all your works (I usually can't binge because of my ADHD) and you are THAT amazing of a writer.

I brought up that fic's storied history because I'm aware it didn't vibe with a lot of people (which they were all too happy to inform me while it was being written, but I am cool with us having secrets from each other!!) in any case, I hope you enjoy the rest of my works—in general, I do think you are unlikely to run into the same problem of not vibing with the way dramione is written since Paradox is pretty unique in that respect (minus Nobility, potentially, which is... 60%? 75%? tomione, and generally more about the relationship between two female rivals than it is about the romance)

2019 Fic List

This is gonna get a little awkward since I have 3 AO3 accounts, I’m not gonna bother specifying which is which here, just know that all the linked fics/accounts here are mine. 

In terms of past years, 2019 was a terrible year for me, my worst yet (me judging myself against my personal expectations for myself, not a statement about what is or isn’t a good year in general for anyone else), but seeing it all summarised helps me deal with feeling crap about that, even if it’s mostly all really short stuff, it’s still a lot of fics, and I’m still learning how my chronic illness affects my writing and how to work around it and trying to adjust my own expectations =)

-You know, after all of that, I’m most surprised that there was only 1 month I didn’t post anything. I really thought it would be more than that. It’s been such a terrible year for me (relative to other years, I know I still get a lot done, I’m only judging myself against myself and my past performance here), but doing stuff like this is always good cos I can’t argue with numbers. My health and mental health was so bad this year, I just have to remember that writing anything at all is a win, past Zoe was a freak with how much fic she pushed out, I’ll never get to that 2016/2017 level again, I gotta learn to accept that.

-I’m still blown away that my fics in other fandoms got more reader engagement this year than HP/Drarry in most cases 👀 that was unexpected and a lovely surprise considering I have no established reader base for them.

-I will get that Sapphic September prompt list done eventually, I have 2 pre-written too but they’re later days and I want to post in order XD

-And I still have a bunch of prompts gathered through my google prompt form that I’ll get to eventually as well, sorry to everyone still waiting (whoever remembers they’re waiting XD). Tbh, aside from just struggling with writing in general lately, a lot of the prompts are exactly the same/similar but with different ships (or just straight up several of the same prompt with the same ship) and it’s a bit of a buzzkill.

We’ll see how 2020 goes.

pairings that took you by surprise?

Are you kidding me? Nothing surprises me anymore in the insane world of fandom to be honest.

But here we go anyway:

NottPott: yeaaah, I got sucked into the Olivie Blake world rip.

Drarry: So I didn’t think I’d be able to enjoy Draco with anyone other than Hermione? (I shipped them and only them for three years rip) but I did and I’m in love with them.

Romione: This was even worse for me because Draco with another person? Fine. But Hermione belongs with Draco, or so I thought. They’re usually together in most Drarry fics and I really enjoy them!!

Pansy, Ronsy, Paneville, bascially Pansy x Gryffindor: I’m a sucker for Slytherdor pairings so I’m not really surprised? But I’m surprised by how much I enjoy them!

Lunarry: This is the purest pairing and I’m so glad I found it.

Draco x Neville: yeah I know. I saved the best for last. I don’t know what to make of this ship, other than that it makes me feel good things.
