“Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino”
Coupled with “Teenage Solution” and “Beat No Wakusei”
Release date: December 8, 2021
Oricon Weekly placement: 2nd
Members: Akane Haga, Ayumi Ishida, Chisaki Morito, Erina Ikuta, Homare Okamura,  Kaede Kaga, Maria Makino, Masaki Sato, Mei Yamazaki, Miki Nonaka, Mizuki   Fukumura, Reina Yokoyama, Rio Kitagawa, Sakura Oda
Morning Musume hardly play coy of their intent behind "Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino." It's all openly displayed in the title, a pouty request to be petted on the head (yoshi yoshi), which the idols spin into a nagging central refrain as well as a point move in the choreography. But they also remain too true to their character for their own good, unable to fully commit to their attemped act of vanity. Before they can completely indulge in the chorus, they quickly put back on a cool, unaffected face in order to maintain the emotionally stoic personality established at least since the beginning of the Numeral era.
The stubbornness in "Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino" calls to my mind songs from their sister groups. I'm thinking in particular of Juice=Juice's single "'Hitoride Ikiraresou'-tte Sorettenee, Hometeiruno?," where their reputation of being seemingly self-sufficient turns into a crutch. Not as overtly referential to the tough and cool as the electric guitar licks of Juice=Juice's record, but the airtight electro-pop production of "Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino" communicates a similar steeliness that spares no room for humor: besides the titular hook and the sentimental shojo refrain, the Tsunku-isms here are conservative, with it relegated to syntax than any singular turns of phrase.
That said, the idols lets in on a sneak peek at a rather dark reason behind their obsession to keep up this facade of perfection. "My smile is my self-defense," they sing in the second verse, and they reiterate on and on about how practically every bit of their professional behavior is their defense mechanism against being perceived, yes, as Tsunku decides to put it, a sentimental shojo -- a too-sensitive girl who doesn't have her shit together. The sheer repetition telegraphs how exhausting an act it is, but their resigned sigh through it all sounds even more heartbreaking with the assumption being they've long given up on anyone hearing them out.
Morning Musume is a prisoner of their own doing in "Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino." Their reputation as a perfection-obsessed idol group validates the narrative within. But to confuse their lack of displaying of emotion as them being entirely indifferent to emotion would be just feeding into a self-fulfilling cycle. Coincidentally, "Yoshi Yoshi Shitehoshiino" is among the first singles with their accompanying music videos being absent of closed captions of its lyrics and its English translations -- one has to read between the lines even closer to see how the idols really feel. And it's cruel how the steeliness of the production but also the idols' performance scrubs any hint of their true insecurity from rising to the surface.

How about Yandere Shuichi’s backstory?
Shuichi's yandere-ism probably stems from his parents basically abandoning him. I know in canon he doesn't really care, but I think it helps if it bothers him here.
So he grows up and when he gets attached to something he gets possessive over it to the point of accidentally crushing his favorite toy.
Then he enters Hope's Peak and the first person to approach him as a person and not a detective is Kaede. She tries to get him to open up and they slowly fall for eachother.
He slowly gets jealous of her family and friends.
Honestly I think in the au he'd kill Natsumi for getting too close to Kaede and frame Sato or he'd highly manipulate Sato into it.
Kaede leans on him for alot of emotional support during this time and that's when he decided to kidnap her.
Take her to the house his parents bought for him and lock her in the basement. Hes given her everything she needs. A bed, a bathroom area, tons of things to do, a piano, food.
Kaede, accepts while she's depressed and mourning. But once she's done morning she demands to be let out. But Shuichi won't.
He doesn't want to be abandoned again.

The title "ISM", has an important meaning to predict the next direction after her 10th anniversary, is VALSHE's style of "principle" and "assertion". "All songs have a completely different genre" is a big part of this commitment. The song "GIFT" retains her winning-digital rock genre, The beats of this song is loud and close together, which sets it apart from other songs, as it shows the essence of the lyrics "You make no mistakes". VALSHE also developed dance and band styles for the MV, which utilises a long-take video style that's fused with her live-style. All songs have a diverse range of genres, such as Japanese-styled funk Romanism, and genres such as K-pop and French Electro, which have been popular is recent years is also done. And as well as an approach to subculture like anime songs, celtic sound, and metal. Where one can experience "VALSHE-ism" that mixes the old and new, the pure essence of "VALSHE" itself, thus the title "ISM" Source: (x)

