Am I broken? Yes.
Am I disappointed? Hell yes.
Do I want to have some words with CBS? Very much so.
But, am I surprised? Absolutely not. I guess we were all expecting to be left on a cliffhanger.
Could I BE more devastated? 🫠

Re: showrunner Jason Tracey talking about Josh/Allie "I think people will be happy with how we say goodbye at the end of this episode."
Happy?? HAPPY?! Pleased, maybe. I definitely feel robbed. Robbed of the potential they could've had. Season 4 would have been their season!
(I do understand what he was trying to say, but happy was not the right word choice.)

Elimination Round Group 4
This is the second of two elimination polls that I'll post today. The top three scorers in this group of 10 will get the three spots left in Group 4 of the bracket! This poll only goes one day, so vote quick!
Endorsement/blurbs under the readmore!
Catherine Willows, CSI: Vegas is one of the top labs in the country. Blood splatter expert but obviously knowledgable about forensics generally. Good with people. Single mother and that’s a hard balance.
Amanda O'Neill, Little Witch Academia: Broomstick flying, thievery, disguises, not giving a fuck
Cynthia, Pokémon: She's fucking cool.
Gwendolyn Briggs, Ratched: Knows her way both in the world of politics and the queer circles of 1940s California
Jenny Calendar, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Technology and Witchcraft
Eileen Leahy, Supernatural: Monster hunting, putting up with people's bullshit, they tried to kill her off but she just came back stronger and better // she kills monsters, she teaches her boyfriend sign language, she kicks ass and takes names
Margo Hanson, The Magicians: Leadership. Margo is a badass bitch who can take control of any situation. Besides saving the world with her friends, she became high queen AND high king of an entire realm. With perseverance she lead rebellions against corrupt governments and systems and empowering women against their abusers. She uses her loud attitude and fearlessness to bring out the best in others and lead them through revolution.
Laura Roslyn, Battlestar Galactica: Leading the survivors of the thirteen colonies to find a new home world while simultaneously trying to defeat/ make peace with the cylons
Mrs S / Siobhan, Orphan Black: Keeping secrets, protecting those she loves, general badassery

i’ve been rewatching csi from the beginning (because i’ve never been able to make it past season 9 without grissom) and i’m finally up to the end of season 7… i have like 3 episodes left and i’m SAD. this team dynamic is so special to me and i feel this slow crawl of devastation that i’m (again) witnessing the end of what has been for 7 seasons. soon sara won’t be her usually cute and passionate self (in love too) that we get see in season 7, and she’ll leave, and then warrick is going to die, and grissom will leave… and nothing will ever be the same on this show. i don’t know how to get over it. how did you do it? how do i move on? how do i mourn this team dynamic that i’ve loved for so long and get used to new variations of the team? god, i wish grissom came back for a proper full ep earlier than the freaking series finale and the new show. i’m just not sure how to enjoy without them all 😭
hi, anon!
yours is a very heartfelt question, and, unfortunately, i am probably the wrong person to answer it, because i never really "got over" the changes to the show post-s7, either.
not gonna lie to you: i have only watched the s10-s15 era of the show once through in its entirety.
the s8 and s9 angst i can deal with in order to get to the happy gsr ending in episode 09x10 "one to go." however, i hate all later seasons of the show beyond that point with all the salt that is in me, not only because of the cast turnover but also because the writing and production values of the show changed so much as to make the series (and the remaining characters) unrecognizable.
most of the time, i just straight-up ignore the fact that those seasons exist, preferring to imagine my own canon-divergent au version of the show (starting from the end of s7) instead.
i really do not engage with them unless someone sends me an ask.
that so, i can't exactly tell you how to learn to accept the new team or get comfortable in that altered narrative landscape. i never did, on either count.
instead, my advice is this: keep in mind you're not obligated to finish watching csi if doing so isn't enjoyable to you. you fell in love with a particular group of characters, story universe, and cast dynamic, and if those things went away or ship of theseus'd themselves into a production that is fundamentally different from the one you fell in love with in every way save name, you don't have to stick around anymore.
remember: you're watching this show as a hobby, not a job.
the #1 rule of fandom is to follow your bliss, so if you're not naturally motivated to finish the series—and especially if the thought of doing so is actively causing you dread—then you don't have to force the issue.
give yourself permission to say, "for me, the series ends with episode 08x01 'dead doll' or episode 09x10 'one to go' (or wherever you want to draw your line in the sand)" and then walk away.
if you need closure, write your own au version of what happens after that point or else find some fanfic author whose vision aligns with your own. keep living blissfully in your s1-s7 happy place with the original team graveyard, where grissom is the boss and sara stays in vegas and warrick doesn't die and they all keep solving cases together until retirement.
and then don't sweat it.
you're not being a "bad fan" or letting anyone down, and there's still plenty of material in the early seasons for you to engage with.
now.
if you absolutely feel you must finish the show (for whatever reason), i guess one thing i might suggest is to engage with work from fans who genuinely enjoy the later seasons. i know there are some folks in this fandom who adore the new characters and team graveyard version 2.0. they write meta and fic and make gifsets about it, and they have a total blast doing so. hanging around their blogs might help you to find things to appreciate.
another thing you might do is give yourself permission to "cherry-pick." watch just to see what happens. if there's stuff you like, go ahead and incorporate it into your conception of the show. the rest, discard. as i said above, you're not obligated to enjoy the show in a certain way and especially not "across the board." so if you like the fact sara has mother-in-law drama but hate the fact she gets divorced? then keep the first thing and toss out the second. if canon makes a stupid-ass decision, you can elect to ignore it.
and regardless of whether you ultimately decide to finish out your watch-through or not, don't forget: the beginning of the story—i.e., those seven golden seasons you so love—will always be there, and you can return to them as often as you want. the beauty of a story is that it exists in perpetuity. grissom, catherine, warrick, nick, sara, and greg will all still be there waiting for you, and you can continue to enjoy their dynamics however you best prefer them.
good luck, anon! if you choose to continue your watch, i hope you enjoy yourself. if not, then i hope you have fun mentally setting up shop in the early seasons.
i certainly do!
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

