yes it’s my fault. With how the month went my mind got totally skewed and I over payed on some bills that really needed and I bought more groceries then usual because I forgot I didn’t save money last pay ( I got paid 3 times this month ) when I thought I did and screwed myself up really bad. I literally forgot I didn’t put money away like a dumbass. I thought I did but I did not.

its seriously insane how thick maomaos blinders are as to another person's attraction to her - she IS unbelievably beautiful but she claims because she lacks the "assets" shes unremarkable. and as though to confirm her own selfbias and feel more right about it, she deliberately makes herself "uglier" by adding things like freckles to her appearance. i do believe because of her upbringing in the pleasure district her sense of beauty and attraction, and especially LOVE, are extremely warped. shes not anything like pairin, meimei or joka, sure, but shes by far not the ugly or uninteresting gangly chicken she describes herself as.

she ignores jinshi's interest in her because the social status difference is insane and she would rather not be involved in all the complications that involves - but there's also that she just doesn't clock herself as a valid target for this most beautiful man of the nation's attraction and affection to her. and even if she accepted that, really, what is romantic love in her eyes, after all? something to be bought and sold, to be leveraged. thats how she grew up and learned it, after all. his love and attraction to her surely must be another power dynamic to be exerted over her, no? or so she expects - and begins to play dumb and oblivious as to his desire for her. if she doesnt see it, its not real. if its not real, shes safe.

i really believe her entire outlook on herself as "ugly" is a selfmade construct she built as a coping mechanism to survive growing up in the pleasure district - and it only really got reinforced when she was sold into the rear palace.