Death Come True Reveals June 2020 Release Estimate, Cheap as Hell Price, New Trailer
February 6, 2020 7:46 AM EST
Death Come True staff and cast revealed new information and comments on Kazutaka Kodaka’s latest work during a stage event.
Izanagi Games held an event for Death Come True at cinema Shinjuku Wald 9 on February 6, and the event was streamed on YouTube by Famitsu. Here’s what we learned.
The event featured Death Come True Producer Shinsuke Umeda,  Scenarist, Game Director Kazutaka Kodaka, Film Director Hayato Ando, and the cast revealed so far:
Kanata Hongo, who plays the protagonist, Makoto Karaki.
Chiaki Kuriyama, police investigator Akane Sachimura.
Yuki Kaji, the mysterious hotel receptionist.
Win Morisaki, genius police investigator Nozomu Kuji.
Chihiro Yamamoto, psychopath girl Nene Kurushima.
and Jiro Sato, news anchor Kenichi Mino.
The event featured all the cast revealed so far except Jiro Sato.
Death Come True will be available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese.
The theme song of Death Come True will be handled by rock band Kamisama, Boku wa Kizuite Shimatta. The group, known as KamiBoku, already did theme songs for mobile game Star Ocean Anamnesis, the anime Chiruran Nibun no Ichi, and the TV drama Anata no koto wa sorehodo.
Death Come True is currently scheduled to launch in June 2020, on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
The last and most surprising announcement is that Death Come True is scheduled to be sold for 1900 Yen, around 18 dollars, which is incredibly cheap. Producer Shinsuke Umeda explained the game is cheap so that movie fans can try it out. They made the game’s price similar to a movie’s ticket price. UmedaP stressed out this is what they’re planning to do but it’s not set in stone yet, so the price might change a bit.
The cast members also shared spoiler-free impressions on Death Come True. Kanata Hongo mentioned how it has many gimmicks you could only do in a game and is full of Kodaka-ism stuff, meaning you’ll really enjoy Death Come True if you liked Kodaka’s past stuff. Danganronpa fans should look forward to it. Yuki Kaji also mentioned DCT has a lot of content if you’re aiming to 100% it as there are really a lot of different routes with all the choices you can pick.
Jiro Sato, who couldn’t make it to the event, also recorded a video message for it. In a nutshell, he praised the game’s originality as it mixes games and movies, and mentioned how brilliant the other members of the cast were for managing to handle and act all the different routes. He also joked about how he doesn’t know much about games but he knows Death Come True will definitely turn out to be fun.
When the cast and staff shared some last words as the event was ending, Chiaki Kuriyama, in particular, mentioned she’s a huge fan of Yuki Kaji and Kazutaka Kodaka so she was at 200% during the game’s shooting. Death Come True is definitely promising.
The new trailer, narrated by Yuki Kaji, is included below, along with the whole stream if you’re a Yuki Kaji fan and wanna hear his cool voice and brighten your day.
You can read more on Death Come True with our previous coverage, including trailers and comments from the cast and staff, here, here, here, and here.

