rosarie  had  an  awkward  phase.  which  was  hard  when  your  preteen  years  were  broadcasted  on  your  father's  radio  show.  the  harry  chase  hour  was  played  in  vehicles,  diners,  living  rooms,  and  bars  across  america.  the  beginning  was  fun.  dad  insisted  on  being  called  “mr.  harry”  on  the  show,  and  asked  to  talk  about  things  they  never  would  have  otherwise.  they  had  a  whole  episode  on  whether  or  not  kids  should  eat  candy  for  dinner.  it  was  novel.  until  press  for  the  show  ended  up  getting  the  girls  photographed,  and  it  was  clear  america  had  a  favorite  chase  sister. 

even  with  angel  being  dubbed  “the  cute  one,”  they  were  both  largely  successful.  likeable.  polite.  and  it  was  discovered  after  a  while  that  they  had  great  voices.  that  rosie  mentioning  playing  the  guitar  a  few  times  amounted  to  more  that  what  they  thought  was  a  child  begging  for  attention  for  a  mediocre  skill,  she  was  good.  they  were  signed  immediately,  and  their  label  was  showered  with  affection  for  it.  the  newest  bubblegum  pop  duo  had  started  released  music  under  the  name  sugar  rush,  and  people  loved  them. 

years  into  their  stardom,  tragedy  struck.  a  vacation  adventure  on  atvs  lead  to  angel  being  extremely  injured.  paralyzed  from  the  neck  down,  brain  damage  that  resulted  in  memory  gaps  and  affected  speech.  their  parents  went  into  early  retirement  to  take  care  of  her.  and  rosarie  was  left  alone.  the  other  twin.  the  second  starlet.  the  awkward  one. 

when  she  debuted  as  rosarie  chase  two  years  later,  america  tuned  in  out  of  pity.  the  poor  girl  who  lost  her  sister,  but  wanted  to  continue  doing  music  in  her  memory.  but  that  first  concert  was  electric.  after  performing  some  acoustic  versions  of  songs  from  sugar  rush's  debut  boys  like  the  chase,  the  lights  went  out.  her  name.  her  name,  alone,  was  in  flashing  lights  on  the  stage.  rosarie  chase's  debut  single  starlit  was  iconic.  the  eponymous  album  released  shortly  after  was  everywhere.  people  were  shocked.  they'd  never  seen  her  like  this  before. 

after  years  in  the  spotlight,  pity  melted  away  to  a  fond  nostalgia.  every  now  and  then  pictures  of  the  chase  sister  circulated  on  news  outlets,  but  the  only  comments  was  about  how  they  forgot  how  cute  rosarie  was  before  she  grew  up.  it  was  hard  to  not  feel  a  bit  vindicated.  when  interest  in  her  dipped,  she  fell  into  old  habits.  using  interview  spaces  to  tell  a  story  about  her  most  recent  visit  to  angel's  bedside,  where  she  was  sure  her  sister  had  squeezed  her  hand.  interest  flared.  it  was  like  a  drug.  the  most  interesting  thing  about  rosarie  chase  was  what  happened  to  her  sister,  but  she  didn't  mind.  they  did  like  her  music.  they  just  needed  a  push  to  get  there.

ANOTHER  SAD  LOVE  SONG   ᝰ.ᐟ   her  sister's  ex.  rosarie  remembers  vaguely  the  scandal  that  had  come  from  it.  the  girls  were  freshmen  in  college,  but  the  world  still  saw  them  as  those  little  girls  in  their  stereos.  in  response,  rosarie  had  sworn  off  of  dating.   (   she  loved  having  something  over  angel.   )   now,  with  angel  neatly  sequestered  far  away  from  LA,  rosarie  is  your  only  connection  to  her.  maybe  out  of  some  duty  to  your  first  love,  or  disgust  at  rosarie  taking  advantage  of  angel's  absence,  you  try  to  stay  close. 

SAY  YOU'LL  BE  THERE   ᝰ.ᐟ   her  closest  friend.  a  desperate  co-dependent.  a  surrogate.  a  reluctant  enabler.  rosarie  tries  desperately  to  emulate  her  relationship  with  angel.  the  person  who  could  forgive  you  for  anything,  but  it  doesn't  work  like  that.  all  things  considered,  rosie  is  a  pretty  bad  friend.  flaky.  dramatic.  fickle.  but  she's  a  fun  hang.  a  sweet  girl.  people  love  her.  it's  not  so  bad,  if  you  ignore  how  weird  she  is  in  private.

HOW  WILL  I  KNOW?   ᝰ.ᐟ   ships  in  the  night.  a  friend  of  a  friend  of  a  friend  that  got  photographed  with  rosarie  at  a  dinner.  there  was  an  immediate  spark  in  the  world  when  magazine  covers  named  the  both  of  you.  they  mashed  your  names  together!  surely  that  means  something?  but  you  never  called,  rosarie  never  exactly  tried  to  reach  out.  she  gets  asked  about  you  in  interviews.  she  doesn't  mention  that,  but  saying  you  guys  are  friends,  but  not  close,  doesn't  exactly  satisfy  the  masses.  it  beginning  to  annoy  her  how  much  her  fans  want  you  guys  to  boink!