I have to say, I am exceedingly annoyed by the decisions CBS/Paramount Global made with canceling CSI Vegas and So Help Me Todd, but I am deeply upset that they canceled NCIS Hawaii without even giving them a chance to wrap up storylines or alter the show in any way. It is also concerning that the shows they canceled are female-led, or filled with strong women characters, and with NCIS Hawaii and CSI Vegas, with strong WoC characters in positions of power. It is a distressing thought that they viewed this shows as expendable.
There are a few small chances that NCIS Hawaii can be saved, if Paramount Global is sold and the buyer wants to bring back the show that will probably make them good money if they get enough episodes for syndication. But there is also fan power, we got SWAT brought back for 2 seasons, so let's do this y'all.

Stargate-Atlantis S5: E19 Vegas
It's just shot so perfectly. Feels just like CSI.
Sheppard's wardrobe in this episode is excellent
Wraith have good taste in music. Not surprising.
Gambler: Aren't you a little out of your league here?
Sheppard: What are you, my mother?
🤣
When alternate-Rodney shows up I want to cheer. Then he starts tearing Sheppard's life apart. When this Sheppard disobeyed orders, civilians and soldiers died, and he was dishonorably discharged. Poor man. No wonder he's so beat down.
Alternate Rodney: Somehow, you've managed to live with yourself since then.
This alternate Rodney knows there's a better, stronger, braver version of Sheppard, and he believes that Sheppard is still here in Solitary-Sheppard. For some reason, that is incredibly moving and I love Alternate Rodney for looking for that better man.
Alternate-Todd is so pitiable.
Oh man, the micro-expression on Sheppard's when Rodney tells him Todd is in his head.
It doesn't matter if you're in an alternate universe, Rodney and Radek will argue.
In case this Sheppard isn't breaking your heart enough, we find out the person he broke orders for in Afghanistan wasn't a buddy, but the woman he loved.
Alternate Rodney: Still, I'd like to believe you have the same strength of character.
😭😭😭
Rodney tells Solitary-John that in the other universe there is a team like his, except Sheppard leads it. Sheppard doesn't really believe him, but that tiny bit of hope painful cracks open his armor. He could be a better man, he could lead, he could be a hero.
In our universe, Sheppard is the man in black standing up for the weak.
In this universe, he's the Solitary Man, who dies for the world.
And that makes me so sad.
And then you have the moment, the moment where Solitary-John is running away with the cash, he puts it all together, looks at the cash, and then comes back. He comes back, because you can break this man, ruin him, run him over, and he'll get up and keep coming, he'll stand between, taking every shot, every blow, to save the world.
I find it beautiful that Sheppard is wearing a cross. It subtly tells us he's going to die to save others.
Just in case this show hasn't quite ripped my heart out enough, it's going to end this beautiful episode with Sheppard dying alone, but still a hero, even if the world would never know.