“Gyuu Saretaidakenanoni”
Coupled with “Junjou Evidence”
Release date: December 16, 2020
Oricon Weekly placement: TBD
Members: Akane Haga, Ayumi Ishida, Chisaki Morito, Erina Ikuta, Homare Okamura, Kaede Kaga, Maria Makino, Masaki Sato, Mei Yamazaki, Miki Nonaka, Mizuki  Fukumura, Reina Yokoyama, Rio Kitagawa, Sakura Oda
If its other half, “Junjou Evidence,” remained a bit lyrically coy on what it tried to get across -- for one, what exactly is the “evidence of innocence” anyway? -- “Gyuu Saretaidakenanoni” is so obvious about its feelings that it would be simply foolish to call any attempt to grab attention here a hint. But Morning Musume’s eye candy here is unfortunately dull enough to not recognize the idols’ gestures even if they hit him on the head. The idols, meanwhile, sound rightfully frustrated.
“Gyuu” begins by making a lyrical callback to a Morning Musume ‘17 album cut, “Watashi No Nannimo Wakacchanai,” almost literally. Like they do in the 15 Thank You, Too song, the idols harp on the song’s main point -- “nanmo wakattenaijanai,” or “you just don’t understand anything” -- repeatedly like they’re putting him in the hot seat. It pairs with the also-repetitive nature of the EDM beat with each run of the throbbing loop onsetting a bigger ounce of guilt, or so seems their strategy. They conclude their guilt-tripping session by emphasizing how neglected they’ve been, and no other lyrics get seared deeper into memory than “usagi-chan syndrome.”
That instantly-viral “bunny syndrome” lyric aside, the contents so far read woefully serious. The chorus sings about regaining control, and sung over a familiar EDM backdrop, it can remind of another “taking the hand of the wheel” song like “Help Me!!” (Funny how that single, too, squeezes in Tsunku-isms before a chorus about taking back glory.) But “Gyuu” doesn’t aspire to speak on any greater ambition other than relieving their own desire for attention. Morning Musume don’t provide much base in the song for it to become some deeper metaphor. It’s all in the title: “I just want you to hold me tight.” Nothing more.
The EDM music carves out a space for Morning Musume to not care for guile or profundity, and it allows for a self-centered persona to come to the forefront. Kaoru Ookubo’s arrangements sound slightly more garish than Shoichiro Hirata’s for “Junjou Evidence.” The loud club synths surely recall the first wave of EDM that peaked during the Colorful Era, but the booming buzzsaw bass line also reminds me of brash-in-retrospect third-wave K-pop that took influence from post-crunk R&B as well as Timbaland and Danja. The datedness brings out some kitsch into the song’s personality, setting up an appropriate place for the idols to fill with shameless playfulness and boasting.
The brashness also helps solve some of Morning Musume’s more aggressive antics as if the loud music is there to distract from the bluntness of the lyrics. The way Morning Musume are drunk on their own desires recall “Shabondama,” particularly in the chorus when they let slip this thinly veiled threat: “do you want me to cry in the middle of this street?” But unlike Rika Ishikawa in that old single, it’s hard to detect any spike in emotion from them; they instead resemble the composed manner of any of their other post-Colorful songs. What I took away from “Gyuu” initially was how frustratingly oblivious the other person was in not getting the hint. But read a bit closer, and it’s clear Morning Musume are not such an easy group to answer to.

“The Vision”
Coupled with “Utakata Saturday Night” and “Tokyo Toyuu Katasumi”
Release date: May 11, 2016
Oricon Weekly placement: 2nd
Members: Akane Haga, Ayumi Ishida, Erina Ikuta, Haruka Kudo, Haruna Iikubo, Haruna Ogata, Kanon Suzuki, Maria Makino, Masaki Sato, Miki Nonaka, Mizuki Fukumura, Sakura Oda
Morning Musume take a second to breathe in “The Vision.” While the idols spent much of the past few years restlessly working their issues out to a set of equally busy, demanding beats, the production of “The Vision” sits in stasis. The music is mostly accompanied by a sole grand piano, which gets spliced and diced in the usual way a Kaoru Ookubo production does. Like the recent “Imakokokara,” also arranged by Ookubo, the song features an abundance of negative space -- perhaps the most minimal Morning Musume single to date.
Removing so much energy and momentum from the music is a risky move in retrospect. Since the Colorful era, Morning Musume have used the intensity of the beats to amplify their personalities and messages into something larger than life. This isn’t their first time stripping away sounds: “Toki Wo Koe, Sora Wo Koe” is the obvious precursor here in terms of production style as well as a display of a much softer side. But their more vulnerable moments, like “Yuugure Wa Ameagari” and “Oh My Wish,” was still supported by dense, dramatic music. The rush from the synths kicked in a sense of urgency and aided the storytelling about moving forward.
Morning Musume, however, is as resourceful of their production in “The Vision” as much as the spectacle-filled EDM songs. The minimal, pensive music encourages patience, and the group basks in this sense of comfort as though they can stop thinking about the ticking clock for at least a second. The lyrics are usual Morning Musume-isms, with a look into a perfectionist’s mind in the middle of self-critique. But the idols deliver it with a sigh of relief, their errors treated more as just a natural outcome. “Just do better next time,” the song seems to say.
The overall tenderness of “The Vision” helps make the chorus come across as a more convincing sentiment. The titular message is really easier said than done: “if I could draw the image in my mind/ I might be able to grab it: my vision.” Tsunku also includes his two cents to continue Morning Musume’s decades-long promotion for the good of all mankind: “Enjoying life is a duty for all humans/ Having bad thoughts won’t benefit anyone, so let’s smile.” But the stakes in “The Vision” feel much lower in subscribing to this mindset, thanks to the disarming feel of the production. There’s nothing much to lose to participate, so why not believe in it?