Writer Interview Tagged by @frostysfrenzy
About me
When did you start writing? - my earliest memories of writing are back in elementary school, making up stories about animals and writing from the point of view of dogs and eventually graduating into fanfiction for CSI when I was 13.
Are there different genres or themes you enjoy reading other than the ones you write?- genres or themes don’t really matter to me, I’m more character invested. If someone writes a CSI fic, I will read it.
Is there an author you want to emulate or are compared to often?- I don’t think I have ever been compared to anyone else as a writer but I used to have mad respect for JK Rowling before shit hit the fan with her. I modeled a lot of my early formats after her, style, dialogue, shock, ending chapters a certain way, etc. I do love Taylor Swift and even though she writes songs, she has a good prose and I wish I could write like her.
Can you tell me a little about your writing space?- when I was a teenager, I wrote under my school work during class, all through high school and college, I used to write in the basement of my home and the kitchen, I could never write in my room because the vibe always felt off, plus my CSI posters were on the wall for years and writing the characters while the posters watched me felt unnerving even though they are not real! I’m insane I know.
What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?- watching CSI, maladaptive daydreaming, discussing the show and characters with others. Hearing a song that reminds me of the show or the characters.
Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and/or places you write?- lol no. Quite the opposite, I wanted to escape my hometown (still waiting) and writing about Vegas and Seattle and places I’ve never been sort of helped that but now it just bothers me that I still haven’t traveled to any of these places.
Are there any reoccurring themes in your writing? If so, do they surprise you?- death, romance, angst, and Julie Finlay coming back to life after a coma. None of them surprise me at all, maybe the romance side of it since I’ve never had love so idk how I write it for fake couples.
About My Characters
Would you please tell me about your current favourite character?- Well shes not mine but JULIE FINLAY is my love, life, everything. 10/10 would go to war for her.
Which of your characters would you be friends with in real life?- Julie Finlay, Sara Sidle, basically anyone from CSI. (not my characters but I wish)
Which of your characters would you dislike the most if you met them?- I don’t write much about the early seasons of CSI and Ray Langston wasn’t my favorite so I don’t think I would like him in real life if he existed. Laurance Fishburn is cool though, just got dealt a shitty character.
Tell me about the process of coming up with characters.- I struggle to make OC’s. I only piggy back off what the show has done. Finn’s mother was giving the name Karen so I just made up a mother character for her based off just that name. I also made a father and aunt for her and a child she fosters then later adopts in some of my fics.
Do you notice any recurring traits/themes in your characters?- not really. If its a CSI character, I try to keep them as true to the show as possible. If it’s an OC, I make them different than most people I know in real life or true to the way they were raised (Finn’s mother is strict and rigid and very 1950’s housewife vibes while also being a progressive feminist in her work as a school teacher, working during the 60s-70s which wasn’t that common for women back then, and in the way she deals with raising Finn) while her father is a highly intelligent doctor who is often a peace keeper for his wife and daughter who butt heads often, an unbothered but stressed man who harbors a secret about his sister and came from an abusive family but broke the cycle, adores his family, would never hurt them, saves lives daily)
How do you picture your characters?- Once I get a single image the first go around, it usually doesn’t change. Most of them probably look like customers I see at work or people I have seen on TV.
About My Writing
What's your reason for writing?- at first, it was to keep me alive, I expected to make a career out of it, I expected to write for CSI specifically, naive to think the show would last that long, now I use it just as a hobby as it has sort of ruined my life because I spent too much time during my formative years hiding away with it instead of making friends like I should have been doing. Balancing priorities was not my forte at 16.
Is there any specific comment or type of comment from readers that you find particularly motivating?- I always enjoy when people pick up on parallels or uses of callbacks to the show that I throw into my work that others might miss, like a detail or reference that is said without saying it and someone gets it. Love that hype.
How do want to be thought about by your readers?- as someone who is not as insane as I seem lol tall order to fill.
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?- giving life to a character that does not have much representation in the fandom (Finn) if I could get the rights to own her, I would.
Have you been told your greatest strength as a writer by others?- not specifically but in comments people have said they like how I convey emotions of the characters and how I don’t need to describe much for them to know what they are feeling or experiencing in a moment.
How do you feel about your own writing?- I’d say a solid 8/10. I could always be better, I wish I could be getting paid to do this, but I also know it has affected my life in a negative way (no friends, no long term relationships because I skipped out on fun stuff to write alone) its a love hate relationship.
If you were the last person on earth, would you still write?- probably, what else would there be to do? When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, do you write purely for yourself, or is it a mix of both?- oh man so in the beginning I had no reservations whatsoever. Now? I think I let others' vibes get to my head and it has caused me to change some formatting and some of my style over the past 2 years or so. It's not a bad thing because it’s making me better but I do spend too much time wondering, will so and so like this if it's written this way or should I do it differently?
